RESUMO

Glomalin-related soil protein (GRSP), a microbial product that can be used as a bioflocculant, is critical to metal sequestration in the ecosystem. However, the relationship between GRSP and heavy metal has not been well explored. In this study, the adsorption behaviors and mechanisms of Pb(II) and Zn(II) ions on GRSP were investigated. Results reveal that the Pb(II) and Zn(II) adsorption closely conform to the pseudo second-order model, which indicates that the chemisorption of GRSP occurred after intra-particle diffusion. The adsorption process is influenced by the degree of pollution, pH value, GRSP content in the environment. In addition, scanning electron microscopy coupled with microanalysis (SEM-EDX) reveals that the surface structure of GRSP is irregularly blocky or flaky and metal ions are uniformly distributed on the surface of GRSP. Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis show that the carboxyl and nitro groups on GRSP act as ligands to form complexes with two divalent metal ions. The interaction between GRSP and the metals is mainly surface complexation. This research further reveals the dynamic response of its structural components when GRSP sequestrates heavy metals in mangrove sediment and aqueous ecosystems, demonstrating a new perspective for the transport and transformation of heavy metals onto GRSP.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Dityrosine, the modification of tyrosine residues, may contribute to metabolic disorders. This study was undertaken to investigate plasma dityrosine concentrations in patients with hyperlipidemia and to examine the correlation between dityrosine and lipid profiles. METHODS: Fluorescence spectrophotometry was used to measure dityrosine in the plasma of healthy subjects (n = 203) and dyslipidemic subjects, which included patients with mild hyperlipidemia (n = 246) and hyperlipidemia (n = 179). Advanced oxidation protein products (AOPP) and malondialdehyde (MDA) were also assayed in all subjects. RESULTS: Dityrosine levels were higher by 9.3 and 22.9% in mildly hyperlipidemic and hyperlipidemic patients, respectively, compared to controls after adjustment for age, gender, and BMI. AOPP and MDA levels showed similar trends. The levels of dityrosine related positively (p < 0.05) to total cholesterol (r = 0.362), triglycerides (r = 0.449), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (r = 0.359). Moreover, plasma dityrosine (r = 0.408), AOPP (r = 0.488), and MDA (r = 0.181) levels were elevated with an increase in the atherosclerosis index in the subjects. CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that dityrosine formation may be an early event in the pathological process of hyperlipidemia. Dityrosine as a biomarker detected by fluorescence spectrophotometry might be a useful tool to evaluate the plasma redox state in hyperlipidemia.

RESUMO

Aconitum is a medicinal treasure trove that grows extensively on fertile pastures in Xinjiang Province (China); however, its molecular genetic characteristics are still poorly studied. We studied Aconitum kusnezoffii Reichb., Aconitum soongaricum Stapf., Aconitum carmichaelii Debx. and Aconitum leucostomum Worosch, using random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) and inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) techniques, to evaluate their genetic relationship and potential medicinal value. Our results showed that A.kusnezoffii Reichb. and A.soongaricum Stapf. have close genetic relationship and cluster together. Polymorphism rates of 97.25% and 98.92% were achieved by using 15 RAPD and 15 ISSR primers, respectively. Based on Nei's gene diversity (H) and Shannon's index (I), the inter-population diversity (Hs ) was higher when compared with the intra-population diversity (Hp ). Among the three Aconitum populations, the coefficient of gene differentiation (Gst ) was 0.4358 when evaluated by RAPD and 0.5005 by ISSR. The genetic differentiation among the three Aconitum populations was highly significant, suggesting low gene flow (Nm ). This was confirmed by the estimates of gene flow (Nm = 0.6473 and Nm = 0.4991, based on ISSR and RAPD data, respectively). Comparing the RAPD and ISSR results, the two DNA markers proved similarly effective in the assessment of the genetic characteristics of the studied Aconitum populations and could be used for reliable fingerprinting and mapping in studies on Aconitum diversity in view of Aconitum suitability for development and protection.

RESUMO

High fat feeding induces a variety of obese and lean phenotypes in inbred rodents. Obesity is a pro-inflammatory state, and regulatory T cells (Tregs) are essential negative regulators of inflammation. We aimed to determine the involvement of Tregs in the mice susceptible or resistant to high-fat diet (HFD). In the study, diet-induced obese (DIO) mice experienced significant increases in weight gain, energy intake, fat masses, plasma lipid and proinflammatory cytokines in comparison with control and diet-resistant (DR) mice. Also, Tregs production decreased in DIO mice. HFD diminished mitochondrial transmembrane potential (MTP) in the spleen Tregs of DIO mice and reinforced apoptosis compared with that in DR mice. Moreover, HFD significantly decreased antioxidant enzymes expressions and increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) productions in the Tregs of DIO mice, but not in those of DR mice, which should provide valuable evidence for unraveling the pathogenesis of inflammation found in this obese mice model.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore serum redox status differences among different types of dyslipidemia patients. METHOD: One hundred and nineteen healthy people and two hundred and ninety four dyslipidemic participants on clinical examination were divided into six groups: control group, hypercholesterolemia (HTC), hypertriglyceridemia (HTG), combined hyperlipidemia (CH), low level of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LHDL) and hyperlipidemia with LHDL (HBL + LHDL) according to blood lipid profiles. Malonaldehyde (MDA), total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), advanced oxidation protein products (AOPP) and dityrosine (DT) in serum were measured. RESULTS: In all participants, the T-AOC, AOPP and DT levels in HTG, CH and HBL + LHDL groups were significantly (P < 0.05) higher than that in controls, further, LHDL with or without hyperlipidemia had elevated (P < 0.05) MDA level compared with control, HTC and HTG groups, whereas levels of AOPP and DT in LHDL were not different with controls. Triglycerides values showed a positive correlation with MDA, T-AOC, AOPP and DT. CONCLUSION: Level of serum oxidative stress was higher in hyperlipidemia patients than in healthy people, and high triglycerides levels were more likely to cause an imbalance in redox status.

RESUMO

The emerging field of flexible tactile sensing systems, equipped with multi-physical tactile sensing capabilities, holds vast potential across diverse domains such as medical monitoring, robotics, and human-computer interaction. In response to the prevailing challenges associated with the limited integration and sensitivity of flexible tactile sensors, this paper introduces a versatile tactile sensing system capable of concurrently monitoring temperature and pressure. The temperature sensor employs carbon nanotube/graphene conductive paste as its sensitive material, while the pressure sensor integrates an ionic gel containing boron nitride as its sensitive layer. Through the application of cost-effective screen printing technology, we have successfully manufactured a flexible dual-mode sensor with exceptional performance, featuring high sensitivity (804.27 kPa-1), a broad response range (50 kPa), rapid response time (17 ms), and relaxation time (34 ms), alongside exceptional durability over 5000 cycles. Furthermore, the resistance temperature coefficient of the sensor within the temperature range of 12.5 °C to 93.7 °C is -0.17% °C-1. The designed flexible dual-mode tactile sensing system enables the real-time detection of pressure and temperature information, presenting an innovative approach to electronic skin with multi-physical tactile sensing capabilities.

RESUMO

Some studies have shown that the heavy metal emissions (HMEs) emitted from diesel engines can seriously threaten human health. HMEs are mainly related to the content of heavy metal ions in diesel fuel. Therefore, in order to reduce HMEs from diesel engines, a nano-fiber membrane filtration technology for diesel fuel was investigated. Herein, coal fly ash (CFA) from coal-fired power plants combined with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) was successfully fabricated into nano-fibrous membranes using green electrospinning technology. In order to evaluate the adsorption properties, various hybrid membranes with different mixing ratios (PVA/CFA = 10/0, 10/1, 10/3, 10/5, and 10/7 by weight) were fabricated. The results show that eight metal ions with different concentrations are found in the diesel fuel, including Pb, Cu, Zn, Al, Fe, Cr, Ba, and Ni. All PVA/FA membranes have different adsorption capacities for metal ions, following the order: Cu > Fe > Pb > Al > Zn > Cr > Ba > Ni. In addition, the adsorption capacity of CFA3 (PVA/CFA = 10/3) is the largest. The super lipophilicity of the PVA/FA membranes also provide more adsorption sites for the contact of HMs with the membranes. The above research results provide guidance for development of ultra-fine filters in the future.

RESUMO

In recent years, flexible pressure sensing arrays applied in medical monitoring, human-machine interaction, and the Internet of Things have received a lot of attention for their excellent performance. Epidermal sensing arrays can enable the sensing of physiological information, pressure, and other information such as haptics, providing new avenues for the development of wearable devices. This paper reviews the recent research progress on epidermal flexible pressure sensing arrays. Firstly, the fantastic performance materials currently used to prepare flexible pressure sensing arrays are outlined in terms of substrate layer, electrode layer, and sensitive layer. In addition, the general fabrication processes of the materials are summarized, including three-dimensional (3D) printing, screen printing, and laser engraving. Subsequently, the electrode layer structures and sensitive layer microstructures used to further improve the performance design of sensing arrays are discussed based on the limitations of the materials. Furthermore, we present recent advances in the application of fantastic-performance epidermal flexible pressure sensing arrays and their integration with back-end circuits. Finally, the potential challenges and development prospects of flexible pressure sensing arrays are discussed in a comprehensive manner.

RESUMO

Recently, flexible iontronic pressure sensors (FIPSs) with higher sensitivities and wider sensing ranges than conventional capacitive sensors have been widely investigated. Due to the difficulty of fabricating the nanostructures that are commonly used on electrodes and ionic layers by screen printing techniques, strategies for fabricating such devices using these techniques to drive their mass production have rarely been reported. Herein, for the first time, we employed a 2-dimensional (2D) hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) as both an additive and an ionic liquid reservoir in an ionic film, making the sensor printable and significantly improving its sensitivity and sensing range through screen printing. The engineered sensor exhibited high sensitivity (Smin> 261.4 kPa-1) and a broad sensing range (0.05-450 kPa), and it was capable of stable operation at a high pressure (400 kPa) for more than 5000 cycles. In addition, the integrated sensor array system allowed accurate monitoring of wrist pressure and showed great potential for health care systems. We believe that using h-BN as an additive in an ionic material for screen-printed FIPS could greatly inspire research on 2D materials for similar systems and other types of sensors. Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) was employed for the first time to make iontronic pressure sensor arrays with high sensitivity and a broad sensing range by screen printing.

RESUMO

Mangrove wetlands are subjected to pollution due to anthropogenic activities. Mangrove fitness is mainly determined by root exudates and microorganisms activities belowground, but the mechanisms are not yet well known. Rhizospheric interactions among mangrove sediments, microorganisms and root exudates were simulated. In particular, low-molecular-weight organic acids (LMWOA), were examined to explore the metal(loid)s rhizospheric dynamics via batch experiments. Using a combination of comparative sterilised and unsterilised sediments, LMWOA extracts and sediments constituents were examined. Factors such as the solution pH, dissolved organic carbon (DOC), arsenic and iron species and metal(loid)s in the aqueous phase were evaluated. The results show that on an average, the As decreased by 68.3 % and 42.1 % under citric and malic acid treatments, respectively, after sterilisation. In contrast, the As content increased by 29.6 % under oxalic acid treatment. Microorganisms probably facilitate sediment As release in the presence of citric and malic acids but suppress As mobilisation in the presence of oxalic acid. Fe, Mn and Al were significantly (p < 0.05) positively correlated with the trace metal(loid)s (Zn, Pb, Ni, Cu, Cr, Co, Ba, Cd and As). The solution pH was negatively correlated with the solution As. Both DOC and pH reach the peaks at the end of all treatments. The As absorption-desorption dynamics are closely linked to proton consumption, Fe-Mn-Al sedimentation of ageing performance and organic ligand complexation. The study provides an insight into the rhizospheric processes of microbial involvement and gives an enlightening understanding of the metal(loid)s redeployment for plant adaptation in mangrove wetlands.

RESUMO

Objective: The objective of this study is to explore the application of a very important person (VIP) intervention mode in patients with advanced tumors in the western region of China. Methods: One hundred and sixty-three patients were randomly divided into a control and experimental groups. The control group received routine care, and the experimental group received VIP future care. The willingness to end-of-life treatment, decision-making certainty, and quality of life were compared between the two groups before intervention (T0), after intervention (T1), and 1 month after intervention (T2). Results: There were no significant differences in the basic data of the two groups. Unlike the control group, the experimental group preferred palliative care at the end of T1 (P < 0.05), and the acceptance rate of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and mechanical treatment decreased significantly. After the VIP intervention, the patient was transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU) (P < 0.05). After 1 month of intervention (T2), the results showed that the overall quality of life, physical discomfort, negative emotions, care and support, survival predicament, and lifetime value of the patients were significantly higher than those before the intervention (all P < 0.05). Decision certainty results showed that the differences between the T0, T1, and T2 time points and the interaction between groups and time were statistically significant, and the interaction was more significant at T2 (P < 0.05). Conclusion: VIP future care can change patients' wishes for end-of-life care, improve patients' and quality of life, and increase patient decision-making certainty.

RESUMO

Background: Policemen all over the world are tasked with the heavy work of maintaining social security. With the imbalance in mentality brought about by high population density and social transformation, the work of the Chinese police is particularly hard. As the window of demographic dividend is closing and the number of newborns is insufficient, China has started to adjust its established fertility policy to encourage a family to have two children. However, the results have not met the expectations of the policy adjustment. It is generally believed that factors such as high work pressure, high parenting costs, and low levels of happiness may be the main reasons for low fertility intentions. Studying this typical population of police officers may explore the relationship between work stress, happiness, and reproductive concerns, and provide evidence of Chinese sample. Objectives: To explore the relations between job burnout, subjective well-being, and generativity concern in Chinese police officers. Methods: The study used a cross-sectional survey to collect data from 494 police officers from H city in China. The participants completed the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), the Family Adaptability and Cohesion Scale (FACESII), the Loyola Generativity Scale (LGS), and the Satisfaction with life scale (SWLS). Moderated mediation effect models assessed the association between job burnout, subjective well-being, and generativity concern. Results: Job burnout had a significant negative predictive effect on both subjective well-being and generativity concern, and subjective well-being played a mediating role between job burnout and generativity concern. In addition, family intimacy and adaptability had a significant negative moderating effect between subjective well-being and generativity concern. In a conclusion, there is a moderated mediating effect between job burnout and generativity concern. Conclusion: Subjective well-being played a mediating role between job burnout and generativity concern.

RESUMO

As an environmentally friendly water-soluble polymer, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) has attracted extensive attention because of its non-toxic, degradable, low cost, and good biocompatibility. Electrospinning is a kind of nanotechnology, and the nanofiber membrane prepared by it has the advantages of large surface area-to-volume ratios, nano- to micron-sized fibers, etc. Herein, a simple and facile one-step green electrospinning method was developed to fabricate various environmentally friendly PVA nanofiber membranes. The lipophilic properties of PVA membranes were investigated and optimized according different PVA concentrations. The PVA electrospun fiber prepared from the solution at a concentration of 10 wt% had the highest adsorption capacity for the adsorption of new and waste engine oils, and the waste engine oil adsorption capacity (12.70 g/g) was higher than that of new engine oil (11.67 g/g). It also has a relatively large BET surface area (12.05 m2/g), a pore volume (0.04 cm3/g), and an appropriate pore diameter (13.69 nm) and fiber diameter (174.21 nm). All electrospun PVA membranes showed excellent lipophilic properties due to their oil contact angles of much less than 30°. Therefore, PVA electrospun fibrous membranes have great application potential in the field of purifying engine oil due to the excellent lipophilic properties and oil absorption capacity.

RESUMO

This study investigated possible mechanisms for cardioprotective effects of lipoic acid (LA), quercetin (Q) and resveratrol (R) on oxidative stress related to thyroid hormone alterations in long-term obesity. Female C57BL/6 mice were fed on high-fat diet (HFD), HFD+LA, HFD+R, HFD+Q and normal diet for 26weeks. Body weight, blood pressure, thyroid hormones, oxidative stress markers, angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE), nitric oxide synthase (NOS) and ion pump activities were measured, and expression of cardiac genes was analyzed by real-time polymerase chain reaction. HFD induced marked increase (P<.05) in body weight, blood pressure and oxidative stress, while plasma triidothyronine levels reduced. ACE activity increased (P<.05) in HFD mice (0.69±0.225U/mg protein) compared with controls (0.28±0.114U/mg protein), HFD+LA (0.231±0.02U/mg protein) and HFD+Q (0.182±0.096U/mg protein) at 26weeks. Moreover, Na(+)/K(+)-ATPase and Ca(2+)-ATPase activities increased in HFD mice whereas NOS reduced. A 1.5-fold increase in TRα1 and reduction in expression of the deiodinase iodothyronine DIO1, threonine protein kinase and NOS3 as well as up-regulation of AT1α, ACE, ATP1B1, GSK3ß and Cja1 genes also occurred in HFD mice. Conversely, LA, Q and R inhibited weight gain; reduced TRα1 expression as well as increased DIO1; reduced ACE activity and AT1α, ATP1B1 and Cja1 gene expression as well as inhibited GSK3ß; increased total antioxidant capacity, GSH and catalase activity; and reduced blood pressure. In conclusion, LA, resveratrol and quercetin supplementation reduces obesity thereby restoring plasma thyroid hormone levels and attenuating oxidative stress in the heart and thus may have therapeutic potential in heart diseases.

RESUMO

In the search for highly selective and potent cholinesterase inhibitors (AChEI) being able to improve oxidative injury, PMS777, a tetrahydrofuran derivative, was designed as a novel dual PAF and acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. The aim of this study was to investigate the modulatory effects of PMS777 and galanthamine, another AChEI, on the oxidative injury induced in neuronal cells. The SK-N-SH cells stimulated with LPS+IL-(1beta) were selected to investigate the direct inhibitory effect of PMS777 and galanthamine. LPS+IL-(1beta) induced oxidative injury as assessed by ROS production (29%), GSH depletion (11%) and loss of mitochondrial activity (22%). GSH depletion was never decreased by either drug. In contrast, ROS production and mitochondrial activity were totally prevented by addition of PMS777 but not galanthamine. PMS777 also inhibits butylcholinesterase and it shows selectivity for acetylcholinesterase. Thus, this PAF antagonist inaugurates a new type of AChEI, able to fight oxidative injury. Therefore, PMS777 could be of interest on patients with cognitive impairments and inflammatory damage, as in AD.

RESUMO

Mangrove wetlands serve as both a sink and source for arsenic (As), as mangrove plants are able to uptake and accumulate As. The present study used pot experiments to evaluate As accumulation and translocation in mangrove (Aegiceras corniculatum L.) seedlings grown in As contaminated soils. Results indicated that A. corniculatum seedlings grew normally under As stress with minute growth inhibition and biomass reduction at different As treatment concentrations in a range of 0-150 mg·kg(-1). As concentrations in roots, stems and leaves were increased with increasing As treatment concentrations, but As accumulated mainly in roots, with accumulation rates of 74.54%-89.26% of the total As accumulation. In particular, relatively high bioconcentration factor (BCF) in root (2.12-1.79), low BCF in stem (0.44-0.14) and leaf (0.06-0.01), and thereby a low translocation factor (TF) in stem/root (0.21-0.08) and leaf/root (0.02-0.008) were observed. These results demonstrated that A. corniculatum is an As excluder with the innate capacity to tolerate As stress and root tissues may be employed as a bio-indicator of As in polluted sediments. Additionally, A. corniculatum is a potential candidate mangrove species for As phytostabilization in tropical and subtropical estuarine wetlands.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Oxidative stress plays a role in the pathogenesis of many chronic diseases. It is recognized in overt hypothyroidism while its existence in subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) is not well established. The aim of this study was to determine whether there was increased oxidation of lipids and proteins in SCH, and examine their association with lipids and thyroid hormones. METHODS: Male adults (35-59 years) with SCH (n=467) and euthyroid controls (n=190) were studied. Anthropometric measurements, plasma lipids, thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), free thyroxine (FT4), free triiodothyronine (FT3), total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), lipid peroxidation products, malondialdehyde (MDA), advanced oxidation protein products (AOPP) and dityrosine concentrations were measured. RESULTS: Plasma concentrations of MDA were significantly higher (p<0.05) in SCH (8.11±1.39 nmol/mL) compared with euthyroid controls (7.34±1.31 nmol/mL) while AOPP, dityrosine and T-AOC levels were not different. MDA was not associated with TSH (ß=-0.019, P=0.759), FT4 (ß=-0.062, P=0.323) and FT3 (ß=-0.018, P=0.780) in SCH while levels increased with elevated total cholesterol (ß=0.229, P=0.001), LDL (ß=0.203, P=0.009) and triglycerides (ß=0.159, P=0.036) after adjustment for age and body mass index. T-AOC reduced (ß=-0.327, P=0.030) with increased MDA in euthyroid controls and not in SCH (ß=-0.068, P=0.349), while levels increased with elevated triglycerides in both groups. CONCLUSIONS: Oxidative stress was increased in subclinical hypothyroidism as evidenced by the elevated lipid peroxidation product, malondialdehyde, while protein oxidation was absent. Thus, reduction of oxidative stress may be beneficial in patients with subclinical hypothyroidism.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To study the aerodynamic characteristics of crewman's arms with or without protective devices in the status with raised legs or not. METHOD: The experiments were performed in an FL-24 transonic and supersonic wind tunnel, over Mach number range of 0.4-2.0, with 5 degrees-30 degrees angles of attack, 0 degrees - 90 degrees sideslip angles and Re number of (0.93-3.1) x 10(6). The test model was a 1/5-scale crewman/ejection seat combination. The aerodynamic characteristics of the various sections of crewman's arms were studied and analyzed. RESULT: The results showed that 1) The effect of raised leg on the aerodynamic characteristics of the crewman's arms was very evident, and was related to the status of leg raising; 2) The sideslip considerably increased aerodynamic loads on the crewman's arms, in particular when beta=50 degrees the loads was severe in the test; 3) The tested protective devices was valid, the effectiveness of wind deflector in protecting crewman's arms was evident; 4) A formula for calculating aerodynamic force acting on crewman's arms was presented. CONCLUSION: 1)The tested protective devices was valid, and the effectiveness of wind deflector in protecting crewman's arms was evident; 2) An aerodynamic basis for the development of crewman windblast protective device was presented; 3)The calculation formula presented is useful in estimating aerodynamic forces of crewman's arms.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: Both hyperthyroidism and overt hypothyroidism are associated with increased prevalence of metabolic syndrome and its components, while data on subclinical hypothyroidism is currently limited especially in working populations. The aim of this study was to examine the association between subclinical hypothyroidism and metabolic syndrome components in workers; and to evaluate whether there are differences by sex and occupation. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A total of 1150 university employees (male - 792, female - 358) aged 30-60 years who came for an annual medical check-up were studied. Anthropometric measurements were taken, and blood pressure, fasting plasma glucose (FPG), lipid profiles, thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), free thyroxin (FT4) and free triiodothyronine (FT3) levels were measured. RESULTS: After adjustment for age and body mass index (BMI), TSH was positively associated with increased triglyceride (TG) levels (ß = 0.108, p = 0.020) and FPG (ß = 0.130, p = 0.006) in subclinical hypothyroid male workers. However, TSH was not associated (p > 0.05) with any component of metabolic syndrome (MS) in the euthyroid group. In females, TSH was not correlated with MS components in both euthyroid and subclinical hypothyroid groups. Furthermore, comparison by occupation showed higher TSH in subclinical hypothyroid male workers employed in administration (5.23 ± 0.52 mU/l) than those working as academics (5.12 ± 0.52 mU/l), which resulted in elevated systolic and diastolic blood pressure, FPG, total cholesterol, TG and high density lipoprotein cholesterol. In females, BMI, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, TG and FPG were significantly (p < 0.05) higher in subclinical hypothyroid administrators than those in academics. CONCLUSIONS: Subclinical hypothyroidism was associated with metabolic syndrome components in male workers and not in females. Administration workers showed increased metabolic risks compared to academics. The findings suggest that the assessment of thyroid function in individuals with metabolic syndrome in the workplace may be favorable especially among men.
