RESUMEN
The reaction of [Ga(C2F5)3(FSiMe3)] with chlorotrimethylsilane leads to the selective substitution of the α-fluorine atoms by chlorine atoms and thus to the formation of [Ga(CCl2CF3)3(FSiMe3)]. The corresponding chlorogallate ion, [Ga(CCl2CF3)3Cl]-, could be isolated and structurally characterized as its tetraphenylphosphonium salt. The catalytic potential of [Ga(CCl2CF3)3(FSiMe3)] was demonstrated via the chlorodefluorination of Me3SiCF3, 2,2-difluoropropane and [PPh4][Ga(C2F5)4].

Reaction of [YbCp2(dme)] (Cp = cyclopentadienyl, dme = 1,2 dimethoxyethane) with bis(diphenylphosphano)methane dioxide (H2dppmO2) leads to deprotonation of the ligand H2dppmO2 and oxidation of ytterbium, forming an extremely air-sensitive product, [YbIII(HdppmO2)3] (1), a six-coordinate complex with three chelating (OPCHPO) HdppmO2 ligands. Complex 1 was also obtained by a redox transmetallation/protolysis synthesis from metallic ytterbium, Hg(C6F5)2, and H2dppmO2. In a further preparation, the reaction of [Yb(C6F5)2] with H2dppmO2, not only yielded compound 1, but also gave a remarkable tetranuclear cage, [Yb4(µ-HdppmO2)6(µ-F)6] (2) containing two [Yb(µ-F)]2 rhombic units linked by two fluoride ligands and the tetranuclear unit is encapsulated by six bridging HdppmO2 donors. The fluoride ligands of the cage result from C-F activation of pentafluorobenzene and concomitant formation of p-H2C6F4 and m-H2C6F4, the last being an unexpected product.
RESUMEN
A N-heterocyclic olefin (NHO), a terminal alkene selectively activates aromatic C-F bonds without the need of any additional catalyst. As a result, a straightforward methodology was developed for the formation of different fluoroaryl-substituted alkenes in which the central carbon-carbon double bond is in a twisted geometry.
RESUMEN
In recent years, the highly polar C-F bond has been utilised in activation chemistry despite its low reactivity to traditional nucleophiles, when compared to other C-X halogen bonds. Paquin's group has reported extensive studies on the C-F activation of benzylic fluorides for nucleophilic substitutions and Friedel-Crafts reactions, using a range of hydrogen bond donors such as water, triols or hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) as the activators. This study examines the stereointegrity of the C-F activation reaction through the use of an enantiopure isotopomer of benzyl fluoride to identify whether the reaction conditions favour a dissociative (SN1) or associative (SN2) pathway. [2H]-Isotopomer ratios in the reactions were assayed using the Courtieu 2H NMR method in a chiral liquid crystal (poly-γ-benzyl-L-glutamate) matrix and demonstrated that both associative and dissociative pathways operate to varying degrees, according to the nature of the nucleophile and the hydrogen bond donor.

Enantioselective trichloromethylation of Morita-Baylis-Hillman (MBH)-type allylic fluorides with chloroform (HCCl3 ) under organocatalysis was achieved with high to excellent enantioselectivities. Silicon-assisted CF bond activation by a Ruppert-Prakash reagent and direct activation of HCCl3 by a carbanion exchange process with trifluoromethyl (CF3 ) carbanion generated inâ situ from the Ruppert-Prakash reagent realized the direct asymmetric trichloromethylation at a stereogenic allylic positon, without any help from transition metal catalysis, and under very mild conditions. Pre-activation of HCCl3 was not required. This method was extended to the direct enantioselective introduction of other C-H compounds such as alkyne, arene, indene, and FBSM without any pre-activation under a metal-free system.
RESUMEN
An efficient copper-promoted hydration reaction and its application in the synthesis of benzo[b]furan and benzo[b]thiophene derivatives is presented starting from readily available 2-fluorophenylacetylene derivatives. The key annulation step involves the hydration of the C-F bond of 2-fluorophenylacetylene derivatives followed by an intramolecular annulation to afford benzo[b]furan and benzo[b]thiophene derivatives. Moreover, structurally important 2,2'-bisbenzofuran scaffolds are provided in good yields.
