RESUMO
The aim of this research is to evaluate the effect of visual education for the basic needs of people with disabilities on the health literacy and life quality of caregivers. The study sample comprised 268 caregivers evaluated in a pretest-posttest pattern. The data were collected using a Personal Information Form, the Health Literacy Scale, and the World Health Organization [WHO] Life Quality Scale-Short Form. Data were evaluated with the Wilcoxon test and Spearman correlation analysis. Following the education given to caregivers, an increase was determined in the Health Literacy Scale sub-dimension of information comprehension and in the WHO Life Quality Scale-Short Form sub-dimension of social relations. Thus it was seen that the visual education increased the health literacy and life quality of the caregivers.
RESUMO
The aim of this study was to investigate the antioxidant effects of tempol on ovarian ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury in rats. Forty female Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into 5 groups: Group I, sham; Group II, ischemia (I); Group III, I/R; Group IV, I/R + tempol 30 mg/kg i.p; Group V, I/R + tempol 50 mg/kg i.p. Oxidative stress index (OSI) was significantly higher in the ischemia group and the I/R group than in the sham group. Catalase levels were significantly lower in the I/R group than in the I/R + tempol 30 mg/kg i.p. and the I/R + tempol 50 mg/kg i.p. groups. Glutathione peroxidase levels were lower in the I/R group than in the I/R + tempol 30 mg/kg i.p. and the I/R + tempol 50 mg/kg i.p. groups. MDA levels were significantly lower in the I/R + tempol 30 mg/kg i.p. group and the I/R + tempol 50 mg/kg i.p. group than in the I/R group. The levels of the histopathological parameters were significantly decreased in the I/R + tempol 50 mg/kg i.p. group compared with the I/R group. Tempol can be used for reducing ovarian I/R injury.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of two different doses of dexpanthenol (Dxp) onexperimentally induced ovarian ischaemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury ina rat model. STUDY DESIGN: Forty female rats were randomly divided into fivegroups: Group 1: sham operation; Group 2: 3-h ischaemia; Groups 3: 3-h ischaemia, 3-h reperfusion (I/R); Group 4: I/R + 300 mg/kg Dxp intraperitoneally (i.p) Group 5: I /R + 500 mg/kg Dxpi.p. Total anti-oxidant status (TAS), total oxidant status (TOS), oxidative stress index (OSI), tissue malondialdehyde (MDA) and activities of glutathione peroxidase and catalase were calculated. Ovarian tissue damage was assessed using a histopathological scoring system. RESULTS: The TOS and OSI values were significantly lower in Group 5, as compared to Groups 2 and 3 (p < 0.05). The MDA levels in Group 1 and Group 5 were significantly lower than those in Group 3 (p < 0.05). CAT and GSH-Px activity was higher in Group 5 than in Group 2 and Group 3 (p = 0.00). Tissue damage scores were elevated in all the groups compared with sham group, but the treatment with the different doses of Dxp before reperfusion ameliorated the tissue damage scores. CONCLUSION: The results showed that Dxp reduced ovarian I/R injury.

BACKGROUND: Healthcare professionals' knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs regarding skin cancer are important for reducing the future impact of the disease. OBJECTIVE: This study evaluated university students' knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs about skin cancer and examined the variables influencing their attitudes and beliefs about the disease. DESIGN AND SETTING: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted at the Faculty of Health Sciences at Manisa Celal Bayar University, Manisa, Turkey. METHOD: A total of 960 students participated in this study. Data were collected using the Student Introduction Form, Fitzpatrick Skin Type Scale, Skin Cancer and Sun Knowledge Scale (SCSKS), and Health Belief Model Scale for Skin Cancer (HBMSSC). RESULTS: The mean SCSKS score of the participants was 14.91 ± 4.23. The mean HBSSC scores of the participants were 23.58 ± 7.79 for perceived susceptibility, 14.79 ± 4.59 for perceived severity, 20.64 ± 6.60 for perceived benefits, 15.93 ± 4.09 for perceived barriers, and 21.78 ± 7.14 for self-efficacy. The mean SCSKS total scores of the university students were significantly and positively correlated with the HBMSSC subdimensions. Gender explained 1.58 of the variance in perceived benefits and 1.65 of the variance in self-efficacy, whereas the SCSKS score explained most other variables. CONCLUSION: The students' knowledge of skin cancer and sun protection was moderate. Their attitudes and beliefs regarding skin cancer were unexpected. This study identified students' knowledge of skin cancer and sun protection as the most important variables for improving their attitudes and beliefs about skin cancer.

Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma is a rare malignant vascular neoplasm caused by the proliferation of neoplastic endothelial cells. Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma may develop in any organ, but it is commonly observed in the extremities. The tongue is a very unusual location for epithelioid hemangioendothelioma. A 55-year-old male patient presented to the outpatient head and neck clinic with lumps in the tongue, pain, and limitation of motion. The polypoid mass detected in the anterior midline of the tongue was excised. Microscopically, the tumor cells included slightly pleomorphic oval or round vesicular nuclei with an eosinophilic cytoplasm that variably contained vacuoles. There were 4 mitoses per 10 high power fields and there was no necrosis. In immunohistochemical study, the tumor cells were positively stained with CD31 and CD34 whereas they were negatively stained with TFE3, SMA, S-100, HHV-8 and EMA. The patient was diagnosed with "epitheloid hemangioendothelioma". Only ten cases have been reported in the tongue in the literature. Our case was the eleventh case, and we aimed to report this case as a rare entity with an unusual location.

OBJECTIVES: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an important modality for pelvic imaging. Vaginal distension is provided by the use of vaginal contrast in pelvic MRI, and it plays an important role in staging especially cervical and vaginal cancer. The aim of this study is to show whether the use of vaginal contrast material contributes to the diagnosis in pelvic examination. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Between October 1, 2016 and December 30, 2020, a total of 57 patients who underwent pelvic magnetic resonance imaging with vaginal contrast in the radiology clinic were included in the study and evaluated retrospectively. RESULTS: Cervical cancer was detected in 38 of the 57 patients included in the study, and when the vaginal pre- and post-contrast staging of the patients was performed, the pre-contrast stage was found to be high in six patients (15%). Eight of 38 patients diagnosed with cervical cancer underwent surgery. When the pathological and radiological staging of the patients who underwent surgery were compared, they were 100% compatible. CONCLUSIONS: The use of vaginal contrast material increases the diagnostic value of MRI in various pelvic pathologies, especially in cervical cancer staging.
