RESUMO

AIMS: Ovarian ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury is a phenomenon that necessitates urgent intervention, which occurs as a result of ovarian torsion, and it is frequently seen in young women. A large amount of free radical and oxidative damage as a result of I/R plays a role in the cause of the incident. Antioxidant agents are thought to be beneficial in preventing this damage, and the potential protective effects of esculetin, which had not been tested previously, were investigated in this study. STUDY DESIGN: The rats in the study were divided into five groups at random: control, sham, esculetin, I/R, and treatment. Oxidative stress parameters, proinflammatory cytokines, nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf-2)/nuclear factor-kß (NF-κß) pathway, and histopathological analyses were evaluated at the end of the study. KEY FINDINGS: After I/R, malondialdehyde levels, proinflammatory cytokines, tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-1ß levels and NF-κß expressions were increased, Nrf-2 expression and glutathione level decreased and the histopathologic picture deteriorated. However, as a result of the esculetin treatment, ameliorative effects in the aforementioned parameters were determined, and it was ensured that they returned to normal levels. CONCLUSION: According to these findings, esculetin has protective effects on I/R damage by lowering lipid peroxidation and having antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. SIGNIFICANCE: Our results proved the protective effect of esculetin against ovarian IR injury in rats and this may be attributed to Nrf-2/NF-κß axis which showed antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Therefore, esculetin can be used in the future for preventive effects to ovarian IR injury.

RESUMO

This study combined network analysis with message-level content analysis to investigate patterns of information flow and to examine messages widely distributed on social media during Hurricane Irma of 2017. The results show that while organisational users and media professionals dominated the top 100 information sources, individual citizens played a critical role in information dissemination. Public agencies should increase their retweeting activities and share the information posted by other trustworthy sources; doing so will contribute to the timely exchange of vital information during a disaster. This study also identified the active involvement of nonprofit organisations as information brokers during the post-event stage, indicating the potential for emergency management organisations to integrate their communication efforts into those of nonprofit entities. These findings will inform emergency management practices regarding implementation of communication plans and policies, facilitate the embracement of new partner organisations, and help with establishing and sustaining effective communication ties with a wide range of stakeholders.

RESUMO

This study examines how county-level emergency management offices (EMOs) used Twitter to communicate with other public agencies and non-profit and for-profit organisations before, during, and after Hurricane Irma in 2017. It assesses the strategies that EMOs and other stakeholders employed to communicate risks on Twitter, concluding that its potential has not been fully exploited. EMOs only frequently interacted with a few non-profit and for-profit organisations, despite their involvement in emergency communication. While EMOs and other public agencies emphasised information dissemination and called on citizens to act and be prepared for the hurricane, non-profits tended to stress service and resource-related information, encouraged others to assist with disaster response, and provided emotional support. For-profits, meanwhile, actively addressed customers' concerns through direct two-way communication. Our findings indicate that EMOs should integrate non-profit and for-profit organisations' communication efforts, engaging them in important conversations on Twitter and advocating the use of highly relevant hashtags at different disaster management stages.

RESUMO

Letrozole is a non-steroidal, third-generation aromatase inhibitor used in humans. Although letrozole is not approved for use in animals, it is used off-label in cases of synchronization and infertility. The aim of this study was to determine the pharmacokinetics of letrozole after a single intravenous administration at three different doses in ewes during the breeding season and its effect on gonadotropins (luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)) at the beginning of proestrus. The study was carried out on 24 healthy Merino ewes. Ewes were randomly divided into four groups (n = 6) as control, 0.5, 1, and 2 mg/kg. Plasma concentrations of letrozole were measured using HPLC-UV and were analyzed by non-compartmental analysis. LH and FSH concentrations were measured with a commercial ELISA kit. The terminal elimination half-life (t1/2ʎz ) was significantly prolonged from 11.82 to 18.44 h in parallel with the dose increase. The dose-normalized area under the concentration-time curve (AUC) increased, and total body clearance (ClT ) decreased at the 1 and 2 mg/kg doses (0.05 L/h/kg) compared with the 0.5 mg/kg dose (0.08 L/h/kg). There were no differences in the volume of distribution at steady-state and initial (C0.083h ) plasma concentration values between dose groups. The decreased ClT , prolonged t1/2ʎz, and increased AUC at increasing doses showed the nonlinear kinetic behavior of letrozole. Letrozole significantly reduced LH concentration without affecting FSH concentration at all doses. As a result, letrozole has the potential to be used in synchronization methods and manipulation of the follicular waves due to its effect on LH secretion.

RESUMO

Metabolic syndrome (MetS) as a cluster of several cardio-metabolic components is rapidly growing public-health problem worldwide and significantly associated with poor cardiovascular outcomes. Increased visceral adiposity activates the important pathways connecting low-grade chronic inflammation, oxidative stress and blood coagulation. Recently, platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) has been evidenced as a novel indirect inflammatory marker. Therefore, for the first time, we aimed to investigate the association of PLR with both the presence and severity of MetS. In this cross-sectional study, a total of 1146 participants were enrolled (n = 539 with MetS and n = 607 without MetS). MetS was defined according to NCEP-ATP III criteria. MetS (+) group revealed significantly higher PLR and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels as compared to MetS (-) group (p < 0.05). There was a graded relationship between increasing number of MetS components and PLR (p < 0.05). Also, PLR was positively correlated with CRP level (r = 0.163, p < 0.001). In multivariate regression analysis, PLR [1.121 (1.113-1.135), p < 0.001], CRP [1.044 (1.029-1.060), p < 0.001], and age [1.030 (1.017-1.043), p < 0.001] were remained as independent predictors for the presence of MetS. In conclusion, our findings showed that increased PLR was significantly associated with both the presence and severity of MetS which was linked to systemic inflammation based on the correlation between PLR and CRP. As PLR is an easily available, simple and cheap indirect indicator of inflammation, it can be used in clinical practice as a predictor of MetS.

RESUMO

An intravenous leiomyomatoma is a rare benign smooth muscle tumour originating from myometrial veins. Surgical resection is the best treatment for intracardiac extension of intravenous leiomyoma. Here we present a very rare case of intravascular and intracardiac leiomyomatosis. We successfully performed one-stage surgery to remove the leiomyomatosis with beating heart under cardiopulmonary bypass.

RESUMO

CONTEXT: Deltamethrin (DLM) is an insecticide commonly used to protect agricultural crops against pests. QT prolongation with malignant ventricular arrhythmias are amongst the most common cardiovascular complications. DLM intoxication cause decreased level of antioxidant enzymes. Glutamine is the precursor of glutathione which is an antioxidant and has been demonstrated to improve outcome after several critical illnesses. OBJECTIVE: We hypothesized that glutamine, by means of antioxidant characteristics, may antagonize the cardiotoxic effects of DLM. MATERIALS AND METHODS: All experiments were performed on 8-week-old male Wistar albino rats. The rats were divided into following groups (n = 10); Group I: control, Group II: l-glutamine, Group III: DLM, Group IV: DLM and after 4 h l-glutamine. Total antioxidant status (TAS), total oxidant status (TOS) and parameter analyses were performed in cardiac tissue. RESULTS: We found that TAS was higher and TOS lower in DLM group. We also found that interstitial edema and inflammatory cell infiltration was significantly more frequent in DLM group and QT and QTc of DLM group were higher than others. DISCUSSION: Recent studies have shown that several special amino acids, such as glutamine, glycine, arginine and taurine, exhibit cytoprotective effect on the cardiocyte, and have established the cardioprotective properties of glutamine. CONCLUSION: In this study, we showed the protective role of glutamine against cardiotoxic effects of DLM in rats. This protective effect was confirmed by showing both tissue level improvement in oxidative stress markers and improvement in prolonged QT interval.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is one of the most common causes of preventable ischemic stroke and is related to increased cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. There is a lack of data in Turkey on the use of new oral anticoagulants (NOACs), and time in therapeutic INR range (TTR) in vitamin K antagonist users and AF management modality. In this multi-center trial, we aimed to analyze, follow and evaluate the epidemiological data in non-valvular AF patients. STUDY DESIGN: Four thousand one hundred consecutive adult patients from 42 centers with at least one AF attack identified on electrocardiography will be included in the study. Patients with rheumatic mitral valve stenosis and prosthetic valve disease will be excluded from the study. At the end of one year, the patients will be evaluated in terms of major cardiac end points (death, transient ischemic attack, stroke, systemic thromboembolism, major bleeding and hospitalization). RESULTS: First results are expected in June 2015. Data about major cardiovascular end-points will be available in January 2016. CONCLUSION: The rates and kind of oral anticoagulant use, TTR in vitamin K antagonist users and main management modality applied in non-valvular AF patients will be determined by AFTER-2 study. In addition, the rate of major adverse events (MACEs) and the independent predictors of these MACEs will be detected (AFTER-2 Study ClinicalTrials.gov number, NCT02354456.).

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Response to infliximab treatment diminishes as body mass index (BMI) increases in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). The purpose of the study was to determine if diminished response to infliximab treatment in patients with AS could be associated with increased visceral adipose tissue rather than increased BMI. METHODS: Twenty six AS patients (21 males and five females) who fulfilled the modified New York criteria and who were currently receiving infliximab treatment were enrolled in the study. Pain was measured by the visual analogue scale (VAS). The disease activity and functional status were assessed by the Bath AS Disease Activity Index (BASDAI) and the Bath AS Functional Index (BASFI). The Bath AS Metrology Index (BASMI) was used to evaluate mobility restrictions. Weight and visceral body composition were measured without shoes in light indoor clothes using a bio-impedance meter. RESULTS: There was a significant correlation between visceral adipose tissue amount and disease activity under infliximab treatment. In correlation analysis, visceral fat showed significant correlations between BASDAI (r=0.545, p=0.004) and VAS (r=0.458, p=0.019). Total body fat also showed a significant correlation with BASDAI (r=0.463, p=0.017). CONCLUSION: A significant correlation was found between visceral adipose tissue amount and disease activity in patients with AS.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Poor sleep quality has an unfavorable impact on autonomic nervous system activity, especially that of the cardiovascular (CV) system. The heart rate (HR) and blood pressure (BP) at rest and during exercise, along with the heart rate recovery (HRR), were examined in poor sleepers and compared with individuals with good sleep quality. METHODS: A total of 113 healthy individuals were enrolled to the study. All participants performed treadmill stress testing. Sleep quality of participants was assessed by using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire: 48 subjects were categorized as 'poor sleepers' (PSQI score > 6 points), and the rest were grouped as 'good sleepers'. RESULTS: The poor sleepers showed higher resting HR (p <0.001), higher diastolic BP (p=0.006), similar systolic BP (p=0.095), more frequent hypertensive response to exercise (p=0.046) and less HR increase with exercise (chronotropic incompetence) (p=0.002) compared with individuals who reported good sleep quality. In addition, the poor sleepers demonstrated reduced heart rate recovery at the 1st and 3rd minute of recovery (p=0.005 and 0.037, respectively) compared with good sleepers. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that only resting diastolic BP was the independent predictor of HRE. The PSQI score was positively correlated with resting HR; while it was negatively correlated with HR response to exercise, HRR1 and HRR index-1. CONCLUSION: This cross-sectional study emphasizes the effect of poor sleep quality on unfavorable cardiovascular outcome indicators of the treadmill stress test.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: In this study, we sought to evaluate atrial electromechanical properties and conduction homogeneity by tissue Doppler imaging and electrocardiography in patients with psoriasis. METHODS: Thirty-four patients with psoriasis and 30 age- and gender-matched healthy controls were included in the study. Atrial electromechanical coupling intervals were assessed by means of tissue Doppler echocardiography and P-wave dispersion (Pd) was calculated from electrocardiogram. RESULTS: A total of 64 subjects (33 male) with a mean age of 36.8 ± 11.9 years were included in the study. Basal characteristics were similar between 2 groups. Intra-atrial (15 ± 7 ms vs. 12 ± 5 ms, P = 0.009) and inter-atrial (28 ± 7 ms vs. 23 ± 7 ms, P = 0.002) electromechanical delays were significantly higher in patients with psoriasis compared with control groups. P-maximum (112 ± 16 ms vs. 103 ± 8 ms, P = 0.006) and Pd (35 ± 9 ms vs. 20 ± 6 ms, P < 0.001) were also prolonged in patients with psoriasis. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrated that atrial electromechanical coupling intervals and P-wave dispersion were prolonged in patients with psoriasis, which may cause an increased risk of atrial fibrillation in this patient group.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Increased epicardial fat thickness (EFT) has been proposed as a new cardiometabolic risk factor. The neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) has predictive and prognostic value in several cardiovascular diseases. The aim of this study was to explore the association between EFT and NLR in patients with pre-eclampsia. METHODS: Hundred and eight pregnant patients with a mean age of 30.6 ± 6.3 years were included in the study. Patients were divided into two groups based on the presence of pre-eclampsia. All participants underwent transthoracic echocardiography imaging, and complete blood counts were measured by an automated hematology analyzer. Statistical analysis was performed using the Chi-square, Mann-Whitney U, correlation and logistic regression tests, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis. RESULT: The mean EFT value of the pre-eclampsia group was significantly higher than the control group (6.9 ± 0.6 versus 5.6 ± 0.6; p < 0.001), and the NLR value of the pre-eclampsia group was also significantly higher than the control group (7.3 ± 3.5 versus 3.1 ± 1.1; p < 0.001). Multivariate analysis showed that increased levels of NLR and echocardiographic EFT are independent predictors of pre-eclampsia. In the receiver operating characteristic analysis, a level of EFT ≥ 6.2 mm and NLR ≥ 4.1 predicted the presence of pre-eclampsia with 77.8% sensitivity, 79.6% specificity and 83.3% sensitivity, 81.5% specificity, respectively. CONCLUSION: Unlike many other inflammatory markers and bioassays, NLR and echocardiographic EFT are inexpensive and readily available biomarkers that may be useful for risk stratification in patients with pre-eclampsia.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Arterial stiffness (AS), the term describes the rigidity of arterial walls, and its hemodynamic results have been shown to be associated with increase in future cardiovascular events. Women with pre-eclampsia in their past pregnancies have a higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease later in life. The goal of this study was to assess AS using a non-invasive and simple oscillometric method in pregnant women with and without pre-eclampsia. METHODS: Ninety pregnant women, forty-five of which had pre-eclampsia, were included in the study. The vascular measurements were performed with a Mobil-O-Graph 24 h PWA Monitor, an automatic oscillometric device. Statistical analysis was performed using the Chi-square, independent sample t-test or the Mann-Whitney U test, Pearson correlation, and linear regression tests. RESULTS: All the vascular function parameters were significantly higher in the patients with pre-eclampsia. The pulse wave velocity (PWV) values found in the pre-eclampsia group were positively correlated with gestational age, maternal age, glucose level, creatinine level, augmentation index, and central blood pressure. Using linear regression analysis, the PWV values were confirmed to be positively correlated with gestational age, maternal age, and central systolic blood pressure. The women with severe pre-eclampsia had significantly higher blood pressures, PWV values, augmentation indices, and cardiac outputs when compared with the patients with mild pre-eclampsia. CONCLUSION: Oscillometric PWV measurement is already accepted as the most reproducible quick, simple, and inexpensive non-invasive method for the assessment of large artery stiffness. It can be applied to evaluate the AS and also aid in detecting future cardiovascular risk of patients with pre-eclampsia.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To analyze (1) the sex-specific and age-bracket defined all-cause and coronary mortality in the 23-years' follow-up of the Turkish Adult Risk Factor Study, and (2) to determine the nation-wide prevalence of Type-2 diabetes and its recent trend. STUDY DESIGN: Information on the mode of death was obtained from first-degree relatives and/or health personnel of local heath office. Information collected in survivors was based on history, physical examination of the cardiovascular system and Minnesota coding of resting electrocardiograms. Diabetes was defined by criteria of the American Diabetes Association without the use of glycated hemoglobin. RESULTS: Of the 1370 participants to be surveyed, 768 were examined, in 452 subjects information was gathered, and 29 men, 18 women were ascertained to have died. Cumulative assessment of the entire cohort in the age bracket 45-74 years disclosed coronary mortality to be 7.5/1000 person-years in men and 3.74 in women, persisting to be high among the European countries. The recent decline observed in overall mortality seemed to halt as well. Of greatest concern was the finding in the past 12 years that the rate of rise in the age-controlled prevalence of Type-2 diabetes was as high as 5% annually. CONCLUSION: Overall and coronary mortality in Turkish adults continue to be high, while an elicited annual increase of 5% in the age-controlled prevalence of diabetes is virtually alarming and requires new public health policies.

RESUMO

This study investigates the relationships between subclinical mastitis and milk quality with selected microRNAs in cow milk. California Mastitis Test (CMT)-positive (n = 20) and negative (n = 20) samples were compared (Experiment I). Additionally, samples with CMT-positive but microbiological-negative, as well as positive for only Staphylococcus subspecies (Staph spp.) and only Streptococcus subspecies (Strep spp.) were examined (Experiment II). Four groups were formed in Experiment II: Group I (CMT and microbiological-negative) (n = 20), Group II (CMT-positive but microbiological-negative) (n = 10), Group III (Staph spp.) (n = 5), Group IV (Strep spp.) (n = 5). While electrical conductivity, somatic cell count (SCC), malondialdehyde (MDA) increased, miR-27a-3p and miR-223 upregulated and miR-125b downregulated in the CMT-positive group in Experiment I. SCC and MDA were higher in CMT-positive groups. miR-27a-3p and miR-223 upregulated in Groups III and IV. While miR-155 is upregulated, miR-125b downregulated in Group IV. Milk fat is positively correlated with miR-148a and miR-223. As miR-27a-3p positively correlated with SCC and MDA, miR-125b negatively correlated with electrical conductivity and SCC. miR-148a and MDA were positively correlated. miR-155 was correlated with fat-free dry matter, protein, lactose, and freezing point. miR-223 was positively correlated with SCC and miR-148a. Results particularly highlight miR-27a-3p and miR-223 as potential biomarkers in subclinical mastitis, especially those caused by Staph spp. and Strep spp., while miR-148a, miR-155, and miR-223 stand out in determining milk quality.

RESUMO

Environmental exposure to electromagnetic radiation (EMR) has been increasing with the increasing demand for communication devices. The aim of the study was to discuss the mechanisms and risk factors of EMR changes on reproductive functions and membrane oxidative biology in females and males. It was reported that even chronic exposure to EMR did not increase the risk of reproductive functions such as increased levels of neoantigens abort. However, the results of some studies indicate that EMR induced endometriosis and inflammation and decreased the number of follicles in the ovarium or uterus of rats. In studies with male rats, exposure caused degeneration in the seminiferous tubules, reduction in the number of Leydig cells and testosterone production as well as increases in luteinizing hormone levels and apoptotic cells. In some cases of male and female infertility, increased levels of oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation and decreased values of antioxidants such as melatonin, vitamin E and glutathione peroxidase were reported in animals exposed to EMR. In conclusion, the results of current studies indicate that oxidative stress from exposure to Wi-Fi and mobile phone-induced EMR is a significant mechanism affecting female and male reproductive systems. However, there is no evidence to this date to support an increased risk of female and male infertility related to EMR exposure.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: We aimed to analyze 1) overall and coronary mortality findings in the Turkish Adult Risk Factor (TARF) study survey 2012 and 2) the temporal trends in prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) and its distribution across seven geographic regions. STUDY DESIGN: Information on the mode of death was obtained from first-degree relatives and/or health personnel of a local health office. Information collected in survivors was based on history, physical examination of the cardiovascular system and Minnesota coding of resting electrocardiograms. RESULTS: Of 1527 participants to be surveyed, 796 were examined; information was obtained on the health status in 502 subjects, and death was ascertained in 56 participants. Thirty deaths were attributed to coronary and cerebrovascular disease. Cumulative 22-year evaluation of participants in the age bracket 45-74 years revealed coronary mortality to be high, with 7.6 per 1000 person-years in men and 3.8 in women. Data used from 1754 identical subjects (median age 46 years initially), and examined in two periods 12 years apart, indicated an increase in the prevalence of MetS by 1.3% per aging of 1 year. Analysis across geographic regions showed a rise in the prevalence in the Mediterranean region, already having highest prevalence along with Southeast Anatolia, while the prevalence declined in the Marmara region and persisted to be lowest in the Aegean region. CONCLUSION: The prevalence of MetS in Turkish adults aged 40 years or over, currently standing at 53%, shows significant differences across geographic regions, being highest in the two southern regions and lowest in the Aegean region.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is composed of a heterogeneous group of disorders marked by increased pulmonary artery resistance leading to right heart failure, with high mortality. Evidence is increasing to propose that inflammation plays a significant role in the pathophysiological mechanism. Increased prevalence of PH in patients with systemic inflammatory diseases is already known. Herein, we sought to evaluate the association between neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (N/L ratio) and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). STUDY DESIGN: Twenty-five patients with PAH and 25 controls were evaluated. Baseline clinical and echocardiographic variables were obtained. Complete blood counts in all patients and controls were reviewed retrospectively. RESULTS: The N/L ratio was higher in patients with PAH compared to healthy volunteers (p=0.05). A cut-off value of 1.65 for N/L ratio predicted the presence of PAH with 72% sensitivity and 69% specificity. After multivariate analysis, only N/L ratio remained a significant predictor of PAH. CONCLUSION: We showed for the first time that N/L ratio was significantly increased in patients with PAH compared to controls.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: Although atrial fibrillation (AF) is one of the most common rhythm disorders observed in clinical practice, a multicenter epidemiological study has not been conducted in our country. This study aimed to assess our clinical approach to AF based upon the records of the first multicenter prospective Atrial Fibrillation in Turkey: Epidemiologic Registry (AFTER) study. STUDY DESIGN: Taking into consideration the distribution of the population in our country, 2242 consecutive patients with at least one AF attack determined by electrocardiographic examination in 17 different tertiary health care centers were included in the study. Inpatients and patients that were admitted to emergency departments were excluded from the study. Epidemiological data of the patients and the treatment administered were assessed. RESULTS: The mean age of the patients was determined as 66.8 ± 12.3 years with female patients representing 60% of the study population. While the most common AF type in the Turkish population was non-valvular AF (78%), persistent/permanent AF was determined in 81% of all patients. Hypertension (%67) was the most common co-morbidity in patients with AF. While a stroke or transient ischemic attack or history of systemic thromboembolism was detected in 15.3% of the patients, bleeding history was recorded in 11.2%. Also, 50% of the patients were on warfarin treatment and 53% were on aspirin treatment at the time of the study. The effective INR level was detected in 41.3% of the patients. The most frequent cause of not receiving anticoagulant therapy was physician neglect. CONCLUSION: These results demonstrate the necessity for improved quality of physician care of patients with AF, especially with regards to antithrombotic therapy.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To report the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of a case of bilateral acute iris transillumination (BAIT) developed after COVID-19 pneumonia. METHOD: Case report. CASE: A 66-year-old male patient with COVID-19 pneumonia received systemic treatments of favipiravir, prednisolone, moxifloxacin and piperacillin-tazobactam during hospitalization. The patient applied to our clinic with the complaint of blurred vision 20 days after the diagnosis of COVID-19. The best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was 0.3 in the right eye and 0.5 in the left eye. In the anterior segment examination; ciliary injection, intense pigment dispersion in the anterior chamber, pigment deposits on the lens and iris, 2-3 + cells in the anterior chamber, posterior synechia, and 360 degrees diffuse iris transillumination were observed in both eyes. The pupillary response to light was weak. Bilateral fundus examination were normal. In the anterior chamber sample; HSV, VZV, CMV and Toxoplasma PCR were negative. Bilateral acute iris transillumination (BAIT) diagnosed in the patient and topical 0.1% dexamethasone and topical 1% cyclopentolate were started. In the follow-up, visual acuity increased 1.0 in both eyes, there were no cells in the anterior chamber, and the pigment dispersion was still continuing despite a decrease. CONCLUSION: BAIT, which can usually be seen after upper respiratory tract infections, can also be seen after covid 19 pneumonia and be kept in mind as a possible eye involvement in patients with COVID-19 infection.
