RESUMO

From the view of geometry, chirality is that an object cannot overlap with its mirror image, which has been a fundamental scientific problem in biology and chemistry since the 19th century. Chiral inorganic nanomaterials serve as ideal templates for investigating chiral transfer and amplification mechanisms between molecule and bulk materials, garnering widespread attentions. The chiroptical property of chiral plasmonic nanomaterials is enhanced through localized surface plasmon resonance effects, which exhibits distinctive circular dichroism (CD) response across a wide wavelength range. Recently, 3D chiral plasmonic nanomaterials are becoming a focal research point due to their unique characteristics and planar-independence. This review provides an overview of recent progresses in 3D chiral plasmonic nanomaterials studies. It begins by discussing the mechanisms of plasmonic enhancement of molecular CD response, following by a detailed presentation of novel classifications of 3D chiral plasmonic nanomaterials. Finally, the applications of 3D chiral nanomaterials such as biology, sensing, chiral catalysis, photology, and other fields have been discussed and prospected. It is hoped that this review will contribute to the flourishing development of 3D chiral nanomaterials.

RESUMO

Bi2O2Se, a newly emerging two-dimensional (2D) material, has attracted significant attention as a promising candidate for optoelectronics applications due to its exceptional air stability and high mobility. Generally, mica and SrTiO3substrates with lattice matching are commonly used for the growth of high-quality 2D Bi2O2Se. Although 2D Bi2O2Se grown on these insulating substrates can be transferred onto Si substrate to ensure compatibility with silicon-based semiconductor processes, this inevitably introduces defects and surface states that significantly compromise the performance of optoelectronic devices. Herein we employ Bi2Se3as the evaporation source and oxygen reaction to directly grow Bi2O2Se nanosheets on Si substrate through a conventional chemical vapor deposition method. The photodetector based on the Bi2O2Se nanosheets on Si substrate demonstrates outstanding optoelectronics performance with a responsivity of 379 A W-1, detectivity of 2.9 × 1010Jones, and rapid response time of 0.28 ms, respectively, with 532 nm illumination. Moreover, it also exhibits a broadband photodetection capability across the visible to near-infrared range (532-1300 nm). These results suggest that the promising potential of Bi2O2Se nanosheets for high-performance and broadband photodetector applications.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Pectus excavatum, the most common chest wall deformity, is frequently treated with Nuss procedure. Here we will describe non-invasive procedure and analyze the variables associated vacuum bell therapy for patients with pectus excavatum. METHODS: Retrospective case-control study in a single center between July 2018 and February 2022, including patients with pectus excavatum treated with vacuum bell. Follow-up was continued to September 2022. The Haller index and Correction index was calculated before and after treatment to analysis the effectiveness of vacuum bell therapy. RESULTS: There were 98 patients enrolled in the treatment group, with 72 available for analysis, and the follow-up period ranged from 1.1 to 4.4 years (mean 3.3 years). When analyzing with the Haller Index, 18 patients (25.0%) showed excellent correction, 13 patients (18.1%) achieved good correction, and 4 patients (5.6%) had fair correction. The remaining patients had a poor outcome. Characteristics predicting a non-poor prognosis included initial age ≤ 11 years (OR = 3.94, p = 0.013) and patients with use over 24 consecutive months (OR = 3.95, p = 0.013). A total of 9 patients (12.5%) achieved a CI reduction below 10. Patients who started vacuum bell therapy at age > 11 had significantly less change compared to those who started at age ≤ 11 (P < 0.05). Complications included chest pain (5.6%), swollen skin (6.9%), chest tightness (1.4%) and erythema (15.3%). CONCLUSIONS: A certain percentage of patients with pectus excavatum can achieve excellent correction when treated with pectus excavatum therapy. Variables predicting better outcome including initial age ≤ 11 years both in HI and CI and vacuum bell use over 24 consecutive months in HI. In summary, pectus excavatum is an emerging non-invasive therapy for pectus excavatum and will be widely performed in a certain group of patients.

RESUMO

Clinical treatment of osteosarcoma encounters great challenges of postsurgical tumor recurrence and extensive bone defect. To develop an advanced artificial bone substitute that can achieve synergistic bone regeneration and tumor therapy for osteosarcoma treatment, a multifunctional calcium phosphate composite enabled by incorporation of bioactive FePSe3 -nanosheets within the cryogenic-3D-printed α-tricalcium phosphate scaffold (TCP-FePSe3 ) is explored. The TCP-FePSe3 scaffold exhibits remarkable tumor ablation ability due to the excellent NIR-II (1064 nm) photothermal property of FePSe3 -nanosheets. Moreover, the biodegradable TCP-FePSe3 scaffold can release selenium element to suppress tumor recurrence by activating of the caspase-dependent apoptosis pathway. In a subcutaneous tumor model, it is demonstrated that tumors can be efficiently eradicated via the combination treatment with local photothermal ablation and the antitumor effect of selenium element. Meanwhile, in a rat calvarial bone defect model, the superior angiogenesis and osteogenesis induced by TCP-FePSe3 scaffold have been observed in vivo. The TCP-FePSe3 scaffold possesses improved capability to promote the repair of bone defects via vascularized bone regeneration, which is induced by the bioactive ions of Fe, Ca, and P released during the biodegradation of the implanted scaffolds. The TCP-FePSe3 composite scaffolds fabricated by cryogenic-3D-printing illustrate a distinctive strategy to construct multifunctional platform for osteosarcoma treatment.

RESUMO

Realization of nonreciprocal transport is of great importance in the development of devices and systems that require the directional manipulation of signals or particles in information processing and modern physics. For ultracold atomic systems, the approaches based on synthetic dimensions have led to rapid advances in engineering quantum transport. Here, we use laser-coupled discrete momentum states of noninteracting ultracold atoms to synthesize a momentum lattice, and construct a closed ring with controllable tunneling phase in the momentum lattice. We measure the density evolution of atoms in the synthetic lattice with the single-site resolution, and observe the nonreciprocal dynamics by controlling the tunneling phase. We show the effect of both the applied phase and the coupling strength between two distinct population regions on the population distribution of atoms in the momentum lattice, and provide the optimal parameters for achieving the nonreciprocal transport.

RESUMO

Surfactant-like short peptides are a kind of ideal model for the study of chiral self-assembly. At present, there are few studies on the chiral self-assembly of multicharged surfactant-like peptides. In this study, we adopted a series of short peptides of Ac-I4KGK-NH2 with different combinations of L-lysine and D-lysine residues as the model molecules. TEM, AFM and SANS results showed that Ac-I4LKGLK-NH2, Ac-I4LKGDK-NH2, and Ac-I4DKGLK-NH2 formed the morphologies of nanofibers, and Ac-I4DKGDK-NH2 formed nanoribbons. All the self-assembled nanofibers, including the intermediate nanofibers of Ac-I4DKGDK-NH2 nanoribbons, showed the chirality of left handedness. Based on the molecular simulation results, it has been demonstrated that the supramolecular chirality was directly dictated by the orientation of single ß strand. The insertion of glycine residue demolished the effect of lysine residues on the single strand conformation due to its high conformational flexibility. The replacement of L-isoleucine with Da-isoleucine also confirmed that the isoleucine residues involved in the ß-sheet determined the supramolecular handedness. This study provides a profound mechanism of the chiral self-assembly of short peptides. We hope that it will improve the regulation of chiral molecular self-assembly with achiral glycine, as well.

RESUMO

Ground-glass opacity (GGO)-associated pulmonary nodules have been known as a radiologic feature of early-stage lung cancers and exhibit an indolent biological behavior. However, the correlation between driver genes and radiologic features as well as the immune microenvironment remains poorly understood. We performed a custom 1021-gene panel sequencing of 334 resected pulmonary nodules presenting as GGO from 262 Chinese patients. A total of 130 multiple pulmonary nodules were sampled from 58 patients. Clinical-pathologic and radiologic parameters of these pulmonary nodules were collected. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and multiplex immunofluorescent staining (mIF) were applied to analyze proliferation and immune cell markers of GGO-associated pulmonary nodules. Compared with pure GGO nodules, mixed GGO nodules were enriched for invasive adenocarcinoma (IAC) (182/216 vs 73/118, P < .001). Eighty-eight percent (294/334) of GGO-associated nodules carried at least one mutation in EGFR/ERBB2/BRAF/KRAS/MAP2K1 of the RTK/RAS signaling pathway, and the alterations in these driver genes were mutually exclusive. The analysis of multifocal pulmonary nodules from the same patient revealed evidence of functional convergence on RTK/RAS pathways. Nodules with ERBB2/BRAF/MAP2K1 mutations tended to be more indolent than those with EGFR and KRAS mutations. IHC and mIF staining showed that KRAS-mutant GGO nodules displayed higher infiltration of CD4+ T cell and CD8+ T cell as well as stronger proliferation and immune inhibitory signals. Our study demonstrates a driver landscape of radiologically detectable GGO-associated pulmonary nodules in Chinese patients and supports that different driver patterns in RTK/RAS pathway are corresponding to different radiologic features.

RESUMO

A mobility edge, a critical energy separating localized and extended excitations, is a key concept for understanding quantum localization. The Aubry-André (AA) model, a paradigm for exploring quantum localization, does not naturally allow mobility edges due to self-duality. Using the momentum-state lattice of quantum gas of Cs atoms to synthesize a nonlinear AA model, we provide experimental evidence for a mobility edge induced by interactions. By identifying the extended-to-localized transition of different energy eigenstates, we construct a mobility-edge phase diagram. The location of a mobility edge in the low- or high-energy region is tunable via repulsive or attractive interactions. Our observation is in good agreement with the theory and supports an interpretation of such interaction-induced mobility edge via a generalized AA model. Our Letter also offers new possibilities to engineer quantum transport and phase transitions in disordered systems.

RESUMO

Photocatalytic degradation technology is one of the effective protocols to solve environmental problems. TiO2 has always been favored for its photostability and low cost. However, the insufficient photocatalytic activity of TiO2 limits its application due to the severe recombination of photogenerated electrons and holes and a narrow light response range. Therefore, 3DTCN, a TiO2/g-C3N4 composite with a three-dimensional ordered macroporous structure was prepared by a colloidal crystal template technique to form a heterojunction for inhibiting the photogenerated electron-hole recombination. On 3DTCN, carbon quantum dots (CQDs) were loaded by impregnation to obtain x % CQDs/3DTCN with a broad spectral response to light. The physical and chemical properties of samples were investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution-TEM, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller analysis, photoluminescence spectroscopy, and ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activity was evaluated via degrading the rhodamine B (RhB) dye, and the degradation efficiency of 1% CQDs/3DTCN (98%) was found to be much higher than that of 3DTCN (42%) in 80 min under simulated sunlight irradiation. Furthermore, it also possessed excellent durability. Meanwhile, the sample also showed an outstanding photoelectric property. Finally, the proposed mechanism of the composites had been mainly analyzed by density functional theory calculations. This work thus provides an idea to form a 3D structure heterojunction and further improve the photocatalytic activity.

RESUMO

We report the high-resolution photoassociation (PA) spectroscopy of 23Na excited from the spin-1 Bose-Einstein Condensate (BEC) to the molecular state of 0g-(P3/2)v = 4 and 1g(P3/2)v = 91. By comparing the PA spectra of different spin configurations, we experimentally studied the effect of spin on the PA spectra. The experimental spectra comply well with the theoretical consideration. The results will play an important role in the study of the spin interaction and control of the antiferromagnetism in Na.

RESUMO

Sinomenine is a bioactive alkaloid isolated from the Chinese medicinal plant Sinomenium acutum (Thunb.) Rehd. et Wils which exhibits significant analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and immunosuppressive effects. Sinomenine hydrochloride (SH) preparations, classified as natural disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs, are currently available for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and other rheumatic diseases. Our toxicity evaluation demonstrated that the median lethal dose of SH in female Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats was over 11 times greater than that in male SD rats, revealing striking sex-linked differences in the safety profile of SH. The present study was designed to investigate differences in the pharmacokinetics (PKs) and tissue distribution of SH between male and female SD rats after a single oral dose of 25 mg/kg. PK and tissue distribution studies were performed using a validated UPLC-MS/MS method. The results showed that SH-treated SD female rats displayed markedly greater drug exposure, and SH exhibited a longer half-life and slower clearance rate than comparable studies in male rats. Moreover, the tissue distribution study confirmed that the sinomenine concentration in female rats was considerably greater in the internal organs than in male rats. Our study demonstrates, for the first time, significant sex-related differences in the safety profile and PKs of SH, which may be associated with a distinct sex-dependent metabolic mechanism of sinomenine.

RESUMO

A series of exohedral actinide borospherenes, An&Bm, and endohedral borospherenes, An@Bn (An=U, Np, Pu; m = 28, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40; n = 36, 38, 40), have been characterized by density functional theory calculations. The electronic structures, chemical bond topological properties and spectra have been systematically investigated. It was found that An@Bn is more stable than An&Bn in terms of structure and energy, and UB36 in an aqueous solution is the most stable molecular in this research. The IR and UV-vis spectra of An&Bm and An@Bn are computationally predicted to facilitate further experimental investigations. Charge-transfer spectroscopy decomposes the total UV-Vis absorption curve into the contributions of different excitation features, allowing insight into what form of electronic excitation the UV-Vis absorption peak is from the perspective of charge transfer between the An atoms and borospherenes.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To characterize the silver in chitosan antibacterial gel, and to establish a method for the determination of silver content in samples. METHODS: The silver in the samples was analysed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and single particle inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (SP-ICP-MS). Microwave digestion was adopted to digest the chitosan antibacterial gel, and then the content of silver was determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. RESULTS: The analysises showed that the particle size of silver in chitosan antibacterial gel was about 150~ 200 nm. The silver showed good linearity in the concentration range of 25~250 µg/L (y=0.000 35x+0.001 7, r=0.999 9). The recovery rate (n=9) was 98.5%. CONCLUSIONS: SEM, EDS and SP-ICP-MS can be used for the characterization of silver particles in chitosan antibacterial gel. Microwave digestion-flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry method is simple, practicable, high precision and high quantitative accuracy, which is suitable for the quantitative analysis of silver in chitosan antibacterial gel.

RESUMO

Lung volume reduction loop uses bronchoscopic lung volume reduction(BLVR) technology to compress and collapse the necrotic emphysema tissue and exhaust the internal gas to achieve the purpose of lung volume reduction to treat emphysema. After the lung volume reduction loop is implanted into the human body, the compressed part of the lung tissue tends to expand with breathing, which makes the lung volume reduction loop expand into a linear trend periodically. Fatigue resistance is one of the most important performance indexes of the lung volume reduction loop. In the paper, Z-direction vibration fatigue machine was used to simulate the changes of human respiratory cycle movement to test the fatigue performance of lung volume reduction loop, which can provide some reference for the test method of in vitro fatigue performance of lung volume reduction related products in the future.

RESUMO

The Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) of 133Cs atoms offers an appealing platform for studying the many-body physics of interacting Bose quantum gases, owing to the rich Feshbach resonances that can be readily achieved in the low magnetic field region. However, it is notoriously difficult to cool 133Cs atoms to their quantum degeneracy. Here we report a hybrid evaporative cooling of 133Cs atoms to BEC. Our approach relies on a combination of the magnetically tunable evaporation with the optical evaporation of atoms in a magnetically levitated optical dipole trap overlapping with a dimple trap. The magnetic field gradient is reduced for the magnetically tunable evaporation. The subsequent optical evaporation is performed by lowering the depth of the dimple trap. We study the dependence of the peak phase space density (PSD) and temperature on the number of atoms during the evaporation process, as well as how the PSD and atom number vary with the trap depth. The results are in excellent agreement with the equation model for evaporative cooling.

RESUMO

Herein, we report on the experimental observations and a quantitative determination of the laser-induced frequency shift (LIFS) in the photoassociation (PA) spectra of spinor Bose-Einstein condensate of sodium. Our investigations revealed a nonlinear dependence of the LIFS on the intensity of PA laser. By developing a model within the quadratic Stark effect, we simulate the experimental results via a theoretical model that confirms the former. The experimental observations and the theoretical analysis can further improve the accuracy of investigations on important molecular properties and on preparation of specific molecular states, with possible applications in various key fields.

RESUMO

We study the effects of magnetic Feshbach resonance on the shifts in photoassociation (PA) spectra of ultracold Cs atoms. A series of atom loss spectra show a linear variation of the frequency shift with the PA laser intensity at different magnetic fields near the d-wave Feshbach resonance of optically trapped Cs atoms. The magnetic field-dependence of the slope of the shift on the PA laser intensity exhibits a dispersive change near the Feshbach resonance. The theoretical formula derived from a model based on Fano resonance fits well with the experimental data. Using a model rectangular potential with tunable well depth and applying the Franck-Condon principle, we obtain numerical results, which are found to be largely in disagreement with the experimental findings.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: We characterized the clinical features, radiographic characteristics, and response to treatment of immunocompetent and immunocompromised patients with pulmonary cryptococcosis (PC). METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records and radiological profiles of patients diagnosed with PC who received surgical resection between May 2015 and November 2020 in a tertiary referral center. RESULTS: A total of 21 males and 18 females were included in the study. 23 patients were immunocompetent and 20 out of the 39 were asymptomatic. Immunocompetent patients were diagnosed with PC at a younger age than immunocompromised patients (48.9 vs 57.1 years, P = 0.02). Single nodule pattern was the most frequent lesion pattern (33 out of 39, 84.6%) and right upper lobe was the most common site of location (15 out of 47, 31.9%). The majority of lesions were located peripherally (38 out of 47, 80.9%) and most lesions were 1-2 cm in diameter (30 out of 47, 63.8%). Cavitation was more likely to occur in immunocompromised patients (5 out of 11, 45.5%) than in immunocompetent patients (6 out of 36, 16.7%) (P = 0.04) and there was complete resolution of PC in all patients treated with anti-fungal therapy. CONCLUSIONS: Immunocompetent patients were diagnosed with PC at a younger age than immunocompromised patients. Single nodule pattern was the most frequent lesion pattern in PC patients. Cavitation was more likely to occur in immunocompromised patients than in immunocompetent patients.

RESUMO

We report new observations of the hyperfine structure in three ro-vibrational levels of the b3Π2 state of NaCs near the dissociation limit 3S1/2 + 6P3/2. The experiment was done via photoassociation of ultracold atoms in a dual-species dark-spot magneto-optical trap, and the spectra were measured as atomic trap losses. The simulation of the hyperfine structure showed that the greater part of the observed structure belongs to almost isolated levels of the b3Π2 state, but there are other parts of mixed character where the contribution from the 1Σ symmetry dominates.

RESUMO

This article demonstrates new observation of the high-resolution ro-vibrational bichromatic photoassociation spectra (BPAS) of Cs2 in the 0u+ long-range state below the asymptotes 6S1/2 + 6P1/2. By combining with a modulation spectroscopic technique, precise references of the frequency differences have been engineered through the BPAS, with which the rotational constants of low-lying vibrational levels of the Cs20u+ long-range state have been accurately determined by fitting the frequency differences to the non-rigid-rotor model. The rotational constants for the newly observed seven ro-vibrational levels are summarized and disagreement for the level ῦ = 498 is clarified. The rotational constants of different vibrational levels demonstrate strong perturbations of the related energy structures. A simple analysis is performed and shows good agreement with experimental results.
