RESUMO

Tomography imaging methods at synchrotron light sources keep evolving, pushing multi-modal characterization capabilities at high spatial and temporal resolutions. To achieve this goal, small probe size and multi-dimensional scanning schemes are utilized more often in the beamlines, leading to rising complexities and challenges in the experimental setup process. To avoid spending a significant amount of human effort and beam time on aligning the X-ray probe, sample and detector for data acquisition, most attention has been drawn to realigning the systems at the data processing stages. However, post-processing cannot correct everything, and is not time efficient. Here we present automatic alignment schemes of the rotational axis and sample pre- and during the data acquisition process using a software approach which combines the advantages of genetic algorithms and human intelligence. Our approach shows excellent sub-pixel alignment efficiency for both tasks in a short time, and therefore holds great potential for application in the data acquisition systems of future scanning tomography experiments.

RESUMO

Sandwich-type structure based on Salisbury screen effect is a simple and effective strategy to acquire high-performance terahertz (THz) absorption. The number of sandwich layer is the key factor that affects the absorption bandwidth and intensity of THz wave. Traditional metal/insulant/metal (M/I/M) absorber is difficult to construct multilayer structure because of low light transmittance of the surface metal film. Graphene exhibits huge advantages including broadband light absorption, low sheet resistance and high optical transparency, which are useful for high-quality THz absorber. In this work, we proposed a series of multilayer metal/PI/graphene (M/PI/G) absorber based on graphene Salisbury shielding. Numerical simulation and experimental demonstration were provided to explain the mechanism of graphene as resistive film for strong electric field. And it is important to improve the overall absorption performance of the absorber. In addition, the number of resonance peaks is found to increase by increasing the thickness of the dielectric layer in this experiment. The absorption broadband of our device is around 160%, greater than those previously reported THz absorber. Finally, this experiment successfully prepared the absorber on a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate. The absorber has high practical feasibility and can be easily integrated with the semiconductor technology to make high efficient THz-oriented devices.

RESUMO

Integration and miniaturization are the inevitable trends in the development of electronic devices. PZT and graphene are typical ferroelectric and carbon-based materials, respectively, which have been widely used in various fields. Achieving high-quality PZT/graphene heterogeneous integration and systematically studying its electrical properties is of great significance. In this work, we reported the characterization of a PZT film based on the sol-gel method. Additionally, the thickness of the PZT film was pushed to the limit size (~100 nm) by optimizing the process. The test results, including the remnant and leakage current, show that the PZT film is a reliable and suitable platform for further graphene-integrated applications. The non-destructive regulation of the electrical properties of graphene has been studied based on a domain-polarized substrate and strain-polarized substrate. The domain structures in the PZT film exhibit different geometric structures with ~0.3 V surface potential. The I-V output curves of graphene integrated on the surface of the PZT film exhibited obvious rectification characteristics because of p/n-doping tuned by an interfacial polarized electric field. In contrast, a ~100 nm thick PZT film makes it easy to acquire a larger strain gradient for flexural potential. The tested results also show a rectification phenomenon, which is similar to domain polarization substrate regulation. Considering the difficulty of measuring the flexural potential, the work might provide a new approach to assessing the flexural polarized regulation effect. A thinner ferroelectric film/graphene heterojunction and the polarized regulation of graphene will provide a platform for promoting low-dimension film-integrated applications.

RESUMO

The tunable optical display is vital for many application fields in telecommunications, sensors, and military devices. However, most optical materials have a strong wavelength dependence, which limits their spectral operation range. In this work, we develop an electrically reconfigurable optical medium based on graphene, demonstrating a cycle-controlled display covering the electromagnetic spectrum from the visible to the infrared wavelength. Through an electro-intercalation method, the graphene-based surface enables rich colors from gray to dark blue to dark red to yellow, and the response time is about 1 min from the start gray color to the final yellow color. Simultaneously, it exhibits a remarkable change in infrared emissivity (from 0.63 to 0.80 reduction to 0.20) with a response time of 1 s. This modification of optical properties of lithiated multilayer graphene (MLG) is the increase of Fermi energy (Ef) due to the charge transfer from lithium (Li) to graphene layers, which causes changes in interband and intraband electronic transitions. Our findings imply potential value in fabricating multispectral optical materials with high tunability.

RESUMO

Tomography experiments generate three-dimensional (3D) reconstructed slices from a series of two-dimensional (2D) projection images. However, the mechanical system generates joint offsets that result in unaligned 2D projections. This misalignment affects the reconstructed images and reduces their actual spatial resolution. In this study, we present a novel method called outer contour-based misalignment correction (OCMC) for correcting image misalignments in tomography. We use the sample's outer contour structure as auxiliary information to estimate the extent of misalignment in each image. This method is generic and can be used with various tomography imaging techniques. We validated our method with five datasets collected from different samples and across various tomography techniques. The OCMC method demonstrated significant advantages in terms alignment accuracy and time efficiency. As an end-to-end correction method, OCMC can be easily integrated into an online tomography data processing pipeline and facilitate feedback control in future synchrotron tomography experiments.

RESUMO

Cemented particulate composite is a kind of composite material with high strength, high energy absorption, and multifunctional characteristics, which is widely used in engineering practice. The calculation of the mechanical properties of granular composites based on theoretical methods has always been a topic of discussion. A micromechanical model with a three-dimensional rigid beam-spring network (3D-RBSN) is proposed here. The stiffness matrix of the model was calculated theoretically. The model was applied to the analysis of the mechanical properties of composites material with glass beads and epoxy resin. The results indicate that the 3D-RBSN model can effectively predict the mechanical properties of composite materials, such as Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio. Furthermore, the damage evolution process of cemented particulate composite with initial defects was analyzed based on the 3D-RBSN model.
