BACKGROUND: Controlling the False Discovery Rate (FDR) in Multiple Comparison Procedures (MCPs) has widespread applications in many scientific fields. Previous studies show that the correlation structure between test statistics increases the variance and bias of FDR. The objective of this study is to modify the effect of correlation in MCPs based on the information theory. We proposed three modified procedures (M1, M2, and M3) under strong, moderate, and mild assumptions based on the conditional Fisher Information of the consecutive sorted test statistics for controlling the false discovery rate under arbitrary correlation structure. The performance of the proposed procedures was compared with the Benjamini-Hochberg (BH) and Benjamini-Yekutieli (BY) procedures in simulation study and real high-dimensional data of colorectal cancer gene expressions. In the simulation study, we generated 1000 differential multivariate Gaussian features with different levels of the correlation structure and screened the significance features by the FDR controlling procedures, with strong control on the Family Wise Error Rates. RESULTS: When there was no correlation between 1000 simulated features, the performance of the BH procedure was similar to the three proposed procedures. In low to medium correlation structures the BY procedure is too conservative. The BH procedure is too liberal, and the mean number of screened features was constant at the different levels of the correlation between features. The mean number of screened features by proposed procedures was between BY and BH procedures and reduced when the correlations increased. Where the features are highly correlated the number of screened features by proposed procedures reached the Bonferroni (BF) procedure, as expected. In real data analysis the BY, BH, M1, M2, and M3 procedures were done to screen gene expressions of colorectal cancer. To fit a predictive model based on the screened features the Efficient Bayesian Logistic Regression (EBLR) model was used. The fitted EBLR models based on the screened features by M1 and M2 procedures have minimum entropies and are more efficient than BY and BH procedures. CONCLUSION: The modified proposed procedures based on information theory, are much more flexible than BH and BY procedures for the amount of correlation between test statistics. The modified procedures avoided screening the non-informative features and so the number of screened features reduced with the increase in the level of correlation.

BACKGROUND: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) imposes a huge burden on the healthcare systems and greatly declines the patient's quality of life. However, there is a paucity of detailed data regarding information and supportive needs as well as sources and methods of obtaining information to control different aspects of the disease from the perspectives of the patients themselves. This study aimed to establish the IBD patients' preferences of informational and supportive needs through Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). METHODS: IBD patients were recruited from different centers. Considering inclusion and exclusion criteria, 521 participants were filled a predefined questionnaire. This questionnaire was prepared through literature review of the recent well-known guidelines on the needs of IBD patients, which was further approved by the experts of IBD area in three rounds of Delphi consensus. It includes 56 items in four sections of informational needs (25), supportive needs (15), sources of information (7), and methods of obtaining information (9). RESULTS: In particular, EFA was used to apply data reduction and structure detection. Given that this study tries to identify patterns, structures as well as inter-relationships and classification of the variables, EFA was utilized to simplify presentation of the variables in a way that large amounts of observations transform into fewer ones. Accordingly, the EFA identified five factors out of 25 items in the information needs section, three factors out of 15 items in the supportive needs section, two factors out of 7 items in the information sources section, and two factors out of 9 items in the information presentation methods. Through the CFA, all 4 models were supported by Root Mean Squared Error of Approximation (RMSEA); Incremental Fit Index (IFI); Comparative Fit Index (CFI); Tucker-Lewis Index (TLI); and SRMR. These values were within acceptable ranges, indicating that the twelve factors achieved from EFA were validated. CONCLUSIONS: This study introduced a reliable 12-factor model as an efficient tool to comprehensively identify preferences of IBD patients in informational and supportive needs along with sources and methods of obtaining information. An in-depth understanding of the needs of IBD patients facilitates informing and supporting health service provision. It also assists patients in a fundamental way to improve adaptation and increase the quality of life. We suggest that health care providers consider the use of this tool in clinical settings in order to precisely assess its efficacy.

PURPOSE: To develop and evaluate an intervention tailored to patients' needs to increase the rate of positive airway pressure (PAP) adherence in patients afflicted with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), who undergo PAP therapy. METHODS: A multi-center, 3 parallel-arm, randomized, controlled trial was conducted. Participants with OSA who undergo a PAP therapy were randomized to one of three groups: control arm (usual care), educational booklet arm, and mobile-based application arm. PAP usage, the percentage of days using the device for more than 4 h, change in knowledge, risk perception, outcome expectancy, self-efficacy, and ESS were assessed before and one month after interventions in the three groups. Also, the application usage data were analyzed. RESULTS: The result showed the change in average PAP usage, knowledge, risk perception, and self-efficacy in the application group was significantly higher than the control and booklet groups. Also, the change in use for more than 4 h in the application group was significantly higher than the control group. Comparing the actual and patients' self-report PAP use indicated patients' self-report about the use of the device is about 50 min (0.8 h) more than the actual amount of use. CONCLUSION: The study results indicated that the improvement of primary and secondary outcomes in adherence to PAP was significantly higher in the application group than in other study groups. Given the increasingly penetrating influence of smartphone-based technologies, it seems that mobile-based applications could potentially be adopted in the population of patients with OSA. BACKGROUND: The pharmaceutical industry is continually striving to innovate drug development and formulation processes. Orally disintegrating tablets (ODTs) have gained popularity due to their quick release and patient-friendly characteristics. The choice of excipients in tablet formulations plays a critical role in ensuring product quality, highlighting its importance in tablet creation. The traditional trial-and-error approach to this process is both expensive and time-intensive. To tackle these obstacles, we introduce a fresh approach leveraging machine learning and deep learning methods to automate and enhance pre-formulation drug design. METHODS: We collected a comprehensive dataset of 1983 formulations, including excipient names, quantities, active ingredient details, and various physicochemical attributes. Our study focused on predicting two critical control test parameters: tablet disintegration time and hardness. We compared a range of models like deep learning, artificial neural networks, support vector machines, decision trees, multiple linear regression, and random forests. RESULTS: A 12-layer deep neural network, as a form of deep learning, surpassed alternative techniques by achieving 73% accuracy for disintegration time and 99% for tablet hardness. This success underscores its efficacy in predicting complex pharmaceutical factors. Such an approach streamlines the drug formulation process, reducing iterations and material consumption. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings highlight the deep learning potential in pharmaceutical formulations, particularly for tablet hardness prediction. Future work should focus on enlarging the dataset to improve model effectiveness and extend its application in pharmaceutical product development and assessment.

BACKGROUND: Implementing workplace preventive interventions reduces occupational accidents and injuries, as well as the negative consequences of those accidents and injuries. Online occupational safety and health training is one of the most effective preventive interventions. This study aims to present current knowledge on e-training interventions, make recommendations on the flexibility, accessibility, and cost-effectiveness of online training, and identify research gaps and obstacles. METHOD: All studies that addressed occupational safety and health e-training interventions designed to address worker injuries, accidents, and diseases were chosen from PubMed and Scopus until 2021. Two independent reviewers conducted the screening process for titles, abstracts, and full texts, and disagreements on the inclusion or exclusion of an article were resolved by consensus and, if necessary, by a third reviewer. The included articles were analyzed and synthesized using the constant comparative analysis method. RESULT: The search identified 7,497 articles and 7,325 unique records. Following the title, abstract, and full-text screening, 25 studies met the review criteria. Of the 25 studies, 23 were conducted in developed and two in developing countries. The interventions were carried out on either the mobile platform, the website platform, or both. The study designs and the number of outcomes of the interventions varied significantly (multi-outcomes vs. single-outcome). Obesity, hypertension, neck/shoulder pain, office ergonomics issues, sedentary behaviors, heart disease, physical inactivity, dairy farm injuries, nutrition, respiratory problems, and diabetes were all addressed in the articles. CONCLUSION: According to the findings of this literature study, e-trainings can significantly improve occupational safety and health. E-training is adaptable, affordable, and can increase workers' knowledge and abilities, resulting in fewer workplace injuries and accidents. Furthermore, e-training platforms can assist businesses in tracking employee development and ensuring that training needs are completed. Overall, this analysis reveals that e-training has enormous promise in the field of occupational safety and health for both businesses and employees.

Propolis has gained popularity in recent years because of its beneficial properties, which make it a possible preventative and therapeutic agent as well as a valuable food and cosmetic ingredient. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of propolis supplementation on cardiovascular risk factors in women with rheumatoid arthritis. This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial was performed among 48 patients diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. Subjects were randomly assigned to placebo and intervention groups, supplemented with 1000 mg/day of propolis for 12 weeks. Cardiovascular risk factors including, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), monocyte chemoattractant protein (MCP-1), Nitric oxide, blood pressure, and lipid profile were assessed pre-and post-intervention. The atherogenic index of plasma value, as well as total cholesterol/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), triglyceride/HDL-C, and non-HDL-C/HDL-C ratios, were significantly reduced in the intervention group, compared with the placebo group post-intervention (p < 0.05). Moreover, there was a significant reduction in the serum level of hs-CRP in the intervention group when compared with the placebo group (p = 0.001). Furthermore, propolis supplementation could marginally reduce MCP-1 (p = 0.051). These data indicate that propolis supplementation may be a promising treatment strategy for cardiovascular complications among rheumatoid arthritis patients.

BACKGROUND: Understanding the hospital EHR success rate has great benefits for hospitals. The present study aimed to 1-Propose an extended-ISSM framework and a questionnaire in a systematic manner for EHR evaluation based on nurses' perspectives, 2-Determine the EHR success rate, and 3-Explore the effective factors contributing to EHR success. METHODS: The proposed framework was developed using ISSM, TAM3, TTF, HOT-FIT, and literature review in seven steps. A self-administrated structured 65-items questionnaire was developed with CVI: 90.27% and CVR: 94.34%. Construct validity was conducted using EFA and CFA. Eleven factors were identified, collectively accounting for 71.4% of the total variance. In the EFA step, 15 questions and two questions in EFA were excluded. Finally, 48 items remained in the framework including dimensions of technology, human, organization, ease of use, usefulness, and net benefits. The overall Cronbach's alpha value was 93.4%. In addition, the hospital EHR success rate was determined and categorized. In addition, effective factors on EHR success were explored. RESULTS: In total, 86 nurses participated in the study. On average, the "total hospital EHR success rate" was moderate. The total EHR success rates was ranging from 47.09 to 74.96%. The results of the Kruskal-Wallis test showed that there was a significant relationship between "gender" and "self-efficacy" (p-value: 0.042). A reverse relation between "years of experience using computers" and "training" (p-value: 0.012) was observed. "Years of experience using EHR" as well as "education level" (p-value: 0.001) and "ease of use" had a reverse relationship (p-value: 0.034). CONCLUSIONS: Our findings underscore the EHR success based on nurses' viewpoint in a developing country. Our results provide an instrument for comparison of EHR success rates in various hospitals.

PURPOSE: Although the effectiveness of using text messages in home-based rehabilitation programs has been investigated, its ability to engage patients in home rehabilitation exercises and, as a result, improve hand outcomes, specifically in patients with flexor tendon injuries, has not been evaluated. The aim of this study was to determine whether the addition of a text message-based intervention to usual care is effective in improving hand outcomes in patients with flexor tendon injuries after repair. METHODS: In this 2-arm parallel randomized controlled trial, 40 patients were randomly assigned to either the intervention group (usual care plus the support program) or the control group (usual care only). Intervention included an automated package of instructional text messages containing links to a secure website for instructional rehabilitation videos delivered over 12 weeks. The Quick Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand and visual analog scale for pain scores were assessed at 6 and 12 weeks. Physician-reported grip strength and total active motion were assessed after 12 weeks. RESULTS: The study was completed by 90% (36 of 40) of the patients who were enrolled. There were statistically significant differences between the 2 groups with respect to Quick Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand and visual analog scale scores at the 6-week and 12-week assessments. In addition, there were statistically significant differences between the 2 groups with respect to total active motion and grip strength at 12 weeks. Finally, a high level of satisfaction with the intervention was reported. CONCLUSIONS: The text message-based program was associated with improved outcomes over the first 12 weeks after flexor tendon repair. TYPE OF STUDY/LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Therapeutic II.

Hospital ward environments contain various types of microorganisms, in which fungal agents are one of the main contaminants that may cause hospital-acquired infections. Regarding this, the aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of nanosilver paint on reducing fungal contaminants of indoor air in an educational, research, and treatment center. Two rooms in the hematology ward were selected. One room was painted using usual paint (control room) and the other room was painted with paint containing nanosilver particles (experimental room). One hundred and twelve samples were collected using active (Anderson BioSampler) and passive (settle plate or open plate) air sampling techniques. The samples were incubated for 3-7 days at 35°C, and the positive fungal cultures were examined according to morphological and microscopic characteristics. Following active sampling, the mean and standard deviation of the number of colony-forming units (CFU/m3) of fungi colonies in the experimental and control rooms were 29.21 ± 17.99 and 22.50 ± 10.02 before intervention and 13.79 ± 6.20 and 31.07 ± 21.1 after intervention, respectively. Following passive sampling, the number of CFU/plate in the experimental and control rooms was 6 and 0 before and 1and 1 after intervention, respectively. The use of the nanosilver paint was effective in reducing air fungal contamination. Moreover, the active sampling method was more sensitive to measuring the concentration changes for fungal bioaerosols.

We evaluated the effect of insulin resistance and free androgen index (FAI) in non-PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) infertile women following controlled ovarian hyperstimulation. A prospective study was done on 144 infertile non-PCOS women with regular menstrual cycle. At first, insulin resistance (IR), free androgen index (FAI), PCOM (polycystic ovary morphology), AFC (antral follicle count), and AMH (anti-Müllerian hormone) were assessed. The patients underwent assisted reproductive technology (ART), and then preovulatory follicles and oocytes retrieved were recorded. The variables of the study were compared between two groups of patients with ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) (n=66) and non-OHSS patients (n=78). Of the 9 variables: BMI, HOMA-IR, FAI, AFC, AMH, PCOM, and preovulatory follicles were risk factors, while the age and retrieved oocytes were not. The 7 variables that showed significance in the univariate analyses were determined as independent variables included in the multivariable logistic regression analysis, as a result, a total of 5 risk factors, BMI, HOMA-IR, FAI, PCOM, and preovulatory follicles entered the equation. The maximum contribution was HOMA-IR followed by PCOM, FAI, preovulatory follicles and BMI. Patients with OHSS had higher chance to have ovaries with polycystic morphology (74%), about three times more than patients who did not develop OHSS (29%) (p<0.001). The best cut-points for IR, FAI, AFC, AMH, and preovulatry follicles were 2.36, 3.9, 8, 3.3 ng/ml, and 10, respectively. Patients with a higher value of BMI, FAI, HOMA-IR, and preovulatory follicles and the presence of PCOM are more likely to develop OHSS, which are not confined to PCOS patients.

BACKGROUND: Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is the gold standard therapy for treating obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) disorder. However, patients' adherence to its regular use is poor. The present study aimed to determine the adherence rate to CPAP therapy by identifying factors affecting its regular use and its associated problems and discomforts among a sample population in Mashhad (Iran). METHODS: The study was conducted from October 2017 to March 2018 in Mashhad (Iran) using both quantitative and qualitative methods. The quantitative study was carried out using a retrospective cross-sectional data collection from five sleep clinics and one CPAP sales office. The patients were classified into an adherent and a non-adherent group to determine the factors affecting CPAP adherence. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS software (version 22.0). Additionally, a prospective qualitative study was performed through a series of telephone interviews using the content analysis method. Qualitative data were analyzed using MAXQDA 10 software. RESULTS: In the quantitative study, the medical records of 159 patients were used, out of which 79 (49.6%) were non-adherent to CPAP therapy. The mean age of all patients was 56.9±9.8 years. The mean body mass index, apnea-hypopnea index, and Epworth sleepiness scale (ESS) scores were 30.9±6.6 kg/m2, 37.2±28.1 events/hour, and 10.4±5.5, respectively. At baseline, the adherent group had a significantly higher age (P=0.006), higher oxygen desaturation index (P=0.006), and lower ESS (P=0.023) compared to the non-adherent group. In the qualitative study, a total of 29 telephone interviews were held with patients from the non-adherent group (8 women and 21 men). Analysis of the interviews resulted in three main categories (level of knowledge, discomfort, and costs) and nine sub-categories. CONCLUSION: A high percentage of OSA patients had poor adherence to CPAP therapy. Device-related issues could be adequately resolved by providing complementary information during follow-up visits. Moreover, efforts to reduce costs through comprehensive insurance coverage or with government subsidy would improve patients' adherence to CPAP therapy.

BACKGROUND: In end-stage renal disease (ESRD) kidneys stop functioning effectively, and transplantation is considered as the best therapeutic intervention. Because of the increasing number of ESRD patients and the limited number of organ donors, identification of the right candidates for kidney transplantation on the waiting lists is of great importance. AIM: The purpose of the present study is to identify the factors affecting the prioritization of transplantation candidates based on the advice of a number of board-certified, local nephrologists. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This cross-sectional study was conducted in 2017 based on the Standard for Reporting Qualitative Research (SRQR) protocol. In the first phase, 15 nephrology specialists were interviewed to collect their viewpoints, and results were analyzed based on the tagging framework. Then, a collection of the resulting factors were compiled into a checklist and validated using a Delphi method by 11 specialists. Eventually, final factors were selected using a weighting method followed by a practicality checking step. Weighting of factors was done by the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) technique and Expert Choice 11.0 was used to analyze the weightings. RESULTS: After removing duplicates, 35 factors were extracted. Finally, using a Delphi study and the weighting method and a subsequent practicality checking step, 12 factors were identified. Age, body mass index, time on dialysis, history of kidney transplantation, and 8 other factors were among the final identified factors. The factor with the highest weight was simultaneous disease. CONCLUSION: Given the long waiting lists for kidney transplantation and the limited number of donated kidneys, selecting the candidate with highest priority is vital. Altogether, using these factors in the candidate identification process results in selecting the most suitable candidate for kidney transplantation; this may consequently increase the patient and graft survival rate.

Online appointment scheduling systems have been designed in response to the problems of the traditional ones. In Iran, most outpatient clinics and our study population suffer from high patient' no-show rate and long waiting times because of not using online appointment scheduling system. In this study, the effect of an online appointment scheduling system was investigated by comparing the evaluation metrics of appointment scheduling before and after the intervention. This before-after pilot study was conducted on ten outpatient clinics with different specializations. Five clinics were selected as the intervention group and five clinics as the control group. A checklist was designed to evaluate appointment scheduling metrics. These checklists were completed from April to July 2017 in the pre-implementation phase and from September to December 2017 in the post-implementation phase. The evaluation metrics were evaluated before and after the implementation of the online appointment scheduling system. A total of 470 checklists containing 9034 patients' information and 460 checklists containing 9130 patients' information were completed at the pre- and post-implementation phases, respectively. There were significant positive effect on the improvement of the three metrics means, including Patient waiting time (38.2 min before vs. 23.8 min after the intervention), No-show rate (25% before vs. 11% after the intervention), and Physician punctuality (-30 min before vs. -14.2 min after the intervention). The use of an online appointment scheduling system was successful in improving several evaluation metrics in our target population and resulted in continued usage in intervention group clinics.

This study was designed to investigate and compare the effect of face-to-face with telephone-based counseling on sexual satisfaction in women of reproductive age in Iran. This study was a randomized controlled trial in which 46 married women who got married 1-5 years ago were randomly selected and assigned to 1 of 2 groups (face-to-face and telephone-based counseling). Two groups received counseling by a trained midwife once a week for 4 weeks. The sexual satisfaction (using the Sexual Satisfaction Index) score was calculated in the beginning of the study and after 4 weeks. An independent t test, chi-square test, likelihood ratio test, Fisher's exact test, and linear-by-linear test were used for analyzing data. The mean score of sexual satisfaction in the face-to-face group was 93.6 (SD = 7.1) and improved significantly to 108.08 (SD = 5.44) after intervention (p =.001). The mean score of sexual satisfaction in the telephone-based counseling was 93.52 (SD = 5) and increased to 113 (SD = 6.07) after 4 weeks (p =.001). Telephone-based counseling could increase the sexual satisfaction better than face-to-face counseling (mean difference: 20.34 [SD = 7.38] vs. 14.47 [SD = 5.32], p =.003). The telephone-based counseling is an effective and affordable method to solve the sexual problems and could increase the sexual satisfaction. Using this method in public health centers is recommended.

BACKGROUND: The choice of an appropriate similarity measure plays a pivotal role in the effectiveness of clustering algorithms. However, many conventional measures rely solely on feature values to evaluate the similarity between objects to be clustered. Furthermore, the assumption of feature independence, while valid in certain scenarios, does not hold true for all real-world problems. Hence, considering alternative similarity measures that account for inter-dependencies among features can enhance the effectiveness of clustering in various applications. METHODS: In this paper, we present the Inv measure, a novel similarity measure founded on the concept of inversion. The Inv measure considers the significance of features, the values of all object features, and the feature values of other objects, leading to a comprehensive and precise evaluation of similarity. To assess the performance of our proposed clustering approach that incorporates the Inv measure, we evaluate it on simulated data using the adjusted Rand index. RESULTS: The simulation results strongly indicate that inversion-based clustering outperforms other methods in scenarios where clusters are complex, i.e., apparently highly overlapped. This showcases the practicality and effectiveness of the proposed approach, making it a valuable choice for applications that involve complex clusters across various domains. CONCLUSIONS: The inversion-based clustering approach may hold significant value in the healthcare industry, offering possible benefits in tasks like hospital ranking, treatment improvement, and high-risk patient identification. In social media analysis, it may prove valuable for trend detection, sentiment analysis, and user profiling. E-commerce may be able to utilize the approach for product recommendation and customer segmentation. The manufacturing sector may benefit from improved quality control, process optimization, and predictive maintenance. Additionally, the approach may be applied to traffic management and fleet optimization in the transportation domain. Its versatility and effectiveness make it a promising solution for diverse fields, providing valuable insights and optimization opportunities for complex and dynamic data analysis tasks.

This study aimed to assess the prevalence of obsessive-compulsive symptoms (OCS) among medical students during COVID-19 pandemic and to evaluate their association with related sociodemographic features and other psychological symptoms. In this cross-sectional study, students from Mashhad University of Medical Sciences with no major exam in the preceding or following month were surveyed during April to August 2021 through stratified available sampling. Data were collected by a structured online questionnaire distributed through social media platforms. OCS were assessed using Obsessive-Compulsive Inventory-Revised (OCI-R) and COVID-related stress was evaluated using COVID Stress Scale (CSS). Overall, 347 students with a mean age of 22.67 ±â€…2.56 years were included in this study, of whom 30.3% had probable obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD; OCI-R score ≥21). Mean CSS scores in students with and without probable OCD were 38.64 ±â€…19.82 and 26.72 ±â€…16.63, respectively ( P  < 0.005). Total CSS score was significantly correlated with OCI-R score ( r  = 0.38, P  = 0.001). Around one-third of the medical students reported significant OCS during COVID-19 pandemic, which was associated with higher COVID-19-related stress. Further research provides insight into management of OCD and related disorders during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Background and Aims: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic inflammatory gastrointestinal tract disease subdivided into Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC). There is currently no cure for IBD, and individuals with IBD frequently experience a lower health-related quality of life (HRQOL) than the general population. Gamification has become an increasingly popular topic in recent years. Adapting game design concepts to nongaming contexts represents a novel and potential approach to changing user engagement. This study will be conducted with the aim of evaluating the effect of a gamified mobile-based self-management application on disease activity index, quality of life, and mental health in adults with IBD. Methods: A multicenter, parallel, two-arm, exploratory randomized controlled trial with a 6-month follow-up per patient will be designed to compare the impact of the gamified mobile-based tele-management system on primary and secondary health outcomes and outpatient visits in 210 patients with all types of IBD which are divided equally into a control group with standard care and an intervention group which will use the developed mobile application named MY IBD BUDDY. All patients will attend study visits at baseline, 12 and 24 weeks, and routine IBD clinic visits or telephone consultations based on randomization group assignment. Disease activity or disease activity index, mental health (anxiety and depression) symptoms, quality of life, self-efficacy, and IBD-specific knowledge will be measured at baseline with two follow-ups at 12 and 24 weeks. Conclusions: In sum, the outcomes of our trial will demonstrate the impact of the gamified mobile-based self-management system on disease activity, quality of life, and anxiety and depression by means of interactive care and patient empowerment. Background: Patients' missed appointments can cause interference in the functions of the clinics and the visit of other patients. One of the most effective strategies to solve the problem of no-show rate is the use of an open access scheduling system (OA). This systematic review was conducted with the aim of investigating the impact of OA on the rate of no-show of patients in outpatient clinics. Methods: Relevant articles in English were investigated based on the keywords in title and abstract using PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases and Google Scholar search engine (July 23, 2023). The articles using OA and reporting the no-show rate were included. Exclusion criteria were as follows: (1) review articles, opinion, and letters, (2) inpatient scheduling system articles, and (3) modeling or simulating OA articles. Data were extracted from the selected articles about such issues as study design, outcome measures, interventions, results, and quality score. Findings: From a total of 23,403 studies, 16 articles were selected. The specialized fields included family medicine (62.5%, 10), pediatrics (25%, four), ophthalmology, podiatric, geriatrics, internal medicine, and primary care (6.25%, one). Of 16 articles, 10 papers (62.5%) showed a significant decrease in the no-show rate. In four articles (25%), the no-show rate was not significantly reduced. In two papers (12.5%), there were no significant changes. Conclusions: According to this study results, it seems that in most outpatient clinics, the use of OA by considering some conditions such as conducting needs assessment and system design based on the patients' and providers' actual needs, and cooperating of all system stakeholders through consistent training caused a significant decrease in the no-show rate.

TRIAL DESIGN: This study is a pilot randomized clinical trial aimed to investigate the effect of using Hip Exoskeleton Assistive (HEXA) robot compared to conventional physiotherapy on the quality of walking, disability, and quality of life of stroke patients with hemiplegia. METHODS: In this study, 24 patients were randomly assigned to the intervention group (robotic physiotherapy with HEXA robot), or control group (conventional physiotherapy). In each session, both groups received 30 min of conventional physiotherapy including electrotherapy and conventional exercises, and then the intervention group did gait training for 30 min with the HEXA robot and the control group for 30 min without the HEXA robot. The treatment program was 12 sessions, 3 times a week. Before the 1st and after the 12th sessions, both groups were evaluated for walking quality, disability, and quality of life. RESULTS: The results showed that the main effect of time was significant (P < 0.05) in all outcomes and patients in both groups achieved significant improvement in all outcomes after the intervention. The main effect of the group was also significant in the outcomes of 6MWT (P < 0.05) and TUG (P < 0.05), and the intervention group patients experienced more distance and speed in these two tests. This study was approved by the ethics committee of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences (IR.MUMS.FHMPM.REC.1400.079 dated 28th Jan 2022). The trial was registered with the clinical trials site of www.IRCT.ir (IRCT20210730052024N1) on January 28th 2022. CONCLUSION: It seems that the HEXA robot can effectively improve walking capacity and speed.
