The phenomenon of spontaneous droplet transport has a wide range of implications in water collection, microfluidic manipulation, oil-water separation, and various other fields. Achieving efficient and controllable spontaneous droplet transport is therefore of paramount importance. This study investigates the potential of surface charge manipulation to enhance spontaneous droplet transport through comprehensive molecular dynamics simulations. Our findings reveal that the surface charge of the substrate significantly influences its wettability, reducing the contact angle of the droplet and increasing both the contact area and interaction energy. Moreover, we introduce a novel approach to enhance droplet mobility by creating a surface charge gradient on the substrate. By introducing bands with varying charges along a specific direction of the substrate, the droplet experiences a force directed toward regions of increasing charge, thereby facilitating its movement. Importantly, the driving mechanism of droplet motion is well explained by combining classical electrowetting theory with the analysis of the droplet's advancing and receding contact angles, which demonstrates that a more pronounced surface charge gradient generates greater force and enhances droplet mobility. These findings offer valuable insights into the design of microfluidic systems and related applications based on electrowetting.

BACKGROUND: Endometriosis is a common chronic gynecological condition characterized by the presence of endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity, leading to chronic inflammation, pelvic nodules and masses, pelvic pain, and infertility. Acupuncture has been shown to improve pain associated with endometriosis by modulating abnormal levels of prostaglandins, ß-endorphins, dynorphins, electrolytes, and substance P. This review aims to evaluate the clinical efficacy of acupuncture in treating endometriosis, specifically focusing on its efficacy in relieving pain associated with endometriosis. METHODS: A comprehensive search was conducted in eight databases (PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), the China Biology Medicine (CBM), Wanfang, and Weipu database) to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published from database inception to December 16, 2022, which investigated the use of acupuncture for endometriosis-related pain. Two researchers independently screened articles, extracted data, and assessed methodological quality using the Cochrane Collaboration's risk of bias tool. Meta-analysis was performed using Stata statistical software. RESULTS: A total of 1991 articles were identified, and ultimately, 14 studies involving 793 patients (387 in the acupuncture group and 359 in the control group) were included. The control interventions in the included studies included placebo, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), and Western medicine treatments. Meta-analysis results showed that compared to the control group, acupuncture treatment for pain associated with endometriosis demonstrated significant reductions in pain severity [SMD = - 1.10, 95% CI (- 1.45, - 0.75), P < 0.001], improved response rate [RR = 1.25, 95% CI (1.09, 1.44), P = 0.02], and decreased serum CA-125 levels [SMD = - 0.62, 95% CI (- 1.15, - 0.08), P = 0.024]. Furthermore, subgroup analysis revealed that electroacupuncture and auricular acupuncture were superior to the control group in reducing pain severity, while auricular acupuncture and warm needling showed greater clinical efficacy compared to the control group. However, there were no significant differences between electroacupuncture or fire needling and the control group in terms of pain relief. The findings suggest that acupuncture is effective in improving pain associated with endometriosis. CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, acupuncture is effective in alleviating dysmenorrhea and pelvic pain associated with endometriosis, reducing serum CA-125 levels, decreasing the size of nodules, improving patients' quality of life, and lowering the recurrence rate. However, it should be noted that the current evidence is limited by the design and quality flaws of the original studies, as well as a lack of research specifically focusing on subtypes of acupuncture. Therefore, caution should be exercised when interpreting the results.

Constructed wetland systems have been widely used in China due to their advantages of good treatment effect, low cost and environmental friendliness. However, traditional constructed wetlands have challenges in application such as deactivation due to filler clogging, difficulty in filler replacement and low adaptability. To address the above problems, this research proposes a modular filler design constructed wetland based on the concept of assembly construction, which can quickly replace the clogged filler without destroying the overall structure of the wetland. Four commonly used fillers were selected and applied to the pilot system of the assembled constructed wetland in this study, in order to investigate the purification effect of the constructed wetland system with different filler module combinations (CW1, CW2, CW3) on the simulated wastewater. The results showed that the filler combination CW1 was the best for the removal of NH4+-N, and for TP and COD, CW2 has the best removal effect. Therefore, the assembled constructed wetland is adjustable and substantially reduces the maintenance cost, which provides technical guidance for its application in engineering.

The impact behaviors of droplets on nanostructure-arrayed surfaces are ubiquitous in nature and engineering applications. And the influence of the impact position of a droplet on its bouncing dynamics is of great significance since there is inevitable randomness in the impact position of droplets on the surface of nanostructured arrays, but the difference in the dynamics process caused by this randomness has not been recognized. Here, by using molecular dynamics simulations, the effect of impact position on the bouncing dynamics of a water droplet on nanopillar-arrayed surfaces is systematically investigated. The simulation results highlight that the impact position plays an important role in droplet dynamics after impact, especially at the retraction stage, and the effect of impact position on the bouncing behavior is highly sensitive to the impact velocity. Importantly, from the point of energy conversion, the droplet deformation and contact state jointly determine whether the droplet can bounce back or not, which reveals the mechanism of impact position effects on the bouncing behavior of the droplet. Interestingly, the effect of impact position would be weakened with an increase in the size ratio of the droplet diameter to nanopillar spacing, and this effect becomes negligible when the size ratio is greater than 5.2. These findings demonstrate the key role played by the impact position and may provide new insights into the practical application of nanostructure-arrayed surfaces.

Reactive red 2 (RR2) azo dye wastewater poses a serious hazard to the water environment health, so using a novel and efficient Electro- Ce(III) (E- Ce(III)) process takes on a critical significance in treating RR2 dye wastewater. In this study, the effects of a variety of single-factor conditions on RR2 removal efficiency were evaluated in depth. The results indicated that the optimal experimental conditions are as reaction temperature of 25 °C, Na2SO4 concentration of 25 mM, Ce(III) concentration of 0.3 mM, pH of 4.0, and current density of 40.0 mA/cm2. When the RR2 dye wastewater was treated for 40 min under the optimal experimental conditions, a high removal rate of 99.8% for RR2 was obtained. It is suggested that the background ion PO43- in the dye wastewater inhibits the E-Ce (III) process, whereas Cl- facilitates this process. Moreover, the yield of Ce(IV) increases with the increase of the current density. At the current density of 40.0 mA/cm2, a reasonable energy consumption of 3.85 kW h/gTOC for the process was obtained after the 3-h treatment. The effects of different degradation processes (including Direct Electrooxidation (DEO), single Ce(III), and E-Ce (III)) on RR2 removal efficiency and TOC change were compared. The types of oxidizing substances in the E-Ce (III) process were detected, and the mechanism of RR2 oxidative degradation in the E-Ce (III) process was summarized. The result suggests that the E-Ce (III) process has low power consumption. Meanwhile, in the E-Ce (III) process, free reactive Ce(IV) with strong oxidation is continuously generated, RR2 can be efficiently degraded. And the continuous cycle transformation between Ce(III) and Ce(IV) maintains the strong oxidation of the process. The contribution of free reactive Ce(IV) and DEO to RR2 degradation was obtained as 58.8% and 39.8%, respectively. The combined effect of Ce(IV) and DEO played a major role in the E-Ce (III) process, while ·OH exhibited a relatively weak effect (nearly 1.4%). RR2 was comprised of 13 major intermediates, and the biodegradability of wastewater was improved significantly after treatment, thus facilitating the further mineralization and biodegradation of the products. The E- Ce(III) process is novel, efficient, and environment-friendly, and has a large market application space, suggesting that it can be applied as an efficient, economic, and sustainable water treatment process.

As a low-cost demand-side management application, non-intrusive load monitoring (NILM) offers feedback on appliance-level electricity usage without extra sensors. NILM is defined as disaggregating loads only from aggregate power measurements through analytical tools. Although low-rate NILM tasks have been conducted by unsupervised approaches based on graph signal processing (GSP) concepts, enhancing feature selection can still contribute to performance improvement. Therefore, a novel unsupervised GSP-based NILM approach with power sequence feature (STS-UGSP) is proposed in this paper. First, state transition sequences (STS) are extracted from power readings and featured in clustering and matching, instead of power changes and steady-state power sequences featured in other GSP-based NILM works. When generating graph in clustering, dynamic time warping distances between STSs are calculated for similarity quantification. After clustering, a forward-backward power STS matching algorithm is proposed for searching each STS pair of an operational cycle, utilizing both power and time information. Finally, load disaggregation results are obtained based on STS clustering and matching results. STS-UGSP is validated on three publicly accessible datasets from various regions, generally outperforming four benchmarks in two evaluation metrics. Besides, STS-UGSP estimates closer energy consumption of appliances to the ground truth than benchmarks.

Six-axis force/torque sensors are widely installed in manipulators to help researchers achieve closed-loop control. When manipulators work in comic space and deep sea, the adverse ambient environment will cause various degrees of damage to F/T sensors. If the disability of one or two dimensions is restored by self-restoration methods, the robustness and practicality of F/T sensors can be considerably enhanced. The coupling effect is an important characteristic of multi-axis F/T sensors, which implies that all dimensions of F/T sensors will influence each other. We can use this phenomenon to speculate the broken dimension by other regular dimensions. Back propagation neural network (BPNN) is a classical feedforward neural network, which consists of several layers and adopts the back-propagation algorithm to train networks. Hyperparameters of BPNN cannot be updated by training, but they impact the network performance directly. Hence, the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is adopted to tune the hyperparameters of BPNN. In this work, each dimension of a six-axis F/T sensor is regarded as an element in the input vector, and the relationships among six dimensions can be obtained using optimized BPNN. The average MSE of restoring one dimension and two dimensions over the testing data is 1.1693×10-5 and 3.4205×10-5, respectively. Furthermore, the average quote error of one restored dimension and two restored dimensions are 8.800×10-3 and 8.200×10-3, respectively. The analysis of experimental results illustrates that the proposed fault restoration method based on PSO-BPNN is viable and practical. The F/T sensor restored using the proposed method can reach the original measurement precision.

The performance of a six-axis force/torque sensor (F/T sensor) severely decreased when working in an extreme environment due to its sensitivity to ambient temperature. This paper puts forward an ensemble temperature compensation method based on the whale optimization algorithm (WOA) tuning the least-square support vector machine (LSSVM) and trimmed bagging. To be specific, the stimulated annealing algorithm (SA) was hybridized to the WOA to solve the local entrapment problem, and an adaptive trimming strategy is proposed to obtain the optimal trim portion for the trimmed bagging. In addition, inverse quote error (invQE) and cross-validation are employed to estimate the fitness better in training process. The maximum absolute measurement error caused by temperature decreased from 3.34% to 3.9×10-3% of full scale after being compensated by the proposed method. The analyses of experiments illustrate the ensemble hWOA-LSSVM based on improved trimmed bagging improves the precision and stability of F/T sensors and possesses the strengths of local search ability and better adaptability.

Inspired by the theory of "liver as the thief of five organs", the authors believe that although psoriasis vulgaris manifests externally, its root cause lies internally in liver disharmony. During the active and stable phases, conventional acupuncture combined with liver-regulating wood-softening acupuncture method is used to regulate blood and harmonize the liver, addressing both the symptoms and the root cause. During the remission phase, liver-regulating wood-softening acupuncture method is employed to soothe the liver and restrain the yin, while also regulating and nurturing the emotional state. This study provides a clinical approach to acupuncture treatment for psoriasis vulgaris.

OBJECTIVES: To observe the effects of the local stimulation with 3 acupuncture techniques, i.e. Canggui Tanxue (needle insertion method like dark tortoise detecting point) technique, electroacupuncture (EA) and warm needling (WN) with filiform needles on shoulder pain, shoulder joint function, quality of life, inflammatory indicators and recurrence rate in the patients with chronic scapulohumeral periarthritis (CSP), so as to explore the optimal needling method of acupuncture for the predominant symptoms of CSP during the attack stage in the patients. METHODS: A total of 108 patients with CSP were randomly divided into a manual acupuncture (MA) group (36 cases, one case dropped off), a WN group (36 cases, 3 cases dropped off) and an EA group (36 cases, 1 case dropped off). In the three groups, Jianqian (EX-UE12), Jianyu (LI15), Jianzhen (SI9), Ashi (Extra) and Yanglingquan (GB34) on the affected side were selected. Canggui Tanxue needling technique, WN technique and EA were delivered in the MA group, the WN group and the EA group, respectively, 30 min each time, 3 times weekly for 4 weeks. The Neer test scores were comparedï¼the visual analogue scale (VAS) was used to assess the degree of shoulder joint painï¼the daily life activity abilities was evaluated using the activities of daily living (ADL) scaleï¼the serum prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) content was measured using ELISA before and after treatment. The effectiveness rate and recurrence rate were calculated, and the occurrences of adverse reactions were recorded. RESULTS: Compared with the scores before treatment, the scores of pain, joint function, and range of motion as well as the total score of Neer test were all increased after treatment in the three groups (P<0.05)ï¼the VAS score, ADL score and the content of serum PGE2 were decreased (P<0.05). After treatment, the pain score of Neer test in the EA group and the WN group were higher than those of the MA group (P<0.05), the joint function score of Neer test in the MA group and the WN group were higher than that of the EA group (P<0.05), and the range of motion score of Neer test in the MA group was higher when compared with the EA and WN groups (P<0.05). There was no statistical difference in the total score of Neer score among the three groups. VAS score in the EA group was lower than that of either the WN group or the MA group (P<0.05). ADL score in the MA group was lower compared with that of the WN group (P<0.05). PGE2 levels in both the WN group and the MA group were lower than that of the EA group (P<0.05). The total effective rate was 85.71% (30/35) in the MA group, 91.43% (32/35) in the EA group and 90.91% (30/33) in the WN group, there was no statistical differences among the three groups. At the end of the 6-month follow-up visit after treatment, there was no significant difference in the recurrence rate among three groups. No serious adverse reaction was found. CONCLUSIONS: In the treatment of CSP, the short-term effect is equivalent among EA, WN and MA. But, the analgesic effect is the best in the EA group, the treatment for anti-inflammation is the most effective in the MA and WN groups, and the needling technique of Canggui Tanxue in the MA group obtains the most favorable effect of releasing adhesion and recovering the range of motion in the shoulder joint.

Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) stands as a persistent inflammatory ailment predominantly impacting the axial skeleton, with the immune system and inflammation intricately entwined in its pathogenesis. This study endeavors to elucidate gender-specific patterns in immune cell infiltration and diverse forms of cell demise within the AS milieu. The aim is to refine the diagnosis and treatment of gender-specific AS patients, thereby advancing patient outcomes. In the pursuit of our investigation, two datasets (GSE25101 and GSE73754) pertinent to ankylosing spondylitis (AS) were meticulously collected and normalized from the GEO database. Employing the CIBERSORT algorithm, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of immune cell infiltration across distinct demographic groups and genders. Subsequently, we discerned differentially expressed genes (DEGs) associated with various cell death modalities in AS patients and their healthy counterparts. Our focus extended specifically to ferroptosis-related DEGs (FRDEGs), cuproptosis-related DEGs (CRDEGs), anoikis-related DEGs (ARDEGs), autophagy-related DEGs (AURDEGs), and pyroptosis-related DEGs (PRDEGs). Further scrutiny involved discerning disparities in these DEGs between AS patients and healthy controls, as well as disparities between male and female patients. Leveraging machine learning (ML) methodologies, we formulated disease prediction models employing cell death-related DEGs (CDRDEGs) and identified biomarkers intertwined with cell death in AS. Relative to healthy controls, a myriad of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) linked to cell death surfaced in AS patients. Among AS patients, 82 FRDEGs, 29 CRDEGs, 54 AURDEGs, 21 ARDEGs, and 74 PRDEGs were identified. In male AS patients, these numbers were 78, 33, 55, 24, and 94, respectively. Female AS patients exhibited 66, 41, 40, 17, and 82 DEGs in the corresponding categories. Additionally, 36 FRDEGs, 14 CRDEGs, 19 AURDEGs, 10 ARDEGs, and 36 PRDEGs exhibited differential expression between male and female AS patients. Employing machine learning techniques, LASSO, RF, and SVM-RFE were employed to discern key DEGs related to cell death (CDRDDEGs). The six pivotal CDRDDEGs in AS patients, healthy controls, were identified as CLIC4, BIRC2, MATK, PKN2, SLC25A5, and EDEM1. For male AS patients, the three crucial CDRDDEGs were EDEM1, MAP3K11, and TRIM21, whereas for female AS patients, COX7B, PEX2, and RHEB took precedence. Furthermore, the trio of DDX3X, CAPNS1, and TMSB4Y emerged as the key CDRDDEGs distinguishing between male and female AS patients. In the realm of immune correlation, the immune infiltration abundance in female patients mirrored that of healthy controls. Notably, key genes exhibited a positive correlation with T-cell CD4 memory activation when comparing male and female patient samples. This study engenders a more profound comprehension of the molecular underpinnings governing immune cell infiltration and cell death in ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Furthermore, the discernment of gender-specific disparities among AS patients underscores the clinical significance of these findings. By identifying DEGs associated with diverse cell death modalities, this study proffers invaluable insights into potential clinical targets for AS patients, taking cognizance of gender-specific nuances. The identification of gender-specific biological targets lays the groundwork for the development of tailored diagnostic and therapeutic strategies, heralding a pivotal step toward personalized care for AS patients.

BACKGROUND: Depression, a prevalent mental disorder, has shown an increasing trend in recent years, imposing a significant burden on health and society. Adequate sleep has been proven to reduce the incidence of depression. This study seeks to explore how Weekend Catch-up Sleep (WCS) is connected with the prevalence of depression in the American population. METHODS: The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) provides representative data for the U.S. POPULATION: We utilized data from the 2017-2018 and 2019-2020 cycles. Depression was operationally defined as a PHQ-9 score exceeding 10. WCS duration was categorized into five groups: no change in sleep duration (=0 h), decreased sleep duration (<0), short catch-up sleep duration (>0 h, ≤1 h), moderate catch-up sleep duration (>1 h, <2 h), and long catch-up sleep duration (≥2 h). RESULTS: Among the 8039 individuals, the distribution of WCS duration was as follows: no change (WCS = 0 h) in 2999 individuals (37.3 %), decreased sleep (WCS < 0 h) in 1199 individuals (14.9 %), short catch-up sleep (0 h < WCS ≤ 1 h) in 1602 individuals (19.9 %), moderate catch-up sleep (1 h < WCS < 2 h) in 479 individuals (6.0 %), and long catch-up sleep (WCS ≥ 2 h) in 1760 individuals (21.9 %). Acting by adjustment for all covariates in a multiple regression analysis, we discovered that persons with 1 to 2 h of weekend catch-up sleep had a substantially low prevalence of depression concerning those with WCS = 0 (OR 0.22, 95 % CI 0.08-0.59, P = 0.007). CONCLUSION: The prevalence of depression in individuals engaging in weekend catch-up sleep for 1 to 2 h is lower than those who do not catch up on weekends. This discovery on the treatment and prevention of depression provides a new perspective. However, further prospective research and clinical trials are needed for a comprehensive investigation.

BACKGROUND: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is defined as breast cancer that is negative for estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), and human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER-2) in cancer tissue. The lack of specific biomarkers makes the diagnosis and prognosis of TNBC challenging. METHOD: A comprehensive literature review and bibliometric analysis was performed using CiteSpace, VOSviewer and Scimago Graphica. RESULTS: TNBC biomarker research has been growing rapidly in recent years, reflecting the enormous academic interest in TNBC biomarker research. A total of 127 journals published relevant studies and 1749 authors were involved in the field, with developed countries such as the United States, France, and the United Kingdom contributing greatly to the field. Collaborative network analysis found that the research in this field has not yet formed good communication and interaction, and the partnership should be strengthened in the future in order to promote the in-depth development of TNBC biomarker research. Comprehensive analysis of keywords and co-cited literature, etc. found that TNBC biomarker research mainly focuses on immune checkpoint markers, microenvironment-related markers, circulating tumour DNA, metabolic markers, genomics markers and so on. These research hotspots will help to better understand the molecular characteristics and biological processes of TNBC, and provide more accurate biomarkers for its diagnosis, treatment and prognosis. CONCLUSIONS: The bibliometric analysis highlighted global trends and key directions in TNBC biomarker research. Future developments in TNBC biomarker research are likely to be in the direction of multi-omics integration, meticulous study of the microenvironment, targeted therapeutic biomarkers, application of liquid biopsy, application of machine learning and artificial intelligence, and individualised therapeutic strategies. Young scholars should learn and collaborate across disciplines, pay attention to new technologies and methods, improve their data analysis skills, and continue to follow up on the latest research trends in order to meet the challenges and opportunities in the field of TNBC biomarkers.

As the second most common neurodegenerative disease globally, Parkinson's disease (PD) affects millions of people worldwide. In recent years, the scientific publications related to PD biomarker research have exploded, reflecting the growing interest in unraveling the complex pathophysiology of PD. In this study, we aim to use various bibliometric tools to identify key scientific concepts, detect emerging trends, and analyze the global trends and development of PD biomarker research.The research encompasses various stages of biomarker development, including exploration, identification, and multi-modal research. MOVEMENT DISORDERS emerged as the leading journal in terms of publications and citations. Key authors such as Mollenhauer and Salem were identified, while the University of Pennsylvania and USA stood out in collaboration and research output. NEUROSCIENCES emerged as the most important research direction. Key biomarker categories include α-synuclein-related markers, neurotransmitter-related markers, inflammation and immune system-related markers, oxidative stress and mitochondrial function-related markers, and brain imaging-related markers. Furthermore, future trends in PD biomarker research focus on exosomes and plasma biomarkers, miRNA, cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers, machine learning applications, and animal models of PD. These trends contribute to early diagnosis, disease progression monitoring, and understanding the pathological mechanisms of PD.

BACKGROUND: Neuroinflammation is involved in the advancement of depression. Du-moxibustion can treat depression. Here, we explored whether Du-moxibustion could alleviate neuroglia-associated neuro-inflammatory process in chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) mice. METHODS: C57BL/6J mice were distributed into five groups. Except for the CON group, other four groups underwent CUMS for four consecutive weeks, and Du-moxibustion was given simultaneously after modeling. Behavioral tests were then carried out. Additionally, Western blot was conducted to measure the relative expression levels of high-mobility group box 1 (HMGB1), toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88), and nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB). Immunofluorescence was employed to evaluate the positive cells of ionized calcium binding adapter molecule 1 (Iba-1) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP). Furthermore, interleukin-1 beta (IL-1ß) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) were analyzed using an ELISA assay. RESULTS: We found that CUMS induced depression-like behaviors, such as reduced sucrose preference ratio, decreased locomotor and exploratory activity, decreased the time in open arms and prolonged immobility. Furthermore, versus the CON group, the expression of HMGB1, TLR4, MyD88, NF-κB, positive cells of Iba-1, IL-1ß and TNF-α were increased but positive cells of GFAP were decreased in CUMS group. However, the detrimental effects were ameliorated by treatment with CUMS+FLU and CUMS+DM. LIMITATIONS: A shortage of this study is that only CUMS model of depression were used, while other depression model were not included. CONCLUSIONS: Du-moxibustion alleviates depression-like behaviors in CUMS mice mainly by reducing neuroinflammation, which offers novel insights into the potential treatment of depression.

Background: Migraine imposes a substantial global burden, impacting patients and society. Pharmacotherapy, as a primary treatment, entails specific adverse reactions. Emphasizing these reactions is pivotal for improving treatment strategies and enhancing patients' well-being. Thus, we conducted a comprehensive bibliometric and visual analysis of relevant literature. Methodology: We conducted a comprehensive search on the Science Citation Index Expanded within the Web of Science, restricting the literature for analysis based on criteria such as document type, publication date, and language. Subsequently, we utilized various analytical tools, including VOSviewer, Scimago Graphica, the R package 'bibliometrix', CiteSpace, and Excel programs, for a meticulous examination and systematic organization of data concerning journals, authors, countries/regions, institutions, keywords, and references. Results: By August 31, 2023, the literature was distributed across 379 journals worldwide, authored by 4,235 individuals from 1726 institutions. It featured 2,363 keywords and 38,412 references. 'HEADACHE' led in publication count, with 'SILBERSTEIN S' as the most prolific author. The United States ranked highest in publication volume, with 'UNIV COPENHAGEN' leading among institutions. Conclusion: Our research findings indicate that researchers in the field continue to maintain a focus on the calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) system and explore diverse mechanisms for drug development through the application of novel biotechnological approaches. Furthermore, it is imperative to enhance the assessment of clinical trial outcomes, consistently monitor the efficacy and safety of prominent drugs such as Erenumab and Fremanezumab. There is a need for further evaluation of acute and preventive treatments tailored to different populations and varying types of migraine.

In this study, the sodium dodecyl sulfate intercalated modified magnesium-aluminum hydrotalcite/sodium alginate/sodium carboxymethylcellulose (modified LDHs/SA/CMC) composite gel spheres were synthesized and their efficacies in adsorbing the cationic dye rhodamine B (RhB) from aqueous solutions were evaluated. The effects of adsorption time, pH and temperature on the adsorption of RhB by spheres were investigated. Remarkably, the modified LDHs/SA/CMC gel spheres achieved adsorption equilibrium after 600 min at 25 °C, and the removal rate of RhB at 60 mg/L reached 91.49 % with the maximum adsorption capacity of 59.64 mg/g. The gel spheres maintained over 80 % efficacy across four adsorption cycles. Kinetic and isotherm analyses revealed that the adsorption of RhB conformed to the secondary kinetic model and the Langmuir isotherm, indicating a spontaneous and exothermic nature of the adsorption process. The adsorption mechanisms of modified LDHs/SA/CMC gel spheres on RhB dyes include electrostatic adsorption, hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interactions. In conclusion, modified LDHs/SA/CMC gel sphere is a green, simple, recyclable and efficient adsorbent, which is expected to be widely used for the treatment of cationic dye wastewater.

BACKGROUND: Migraine, as a prevalent neurologic disorder, involves intricate and yet incompletely elucidated pathophysiological mechanisms. A plethora of research findings underscores the pivotal role played by astrocytes in the progression of migraines. In order to elucidate the current advances and directions in research pertaining to astrocytes in migraines, we conducted bibliometric analysis of relevant literature and visualized the results. Subsequently, we expound upon these findings to contribute to the evolving understanding of the role of astrocytes in migraine pathophysiology. METHODS: On November 21, 2023, we conducted a search on Web of Science (WOS), restricting the document type to articles or reviews and language to English. Following a meticulous selection process involving three researchers, we identified the literature to be included in our analysis. Subsequently, we employed Microsoft Office Excel programs, R, VOSviewer, Scimago Graphica, and CiteSpace software to conduct visualization analysis of basic information and trends regarding journals, countries/regions, and influential authors, institutions, keywords, and papers. RESULTS: As of November 21, 2023, relevant literature has been published in 71 journals across 27 countries/regions. This corpus comprises contributions from 576 authors affiliated with 220 institutions, encompassing 865 keywords and referencing 6065 scholarly articles. CEPHALALGIA stands out as the most influential journal in this field, while authors PIETROBON D and DALKARA T have significant impact. The United States is highly influential, with CNR and UNIV PADUA emerging as highly influential institutions. The predominant category is Neurosciences. CONCLUSIONS: Future investigators may continue to focus on migraines with aura, familial hemiplegic migraine (FHM), and the crucial calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) system. Employing advanced observational techniques, such as imaging, researchers should pay attention to cellular and tissue structures, such as microglia and the trigeminal ganglion, as well as mechanisms involving inflammation and central sensitization. Moreover, animal models are paramount in obtaining high-quality evidence.

The British Medical Journal published the Acupuncture research album which carried viewpoints, expert consensus, research methods and other genres of papers, providing an authoritative reference for standardizing the design of clinical randomized controlled trial (RCT) of acupuncture and improving the quality of clinical research. Based on the experts' consensus of "acupuncture album" on RCT, combining clinical practice and the related literature reports, and many existing problems existing in the design, we, in the present paper, analyzed ways to improve the design quality of clinical RCT of acupuncture, starting from improving the methodological quality and repeatability of clinica RCT, so as to provide methodological guidance for the design of clinical trials and to promote the standardization of clinical trials of acupuncture.
