RESUMO

An electrochemical synthetic strategy to construct P(O)-F bonds was developed via the Atherton-Todd reaction. Promoted by Et4NCl, a series of biologically active phosphoric fluorides were synthesized by use of commercially available P(O)-H feedstocks and Et3N·3HF as the F-source. With this protocol, some potentially functional P(O)-OR and P(O)-SR motifs could also be smoothly forged. This sustainable fluorination approach features step-economy, is chemical-oxidant- and metal-catalyst-free, and offers low cost and mild conditions. Additionally, cyclic voltammetry and control experiments were conducted to propose a reasonable mechanism.

RESUMO

Early identification of individuals with high risk is crucial to preventing cardiovascular disease (CVD). We aimed to determine the prevalence of high CVD risk in Inner Mongolia and to analyze the treatment of major risk factors among individuals with high CVD risk. We selected 70,380 participants aged 35-75 years in Inner Mongolia between 2015 and 2017 using multistage stratified sampling. All participants completed a questionnaire and their blood pressure, blood glucose and lipid levels, height, weight and waist circumference were measured. Participants without a history of CVD were defined as high CVD risk if the predicted 10-year risk for CVD exceeded 10%. We assessed rates of high CVD risk and the prevalence and treatment of major risk factors among individuals with high CVD risk. After excluding participants with previous CVD, 68,083 participants remained. The overall prevalence of high CVD risk was 24.96%. The age- and sex-standardized rate of high CVD risk was 22.92%. Among high-risk participants, the prevalence of risk factors was hypertension (91.9%), dyslipidemia (54.1%), obesity (34.6%), diabetes (27.6%), and smoking (24.5%); clustering of these risk factors was common. The percentage of high-risk individuals taking antihypertensive drugs was 45.94% in those with hypertension; 27.99% of those with diabetes took hypoglycemic drugs and only 5.01% of those with dyslipidemia took lipid-lowering drugs. Control rates of hypertension, diabetes, and dyslipidemia were 1.20%, 4.43%, and 2.78%, respectively. Therefore, the prevalence of high CVD risk was elevated in Inner Mongolia, and treatment and control rates were low.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Hypertension has always been a worldwide health concern. The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence, awareness, treatment, and control rates of hypertension among adult residents of northern China, where people usually have a high-fat, high-salt diet and heavy alcohol consumption. METHODS: Through the Early Screening and Comprehensive Intervention Project for High Risk Groups of Cardiovascular Diseases in the Inner Mongolia of northern China, we collected data of 70,380 residents, from September 2015 to June 2017. We assessed the prevalence, awareness, treatment, and control of hypertension in the total population and sub-populations. Multivariable logistic regression analyses were used to identify the factors associated with the prevalence and control of hypertension. RESULTS: Among participants, only 13.4% had optimal blood pressure levels. About 55.7% (95% confidence interval (CI) = 55.3-56.1%) of the participants had hypertension. In addition, the awareness, treatment, control and control under-treatment rate of hypertension were 52.8% (95%CI = 52.3-53.3%), 43.3% (95%CI = 42.8-43.8%), 8.6% (95%CI = 8.3-8.9%) and 19.8% (95%CI = 19.2-20.4%), respectively. Multivariable logistic regression showed that older, male, Han, living in rural areas, current drinker, not married, lower educational level, lower annual income, diabetes, obesity, and dyslipidemia were more likely to be suffered from hypertension (P < 0.05). Controlled hypertension was less common in those younger, Mongol, not married, farmer, current drinker, lower educational level, obesity, diabetes, without prior CHD, and without prior CVD (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Among populations aged 35-75 years in Northern China, more than half have hypertension, fewer than one-tenth have successfully controlled hypertension, and fewer than one-fifth of hypertension patients receiving treatment have controlled hypertension.

RESUMO

Reducing the risk of diabetes has been a great public health challenge in China. In this study, we aimed to estimate the treatment and control of FPG (fasting blood plasma glucose) as well as the other main modifiable cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors in patients with diabetes and to identify those characteristics associated with the treatment and control of diabetes, hypertension, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C). Between 2015 and 2017, participants aged 35 to 75 years from Inner Mongolia in northern China were recruited. A total 13,644 participants with diabetes were enrolled in this study. We calculated rates and 95% confidence intervals for treatment and control of FPG, blood pressure, and LDL-C. We performed multivariate logistic regression to identify characteristics associated with the treatment and control of diabetes as well as hypertension and LDL-C. Overall, the treatment rates of diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidemia were 30.76%, 50.75%, and 9.17%, respectively. Control rates of FPG, blood pressure, and LDL-C were 4.73%, 4.86%, and 57.83%, respectively. Patients who were younger, Mongol ethnicity and rural residents were less likely to be treated and controlled for diabetes and hypertension. Patients insured by NCMS (new rural cooperative medical scheme) were less likely to be treated and achieve the treatment target of blood pressure. Patients having prior CVD were more likely to be treated and have controlled FPG and blood pressure. Substantial efforts are urgently needed to improve the treatment and control of these modifiable CVD risk factors among patients with diabetes in Inner Mongolia.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevalence has increased continuously over the last 30 years in China. Dyslipidemia is an important modifiable risk factor in CVD. We aimed to collect current data on the prevalence of dyslipidemia in northern China and explore potential influencing factors. METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, we selected a representative sample of 65,128 participants aged ≥35 years in Inner Mongolia during 2015-2017. All participants completed a questionnaire and were examined for risk factors. Dyslipidemia was defined according to 2016 Chinese guidelines for adults. The associated factors for dyslipidemia were estimated by multivariate logistic regression analysis. RESULTS: The age-standardized prevalence of dyslipidemia was 31.2% overall, with 4.3, 2.4, 14.7, and 17.4% for high total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), triglycerides (TG), and low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), respectively. The dyslipidemia prevalence was significantly higher in men than women (37.9% vs. 27.5%, P < 0.001), but postmenopausal women had a higher prevalence of dyslipidemia components (except low HDL-C). Compared with Han participants, Mongol participants had a lower prevalence of dyslipidemia (29.1% vs. 31.4%, P < 0.001). Male sex, living in urban areas, Han ethnicity, smoking, obesity, central obesity, hypertension, and diabetes were all positively correlated with dyslipidemia; alcohol consumption was linked to lower risk of dyslipidemia. CONCLUSIONS: Our study revealed that dyslipidemia is a health problem in northern China. Greater efforts to prevent and manage dyslipidemia, especially in men under age 55 years, postmenopausal women, and people with unhealthy lifestyles or chronic diseases.

RESUMO

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a life-threatening chronic illness. CVD risk may be influenced by environment and lifestyle. People in northern China usually consume high-fat, high-salt diets and alcohol and live in a cold climate over long periods. However, there are limited studies on CVD risk among people in northern China. In the present study, we sought to estimate the CVD risk profile among residents of northern China. Using the Programme of Screening and Intervention Subjects with High Risk Cardiovascular Diseases, we collected data from residents in six cities from September 2015 to June 2017. In total, 56,716 participants aged 40 years and above were finally included in the CVD risk assessment. To assess the 10-year risk of CVD among participants, we used World Health Organisation/International Society of Hypertension risk prediction charts. Among the study participants, 22.7% had a high 10-year risk of CVD. We identified differences in the 10-year CVD risk according to sex, socioeconomic status, and marital status. We conclude that individuals with high socioeconomic status should be encouraged to change their lifestyle habits, and greater medical resources should be invested for individuals residing in rural areas and those with low education levels.

RESUMO

Herein, an environmentally friendly electrochemical approach is reported that takes advantage of the captodative effect and delocalization effect to generate nitrogen-centered radicals (NCRs). By changing the reaction parameters of the electrode material and feedstock solubility, dearomatization enabled a selective dehydrogenative C-N versus N-N bond formation reaction. Hence, pyrido[1,2-a]benzimidazole and tetraarylhydrazine frameworks were prepared through a sustainable transition-metal- and exogenous oxidant-free strategy with broad generality. Bioactivity assays demonstrated that pyrido[1,2-a]benzimidazoles displayed antimicrobial activity and cytotoxicity against human cancer cells. Compound 21 exhibited good photochemical properties with a large Stokes shift (approximately 130 nm) and was successfully applied to subcellular imaging. A preliminary mechanism investigation and density functional theory (DFT) calculations revealed the possible reaction pathway.

RESUMO

Gold (Au) on ceria-zirconia is one of the most active catalysts for the low-temperature water-gas shift reaction (LTS), a key stage of upgrading H2 reformate streams for fuel cells. However, this catalyst rapidly deactivates on-stream and the deactivation mechanism remains unclear. Using stop-start scanning transmission electron microscopy to follow the exact same area of the sample at different stages of the LTS reaction, as well as complementary X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, we observed the activation and deactivation of the catalyst at various stages. During the heating of the catalyst to reaction temperature, we observed the formation of small Au nanoparticles (NPs; 1-2 nm) from subnanometer Au species. These NPs were then seen to agglomerate further over 48 h on-stream, and most rapidly in the first 5 h when the highest rate of deactivation was observed. These findings suggest that the primary deactivation process consists of the loss of active sites through the agglomeration and possible dewetting of Au NPs.

RESUMO

The powder metallurgy process of the Al-graphene system is conducted by molecular dynamics (MD) simulations to investigate the role of graphene. During the sintering process, graphene is considered to reduce the pore size and metal grain size based on the volume change and atomic configuration of the Al parts in the composite. Compared with the pure Al system, the space occupied by the same number of Al atoms in the sintered composite is 15-20 nm3 smaller, and the sintered composite has about 5000 fewer arranged atoms. Because these models are carefully designed to avoid a serious deformation of graphene in the tension of sandwich-like composite models, the strengthening mechanism close to the experimental theory where graphene just serves to transfer a load can be studied dynamically. The boundary comprising of two phases is confirmed to hinder the motion of dislocations, while the crack grows along the interface beside graphene, forming a fracture surface of orderly arranged Al atoms. The results indicate that single-layer graphene (SLG) gives rise to an increase of 1.2 or 0.4 GPa in tensile strength when stretched in in-plane or normal direction, while bilayer graphene (BLG) brings a clear rise of 1.2-1.3 GPa in both directions. In both in-plane and normal stretching directions, the mechanical properties of the composite can be improved clearly by graphene giving rise to a strong boundary, new crack path, and more dense structure.

RESUMO

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs)-based photocatalysts have received growing attention for photocatalytic hydrogen (H2 ) production. One of the big challenges in the field is to find ways to promote energy/electron transfer and exciton dissociation. Addressing this challenge, herein, a series of olefin-linked 2D COFs is fabricated with high crystallinity, porosity, and robustness using a melt polymerization method without adding volatile organic solvents. It is found that regulation of the spatial distances between the acceptor units (triazine and 2, 2'-bipyridine) of COFs to match the charge carrier diffusion length can dramatically promote the exciton dissociation, hence leading to outstanding photocatalytic H2 evolution performance. The COF with the appropriate acceptor distance achieves exceptional photocatalytic H2 evolution with an apparent quantum yield of 56.2% at 475 nm, the second highest value among all COF photocatalysts and 70 times higher than the well-studied polymer carbon nitride. Various experimental and computation studies are then conducted to in-depth unveil the mechanism behind the enhanced performance. This study will provide important guidance for the design of highly efficient organic semiconductor photocatalysts.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To assess the impact of cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factor control on health-related quality of life (HRQoL), as well as the other influencing factors of HRQoL among high CVD risk individuals. METHODS: From 2015 to 2017, residents of six villages or communities in Inner Mongolia, selected using a multi-stage stratified cluster random sampling method, were invited to complete a questionnaire and undergo physical examination and laboratory testing. We selected participants whose predicted 10-year risk for CVD exceeded 10% as those with high CVD risk. HRQoL in individuals with high CVD risk was investigated based on the EuroQol-5 Dimension (EQ-5D) scale. The Chinese utility value integral system was used to calculate EQ-5D utility scores, and the Tobit regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors of HRQoL among individuals with high CVD risk. RESULTS: Of 13,359 participants with high CVD risk, 65.63% reported no problems in any of the five dimensions; the most frequently reported difficulty was pain/discomfort. The median utility score was 1.000 (0.869, 1.000). Participants with hypertension, and uncontrolled glycemic and blood lipids had lower HRQoL. In addition, sex, age, living environment, education level, household income, and medical insurance were influencing factors of HRQoL. CONCLUSION: Sex, age, living environment, education level, household income, medical insurance, hypertension, and whether glycemic and blood lipids control or not are related to HRQoL of high CVD risk individuals.

RESUMO

Polymer microsphere profile control is a promising approach for the profile control of heterogeneous reservoirs. Matching between polymer microspheres and the reservoir pore throat is crucial for profile control. In this study, the range of the optimal matching factor Ra between polymer microspheres and core porosity was divided through core permeability limit experiments, and the dynamic migration laws and shut-off patterns of microspheres were studied using 9-m-long cores and microscopic models. The oil displacement effect and mechanism of microspheres were analyzed using three cores in parallel. The "injectability limit" and "in-depth migration limit" curves were divided by Ra into three zones: blockage (Ra < 1.09 ± 0.10), near-well profile control (1.09 ± 0.10 < Ra < 5.70 ± 0.64), and in-depth fluid diversion (Ra > 5.70 ± 0.64). During migration in porous media, the microspheres gradually enlarged in size and thus successively shut off in four forms: multi-microsphere bridging shut-off, few-microsphere bridging shut-off, single-microsphere shut-off, and elastic shut-off. Microspheres with a rational combination of sizes versus those with a single particle size further enhanced reservoir oil recovery under certain reservoir conditions. Through "temporary shut-off-breakthrough-temporary shut-off," the polymer microspheres were able to change the fluid flow rate and streamlines, mobilize residual oils, and enhance the oil recovery rates.
