Island populations often experience different ecological and demographic conditions than their counterparts on the continent, resulting in divergent evolutionary forces affecting their genomes. Random genetic drift and selection both may leave their imprints on island populations, although the relative impact depends strongly on the specific conditions. Here we address their contributions to the island syndrome in a rodent with an unusually clear history of isolation. Common voles (Microtus arvalis) were introduced by humans on the Orkney archipelago north of Scotland >5000 years ago and rapidly evolved to exceptionally large size. Our analyses show that the genomes of Orkney voles were dominated by genetic drift, with extremely low diversity, variable Tajima's D, and very high divergence from continental conspecifics. Increased d N/d S ratios over a wide range of genes in Orkney voles indicated genome-wide relaxation of purifying selection. We found evidence of hard sweeps on key genes of the lipid metabolism pathway only in continental voles. The marked increase of body size in Orkney-a typical phenomenon of the island syndrome-may thus be associated to the relaxation of positive selection on genes related to this pathway. On the other hand, a hard sweep on immune genes of Orkney voles likely reflects the divergent ecological conditions and possibly the history of human introduction. The long-term isolated Orkney voles show that adaptive changes may still impact the evolutionary trajectories of such populations despite the pervasive consequences of genetic drift at the genome level.

Idiopathic granulomatous mastitis (IGM), a recurrent inflammation disease of the non-lactating breast, has had an increasing clinical morbidity rate in recent years, and its complicated symptoms and unclear etiology make it challenging to treat. This rare benign inflammatory breast disease, centered on the lobules, represents the most challenging type of non-puerperal mastitis (NPM), also known as non-lactating mastitis. In this study, patients diagnosed with IGM (M, n = 23) were recruited as cases, and patients with benign control breast disease (C, n = 17) were enrolled as controls. Cytokine microarray detection measured and analyzed the differentially expressed cytokine factors between IGM and control patients. Then, we verified the mRNA and protein expression levels of the significantly changed cytokine factors using Q-RT-PCR, ELISA, western blot, and IHC experiments. The cytokine factor expression levels significantly changed compared to the control group. We observed a significant increase between IGM and control patients in cytokine factors expression, such as interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß), monokine induced by gamma interferon (MIG), macrophage inflammatory protein (MIP)-1α, MIP-1ß, tumor necrosis factor receptor 2 (TNF RII). Then, we verified the expression of these top five dysregulated factors in both mRNA and protein levels. Our results demonstrated the cytokine map in IGM and indicated that several cytokines, especially chemokines, were associated with and significantly dysregulated in IGM tissues compared to the control group. The chemokine factors involved might be essential in developing and treating IGM. These findings would be helpful for a better understanding of IGM and offer valuable insights for devising novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.

GCN2-eIF2α signaling pathway plays crucial roles in cell growth,development, and protein synthesis. However, in polyploid fish, the function of this pathway is rarely understood. In this study, genes associated with the GCN2-eIF2α pathway (pkr, pek, gcn2, eif2α) are founded lower expression levels in the triploid crucian carp (3nCC) muscle compared to that of the red crucian carp (RCC). In muscle effect stage embryos of the 3nCC, the mRNA levels of this pathway genes are generally lower than those of RCC, excluding hri and fgf21. Inhibiting gcn2 in 3nCC embryos downregulates downstream gene expression (eif2α, atf4, fgf21), accelerating embryonic development. In contrast, overexpressing of eif2α can alter the expression levels of downstream genes (atf4 and fgf21), and decelerates the embryonic development. These results demonstrate the GCN2-eIF2α pathway's regulatory impact on 3nCC growth, advancing understanding of fish rapid growth genetics and offering useful molecular markers for breeding of excellent strains.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore the association between kidney function and the risk of relapse as well as prognosis in patients with aquaporin-4 (AQP4)-immunoglobulin G (IgG)-seropositive neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD). METHODS: We focused on patients experiencing their first onset of AQP4-IgG-seropositive NMOSD. Data on demographics, disease characteristics, and kidney function were collected, with the primary assessment utilizing the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). Associations between eGFR and relapse risk were examined using multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression models. Additionally, logistic regression models were employed to evaluate the impact of eGFR on clinical prognosis. RESULTS: Our analysis revealed glomerular hyperfiltration and impaired urine concentrating ability in patients with AQP4-IgG-seropositive NMOSD. Multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression demonstrated a positive correlation between eGFR and the risk of relapse. Logistic regression analysis further identified higher eGFR as an independent predictor of disease relapse and prognosis in AQP4-IgG-seropositive NMOSD patients. CONCLUSIONS: The eGFR of patients with AQP4-IgG-seropositive NMOSD emerges as a potential diagnostic biomarker for this condition, indicating its significance in predicting both relapse risk and clinical prognosis.

There is some evidence that seed traits can affect the long-term persistence of seeds in the soil. However, findings on this topic have differed between systems. Here, we brought together a worldwide database of seed persistence data for 1474 species to test the generality of seed mass-shape-persistence relationships. We found a significant trend for low seed persistence to be associated with larger and less spherical seeds. However, the relationship varied across different clades, growth forms and species ecological preferences. Specifically, relationships of seed mass-shape-persistence were more pronounced in Poales than in other order clades. Herbaceous species that tend to be found in sites with low soil sand content and precipitation have stronger relationships between seed shape and persistence than in sites with higher soil sand content and precipitation. For the woody plants, the relationship between persistence and seed morphology was stronger in sites with high soil sand content and low precipitation than in sites with low soil sand content and higher precipitation. Improving the ability to predict the soil seed bank formation process, including burial and persistence, could benefit the utilization of seed morphology-persistence relationships in management strategies for vegetation restoration and controlling species invasion across diverse vegetation types and environments.

Carbon dots@noble metal nanoparticle composites are formed by combining carbon dots and metal nanoparticles using various strategies. Carbon dots exhibit a reducing ability and function as stabilisers; consequently, metal-ion solutions can be directly reduced by them to synthesise gold, silver, and gold-silver alloy particles. Carbon dots@gold/silver/gold-silver particle composites have demonstrated the potential for several practical applications owing to their superior properties and simple preparation process. Until now, several review articles have been published to summarise fluorescent carbon dots or noble metal nanomaterials. Compared with metal-free carbon dots, carbon dots@noble metal nanoparticles have a unique morphology and structure, resulting in new physicochemical properties, which allow for sensing, bioimaging, and bacteriostasis applications. Therefore, to promote the effective development of carbon dots@noble metal nanoparticle composites, this paper primarily reviews carbon dots@gold/silver/gold-silver alloy nanoparticle composites for the first time in terms of the following aspects. (1) The synthesis strategies of carbon dots@noble metal nanoparticle composites are outlined. The principle and function of carbon dots in the synthesis strategies are examined. The advantages and disadvantages of these methods and composites are analysed. (2) The characteristics and properties of such composites are described. (3) The applications of these composite materials are summarised. Finally, the potentials and limitations of carbon dots@noble metal nanoparticle composites are discussed, thus laying the foundation for their further development.

Considering that avian leukosis virus (ALV) infection has inflicted massive economic losses on the poultry breeding industry in most countries, its early diagnosis remains an important measure for timely treatment and control of the disease, for which a rapid and sensitive point-of-care test is required. We established a user-friendly, economical, and rapid visualization method for ALV amplification products based on reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification (RT-LAMP) combined with an immunochromatographic strip in a lateral flow device (LFD). Using the ALVp27 gene as the target, five RT-LAMP primers and one fluorescein-isothiocyanate-labeled probe were designed. After 60 min of RT-LAMP amplification at 64 °C, the products could be visualized directly using the LFD. The detection limit of this assay for ALV detection was 102 RNA copies/µL, and the sensitivity was 100 times that of reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), showing high specificity and sensitivity. To verify the clinical practicality of this assay for detecting ALV, the gold standard RT-PCR method was used for comparison, and consistent results were obtained with both assays. Thus, the assay described here can be used for rapid detection of ALV in resource-limited environments.

Dissipative behavior and final residue levels of difenoconazole, prochloraz, propiconazole, and pyraclostrobin in figs were investigated using field trials and laboratory assays. A three-factor, three-level orthogonal test was designed to optimize the pretreatment conditions of the method. A method was established using high-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry for the determination of difenoconazole, prochloraz, propiconazole, and pyraclostrobin residues in figs. The limit of quantification for all four targets in figs was 0.002 mg/kg. Difenoconazole, prochloraz, propiconazole, and pyraclostrobin are readily digestible pesticides in figs with half-lives of 6.4, 6.2, 4.8, and 7.9 days, respectively. Residues of difenoconazole, prochloraz, propiconazole, and pyraclostrobin in figs were below the European Union established residue levels of 0.1, 0.03, 0.01, and 0.02 mg/kg, respectively, at day 7 after application. Pyraclostrobin, propiconazole, difenoconazole, and prochloraz were applied twice at doses of 75, 125, 150, and 200 mg a.i./kg at 7-day intervals, and the residues of the four fungicides in figs were acceptable 7 days after the last application. Therefore, the safety interval can be set at 7 days for 70% difenoconazole-prochloraz wettable powder and 40% pyraclostrobin-propiconazole aqueous emulsion according to the protocol.

Vascular dementia (VaD) is a prevalent form of dementia stemming from cerebrovascular disease, manifesting in memory impairment and executive dysfunction, thereby imposing a substantial societal burden. Unfortunately, no drugs have been approved for the treatment of VaD due to its intricate pathogenesis, and the development of innovative and efficacious medications is urgently needed. Apoptosis, a programmed cell death process crucial for eliminating damaged or unwanted cells within an organism, assumes pivotal roles in embryonic development and tissue homeostasis maintenance. An increasing body of evidence indicates that apoptosis may significantly influence the onset and progression of VaD, and numerous natural compounds have demonstrated significant therapeutic potential. Here, we discuss the molecular mechanisms underlying apoptosis and its correlation with VaD. We also provide a crucial reference for developing innovative pharmaceuticals by systematically reviewing the latest research progress concerning the neuroprotective effects of natural compounds on VaD by regulating apoptosis. Further high-quality clinical studies are imperative to firmly ascertain these natural compounds' clinical efficacy and safety profiles in the treatment of VaD.

Defect engineering of van der Waals semiconductors has been demonstrated as an effective approach to manipulate the structural and functional characteristics toward dynamic device controls, yet correlations between physical properties with defect evolution remain underexplored. Using proton irradiation, we observe an enhanced exciton-to-trion conversion of the atomically thin WS2. The altered excitonic states are closely correlated with nanopore induced atomic displacement, W nanoclusters, and zigzag edge terminations, verified by scanning transmission electron microscopy, photoluminescence, and Raman spectroscopy. Density functional theory calculation suggests that nanopores facilitate formation of in-gap states that act as sinks for free electrons to couple with excitons. The ion energy loss simulation predicts a dominating electron ionization effect upon proton irradiation, providing further evidence on band perturbations and nanopore formation without destroying the overall crystallinity. This study provides a route in tuning the excitonic properties of van der Waals semiconductors using an irradiation-based defect engineering approach.

Central nervous system(CNS) disorders can significantly impact patients' daily lives, impairing their ability to work and imposing a substantial financial burden on their families. In recent years, the incidence of CNS diseases has shown a significant increase with the continuous improvement of the quality of life and the aging problem. Therefore, the search for new preventive and curative drugs has been a research hotspot for this group of diseases. Osthole(OST), isolated from Umbelliferae such as Cnidium monnieri, Angelica sinensis, and Heracleum hemsleyanum, possesses a variety of pharmacological effects such as neuroprotective, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antithrombotic effects. There is increasing evidence that OST has demonstrated significant preventive and curative effects in various CNS disease models. This paper systematically reviewed the research progress of OST in preventing and treating CNS diseases by reviewing domestic and international literature to provide more in-depth theoretical support for the future clinical application of OST in the prevention and treatment of CNS diseases.

RESUMO

Slow wound healing has been a troublesome problem in clinic. In China, traditional methods such as antibiotics and silver sulfadiazine are used to treat skin wound, but the abuse use has many disadvantages, such as chronic wounds and pathogen resistance. Studies have shown that the microorganisms with symbiotic relationship with organisms have benefits on skin wound. Therefore, the way to develop and utilize probiotics to promote wound healing has become a new research direction. In this paper, we reviewed the studies on the bacteriotherapy in the world, described how the probiotics can play a role in promoting wound healing through local wound and intestine, and introduced some mature probiotics products and clinical trials, aiming to provide foundations for further development of bacteriotherapy and products.

BACKGROUND: Peripheral inflammation is an important feature of Parkinson's disease (PD). However, if and how CNS pathology is involved in the peripheral inflammation in PD remains to be fully investigated. Recently, the existence of meningeal lymphatics and its involvement in draining cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) to the cervical lymph node has been discovered. It is known that meningeal lymphatic dysfunction exists in idiopathic PD. The deep cervical lymph node (dCLN) substantially contributes to the drainage of the meningeal lymphatics. In addition, one of the lymphatics draining components, CSF, contains abundant α-synuclein (α-syn), a protein critically involved in PD pathogenesis and neuroinflammation. Thus, we began with exploring the possible structural and functional alterations of the dCLN in a PD mouse model (A53T mice) and investigated the role of pathological α-syn in peripheral inflammation and its potential underlying molecular mechanisms. METHODS: In this study, the transgenic mice (prnp-SNCA*A53T) which specifically overexpressed A53T mutant α-syn in CNS were employed as the PD animal model. Immunofluorescent and Hematoxylin and eosin staining were used to evaluate structure of dCLN. Inflammation in dCLNs as well as in bone-marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs) was assessed quantitatively by measuring the mRNA and protein levels of typical inflammatory cytokines (including IL-1ß, IL-6 and TNF-α). Intra-cisterna magna injection, flow cytometric sorting and electrochemiluminescence immunoassays were applied to investigate the lymphatic drainage of α-syn from the CNS. RNA-seq and Western blot were used to explore how pathological α-syn mediated the inflammation in PD mice. RESULTS: The results unequivocally revealed substantially enlarged dCLNs, along with slow lymphatic flow, and increased inflammation in the dCLNs of A53T mice. Oligomeric α-syn drained from CSF potently activated macrophages in the dCLN via endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress. Notably, inhibition of ER stress effectively suppressed peripheral inflammation in PD mice. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings indicate that lymph node enlargement is closely related to macrophage activation, induced by meningeal lymphatics draining oligomeric α-syn, and contributes to the peripheral inflammation in PD. In addition, ER stress is a potential therapeutic target to ameliorate PD pathogenesis.

Cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) is a prominent cause of ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke and a leading cause of vascular dementia, affecting small penetrating vessels of the brain. Despite current advances in genetic susceptibility studies, challenges remain in defining the causative genes and the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms. Here, we reported that the ARHGEF15 gene was a causal gene linked to autosomal dominant inherited CSVD. We identified one heterozygous nonsynonymous mutation of the ARHGEF15 gene that cosegregated completely in two families with CSVD, and a heterozygous nonsynonymous mutation and a stop-gain mutation in two individuals with sporadic CSVD, respectively. Intriguingly, clinical imaging and pathological findings displayed severe osteoporosis and even osteoporotic fractures in all the ARHGEF15 mutation carriers. In vitro experiments indicated that ARHGEF15 mutations resulted in RhoA/ROCK2 inactivation-induced F-actin cytoskeleton disorganization in vascular smooth muscle cells and endothelial cells and osteoblast dysfunction by inhibiting the Wnt/ß-catenin signaling pathway in osteoblast cells. Furthermore, Arhgef15-e(V368M)1 transgenic mice developed CSVD-like pathological and behavioral phenotypes, accompanied by severe osteoporosis. Taken together, our findings provide strong evidence that loss-of-function mutations of the ARHGEF15 gene cause CSVD accompanied by osteoporotic fracture.

INTRODUCTION: Essential tremor (ET) is one of the most common movement disorders. Oral drugs play a crucial role in treating ET, with various available options such as propranolol, primidone, and topiramate. However, the medication status and related factors among Chinese ET patients are unknown yet. METHODS: This study used the baseline data from the National Survey of Essential Tremor Plus in China cohort. ET patients with information related to medication intake were included. Medication patients were defined as patients who were taking medication at the time of the survey. We further defined recommended medication users according to Chinese guideline recommendations and clinical knowledge. We used mean and standard deviation (SD), median and interquartile range (IQR), or frequencies and percentages when appropriate for descriptive analysis. We used multivariate logistic regression analyses to explore factors related to medication intake in all ET patients and in recommended medication users. RESULTS: Of 1,153 included ET participants, 207 (18.0%) took medication. Arotinolol (115, 55.6%) and propranolol (63, 30.4%) were the top 2 used medicines. Patients with middle school education (odds ratio 0.57, 95% confidence interval 0.39-0.83), college or higher level education (0.46, 0.28-0.76), and late-onset ET (LO-ET) (0.38, 0.23-0.63) were less likely to take medication. Patients with intention tremor (1.90, 1.38-2.62), every 10-unit increase in age (1.10, 1.00-1.21), Tremor Research Group Essential Tremor Rating Assessment Scale (TETRAS) Part 1 (1.63, 1.37-1.93), and TETRAS Part 2 (1.81, 1.48-2.22) were more likely to take medication. Among 332 recommended medication users, only 104 (31.3%) took medicine. The associations of LO-ET (0.36, 0.17-0.75), intention tremor (2.27, 1.35-3.81), TETRAS Part 1 (1.52, 1.09-2.13), and TETRAS Part 2 (1.59, 1.15-2.20) with medication were similar to all ET patients. CONCLUSION: The proportion of medication intake is low among both all ET patients and recommended medication users. The top 2 commonly used medications among all ET patients are arotinolol and propranolol. Influencing factors of medication intake are different between all ET patients and recommended medication users. Clinicians are suggested to provide counseling and education on ET medication to promote medication intake.

BACKGROUND: H9N2 virus is mainly transmitted through the respiratory mucosal pathway, so mucosal immunity is considered to play a good role in controlling avian influenza infection. It is commonly accepted that no adequate mucosal immunity is achieved by inactivated vaccines, which was widely used to prevent and control avian influenza virus infection. Thus, an improved vaccine to induce both mucosal immunity and systemic immunity is urgently required to control H9N2 avian influenza outbreaks in poultry farms. METHODS: In this study, we constructed a novel Lactococcus lactis (L. lactis) strain expressing a recombinant fusion protein consisting of the HA1 proteins derived from an endemic H9N2 virus strain and chicken IgY Fc fragment. We evaluated the immunogenicity and protective efficacy of this recombinant L. lactis HA1-Fc strain. RESULTS: Our data demonstrated that chickens immunized with L. lactis HA1-Fc strain showed significantly increased levels of serum antibodies, mucosal secretory IgA, T cell-mediated immune responses, and lymphocyte proliferation. Furthermore, following challenge with H9N2 avian influenza virus, chickens immunized with L. lactis HA1-Fc strain showed reduced the weight loss, relieved clinical symptoms, and decreased the viral titers and the pathological damage in the lung. Moreover, oropharyngeal and cloacal shedding of the H9N2 influenza virus was detected in chicken immunized with L. lactis HA1-Fc after infection, the results showed the titer was low and reduced quickly to reach undetectable levels at 7 days after infection. CONCLUSION: Our data showed that the recombinant L. lactis HA1-Fc strain could induce protective mucosal and systemic immunity, and this study provides a theoretical basis for improving immune responses to prevent and control H9N2 virus infection.

Novel heterostructures created by coupling one-dimensional semiconductor nanowires with a superconducting thin film show great potential toward next-generation quantum computing. Here, by growing high-crystalline SiGe nanowires on a NbTiN thin film, the resulting heterostructure exhibits Ohmic characteristics as well as a shift of the superconducting transition temperature (Tc). The structure was characterized at atomic resolution showing a sharp SiGe/NbTiN interface without atomic interdiffusion. Lattice spacing, as calculated from large-area x-ray diffraction experiments, suggests a potential preferredd-spacing matching between (200) NbTiN and (110) SiGe grains. The observed out-of-plane compressive strain within the NbTiN films coupled with SiGe nanowires explains the downward shift of the superconductivity behavior. The presented results post scientific insights toward functional heterostructures by coupling multi-dimensional materials, which could enable tunable superconductivity that benefits the quantum science applications.

Bat-associated hantaviruses have been detected in Asia, Africa and Europe. Recently, a novel hantavirus (Brno loanvirus, BRNV) was identified in common noctule bats (Nyctalus noctula) in the Czech Republic, but nothing is known about its geographical range and prevalence. The objective of this study was to evaluate the distribution and host specificity of BRNV by testing bats from neighbouring countries Germany, Austria and Poland. One thousand forty-seven bats representing 21 species from Germany, 464 bats representing 18 species from Austria and 77 bats representing 12 species from Poland were screened by L segment broad-spectrum nested reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) or by BRNV-specific real-time RT-PCR. Three common noctules from Germany, one common noctule from Austria and three common noctules from Poland were positive in the hantavirus RNA screening. Conventional RT-PCR and primer walking resulted in the amplification of partial L segment and (almost) complete S and M segment coding sequences for samples from Germany and partial L segment sequences for samples from Poland. Phylogenetic analysis of these nucleotide sequences showed highest similarity to BRNV from Czech Republic. The exclusive detection of BRNV in common noctules from different countries suggests high host specificity. The RNA detection rate in common noctules ranged between 1 of 207 (0.5%; Austria), 3 of 245 (1.2%; Germany) and 3 of 20 (15%; Poland). In conclusion, this study demonstrates a broader distribution of BRNV in common noctules in Central Europe, but at low to moderate prevalence. Additional studies are needed to prove the zoonotic potential of this hantavirus and evaluate its transmission within bat populations.

Earthworms are used to cure wounds in Chinese villages for thousands of years. Recently, scientists realized their extracts could promote wound healing and they have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-apoptosis, and anti-microbial properties, but its mechanism of promoting wound healing remains unclear. In the presented study, electronic literature databases and LC-MS/MS were used to determine earthworms' ingredients and differential metabolites. Swiss Target Prediction database was used for ingredients' target prediction and wound disease-relevant genes were found from GeneCards, OMIM, and DrugBank databases. Network pharmacology was conducted to demonstrate filtering hub targets, biological functions, and the signaling pathways of earthworms extract against wounds. Molecular docking and metabolism analysis were used to look for core target genes and key bioactive molecules from earthworms. Finally, the investigation shows 5 most important signal pathways, 5 core genes, and 6 bioactive ingredients-related cell-cell adhesion, cell proliferation, and cell migration processes could be affected by earthworms' extract. On 3rd day, the extract could regulate HIF1A and EGFR targets to make the differences of quantities of 4-pyridoxate, tetradecanoic acid, and L-kynurenine. While on 7th day, the regulation refers 6 earthworms' bioactive ingredients, 4 core genes (CTNNB1, EGFR, SRC, and CASP3), and 4 differential metabolites (4-hydoxy-2-quinolinecarboxylic acid, urocanate, deoxyinosine, creatine, and sn-glycerol-3-phosphocholine). on 14th day, 2 core genes (EGFR, SRC) are influenced in the biological processes. Briefly, we found that 6 ingredients from earthworms have most bioactive and 5 core genes play an important role in promoting wound-healing processes. These discovers indicates earthworms could against wound via AGE-RAGE, PI3K-Akt, HIF1A, MAPK, and Axon guidance pathways.

Seed rain phenology (the start and end date of seed rain) is an essential component of plant phenology, critical for understanding population regeneration and community dynamics. However, intra- and inter-annual changes of seed rain phenology along environmental gradients have rarely been studied and the responses of seed rain phenology to climate variations are unclear. We monitored seed rain phenology of four forest communities in four years at different elevations (900 m, 1450 m, 1650 m, 1900 m a.s.l.) of a subtropical mountain in Central China. We analyzed the spatiotemporal patterns of seed rain phenology of 29 common woody plant species (total observed species in the seed rain), and related the phenological variations to seed number and climatic variables using mixed-effect models with the correlation matrix of phylogeny. We found that changes in the period length were mainly driven by the end rather than the start date. The end date and the period length of seed rain were significantly different between the mast and non-mast seeding years, while no significant elevation-related trend was detected in seed rain phenology variation. Seed number, mean temperature in spring (Tspr), and winter (Twin), summer precipitation (Psum) had significant effects on seed rain phenology. When Tspr increased, the start date of seed rain advanced, while the end date was delayed and the seed rain period length was mainly prolonged by a higher seed number, Twin and Psum. Forest canopy might have a buffering effect on understory climatic conditions, especially in precipitation that lead to difference in seed rain phenology between canopy and shrub species. Our novel evidence of seed rain phenology can improve prediction of community regeneration dynamics in responding to climate changes.
