RESUMO

Chiral metal nanoclusters have recently been attracting great attention. It is challenging to realize asymmetric catalysis via atomically precise metal nanoclusters. Herein, we report the synthesis and total structure determination of chiral clusters [Au7Ag8(dppf)3(l-/d-proline)6](BF4)2 (l-/d-Au7Ag8). Superatomic clusters l-/d-Au7Ag8 display intense and mirror-image Cotton effects in their CD spectra. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were carried out to understand the correlation between electronic structures and the optical activity of the enantiomeric pair. Surprisingly, the incorporation of proline in a metal nanocluster can significantly promote the catalytic efficiency in asymmetric Aldol reactions. The increase of catalytic activity of Au7Ag8 in comparison with organocatalysis by proline is attributed to the cooperative effect of the metal core and prolines, showing the advantages of the integration of metal catalysis and organocatalysis in a metal nanocluster.

RESUMO

Surface organic ligands are critical in dictating the structures and properties of atomically precise metal nanoclusters. In contrast to the conventionally used thiolate, phosphine and alkynyl ligands, nitrogen donor ligands have not been used in the protection for well-defined metal nanoclusters until recently. This review focuses on recent developments in atomically precise metal nanoclusters stabilized by different types of nitrogen donor ligands, in which the synthesis, total structure determination and various properties are covered. We hope that this review will provide insights into the rational design of N donor-protected metal nanoclusters in terms of structural and functional modulation.

RESUMO

The first linear silver supercluster based on icosahedral Ag13 units has been constructed via bridging of dpa ligands: Ag61(dpa)27(SbF6)4 (Hdpa = dipyridylamine) (Ag61). Single-crystal X-ray diffraction reveals that this rod-shaped cluster consists of four vertex-sharing Ag13 icosahedra in a linear arrangement. This Ag61 cluster represents the longest one-dimensional metal nanocluster with a resolved structure. Unprecedented electron coupling develops between their constituent Ag13 units. Theoretical studies disclose that the stabilities of the two superclusters are dictated by a strong interaction between the Ag13 units as well as the ligand effect of the dpa-Ag motifs. The quantum size effect accounts for the significant enhancement of the metal-related absorptions and the red shift at the near-infrared region as the length of the cluster increases. This work sheds light on the evolution of one-dimensional materials and an understanding of the electronic communication between the constituent clusters.

RESUMO

Silver nanoclusters containing Ag0 atoms protected by amino acids were synthesized and characterized. Chiral superatomic silver nanoclusters [Ag47 L12 (C≡Ct Bu)16 ]BF4 (L=l-/d-valine or l-/d-isoleucine) have been prepared by reducing AgC≡Ct Bu and amino acids (AAs) with NaBH4 . Single crystal X-ray diffraction revealed that these clusters have T symmetry, and the Ag47 metal kernel can be viewed as a tetracapped truncated tetrahedron (Ag17 ) surrounded with six W-shaped Ag5 units. The clusters are homochiral as evidenced by CD measurements. As for the strong CD signals, large contributions are found from the occupied Ag s,p states (superatomic D states) near the Fermi level. Electron counting revealed that these clusters are 18-electron systems, suggesting they are superatomic clusters. The superatomic nature with a 1S2 1P6 1D10 configuration was supported by DFT calculations. This work paves the way of taking AAs as facile chiral induction agents for the synthesis of metal nanoclusters.

RESUMO

We report the synthesis and crystal structure determination of two novel chiral gold nanoclusters. By utilizing BINAP, we isolate atomically precise intrinsically chiral Au nanoclusters [Au9( R-/ S-BINAP)4](CF3COO)3 and [Au10( R-/ S-BINAP)4( p-CF3C6H4C≡C)](CF3COO)3 in high yield with one-pot synthesis. Au9 has C2 geometry, while Au10 is C1 symmetric. Interestingly, reversible interconversion between Au9 and Au10 can be realized by the addition or removal of a RC≡CAu component. The transformation from Au9 to Au10 leads to significant enhancement of CD signals. The maximum anisotropy factor in the visible region of [Au10(BINAP)4( p-CF3C6H4C≡C)]3+ is the hitherto largest (up to 6.6 × 10-3) among gold nanoclusters, which is approximately twice of that of [Au9(BINAP)4]3+. This work demonstrates that the chiroptical activity of gold nanoclusters can be modulated by structural control through the introduction of second ligands.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Recently, some studies have suggested a link between AQP1 and cancer progression. AIMS: The aim of the present study was to investigate the influence of AQP1 on the clinicopathology and prognosis of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) patients. METHODS: We retrospectively detected the expression of AQP1 protein in 307 patients with ICC who underwent partial hepatectomy. Western blot analysis was used to detect AQP1 protein levels in stable AQP1 overexpression and knockdown cell lines. The influence of AQP1 on the invasion and metastasis ability of ICC cells was assessed by wound-healing and Transwell assays in vitro as well as by a splenic liver metastasis model in vivo. RESULTS: Positive membranous AQP1 expression was identified in 34.2% (105/307) of the ICC specimens. Survival data revealed that positive AQP1 expression was significantly associated with favourable disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) (p = 0.0290 and p = 0003, respectively). Moreover, high AQP1 expression inhibited the invasion and migration of ICC cells in vitro as well as inhibited liver metastasis in nude mice. Mechanistically, high AQP1 expression in ICC cells increased the levels of E-cadherin but decreased the levels of the Snail transcription factor. CONCLUSIONS: AQP1 expression is associated with a favourable prognosis in ICC patients. AQP1 inhibits ICC cell invasion, metastasis, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) through downregulation of Snail expression.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The available evidence on selenium supplementation in the treatment of autoimmune thyroiditis (AIT) was inconclusive. This research serves to assess the effects of selenium supplementation in the treatment of AIT. METHODS: Online databases including PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and the Cochrane Library were searched from inception to 10 June 2022. The AMSTAR-2 tool was used to assess the methodological quality of included studies. The information on the randomized controlled trials of the included studies was extracted and synthesized. The GRADE system was used to assess the certainty of evidence. RESULTS: A total of 6 systematic reviews with 75 RCTs were included. Only one study was rated as high quality. The meta-analysis showed that in the levothyroxine (LT4)-treated population, thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPO-Ab) levels decreased significantly in the selenium group at 3 months (SMD = -0.53, 95% CI: [-0.89, -0.17], p < 0.05, very low certainty) and 6 months (SMD = -1.95, 95% CI: [-3.17, -0.74], p < 0.05, very low certainty) and that thyroglobulin antibody (Tg-Ab) levels were not decreased. In the non-LT4-treated population, TPO-Ab levels decreased significantly in the selenium group at 3 and 6 months and did not decrease at 12 months. Tg-Ab levels decreased significantly in the selenium group at 3 and 6 months and did not decrease at 12 months. The adverse effects reported in the selenium group were not significantly different from those in the control group, and the certainty of evidence was low. CONCLUSION: Although selenium supplementation might reduce TPO-Ab levels at 3 and 6 months and Tg-Ab levels at 3 and 6 months in the non-LT4-treated population, this was based on a low certainty of evidence.

RESUMO

Comparative genomic studies have identified several Mycobacterium tuberculosis-specific genomic regions of difference (RDs) which are absent in the vaccine strains of Mycobacterium bovis BCG and which may be useful in the specific diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB). In this study, all encoded proteins from DNA segment RD5 of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, that is, Rv3117-Rv3121, were recombined and evaluated by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays for antibody reactivity with sera from HIV-negative pulmonary TB patients (n = 60) and healthy controls (n = 32). The results identified two immunodominant antigens, that is, Rv3117 and Rv3120, both of which revealed a statistically significant antigenic distinction between healthy controls and TB patients (P < 0.05). In comparison with the well-known early-secreted antigen target 6 kDa (ESAT-6) (sensitivity 21.7%, specificity 90.6%), the higher detection sensitivity and higher specificity were achieved (Rv3117: sensitivity 25%, specificity 96.9%; Rv3120: sensitivity 31.7%, specificity 96.9%). Thus, the results highlight the immunosensitive and immunospecific nature of Rv3117 and Rv3120 and indicate promise for their use in the serodiagnosis of TB.

RESUMO

To avoid the delamination of the traditional three-dimensional (3-D) honeycomb electromagnetic (EM) absorbing composites and improving the defects of low mechanical properties, the 3-D honeycomb woven fabrics were woven on the ordinary loom by practical design. The fabrication of 3-D honeycomb woven EM absorbing composites was based on carbon black/carbonyl iron powder/basalt fiber/carbon fiber/epoxy resin (CB/CIP/BF/CF/EP) by the vacuum-assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM) process. A CB/CIP composite absorbent study showed that CB/CIP composite absorbent belongs to a magnetic loss type absorbent. Adding CB/CIP significantly improved the absorption performance of composite, increased the absorption peak and the effective absorption bandwidth (EAB), but the bending performance decreased. The normalization analysis results showed that when the thickness was 15 mm, the mechanical properties and EM wave-absorbing properties of the 3-D honeycomb woven composite were the best matches. The morphological characteristics and displacement load curves of the composite after fracture were analyzed. The bending failure modes were brittle fracture of the fiber bundle, matrix cracking, and typical shear failure. Despite the above failure mechanism, the 3-D honeycomb woven EM absorbing composites still has good integrity without delamination.

RESUMO

Surface organic ligands are critical in determining the formation and properties of atomically precise metal nanoclusters. In contrast to the conventionally used thiolate, phosphine and alkynyl ligands, the amine ligand dipyridylamine is applied here as a protecting agent in the synthesis of atomically precise metal nanoclusters. We report two homoleptic amido-protected Ag nanoclusters as examples of all-nitrogen-donor-protected metal nanoclusters: [Ag21(dpa)12]SbF6 (Ag21) and [Ag22(dpa)12](SbF6)2 (Ag22) (dpa = dipyridylamido). Single crystal X-ray structural analysis reveals that both clusters consist of a centered-icosahedron Ag13 core wrapped by 12 dpa ligands. The flexible arrangement of the N donors in dpa facilitates the solvent-triggered reversible interconversion between Ag21 and Ag22 due to their very different solubility. The successful use of dpa in the synthesis of well-defined silver nanoclusters may motivate more studies on metal nanoclusters protected by amido type ligands.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To design ABC damage variable and positioning system for acetabular fracture and explore the feasibility and clinical practical value of the system through the multi-center analysis of 1122 acetabular fractures. METHODS: According to acetabular three-column conception, and pelvic ring lesions damage direction caused by acetabular fracture domino effect and injury degree of proximal femur joint, it defined class A as any column acetabular fracture; class B as any two-column acetabular fracture; class C as front, dome and posterior mixture acetabular fracture. Lower case English letters a, m, p represented front, dome, posterior fracture, respectively. Acetabular damage variables: 1 was simple displaced fractures; 2 was comminuted fractures; 3 was compression fractures. Pelvic ring lesions damage variables: alpha was sacroiliac joints or sacroiliac fracture horizontal separation deflection; beta was sacroiliac joints or sacroiliac fracture vertical separation deflection; gamma was pubic symphysis separation/superior and inferior ramus of pubis fracture deflection; alpha beta gamma delta was compound floating damage. Proximal humerus joint damage variables: I was femoral head fracture; II was femoral neck fracture; II was intertrochanteric fractures of femur; IV was I to III compound fracture. The ABC damage variable positioning system for acetabular fracture was made up by the above-mentioned variables. The statistics from March 1997 to February 2010 showed 1122 cases acetabular fractures with 18 cases of double side acetabular fracture and 1140 cases of acetabular fractures. The pelvics anterior-posterior view, ilium and obturator oblique view, and 2/3D-CT materials were analyzed and researched. RESULTS: Each damage variables distribution situation in 1140 cases of acetabular fracture involved A in 237 cases (20.8%), B in 605 cases (53.1%), C in 298 cases (26.1%);front column fracture in 808 cases(70.9%), dome fracture in 507 cases (44.5%), posterior fracture in 1026 cases (90%). Acetabular variables: variabe 1 in 203 cases of simple displaced fracture (17.8%); variabe 2 in 516 cases of comminuted fracture(45.3%); variabe 3 in 421 cases of compression fracture (36.9%); 249 cases of pelvic ring lesions damage (21.8%), 75 cases femoral head fracture (6.6%); 18 cases of double side acetabular fracture and relative pelvic ring and proximal humerus joint variables (1.58%). Key part and curative effect elements of 1140 cases acetabular fracture: 507 cases of dome or posterior acetabular fracture (44.5%); 421 cases of compression fracture (36.9%); 249 cases of pelvic ring variables (21.8%); 75 cases of proximal humerus joint variables (6.6%); 486 cases of simple Aa/pl/2,Bapl/2 acetabular fracture (42.6% ). CONCLUSION: Compression fracture, especially defected compression fracture, takes important part in acetabular damage variables, and also presents that acetabular fracture with pelvic ring and proximal femoral damage variables are not rare at all. The relationship of the acetabular fracture damage variables, and its percentage shows the key points and elements in clinical treatment: weight-bearing to dome accounts for 44.5%; compression to defects account for 36.9%, pelvic ring to float accounts for 21.8%; dome fracture to double side fracture account for 6.6%. The system has significant guiding effects on clinic in terms of evaluation of injury severity, anatomic localization, difficulty index, alternative strategy, operative approach, effect of treatment, and prognosis. And the most important thing is that the system creates the comparison of damage variables in same type of fracture and the communication of homo-language and explores a new method.
