In recent years, the evolution of antibiotic resistance has led to the inefficacy of several antibiotics, and the reverse of resistance was a novel method to solve this problem. We previously demonstrated that matrine (Mat) and berberine hydrochloride (Ber) had a synergistic effect against multidrug-resistant Escherichia coli (MDREC). This study aimed to demonstrate the effect of Mat combined with Ber in reversing the resistance of MDREC. The MDREC was sequenced passaged in the presence of Mat, Ber, and a combination of Mat and Ber, which did not affect its growth. The reverse rate was up to 39.67% after MDREC exposed to Mat + Ber for 15 days. The strain that reversed resistance was named drug resistance reversed E. coli (DRREC) and its resistance to ampicillin, streptomycin, gentamicin, and tetracycline was reversed. The MIC of Gentamicin Sulfate (GS) against DRREC decreased 128-fold to 0.63 µg/mL, and it was stable within 20 generations. Furthermore, the susceptible phenotype of DRREC remained stable within 20 generations, as well. The LD50 of DRREC for chickens was 8.69 × 109 CFU/mL. qRT-PCR assays revealed that the transcript levels of antibiotic-resistant genes and virulence genes in the DRREC strain were significantly lower than that in the MDREC strain (P < 0.05). In addition, GS decreased the death, decreased the bacterial loading in organs, alleviated the injury of the spleen and liver, and decreased the cytokine levels in the chickens infected by the DRREC strain. In contrast, the therapeutic effect of GS in chickens infected with MDREC was not as evident. These findings suggest that the combination of Mat and Ber has potential for reversing resistance to MDREC.

Duck hepatitis A virus 1 (DHAV-1) is one of the main contagious pathogens that causes rapid death of ducklings. To illuminate the potential of DHAV-1-infected underlying mechanisms, we analyzed the mRNA and microRNA (miRNA) expression profiles of duck embryonic hepatocytes (DEHs) in response to DHAV-1. We found 3410 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and 142 differentially expressed miRNAs (DEMs) at 36 h after DHAV-1 infection. Additionally, DEGs and the target genes of miRNA expression were analyzed and enriched utilizing GO and KEGG, which may be crucial for immune responses, viral resistance, and mitophagy. For instance, the dysregulation of DDX58, DHX58, IRF7, IFIH1, STING1, TRAF3, CALCOCO2, OPTN, PINK1, and MFN2 in DHAV-1-infected DEHs was verified by RT-qPCR. Then, the association analysis of mRNAs and miRNAs was constructed utilizing the protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks, and the expressions of main miRNAs were confirmed, including miR-132c-3p, miR-6542-3p, and novel-mir163. These findings reveal a synthetic characterization of the mRNA and miRNA in DHAV-1-infected DEHs and advance the understanding of molecular mechanism in DHAV-1 infection, which may provide a hint for the interactions of virus and host.

Cancer is a highly heterogeneous disease caused by dysregulation in different cell types and tissues. However, different cancers may share common mechanisms. It is critical to identify decisive genes involved in the development and progression of cancer, and joint analysis of multiple cancers may help to discover overlapping mechanisms among different cancers. In this study, we proposed a fusion feature selection framework attributed to ensemble method named Fisher score and Gradient Boosting Decision Tree (FS-GBDT) to select robust and decisive feature genes in high-dimensional gene expression datasets. Joint analysis of 11 human cancers types was conducted to explore the key feature genes subset of cancer. To verify the efficacy of FS-GBDT, we compared it with four other common feature selection algorithms by Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier. The algorithm achieved highest indicators, outperforms other four methods. In addition, we performed gene ontology analysis and literature validation of the key gene subset, and this subset were classified into several functional modules. Functional modules can be used as markers of disease to replace single gene which is difficult to be found repeatedly in applications of gene chip, and to study the core mechanisms of cancer.

Chinese yam polysaccharides (CYPs) have received wide attention for their immunomodulatory activity. Our previous studies had discovered that the Chinese yam polysaccharide PLGA-stabilized Pickering emulsion (CYP-PPAS) can serve as an efficient adjuvant to trigger powerful humoral and cellular immunity. Recently, positively charged nano-adjuvants are easily taken up by antigen-presenting cells, potentially resulting in lysosomal escape, the promotion of antigen cross-presentation, and the induction of CD8 T-cell response. However, reports on the practical application of cationic Pickering emulsions as adjuvants are very limited. Considering the economic damage and public-health risks caused by the H9N2 influenza virus, it is urgent to develop an effective adjuvant for boosting humoral and cellular immunity against influenza virus infection. Here, we applied polyethyleneimine-modified Chinese yam polysaccharide PLGA nanoparticles as particle stabilizers and squalene as the oil core to fabricate a positively charged nanoparticle-stabilized Pickering emulsion adjuvant system (PEI-CYP-PPAS). The cationic Pickering emulsion of PEI-CYP-PPAS was utilized as an adjuvant for the H9N2 Avian influenza vaccine, and the adjuvant activity was compared with the Pickering emulsion of CYP-PPAS and the commercial adjuvant (aluminum adjuvant). The PEI-CYP-PPAS, with a size of about 1164.66 nm and a ζ potential of 33.23 mV, could increase the H9N2 antigen loading efficiency by 83.99%. After vaccination with Pickering emulsions based on H9N2 vaccines, PEI-CYP-PPAS generated higher HI titers and stronger IgG antibodies than CYP-PPAS and Alum and increased the immune organ index of the spleen and bursa of Fabricius without immune organ injury. Moreover, treatment with PEI-CYP-PPAS/H9N2 induced CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell activation, a high lymphocyte proliferation index, and increased cytokine expression of IL-4, IL-6, and IFN-γ. Thus, compared with the CYP-PPAS and aluminum adjuvant, the cationic nanoparticle-stabilized vaccine delivery system of PEI-CYP-PPAS was an effective adjuvant for H9N2 vaccination to elicit powerful humoral and cellular immune responses.

The emergency of COVID-19 leads to almost all unnecessary activities being banned because of city lockdowns, which results in the economy and human mobility being strictly restricted. While affecting economic development, it has brought some environmental benefits. As a critical link to collection and distribution, ports have been deeply impacted by COVID-19, including quarantine time and operational efficiency, and even cause unexpected port congestion. This study empirically examines the relationship between the COVID-19 pandemic, port congestion and air quality in Chinese port cities using classical and system panel models. We find that the COVID-19 pandemic and port congestion significantly influence air quality in port cities. Managerial implications include the ensuring of port workers' shifts, the unblocking of port logistics, and the cooperation between transportation, customs, and quarantine departments, which can reduce the time of ships at berths and improve the air quality in port cities.

Staphylococcus saprophyticus is frequently involved in various difficult-to-treat infections due to the formation of biofilms. To identify useful antibiofilm strategies, this study explored the efficacy and mechanism of baicalin in enhancing the ability of azithromycin against multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus saprophyticus-Liu-2016-Liyang, China-francolin (MDRSS) biofilms in vitro and in vivo. When azithromycin was used in combination with baicalin, the minimum inhibitory concentration in biofilm (MICB) for azithromycin decreased 4- to 512-fold. Compared with the azithromycin and baicalin groups, the combination of azithromycin and baicalin could not reduce the biofilm biomass, but the dispersion rates of biofilm were decreased and the bactericidal ability was increased. Furthermore, the relative transcript levels of WalK/R system-related genes were upregulated by the addition of baicalin or azithromycin plus baicalin compared with that of the azithromycin and blank control groups. The strong correlation relationship between the WalK/R system and the bactericidal index demonstrated that baicalin enhanced the bactericidal effect of azithromycin on MDRSS biofilms by modulating the WalK/R system. In the mouse cutaneous infection model, the combination of azithromycin and baicalin succeeded in eradicating MDRSS and decreasing pathological injuries. This study indicated that baicalin has the potential to be an adjuvant to enhance the antimicrobial activity of azithromycin against MDRSS in the biofilm form by modulating the WalK/R system.

Digitalization has been the new engine of development that drives the regional economy, but scant empirical studies investigate the linkage between the social sphere digitalization and green total factor productivity (GTFP). Based on the quantitative and comprehensive index of digitalization development, the study calculates the digital economy from the social sphere in China's 279 cities between 2011 and 2019. Besides, the impact of social sphere digitalization on GTFP is examined using the dynamic spatial Durbin model (SDM). The basic results show that the development of the digital economy in the social sphere positively influences the growth of GTFP, and there is a spatial spillover effect. Specifically, the 1% increase in social sphere digitalization will bring a 0.0705% increase in GTFP. Furthermore, influencing mechanisms of the digital economy on GTFP are examined, namely industrial structure upgrading, human capital, and technological invention effects. Last, the heterogeneity analyses show that the influencing intensity is different in Eastern, Middle, and Western cities as well as in resource-based and non-resource-based cities. Our findings provide new evidence for the relationship between the social sphere digitalization and green development, and also give managerial implications for other cities or countries that are seeking energy and emission-reduction measures.

The establishment of the green belt and road is an inevitable choice to conform to and lead the green and low-carbon cycle development and an inherent requirement for sustainable development. Therefore, we establish an evaluation system of green development oriented to carbon neutrality, and calculate the green development level (GDL) of the provinces along the belt and road in China from 2003 to 2018 by using a three-dimensional evaluation model. In addition, this paper employs the Obstacle Degree Model to identify the main obstacle factors that affect GDL, and provides targeted and differentiated countermeasures and suggestions for improving the regional GDL. Our results suggested that the overall GDL has improved, but not obvious, with a low level. The GDL and coordination degree between different regions exist certain differences, and its spatial pattern is characterized by "high in southeast and northeast, low in southwest and northwest". From a regional perspective, innovation capacity is the key factor that affects the green development of the region in southeast, northeast, northwest and southwest China. Driving economic green transformation and promoting industrial energy conservation and emission reduction through technological innovation are the internal driving forces to achieve regional green sustainable development.

The spread of the COVID-19 pandemic has caused severe damage to the Chinese cruise market since 2020. It is crucial for the local government to reformulate the subsidy policy to respond to the changing environment. We propose a cruise supply chain system to investigate the choice of subsidy recipients and the setting of optimal subsidy levels with a budget-constrained government during the access restriction period and post-epidemic period. We find that in both periods, as long as the subsidy achieves the optimal level, either the cruise lines, the travel agency, or the passengers as recipients of the subsidy policy can maximize the market demand and recover the cruise market after the COVID-19 outbreak. However, as the budget increases, subsidizing passengers can improve the "low price dilemma" of the Chinese cruise market. Compared with the access restriction period, the local government should adjust the subsidy level in the post-epidemic period. Interestingly, the subsidy policy does not always positively impact the international cruise line's profit in the post-epidemic period.

Nanoparticle vaccine delivery systems have been emerging strategies for inducing potent immune responses to prevent and treat infectious diseases and cancers. The properties of nanoparticle vaccine delivery systems, such as nanoparticle size, surface charge, and antigen release kinetics, have been extensively studied and proven to effectively influence the efficacy of vaccine responses. However, a few types of research have focused on the influence of administration routes of nanoparticle vaccines on immune responses. Herein, to investigate how the administration routes affect the immune responses of nanoparticles vaccines, we developed a nanoparticles system (NPs), in which the ovalbumin (OVA) and Angelica sinensis polysaccharide (ASP) were incorporated into poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanoparticles and the polyethylenimine (PEI) was coated on the surface of nanoparticles. The NPs vaccine was intramuscularly and subcutaneously injected (im and sc) into mice, and the immune responses induced by these two delivery routes were compared. The results showed that both im and sc administration of NPs vaccines elicited strong antigen-specific IgG, IgG1, and IgG2a antibody responses, with no significant difference. In contrast, NP vaccines with sc administration significantly enhanced immune responses, such as enhancing the recruitment and activation of dendritic cells (DCs) in lymph nodes (LNs), promoting the antigen transport into draining lymph nodes, increasing the secretion of cytokines, improving the ratio of CD4+T cells to CD8+ T cells, activating cytotoxic T lymphocyte response, and inducing a strong cellular immune response. These results may provide a new insight onto the development of vaccine delivery systems.

Ramulus mori polysaccharide (RMP), one of the most important active components of R. mori, has been attracting increasing interest because of its potent bioactive properties, including anti-inflammatory, antitumor, and antidiabetic effects. Despite the great therapeutic potential of RMP, its inherent properties of low bioavailability and brief biological half-life have limited its applications to the clinic. Thus, RMP was packaged by poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanoparticles to develop a novel anti-inflammatory nanomedicine (PLGA-RMP) in this study. The nanoparticles were synthesized via a double-emulsion solvent evaporation technique, and the average diameter of PLGA-RMP was about 202 nm. PLGA-RMP nanoparticles reduced the expression of inflammatory cytokines while promoting the production of IL-10, and boosted the phenotypic shift in macrophages in vitro. Furthermore, lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in mouse was used to examine the anti-inflammatory effect of PLGA-RMP in vivo. Oral administration of PLGA-RMP in LPS-induced IBD mice substantially mitigated the intestinal inflammation compared to treatment with LPS alone, as evidenced by attenuation of disease activity index scores and inflammatory damage in the intestine. Meanwhile, PLGA-RMP suppressed the expression and secretion of specific inflammatory cytokines including TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1ß, and PGE2 in the inflamed intestine while inhibiting the activation of CD3+CD8+ T-cells and increasing the number of activated Tregs in the intestine. These results indicated that PLGA-RMP deserves further consideration as a potential therapeutic nanomedicine to treat various inflammatory diseases, including IBD.

In recent years, customized bus (CB) is becoming an innovative model of the public transport system (PTS) in China. This service provides an advanced, timely, personalized, and flexible responses to the demand of the PTS, especially of commuters. Obviously, it could have an impact on public transport (PT) service. For instance, CB services influence the customers' variety-seeking behavior, which results in changes of customer options in different periods. Therefore, customers could be divided into different groups of preference. In this paper, we construct a two-period Hotelling game model by variety-seeking behavior and service level. The results show that, in the first stage, the departure frequency of CB and PT is influenced by variety-seeking behavior and service level. In the second stage, departure frequency is influenced by service level only. Next, although the departure frequency of bus impacts the changes of passenger ratios in different stages, service level appreciably impacts passenger number. From customer surplus and social welfare, we find that adjustment of service level can increase social welfare, which means that CB and PT will reach an optimum effect. The present work can provide a valuable reference to policymakers, practitioners, and others.

Nanoparticle-based vaccine delivery systems have been extensively used to promote and induce immune responses to protein antigens. The properties of the nanoparticles, such as size, surface charge, and antigen loading mode, have been proved to significantly influence the adjuvant effect and immunoreactivity of nanoparticle-based vaccine delivery systems. The purpose of the study was to investigate how the surface charge and antigen loading mode of nanoparticles impact the immune responses. In this study, three ovalbumin (OVA)-loaded poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanoparticles with different surface charges and antigen loading modes were developed. The three nanoparticles were designed as antigen encapsulated with negatively charged (Angelica sinensis polysaccharide (ASP)-PLGA/OVA), antigen encapsulated with polyethylenimine (PEI)-coated (ASP-PLGA/OVA-PEI), and antigen adsorbed on PEI-coated (ASP-PLGA-PEI-OVA) nanoparticles. The Angelica sinensis polysaccharide (ASP) was used as the immunopotentiator and encapsulated into three nanoparticles. The results demonstrated that both PEI-coated (positively charged) nanoparticles promoted the antigen escape from the endosome, which led to the cytoplasmic antigen delivery to generate cross presentation, compared to negatively charged nanoparticles. In addition, PEI-coated nanoparticles activated the DCs in lymph nodes 5 days after the primary vaccination. In vivo experiments demonstrated that both antigen-encapsulated nanoparticles induced more potent and long-term antigen-specific antibody responses, compared to that of antigen-adsorbed nanoparticles. Thus, the PEI-coated and antigen-encapsulated nanoparticles (ASP-PLGA/OVA-PEI) as a vaccine adjuvant delivery system have the potential to induce strong and long-term humoral and cellular immune responses.

BACKGROUND: Duck viral hepatitis (DVH) is an acute disease of young ducklings with no effective veterinary drugs for treatment. Gynostemma pentaphyllum is a well-known traditional Chinese medicine that plays an important role in the treatment of various diseases. Gypenoside (GP), one of the main ingredients of Gynostemma pentaphyllum, was reported with good hepatoprotective effects. However, its low solubility limits its application in the clinics. To improve its solubility and bioactivity, a phosphorylated derivative of gypenoside (pGP) was prepared by the sodium trimetaphosphate-sodium tripolyphosphate (STMP-STPP) method. An infrared spectroscopy method was applied to analyse the structures of GP and pGP. Then, a methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) colorimetric assay was applied to study the hepatocyte protective efficacy of these two drugs against duck hepatitis A virus type 1 (DHAV-1) infection, and qPCR, TUNEL labelling and flow cytometry methods were used to study the relevant hepatocyte protective in vitro. RESULTS: The infrared spectroscopy detection results showed that the phosphorylation modification of GP was successful. The MTT colorimetric assay results showed that both GP and pGP possessed good hepatocyte protective efficacy in vitro, and pGP performed better than GP when the drug was added before or after virus inoculation. Furthermore, the qPCR results revealed that both drugs could effectively inhibit the adsorption (when adding GP and pGP pre-virus inoculation), replication and release of DHAV-1, and the viral inhibition rate of pGP was greater than that of GP. The subsequent TUNEL labelling and flow cytometry assays showed that both GP and pGP could significantly inhibit duck embryo hepatocyte apoptosis induced by DHAV-1, and the inhibition effect of pGP was much stronger than that of GP. CONCLUSIONS: GP exerts good hepatocyte protective efficacy not only by inhibiting the proliferation of DHAV-1 but also by inhibiting duck embryonic hepatocyte apoptosis induced by DHAV-1, and phosphorylation modification significantly improves the antiviral and the anti-apoptotic effects of GP. Therefore, pGP has the potential to be developed into a novel drug against DHAV-1 infection.

We generalize chaos game representation (CGR) to higher dimensional spaces while maintaining its bijection, keeping such method sufficiently representative and mathematically rigorous compare to previous attempts. We first state and prove the asymptotic property of CGR and our generalized chaos game representation (GCGR) method. The prediction follows that the dissimilarity of sequences which possess identical subsequences but distinct positions would be lowered exponentially by the length of the identical subsequence; this effect was taking place unbeknownst to researchers. By shining a spotlight on it now, we show the effect fundamentally supports (G)CGR as a similarity measure or feature extraction technique. We develop two feature extraction techniques: GCGR-Centroid and GCGR-Variance. We use the GCGR-Centroid to analyze the similarity between protein sequences by using the datasets 9 ND5, 24 TF and 50 beta-globin proteins. We obtain consistent results compared with previous studies which proves the significance thereof. Finally, by utilizing support vector machines, we train the anticancer peptide prediction model by using both GCGR-Centroid and GCGR-Variance, and achieve a significantly higher prediction performance by employing the 3 well-studied anticancer peptide datasets.

BACKGROUND: Using knowledge-based interpretation to analyze omics data can not only obtain essential information regarding various biological processes, but also reflect the current physiological status of cells and tissue. The major challenge to analyze gene expression data, with a large number of genes and small samples, is to extract disease-related information from a massive amount of redundant data and noise. Gene selection, eliminating redundant and irrelevant genes, has been a key step to address this problem. RESULTS: The modified method was tested on four benchmark datasets with either two-class phenotypes or multiclass phenotypes, outperforming previous methods, with relatively higher accuracy, true positive rate, false positive rate and reduced runtime. CONCLUSIONS: This paper proposes an effective feature selection method, combining double RBF-kernels with weighted analysis, to extract feature genes from gene expression data, by exploring its nonlinear mapping ability.

CONTEXT: Duck virus hepatitis (DVH) caused by duck hepatitis A virus type 1 (DHAV-1) is an acute and lethal disease of young ducklings. However, there is still no effective drug to treat DVH. OBJECTIVE: This study assessed the curative effect on DVH of a flavonoid prescription baicalin-linarin-icariin-notoginsenoside R1 (BLIN) as well as the hepatoprotective and antioxidative effects of BLIN. MATERIALS AND METHODS: MTT method was used to test the anti-DHAV-1 ability of BLIN in vitro. We then treated ducklings by BLIN (3 mg per duckling, once a day for 5 days) to evaluate the in vivo efficacy. To study the hepatoprotective and antioxidative roles of BLIN in its curative effect on DVH, we investigated the hepatic injury evaluation biomarkers and the oxidative stress evaluation indices of the ducklings. RESULTS: On duck embryonic hepatocytes, DHAV-1 inhibitory rate of BLIN at 20 µg/mL was 69.3%. The survival rate of ducklings treated by BLIN was about 35.5%, which was significantly higher than that of virus control (0.0%). After the treatment of BLIN, both the hepatic injury and the oxidative stress of infected ducklings alleviated. At the same time, a significant positive correlation (p < 0.05) existed between the hepatic injury indices and the oxidative stress indices. CONCLUSIONS: BLIN showed a significant curative effect on DVH. The antioxidative and hepatoprotective effects of BLIN made great contributions to the treatment of DVH. Furthermore, BLIN is expected to be exploited as a new drug for the clinical treatment of DVH.

CONTEXT: The flavonoid prescription baicalin-linarin-icariin-notoginsenoside R1 (BLIN) has a curative effect on duck virus hepatitis (DVH) caused by duck hepatitis A virus type 1 (DHAV-1). However, the mechanism of this curative effect is not understood. OBJECTIVE: This study investigates the mechanism of the curative effect of BLIN on DVH caused by DHAV-1. We analyzed the anti-DHAV-1 reproduction mechanism and immuno-regulatory effect of BLIN. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The anti-DHAV-1 reproduction effects of BLIN at 20, 10, 5 and 2.5 µg/mL in vitro, as well as the influence of BLIN at 20 µg/mL on DHAV-1 adsorption, replication and release were tested using the qRT-PCR method. The promotion abilities of BLIN at 20, 10, 5 and 2.5 µg/mL on T- and B-lymphocyte proliferation were investigated by the MTT method. IL-2 and IFN-γ levels and total anti-DHAV-1 antibody secretion after treatment with DHAV-1 for 4, 8 and 54 h were determined by ELISA. RESULTS: BLIN showed a dose-dependent DHAV-1 reproduction inhibitory effect. The inhibitory effect was highest at 20 µg/mL, where DHAV-1 adsorption and release were significantly lower. Meanwhile, BLIN at 5 µg/mL significantly increased T and B lymphocyte proliferation. BLIN stimulated total anti-DHAV-1 antibody secretion in ducklings at the dosage of 4 mg per duckling, but did not stimulate IL-2 and IFN-γ secretion significantly. CONCLUSIONS: BLIN inhibits DHAV-1 reproduction by suppressing its adsorption and release. Additionally, BLIN promoted the duckling antiviral response.

RESUMO

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been used to treat diseases in China for thousands of years. TCM compositions are complex, using as their various sources plants, animals, fungi, and minerals. Polysaccharides are one of the active and important ingredients of TCMs. Polysaccharides from TCMs exhibit a wide range of biological activities in terms of immunity- modifying, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, and anti-tumor properties. With their widespread biological activities, polysaccharides consistently attract scientist's interests, and the studies often concentrate on the extraction, purification, and biological activity of TCM polysaccharides. Currently, numerous studies have shown that the modification of polysaccharides can heighten or change the biological activities, which is a new angle of polysaccharide research. This review highlights the current knowledge of TCM polysaccharides, including their extraction, purification, modification, and biological activity, which will hopefully provide profound insights facilitating further research and development.

BACKGROUND: Our previous research showed that icariin (1) and its phosphorylated structural modification (2) improved the survival and attenuated oxidative stress and liver dysfunction induced by duck virus hepatitis. In this paper, we were one step closer to determine the structure of phosphorylation icariin (2) by the FT-IR, HRESIMS and (13)C NMR. Anti-DHAV activities of 1 and 2 were compared in duck embryonic hepatocytes (DEHs) cultured in vitro and by artificial infection method in vivo. Additionally, the antiviral mechanisms of replication/release in vitro and the DHAV gene expression in vivo of 1 and 2 were analyzed. RESULTS: Compound 2's molecular formula was C33H42O18P. The results indicated that 1 and 2 effectively resisted DHAV invading DEHs, that they decreased the mortality of ducklings challenged with DHAV, and that 2 performed more effectively. 1 and 2 performed evenly on DHAV release; however, 2 restrained virus replication far more effectively. Since the anti-DHAV mechanisms of 1 and 2 in vitro probably involve suppression of replication and release, 2's better performance in anti-DHAV may result from its far more effectively inhibiting virus replication. CONCLUSIONS: The compound 2's chemical structure was defined as 8-prenylkaempferol-4'-methylether-3-rhamnosyl-7-(6'''-phosphate)-glycoside. 1 and 2 exhibited anti-virus activity on DHAV. Our results suggest that 1 and 2 might become an anti-virus plant material candidate.
