RESUMO

Heat-assisted magnetic anisotropy engineering has been successfully used in selective magnetic writing and microwave amplification due to a large interfacial thermal resistance between the MgO barrier and the adjacent ferromagnetic layers. However, in spin-orbit torque devices, the writing current does not flow through the tunnel barrier, resulting in a negligible heating effect due to efficient heat dissipation. Here, we report a dramatically reduced switching current density of ∼2.59 MA/cm2 in flexible spin-orbit torque heterostructures, indicating a 98% decrease in writing energy consumption compared with that on a silicon substrate. The reduced driving current density is enabled by the dramatically decreased magnetic anisotropy due to Joule dissipation and the lower thermal conductivity of the flexible substrate. The large magnetic anisotropy could be fully recovered after the impulse, indicating retained high stability. These results pave the way for flexible spintronics with the otherwise incompatible advantages of low power consumption and high stability.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) act as key regulators in human cancers and chemoresistance. Here, we aimed to explore the role and mechanism of circ_0058608 in nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and taxol resistance. The expression of circ_0058608, microRNA-1299 (miR-1299) and guanylate binding protein 1 (GBP1) mRNA was determined by quantitative real-time PCR. In-vitro and in-vivo assays were conducted using Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8), 5-ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine (EdU), colony formation, transwell assays, flow cytometry and animal xenograft experiments. The interaction between miR-1299 and circ_0058608 or GBP1 was confirmed by the dual-luciferase reporter and RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP) assays. Circ_0058608 was overexpressed in NSCLC tissues/cells and taxol-resistant NSCLC tissues/cells. Circ_0058608 knockdown inhibited NSCLC cell proliferation and metastasis and also suppressed tumor growth in vivo. Moreover, circ_0058608 knockdown increased taxol sensitivity by increasing taxol-induced apoptosis in taxol-resistant NSCLC cells. Moreover, circ_0058608 silencing enhanced taxol-induced tumor growth of NSCLC in vivo. MiR-1299 was a target of circ_0058608, and the effects of circ_0058608 knockdown on NSCLC cell progression and taxol resistance were reversed by miR-1299 inhibition. Additionally, miR-1299 could interact with GBP1, and miR-1299 suppressed NSCLC cell progression and taxol resistance by targeting GBP1. Furthermore, circ_0058608 could regulate GBP1 expression by sponging miR-1299. Circ_0058608 promoted the progression and taxol resistance of NSCLC by regulating the miR-1299/GBP1 axis.

Target-responsive aptamer hydrogels are increasingly used in the field of analytical sensing with different morphologies developed by various strategies. Herein, we developed a DNA hydrogel film combined with capillary self-driven action for the specific detection of the tumor marker EpCAM and further introduced Exo I for signal amplification. EpCAM aptamer was used as a crosslinking agent to construct the DNA hydrogel film. When EpCAM was present, it competed for binding with the EpCAM aptamer, resulting in a permeability change of the DNA hydrogel film attached to one end of the capillary, and leading to different solution flow rates through the capillaries that can be utilized for the quantitative detection of EpCAM. This method did not require any instrument and was easy to use. The distance the solution travelled through the capillary was quantified as the concentration of EpCAM, and only a small amount of DNA hydrogel was required for each detection. The detection limit of EpCAM was as low as 0.018 ng mL-1, while offering the advantages of good stability and specificity, and showing great potential in point-of-care testing.

Chinese patent medicines(CPMs) are unique therapeutic drugs in China. Establishing and improving the evaluation criteria is an important measure to promote the high-quality development of CPMs. Based on the "evaluation criteria of high-grade CPMs with quality as the core index" established by our group in 2018, the "high-quality evaluation criteria for CPMs based on whole process control" was proposed in the present study in 2022. The scope of application and basic principles of the new criteria were clarified. A quality evaluation scoring table was established in the new criteria, including five parts: raw material selection, production process, quality control, efficacy evaluation, and brand building. The technical evaluation indexes involved have increased from 20% in the original criteria to 70% in the new criteria, and efficacy evaluation has been added in the new criteria. The subjective evaluation indicators account for a large proportion in the original criteria, which is prone to bias. The improved criteria overcome this shortcoming. It is expected that the new criteria as a basis can play a better role in the selection of high-quality products of CPMs, guide enterprises and institutions to participate actively in the evaluation and research of high-quality CPMs, and promote the high-quality development of CPMs.

The big brand of Chinese patent medicine, Fufang Danshen Prescription(FDP), effective in promoting blood circulation, resolving blood stasis, regulating qi, and relieving pain, is wide in clinical application and diverse in dosage forms and products, but its quality and price are uneven, which causes problems for doctors and patients. To clarify the key links and weakness of quality control leading to the quality difference of FDP products, the present study carried out a comprehensive evaluation of the whole production cycle of FDP based on the "high-quality Chinese patent medicine evaluation criteria" and analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of production and quality of different FDP products according to scores. The results showed that the scores of various products in the "raw materials selection" varied greatly. The highest score(S1) and the lowest score(S2) differed by more than 3 times, indicating that different manufacturers had inconsistent requirements for the selection of raw materials, leading to fundamental differences in the quality of raw materials. The scores in the "production process" varied slightly, with an average score of 66.8%. The manufacturer S8 obtained the highest score(84.0%), which indicated the emergence of intelligent manufacturing production. The scores(with the average score of 44.0%) in the "quality control" were lower than those of the previous two items, which was attributed to the fact that most FDP products only met the "qualified" benchmark required by the 2020 edition of Chinese Pharmacopoeia, and their consistency and high quality were both uncontrollable. The scores in the "post-marketing research" were the lowest(with an average score of 28.5%), and most manufacturers were scored 0, which reflected little attention paid. Only a few brand manufacturers were scored acceptably and they were willing to carry out relevant research on post-marketing evaluation. The evaluation results demonstrated the key links and weakness leading to the production and quality differences of FDP from different manufacturers. It is expected to improve the quality of FDP, promote the formation of the "high quality and good price" mechanism, and provide information for the centralized procurement of governments.

This study is to investigate the inhibitory effects and mechanisms of DEK-targeting aptamer (DTA-64) on epithelial mesenchymaltransition (EMT)-mediated airway remodelling in mice and human bronchial epithelial cell line BEAS-2B. In the ovalbumin (OVA)-induced asthmatic mice, DTA-64 significantly reduced the infiltration of eosinophils and neutrophils in lung tissue, attenuated the airway resistance and the proliferation of goblet cells. In addition, DTA-64 reduced collagen deposition, transforming growth factor 1 (TGF-ß1) level in BALF and IgE levels in serum, balanced Th1/Th2/Th17 ratio, and decreased mesenchymal proteins (vimentin and α-SMA), as well as weekend matrix metalloproteinases (MMP-2 and MMP-9) and NF-κB p65 activity. In the in vitro experiments, we used TGF-ß1 to induce EMT in the human epithelial cell line BEAS-2B. DEK overexpression (ovDEK) or silencing (shDEK) up-regulated or down-regulated TGF-ß1 expression, respectively, on the contrary, TGF-ß1 exposure had no effect on DEK expression. Furthermore, ovDEK and TGF-ß1 synergistically promoted EMT, whereas shDEK significantly reduced mesenchymal markers and increased epithelial markers, thus inhibiting EMT. Additionally, shDEK inhibited key proteins in TGF-ß1-mediated signalling pathways, including Smad2/3, Smad4, p38 MAPK, ERK1/2, JNK and PI3K/AKT/mTOR. In conclusion, the effects of DTA-64 against EMT of asthmatic mice and BEAS-2B might partially be achieved through suppressing TGF-ß1/Smad, MAPK and PI3K signalling pathways. DTA-64 may be a new therapeutic option for the management of airway remodelling in asthma patients.

Liuwei Dihuang Pills is a typical traditional Chinese medicine with "the same product made by many manufacturers". The quality and price of products made in various factories was different obviously. In this study, the quality differences of Liuwei Dihuang Pills were evaluated over multi-dimensions and throughout the whole production cycle involving raw materials, production process, quality control and post-marketing re-studies based on the "Chinese patent medicine evaluation standard with quality at the core" established earlier by our research group. The research results showed that the product quality of various manufacturers was significantly different, and the product quality was positively correlated with the market shares of enterprises, indicating that enterprises with more market shares paid more attention to product quality; and the sales determined the concern degree of enterprises on products, which was in line with general cognition. During the single-item evaluation of Liuwei Dihuang Pills, the score of raw material selection was relatively low, and the enterprises paid less attention to the initial raw materials. The whole production process was better, and the national compulsory implementation of "Production Quality Management Standard"(GMP) had a positive effect in improving product quality. Quality control could basically guarantee product quality. Intelligent manufacturing promoted by the government was beneficial to ensure product uniformity. The score rate of "quality evaluation" item was basically qualified, which indicated that the quality control level of Liuwei Dihuang Pills was acceptable as a whole, but there was still room for improvement. "Re-evaluation and Brand Construction" had the lowest scores, reflecting that enterprises did not pay enough attention to in-depth study and re-evaluation of "the same product made by many manufacturers". The evaluation results were in line with expectations, provided a reference example for the evaluation of high-quality Chinese patent medicine, a basis for the high-quality and good price of Chinese patent medicine, scientific data for improving medical insurance bidding, and thus facilitated promoting the healthy development of the traditional Chinese medicine industry.

Two-dimensional (2D) materials, owing to their unique properties, have shown great potential for energy storage. In this work, we predict two types of new 2D transition metal carbides and nitrides, namely, tetragonal V2C2 and V2N2 (tetr-V2C2 and tetr-V2N2) monolayer sheets. Comprehensive first-principle calculations show that these two 2D systems exhibit dynamic (thermal) stabilities and intrinsic metallic nature. Compared with the commercialized graphite anode material, tetr-V2C2 and tetr-V2N2 monolayer sheets exhibit lower Li diffusion barrier of 89 and 94 meV, higher theoretical capacity of 412 and 425 mA h g-1 and lower average open circuit of 0.468 and 0.583 V, respectively. Combining those advanced features, our proposed tetr-V2C2 and tetr-V2N2 monolayer sheets are both promising candidates as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) in the future.

NaNbO3 with oxygen vacancies has been successfully synthesized through a well controllable solid-state reaction, whose photocatalytic performances have been prominently enhanced by almost 2.4 times compared with just annealed NaNbO3 (the control sample). When oxygen vacancies were introduced into the perovskite, the color of NaNbO3 turned black and the band gap was decreased, resulting in its remarkable absorption under visible light, and its higher symmetry also favors the electron transfer. More importantly, oxygen vacancies lead to larger specific surface area and higher charge density, which play non-negligible roles in improving the visible-light-activities. These encouraging findings prove that oxygen vacancy engineering is a feasible and general strategy to improve the photocatalytic performances of perovskite oxides, which will promote many related applications.

CENPU (centromere protein U), a centromere component essential for mitosis, relates with some cancers progression. However, it is not well illustrated in lung adenocarcinoma (LAC). Here, we aimed to investigate the potential effect of CENPU on LAC progression and prognosis. In this experiment, expression level of CENPU and association between its expression and LAC patients' clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis were analyzed. The proliferation, migration and invasive abilities of LAC cells were determined by CCK-8, colony formation, transwell assays. Western blot was used to detect PI3K/AKT signaling key proteins. We found CENPU level was overexpressed in LAC tissues on comparing normal tissues. Moreover, CENPU overexpression correlated with clinicopathological variables and predicted an independent prognostic indicator in LAC patients. Functionally, CENPU downregulation significantly inhibited LAC cell proliferation, migration and invasion in, which was possibly mediated by PI3K/AKT pathway inactivation. Our findings insinuate targeting CENPU may be a potential therapeutic strategy for LAC.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the prevalence of different degrees vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) in stroke and the characteristics of demography distribution in Inner Mongolia. In order to provide reference data and theoretical guidance for the prevention and treatment of VCI after stroke in the area. METHODS: Stratified multi-stage random sampling was used to extract six regions of Inner Mongolia as the first sampling cluster; and then the corresponding banners (counties) were selected randomly as the secondary sampling cluster; according to the number of patient required to investigation, the corresponding number of communities was randomly selected from the secondary sampling cluster. According to the diagnostic criteria of 'Guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of vascular cognitive impairment' and National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke convened an International Workshop with support from the Association Internationale pour la Recherche et l'Enseignement en Neurosciences (NINDS-AIREN), we screened all stroke patients aged 45 or older from each community, a total of 444 patients participated in the questionnaire and various scale assessments. RESULTS: The prevalence of VCI, vascular cognitive impairment no dementia and vascular dementia was 80.41%, 34.46% and 45.95% respectively. The prevalence of VCI in stroke was significantly different in different nationality, age and education level (P < 0.05), and there was no significant difference in gender, occupation, marital status and family structure (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: The prevalence of VCI after stroke was higher in Inner Mongolia, and VCI had a relatively high morbidity in old age people and person with less education in Chinese Han population.

In accelerator driven systems (ADSs), steels will suffer not only from the irradiation damage produced by protons or neutrons, but also from the dissolution corrosion induced by the liquid lead-bismuth eutectic (LBE). In this work we investigate the interactions between LBE atoms (Pb, Bi) and the irradiation induced defects X (X is helium, vacancy or divacancy) in α-Fe based on first-principles calculations. It is found that LBE atoms repulse each other without irradiation defects, while they aggregate easily with the defects to form X-Pbn and X-Bin complexes. This indicates that the irradiation defects could promote the aggregation of LBE atoms in iron, especially Bi atoms. The total binding energies of the X-Pbn and X-Bin complexes increase with the number of Pb and Bi atoms, respectively. The origin of the total binding energies of the complexes is further discussed via the electronic structures and the distortion of the crystalline lattice. Finally, the concentration evolutions of the Vac-(Bi)n complexes and unbound vacancies with temperature are predicted by the mass action analysis. This work provides important information for the synergistic effect of irradiation and LBE corrosion on the steels in the ADSs, which can be used as basic parameters for further study.

Using first principles calculations, dissolution corrosion of liquid metals on iron surfaces has been investigated by calculating adsorption energies of metal atoms in the liquid phase on the surface and escape energies of surface Fe atoms. The adsorption energies, characterizing the stability of the adsorbed atoms on the investigated surfaces, show that Bi is more stable than Pb and Au. The escape energies, representing the energy required for an Fe atom to escape from the surface, show that adsorbed Pb makes surface Fe atoms escape more easily than Bi and Au. The combination of adsorption energy and escape energy indicates that the corrosion capabilities of liquid metals decrease in the order Bi > Pb > Au. This is further proved by the investigation of surface properties, such as inter-layer distance, magnetic momentum and charge density difference. The results are consistent with experimental results that Fe can be corroded more severely in Bi than in Pb. In the case of liquid alloys, chemical proportions of compositions are incorporated to evaluate the corrosion capabilities of Pb-Bi eutectic (LBE) and Pb-Au eutectic (LGE). It is found that LBE has more severe corrosion capability than LGE. The energetic calculation is further developed in evaluating the effect of alloying elements in popular steels on the dissolution corrosion. The results indicate that Si, V, Nb and Mo may mitigate the dissolution corrosion of martensite steels in liquid Pb, Bi and Au.

PURPOSE: Cardiac pacing can be used to treat carotid sinus syndrome (CSS), but clinical studies have shown conflicting results. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the role of pacing for CSS. METHODS: A systematic search of publications in PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library without language restriction was performed. Prospective randomized studies that compared cardiac pacing with standard therapy or pacing with different algorithms were included if the recurrence of syncope or the number of falls was observed. RESULTS: Eight studies enrolling 540 patients were identified. In open-label studies, the recurrence of syncope was reduced significantly by cardiac pacing compared with standard therapy. The recurrence of syncope was not different between single- and dual-chamber pacing, but a lower rate of patients with pre-syncope was observed in the group with dual-chamber pacing. Double-blind clinical studies failed to observe the role of cardiac pacing for preventing falls in patients with CSS. CONCLUSION: The results of meta-analysis supported the use of cardiac pacing for patients with dominant cardioinhibitory CSS.

A method for the detection of arsenocholine (AsC), arsenobetaine (AsB), As(III), dimethylarsinic (DMA), monomethylarsonic (MMA) and As (V) by capillary electrophoresis-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (CE-ICP-MS) was established. The results showed that the six species of arsenic were separated within 20 min under the optimized conditions. Good linearities of 6 arsenic species were observed in the range from 2 to 50 µg x L(-1) with the linear correlation greater than 0.996, the detection limits were 0.10-1.08 µg x L(-1) and the RSDs (n = 5) of the peak areas were smaller than 7%. The method was successfully adopted to the determination of the species in Scomberomorus niphonius. The recoveries were between 93% and 98%, and we found the arsenobetaine (AsB) was the main species in the sample. The method was suitable for the analysis of other biological samples with the advantages of good stability, less sample consumption, short analysis time and convenience.

Background: Osteosarcoma (OS) is the most common bone malignant tumor in children and adolescents. Recent research indicates that non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) have been associated with OS occurrence and development, with significant progress made in this field. However, there is no intelligent structure prediction and literature visualization analysis in this research field. From the perspective of intelligent knowledge structure construction and bibliometrics, this study will comprehensively review the role of countries, institutions, journals, authors, literature citation relationships and subject keywords in the field of ncRNAs in OS. Based on this analysis, we will systematically analyze the characteristics of the knowledge structure of ncRNAs in OS disease research and identify the current research hotspots and trends. Methods: The Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database was searched for articles on ncRNAs in OS between 2001 and 2023. This bibliometric analysis was performed using VOSviewers, CiteSpace, and Pajek. Results: This study involved 15,631 authors from 2,631 institutions across 57 countries/regions, with a total of 3,642 papers published in 553 academic journals. China has the highest number of published papers in this research field. The main research institutions include Nanjing Medical University (n = 129, 3.54%), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (n = 128, 3.51%), Zhengzhou University (n = 110, 3.02%), and China Medical University (n = 109, 2.99%). Oncology Letters (n =139, 3.82%), European Review for Medical Pharmacological Sciences (120, 3.31%), and Molecular Medicine Reports (n = 95, 2.61%) are the most popular journals in this field, with Oncotarget being the most co-cited journal (Co-Citation = 4,268). Wei Wang, Wei Liu, and Zhenfeng Duan published the most papers, with Wang Y being the most co-cited author. "miRNA", "lncRNA" and "circRNA" are the main focuses of ncRNAs in OS studies. Key themes include "migration and invasion", "apoptosis and proliferation", "prognosis", "biomarkers" and "chemoresistance". Since 2020, hotspots and trends in ncRNA research in OS include "tumor microenvironment", "immune" and "exosome". Conclusion: This study represents the first comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the knowledge structure and development of ncRNAs in OS. These findings highlight current research hotspots and frontier directions, offering valuable insights for future studies on the role of ncRNAs in OS.

Control of magnetic anisotropy in thin films with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy is of paramount importance for the development of spintronics with ultralow-energy consumption and high density. Traditional magnetoelectric heterostructures utilized the synergistic effect of piezoelectricity and magnetostriction to realize the electric field control of magnetic anisotropy, resulting in additional fabrication and modulation processes and a complicated device architecture. Here, we have systematically investigated the electric current tuning of the magnetic properties of the metallic NiCo2O4 film with intrinsic perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. Ferrimagnetic-to-paramagnetic phase transition has been induced through Joule heating, resulting in a rapid decrease of both magnetic coercivity and moment. An ultralow current density of 2.5 × 104 A/cm2, which is 2 to 3 orders magnitude lower than that of conventional spin transfer torque devices, has been verified to be effective for the control of the magnetic anisotropy of NiCo2O4. Successful triggering of magnetic switching has been realized through the application of a current pulse. These findings provide new perspectives toward the electric control of magnetic anisotropy and design of spintronics with an ultralow driving current density.

A simple and sensitive DNA-stablized gold nanoparticle (AuNP)-based chemiluminescent (CL) probe for detecting mercury ion (Hg(2+)) in aqueous solution has been developed. The CL strategy relies upon the catalytic activity of unmodified AuNPs on the luminol-H2 O2 CL reaction, and the interaction of unmodified AuNPs with DNA. The unmodified AuNPs can effectively differentiate unstructured and folded DNA. The DNA desorbs from AuNPs in the presence of Hg(2+), leading to the increase in CL signal. By rationally varying the number of thymine in single-strand oligonucleotides, the detection range could be tuned. Employing single-strand oligonucleotides with 14 thymine in the detecting system, a sensitive linear range for Hg(2+) ions from 5.0 × 10(-10) to 1.0 × 10(-7) mol/L and a detection limit of 2.1 × 10(-10) mol/L are obtained. Changing the number of thymine to 10 and 6, it leads to a narrow detection range but a high sensitivity. Besides, DNA-based CL nanoprobes exhibit a remarkable selectivity for Hg(2+) ions over a variety of competing metal ions.

Food safety is one of the greatest public health challenges. Developing ultrasensitive detection methods for analytes at ultra-trace levels is, therefore, essential. In recent years, the bio-barcode assay (BCA) has emerged as an effective ultrasensitive detection strategy that is based on the indirect amplification of various DNA probes. This review systematically summarizes the progress of fluorescence, PCR, and colorimetry-based BCA methods for the detection of various contaminants, including pathogenic bacteria, toxins, pesticides, antibiotics, and other chemical substances in food in over 120 research papers. Current challenges, including long experimental times and strict storage conditions, and the prospects for the application of BCA in biomedicine and environmental analyses, have also been discussed herein.

DEK protein is highly expressed in asthma. However, the mechanism of DEK on mitophagy in asthma has not been fully understood. This study aims to investigate the role and mechanism of DEK in asthmatic airway inflammation and in regulating PINK1-Parkin-mediated mitophagy, NLRP3 inflammasome activation, and apoptosis. PINK1-Parkin mitophagy, NLRP3 inflammasome, and apoptosis were examined after gene silencing or treatment with specific inhibitors (MitoTEMPO, MCC950, and Ac-DEVD-CHO) in house dust mite (HDM) or recombinant DEK (rmDEK)-induced WT and DEK-/- asthmatic mice and BEAS-2B cells. The regulatory role of DEK on ATAD3A was detected using ChIP-sequence and co-immunoprecipitation. rmDEK promoted eosinophil recruitment, and co-localization of TOM20 and LC3B, MFN1 and mitochondria, LC3B and VDAC, and ROS generation, reduced protein level of MnSOD in HDM induced-asthmatic mice. Moreover, rmDEK also increased DRP1 expression, PINK1-Parkin-mediated mitophagy, NLRP3 inflammasome activation, and apoptosis. These effects were partially reversed in DEK-/- mice. In BEAS-2B cells, siDEK diminished the Parkin, LC3B, and DRP1 translocation to mitochondria, mtROS, TOM20, and mtDNA. ChIP-sequence analysis showed that DEK was enriched on the ATAD3A promoter and could positively regulate ATAD3A expression. Additionally, ATAD3A was highly expressed in HDM-induced asthma models and interacted with DRP1, and siATAD3A could down-regulate DRP1 and mtDNA-mediated mitochondrial oxidative damage. Conclusively, DEK deficiency alleviates airway inflammation in asthma by down-regulating PINK1-Parkin mitophagy, NLRP3 inflammasome activation, and apoptosis. The mechanism may be through the DEK/ATAD3A/DRP1 signaling axis. Our findings may provide new potential therapeutic targets for asthma treatment.
