RESUMO

The small-drone technology domain is the outcome of a breakthrough in technological advancement for drones. The Internet of Things (IoT) is used by drones to provide inter-location services for navigation. But, due to issues related to their architecture and design, drones are not immune to threats related to security and privacy. Establishing a secure and reliable network is essential to obtaining optimal performance from drones. While small drones offer promising avenues for growth in civil and defense industries, they are prone to attacks on safety, security, and privacy. The current architecture of small drones necessitates modifications to their data transformation and privacy mechanisms to align with domain requirements. This research paper investigates the latest trends in safety, security, and privacy related to drones, and the Internet of Drones (IoD), highlighting the importance of secure drone networks that are impervious to interceptions and intrusions. To mitigate cyber-security threats, the proposed framework incorporates intelligent machine learning models into the design and structure of IoT-aided drones, rendering adaptable and secure technology. Furthermore, in this work, a new dataset is constructed, a merged dataset comprising a drone dataset and two benchmark datasets. The proposed strategy outperforms the previous algorithms and achieves 99.89% accuracy on the drone dataset and 91.64% on the merged dataset. Overall, this intelligent framework gives a potential approach to improving the security and resilience of cyber-physical satellite systems, and IoT-aided aerial vehicle systems, addressing the rising security challenges in an interconnected world.

RESUMO

With the advancement in information technology, digital data stealing and duplication have become easier. Over a trillion bytes of data are generated and shared on social media through the internet in a single day, and the authenticity of digital data is currently a major problem. Cryptography and image watermarking are domains that provide multiple security services, such as authenticity, integrity, and privacy. In this paper, a digital image watermarking technique is proposed that employs the least significant bit (LSB) and canny edge detection method. The proposed method provides better security services and it is computationally less expensive, which is the demand of today's world. The major contribution of this method is to find suitable places for watermarking embedding and provides additional watermark security by scrambling the watermark image. A digital image is divided into non-overlapping blocks, and the gradient is calculated for each block. Then convolution masks are applied to find the gradient direction and magnitude, and non-maximum suppression is applied. Finally, LSB is used to embed the watermark in the hysteresis step. Furthermore, additional security is provided by scrambling the watermark signal using our chaotic substitution box. The proposed technique is more secure because of LSB's high payload and watermark embedding feature after a canny edge detection filter. The canny edge gradient direction and magnitude find how many bits will be embedded. To test the performance of the proposed technique, several image processing, and geometrical attacks are performed. The proposed method shows high robustness to image processing and geometrical attacks.

RESUMO

Railway track faults may lead to railway accidents and cause human and financial loss. Spatial, temporal, and weather elements, and wear and tear, lead to ballast, loose nuts, misalignment, and cracks leading to accidents. Manual inspection of such defects is time-consuming and prone to errors. Automatic inspection provides a fast, reliable, and unbiased solution. However, highly accurate fault detection is challenging due to the lack of public datasets, noisy data, inefficient models, etc. To obtain better performance, this study presents a novel approach that relies on mel frequency cepstral coefficient features from acoustic data. The primary objective of this study is to increase fault detection performance. As well as designing an ensemble model, we utilize selective features using chi-square(chi2) that have high importance with respect to the target class. Extensive experiments were carried out to analyze the efficiency of the proposed approach. The experimental results suggest that using 60 features, 40 original features, and 20 chi2 features produces optimal results both regarding accuracy and computational complexity. A mean accuracy score of 0.99 was obtained using the proposed approach with machine learning models using the collected data. Moreover, this performance was significantly better than that of existing approaches; however, the performance of models may vary in real-world settings.

RESUMO

Breast cancer is a major cause of female deaths, especially in underdeveloped countries. It can be treated if diagnosed early and chances of survival are high if treated appropriately and timely. For timely and accurate automated diagnosis, machine learning approaches tend to show better results than traditional methods, however, accuracy lacks the desired level. This study proposes the use of an ensemble model to provide accurate detection of breast cancer. The proposed model uses the random forest and support vector classifier along with automatic feature extraction using an optimized convolutional neural network (CNN). Extensive experiments are performed using the original, as well as, CNN-based features to analyze the performance of the deployed models. Experimental results involving the use of the Wisconsin dataset reveal that CNN-based features provide better results than the original features. It is observed that the proposed model achieves an accuracy of 99.99% for breast cancer detection. Performance comparison with existing state-of-the-art models is also carried out showing the superior performance of the proposed model.

RESUMO

Mobile app stores, such as Google Play, have become famous platforms for practically all types of software and services for mobile phone users. Users may browse and download apps via app stores, which also help developers monitor their apps by allowing users to rate and review them. App reviews may contain the user's experience, bug details, requests for additional features, or a textual rating of the app. These ratings can be frequently biased due to inadequate votes. However, there are significant discrepancies between the numerical ratings and the user reviews. This study uses a transfer learning approach to predict the numerical ratings of Google apps. It benefits from user-provided numeric ratings of apps as the training data and provides authentic ratings of mobile apps by analyzing users' reviews. A transfer learning-based model ELMo is proposed for this purpose which is based on the word vector feature representation technique. The performance of the proposed model is compared with three other transfer learning and five machine learning models. The dataset is scrapped from the Google Play store which extracts the data from 14 different categories of apps. First, biased and unbiased user rating is segregated using TextBlob analysis to formulate the ground truth, and then classifiers prediction accuracy is evaluated. Results demonstrate that the ELMo classifier has a high potential to predict authentic numeric ratings with user actual reviews.

RESUMO

Objective: Cervical cancer stands as a leading cause of mortality among women in developing nations. To ensure the reduction of its adverse consequences, the primary protocols to be adhered to involve early detection and treatment under the guidance of expert medical professionals. An effective approach for identifying this form of malignancy involves the examination of Pap smear images. However, in the context of automating cervical cancer detection, many of the existing datasets frequently exhibit missing data points, a factor that can substantially impact the effectiveness of machine learning models. Methods: In response to these hurdles, this research introduces an automated system designed to predict cervical cancer with a dual focus: adeptly managing missing data while attaining remarkable accuracy. The system's core is built upon a stacked ensemble voting classifier model, which amalgamates three distinct machine learning models, all harmoniously integrated with the KNN Imputer to address the issue of missing values. Results: The model put forth attains an accuracy of 99.41%, precision of 97.63%, recall of 95.96%, and an F1 score of 96.76% when incorporating the KNN imputation method. The investigation conducts a comparative analysis, contrasting the performance of this model with seven alternative machine learning algorithms in two scenarios: one where missing values are eliminated, and another employing KNN imputation. This study offers validation of the effectiveness of the proposed model in comparison to current state-of-the-art methodologies. Conclusions: This research delves into the challenge of handling missing data in the dataset utilized for cervical cancer detection. The findings have the potential to assist healthcare professionals in achieving early detection and enhancing the quality of care provided to individuals affected by cervical cancer.

RESUMO

Predicting student performance automatically is of utmost importance, due to the substantial volume of data within educational databases. Educational data mining (EDM) devises techniques to uncover insights from data originating in educational settings. Artificial intelligence (AI) can mine educational data to predict student performance and provide measures to help students avoid failing and learn better. Learning platforms complement traditional learning settings by analyzing student performance, which can help reduce the chance of student failure. Existing methods for student performance prediction in educational data mining faced challenges such as limited accuracy, imbalanced data, and difficulties in feature engineering. These issues hindered effective adaptability and generalization across diverse educational contexts. This study proposes a machine learning-based system with deep convoluted features for the prediction of students' academic performance. The proposed framework is employed to predict student academic performance using balanced as well as, imbalanced datasets using the synthetic minority oversampling technique (SMOTE). In addition, the performance is also evaluated using the original and deep convoluted features. Experimental results indicate that the use of deep convoluted features provides improved prediction accuracy compared to original features. Results obtained using the extra tree classifier with convoluted features show the highest classification accuracy of 99.9%. In comparison with the state-of-the-art approaches, the proposed approach achieved higher performance. This research introduces a powerful AI-driven system for student performance prediction, offering substantial advancements in accuracy compared to existing approaches.

RESUMO

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) have been regarded as the leading cause of death with 32% of the total deaths around the world. Owing to the large number of symptoms related to age, gender, demographics, and ethnicity, diagnosing CVDs is a challenging and complex task. Furthermore, the lack of experienced staff and medical experts, and the non-availability of appropriate testing equipment put the lives of millions of people at risk, especially in under-developed and developing countries. Electronic health records (EHRs) have been utilized for diagnosing several diseases recently and show the potential for CVDs diagnosis as well. However, the accuracy and efficacy of EHRs-based CVD diagnosis are limited by the lack of an appropriate feature set. Often, the feature set is very small and unable to provide enough features for machine learning models to obtain a good fit. This study solves this problem by proposing the novel use of feature extraction from a convolutional neural network (CNN). An ensemble model is designed where a CNN model is used to enlarge the feature set to train linear models including stochastic gradient descent classifier, logistic regression, and support vector machine that comprise the soft-voting based ensemble model. Extensive experiments are performed to analyze the performance of different ratios of feature sets to the training dataset. Performance analysis is carried out using four different datasets and results are compared with recent approaches used for CVDs. Results show the superior performance of the proposed model with 0.93 accuracy, and 0.92 scores each for precision, recall, and F1 score. Results indicate both the superiority of the proposed approach, as well as the generalization of the ensemble model using multiple datasets.

RESUMO

Every year about one million people die due to diseases transmitted by mosquitoes. The infection is transmitted to a person when an infected mosquito stings, injecting the saliva into the human body. The best possible way to prevent a mosquito-borne infection till date is to save the humans from exposure to mosquito bites. This study proposes a Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning based system to detect the presence of two critical disease spreading classes of mosquitoes such as the Aedes and Culex. The proposed system will effectively aid in epidemiology to design evidence-based policies and decisions by analyzing the risks and transmission. The study proposes an effective methodology for the classification of mosquitoes using ML and CNN models. The novel RIFS has been introduced which integrates two types of feature selection techniques - the ROI-based image filtering and the wrappers-based FFS technique. Comparative analysis of various ML and deep learning models has been performed to determine the most appropriate model applicable based on their performance metrics as well as computational needs. Results prove that ETC outperformed among the all applied ML model by providing 0.992 accuracy while VVG16 has outperformed other CNN models by giving 0.986 of accuracy.

RESUMO

Breast cancer is a common cause of female mortality in developing countries. Screening and early diagnosis can play an important role in the prevention and treatment of these cancers. This study proposes an ensemble learning-based voting classifier that combines the logistic regression and stochastic gradient descent classifier with deep convoluted features for the accurate detection of cancerous patients. Deep convoluted features are extracted from the microscopic features and fed to the ensemble voting classifier. This idea provides an optimized framework that accurately classifies malignant and benign tumors with improved accuracy. Results obtained using the voting classifier with convoluted features demonstrate that the highest classification accuracy of 100% is achieved. The proposed approach revealed the accuracy enhancement in comparison with the state-of-the-art approaches.
