RESUMO

The unstable electrode-electrolyte interface and the narrow electrochemical window of normal electrolytes hinder the potential application of high-voltage sodium metal batteries. These problems are actually related to the solvation structure of the electrolyte, which is determined by the competition between cations coordinated with anions or solvent molecules. Herein, we design an electrolyte incorporating ethyl (2,2,2-trifluoroethyl) carbonate and fluoroethylene carbonate, which facilitates a pronounced level of cation-anion coordination within the solvation sheath by enthalpy changes to reduce the overall coordination of cation-solvents and increase sensitivity to salt concentration. Such an electrolyte regulated by competitive coordination leads to highly reversible sodium plating/stripping with extended cycle life and a high Coulombic efficiency of 98.0%, which is the highest reported so far in Na||Cu cells with ester-based electrolytes. Moreover, 4.5 V high-voltage Na||Na3V2(PO4)2F3 cells exhibit a high rate capability up to 20 C and an impressive cycling stability with an 87.1% capacity retention after 250 cycles with limited Na. The proposed strategy of solvation structure modification by regulating the competitive coordination of the cation provides a new direction to achieve stable sodium metal batteries with high energy density and can be further extended to other battery systems by controlling enthalpy changes of the solvation structure.

RESUMO

Unidirectional scattering, crucial for manipulating light at the nanoscale, has wide-ranging applications from optical manipulation to sensing. While traditionally achieved through interactions between electric multipoles or between electric and magnetic multipoles, reports on unidirectional scattering driven purely by magnetic multipoles are limited. In this study, we undertake a theoretical exploration of transverse unidirectional scattering induced by magnetic multipoles, employing tightly focused azimuthally polarized beams (APBs) in interaction with a silicon nanodimer comprising two non-concentric nanorings. Through numerical simulations and theoretical analysis, we validate the transverse unidirectional scattering, predominantly governed by magnetic dipolar and quadrupolar resonances. Moreover, the directionality of this unidirectional scattering shows a strong correlation with the longitudinal displacement of the nanodimer within a specific range, showcasing its potential for longitudinal displacement sensing. Our study advances optical scattering control in nanostructures and guides the design of on-chip longitudinal displacement sensors.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To assess the efficacy, safety, and impact on serum cytokines of olopatadine hydrochloride (OLP) combined with desloratadine citrate disodium (DES) in treating urticaria. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 114 urticaria patients treated at the Affiliated Hospital of Xinyang Vocational and Technical College from March 2020 to March 2023. The control group (55 patients) received DES, while the research group (59 patients) received OLP+DES combination therapy. We compared efficacy, safety (including epigastric pain, dry mouth, lethargy, dizziness, and fatigue), changes in serum cytokines (interleukin [IL]-2, IL-4, and interferon [IFN]-γ), symptom resolution (wheal number, wheal size, and itching degree), and 3-month recurrence rates. A univariate analysis was also conducted to identify factors influencing urticaria recurrence. RESULTS: The research group exhibited a significantly higher overall efficacy rate, lower incidence of adverse events, and reduced recurrence rates at 3 months (all P<0.05) compared to the control group. Post-treatment, the research group showed significant increases in IL-2 and IFN-γ levels and reductions in IL-4 levels, wheal number, wheal size, and itching degree (all P<0.05). Factors such as history of drinking/smoking, IL-2 levels, and treatment method were associated with urticaria recurrence (all P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The combination of OLP and DES is an effective and safe treatment option for urticaria, significantly improving serum cytokine profiles, alleviating symptoms, and reducing recurrence risk.

RESUMO

Optical monitoring of the position and alignment of objects with a precision of only a few nanometres is key in applications such as smart manufacturing and force sensing. Traditional optical nanometrology requires precise nanostructure fabrication, multibeam interference or complex postprocessing algorithms, sometimes hampering wider adoption of this technology. Here we show a simplified, yet robust, approach to achieve nanometric metrology down to 2 nm resolution that eliminates the need for any reference signal for interferometric measurements. We insert an erbium-doped quartz crystal absorber into a single Fabry-Pérot cavity with a length of 3 cm and then induce exceptional points by matching the optical loss with the intercavity coupling. We experimentally achieve a displacement response enhancement of 86 times compared with lossless methods, and theoretically argue that an enhancement of over 450 times, corresponding to subnanometre resolution, may be achievable. We also show a fivefold enhancement in the signal-to-noise ratio, thus demonstrating that non-Hermitian sensors can lead to improved performances over the Hermitian counterpart.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To study the effects of skin flap grafting combined with vacuum sealing drainage (VSD) on ulcer area, pain level and serum inflammation in patients with diabetic foot (DF). METHODS: In this retrospective study, 121 patients with DF who were treated in the Affiliated Hospital of Xinyang Vocational and Technical College between April 2018 and April 2022 were included as study subjects, including 50 cases receiving skin flap grafting (control group) and 71 cases receiving skin flap grafting combined with VSD (research group). Information on clinical efficacy, survival rate of the grafted flap, amputation and complications, ulcer area, rehabilitation (granulation tissue formation time, ulcer wound healing time), pain level (Visual Analogue Scale [VAS]), and serum inflammatory factors (interleukin [IL]-6, tumor necrosis factor [TNF]-α, and C-reactive protein [CRP]) were collected for comparative analyses. Univariate and multivariate analyses were conducted to screen the risk factors for patients' prognosis. RESULTS: The overall response rate and the survival rate of the grafted flap in the research group were markedly higher compared with the control group, while the amputation rate was significantly lower (all P<0.05). Besides, the research group exhibited an evidently smaller post-treatment ulcer area, lower VAS, IL-6, TNF-α and CRP levels, and shorter granulation tissue formation time and ulcer wound healing time than the control group (all P<0.05). Neither group of patients experienced significant complications. The use of skin flap grafting + VSD was a protective factor for postoperative outcome. CONCLUSIONS: Skin flap grafting combined with VSD is effective in treating DF patients, which can validly reduce ulcer area and inhibit serum inflammation after treatment, thus accelerating rehabilitation.
