RESUMO

The shuttle effect in lithium-sulfur batteries, which leads to rapid capacity decay, can be effectively suppressed by solid polymer electrolytes. However, the lithium-ion conductivity of polyethylene oxide-based solid electrolytes is relatively low, resulting in low reversible capacity and poor cycling stability of the batteries. In this study, we employed the activator generated through electron transfer atom transfer radical polymerization to graft modify the surface of silica nanoparticles with a bifunctional monomer, 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropanesulfonate, which possesses sulfonic acid groups with low dissociation energy for facilitating Li+ migration and transfer, as well as amide groups capable of forming hydrogen bonds with polyethylene oxide chains. Subsequently, the modified nanoparticles were blended with polyethylene oxide to prepare a solid polymer electrolyte with low crystallinity and high ion conductivity. The resulting electrolyte demonstrated excellent and stable electrochemical performance, with a discharge-specific capacity maintained at 875.2 mAh g-1 after 200 cycles.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of roxadustat in the treatment of anemia in non-dialysis-dependent chronic kidney disease (NDD-CKD) patients. Materials and methods: For this systematic review and meta-analysis, we searched for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of anemia in NDD-CKD patients to assess the efficacy and safety of roxadustat. The primary efficacy endpoint was the proportion of patients who achieved a hemoglobin (Hb) response. Secondary efficacy endpoints were hepcidin, serum iron, serum ferritin (SF), total iron-binding capacity (TIBC), transferrin saturation (TAST), and low-density lipoprotein (LDL). In addition, adverse events (AEs) were compared. Meta-analyses were performed using Revman 5.4 software. The quality of the evidence was assessed using the Cochrane risk of bias tool. This study was conducted under a pre-established protocol registered with PROSPERO (registration number: CRD42021252331). Results: Seven studies enrolled 4,764 patients, of whom 2,730 received roxadustat and 2,034 received placebo. The results of this meta-analysis showed that roxadustat increased Hb levels [weighted mean difference (WMD) = 1.43, 95% CI: 1.17 to 1.68, P < 0.001, I 2 = 95%], and Hb response [relative ratio (RR) = 8.12, 95% CI: 5.80 to 11.37, P < 0.001, I 2 = 61%]. In addition, roxadustat significantly increased transferrin TAST. During the treatment period in patients with anemia, the AEs of roxadustat compared with placebo was not statistically significant. Conclusion: Roxadustat can improve anemia in NDD-CKD patients by increasing Hb levels and regulating iron metabolism, but does not increase the incidence of AEs. RESUMO

To investigate the validity of Chinese law enforcement from the public's perspective, this research applies the theory of planned behavior, and introduces law as a moderator variable to explore the determinants of public's environmental behaviors. Results from an empirical study of China indicate that perceived behavioral control, subjective norms, inward attitude, and outward attitude all have positive impacts on environmental intentions and indirectly affect the citizens' environmental behavior and activists' environmental behavior. Meanwhile, legal cognition positively moderates the relationship between environmental intentions and behaviors. As the level of the public's legal awareness increases, the direct effect of these two types of environmental intentions on environmental behaviors respectively continues to increase. Based on the findings, some constructive implications are provided to the governments and legislators to strengthen public participation in environmental protection.

Monoclonal gammopathy of renal significance (MGRS) can present with different morphologic features and lead to kidney failure. The Henoch-Schönlein purpura nephritis (HSPN) that cannot be relieved by treatment with glucocorticoid and immunosuppressive agents suggests the presence of monoclonal gammopathy in adult patients. The present study reports on a single case of HSPN associated with IgA-κMGRS. The patient who suffered from recurrent skin purpura for 6 months and nephrotic syndrome for 2 months was admitted to our hospital. Bone marrow biopsy showed monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance. Kidney biopsy indicated a Henoch-Schönlein purpura nephritis (HSPN, ISKDC classified as type III) with positive staining with κ-light chain in the glomeruli and renal tubular epithelial cells. Furthermore, skin biopsy showed leukocytoclastic vasculitis and negative staining for Congo red and light chain. Given both the renal and cutaneous involvement, the patient was considered to have HSPN associated with IgA-κMGRS. The patient experienced an exacerbation in his purpura-like lesions and clinical status after treatment with glucocorticoid and immunosuppressive agents. Consequently, the patient was put on a regimen that included dexamethasone (20 mg on the 1st, 4th, 8th, and 11th days of each month, iv) and bortezomib (2.4 mg on the 1st, 4th, 8th, and 11th days of each month, iv). Eight weeks after treatment, he had complete resolution of his cutaneous purpura and his biochemical parameters improved. The latent presence of MGRS in cases of HSPN should be considered in adult patients. Increased cognizance and correct treatment options could improve patient outcomes.
