In insects, the loss of flight typically involves a dispersal-reproduction transition, but the underlying molecular mechanisms remain poorly understood. In the parthenogenetic pea aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum, winged females undergo flight-muscle degeneration after flight and feeding on new host plants. Similarly, topical application of a juvenile hormone (JH) mimic to starved aphids also induces flight-muscle degeneration. We found that feeding preferentially upregulated the expression of the JH receptor gene Met and a JH-inducible gene, Kr-h1, in the flight muscles, and, thus, enhanced tissue-specific JH sensitivity and signaling. RNAi-mediated knockdown of Kr-h1 prevented flight-muscle degeneration. Likewise, blocking nutritional signals by pharmacological inhibition of the target of rapamycin complex 1 (TORC1) impaired JH sensitivity of the flight muscles in feeding aphids and subsequently delayed muscle degeneration. RNA-sequencing analysis revealed that enhanced JH signaling inhibited the transcription of genes involved in the tricarboxylic acid cycle, likely resulting in reduction of the energy supply, mitochondrial dysfunction and muscle-fiber breakdown. This study shows that nutrient-dependent hormone sensitivity regulates developmental plasticity in a tissue-specific manner, emphasizing a relatively underappreciated mechanism of hormone sensitivity in modulating hormone signaling.

The application of supramolecular templates in aligning atomically precise heterometal arrays is important for pursuing functional materials. Herein, we report that a bilayered supramolecular tri-deprotonated melamine dimer functions as an effective template in the construction of a heterometallic gold(I)-silver(I) macrocyclic cluster [µ6 -(C3 N6 H3 )3- ]2 -AuI 6 AgI 6 . X-ray single crystal structural analysis showed that a crown-like AuI 6 AgI 6 macrocycle is aligned around two parallelly stacked µ6 -(C3 N6 H3 )3- moieties hold together with π-π interactions. Theoretical calculations revealed that the [µ6 -(C3 N6 H3 )3- ]2 motif dominantly contributes to the near-occupied orbitals in the electronic structure, which is closely related to its luminescence properties. This work demonstrates that the supramolecular templates containing multiple symmetric binding sites may present a facile approach in the construction of functional metal clusters.

Insect cuticular hydrocarbons (CHCs) serve as important intersexual signaling chemicals and generally show variation between the sexes, but little is known about the generation of sexually dimorphic hydrocarbons (SDHCs) in insects. In this study, we report the molecular mechanism and biological significance that underlie the generation of SDHC in the German cockroach Blattella germanica. Sexually mature females possess more C29 CHCs, especially the contact sex pheromone precursor 3,11-DimeC29. RNA interference (RNAi) screen against the fatty acid elongase family members combined with heterologous expression of the genes in yeast revealed that both BgElo12 and BgElo24 were involved in hydrocarbon (HC) production, but BgElo24 is of wide catalytic activities and is able to provide substrates for BgElo12, and only the female-enriched BgElo12 is responsible for sustaining female-specific HC profile. Repressing BgElo12 masculinized the female CHC profile, decreased contact sex pheromone level, and consequently reduced the sexual attractiveness of female cockroaches. Moreover, the asymmetric expression of BgElo12 between the sexes is modulated by sex differentiation cascade. Specifically, male-specific BgDsx represses the transcription of BgElo12 in males, while BgTra is able to remove this effect in females. Our study reveals a novel molecular mechanism responsible for the formation of SDHCs and also provide evidences on shaping of the SDHCs by sexual selection, as females use them to generate high levels of contact sex pheromone.

BACKGROUND: The triglyceride glucose-body mass index (TyG-BMI index) has been suggested as a novel predictor of insulin resistance. However, its predictive value for slow coronary flow phenomenon (SCFP) in patients with ischemia and nonobstructive coronary arteries (INOCA) remains unclear. METHODS: We consecutively recruited 1625 patients with INOCA from February 2019 to February 2023 and divided them into two groups based on thrombolysis in myocardial infarction (TIMI) frame counts (TFCs): the SCFP group (n = 79) and the control group. A 1:2 age-matched case-control study was then performed. The TyG-BMI index was calculated as ln [plasma triglyceride (mg/dL) × fasting blood glucose (mg/dL)/2] × BMI. RESULTS: TyG-BMI index in the SCFP group (218.3 ± 25.2 vs 201.0 ± 26.5, P < .001) was significantly higher than in the normal controls. TyG-BMI index also increased with the number of coronary arteries involved in the SCFP. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that TyG-BMI, BMI, and TG were independent predictors for SCFP. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis showed that when the TyG-BMI index was above 206.7, the sensitivity and specificity were 88.6% and 68.5%, respectively, with an AUC of 0.809 (95% CI: 0.756-0.863, P = .027). Combined BMI with TG, the TyG-BMI index had a better predictive value for SCFP than BMI and TG (P < .001). CONCLUSION: The TyG-BMI index was an independent predictor for SCFP in INOCA patients, and it had a better predictive value than BMI and TG.

Insect cuticular hydrocarbons (CHCs) serve as important waterproofing barriers and as signals and cues in chemical communication. Over the past 30 years, numerous studies on CHCs have been conducted in the German cockroach, Blattella germanica, leading to substantial progress in the field. However, there has not been a systematic review of CHC studies in this species in recent years. This review aims to provide a concise overview of the chemical composition, storage, transport, and physical properties of different CHCs in B. germanica. Additionally, we focus on the biosynthetic pathway and the genetic regulation of HC biosynthesis in this species. A considerable amount of biochemical evidence regarding the biosynthetic pathway of insect CHCs has been gathered from studies conducted in B. germanica. In recent years, there has also been an improved understanding of the molecular mechanisms that underlie CHC production in this insect. In this article, we summarize the biosynthesis of different classes of CHCs in B. germanica. Then, we review CHCs reaction to various environmental conditions and stressors and internal physiological states. Additionally, we review a body of work showing that in B. germanica, CHC profiles exhibit significant sexual dimorphism, specific CHCs act as essential precursors for female contact sex pheromone components, and we summarize the molecular regulatory mechanisms that underlie sexual dimorphism of CHC profiles. Finally, we highlight future directions and challenges in research on the biosynthesis and regulatory mechanisms of CHCs in B. germanica, and also identify potential applications of CHC studies in the pest control.

BACKGROUND: Accurately identifying patients with axillary pathologic complete response (pCR) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in breast cancer patients remains challenging. PURPOSE: To compare the feasibility of shear wave elastography (SWE) performed on breast tumors and axillary lymph nodes (LNs) in predicting the axillary status after NAC. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This prospective study included a total of 319 breast cancer patients with biopsy-proven positive node who received NAC followed by axillary lymph node dissection from 2019 to 2022. The correlations between shear wave velocity (SWV) and pathologic characteristics were analyzed separately for both breast tumors and LNs after NAC. We compared the performance of SWV between breast tumors and LNs in predicting the axillary status after NAC. Additionally, we evaluated the performance of the most significantly correlated pathologic characteristic in breast tumors and LNs to investigate the pathologic evidence supporting the use of breast or axilla SWE. RESULTS: Axillary pCR was achieved in 51.41% of patients with node-positive breast cancer. In breast tumors, there is a stronger correlation between SWV and collagen volume fraction (CVF) (r = 0.52, p < 0.001) compared to tumor cell density (TCD) (r = 0.37, p < 0.001). In axillary LNs, SWV was weakly correlated with CVF (r = 0.31, p = 0.177) and TCD (r = 0.29, p = 0.213). No significant correlation was found between SWV and necrosis proportion in breast tumors or axillary LNs. The predictive performances of both SWV and CVF for axillary pCR were found to be superior in breast tumors (AUC = 0.87 and 0.85, respectively) compared to axillary LNs (AUC = 0.70 and 0.74, respectively). CONCLUSION: SWE has the ability to characterize the extracellular matrix, and serves as a promising modality for evaluating axillary LNs after NAC. Notably, breast SWE outperform axilla SWE in determining the axillary status in breast cancer patients after NAC.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most prevalent cancers and the second leading cause of cancer deaths in developed countries. Early CRC may have no symptoms and symptoms usually appear with more advanced diseases. Regular screening can identify people who are at increased risk of CRC in order to offer earlier treatment. A cost-effective non-invasive platform for the screening and monitoring of CRC patients allows early detection and appropriate treatment of the disease, and the timely application of adjuvant therapy after surgical operation is needed. In this study, a cohort of 71 plasma samples that include 48 colonoscopy- and histopathology-confirmed CRC patients with TNM stages I to IV were recruited between 2017 and 2019. Plasma mRNA profiling was performed in CRC patients using NanoString nCounter. Normalized data were analyzed using a Mann-Whitney U test to determine statistically significant differences between samples from CRC patients and healthy subjects. A multiple-group comparison of clinical phenotypes was performed using the Kruskal-Wallis H test for statistically significant differences between multiple groups. Among the 27 selected circulating mRNA markers, all of them were found to be overexpressed (gene expression fold change > 2) in the plasma of patients from two or more CRC stages. In conclusion, NanoString-based targeted plasma CRC-associated mRNAs circulating the marker panel that can significantly distinguish CRC patients from a healthy population were developed for the non-invasive diagnosis of CRC using peripheral blood samples.

Metagenomic sequencing has emerged as a transformative tool in infectious disease diagnosis, offering a comprehensive and unbiased approach to pathogen detection. Leveraging international standards and guidelines is essential for ensuring the quality and reliability of metagenomic sequencing in clinical practice. This review explores the implications of international standards and guidelines for the application of metagenomic sequencing in infectious disease diagnosis. By adhering to established standards, such as those outlined by regulatory bodies and expert consensus, healthcare providers can enhance the accuracy and clinical utility of metagenomic sequencing. The integration of international standards and guidelines into metagenomic sequencing workflows can streamline diagnostic processes, improve pathogen identification, and optimize patient care. Strategies in implementing these standards for infectious disease diagnosis using metagenomic sequencing are discussed, highlighting the importance of standardized approaches in advancing precision infectious disease diagnosis initiatives.

Nauclea officinalis is a Chinese medicinal material with a high medicinal value, which contains various chemical constituents such as alkaloids, pentacyclic triterpenoids and their saponins, organic phenolic acids and their glycosides, iridoids, and flavonoids. It has antiviral, antibacterial, antipyretic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and immunoregulatory functions. This article systematically reviewed the reported chemical constituents and pharmacological effects of N. officinalis. According to the concept of quality markers, the quality markers of N. officinalis were predicted and analyzed from the aspects of plant kinship, specificity of chemical constituents, traditional drug efficacy, measurability of chemical constituents, plasma components, and different producing areas and harvest times, in order to provide a basis for the quality evaluation of N. officinalis.

Non-reciprocal reflections of optical signals are unusual yet fascinating to achieve the imminent applications of non-reciprocal photonic devices and circuits. The complete non-reciprocal reflection (unidirectional reflection) was recently found to be achievable in a homogeneous medium, if the real and imaginary parts of the probe susceptibility satisfy the spatial Kramers-Kronig (KK) relation. We propose a coherent four-level tripod model for realizing dynamically tunable two-color non-reciprocal reflections by applying two control fields with linearly modulated intensities. We found that, the unidirectional reflection can be obtained if the non-reciprocal frequency regions are located in the electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) windows. This mechanism is to break the spatial symmetry by the spatial modulation of susceptibility to induce unidirectional reflections, the real and imaginary parts of the probe susceptibility are no longer required to satisfy the spatial KK relation.

AIMS: Feathers are keratin-rich byproducts of poultry processing, but those are often frequently abandoned as garbage and thus polluting the environment. Therefore, the study focused on the efficient biodegradation, bioactivity, and high-value application of feather keratin. METHODS AND RESULTS: Feather-degrading bacteria were identified, and the degradation properties were characterized. DPPH (1,1-Diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical) and ABTS (2,2'-Azino-bis (3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid))radical scavenging assays, cytotoxicity assays, intracellular reactive oxygen scavenging assays, and cell migration assays were used to examine the biological activities of the feather keratin hydrolysis peptides (FKHPs). The results showed that we screened a feather-degrading strain of Bacillus licheniformis 8-4, which achieved complete degradation of 2% (w/v) feathers within 48 h. Notably, the feather fermentation broth was particularly high in FKHPs, which exhibited good DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging ability. Further studies revealed that FKHPs had both the ability to scavenge H2O2-induced ROS from HaCat cells and the ability to promote HaCat cell migration, while remaining non-toxic. CONCLUSIONS: The effective feather-degrading ability of B. licheniformis 8-4 allowed for the fermentation of feather medium to yield active peptides that were both antioxidants and cell-migration enhancers.

BACKGROUND: Prior studies have suggested that the chronic inflammatory response has an important role in the pathophysiology of slow coronary flow phenomenon (SCFP). However, data are scarce regarding the role of plasma fibrinogen-to-albumin ratio (PFAR) in patients having SCFP without obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD). In this study, we investigated the relationship between PFAR and the presence of SCFP in patients without obstructive CAD. METHODS: From January 2021 to January 2023, we consecutively recruited 1085 patients without obstructive CAD according to the diagnostic and exclusion criteria. In total, SCFP was diagnosed in 70 patients. A 1:2 age-matched case-control study was then conducted using comparators without SCFP. Ultimately, this study enrolled 70 patients with angiographically normal coronary arteries and SCFP, along with 140 comparators with angiographically normal coronary arteries and normal coronary flow. Plasma fibrinogen and albumin levels were measured, and the PFAR was then calculated for each patient. RESULTS: PFARs were significantly greater in the SCFP group than in the comparators with normal coronary flow (82.8 ± 15.4 vs 73.1 ± 19.5, p < 0.001). PFAR increased with increasing numbers of vessels affected by SCFP. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that PFAR was an independent predictor of SCFP (odds ratio: 1.818, p = 0.015). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis indicated that PFAR showed a better predictive value of SCFP than fibrinogen or albumin, although not significantly (p > 0.05). CONCLUSION: PFAR is an independent predictor of SCFP in patients without obstructive CAD. PAFR could improve the predictive value of SFCP than albumin or fibrinogen alone, but not significantly.

Circulating tumor RNA (ctRNA) has recently emerged as a novel and attractive liquid biomarker. CtRNA is capable of providing important information about the expression of a variety of target genes noninvasively, without the need for biopsies, through the use of circulating RNA sequencing. The overexpression of cancer-specific transcripts increases the tumor-derived RNA signal, which overcomes limitations due to low quantities of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA). The purpose of this work is to present an up-to-date review of current knowledge regarding ctRNAs and their status as biomarkers to address the diagnosis, prognosis, prediction, and drug resistance of colorectal cancer. The final section of the article discusses the practical aspects involved in analyzing plasma ctRNA, including storage and isolation, detection technologies, and their limitations in clinical applications.

The ethanol precipitation process of Nauclea officinalis extract was optimized based on the concept of quality by design(QbD). Single factor tests were carried out to determine the levels of test factors. The ethanol volume fraction, pre-ethanol precipitation drug concentration, and ethanol precipitation time were taken as critical process parameters(CPPs). With the comprehensive scores of strictosamide transfer rate and solid removal rate as the critical quality attributes(CQAs), Box-Behnken design was employed to establish the mathematical models and space design between CPPs and CQAs, and the obtained optimal operating space was validated. The optimal operating space included ethanol volume fraction of 65%-70%, pre-ethanol precipitation drug concentration of 22-27 mg·mL~(-1), and ethanol precipitation time of 12 h. Based on the concept of QbD, this study adopted the design space to optimize the ethanol precipitation process of N. officinalis extract, which provided a reliable theoretical basis for the quality control in the production process of N. officinalis preparations. Moroever, this study provided a reference value for guiding the research and industrial production of traditional Chinese medicines.

Asymmetric induction of metal clusters by ligation of chiral ligands is intriguing in terms of the mechanism of chirality transfer and the stability of the resulting chiral structure. Here we report the asymmetric induction of C-centered hexagold(I) CAuI6 clusters into an asymmetrically twisted structure through monodentate, chiral benzimidazolylidene-based N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the NHC-ligated CAuI6 cluster was diastereoselectively twisted with directionally selective, bond length expansion, and contraction of the Au···Au contacts and that the original cluster with high symmetry was transformed into an optically pure, asymmetric CAuI6 cluster with C1 symmetry. Moreover, the circular dichroism spectroscopy and the time-dependent density functional theory calculation confirmed that the asymmetrically twisted CAuI6 structure was maintained even in solution. Such asymmetric induction of configurationally stable metal clusters would greatly expand the molecular design possibilities of asymmetric catalysts and chiroptical materials by utilizing library chiral NHC ligands.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the ability of conventional ultrasound (US) combined with shear wave elastography (SWE) to reveal axillary status after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in breast cancer patients. METHODS: From September 2016 to December 2021, 201 patients with node-positive breast cancer who underwent NAC were enrolled in this prospective study. Conventional US features of axillary lymph nodes and SWE characteristics of breast lesions after NAC were analyzed. The diagnostic performances of US, SWE, and their combination were assessed using multivariate logistic regression and receiver operator characteristic curve (ROC) analyses. RESULTS: The area under the ROC curve (AUC) for the ability of conventional US features to determine axillary status after NAC was 0.82, with a sensitivity of 85.23%, a specificity of 67.39%, and an accuracy of 76.11%. Shear wave velocity (SWV) displayed moderate performance for predicting axilla status after NAC with SWVmean demonstrating an AUC of 0.85. Cortical thickness and shape of axillary nodes and SWVmean of breast tumors were independently associated with axillary nodal metastasis after NAC. Compared to conventional US, the combination of conventional US of axillary lymph nodes with SWE of breast lesions achieved a significantly higher AUC (0.90 vs 0.82, p < 0.01, Delong's test) with a sensitivity of 87.50%, improved specificity of 82.61% and accuracy of 85.00%. CONCLUSIONS: Breast SWE was independently associated with residual metastasis of axillary node after NAC in patients with initially diagnosed positive axilla. Combining SWE with conventional US showed good diagnostic performance for axillary node disease after NAC. KEY POINTS: • Breast SWE can serve as a supplement to axilla US for the evaluation of the axilla after NAC. • The combination of axilla US with breast SWE may be a promising method to facilitate less-invasive treatment in patients receiving NAC.

OBJECTIVE: This study compared the performance between ultrasound (US)- and contrast-enhanced US (CEUS)-guided liver biopsies and evaluated the benefit of CEUS in percutaneous biopsy for focal liver lesions (FLLs). METHODS: We performed a retrospective study of 820 patients with FLLs, who underwent percutaneous liver biopsy in our center between 2017 and 2019. The patients were divided into two groups based on whether US (n = 362) or CEUS (n = 458) used before a biopsy. The two groups were compared based on specimen adequacy for pathological diagnosis and diagnostic accuracy of liver biopsy. Stratification analysis was performed based on lesion and protocol characteristics to provide detailed information for selecting the imaging guidance for biopsy. RESULTS: Compared with the US group, the CEUS group yielded more acceptable samples (97.6% vs. 99.4%, p < 0.05) and improved diagnostic accuracy (92.6% vs. 96.4%, p < 0.05), and achieved better sensitivity (92.5% vs. 96.2%, p < 0.05) for liver biopsies, especially in FLLs ≥ 5 cm, heterogeneous hypoechoic FLLs, or FLLs with an obscure boundary. The CEUS group showed significantly higher accuracy compared with the US group pertaining to single-puncture biopsies (100% vs. 92.7%, p < 0.05) or biopsies with punctures ≤ 2 (97.6% vs. 94.3%, p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: CEUS achieved an enhanced success rate for sampling and diagnostic accuracy of liver biopsies, especially in FLLs ≥ 5 cm, heterogeneous hypoechoic FLLs, or FLLs with an obscure boundary. CEUS can be used to decrease the number of punctures needed, which might increase the safety of liver biopsy. KEY POINTS: • CEUS can help confirm an adequate biopsy site, increasing the sampling success rate and diagnostic accuracy of the liver biopsy. • CEUS can be used to decrease the number of punctures needed to improve the safety of liver biopsy. • It is recommended to use CEUS guidance for liver biopsies, especially with FLLs ≥ 5 cm, heterogeneous hypoechoic FLLs, or FLLs with an obscure boundary.

BACKGROUND: With the increasing prevalence of gout and its etiological hyperuricemia, dietary control of gout based on low-purine food according to patients' eating habits is becoming a better choice compared to the existing drug treatment such as allopurinol with notorious side effects. Reconstructing the purine metabolic pathway in vitro to degrade purine substances in food into natural functional allantoin appears to be an innovative method for preparing nutritious and healthy food of low purine content. The present study reports a computer-assisted in vitro reconstruction of four purinolytic enzymes metabolizing adenosine into allantoin to reduce purine content in food for personalized dietary control of hyperuricemia and gout. RESULTS: Under the optimum reaction conditions of 40 °C and pH 7, 0.1 U of enzymes and 0.5 mmol L-1 adenosine determined by an orthogonal test design, 16 different enzyme complexes were experimentally tested. The tested enzyme composition and allantoin production values were used as input and output to build a three-layer back propagation artificial neural network (BP-ANN) model, which was further optimized by a genetic algorithm (GA). The optimum enzyme complex predicted by the GA-BP-ANN model produced 248.08±7.832 µmol L-1 allantoin, which was 19.9% higher than equimolar mixture of enzymes, and also more efficiently lowered purine contents in beer, as well as beef and yeast extracts. CONCLUSION: This is the first in vitro reconstitution of complete purine metabolic pathway by combining ANN and GA technologies, with successful application with respect to lowering the purine content in food, indicating a promising application of computer-assisted in vitro reconstitution of purinolytic pathway in low-purine food to prevent hyperuricemia and gout. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry.

PURPOSE: 6-Shogaol, an active phenolic compound from ginger (Zingiber officinale), can inhibit the growth of a variety of human cancer cells. Nevertheless, its underlying molecular mechanisms in cervical cancer remain unclear. In this study, we systematically examine the inhibitory effect of 6-shogaol on cervical cancer in vitro and in vivo. METHODS: Cell proliferation was assessed by CCK8 assay and colony formation assay in HeLa and SiHa cells. We analyzed cell cycle and apoptosis through flow cytometry. GFP-LC3 puncta and transmission electron microscopy were used to observe autophagic bodies. Wound-healing assay and transwell assay were used for evaluating the migration of cells. Western blot was applied to detect protein expression levels. RESULTS: 6-Shogaol could suppress cell proliferation and migration, cause cell cycle arrest in the G2/M phase in HeLa and SiHa cells. Moreover, 6-shogaol triggered the apoptosis process through the mitochondrial pathway by downregulating the expression levels of p-PI3K, p-Akt and p-mTOR. Further research indicated that the induction of apoptosis by 6-shogaol was remarkably decreased after the treatment of ROS scavenger and PI3K agonist. Additionally, 6-shogaol increased the number of LC3-positive puncta and autophagic bodies per cell in both HeLa and SiHa cells. Pretreatment of cells with Bafilomycin A1, an autophagy inhibitor, accelerated 6-shogaol mediated cell apoptosis, suggesting that induction of autophagy by 6-shogaol is suppressive to apoptosis. Furthermore, in vivo data revealed that 6-shogaol significantly inhibited tumor growth and cell proliferation in tumor tissues. CONCLUSION: These findings suggested that 6-shogaol could be developed as a functional food ingredient, which is potentially used as therapeutic agents for patients with cervical cancer.

Insect cuticular hydrocarbons (CHCs) are organic compounds of the surface lipid layer, which function as a barrier against water loss and xenobiotic penetration, while also serving as chemical signals. Plasticity of CHC profiles can vary depending upon numerous biological and environmental factors. Here, we investigated potential sources of variation in CHC profiles of Nilaparvata lugens, Laodelphax striatellus and Sogatella furcifera, which are considered to be the most important rice pests in Asia. CHC profiles were quantified by GC/MS, and factors associated with variations were explored by conducting principal component analysis (PCA). Transcriptomes were further compared under different environmental conditions. The results demonstrated that CHC profiles differ among three species and change with different developmental stages, sexes, temperature, humidity and host plants. Genes involved in cuticular lipid biosynthesis pathways are modulated, which might explain why CHC profiles vary among species under different environments. Our study illustrates some biological and ecological variations in modifying CHC profiles, and the underlying molecular regulation mechanisms of the planthoppers in coping with changes of environmental conditions, which is of great importance for identifying potential vulnerabilities relating to pest ecology and developing novel pest management strategies.
