RESUMO

The dispersive sweep of fast radio bursts (FRBs) has been used to probe the ionized baryon content of the intergalactic medium1, which is assumed to dominate the total extragalactic dispersion. Although the host-galaxy contributions to the dispersion measure appear to be small for most FRBs2, in at least one case there is evidence for an extreme magneto-ionic local environment3,4 and a compact persistent radio source5. Here we report the detection and localization of the repeating FRB 20190520B, which is co-located with a compact, persistent radio source and associated with a dwarf host galaxy of high specific-star-formation rate at a redshift of 0.241 ± 0.001. The estimated host-galaxy dispersion measure of approximately [Formula: see text] parsecs per cubic centimetre, which is nearly an order of magnitude higher than the average of FRB host galaxies2,6, far exceeds the dispersion-measure contribution of the intergalactic medium. Caution is thus warranted in inferring redshifts for FRBs without accurate host-galaxy identifications.

RESUMO

The event rate, energy distribution and time-domain behaviour of repeating fast radio bursts (FRBs) contain essential information regarding their physical nature and central engine, which are as yet unknown1,2. As the first precisely localized source, FRB 121102 (refs. 3-5) has been extensively observed and shows non-Poisson clustering of bursts over time and a power-law energy distribution6-8. However, the extent of the energy distribution towards the fainter end was not known. Here we report the detection of 1,652 independent bursts with a peak burst rate of 122 h-1, in 59.5 hours spanning 47 days. A peak in the isotropic equivalent energy distribution is found to be approximately 4.8 × 1037 erg at 1.25 GHz, below which the detection of bursts is suppressed. The burst energy distribution is bimodal, and well characterized by a combination of a log-normal function and a generalized Cauchy function. The large number of bursts in hour-long spans allows sensitive periodicity searches between 1 ms and 1,000 s. The non-detection of any periodicity or quasi-periodicity poses challenges for models involving a single rotating compact object. The high burst rate also implies that FRBs must be generated with a high radiative efficiency, disfavouring emission mechanisms with large energy requirements or contrived triggering conditions.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Crohn's disease (CD) is frequently associated with malnutrition, inflammation and a deficiency of vitamin D (VD) with the relationships between these symptoms being poorly defined. VD is a modulator of the immune system and is associated with the onset of CD and disease activity. The level of serum VD may have potential in the assessment of CD activity. This study aimed to evaluate the relationships between VD, nutritional status and inflammation, and to identify more accurate VD thresholds. METHODS: The study included 76 outpatients with CD diagnosed between October 2018 and October 2020 and 76 healthy volunteers. Levels of serum 25(OH)D and nutritional indicators, as well as biochemical and disease activity assessments, were conducted. RESULTS: Patients with CD and healthy participants were found to differ significantly in their 25(OH)D levels as well in levels of nutritional and inflammatory indicators. The optimal VD cut-off value was found to be 46.81 nmol/L for CD development and 35.32 nmol/L for disease activity. Levels of 25(OH)D were correlated with both nutritional status and inflammation. CONCLUSIONS: The VD level is likely to be a useful additional tool in the evaluation of CD patients and predicting the disease activity and clinical response. The VD level may relate both to the nutritional status and levels of inflammation in CD patients, and disease progression.

RESUMO

Since the publication of the classification criteria for axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) by Assessment of SpondyloArthritis international Society (ASAS), a new disease concept "non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis (nr-axSpA)" has emerged. Some domestic experts in China have translated it as "radiologically negative" axSpA, but it can easily lead to misunderstandings literally, as not all patients with nr-axSpA are completely free from radiological abnormalities. This article briefly describes the evolution of the concept of axSpA, proposes to translate the term of nr-axSpA directly rather than "radiologically negative" axSpA, compares the differences and similarities between nr-axSpA and radiologically negative axSpA, delineates the relationship between nr-axSpA and early ankylosing spondylitis, and points out not all the patients who meet the ASAS classification criteria for nr-axSpA are genuine patients with axSpA, because of the relatively low specificity of the ASAS classification criteria. Five common scenarios easily leading to misdiagnosis of nr-axSpA are exampled to remind domestic colleagues.

RESUMO

To investigate the feasibility and safety of the Lasso suture hook in transvaginal sacrospinous ligament fixation, a total of 38 patients with vaginal vault prolapse at or above stage Ⅱ, and aged 46-75(62.7±12.5)years, who underwent transvaginal sacrospinous ligament fixation at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University from January 2018 to January 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. After complete exposure of the right sacrospinous ligament, the cervical/uterosacral ligament was sutured to the sacrospinous ligament using Lasso hook and polypropylene sutures. The completion rate of the operation, intraoperative complications, operation time, blood loss, and postoperative situations were observed, and the objective cure rate and subjective satisfaction were followed up. Transvaginal sacrospinous ligament fixation was successfully performed in all 38 patients using Lasso suture hooks. There were no bladder or rectum injuries during the operations, and no pelvic hematoma occurred. The operation time was 15-40 (24±9.5) min; the intraoperative bleeding was 20-60 (40±12.5) ml; the visual analogue scale(VAS)score was 3-5 (3.2±1.4) points on the first day of postoperative, and 2-4 (2.2±1.8) points on the third day of postoperative. No numbness or pain in buttocks and lower limbs after the operation. The 3-month follow-up results showed that the objective surgical success rate of the postoperative pelvic organ prolapse quantitation (POP-Q) score was 100% (38/38). The 1-year follow-up results showed that the objective surgical cure rate of postoperative POP-Q score was 92.1% (35/38). The score of Pelvic Floor Distress Inventory-Short Form 20 (PFDI-20)was 42-180(120.4±44.9)before operation and 8-75 (28.0±14.3) after operation(t=15.90, P<0.001); The score of Pelvic Floor Function Impact Questionnaire-Short Form7 (PFIQ-7) was 52-214(112.8±44.5)before operation and 5-29 (14.3±6.0) after operation (t=14.40, P<0.001), and the subjective satisfaction rate is 89.5% (34/38) conducted by Patient Global Impression of Improvement (PGI-I). Transvaginal sacrospinous ligament fixation with Lasso suture hook is simple, safe, and feasible.

RESUMO

Diarrhoea is a common clinical condition; its pathogenesis is strongly associated with gut microbiota dysbiosis. Limonitum is a well-known traditional Chinese medicine that exerts appreciable benefits regarding the amelioration of diarrhoea. However, the mechanism through which Limonitum ameliorates diarrhoea remains unclear. Here, the efficacy and underlying mechanism of Limonitum decoction (LD) regarding diarrhoea were explored from the aspect of gut microbiota. Castor oil (CO) was used to induce diarrhoea in mice, which were then used to evaluate the effects of LD regarding the timing of the first defecation, diarrhoea stool rate, degree of diarrhoea, diarrhoea score, intestinal propulsive rate, and weight of intestinal contents. The concentrations of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), including acetic, propionic, isobutyric, butyric and valeric acids, were analysed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The 16S rRNA high-throughput sequencing technology was applied to evaluate changes in the gut microbiota under exposure to LD. LD was found to effectively ameliorate the symptoms of diarrhoea, and the diversity and relative abundance of gut microbiota were restored to normal levels following LD treatment. Additionally, LD significantly restored the observed reductions in SCFAs. These results provide strong evidence that LD can sufficiently ameliorate diarrhoea in mice by regulating their gut microbiota. The findings presented here highlight that Limonitum may constitute a prospective remedy for diarrhoea.

RESUMO

To investigate the effect and clinical value of morcellation within disposable extraction bag with traction wire through posterior vaginal fornix in laparoscopic myomectomy. A total of 42 patients who underwent laparoscopic myomectomy and morcellation through posterior vaginal fornix in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University from June 2019 to June 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. After the uterine fibroids were removed, the fibroids were placed into the extraction bag, tightening the mouth of the bag with a traction wire to make it airtight. After the uterine incisions were sutured, the extraction bag was taken out through the posterior fornix of the vagina, and the fibroids were broken up with a scalpel in the bag and taken out. The fibroids were successfully removed from the 42 patients through the posterior fornix of the vagina. There were no fibroids fragments found in the peritoneal cavity and vagina. There were no malignant cells or spindle cells found in the peritoneal lavage cytology before and after the operation. After filling the extraction bags with water, there was no leakage. There were 39 cases of uterine leiomyoma, 2 cases of cell-rich uterine leiomyoma, and 1 case of smooth muscle tumor of uncertain malignant potential in postoperative pathological diagnosis. Forty-two cases were followed up for 6 to 30 months. The posterior vaginal fornix incision healed well and there was no recurrence or metastasis. Morcellation within disposable extraction bag with traction wire through posterior vaginal fornix in laparoscopic myomectomy is a safe and feasible method for fibroids removal, which may help to reduce the dissemination of iatrogenic tumors.

RESUMO

AIMS: Soil salinization severely inhibits plant growth, leading to a low crop yield. The aim of the current study was to isolate endophytic bacteria with the ability to promote rice growth under saline conditions. METHODS AND RESULTS: We isolated eight salt-tolerant endophytic bacteria from rice roots. An isolated strain D1 was selected due to its ability to stimulate rice seed germination in the presence of NaCl, which was identified as Pantoea ananatis D1. It exhibited multiple plant growth-promoting traits including phosphate solubilization, production of indole-3-acetic acid, 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) deaminase and siderophore. Inoculation of P. ananatis D1 obviously enhanced the rice root and shoot growth under normal and saline conditions. It also significantly increased the contents of chlorophyll, total soluble protein, and proline in salt-stressed rice seedlings. Moreover P. ananatis D1 could ameliorate the oxidative stress in rice induced by NaCl and Na2 CO3 treatment. The malondialdehyde content and various antioxidant enzyme activities were decreased by P. ananatis D1 inoculation in salt-affected rice. In addition, P. ananatis D1 showed a positive potential for limiting the Na+ accumulation and enhancing the K+ uptake, leading to an increase of 1·2-1·7 fold in K+ /Na+ ratio under saline environment. CONCLUSIONS: Pantoea ananatis D1 has the ability to improve the salt tolerance of rice seedlings. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY: The application of plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB) is an eco-friendly strategy to improve plant tolerance towards abiotic stresses. We demonstrated that P. ananatis D1 could be used as an effective halotolerant PGPB to enhance rice growth in different salt-affected soils.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the short-term outcome of regenerative surgery for peri-implantitis therapy. METHODS: From March 2018 to January 2019, 9 patients with 10 implants who suffered from peri-implantitis were included in the present research. Vertical bone defect at least 3mm in depth with 2 or more residual bone walls was confirmed around each implant by radiographic examination. Restorations were replaced by healing abutments on 3 implants with the consent of the patients. Guided bone regeneration surgery was performed after a hygienic phase. During surgery, full thickness flaps were elevated on both buccal and lingual aspects. Titanium curette was used for inflammatory granulation tissue removal and implant surface cleaning. The implant surface was decontaminated by chemical rinsing with 3% hydrogen peroxide solution. After being thoroughly rinsed with saline, the bone substitutes were placed in bone defects which were covered by collagen membranes. 6 months after non-submerged healing, the clinical parameters including peri-implant probing depth (PD, distance between pocket bottom and peri-implant soft tissue margin) and radiographic bone level (BL, distance form implant shoulder to the first bone-to-implant contact) were used to evaluate the regenerative outcome. PD was measured at six sites (mesial, middle and distal sites at both buccal and lingual aspects) around each implant, and BL was measured at the mesial and distal surfaces of each implant on a periapical radiograph. RESULTS: The deepest PD and largest BL of each implant ranged from 6-10 mm and 3.2-8.3 mm respectively. All the implants healed uneventfully after surgery. The mean peri-implant PD at baseline and 6 months after surgery were (6.2±1.4) mm and (3.1±0.6) mm respectively, and a mean (3.0±1.5) mm radiographic bone gain was observed, P<0.01. Treatment success was defined as: no sites with residual PD≥6 mm, no bleeding on probing, and BL elevation of at least 1 mm. Nine implants from 8 patients fulfilled the success criteria. Residual pockets with 6 mm in depth and bleeding on probing could be detected in only one implant. CONCLUSION: Within the limitation of the present research, guided bone regeneration surgery can be used for the treatment of bone defect that resulted from peri-implantitis. Significant PD reduction and radiographic bone gain can be obtained after 6 months observation.

RESUMO

Objective: To identify the value of the detection of pepsin and bile acids in saliva for the diagnosis of gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD). Methods: From January 2018 to June 2019, 104 GERD patients and 43 healthy people in Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital were recruited. The 104 patients of GERD group were divided into four sub-groups, including esophageal symptoms GERD group, extraesophageal symptoms GERD group, anxiety or depression group, non-anxiety and non-depression group. Saliva was collected on waking in morning and 2 h after finishing lunch. The concentration of the total pepsin(TPP) and total bile acids(TBA) from saliva was detected by ELISA method. Receiver operating characteristics analysis was used to identify the sensitivity and specificity of the saliva pepsin and bile acids detection. Results: The concentration of TPP in morning waking samples and postprandial samples in the GERD group was 27.1(9.7,50.3) µg/L and 32.4(14.0,58.7) µg/L, the concentration of TBA in postprandial samples was (18.4±2.3)µmol/L, and these levels were significantly higher than that of the control group [7.0(5.1, 9.1) µg/L, 7.4(5.2, 9.4) µg/L, (12.6±5.0)µmol/L](P<0.01). The concentration of TBA in morning waking samples had no significant difference between these two groups(P>0.05). The concentration of TPP and TBA had no significant difference among the four GERD sub-groups(P>0.05).Pepsin in postprandial saliva samples had moderate diagnostic value for GERD, when the saliva pepsin concentration in postprandial samples was higher than 41.33 µg/L, it had a sensitivity of 82.8% and a specificity of 73.3%. The bile acids in saliva had no significant diagnostic value for GERD. Conclusions: Pepsin detection in saliva has a high level of sensitivity and specificity for diagnosing GERD. However, bile acids in saliva has no significant diagnostic value for GERD.

RESUMO

Objective: To explore the association between blood pressure control and risk of ischemic stroke (IS) in patients with hypertension. Methods: A total of 5 488 patients with hypertension from 60 communities were randomly selected from 101 communities in 8 streets of Nanshan District in Shenzhen City by using two-stage sampling method. The social demographic characteristics, behavior and life style, coronary heart disease and diabetes were collected and the physical condition, blood pressure and blood biochemical indexes were measured. From April 1, 2010 to August 31, 2017 as the follow-up period, the incidence of IS was annually collected by using telephone survey. Cox proportional hazard regression model was used to analyze the relationship between blood pressure control, systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP) and the risk of IS. Results: The age of all patients was (58.50±12.14) years old, including 2 712 males (49.42%) and 3 112 patients with well-controlled blood pressure (56.71%). During the follow-up period, 358 new cases of IS were confirmed, and the incidence density was 1 346.27/100 000 person-years. Cox proportional hazard regression model analysis showed after adjusting for confounding factors, unstable blood pressure control, SBP≥150 mmHg (1 mmHg=0.133 kPa; compared with SBP<120 mmHg), and DBP≥95 mmHg (compared with DBP<80 mmHg) were associated with risk of IS. The HR (95%CI) was 1.29 (1.04, 1.59), 2.00 (1.26, 3.17) and 1.52 (1.01, 2.64), respectively. Subgroup analyses showed these associations only existed in female patients with hypertension. The HR (95%CI) was 1.39 (1.05, 1.85), 2.53 (1.41, 4.56) and 1.73 (1.00, 3.36), respectively. Conclusion: Unstable blood pressure control increases the risk of IS in female patients with hypertension.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Early postnatal life is a critical developmental period that affects health of the whole life. Extrauterine growth restriction (EUGR) causes cardiovascular development problems and diseases, including pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). PAH is characterized by proliferation, migration, and anti-apoptosis of pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (PASMCs). However, the role of PASMCs in EUGR has not been studied. Thus, we hypothesized that PASMCs dysfunction played a role in EUGR-induced pulmonary hypertension. METHODS AND RESULTS: Here we identified that postnatal nutritional restriction-induced EUGR rats exhibited an elevated mean pulmonary arterial pressure and vascular remodeling at 12 weeks old. PASMCs of EUGR rats showed increased cell proliferation and migration features. In EUGR-induced PAH rats, Notch3 signaling was activated. Relative mRNA and protein expression levels of Notch3 intracellular domain (Notch3 ICD), and Notch target gene Hey1 in PASMCs were upregulated. We further demonstrated that pharmacological inhibition of Notch3 activity by using a γ-secretase inhibitor DAPT, which blocked the cleavage of Notch proteins to ICD peptides, could effectively inhibit PASMC proliferation. Specifically knocked down of Notch3 in rat PASMCs by shRNA restored the abnormal PASMC phenotype in vitro. We found that administration of Notch signaling inhibitor DAPT could successfully reduce mean pulmonary arterial pressure in EUGR rats. CONCLUSIONS: The present study demonstrated that upregulation of Notch3 signaling in PASMCs was crucial for the development of EUGR-induced PAH. Blocking Notch3-Hey1 signaling pathway in PASMCs provides a potential therapeutic target for PAH.

RESUMO

Objective: To find the best strategy of embryo transfer, so as to provide theoretical basis for improving the clinical outcomes of in vitro fertilization-Embryo transfer (IVF-ET), we investigate the blastocyst culture of surplus cleavage-stage embryos after D3 embryo transfer and the prediction of clinical outcomes with or without blastocyst formation. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 3 568 patients who underwent IVF-ET in the Reproductive Medicine Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January 2016 to May 2018, whotransplanted two embryos in D3 with blastocyst culture of surplus cleavage-stage embryos, according to their age, they were divided into three groups: <35 years old group, 35-38 years old group, and>38 years old group. And according to the presence or absence of blastocyst formation, they were also divided into two subgroups: blastocyst formation group and non-blastocyst formation group. The embryo development and clinical outcomes in each group were compared. Results: (1) Comparisons of the embryo development in the three age groups with the first cycle. The total fertilization rate, cleavage rate and high quality embryo rate of the blastocyst formation group in the three groups were higher than those in the non-blastocyst formation group, P<0.05; In<35 years old group, the embryo utilization rate (75.0% vs 70.6%), pregnancy rate (74.9% vs 70.3%), planting rate (53.6% vs 48.6%), delivery rate (66.7% vs 61.1%) and live birth rate (66.5% vs 61.0%) of the blastocyst formation group were higher than those in the non-blastocyst formation group, P<0.05. (2) Comparisons of embryo development in the three age groups with multiple cycles (≥2 cycles). In<35 years old group, the total fertilization rate (75.0% vs 70.6%),delivery rate (62.7% vs 43.8%) and live birth rate (62.7% vs 43.8%) of the blastocyst formation group were significantly higher than those in the non-blastocyst formation group, P<0.05; In>38 years old group, the pregnancy rate (56.3% vs 25.8%), implantation rate (34.4% vs 14.5%), delivery rate (43.8% vs 11.3%), live birth rate (43.8% vs 11.3%) of the blastocyst formation group were higher than those in the non-blastocyst formation group, P<0.05. Conclusions: The results of blastocyst culture in different groups can predict the outcomes of embryo transfer in D3. For patients<35 years old with the first cycle, the clinical outcomes of the blastocyst formation group after D3 embryo transfer is better than that of the non-blastocyst formation group. For Patients with multiple cycles (≥2 cycles),the clinical outcomes of the embryo formation group is superior to that of the non-blastocyst formation group<35 years old or>38 years old.

RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the clinical symptoms, treatment intervention and prognosis of Kaposiform lymphangiomatosis(KLA). Methods: Medical information and clinical characteristics data of 8 KLA patients who were admitted to Department of Pediatric Surgery of West China Hospital of Sichuan University from January 2016 to February 2019 were retrospectively reviewed and analyzed. There were 5 males and 3 females with age of 5.8 years old (from 8 months to 29 years old). Results: The lesions in all patients were diffusely distributed. In all 8 patients, the lung and mediastinum were involved with different degrees. Three cases had lesions involving pelvic and abdominal organs. Three cases had lesions involving bones. One case simultaneously involved pelvic and abdominal organs, and 1 case was involved laryngeal and neck. The clinical characteristics were mainly respiratory symptoms. In the laboratory tests, 6 patients had different degrees of thrombocytopenia (minimum 3 × 10(9)/L), and 4 patients had severe fibrinogen reduction (minimum 0.42 g/L). Three patients had prolonged activated partial thromboplastin time (up to 64.2 seconds) and 3 patients had prolonged prothrombin time (up to 18.6 seconds). After surgery (including thoracotomy, chest tube, pericardiocentesis, splenectomy) and empiric medicine therapy (vincristine, sirolimus and corticosteroid), the symptoms improved in 1 case, 2 cases died of complications, 2 cases were stable and 3 cases progressed up to February 2019. Conclusions: KLA is a rare disease that should be differentiated from other types of vascular diseases. Currently, there is no consensus treatment guidelines exist. Accurate diagnosis in KLA can be a challenge. The situation in patients with KLA is prone to rapid deterioration and progress. Future research efforts should seek to develop target-specific drugs for KLA.

We report a nanoinfrared (IR) imaging study of the localized plasmon resonance modes of graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) using a scattering-type scanning near-field optical microscope (s-SNOM). By comparing the imaging data of GNRs that are aligned parallel and perpendicular to the in-plane component of the excitation laser field, we observed symmetric and asymmetric plasmonic interference fringes, respectively. Theoretical analysis indicates that the asymmetric fringes are formed due to the interplay between the localized surface plasmon resonance (SPR) mode excited by the GNRs and the propagative surface plasmon polariton (SPP) mode launched by the s-SNOM tip. With rigorous simulations, we reproduce the observed fringe patterns and address quantitatively the role of the s-SNOM tip on both the SPR and SPP modes. Furthermore, we have seen real-space signatures of both the dipole and higher-order SPR modes by varying the ribbon width.

RESUMO

Negative energy balance is considered as the pathological basis of energy metabolic disorders in periparturient dairy cows. Serum non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA) are one of the most important indicators of energy balance status. Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) has been identified as a hepatokine involved in regulation of metabolic adaptations, such as promoting hepatic lipid oxidation and ketogenesis, during energy deprivation. However, the direct effects of NEFA on FGF21 expression and secretion in bovine hepatocytes are not entirely clear. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of different NEFA concentrations on FGF21 expression and secretion in calf hepatocytes cultured in vitro. NEFA were added to the culture solution at final concentrations of 0.6, 1.2, 1.8 and 2.4 mmol/L. After 24 hr of continuous culture, FGF21 mRNA and protein expression levels in the hepatocytes were determined by real-time PCR and Western blot respectively. FGF21 secretion in the supernatant was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The results showed that expression and secretion of FGF21 at 0.6 mmol/L NEFA-treated hepatocytes was higher than that of the control group (p < .05). The FGF21 expression and secretion were similar at 1.2, 1.8 and 2.4 mmol/L NEFA-treated hepatocytes and significantly higher than those observed for controls (p < .01). These data suggest that high concentrations of NEFA significantly promote FGF21 expression and secretion in bovine hepatocytes. In particular, this promotion occurs in a dose-dependent manner and may be involved in the pathological processes of energy metabolism disorders of dairy cows in the peripartum period.

RESUMO

Peritoneal dissemination is the most common condition of metastasis in gastric cancer. The survival duration of a patient with advanced stage gastric cancer, may be improved by gene therapy. In this study, we used an oncolytic adenovirus vector (Ad/TRAIL-E1) that expresses both the TRAIL and E1A genes under the control of a tumor-specific promoter. We evaluated the anti-tumor effect of Ad/TRAIL-E1 on gastric cancer cells in vitro, as well as in vivo in a xenograft peritoneal carcinomatosis mouse model. Our data showed that Ad/TRAIL-E1 induced TRAIL-mediated apoptosis in gastric cancer cell lines, but not in the normal cell lines. In addition, Ad/TRAIL-E1 significantly inhibited peritoneal metastasis and prolonged the survival of mice without treatment-related toxicity. Therefore, tumor-specific TRAIL expression from an oncolytic adenovirus vector may provide a novel therapeutic approach for the treatment of advance stage gastric cancer with peritoneal dissemination.
