RESUMO

Positive magnetoresistance (PMR) and negative magnetoresistance (NMR) describe two opposite responses of resistance induced by a magnetic field. Materials with giant PMR are usually distinct from those with giant NMR due to different physical natures. Here, we report the unusual photomagnetoresistance in the van der Waals heterojunctions of WSe2/quasi-two-dimensional electron gas, showing the coexistence of giant PMR and giant NMR. The PMR and NMR reach 1,007.5% at -9 T and -93.5% at 2.2 T in a single device, respectively. The magnetoresistance spans over two orders of magnitude on inversion of field direction, implying a giant unidirectional magnetoresistance (UMR). By adjusting the thickness of the WSe2 layer, we achieve the maxima of PMR and NMR, which are 4,900,000% and -99.8%, respectively. The unique magnetooptical transport shows the unity of giant UMR, PMR, and NMR, referred to as giant bipolar unidirectional photomagnetoresistance. These features originate from strong out-of-plane spin splitting, magnetic field-enhanced recombination of photocarriers, and the Zeeman effect through our experimental and theoretical investigations. This work offers directions for high-performance light-tunable spintronic devices.NMR).

RESUMO

Pathological cardiac hypertrophy is associated with adverse cardiovascular events and can gradually lead to heart failure, arrhythmia, and even sudden death. However, the current development of treatment strategies has been unsatisfactory. Therefore, it is of great significance to find new and effective drugs for the treatment of myocardial hypertrophy. We found that carnosol can inhibit myocardial hypertrophy induced by PE stimulation, and the effect is very significant at 5 µM. Moreover, we demonstrated that 50 mg/kg of carnosol protect against cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis induced by TAC surgery in mice. Mechanically, we proved that the inhibitory effect of carnosol on cardiac hypertrophy depends on its regulation on the phosphorylation activation of AMPK. In conclusion, our study suggested that carnosol may be a novel drug component for the treatment of pathological cardiac hypertrophy.

RESUMO

Esketamine, a widely used intravenous general anesthetic, is also employed for obstetric and pediatric anesthesia, and depression treatment. However, concerns regarding esketamine abuse have emerged. Moreover, the potential in vivo toxicity of esketamine on growth and development remains unclear. To address these concerns, we investigated the effects of esketamine exposure on developmental parameters, cell apoptosis, and gene expression in zebrafish. Esketamine exposure concentration-dependently decreased the heart rate and body length of zebrafish embryos/larvae while increasing the hatching rate and spontaneous movement frequency. Developmental retardation of zebrafish larvae, including shallow pigmentation, small eyes, and delayed yolk sac absorption, was also observed following esketamine treatment. Esketamine exposure altered the expression of apoptosis-related genes in zebrafish heads, primarily downregulating bax, caspase9, caspase3, caspase6, and caspase7. Intriguingly, BTSA1, a Bax agonist, reversed the anti-apoptotic and decelerated body growth effects of esketamine in zebrafish. Collectively, our findings suggest that esketamine may hinder embryonic development by inhibiting embryonic apoptosis via the Bax/Caspase9/Caspase3 pathway. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to report the lethal toxicity of esketamine in zebrafish. We have elucidated the developmental toxic effects of esketamine on zebrafish larvae and its potential apoptotic mechanisms. Further studies are warranted to evaluate the safety of esketamine in animals and humans.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Desmoplastic small round cell tumor (DSRCT) is a highly aggressive primitive sarcoma with a 5-year survival rate estimated at only 15% to 30%. Although few curative treatment options exist, patients are most often treated with a combination of aggressive chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. Targeted therapy inhibitors of platelet-derived growth factor A, insulin-like growth factor receptor 1, and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2, which are almost uniformly overexpressed in DSRCT, have largely failed in clinical trials. Anlotinib is a multitarget receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor that inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1-3, fibroblast growth factor receptor 1-4, platelet-derived growth factor receptor α/ß, c-Kit, and Met. In this study, we presented 3 cases of DSRCT treated effectively with anlotinib combined with chemotherapy. CASE PRESENTATION: Three children DSRCT patients were enrolled from September 2020 to December 2021 and monitored until August 30, 2022. The clinical data were prospectively studied. The peritoneal cancer index classified all 3 patients as stage IV. After surgery, all 3 patients received anlotinib in combination with chemotherapy and reacted to the medication. For all 3 patients, clinical symptoms were substantially eased, and the size of the masses was reduced. Patient 1 and patient 3's progression-free survival had been extended, and anlotinib was continued as a maintenance medication in the 2 patients who were in good health at the end of the follow-up. Patient 2 died of postoperative complications 1 month after second-stage surgery. The main side effects of anlotinib were fatigue and hypertension. However, its toxicity was controllable and tolerable in children patients. CONCLUSIONS: This is the first report that anlotinib is effective in children with DSRCT. This report may provide an additional option for the treatment of metastatic DSRCT.

RESUMO

Radioulnar synostosis with amegakaryocytic thrombocytopenia (RUSAT) type 2, caused by MDS1 and EVI1 complex locus (MECOM) gene mutations, is a rare inherited bone marrow failure syndrome (IBMFS) with skeletal anomalies, characterized by varying presentation of congenital thrombocytopenia (progressing to pancytopenia), bilateral proximal radioulnar synostosis, and other skeletal abnormalities. Due to limited knowledge and heterogenous manifestations, clinical diagnosis of the disease is challenging. Here we reported a novel MECOM mutation in a Chinese boy with typical clinical features for RUSAT-2. Trio-based whole exome sequencing of buccal swab revealed a novel heterozygous missense mutation in exon 11 of the MECOM gene (chr3:168818673; NM_001105078.3:c.2285G > A). The results strongly suggest that the variant was a germline mutation and disease-causing mutation. The patient received matched unrelated donor hematopoetic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). This finding was not only expanded the pathogenic mutation spectrum of MECOM gene, but also provided key information for clinical diagnosis and treatment of RUSAT-2.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Contemporary risk-directed treatment has improved the outcome of patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and TCF3::PBX1 fusion. In this study, the authors seek to identify prognostic factors that can be used to further improve outcome. METHODS: The authors studied 384 patients with this genotype treated on Chinese Children's Cancer Group ALL-2015 protocol between January 1, 2015 and December 31, 2019. All patients provisionally received intensified chemotherapy in the intermediate-risk arm without prophylactic cranial irradiation; those with high minimal residual disease (MRD) ≥1% at day 46 (end) of remission induction were candidates for hematopoietic cell transplantation. RESULTS: The overall 5-year event-free survival was 84.4% (95% confidence interval [CI], 80.6-88.3) and 5-year overall survival 88.9% (95% CI, 85.5-92.4). Independent factors associated with lower 5-year event-free survival were male sex (80.4%, [95% CI, 74.8-86.4] vs. 88.9%, [95% CI, 84.1-93.9] in female, p = .03) and positive day 46 MRD (≥0.01%) (62.1%, [95% CI, 44.2-87.4] vs. 87.1%, [95% CI, 83.4-90.9] in patients with negative MRD, p < .001). The presence of testicular leukemia at diagnosis (n = 10) was associated with particularly dismal 5-year event-free survival (33.3% [95% CI, 11.6-96.1] vs. 83.0% [95% CI, 77.5-88.9] in the other 192 male patients, p < .001) and was an independent risk factor (hazard ratio [HR], 5.7; [95% CI, 2.2-14.5], p < .001). CONCLUSIONS: These data suggest that the presence of positive MRD after intensive remission induction and testicular leukemia at diagnosis are indicators for new molecular therapeutics or immunotherapy in patients with TCF3::PBX1 ALL.

RESUMO

To identify the prognostic factors that are useful to improve central nervous system (CNS) control in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), we analyzed the outcome of 7640 consecutive patients treated on Chinese Children's Cancer Group ALL-2015 protocol between 2015 and 2019. This protocol featured prephase dexamethasone treatment before conventional remission induction and subsequent risk-directed therapy, including 16 to 22 triple intrathecal treatments, without prophylactic cranial irradiation. The 5-year event-free survival was 80.3% (95% confidence interval [CI], 78.9-81.7), and overall survival 91.1% (95% CI, 90.1-92.1). The cumulative risk of isolated CNS relapse was 1.9% (95% CI, 1.5-2.3), and any CNS relapse 2.7% (95% CI, 2.2-3.2). The isolated CNS relapse rate was significantly lower in patients with B-cell ALL (B-ALL) than in those with T-cell ALL (T-ALL) (1.6%; 95% CI, 1.2-2.0 vs 4.6%; 95% CI, 2.9-6.3; P < .001). Independent risk factors for isolated CNS relapse included male sex (hazard ratio [HR], 1.8; 95% CI, 1.1-3.0; P = .03), the presence of BCR-ABL1 fusion (HR, 3.8; 95% CI, 2.0-7.3; P < .001) in B-ALL, and presenting leukocyte count ≥50×109/L (HR, 4.3; 95% CI, 1.5-12.2; P = .007) in T-ALL. Significantly lower isolated CNS relapse was associated with the use of total intravenous anesthesia during intrathecal therapy (HR, 0.2; 95% CI, 0.04-0.7; P = .02) and flow cytometry examination of diagnostic cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) (HR, 0.2; 95% CI, 0.06-0.6; P = .006) among patients with B-ALL. Prephase dexamethasone treatment, delayed intrathecal therapy, use of total intravenous anesthesia during intrathecal therapy, and flow cytometry examination of diagnostic CSF may improve CNS control in childhood ALL. This trial was registered with the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (ChiCTR-IPR-14005706).

RESUMO

The switchable electric polarization is usually achieved in ferroelectric materials with noncentrosymmetric structures, which opens exciting opportunities for information storage and neuromorphic computing. In another polar system of p-n junction, there exists the electric polarization at the interface due to the Fermi level misalignment. However, the resultant built-in electric field is unavailable to manipulate, thus attracting less attention for memory devices. Here, we report the interfacial polarization hysteresis (IPH) in the vertical sidewall van der Waals heterojunctions of black phosphorus and quasi-two-dimensional electron gas on SrTiO_{3}. A nonvolatile switching of electric polarization can be achieved by reconstructing the space charge region (SCR) with long-lifetime nonequilibrium carriers. The resulting electric-field controllable IPH is experimentally verified by electric hysteresis, polarization oscillation, and pyroelectric effect. Further studies confirm the transition temperature of 340 K, beyond which the IPH vanishes. The second transition is revealed with the temperature dropping below 230 K, corresponding to the sharp improvement of IPH and the freezing of SCR reconstruction. This work offers new possibilities for exploring the memory phenomena in nonferroelectric p-n heterojunctions.

RESUMO

Extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (ENKTL), which is a rare form of mature T/NK cell lymphoma in children, currently lacks a standardized first-line treatment approach. However, a treatment protocol known as the "sandwich" regimen has been used in children newly diagnosed with ENKTL. This protocol combines the administration of methotrexate, ifosfamide, etoposide, pegaspargase, and dexamethasone (referred to as SMILE) with the addition of radiotherapy (RT). From September 2017 to December 2020, a total of five patients were included in the study, consisting of three males and two females. The median age of onset was 10.6 years (range, 9.8 to 14.0 years). Among the patients, four had nasal/nasopharyngeal disease at stage II, while one patient had extra nasal disease involving the skin at stage IV. The median EBV-DNA level in plasma was 1.68 × 103 copies/ml (range, 0.44 to 21.1 × 103copies/ml). All the patients had good overall response after 2 cycles of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, including 4 of the patients who had a complete response and 1 of the patients with partial remission. The patient with stage IV received allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation after the EBV-DNA level was elevated again during treatment. One patient in the low-risk group experienced grade 4 oral mucositis, while no other severe complications or treatment-related deaths were observed. The median follow-up period was 22 months (range, 5 to 57 months). All five patients successfully completed their treatment, with four patients achieving event-free survival, and one patient was lost to follow-up. The median OS time and EFS time was 33 months (range: 18-57 months) and 20 months (range: 5-47 months), respectively. The sandwich protocol has demonstrated a high response rate, good tolerance to chemotherapy, and no treatment-related fatalities. However, further confirmation is necessary through additional clinical studies involving larger sample sizes. Clinical trial registration number: Due to modified SMILE regimens with sandwiched radiotherapy yielded promising outcomes in children ENKTL, we have carried out a phase II multicenter clinical trial (ChiCTR220005954) for children ENKTL in China to further verify the efficacy and safety.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Pulse pressure variation (PPV) has been widely used in hemodynamic assessment. Nevertheless, PPV is limited in low tidal volume ventilation. We conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate whether the tidal volume challenge (TVC) could improve the feasibility of PPV in patients ventilated at low tidal volumes. METHODS: PubMed, Embase and Cochrane Library inception to October 2022 were screened for diagnostic researches relevant to the predictability of PPV change after TVC in low tidal volume ventilatory patients. Summary receiving operating characteristic curve (SROC), pooled sensitivity and specificity were calculated. Subgroup analyses were conducted for possible influential factors of TVC. RESULTS: Ten studies with a total of 429 patients and 457 measurements were included for analysis. The predictive performance of PPV was significantly lower than PPV change after TVC in low tidal volume, with mean area under the receiving operating characteristic curve (AUROC) of 0.69 ± 0.13 versus 0.89 ± 0.10. The SROC of PPV change yielded an area under the curve of 0.96 (95% CI 0.94, 0.97), with overall pooled sensitivity and specificity of 0.92 (95% CI 0.83, 0.96) and 0.88 (95% CI 0.76, 0.94). Mean and median cutoff value of the absolute change of PPV (△PPV) were 2.4% and 2%, and that of the percentage change of PPV (△PPV%) were 25% and 22.5%. SROC of PPV change in ICU group, supine or semi-recumbent position group, lung compliance less than 30 cm H2O group, moderate positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) group and measurements devices without transpulmonary thermodilution group yielded 0.95 (95%0.93, 0.97), 0.95 (95% CI 0.92, 0.96), 0.96 (95% CI 0.94, 0.97), 0.95 (95% CI 0.93, 0.97) and 0.94 (95% CI 0.92, 0.96) separately. The lowest AUROCs of PPV change were 0.59 (95% CI 0.31, 0.88) in prone position and 0.73 (95% CI 0.60, 0.84) in patients with spontaneous breathing activity. CONCLUSIONS: TVC is capable to help PPV overcome limitations in low tidal volume ventilation, wherever in ICU or surgery. The accuracy of TVC is not influenced by reduced lung compliance, moderate PEEP and measurement tools, but TVC should be cautious applied in prone position and patients with spontaneous breathing activity. Trial registration PROSPERO (CRD42022368496). Registered on 30 October 2022.

RESUMO

Although morphology and grain size are important to rice growth and yield, the identity of abundant natural allelic variations that determine agronomically important differences in crops is unknown. Here, we characterized the function of mitogen-activated protein kinase 3 from Oryza officinalis Wall. ex Watt encoded by OrMKK3. Different alternative splicing variants occurred in OrMKK3. Green fluorescent protein (GFP)-OrMKK3 fusion proteins localized to the cell membrane and nuclei of rice protoplasts. Overexpression of OrMKK3 influenced the expression levels of the grain size-related genes SMG1, GW8, GL3, GW2, and DEP3. Phylogenetic analysis showed that OrMKK3 is well conserved in plants while showing large amounts of variation between indica, japonica, and wild rice. In addition, OrMKK3 slightly influenced brassinosteroid (BR) responses and the expression levels of BR-related genes. Our findings thus identify a new gene, OrMKK3, influencing morphology and grain size and that represents a possible link between mitogen-activated protein kinase and BR response pathways in grain growth. RESUMO

The effect of prolonged pulse therapy with vincristine and dexamethasone (VD) during maintenance therapy on the outcome of paediatric patients with TCF3-PBX1 positive acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) remains uncertain. We conducted non-inferiority analysis of 263 newly diagnosed TCF3-PBX1 positive ALL children who were stratified and randomly assigned (1:1) to receive seven additional VD pulses (the control group) or not (the experimental group) in the CCCG-ALL-2015 clinical trial from January 2015 to December 2019 (ChiCTR-IPR-14005706). There was no significant difference in baseline characteristics between the two groups. With a median follow-up of 4.2 years, the 5-year event-free survival (EFS) and 5-year overall survival (OS) in the control group were 90.1% (95% confidence interval [CI] 85.1-95.4) and 94.7% (95% CI, 90.9-98.6) comparable to those in the experimental group 89.2% (95% CI 84.1-94.7) and 95.6% (95% CI 91.8-99.6), respectively. Non-inferiority was established as a one-sided 95% upper confidence bound for the difference in probability of 5-year EFS was 0.003, and that for 5-year OS was 0.01 by as-treated analysis. Thus, omission of pulse therapy with VD beyond one year of treatment did not affect the outcome of children with TCF3-PBX1 positive ALL.

RESUMO

The evidence for the safety and efficacy of adding rituximab to intensive chemotherapy in pediatric patients with aggressive mature B cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma/leukemia (B-NHL/B-AL) is not yet robust. In this prospective multi-institutional trial, 419 evaluable patients ≤ 16 years of age with newly diagnosed B-NHL/B-AL were enrolled. Patients were stratified into 4 risk groups according to stage, resection status, and serum lactate dehydrogenase. Patients in group R1 received 3 therapy courses in the treatment order A-B-A. Patients in group R2 received 5 courses A-B-A-B-A. Patients in group R3 received 6 courses A-BB-AA-BB-AA-BB. For patients in group R4, rituximab was added to the chemotherapy backbone for patients in R3 (A-RBB-RAA-RBB-RAA-BB). At a median follow-up of 54 months, the 4-year event-free survival (EFS) for the entire group was 88.3 ± 1.6% (76.0 ± 4.3% in the historical study). The EFS rates according to the intention-to-treat principle were 100%, 98.6 ± 1.2%, 94.2 ± 1.8%, and 73.5 ± 3.7% for patients in treatment groups R1, R2, R3, and R4, respectively (P < 0.001). There were 9 (2.1%) toxic deaths due to infection during treatment. Regarding the toxicities of rituximab, grade 3/4 thrombocytopenia, mucositis, and infection occurred in 44.0%, 33.3%, and 64.0% after courses R-BB and grade 3/4 neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, and infection occurred in 96.3%, 77.8%, and 54.1% after courses RAA. The addition of rituximab to intensive chemotherapy is feasible even in a developing country. EFS was significantly improved when compared with the historical data. clinicals.gov identifier: NCT02405676.

RESUMO

Two-dimensional (2D) materials, with outstanding magnetic properties at room temperature, are highly desirable for the future spintronic and nanoscale electronic industry. However, most of the 2D systems are not of magnetic nature due to thermal fluctuations. Herein, we propose a novel strategy to induce robust room-temperature ferromagnetism in the originally nonmagnetic 2D ReS2 by the exchange between anions and cations. The vacancies are created by argon plasma treatment, which lowers the formation energy of point defects. The subsequent annealing facilitates the movement of the cations into the anion sites, giving rise to antisite defects, which leads to a significant increase in the magnetization. First-principles calculations demonstrate that the point defect with respect to the antisite substitution from Re to S is responsible for the extraordinary room-temperature ferromagnetism. This work opens a new door to the design of spin electronic structures by controllable antisite defects.

RESUMO

Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is characterized pathologically by langerin-positive (CD207+) dendritic cell proliferation and is considered by some as a myeloid neoplastic disorder. Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is associated with immune dysregulation characterized by the accumulation of activated macrophages and hypercytokinemia. However, these 2 histiocytosis rarely coexist. Currently, the etiology, risk factors, optimal therapy, and outcomes of LCH-HLH remain unclear. We reviewed the medical records of 7 LCH-HLH patients from our hospital and analyzed 50 LCH-HLH patients reported in scientific literature. The median age of LCH onset of these 57 LCH-HLH patients was 1 year, and 91% (52/57) of patients diagnosed as LCH were less than 2 years old. Fifty-six LCH-HLH patients belonged to the multisystem LCH category and 84% (47/56) patients had risk-organ involvement. Twenty-three LCH-HLH patients were complicated with infection and 3 patients had a primary pathogenic mutation of HLH. Overall, 90% of LCH patients developed HLH at the diagnosis or during chemotherapy. Of the 57 LCH-HLH patients, 15 died. Multisystem LCH patients with risk-organ involvement under 2 years old were most likely to develop HLH when complicated with infection at diagnosis or during chemotherapy. Identifying LCH-HLH patients during early stages and treating them with prompt chemotherapy, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, or supportive therapies are important for better survival.

RESUMO

Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is rapidly disseminated worldwide, and it continues to threaten global public health. Recently, the Delta variant has emerged as the most dreaded variant worldwide. COVID-19 predominantly affects the respiratory tract, and studies have reported the transient effects of COVID-19 on digestive system function. However, the relationship between the severity of the Delta variant and digestive system function remains to be investigated. Additionally, data on the ability of the inactive Chinese vaccines (Sinovac or Sinopharm) to protect against the Delta variant or COVID-19-induced gastrointestinal symptoms in the real world are insufficient. Thus, the present retrospective observational study first attempted to use the total gastrointestinal symptom rating scale scores (GSRS) to quantify the possible changes in digestive system functions following the Delta variant infection in the early stage. In addition, the study discusses the potential of inactivated vaccines in preventing severe or critical symptoms or Delta variant-induced digestive system dysfunction. Methods: To evaluate the difference between mild illness group, moderate illness group, and severe or critical illness group, analysis of variance (ANOVA) was employed to compare the three groups' total gastrointestinal symptom rating scale scores (GSRS). A chi-squared test was used to compare the differences in the ratio of the abnormal biochemical measurements among the three groups first. Then, the percentage of the vaccinated population was compared among the three groups. Additionally, the ratio of the abnormal serum markers between the vaccinated and nonvaccinated cohorts was compared. A P value < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: Significant differences were observed in the abnormal ratio of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), total bilirubin (TBIL), direct bilirubin (DBIL), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), and Interleukin 6 (IL-6) ratio among the three groups (P < 0.05). Additionally, no significant difference was observed in the abnormal serum markers ratio between day 14 and day 21 after treatment (P > 0.05). A significant difference was observed in the total GSRS scores among the three groups and the ratio of the vaccinated population among the three groups (P < 0.05). A significant difference was observed in the ratio of the abnormal serum ALT and AST levels between the vaccinated and nonvaccinated cohorts (P < 0.05). Conclusions: In summary, serum AST, DBIL, LDH, and IL-6 levels are potential markers for distinguishing severe or critical patients in the early stage of the Delta variant infection. Additionally, changes in the levels of these serum makers are transient, and the levels can return to normal after treatment. Furthermore, severe gastrointestinal discomfort was significantly more prevalent in patients with severe or critical diseases and should thus be considered in patients diagnosed with Delta variant infection. Finally, inactivated vaccines may prevent severe or critical symptoms and Delta variant-induced liver dysfunction. Vaccination programs must be promoted to protect public health.

RESUMO

Low temperature is one of the important environmental factors that affect rice growth and yield. To better understand the japonica rice responses to cold stress, isobaric tags for a relative and absolute quantification (iTRAQ) labeling-based quantitative proteomics approach was used to detected changes in protein levels. Two-week-old seedlings of the cold tolerant rice variety Kongyu131 were treated at 8°C for 24, 48 and 72 h, then the total proteins were extracted from tissues and used for quantitative proteomics analysis. A total of 5082 proteins were detected for quantitative analysis, of which 289 proteins were significantly regulated, consisting of 169 uniquely up-regulated proteins and 125 uniquely down-regulated proteins in cold stress groups relative to the control group. Functional analysis revealed that most of the regulated proteins are involved in photosynthesis, metabolic pathway, biosynthesis of secondary metabolites and carbon metabolism. Western blot analysis showed that protein regulation was consistent with the iTRAQ data. The corresponding genes of 25 regulated proteins were used for quantitative real time PCR analysis, and the results showed that the mRNA level was not always parallel to the corresponding protein level. The importance of our study is that it provides new insights into cold stress responses in rice with respect to proteomics and provides candidate genes for cold-tolerance rice breeding.

RESUMO

In this study, a multifunctional high-vacuum system was established to measure the electro-optical conversion efficiency of metamaterial-based thermal emitters with built-in heaters. The system is composed of an environmental control module, an electro-optical conversion measurement module, and a system control module. The system can provide air, argon, high vacuum, and other conventional testing environments, combined with humidity control. The test chamber and sample holder are carefully designed to minimize heat transfer through thermal conduction and convection. The optical power measurements are realized using the combination of a water-cooled KBr flange, an integrating sphere, and thermopile detectors. This structure is very stable and can detect light emission at the µW level. The system can synchronously detect the heating voltage, heating current, optical power, sample temperatures (both top and bottom), ambient pressure, humidity, and other environmental parameters. The comprehensive parameter detection capability enables the system to monitor subtle sample changes and perform failure mechanism analysis with the aid of offline material analysis using scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction. Furthermore, the system can be used for fatigue and high-low temperature impact tests.

RESUMO

Gas sensing performance characterization systems are essential for the research and development of gas sensing materials and devices. Although existing systems are almost completely automatically operated, the accuracies of gas concentration control and of pressure control and the ability to simultaneously detect different sensor signals still require improvement. In this study, a high-precision gas sensing material characterization system is developed based on vacuum technology, with the objective of enabling the precise and simultaneous measurement of electrical responses. Because of the implementation of vacuum technology, the gas concentration control accuracy is improved more than 1600 times, whereas the pressure of the test ambient condition can be precisely adjusted between vacuum and 1.2 bar. The vacuum-assisted gas-exchanging mechanism also enables the sensor response time to be determined more accurately. The system is capable of performing sensitivity, selectivity, and stability tests and can control the ambient relative humidity in a precise manner. More importantly, the levels of performance of three different optical signal measurement set-ups were investigated and compared in terms of detection range, linearity, noise, and response time, based on which of their scopes of application were proposed. Finally, single-period and cyclical tests were performed to examine the ability of the system to detect optical and electrical responses simultaneously, both at a single wavelength and in a spectral region.
