RESUMO

Objective: To study the differences of anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects between oil,sand and vinegar processing Strychnos nux-vomica seeds. Methods: Mouse auricular swelling and writhing test and mice hot water tail flick latency effect method were used to study and compare the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of different processing products of Strychnos nux-vomica seeds. Results: The anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of vinegar processing Strychnos nux-vomica seeds was better than that of oil and sand processing products. Conclusion: This study can provide theoretical basis for the optimization of processing technology of reducing toxicity and enhancing effects of processed Strychnos nux-vomica seeds.

Objective: To study the different pharmacokinetics effect of acteoside extracted from Rehmanniae Radix Preparata in normal and blood deficiency rats. Methods: Injected acetyl phenylhydrazine and cyclophosphamide to make blood deficiency rats models subcutaneously,and gave mice the ethand extracts of Rehmanniae Radix preparata by oral administration,the concentration of acteoside in rats at different time points were detected by HPLC method, pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated by 3p87 software. Results: The determination of acteoside in the linear range were 0. 2 ~ 80 µg / m L, the limit of detection and quantification was 0. 03 and 0. 12µg/m L,respectively. Compared with the normal group,the content of AUC0-tand AUC0-∞of corresponding dose in model group rats increased significantly, and the average dwell time and the elimination half-life prolong significantly. Conclusion: This method has high specificity,high sensitivity and simple operation, which can be used for the determination to pharmacokinetic process of acteoside in blood deficiency model.

OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of Litchi Semen Effective Constituents (LSEC) on insulin resistance (IR) in rats with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus(T2DM), and to explore its mechanism. METHOD: T2DM models in rats with IR were induced by high-fat feeding combined with streptozocin, then the rats were randomly divided into four groups: model group, LSEC high-dose group (1. 87 g/kg), LSEC low-dose group(0. 47 g/kg) and rosiglitazone group(3. 87 x 10(-3) g/kg), blank group was established as control. After medication for four weeks, effects of LSEC on glucose or lipid metabolism and insulin resistance were investigated, histopathology and ultrastructure changes of pancreatic tissues were observed,Stem-loop Real-time fluorescence quantitative RT-PCR was used for evaluation of GRP78 mRNA and CHOP mRNA levels in pancreatic tissue of rats. RESULT: LSEC of high-dose group obviously improved fasting blood glucose, serum TG level and glucose tolerance in T2DM rats (P <0. 05 or P <0. 01). ISI was increased, HOMA-IR index was decreased, histopathology change of pancreatic tissue were alleviated, damaged organelle, such as endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondria were repaired in both groups of LSEC. Expression levels of GRP78 mRNA of both groups of LSEC and CHOP mRNA of high-dose group in pancreatic tissue were obviously lower than those of model group (P <0. 01). CONCLUSION: LSEC can improve glycolipid metabolism and IR, increase insulin sensitivity to cure T2DM, its effects may be attributed, at least in part, to inhibit the expression of GRP78 mRNA and CHOP mRNA.

OBJECTIVE: To compare the pharmacokinetic differences of brucine in rats after different administration methods of brucine liposome. METHODS: To determine brucine in rat plasma at different points in time by HPLC after oral administration, intramuscular injection, subcutaneous injection and intravenous injection of brucine liposome, respectively. The pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated and analyzed by DAS 3.0. RESULTS: Compared with other groups, AUC(0 --> t) of subcutaneous injection were higher, C(max) were lower and MRT(0 --> 1), were significantly improved. The pharmacokinetics parameters and absolute bioavailability of brucine show that bioavailability in rats after different administration methods of brucine liposome is subcutaneous injection > intramuscular injection > oral administration.

OBJECTIVE: To establish an HPLC-UV method for determining pharmacokinetic difference of notoginsenoside R1 between normal rats and ischemic rats. METHODS: 48 male SD rats were randomly divided into normal group and acute myocardial ischemia( AMI) model group induced by pituitrin and each group was classified into high,middle and low-dose of groups with notoginsenoside R1 (200, 100 and 50 mg/kg) respectively. Blood samples were collected at different points in time after they were administered once by gavage and separated by Waters symmetry C18 column (250 mm x 4.6 mm, 5 µm) under the detective wavelength 203 nm, the mobile phase was acetonitrile-water with icariin as the internal standard and the pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated by DAS 2. 0. RESULTS: Notoginsenoside R1 had good linearity in the ranges of 0.2~125 µg/mL (R2 = 0.9997) with SNR 1:3 and the lowest detection limit was 0.053 µg/mL, the extraction rate, RSDs of within-day and between-day, specificity, accuracy and precision accorded with the require-ment of bio-sample pretreatment. Compared to the normal group, AUC0-t, and AUC0-∞ was significantly increased (P < 0.01) and the terminal half-life was prolonged markedly (P < 0.01) in AMI group. CONCLUSIONS: The method is simple, accurate and had high specificity and sensitivity, that could be applied in quantitative determination of notoginsenoside R1 and research of pharmacokinetics; the relative bioavailability of notoginsenoside R1 is increased significantly in AMI group,which indicates that notoginsenoside R1 has better effect in model rat.

Purpose: The integrator subunit (INTS) family, a group exclusive to metazoans, participates in various biologic processes. However, their roles in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remain largely unexplored. Methods: Public databases were utilized to investigate the transcriptional and protein expression, and clinical relevance of the INTS family in HCC. Meanwhile, the effects of INTS13 knockdown and overexpression on cell proliferation and apoptosis were studied using HCC cell lines. Results: The mRNA expression of most INTSs were higher in tumor than normal tissues. Higher expression of INTS1/2/3/4/7/8/9/11/12/13 were correlated with poorer overall survival (OS) in Kaplan-Meier Survival Analysis. Multivariate analysis revealed higher level of INTS13 was an independent prognostic factor for shorter OS. Furthermore, genetic alteration of INTS3/6/7/8/9/10 were found in HCC patients and was associated with shorter disease-free survival and progression-free survival. INTS1/2/3/5/7/11/13/14 were associated with activation of tumor-induced immune response and immune infiltration in HCC. Knockdown of INTS13 inhibited cell proliferation and induced apoptosis in HCC cell lines, while overexpression of INTS13 had the opposite effect. Conclusion: Our results indicate that INTS13 is an independent prognostic biomarker in HCC. Furthermore, INTS13 enhances cell proliferation and decreases cell apoptosis in HCC cell lines leading to a poorer OS in HCC patients.

Background: Previous studies have revealed that Galectin-9 (Gal-9) acts as an apoptosis modulator in autoimmunity and rheumatic inflammation. In the present study, we investigated the potential role of Gal-9 as a biomarker in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), especially as an indicator of functional limitations and radiographic joint damage. Methods: A total of 146 patients with RA and 52 age- and sex-matched healthy controls were included in this study. Clinical data including disease activity, physical function, and radiographic joint damage were assessed. Functional limitation was defined as the Stanford Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ) disability index >1. Subjects with joint erosion >0 or joint space narrowing >0 were considered to have radiographic joint damage. Serum Gal-9 levels were detected by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to evaluate the association between Gal-9 and high disease activity and functional limitations, and a prediction model was established to construct predictive nomograms. Results: Serum levels of Gal-9 were significantly increased in patients with RA compared to those in healthy controls (median 13.1 ng/mL vs. 7.6 ng/mL). Patients with RA who were older (>65 years), had a longer disease duration (>5 years), longer morning stiffness (>60mins), elevated serum erythrocyte sedimentation rate and C-reactive protein, and difficult-to-treat RA had significantly higher Gal-9 levels than those in the corresponding control subgroups (all p <0.05). Patients with RA were divided into two subgroups according to the cut-off value of Gal-9 of 11.6 ng/mL. Patients with RA with Gal-9 >11.6 ng/mL had a significantly higher core clinical disease activity index, HAQ scores, Sharp/van der Heijde modified Sharp scores, as well as a higher percentage of advanced joint damage (all p<0.05) than patients with Gal-9 ≤11.6 ng/mL. Accordingly, patients with RA presenting either functional limitations or radiographic joint damage had significantly higher serum Gal-9 levels than those without (both p <0.05). Furthermore, multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that a serum level of Gal-9 >11.6 ng/mL was an independent risk factor for high disease activity (OR=3.138, 95% CI 1.150-8.567, p=0.026) and presence of functional limitations (OR=2.455, 95% CI 1.017-5.926, p=0.046), respectively. Conclusion: Gal-9 could be considered as a potential indicator in patients with RA, especially with respect to functional limitations and joint damage.

OBJECTIVE: To analyse the volatile compositions of different specification of Panax notoginseng. METHODS: Volatile compositions from different specification of Panax notoginseng were detected by Headspace Solid-Phase Micro-Extraction with GC/MS. RESULTS: Terpenoids were the main compositions in different specification of Panax Notoginseng, and a-guaiene was the fundamental ingredient. The type, content and quantity of the compounds were different in different type of Panax notoginseng. CONCLUSION: Terpenoids were the main pharmacodynamics of the volatile compositions of Panax notoginseng and worthy of further study.

RESUMO

Scurvy, resulting from vitamin C deficiency, has nonspecific constitutional symptoms, including weakness, malaise, and fatigue. It is frequently misdiagnosed due to the lack of specific clinical manifestations. Although there are sporadic cases of scurvy currently reported in children, scurvy in young people is seldom encountered. Here, we report on a 25-year-old male patient without any underlying conditions who presented with severe pain and ecchymoses of both lower extremities. He was diagnosed with scurvy due to a long history of staying indoors and inadequate intake of fruits or vegetables.

INTRODUCTION: Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) play an important role in evidence-based medicine. However, an article with low reporting quality may mislead both experts and the general public into an erroneous decision. Data sharing can contribute to the truthfulness and transparency of trials. Acupuncture RCTs have been increasing rapidly these years, but the reporting quality and data-sharing level of acupuncture RCTs are not clear. Thus, this study will provide the current status of the reporting quality and data-sharing level of acupuncture RCTs. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: A cross-sectional study will be conducted. The seven databases including MEDLINE, EMBASE, CENTRAL, CBM, CNKI, Wanfang Database and VIP will be searched between 1 January 2012 and 15 October 2022 to identify acupuncture RCTs. The basic characteristics of included trials will be summarised. The reporting quality for included RCTs will be assessed by the Consolidated Standards for Reporting Trials 2010 statement and the Standards for Reporting Interventions in Controlled Trials of Acupuncture. The data-sharing level will be assessed by open science practices. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: Ethical approval is not required for this study. This protocol has been registered in Open Science Framework Registries. The findings of this study will be submitted to a peer-reviewed academic journal.

Objective: Anti-Ro60 and anti-Ro52 antibodies are associated with different connective tissue diseases (CTDs). However, the clinical significance of anti-Ro antibodies is not always consistent among different global regions. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical characteristics of patients with anti-Ro antibodies. Methods: A total of 1596 inpatients with anti-Ro antibodies were included in the study. Demographic, clinical, and serological data were compared between individuals with different profiles of anti-Ro antibodies: patients with anti-Ro52 antibodies alone, patients with anti-Ro60 antibodies alone, and patients with combined anti-Ro52 and anti-Ro60 antibodies. Results: Of the 1596 patients, 1362 (85.3%) were female, the mean age was 45.5 years, and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) (46.0%) and Sjogren's syndrome (SS) (19.0%) were the most common CTD diagnoses. Among the patients with anti-Ro52 antibodies alone, idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (18.8%) and SLE (17.6%) were the most common CTD diagnoses. The coexistent autoantibodies of this group were significantly lower compared with those of the other two groups, while the presence of anti-Jo1 antibodies were significantly higher compared with those of the other two groups (3.7% vs. 0.6% vs. 1.9%, p = 0.029). In addition, the patients with isolated anti-Ro52 antibodies were more likely to suffer from interstitial lung disease (35.5% vs. 11.3% vs. 13.7%, p < 10-4) and pulmonary arterial hypertension (10.1% vs. 5.3% vs. 3.6%, p = 0.001) compared with the other two groups of patients. Compared with patients with isolated anti-Ro52 or anti-Ro60 antibodies, the patients with combined anti-Ro52 and anti-Ro60 antibodies were more likely to suffer from xerophthalmia and xerostomia. Furthermore, hypocomplementemia, hyperglobulinemia, and proteinuria were particularly prevalent in patients with anti-Ro60 antibodies. Conclusion: Different profiles of anti-Ro antibodies were significantly associated with clinical phenotypic features in CTDs, indicating the potential diagnostic and prognostic value of these antibodies in clinical practice.

OBJECTIVE: To study the chemical constituents in ethyl acetate extraction of Semen Litchi. METHODS: The compounds were isolated and purified by column chromatography on silica gel and Sephadex LH-20 coupled with preparative silica gel TLC, their structures were identified by physicochemical properties and spectrum analysis. RESULTS: Five compounds were isolated and identified as stigmasterol (1), P-hydroxy-benzaldehyde (2), protocatechuic acid (3), daucosterol (4) and kaempferol-3-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (5). CONCLUSION: Compounds 2 and 5 are obtained from this plant for the first time.

A simple, rapid and sensitive analytical method was developed for the determination of toosendanin in rat plasma using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Andrographolide was selected as the internal standard, and the plasma samples were extracted by liquid-liquid extraction with diethyl ether. Chromatographic separation was performed on a Dikma Spursil C18, 3.5 µm (150 × 2.1 mm i.d) analytical column with 85% methanol:water (v/v) containing 0.025% formic acid (pH = 3.9) as mobile phase. The flow rate was 0.25 mL/min, and the total run time was 3 min. Detection was performed with a triple-quadrupole tandem mass spectrometer using negative ion mode electrospray ionization (ESI) in the multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mode. The MS/MS ion transitions monitored were m/z 573.1 â†’ 531.1 and 349.0 â†’ 287.0 for toosendanin and andrographolide, respectively. Good linearity was observed over the concentration range of 3.125-500 ng/mL in 100 µL of rat plasma with a correlation coefficient ˃0.9997. Intra- and inter-assay variabilities were ˂8.5% in plasma. The recovery and the matrix effect were in the range 71.8-73.5% and 96.4-103.8%, respectively. The analyte was stable under various conditions (at room temperature, during freeze-thaw settings, in the autosampler, and under deep-freeze conditions). The method was successfully applied to a pharmacokinetic study of toosendanin after its oral administration in rats at a dose of 10 mg/kg.

BACKGROUND: Thromboangiitis obliterans (TAO), also known as Buerger's disease, is an occlusive arterial disease; however, the pathogenesis of TAO is still unclear. Research has shown that traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has significant advantages in the treatment of TAO. Our purpose was to explore the underlying roles of TCM in combination with nibble debridement and dressing method (NDDM) in a TAO rat model. METHODS: We administered rats with 10 mg/mL sodium laurate to establish a TAO model, and then the TAO model rats were treated with notoginseng powder (NP), maifusheng (MFS), or the combination of NP or MFS and NDDM. Gangrene classification and blood rheology were evaluated; the pathological characteristics of rat limbs were examined by hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining and Masson staining; and cluster of differentiation 3+ (CD3+) and cluster of differentiation 20+ (CD20+) levels were measured by immunohistochemistry (IHC) and flow cytometry. In addition, inflammation-associated cytokines were analyzed by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR), western blot, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). RESULTS: Integration of NP or MFS and NDDM dramatically reduced the gangrene classification and affected blood rheology parameters of TAO model rats compared with NP and MFS alone. Meanwhile, NP or MFS in combination with NDDM decreased CD3+CD20+ T cells, reduced thrombosis and inflammatory cell infiltration, and dramatically decreased the levels of inflammation-associated cytokines. CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggested that integration of NP or MFS and NDDM could relieve the symptoms of TAO model rats induced by sodium laurate, which might provide a new management strategy for TAO.

BACKGROUND: Cassia mimosoides Linn (CMD) is a traditional Chinese herb that clears liver heat and dampness. It has been widely administered in clinical practice to treat jaundice associated with damp-heat pathogen and obesity. Emodin (EMO) is a major bioactive constituent of CMD that has apparent therapeutic efficacy against obesity and fatty liver. Here, we investigated the protective effects and underlying mechanisms of EMO against high-fat diet (HFD)-induced nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). OBJECTIVE: We aimed to investigate whether EMO activates farnesoid X receptor (FXR) signaling to alleviate HFD-induced NAFLD. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In vivo assays included serum biochemical indices tests, histopathology, western blotting, and qRT-PCR to evaluate the effects of EMO on glucose and lipid metabolism disorders in wild type (WT) and FXR knockout mice maintained on an HFD. In vitro experiments included intracellular triglyceride (TG) level measurement and Oil Red O staining to assess the capacity of EMO to remove lipids induced by oleic acid and palmitic acid in WT and FXR knockout mouse primary hepatocytes (MPHs). We also detected mRNA expression of FXR signaling genes in MPHs. RESULTS: After HFD administration, body weight and serum lipid and inflammation levels were dramatically increased in the WT mice. The animals also presented with impaired glucose tolerance, insulin resistance, and antioxidant capacity, liver tissue attenuation, and pathological injury. EMO remarkably reversed the foregoing changes in HFD-induced mice. EMO improved HFD-induced lipid accumulation, insulin resistance, inflammation, and oxidative stress in a dose-dependent manner in WT mice by inhibiting FXR expression. EMO also significantly repressed TG hyperaccumulation by upregulating FXR expression in MPHs. However, it did not improve lipid accumulation, insulin sensitivity, or glucose tolerance in HFD-fed FXR knockout mice. CONCLUSIONS: The present study demonstrated that EMO alleviates HFD-induced NAFLD by activating FXR signaling which improves lipid accumulation, insulin resistance, inflammation, and oxidative stress.

OBJECTIVE: To research the effects of Erigeron breviscapus injection (EBI) on TNF-alpha, PAI-1 and tPA in rats with acute myocardial infarction. METHODS: Models of acute myocardial infarction (AMI)were produced by ligation of left anterior descending coronary artery, then rats were randomly divided into control and experimental groups, then respectively gavaged NS, and the low, middle and high dosage of EBI for one week. The cardiac function index and the expression of TNF-alpha, tPA and PAI-1 were measured. RESULTS: Compared with the NS group, the cardiac function LVEDP, MAP, LVPmax, +/- dp/dt of AMI rat was improved by EBI in all dosage range, and the expression of TNF-alpha and PAI-1, LVEDP were decreased (P < 0.05), the expression of tPA, MAP, LVPmax and +/- dp/dt were increased obviously (P < 0.05) and had a dose-effect relationship. CONCLUSION: EBI can inhibit the expression of TNF-alpha and PAI-1, increase the expression of tPA,which can prevent the ongoing thrombopoiesis after AMI and improve the cardiac function. This maybe attributes to the inhibition of the overexpression of TNF-alpha.

OBJECTIVE: To research the effects of Panax notoginseng saponins (PNS) on angiotensin-converting enzymes 2 ( ACE2) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) in rats with post-myocardial infarction ventricular remodeling. METHODS: Models of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) were produced by ligation of left anterior descending coronary artery, 24 hours after operation the rats were randomly divided into control and experiment groups, then respectively administrated with NS, fosinopril and low, middle and high dosage of PNS for four consecutive weeks. To observe effects of PNS on malondialdehyde (MDA), nitric oxide (NO), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), ACE2 and TNF-alpha in rats with post-myocardial infarction ventricular remodeling. RESULTS: Compared with NS group, MDA significantly decreased, the activity of GSH-Px significantly increased (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01), NO of the high-dose PNS group decreased (P < 0.05), Compared with the NS group, ACE2 increased and TNF-a significantly decreased in low-dose PNS group, middle and high-dose groups (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: PNS can stimulate ACE2 to inhibit the expression of TNF-alpha and enhance the antioxidance. PNS can reduce pathological injury of cardiac myocytes in myocardial ischemia and cardiac muscle, which can improve ventricular remodeling.

According to the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) system, Chinese herbal medicines (HMs) can be divided into four categories: hot, warm, cold, and cool. A cool nature usually is categorized as a cold nature, and a warm nature is classified as a hot nature. However, the detectable characteristics of the gene expression profile associated with the cold and hot properties have not been studied. To address this question, a strategy for the cross-species annotation of conserved genes was established in the present study by using transcriptome data of 20 HMs with cold and hot properties. Functional enrichment analysis was performed on group-specific expressed genes inferred from the functional genome of the reference species (i.e., Arabidopsis). Results showed that metabolic pathways relevant to chrysoeriol, luteolin, paniculatin, and wogonin were enriched for cold-specific genes, and pathways of inositol, heptadecane, lauric acid, octanoic acid, hexadecanoic acid, and pentadecanoic acid were enriched for hot-specific genes. Six functional modules were identified in the HMs with the cold property: nucleotide biosynthetic process, peptidy-L-cysteine S-palmitoylation, lipid modification, base-excision repair, dipeptide transport, and response to endoplasmic reticulum stress. For the hot HMs, another six functional modules were identified: embryonic meristem development, embryonic pattern specification, axis specification, regulation of RNA polymerase II transcriptional preinitiation complex assembly, mitochondrial RNA modification, and cell redox homeostasis. The research provided a new insight into HMs' cold and hot properties from the perspective of the gene expression profile of plants.

Although the concept of inflammatory obesity remains to be widely accepted, a plethora of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory agents, mitochondrial uncouplers, and other structurally distinct compounds with unknown mechanisms have been demonstrated to exert functionally identical effects on weight reduction. Here we summarize a universal mechanism in which weight loss is modulated by mitochondrial biogenesis, which is correlated with conversion from the mitochondria-insufficient white adipose tissue to the mitochondria-abundant brown adipose tissue. This mechanistic description of inflammatory obesity may prove useful in the future for guiding pathology-based drug discovery for weight reduction.

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Xiaoyao San (XYS) is a classic Chinese herbal formula for treatment of depression. The present study aimed to investigate the antidepressant effects of XYS in a rat model of chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) and the underlying mechanisms. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A CUMS rat model of depression was established via 4 weeks of unpredictable stimulation. Then the rats were orally administered paroxetine and XYS for 2 weeks with continued stress. Behavioral assessments, including an open field test (OFT), sucrose preference test (SPT) and forced swim test (FST), were conducted to evaluate the antidepressant effects of XYS. The concentrations in rat plasma of tryptophan (Trp) and its metabolic products, including kynurenine (Kyn) and quinolinic acid (QUIN), were determined using high performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry with electrochemical detection (HPLC-MS/MS). The mRNA and protein levels in rat hippocampus of depression-related brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), cyclic AMP response element binding protein (CREB) and nerve cell adhesion molecule (NCAM) were determined by real-time qPCR and Western blot, respectively. Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) was used to detect the activities of indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) and kynurenine-3-monooxygenase (KMO) in rat plasma. RESULTS: The results showed that a successful CUMS rat model was established through 4 weeks of continuous unpredictable stimulation, as indicated by the significant decrease in locomotor activity and increase in immobility time in the OFT, reduction in body weight and food intake etc. Compared with the normal group, the concentrations of Kyn and QUIN had significantly (p < 0.05) decreased at day 28 in the control group, but then improved after drug treatment with paroxetine and XYS. There were no obvious changes in the activities of IDO and KMO. Compared with the normal group, the mRNA of NCAM, CREB and BDNF were significantly down-regulated (p < 0.001) in the control group, BDNF gene was up-regulated by paroxetine or XYS treatment, NCAM and CREB gene did not change in XYS group, protein expressions of BDNF and CREB were significantly increased, and NCAM was significantly reduced (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: XYS reversed the abnormalities of the tryptophan-kynurenine metabolic pathways in depressed rats and achieved an excellent antidepressant effect. Its direct impact may be observed as changes in biological indicators in rat hippocampus tissue.
