RESUMO

The recognition of human activity is crucial as the Internet of Things (IoT) progresses toward future smart homes. Wi-Fi-based motion-recognition stands out due to its non-contact nature and widespread applicability. However, the channel state information (CSI) related to human movement in indoor environments changes with the direction of movement, which poses challenges for existing Wi-Fi movement-recognition methods. These challenges include limited directions of movement that can be detected, short detection distances, and inaccurate feature extraction, all of which significantly constrain the wide-scale application of Wi-Fi action-recognition. To address this issue, we propose a direction-independent CSI fusion and sharing model named CSI-F, one which combines Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and Gated Recurrent Units (GRU). Specifically, we have introduced a series of signal-processing techniques that utilize antenna diversity to eliminate random phase shifts, thereby removing noise influences unrelated to motion information. Later, by amplifying the Doppler frequency shift effect through cyclic actions and generating a spectrogram, we further enhance the impact of actions on CSI. To demonstrate the effectiveness of this method, we conducted experiments on datasets collected in natural environments. We confirmed that the superposition of periodic actions on CSI can improve the accuracy of the process. CSI-F can achieve higher recognition accuracy compared with other methods and a monitoring coverage of up to 6 m.

Citrus (Citrus reticulata) is one of the world's most widely planted and highest-yielding fruit trees. Citrus fruits are rich in a variety of nutrients. The content of citric acid plays a decisive role in the flavor quality of the fruit. There is a high organic acid content in early-maturing and extra-precocious citrus varieties. Reducing the amount of organic acid after fruit ripening is significant to the citrus industry. In this study, we selected a low-acid variety, "DF4", and a high-acid variety, "WZ", as research materials. Through WGCNA analysis, two differentially expressed genes, citrate synthase (CS) and ATP citrate-pro-S-lyase (ACL), were screened out, which related to the changing citric acid. The two differentially expressed genes were preliminarily verified by constructing a virus-induced gene-silencing (VIGS) vector. The VIGS results showed that the citric acid content was negatively correlated with CS expression and positively correlated with ACL expression, while CS and ACL oppositely control citric acid and inversely regulate each other. These results provide a theoretical basis for promoting the breeding of early-maturing and low-acid citrus varieties.

BACKGROUND: Fatty acid composition and content affect rapeseed oil quality. Fatty acid synthesis-related genes in rapeseed have been studied globally by researchers. Nevertheless, rapeseed oil is mainly composed of seven different fatty acids (FA), and each fatty acid was regulated by different genes. Furthermore, different FA affect each other, which needs continuous and in-depth research to obtain more clear results in Brassica napus. RESULTS: In this paper, broad-scale miRNA expression profiles were constructed and 21 differentially expressed miRNAs were detected. GO enrichment analysis showed that most up-regulated proteins were involved in transcription factor activity and catalytic activity. KEGG pathway enrichment analysis indicated that 20 pathways involving 36 target genes were enriched, of which the bna00592 pathway may be involved in fatty acid metabolism. The results were verified using a quantitative real-time PCR (RT-qPCR) analysis, we found that the target gene of bna-miR156b > c > g was the OPR (12-oxo-phytodienoic acid reductase). Four copies of OPR gene were found, and the over-expression vectors (pCAMBIA1300-35 s-OPR and pCAMBIA1300-RNAi-OPR) were constructed to verify their functions. In T1 and T2 generation, the content of linoleic acid (LA) increased significantly in OE but deceased in OPRi. CONCLUSIONS: This is the first study to provide four copies of the OPR gene that regulates LA metabolism, can be used for the molecular mechanism of LA and optimizing fatty acid profiles in oilseed for breeding programs.

Motion recognition has a wide range of applications at present. Recently, motion recognition by analyzing the channel state information (CSI) in Wi-Fi packets has been favored by more and more scholars. Because CSI collected in the wireless signal environment of human activity usually carries a large amount of human-related information, the motion-recognition model trained for a specific person usually does not work well in predicting another person's motion. To deal with the difference, we propose a personnel-independent action-recognition model called WiPg, which is built by convolutional neural network (CNN) and generative adversarial network (GAN). According to CSI data of 14 yoga movements of 10 experimenters with different body types, model training and testing were carried out, and the recognition results, independent of bod type, were obtained. The experimental results show that the average correct rate of WiPg can reach 92.7% for recognition of the 14 yoga poses, and WiPg realizes "cross-personnel" movement recognition with excellent recognition performance.

Depressive disorder (DD) is associated with N6-methyladenosine (m6A) hypermethylation. This study sought to explore the molecular mechanism of Methyltransferase-like 3 (METTL3) in cognitive deficits of chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS)-treated rats and provide novel targets for DD treatment. A DD rat model was established via CUMS treatment. Cognitive deficits were assessed via body weighing and behavioral tests. METTL3, microRNA (miR)-221-3p, pri-miR-221, GRB2-associated binding protein 1 (Gab1) expressions in hippocampal tissues were detected via RT-qPCR and Western blotting. m6A, DiGeorge syndrome critical region gene 8 (DGCR8)-bound pri-miR-221 and pri-miR-221 m6A levels were measured. The binding relationship between miR-221-3p and Gab1 was testified by dual-luciferase and RNA pull-down assays. Rescue experiments were designed to confirm the role of miR-221-3p and Gab1. METTL3 was highly expressed in CUMS rats, and silencing METTL3 attenuated cognitive deficits of CUMS rats. METTL3-mediated m6A modification facilitated processing and maturation of pri-miR-221 via DGCR8 to upregulate miR-221-3p. miR-221-3p targeted Gab1. miR-221-3p overexpression or Gab1 downregulation reversed the role of silencing METTL3 in CUMS rats. Overall, METTL3-mediated m6A modification facilitated processing and maturation of pri-miR-221 to upregulate miR-221-3p and then inhibit Gab1, thereby aggravating cognitive deficits of CUMS rats.

Owing to its high nutritive, economic, and medicinal values, Akebia trifoliata has received increased attention, making worthy of being used as a new fruit crop for further domestication and commercialization in China. However, molecular research of A. trifoliata has lagged as investigations of its genomic resources and molecular markers are rare. In this study, a cDNA library of A. trifoliata leaves was sequenced using the Illumina NovaSeq. 6000 sequencing system. In total, 101 417 transcripts, 63 757 unigenes, and 9494 simple sequence repeats were assembled and identified from the transcriptome datasets. The majority of the SSRs were di- and trinucleotide repeats. Length and number of SSR motifs ranged from 15 to 66, and 5 to 48 bp, respectively. Of which, the A/T mononucleotide motif and AG/TC and CT/GA dinucleotide motifs were the most abundant. Furthermore, 100 SSR primers were randomly selected to validate amplification and polymorphism, and 88 A. trifoliata accessions were definitively distinguished by 49 primers. With the Qinling mountains and Huaihe River line as the boundaries, the northern and southern accessions were clustered into different groups, but no clear geographical patterns (city or origin) were observed in the southern accessions. These newly identified molecular markers may provide a foundation for the genetic identification and diversity analysis and marker-assisted selection breeding in species of Akebia.

AIM: Abnormally high levels of homocysteine (Hcy) are associated with autism spectrum disorder. Betaine is a methyl group donor in Hcy metabolism, and is known to prevent noxious Hcy accumulation. This study explored whether betaine could influence Hcy metabolism in a mouse model of autism and ameliorate behavioral abnormalities. METHODS: Pregnant ICR mice were administered valproic acid (VPA) intraperitoneally on Embryonic Day 12.5. Serum Hcy concentrations in the offspring were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Expressions of Hcy-metabolism-related enzymes, betaine-Hcy methyltransferase, cystathionine ß-synthase, and methionine synthase, were measured by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and western blotting. Offspring were treated by either betaine or saline at the age of 8 weeks and serum Hcy concentrations were measured. Social behaviors were assessed by sniff-duration test and three-chamber test. Repetitive behavior was evaluated by marble-burying test. Tail-flick test was performed to measure nociceptive sensitivity. RESULTS: Prenatal VPA-exposed mice showed significantly elevated Hcy concentrations and decreased betaine-Hcy methyltransferase expression. Treatment with betaine could reduce Hcy level in VPA-exposed mice, attenuate social impairment and repetitive behavior, and normalize nociceptive sensitivity in this model. CONCLUSION: Betaine could ameliorate autism-like features and play a beneficial role in a mouse autism model induced by prenatal VPA exposure.

BACKGROUND: More evidence suggests that dorsal spinal cord microglia is an important site contributing to CB2 receptor-mediated analgesia. The upregulation of P2Y12 and P2Y13 purinoceptors in spinal dorsal horn microglia is involved in the development of pain behavior caused by peripheral nerve injury. However, it is not known whether the expression of P2Y12 and P2Y13 receptors at spinal dorsal horn will be influenced after CB2 receptor activation in neuropathic pain rats. METHODS: Chronic constriction injury (CCI) and intrathecal ADPbetaS injection were performed in rats to induce neuropathic pain. The paw withdrawal latency (PWL) was used to evaluate thermal hyperalgesia in neuropathic rats. The expression of P2Y12 and P2Y13 receptors, p-p38MAPK, and NF-kappaBp65 was detected with RT-PCR and western blotting analysis. RESULTS: Treatment with AM1241 produces a pronounced inhibition of CCI-induced thermal hyperalgesia and significantly inhibited the increased expression of P2Y12 and P2Y13 receptors at the mRNA and protein levels, which open up the possibility that P2Y12 and P2Y13 receptor expression are downregulated by CB2 receptor agonist AM1241 in CCI rats. Western blot analysis demonstrated that AM1241 reduced the elevated expression of p-p38MAPK and NF-κBp65 in the dorsal spinal cord induced by CCI. After administration with either SB203580 (p38MAPK inhibitor) or PDTC (NF-kappaB inhibitor), the levels of P2Y13 receptor expression in the dorsal spinal cord were lower than those in the CCI group. However, in CCI rats, the increased expression of P2Y12 receptor was prevented by intrathecal administration of PDTC but not by SB203580. In addition, minocycline significantly decreased the increased expression of P2Y12 and P2Y13 receptors. The similar results can be observed in ADPbetaS-treated rats. Intrathecal injection of ADPbataS causes thermal hyperalgesia and increased expression of P2Y12 and P2Y13 receptors in the dorsal spinal cord of naive rats. Moreover, intrathecal injection of AM1241 alleviates pain response and reduces the elevated expression of P2Y12 and P2Y13 receptors, p-p38MAPK, and NF-κBp65 in the dorsal spinal cord of ADPbetaS-treated rats. Intrathecal injection of SB203580 significantly inhibited the ADPbetaS-induced P2Y13 receptor expression, without affecting P2Y12 receptor expression. However, treatment with either SB203580 or PDTC effectively inhibited P2Y13 receptor expression compared to ADPbetaS-treated rats. CONCLUSIONS: In CCI- and ADPbetaS-treated rats, AM1241 pretreatment could efficiently activate CB2 receptor, while inhibiting p38MAPK and NF-kappaB activation in the dorsal spinal cord. CB2 receptor stimulation decreased P2Y13 receptor expression via p38MAPK/NF-kappaB signaling. On the other hand, CB2 receptor activation decreased P2Y12 receptor expression via p38MAPK-independent NF-kappaB signaling pathway.

Cracking of Akebia trifoliata fruit at maturity is problematic for the cultivation of the horticultural crop, shortening shelf-life quality and compromising commercial value. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying this feature of A. trifoliata are not known. Genes involved in cell wall metabolism were identified by genome and transcriptome sequencing, which may play important roles in fruit cracking. One of the galactose metabolism related genes, ß-galactosidase (AtrBGAL2), was identified in A. trifoliata, and overexpression (OE) of AtrBGAL2 resulted in early fruit cracking, higher water-soluble pectin contents, and lower acid-soluble pectin, cellulose, and hemicellulose content compared to the wild type. Whereas silencing of AtrBGAL2 in trifoliata by virus induced gene silencing showed opposite trends. The levels of AtrBGAL2 transcripts were 24.6 and 66.0-fold higher in OE A. trifoliata and tomato fruits, respectively, and the cell wall-related genes were also gradually greater than in control plants during fruit ripening. Whereas the expression levels of AtrBGAL2 was significantly down-regulated by 54.1 % and 73.7 % in gene silenced A. trifoliata and CRISPR/Cas9 tomato mutant plants, respectively, and cell wall-related genes were also significantly reduced. These results demonstrate that AtrBGAL2 plays important roles in regulating fruit cracking during fruit ripening.

Akebia trifoliata (Thunb.) Koidz is an important Chinese medicinal and economic crop. Its seeds, which are rich in fatty acids, are usually discarded. As of now, A. trifoliata lipid biosynthesis pathways and genes have not been clearly described. In this work, we found that seed and fruit development of A. trifoliata were not synchronized, and that when the fruit was ripe, seed oil content was not at its highest. As seeds developed, linoleic and oleic acid content was found to decrease and increase, respectively. RNA sequencing yielded 108.45 GB of clean reads from 15 cDNA libraries, containing 8756 differentially expressed genes. We identified 65 unigenes associated with lipid biosynthesis, including fatty acid and triacylglycerol biosynthesis. The 65 unigenes were mapped to the A. trifoliata lipid synthesis pathway. There were 20 AtrFAD family members in A. trifoliata, which could be divided into four sub-groups with the highest number of AtrSADs. Our study revealed the dynamic changes in A. trifoliata seed oil content and composition during its growth period and provides large-scale and comprehensive transcriptome data of A. trifoliata seeds. These findings provide a basis for the improvement of A. trifoliata seed oil yield and quality.

Citrus aurantium L. (sour orange) is a significant Chinese medicinal and fruit crop rich in flavonoids. However, the pathways and genes involved in flavonoid biosynthesis at the key developmental stages of Citrus aurantium L. are not fully understood. This study found that the total flavonoid concentration gradually decreased as the fruit developed. Additionally, it showed that neohesperidin was the main flavonoid in the early stages of sour orange fruit development. However, as the development stage progressed, naringin content increased rapidly and emerged as the main flavonoid component. From 27 cDNA libraries, RNA sequencing yielded 16.64 billion clean bases, including 8989 differentially expressed genes. We identified 74 flavonoid related unigenes mapped to the phenylalanine, tyrosine, and phenylpropanoid biosynthesis pathways. A total of 152 UDP-glucuronosyltransferase genes (UGTs) were identified from C. aurantium L. transcriptome database, in which 22 key flavonoid-correlated UGTs were divided into five main AtGT groups: E, G, I, L, M. We observed that the ethylene responsive factors (ERF) and myeloblastosis (MYB) family mainly regulated the key genes involved in flavonoid biosynthesis. Overall, our study generated extensive and detailed transcriptome data on the development of C. aurantium L. and characterized the flavonoid biosynthesis pattern during its fruit developmental stages. These results will benefit genetic modification or selection to increase the flavonoid content in sour oranges.

Wilms' tumor, also called nephroblastoma, is an extremely uncommon kidney tumor of adulthood. We reported a adult man with a left kidney mass diagnosed as Wilms' tumor. Case presentation: A 25-year-old man was hospitalized due to injury of the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee. Preoperative imaging accidentally revealed a mass measuring 53 × 46 mm involving the middle and lower segments of the left kidney without evidence supporting the invasion of the surrounding structures or metastasis. The patient didn't show any symptom commonly occurred in Wilms' tumor, such as flank pain or hematuria. After nephrectomy, the diagnosis of adult Wilms' tumor was confirmed based on the tumor morphology and immunohistochemical findings. Conclusion: In adult patients without any clinical manifestations or favorable imaging findings for low-stage renal cell carcinoma, the diagnosis of Wilms' tumor should be taken into consideration.

The incidence of gossypiboma is considerably higher in open cavity surgeries, among which cesarean section ranks number one. However, it is difficult to diagnose abdomen or pelvic gossypibomas after cesarean section. We retrospectively analyzed the clinical and imaging data of three pathologically confirmed gossypiboma patients at varied durations after cesarean section. In case one, at four months after cesarean section, a gossypiboma near the small intestine caused fistula and intestinal obstruction. Soft tissue density lesion along the intestinal canal made the "segmental honeycomb sign" and "truncation" with metal markings on the edge on computed tomography (CT). Magnetic sensitivity artifacts were demonstrated as hypointensity on T1 weighted image (T1WI) and T2 weighted image (T2WI), while hyperintensity was seen on the diffusion weighted image (DWI). In case two, a gossypiboma in the peritoneal and intestinal space was revealed with MRI at 18 months after cesarean section. It was featured as a cystic and solid lesion, with "vortex like sign" and obvious ring enhancement on contrast-enhanced MRI scan. In case three, five years after cesarean section, a mass was palpated in the right middle and lower abdomen. MRI revealed a round mass of T1 hypointensity with mixed T2 signal, as well as swirling hypointensity in T2WI, T2WI-fat suppression (FS), and DWI. In CT and MRI examinations for suspected gossypiboma after cesarean section, "honeycomb sign" and "vortex like sign" are the characteristic appearances; gauze translocated into the intestine may show the "truncation sign". Accurate diagnosis is based on the surgery history, symptoms, and imaging features.

INTRODUCTION: The apolipoprotein E (APOE) gene is a promising candidate for the diagnosis of hyperlipoproteinaemia and atherosclerosis. Polymorphisms in APOE have been reported to result in differential efficacies of statin drugs in atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. METHODS: We classified the APOE genotypes of 225 patients treated with atorvastatin, and analysed the relation between genotypes and serum lipid levels. RESULTS: The baseline serum levels of total cholesterol (TC) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) were significantly lower in carriers of APOE ε3 than of APOE ε4 genotypes. The serum levels of TC and LDL-C decreased significantly after 1 month of atorvastatin treatment. Atorvastatin has a higher significant effect in reducing serum TC and LDL-C levels in patients with the APOE ε4 genotype. CONCLUSION: Polymorphism in the APOE gene is related to the efficacy of atorvastatin in reducing the serum levels of TC and LDL-C.

Physicochemical properties, oil content, and fatty acids (FAs) composition are key for determining the value of oil crops. The aim of this study was to illustrate the potential of exploiting A. trifoliata as an edible oil crop, and establish a rapid measurement model for the A. trifoliata seeds oil (ASO) content and composition. In 130 A. trifoliata germplasms, the highest content of ASO was 51.27%, and unsaturated fatty acids (UFAs) mainly accounted for 74-78% of ASO. The partial least squares (PLS) model based on GC-MS and near-infrared spectroscopy was well-suited for the determination of ASO and UFA content; however, the PLS model for oleic acid (OA) and linoleic acid (LA) was not effective. The acid values and peroxide values for ASO also conformed to the Chinese food safety standards. Our findings will provide new insights and guidance for the use of A. trifoliata as oil crops..

Owing to its medicinal and high nutritional values, Akebia trifoliata can be considered as a new type of medicinal and edible homologous resources, and it has begun to be widely cultivated in many areas of China. Over-softening of fruit would affect the sensorial quality, utilization rate, and consumer acceptance of the fruit postharvest. However, fruit softening has not been characterized and the molecular mechanism underlying A. trifoliata fruit softening during ripening remains unclear. A comparative proteomic analysis was performed on the fruit at three developmental stages using tandem mass tag technology. In total, 2,839 proteins and 302 differentially abundant proteins (DAPs) were identified. Bioinformatics analysis indicated that most DAPs were implicated in oxidoreductase activity, protein domain-specific binding and pyruvate metabolism. Moreover, 29 DAPs associated with cell wall metabolism, plant hormone, and stress and defense response pathways were validated using quantitative PCR. Notably, pectinesterase, pectate lyase, and ß-galactosidase, which are involved in cell wall degradation, as well as gibberellin regulated protein, cysteine protease, thaumatin-like protein and heat shock proteins which is involved in plant hormone, and stress and defense response, were significantly up-regulated in softening fruit compared with the levels in non-softening fruit. This indicated that they might play key roles in A. trifoliata fruit softening. Our findings will provide new insights into potential genes influencing fruit softening traits of A. trifoliata, which will help to develop strategies to improve fruit quality and reduce softening-related losses.

INTRODUCTION: We studied the regulatory mechanism of the habitual brain network in tobacco dependence to provide a theoretical basis for the regulation and cessation of tobacco dependence. METHODS: We used resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) to explore the Fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations (fALFF) and functional connectivity (FC) of the habitual brain network in tobacco-dependent subjects and to evaluate the relationship between the FC level and tobacco selection preference behavior. In total, 29 male tobacco-dependent participants and 28 male nonsmoking participants were recruited. rs-fMRI was used to collect blood oxygen level-dependent signals of the participants in the resting and awake states. After rs-fMRI, all subjects completed cigarette/coin selection tasks (task 1 and task 2). RESULTS: Compared with the control group, the tobacco dependence group showed increased fractional amplitude values of fALFF in the left posterior cingulate cortex and right parahippocampus. FC in the tobacco-dependent group was increased in the right inferior temporal gyrus, left middle frontal gyrus, left cingulated gyrus, and bilateral superior frontal gyrus, compared with that in the control group. Moreover, the preference selection behavior was associated with the enhancement of FC about parts of the brain regions in the habitual brain network of the tobacco-dependent participants. Thus, habitual network activity was significantly enhanced in tobacco-dependent participants in the resting state. Moreover, a positive correlation was found between the cigarette selection preference of the smokers and certain brain regions related to the habitual network. DISCUSSION: This suggests that increased activity of the habitual brain network may be essential in the development of tobacco-dependent behavior.

Understand genetic diversity and genetic structure of germplasm is premise of germplasm conservation and utilization. And core collection can reduce the cost and difficulty of germplasm conservation. Akebia trifoliata (Thunb.) Koidz is an important medicinal, fruit and oil crop, particularly in China. In this study, 28 simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers were used to assess the genetic diversity and genetic structure of 955 A. trifoliata germplasms, determine their molecular identity and extract a core collection. The genetic diversity of the 955 germplasms was moderately polymorphic. The average number of alleles (Na), observed heterozygosity (H O ), expected heterozygosity (H E ), Shannon's information index (I∗), and polymorphic information content (PIC) were 3.71, 0.24, 0.46, 0.81, and 0.41, respectively. Four subpopulations were identified, indicating a weak genetic structure. A 955 germplasms could be completely distinguished by the characters of s28, s25, s74, s89, s68, s30, s13, s100, s72, s77, and s3. And each germplasm's molecular identity was made up of eleven characters. The core collection was composed of 164 germplasms (17.2% of 955 total germplasms in the population) and diversity parameters differed significantly from those of a random core collection. These results have implications for germplasm conservation. At the same time, based on the results, the 955 germplasm could be better used and managed.

BACKGROUND: In neonatal rats, MK-801 treatment generates schizophrenia-like symptoms. Resveratrol (RSV) is a phenolic compound and a potent neuroprotective agent. This research aimed to illustrate the effect of RSV on the amelioration of MK-801-induced cognitive and motor impairments in a neonatal rat schizophrenia model and the related potential molecular changes. METHODS: Rats were administrated with MK-801, MK-801 + RSV (40 mg/kg), or MK-801 + RSV (80 mg/kg). Motor learning, coordination, locomotor and exploratory activity, and spatial memory were measured by rotarod test, pen field test, and Morris water maze test. Relative protein levels were analyzed by Western blot and ELISA. mRNA levels were shown by qRT-PCR. RESULTS: In the hippocampus of MK-801-induced schizophrenia rat model, RSV enhanced silent information regulator 1 (SIRT1) and brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression and alleviated oxidative stress. Motor perturbations and learning impairments by MK-801 treatment were ameliorated by the administration of RSV. CONCLUSION: In conclusion, RSV showed neuroprotective effect on MK-801-induced schizophrenia rat model through regulating SIRT1 and downstream BDNF expression in the hippocampus.

BACKGROUND: Akebia trifoliata (Thunb.) Koidz may have applications as a new potential source of biofuels owing to its high seed count, seed oil content, and in-field yields. However, the pericarp of A. trifoliata cracks longitudinally during fruit ripening, which increases the incidence of pests and diseases and can lead to fruit decay and deterioration, resulting in significant losses in yield. Few studies have evaluated the mechanisms underlying A. trifoliata fruit cracking. RESULTS: In this study, by observing the cell wall structure of the pericarp, we found that the cell wall became thinner and looser and showed substantial breakdown in the pericarp of cracking fruit compared with that in non-cracking fruit. Moreover, integrative analyses of transcriptome and proteome profiles at different stages of fruit ripening demonstrated changes in the expression of various genes and proteins after cracking. Furthermore, the mRNA levels of 20 differentially expressed genes were analyzed, and parallel reaction monitoring analysis of 20 differentially expressed proteins involved in cell wall metabolism was conducted. Among the molecular targets, pectate lyases and pectinesterase, which are involved in pentose and glucuronate interconversion, and ß-galactosidase 2, which is involved in galactose metabolism, were significantly upregulated in cracking fruits than in non-cracking fruits. This suggested that they might play crucial roles in A. trifoliata fruit cracking. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings provided new insights into potential genes influencing the fruit cracking trait in A. trifoliata and established a basis for further research on the breeding of cracking-resistant varieties to increase seed yields for biorefineries.
