RESUMEN

Objective: The aim was to investigate the factors associated with cough persistence after thoracoscopic lung cancer resection in elderly lung cancer patients and preventive strategies. Methods: In this study, 103 elderly patients with lung cancer who attended the department of thoracic surgery of our hospital from March 2019 to January 2023 were selected for retrospective analysis, all of whom underwent thoracoscopic lung cancer resection and were divided into the cough group (n = 37) and the no-cough group (n = 66) based on the presence or absence of persistent cough in the postoperative period. The clinical data of the patients were analyzed using univariate analysis and multifactorial logistic regression analysis. Results: The findings of the study show that there was no statistically significant difference when comparing the data of the two groups in terms of gender, age, history of diabetes mellitus, history of hypertension, pathologic type, TNM stage, intraoperative blood loss, and postoperative pleural fluid (P > .05). However, multifactorial analysis showed that preoperative history of smoking, the side of the operation being the right side, the extent of the operation being the lobes of the lungs, the time of tracheal intubation ≥172 min, the peritracheal lymph node clearance, and the occurrence of postoperative acid reflux were independent risk factors for the occurrence of persistent cough in patients after thoracoscopic lung cancer resection, while preoperative respiratory training was a protective factor (P < .05). Conclusion: There are many factors affecting persistent cough after thoracoscopic lung cancer resection. These factors need to be paid close attention to in the clinic and preventive measures should be taken to minimize the occurrence of persistent cough and promote postoperative recovery.

RESUMEN

ZnAl2O4 with a typical spinel structure is highly expected to be a novel rare-earth-free ion-activated oxide phosphor with red emission, which holds high actual meaning for advancing phosphor-converted light-emitting diode (pc-LED) lighting. Among the rare-earth-free activators, Mn4+ ions have emerged as one of the most promising activators. Considering the price advantage of MnCO3 generating Mn2+ ions and the charge compensation effect potentially obtaining Mn4+ ions from Mn2+ ions, this research delves into a collection of ZnAl2O4:Mn2+(Mn4+), x Li+ (x = 0%-40%) phosphors with Li+ as co-dopant and MnCO3 as Mn2+ dopant source prepared by a high temperature solid-state reaction method. The lattice structure was investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), photoluminescence (PL), and photoluminescence excitation (PLE) spectroscopy. Results suggest a relatively high probability of Li+ ions occupying Zn2+ lattice sites. Furthermore, Li+ ion doping was assuredly found to facilitate the oxidization of Mn2+ to Mn4+, leading to a shift of luminescence peak from 516 to 656 nm. An intriguing phenomenon that the emission color changed with the Li+ doping content was also observed. Meanwhile, the luminescence intensity and quantum yield (QY) at different temperatures, as well as the relevant thermal quenching mechanism, were determined and elucidated detailedly.

RESUMEN

Lead halide perovskite quantum dots (QDs) with high fluorescence efficiency and high color purity have a broad application prospect in the field of backlight display, but poor stability has been a key factor limiting their commercialization. Herein, we successfully synthesized CsPbBr3 QDs-KIT-6 (CsPbBr3 -K6) composite by using KIT-6 molecular sieve as the limited template with a simple high temperature solid-phase method. Further, the semi-protected CsPbBr3 QDs in KIT-6 frame will spontaneously hydrolyze when encountering water, and finally the double-encapsulated CsPbBr3 QDs-KIT-6@PbBr(OH) (CsPbBr3 -K6@PbBr(OH)) composite are obtained. CsPbBr3 -K6@PbBr(OH) composite shows excellent green emission properties, including a photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) (~73%) and a narrow emission linewidth of 25 nm. It is interesting that, the composite has excellent stability, including water stability without attenuation of fluorescence intensity after soaking in water for 60 days, thermal stability of 120°C heating-cooling cycle, and excellent optical stability without attenuation under continuous ultraviolet irradiation.

RESUMEN

A series of SrMg2 (PO4 )2 :Eu2+ -Eu3+ ,Dy3+ phosphors was synthesized successfully using a high-temperature solid-state method in an air atmosphere. The structures were studied in detail using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and the luminescence properties of the samples. SrMg2 (PO4 )2 :Eu2+ -Eu3+ samples can emit adjustable blue-violet light by controlling the proportion of dopant concentration of europium and dysprosium under 340 nm excitation. Dy3+ exhibits typical blue and yellow emission under 350 nm excitation. The energy transferred from Eu3+ to Dy3+ in Dy and Eu co-doped system was determined by comparing the fluorescence spectra of single-doped system. In addition, the colour coordinates of the International Commission on lighting (CIE) indicated that SrMg2 (PO4 )2 :Eu2+ -Eu3+ ,Dy3+ could be considered as a potential blue-purple phosphor for white light-emitting diode applications.

RESUMEN

A series of Mg21 Ca4 Na4 (PO4 )18 :Eu2+ -Eu3+ phosphors was successfully synthesized using a high-temperature solid-state method in an air atmosphere. The phase structures and luminescence properties of the samples were studied in detail. The phosphors exhibited strong visible light emission under different wavelengths of ultraviolet light excitation. By harmonizing the doping concentration of Eu3+ to adjust the relative luminescence intensity of Eu2+ and Eu3+ , a colourful emission of phosphors could be achieved. In addition, the colour coordinates of the International Commission on lighting indicated that Mg21 Ca4 Na4 (PO)18 :Eu2+ -Eu3+ could be considered as a potential blue, orange and red phosphor for white light-emitting diode applications.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Kidneys obtained from deceased donors increase the incidence of delayed graft function (DGF) after renal transplantation. Here we investigated the influence of the risk factors of donors with DGF, and developed a donor risk scoring system for DGF prediction. METHODS: This retrospective study was conducted in 1807 deceased kidney donors and 3599 recipients who received donor kidneys via transplants in 29 centers in China. We quantified DGF associations with donor clinical characteristics. A donor risk scoring system was developed and validated using an independent sample set. RESULTS: The incidence of DGF from donors was 19.0%. Six of the donor characteristics analyzed, i.e., age, cause of death, history of hypertension, terminal serum creatinine, persistence of hypotension, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) time were risk factors for DGF. A 49-point scoring system of donor risk was established for DGF prediction and exhibited a superior degree of discrimination. External validation of DGF prediction revealed area under the receiver-operating characteristic (AUC) curves of 0.7552. CONCLUSIONS: Our study determined the deceased donor risk factors related to DGF after renal transplantation pertinent to the Chinese cohort. The scoring system developed here had superior diagnostic significance and consistency and can be used by clinicians to make evidence-based decisions on the quality of kidneys from deceased donors and guide renal transplantation therapy.

RESUMEN

In this paper, the Eu3+ -Eu2+ (4%, molar ratio)-doped xAl2 O3 -ySiO2 (x = 0-2.5, y = 1-5) and xAl2 O3 -zMgO (x = 0-1.5, z = 0-3) composites phosphors with different Al2 O3 to SiO2 (A/S) and Al2 O3 to MgO (A/M) ratios were prepared using a high-temperature solid-state reaction under air atmosphere. The effects of the A/S and A/M on luminescence properties, crystal structure, electron spin resonance, and Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage chromaticity coordinates of the samples were systematically analyzed. These results indicated that the different A/S and A/M ratios in the matrix effectively affected the crystal phase, degrees of self-reduction of Eu3+ , and led the relative emission intensity of Eu2+ /Eu3+ to change and adjust.

RESUMEN

SrBPO5 :Eu2+ -Eu3+ phosphors were synthesized using a conventional solid self-reduction reaction in an air atmosphere. Samples were characterized using thermogravimetry analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra, fluorescence spectra and Commission International de l'Eclairage (CIE) data. The results of TGA and DSC showed that the raw materials could completely react at 1000°C. FTIR spectra and XRD results displayed that europium ions of different concentrations do not effect the structure of the hosts. Fluorescence spectra displayed that europium ions exist in bivalent and trivalent forms, and that the emission peak at 403 nm was attributed to the typical 5d-4f transition for Eu2+ ; 597 nm and 620 nm emissions were assigned to the characteristic transitions of 5 D0 -7F1, 2 for Eu3+ . CIE results depicted that the colour tone of the phosphors could be macro-controlled from blue to purple by controlling the doping amount of Eu3+ .Therefore, relative luminescence intensity between Eu2+ and Eu3+ could be adjusted by controlling the doping concentration of europium to tune the luminescence colour of SrBPO5 .

RESUMEN

The MgO-Ga2 O3 -SiO2 glasses and glass-ceramics samples doped with Eu2+ /Mn2+ /Er3+ and heated in reductive atmosphere were prepared by the sol-gel method. The structure, morphology and the luminescence properties were studied using X-ray diffraction, high-resolution transmission electron microscope, fluorescence spectra, and up-conversion emission. The luminescence characteristics of doped ions could be influenced by temperature and matrix component. The characteristic emission of Mn2+ , Eu2+ and Er3+ were seen and the energy transfer efficiency from Eu2+ to Mn2+ was enhanced as Mn2+ concentration was increased. In addition, the two-photon process was determined for the Er3+ -doped samples.

RESUMEN

Low-level BK polyomavirus (BKPyV) shedding is seen in at least 10% of seropositive immunocompetent adults. Moreover, BKPyV infection is highly prevalent amongst immunocompromised populations, yet little is known on its relationship with malignancy. We studied a female patient with BKPyV-associated and donor-derived de novo high-grade sarcomatoid urothelial carcinoma developed 8 years after kidney transplantation from a male donor. Through whole-genome sequencing, we discovered integration of genotype IV BKPyV genome into the non-coding RNA (ncRNA) intronic region of human chromosome 18. The two breakpoints in the virus genome were located at the non-coding control region (NCCR) and large T antigen (TAg) coding region, respectively. Nevertheless, the TAg was overexpressed. We, therefore, inferred that the BKPyV was clonally integrated into the human genome in the form of concatemers, facilitating the expression of the TAg. The patient presented with multiorgan metastases, which were reduced in size and number throughout the body after removal of the graft and cessation of immunosuppressants. The few remaining lesions located in the liver were identified, through biopsy to be necrotic tumor tissue with TAg detected; additionally, genomic sequencing of the liver mass found Y chromosome. In conclusion, we propose that integration of the BKPyV genome is closely related to oncogenesis in this patient; while oncogenesis occurred when host immunity was impaired, recovery of the patient's native immunity effectively curbed viral replication and eliminated the metastatic lesions.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between indocyanine green plasma disappearance rate (ICG-PDR) and allograft function as well as postoperative complications after liver transplantation. MATERIAL AND METHODS In this prospective study, 115 cases of adult liver transplantation performed from 1 June 2016 to 1 December 2016 were enrolled. These 115 patients were divided into a group of PDR <18%/min (50 cases) and a group of PDR ≥18%/min (65 cases). The rates of liver recovery, postoperative complications, and survival were compared between these 2 groups. RESULTS Among the total of 115 patients, 111 patients recovered well and were discharged, whereas 4 patients died during the first month after the operation. Between the 2 groups, significant differences were observed in terms of the model for end-stage liver disease (MELD) score, intraoperative bleeding volume, and the level of hemoglobin (Hb), pre-albumin (PA) and total bilirubin (TB) the first week after the operation. Overall, the incidence of hepatic arterial complications and pneumonia was much higher in the PDR<18%/min group (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS The early postoperative value of ICG-PDR was closely related to graft function and could act as a good predictor for the incidence of postoperative arterial complications.

RESUMEN

In this paper, MAl2 Six O2x+4 :Eu2+ /Eu3+ (Eu2+ + Eu3+ = 2%, molar ratio; M = Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba; x = 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2) phosphors with different SiO2 concentrations (the ratio of SiO2 to MAl2 O4 is n%, n = 0, 50, 100, 150, 200, respectively) were prepared by high-temperature solid-state reaction under atmospheric air conditions. Their structures and photoluminescent properties were systematically researched. The results indicate that Eu3+ ions have been reduced and Eu2+ ions are obtained in air through the self-reduction mechanism. The alkaline earth metal ions and doping SiO2 strongly affect the crystalline phase and photoluminescent properties of samples, including microstructures, relative intensity of Eu2+ to Eu3+ , location of emission lines/bands. It is interesting and important that the emission color and intensities of europium-doped various phosphors which consist of aluminosilicate matrices prepared under atmospheric air conditions could be modulated by changing the kinds of alkaline earth metal and the content of SiO2 .

RESUMEN

The BaZrx Si3 O7+2x :Eu2+ /Eu3+ (2%, molar ratio) phosphors were prepared with adding different amounts of zirconium dioxide (ZrO2 ) (x = 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 1) by a self-reduction method under air conditions. X-ray diffraction, photoluminescence properties, thermal quenching properties and luminescent lifetimes of the prepared samples were systematically analyzed. In BaZrx Si3 O7+2x :Eu2+ /Eu3+ , both the 4f â†’ 5d transitions of Eu2+ and sharp emissions assigned to 5 D0 → 7 FJ (J = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4) transitions of Eu3+ were observed. In addition, the results also reveal that the amount of ZrO2 affects the crystal structure, the self-reduction process and further influences the relative intensity of Eu2+ /Eu3+ in all samples. Therefore, the diverse emission colors can be obtained and modulated by controlling the content of ZrO2 . The highlight of this work is that the white light emission is observed, when x is 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1, respectively.

RESUMEN

Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) and Alport syndrome (AS) are serious inherited disorders associated with renal disease, and thalassemia is a hereditary blood disease with a high prevalence in south China. Here, we report an exceptional PKD coincidence of thalassemia minor and AS (diagnosed genetically) in a large Chinese family. Whole genome next-generation sequencing (NGS) was performed on the proband, and all family members underwent clinical evaluation. Sanger sequencing was used to validate the mutations distinguished by NGS. The pathogenic potential of the variants were evaluated by Polymorphism Phenotyping v2 (PolyPhen-2), Sorting Intolerant From Tolerant (SIFT) algorithm, and MutationTaster. Immunohistochemical, Western blot, immunofluorescent, and TdT-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling (TUNEL) analyses were performed to investigate polycystin 1 (PC1) expression, and cell proliferation and apoptosis in kidney tissues from the proband and normal control. A novel frameshift polycystic kidney disease 1 (PKD1) mutation (c.3903delC, p.A1302Pfs) was identified to be responsible for renal disease in this family. PC1 expression, and cell proliferation and apoptosis were significantly increased in the kidney tissues of the proband. Moreover, a deletion of approximately 19.3 kb of DNA with α-globin genes (_ _SEA) was associated with thalassemia minor in the family. In addition, a collagen type IV α 5 chain (COL4A5) variant (c.2858G>T, rs78972735), annotated as a pathogenic mutation in dbSNP and human gene mutation database (HGMD), was found in four family members with no clinical traits of AS. A novel pathogenic PKD1 mutation (c.3903delC) and (_ _SEA) thalassemia deletion were found to be responsible for the clinical symptoms in this family. The reported pathogenic COL4a5 variant (c.2858G>T, rs78972735) was not pathogenic alone.

RESUMEN

In this paper, the CaMoO4:Eu3+ phosphors were prepared by a simple hydrothermal method assisted by the citric acid as the surfactant, and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and fluorescent spectrophotometry. The results of XRD show that the as-prepared samples are single phase. The process of the Ostwald ripening is controlled by the content of the citric acid in the hydrothermal reaction. The pH value of the precursor affects the shift of the charge transition band (CTB) in the excitation spectra. The reaction condition can strongly affect the luminescent intensity of the samples.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To compare the characteristics of urinary tract infection (UTI) between kidney transplant recipients and non-recipient patients. METHODS: Forty-nine kidney transplant recipients with UTI (69 episodes) and 401 non-recipient patients with UTI (443 episodes) admitted in Nanfang Hospital from January 2003 to August 2014 were enrolled in the study. The characteristics of UTI were compared between two groups. RESULTS: In both groups of UTI, female patients comprised a greater proportion (63.3% and 58.6%) and Escherichia coli was the most common pathogen isolated (37.7% and 34.1%). However, the infection rate of Klebsiella pneumonia in recipients was higher than that in non-recipients (11.6% vs 3.2%, P= 0.001), while the infection rate of Candida albicans was lower (1.5% vs 11.3%, P=0.008) than that in non-recipients. Recipients were likely to develop antibiotic resistance and with a higher recurrence rate than non-recipient patients (38.8% vs 16.7%, P<0.001). Compared to non-recipient UTI patients, the symptoms of urinary irritation in recipient UTI patients were more common. There was higher percentage of neutrophil granulocyte (72.65% ± 1.90% vs 68.59% ± 0.73%, P=0.048), lower proportion of lymphocytes (17.73% ± 1.27% vs 21.28% ± 0.61%, P=0.037), and less platelets [(187.64 ± 10.84) × 10(9)/L vs (240.76 ± 5.26) × 10(9)/L, P<0.01] in recipients than in non-recipient UTI patients. CONCLUSION: These results indicate that the characteristics of UTI in kidney transplantation recipients and non-recipients patients are different.

RESUMEN

This study conducted a combined transcriptomics and metabolomics analysis in premature and mature developmental stages of Gardenia jasminoides Ellis fruits to identify the molecular mechanisms of pigment synthesis. The transcriptomics data produced high-quality clean data amounting to 46.98 gigabytes, exhibiting a mapping ratio of 86.36% to 91.43%. Transcriptomics analysis successfully identified about 3,914 differentially expressed genes which are associated with pivotal biological processes, including photosynthesis, chlorophyll, biosynthetic processes, and protein-chromophore linkage pathways. Functional diversity was clarified by the Clusters of Orthologous Groups (COG) classification, which focused mainly on pigment synthesis functions. Pathways analysis using the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) and Gene Ontology (GO) revealed critical pathways affecting pigment development. Metabolomics studies were carried out utilizing Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography and mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS). About 480 metabolites were detected via metabolomics investigation, the majority of that were significantly involved in pigment synthesis. Cluster and pathway analyses revealed the importance of pathways such as plant secondary metabolite biosynthesis, biosynthesis of phenylpropanoids and plant hormone signal transduction in pigment synthesis. Current research advances our comprehension of the underlying mechanisms at the molecular level governing pigment synthesis in gardenia fruits, furnishing valuable insights for subsequent investigations.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: To explore the clinical effect of Yang's pricking-cupping therapy and its central mechanism in treatment of eczema-induced pruritus using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI). METHODS: Fifty patients with eczema-induced pruritus were enrolled in the observation group, and 50 healthy subjects were enrolled in the control group. No any intervention was delivered in the control group. Yang's pricking-cupping therapy was operated at Dazhui (GV 14) and bilateral Quchi (LI 11), Xuehai (SP 10) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6), once a week, lasting 6 weeks in the observation group. The scores of the 12-item pruritus severity scale (12-PSS), the eczema area and severity index (EASI), the dermatology life quality index (DLQI), the Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI), and the self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) were compared before and after treatment in the observation group. The rs-fMRI scanning was conducted and the regional homogeneity (ReHo) analysis performed in all of the participants before and after treatment in the observation group, as well as at the time of subject enrollment in the control group. The correlation was analyzed between ReHo values in the different areas of the brain and the scores of the above scales. RESULTS: Compared with those before treatment, the scores of 12-PSS, EASI, DLQI, PSQI, and SAS were reduced after treatment in the observation group (P<0.01, P<0.05). ReHo values were increased in the right caudate nucleus, the right middle temporal gyrus, the right orbitofrontal gyrus, the right thalamus and the left angular gyrus before treatment in the observation group when compared with those in the control group (P<0.001); and ReHo values in the above areas of the brain were decreased after treatment when compared with those before treatment in the observation group (P<0.001). In comparison with the control group, ReHo values were reduced in the left middle temporal gyrus, the left superior parietal lobule and the left supplementary motor area in the observation group before treatment (P<0.001); while when compared with those before treatment, ReHo values in the above areas of the brain were elevated after treatment in the observation group (P<0.001). Before treatment, ReHo value in the left supplementary motor area was positively correlated with 12-PSS score (r=0.432, P=0.004), and the value in the right orbitofrontal gyrus was negatively correlated with PSQI score (r=-0.318, P=0.04) in the observation group. After treatment, ReHo value in the left superior parietal lobule was positively correlated with 12-PSS score (r=0.384, P=0.012) in the observation group. CONCLUSIONS: The abnormal cerebral functional activities are exhibited in multiple areas of the brain involved in stimulus response, emotional regulation, behavior control and attention in the patients with eczema-induced pruritus. Yang's pricking-cupping therapy can effectively relieve the pruritus symptoms and skin lesions of the patients, which may be related to reversing the abnormal cerebral functional activities induced by pruritus.

RESUMEN

Dust associated with various stellar sources in galaxies at all cosmic epochs remains a controversial topic, particularly whether supernovae play an important role in dust production. We report evidence of dust formation in the cold, dense shell behind the ejecta-circumstellar medium (CSM) interaction in the Type Ia-CSM supernova (SN) 2018evt three years after the explosion, characterized by a rise in mid-infrared emission accompanied by an accelerated decline in the optical radiation of the SN. Such a dust-formation picture is also corroborated by the concurrent evolution of the profiles of the Hα emission line. Our model suggests enhanced CSM dust concentration at increasing distances from the SN as compared to what can be expected from the density profile of the mass loss from a steady stellar wind. By the time of the last mid-infrared observations at day +1,041, a total amount of 1.2 ± 0.2 × 10-2 M⊙ of new dust has been formed by SN 2018evt, making SN 2018evt one of the most prolific dust factories among supernovae with evidence of dust formation. The unprecedented witness of the intense production procedure of dust may shed light on the perceptions of dust formation in cosmic history.

RESUMEN

In this paper, pure and Eu3+ doped TiO2 nanocrystals (NCs) have been fabricated successfully by a two steps of sol-gel and hydrothermal methods. The microstructures, morphologies and photoluminescent properties of Eu(3+)-TiO2 were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL). XRD and PL results show that the existent of rare earth can inhibit the transformation of TiO2 NCs from anatase to rutile phase and can improve the luminescence intensity of the prepared samples. The room-temperature PL emission of the as-grown samples is dominated by the 5D(0)-7F(j) transitions of Eu3+ ions. But the luminescence intensity drops dramatically when the annealing temperature reaches a relatively high degree because of the formation of the rutile phase of TiO2 NCs hosts.
