BACKGROUND: Leptomeningeal metastases (LM) were rare in gastric cancer (GC), and GC patients with LM (GCLM) generally suffer from poor prognosis. Nevertheless, the clinical utility of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) was underinvestigated in GCLM. METHODS: We retrospectively studied 15 GCLM patients, and all patients had paired primary tumor tissue samples and post-LM CSF samples while 5 patients also had post-LM plasma samples. All samples were analyzed using next-generation sequencing (NGS), and the molecular and clinical features were correlated with clinical outcomes. RESULTS: CSF had higher mutation allele frequency (P = 0.015), more somatic mutations (P = 0.032), and more copy-number variations (P < 0.001) than tumor or plasma samples. Multiple genetic alterations and aberrant signal pathways were enriched in post-LM CSF, including CCNE1 amplification and cell cycle-related genes, and CCNE1 amplification was significantly associated with patients' overall survival (P = 0.0062). More potential LM progression-related markers were detected in CSF samples than in tumor samples, including PREX2 mutation (P = 0.014), IGF1R mutation (P = 0.034), AR mutation (P = 0.038), SMARCB1 deletion (P < 0.001), SMAD4 deletion (P = 0.0034), and TGF-beta pathway aberration (P = 0.0038). Additionally, improvement in intracranial pressure (P < 0.001), improvement in CSF cytology (P = 0.0038), and relatively low levels of CSF ctDNA (P = 0.0098) were significantly associated with better PFS. Lastly, we reported a GCLM case whose CSF ctDNA dynamic changes were well correlated with his clinical assessment. CONCLUSIONS: CSF ctDNA could more sensitively detect molecular markers and metastasis-related mechanisms than tumor tissues in GCLM patients, and our study sheds light on utilizing CSF ctDNA in prognostic estimation and clinical assessment in GCLM.

EPA and DHA are essential for maternal and fetal health, but epidemiological data are sparse in China. We examined the trends of EPA alone and a combination of EPA plus DHA in pregnant and lactating women in three distinct geographic regions in China and explored their potential influencing factors. A total of 1015 healthy women during mid-pregnancy, late pregnancy or lactation were recruited from Weihai (coastland), Yueyang (lakeland) and Baotou (inland) cities of China between May and July of 2014. Maternal EPA and DHA concentrations (percentage of total fatty acids) in plasma and erythrocytes were measured by capillary GC. Adjusted EPA plus DHA concentrations in both plasma and erythrocytes significantly declined from mid-pregnancy (2·92 %, 6·95 %) to late pregnancy (2·20 %, 6·42 %) and lactation (2·40 %, 6·29 %) (Ptrend < 0·001); and both concentrations were highest in coastland, followed by lakeland, and lowest in inland (P < 0·001). Regarding EPA alone, the concentrations were higher in women during lactation or late pregnancy and in women in coastland and inland areas. Moreover, concentrations of EPA or EPA plus DHA were higher in women with older age, higher education, higher annual family income per capita and higher dietary intake of marine aquatic product and mutton. In lactating women, erythrocyte EPA concentration was higher in those having breast-feeding partially v. exclusively. In conclusion, maternal plasma and erythrocyte concentrations of EPA plus DHA or EPA alone differed with geographic regions, physiological periods and maternal characteristics, indicating a need of population-specific health strategies to improve fatty acids status in pregnant and lactating women.

OBJECTIVE: To compare the outcomes of monochorionic triamniotic (MCTA) triplets managed expectantly with those reduced to twins. METHOD: This was a retrospective cohort study comparing expectant management (EM) with fetal reduction (FR) to twins in 43 consecutive MCTA triplets with 3 live fetuses at 11-14 weeks between 2012 and 2021. RESULTS: Nineteen patients managed expectantly and 24 triplets reduced to twins were included. The rate of pregnancy with at least one survivor was 84.2% in the EM group and 66.7% in the FR group (P = 0.190). Compared to the EM cases, triplets reduced to twins had a higher median gestational age at delivery (36.0 vs. 33.3 weeks; P < 0.001), a higher mean birth weight (2244.3 ± 488.6 g vs. 1751.1 ± 383.2 g; P < 0.001) and a lower risk of preterm birth before 34 weeks (11.8% vs. 64.7%; P = 0.001). There were no significant differences in the risk of miscarriage, pregnancy complications and composite adverse neonatal outcomes. CONCLUSION: In MCTA triplets, FR to twins could reduce the risk of preterm birth, whereas EM seems to be a reasonable choice when the priority is at least one survivor. However, due to the small sample size of this study, these findings must be interpreted with great caution.

Excessive gestational weight gain (GWG) increases the risk of maternal anaemia during pregnancy, but whether it is associated with offspring anaemia has not been investigated. We aimed to prospectively investigate the association of GWG rate in the second/third trimester with infant Hb concentration and anaemia risk. The present study comprised 13 765 infants born during 2006-2009 to mothers who participated in a trial on prenatal micronutrient supplementation. The GWG was calculated by subtracting the maternal weight at enrolment from that at end-pregnancy. The GWG rate was calculated as dividing the GWG by number of weeks between the two measurements and classified into quintiles within each category of maternal BMI. Infant Hb concentrations were measured at 6 and 12 months of age, and anaemia was defined as an Hb concentration <110 g/l. Of the 13 765 infants, 949 (6·9 %) were anaemic at 6 months and 728 (5·3 %) at 12 months. The GWG rate was inversely and linearly associated with the infant Hb concentrations at both 6 and 12 months (P < 0·001 for linearity). Compared with the middle quintile of GWG rate, the highest quintile was associated with an increased risk of anaemia at 6 months (adjusted OR 1·30, 95 % CI 1·07, 1·59) and 12 months (adjusted OR 1·74, 95 % CI 1·40, 2·17). The associations were consistently mediated by maternal anaemia during pregnancy (P < 0·001). In conclusion, excessive GWG rate appears to be associated with an increased risk of infant anaemia, partly independent of maternal anaemia during pregnancy that mediates the association.

Stress adaptation disorder exists in gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) women, this study was to investigate the impact of stress adaptation disorder on glucose disposal and skeletal muscle glucose transporter4 (GLUT4) expression in GDM rat model. Rats were assigned randomly to Normal control (NC) group and GDM group. We analyzed the levels of corticosterone, epinephrine (E), norepinephrine (NE), malondialdehyde (MDA) and superoxide dismutase (SOD), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and expression of GLUT4 were also detected. Homeostasis model assessment (HOMA-IR) was used to evaluate insulin resistance. Compared with NC group, E, NE and Corticosterone were increased significantly, SOD and MDA were higher and GLUT4 expression was significantly lower in GDM rats. Corticosterone was positively related to MDA, MDA was positively and SOD was negatively related to HOMA-IR in both groups, IL-6 showed significant positive correlations with HOMA-IR. NE and Corticosterone were negative related to GLUT4 in GDM group. Stress hormones (E, NE and Corticosterone), MDA and IL-6 were the risk factors of GDM, SOD was the protective factor of GDM. Changes of stress hormones indicate that stress adaptation disorder exists in GDM rats. Stress adaptation disorder increase oxidative stress injury and inflammation, decrease GLUT4 and lead to incline of glucose uptake, result in hyperglycemia. Gaining an insight into correlations of these changes may be beneficial to maternal and child health and is important for the prevention of glycemia-related diseases.

BACKGROUND: Tuberculosis (TB) is an important public health issue worldwide. However, evidence concerning the impact of environmental factors on TB is sparse. We performed a retrospective analysis to determine the spatiotemporal trends and geographic variations of, and the factors associated with, the TB prevalence in Inner Mongolia. METHODS: We performed a retrospective analysis of the epidemiology of TB. A Bayesian spatiotemporal model was used to investigate the spatiotemporal distribution and trends of the TB prevalence. A spatial panel data model was used to identify factors associated with the TB prevalence in the 101 counties of Inner Mongolia, using county-level aggregated data collected by the Inner Mongolia Center for Disease Control and Prevention. RESULTS: From January 2010 to December 2014, 79,466 (6.36‱) incident TB cases were recorded. The TB prevalence ranged from 4.97‱ (12,515/25,167,547) in 2014 to 7.49‱ (18,406/ 24,578,678) in 2010; the majority of TB cases were in males, and in those aged 46-60 years; by occupation, farmers and herdsmen were the most frequently affected. The Bayesian spatiotemporal model showed that the overall TB prevalence decreased linearly from 2010 to 2014 and occupation-stratified analyses yielded similar results, corroborating the reliability of the findings. The decrease of TB prevalence in the central-western and eastern regions was more rapid than that in the overall TB prevalence. A spatial correlation analysis showed spatial clustering of the TB prevalence from 2011 to 2014 (Moran's index > 0, P < 0.05); in the spatial panel data model, rural residence, birth rate, number of beds, population density, precipitation, air pressure, and sunshine duration were associated with the TB prevalence. CONCLUSIONS: The overall TB prevalence in Inner Mongolia decreased from 2010 to 2014; however, the incidence of TB was high throughout this period. The TB prevalence was influenced by a spatiotemporal interaction effect and was associated with epidemiological, healthcare, and environmental factors.

BACKGROUND: As an insulin-dependent disease, type 1 diabetes requires paying close attention to the glycemic control. Studies have shown that mobile health (mHealth) can improve the management of chronic diseases. However, the effectiveness of mHealth in controlling the glycemic control remains uncertain. The objective of this study was to carry out a systematic review and meta-analysis using the available literature reporting findings on mHealth interventions, which may improve the management of type 1 diabetes. METHODS: We performed a systematic literature review of all studies in the PubMed, Web of Science, and EMbase databases that used mHealth (including mobile phones) in diabetes care and reported glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) values as a measure of glycemic control. The fixed effects model was used for this meta-analysis. RESULTS: This study analyzed eight studies, which involved a total of 602 participants. In the meta-analysis, the fixed effects model showed a statistically significant decrease in the mean of HbA1c in the intervention group: - 0.25 (95% confidence interval: - 0.41, - 0.09; P = 0.003, I2 = 12%). Subgroup analyses indicated that the patient's age, the type of intervention, and the duration of the intervention influenced blood glucose control. Funnel plots showed no publication bias. CONCLUSIONS: Mobile health interventions may be effective among patients with type 1 diabetes. A significant reduction in HbA1c levels was associated with adult age, the use of a mobile application, and the long-term duration of the intervention.

BACKGROUND: Hypertension is a major risk factor for the global burden of disease, particularly in countries that are not economically developed. This study aimed to evaluate risk factors associated with self-reported hypertension among residents of Inner Mongolia using a cross-sectional study and to explore trends in the rate of self-reported hypertension. METHODS: Multi-stage stratified cluster sampling was used to survey 13,554 participants aged more than 15 years residing in Inner Mongolia for the 2013 Fifth Health Service Survey. Hypertension was self-reported based on a past diagnosis of hypertension and current use of antihypertensive medication. Adjusted odds risks (ORs) of self-reported hypertension were derived for each independent risk factor including basic socio-demographic and clinical factors using multivariable logistic regression. An optimized risk score model was used to assess the risk and determine the predictive power of risk factors on self-reported hypertension among Inner Mongolia residents. RESULTS: During study period, self-reported hypertension prevalence was 19.0% (2571/13,554). In multivariable analyses, both female and minority groups were estimated to be associated with increased risk of self-reported hypertension, adjusted ORs (95% CI) were 1.22 (1.08, 1.37) and 1.66 (1.29, 2.13) for other minority compared with Han, increased risk of self-reported hypertension prevalence was associated with age, marital status, drinking, BMI, and comorbidity. In the analyses calculated risk score by regression coefficients, old age (≥71) had a score of 12, which was highest among all examined factors. The predicted probability of self-reported hypertension was positively associated with risk score. Of 13,421 participants with complete data, 284 had a risk score greater than 20, which corresponded to a high estimated probability of self-reported hypertension (≥67%). CONCLUSIONS: Self-reported hypertension was largely related to multiple clinical and socio-demographic factors. An optimized risk score model can effectively predict self-reported hypertension. Understanding these factors and assessing the risk score model can help to identify the high-risk groups, especially in areas with multi-ethnic populations.

BACKGROUND: Aggression is a disposition, a willingness to inflict harm, regardless of whether this is behaviourally or verbally expressed and regardless of whether physical harm is sustained.De-escalation is a psychosocial intervention for managing people with disturbed or aggressive behaviour. Secondary management strategies such as rapid tranquillisation, physical intervention and seclusion should only be considered once de-escalation and other strategies have failed to calm the service user. OBJECTIVES: To investigate the effects of de-escalation techniques in the short-term management of aggression or agitation thought or likely to be due to psychosis. SEARCH METHODS: We searched Cochrane Schizophrenia Group's Study-Based Register of Trials (latest search 7 April, 2016). SELECTION CRITERIA: Randomised controlled trials using de-escalation techniques for the short-term management of aggressive or agitated behaviour. We planned to include trials involving adults (at least 18 years) with a potential for aggressive behaviour due to psychosis, from those in a psychiatric setting to those possibly under the influence of alcohol or drugs and/or as part of an acute setting as well. We planned to include trials meeting our inclusion criteria that provided useful data. DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS: We used the standard methodological procedures expected by Cochrane. Two review authors inspected all abstracts of studies identified by the search process. As we were unable to include any studies, we could not perform data extraction and analysis. MAIN RESULTS: Of the 345 citations that were identified using the search strategies, we found only one reference to be potentially suitable for further inspection. However, after viewing the full text, it was excluded as it was not a randomised controlled trial. AUTHORS' CONCLUSIONS: Using de-escalation techniques for people with psychosis induced aggression or agitation appears to be accepted as good clinical practice but is not supported by evidence from randomised trials. It is unclear why it has remained such an under-researched area. Conducting trials in this area could be influenced by funding flow, ethical concerns - justified or not - anticipated pace of recruitment as well the difficulty in accurately quantifying the effects of de-escalation itself. With supportive funders and ethics committees, imaginative trialists, clinicians and service-user groups and wide collaboration this dearth of randomised research could be addressed.

The objectives of this study were to describe the nutritional status of Chinese patients with gastrointestinal cancer undergoing surgery and to compare the ease of use, diversity, and concordance of the Nutritional Risk Screening 2002 with the Subjective Global Assessment in the same patients. A total of 280 gastrointestinal cancer patients admitted for elective surgery were evaluated by the Nutritional Risk Screening 2002 (NRS 2002) and Subjective Global Assessment (SGA) tools within 48 hours of admission from April to October 2012. Related opinions about ease of using the tools were obtained from 10 nurses. The prevalence of patients at nutritional risk with the SGA and NRS 2002 was 33.9% and 53.2% on admission. In the total group, ≤70 age group, and >70 age group, respectively, consistency was observed in 214 (76.4%), 175 (91.1%), and 39 (44.3%); and kappa values were 0.54 (p < .001), 0.81 (p < .001), and 0.085 (p = .096). McNemar paired chi-square test showed a significant difference between the NRS 2002 and SGA in the total group and >70 age group (p < .001); however, no difference was observed in the ≤70 age group (p = .14). Nurses reported ease of use of the NRS 2002 as a "very easy" or "easy" to complete (3-5 minutes) and the SGA as an "easy" or "fair" tool to complete (5-10 minutes). The diversity and concordance between the SGA and NRS 2002 were varied in different age groups. The NRS 2002 is more suitable in nursing practice than the SGA to identify the nutritional status of patients with gastrointestinal cancer undergoing surgery, but it appeared to detect more patients at nutritional risk in the >70 age group.

In order to facilitate the application of underwater laser welding technology in in situ repairs of nuclear power plants, this study conducted comparative experiments between local dry underwater laser welding and laser welding in air on 304NG nitrogen-controlled stainless steel. The aim was to explore its microstructural evolution and mechanical properties in underwater environments. It was found that, near the fusion line of laser welding in air, columnar dendrites gradually evolved into cellular dendrites toward the weld center, eventually disappearing, resulting in a skeletal ferrite and serrated austenite structure. The underwater laser welding joints exhibited similar characteristics yet with more pronounced alternation between columnar and cellular dendrites. Additionally, the size of cellular dendrites decreased significantly, and needle-like ferrite was observed at the weld center. The hardness of underwater laser welded joints was slightly higher than that of in-air laser welded joints. Compared to laser welding in air, the strength of underwater laser welding joints increased from 443 MPa to 471 MPa, and the displacement increased from 2.95 mm to 3.45 mm, both types of welded joints exhibited a mixed mode fracture characterized by plasticity and brittleness.

A mass transfer model to predict the transport processes of magnesium and lithium ions through porous media in salt lakes has been proposed, which is a combination of the extended Nernst-Planck equation and Donnan effect, accounting for ion diffusion, electromigration, and convection within membrane pores. First, the morphological structure, thickness, surface roughness, and hydrophilicity of the membrane were characterized as fixed parameters, indicating that the surface of the nanofiltration membrane is smooth with low roughness and strong hydrophilicity, resulting in a lower desalination rate but higher water flux. Subsequently, numerical calculations based on the model were conducted to establish a reasonable transport equation for predicting the concentration and retention rate of the main magnesium and lithium ions. When compared with the experimental results, a deviation of less than 5.5% is obtained, confirming the accuracy of the model in describing ion mass transfer. Finally, computational fluid dynamics techniques were employed to simulate the model equations in both the feed and permeate subdomains, demonstrating that the flow characteristics align with reality. Thus, the established transport model exhibits higher predictive accuracy for NF ion separation than one-dimensional models.

Maternal and paternal age at birth is increasing globally. Maternal age may affect perinatal outcomes, but the effect of paternal age and its joint effect with maternal age are not well established. This prospective, multicenter, cohort analysis used data from the University Hospital Advanced Age Pregnant Cohort Study in China from 2016 to 2021, to investigate the separate association of paternal age and joint association of paternal and maternal age with adverse perinatal outcomes. Of 16,114 singleton deliveries, mean paternal and maternal age (± SD) was 38.0 ± 5.3 years and 36.0 ± 4.1 years. In unadjusted analyses, older paternal age was associated with increased risks of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, preeclampsia, placenta accreta spectrum disorders, placenta previa, cesarean delivery (CD), and postpartum hemorrhage, preterm birth (PTB), large-for-gestational-age, macrosomia, and congenital anomaly, except for small-for-gestational-age. In multivariable analyses, the associations turned to null for most outcomes, and attenuated but still significant for GDM, CD, PTB, and macrosomia. As compare to paternal age of < 30 years, the risks in older paternal age groups increased by 31-45% for GDM, 17-33% for CD, 32-36% for PTB, and 28-31% for macrosomia. The predicted probabilities of GDM, placenta previa, and CD increased rapidly with paternal age up to thresholds of 36.4-40.3 years, and then plateaued or decelerated. The risks of GDM, CD, and PTB were much greater for pregnancies with younger paternal and older maternal age, despite no statistical interaction between the associations related to paternal and maternal age. Background: Concerns have been raised about the increasing prevalence of both spontaneous and induced abortions worldwide, yet their effect on premature mortality remains poorly understood. We aimed to examine the associations between abortion and all-cause and cause-specific premature mortality, and the potential effect modification by maternal characteristics. Methods: Women aged 39 to 71 years at baseline (2006 to 2010) with prior pregnancies were derived from the UK Biobank and categorized as no abortion history, spontaneous abortion alone, induced abortion alone, and both spontaneous and induced abortions. All-cause and cause-specific mortality were ascertained through linkage to death certificate data, with premature death defined as occurring before the age of 70. Results: Of the 225,049 ever gravid women, 43,418 (19.3%) reported spontaneous abortion alone, 27,135 (12.1%) reported induced abortion alone, and 10,448 (4.6%) reported both spontaneous and induced abortions. During a median of 14.4 years of follow-up, 5,353 deaths were recorded, including 3,314 cancer-related and 1,444 cardiovascular deaths. Compared with no abortion history, spontaneous abortion alone was associated with an increased risk of all-cause premature mortality (adjusted hazard ratio [aHR] 1.10, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.02 to 1.17), and induced abortion alone was associated with increased risks of all-cause (aHR 1.12, 95% CI 1.04 to 1.22) and cardiovascular mortality (aHR 1.27, 95% CI 1.09 to 1.48). The aHRs for all-cause and cardiovascular mortality were higher for recurrent abortions, whether spontaneous or induced (P trend < 0.05). The increased risk of all-cause mortality associated with induced abortion was higher in women with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy than in those without (40% vs. 9%, P interaction = 0.045). Conclusions: Either spontaneous or induced abortion alone was associated with an increased risk of premature mortality, with induced abortion alone particularly linked to cardiovascular death. Future studies are encouraged to explore the underlying mechanisms.

Background: In many clinical situations, it is critical to exclude or identify abnormally lymph nodes (LNs). The nature of superficial abnormally LNs is closely related to the stage, treatment, and prognosis of the disease. Ultrasound (US) is an important method for examining superficial LNs due to its cheap and safe characteristics. However, it is still difficult to determine the nature of some LNs with overlapping benign and malignant features in images. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) can be used to evaluate the microperfusion status of tissues in real time, and it can improve diagnostic accuracy to a certain extent. Therefore, in this study, we will analyze the correlation between CEUS quantitative parameters and benign and malignant superficial abnormally LNs, to evaluate the efficacy and value of CEUS in distinguishing benign and malignant superficial LNs. Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed 120 patients of abnormal LNs who underwent US and CEUS at the China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University from December 2020 to August 2023. All 120 cases of abnormal LNs underwent US-guided coarse needle biopsy, and accurate pathological results were obtained, along with complete US and CEUS images. According to the pathological results, LNs were divided into benign and malignant groups, and the qualitative and quantitative parameters of US and CEUS between the two groups were analyzed. The cutoff value is determined by the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve of the subjects, and sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy are applied to evaluate the ability of the cutoff value to distinguish between the two groups. Results: There were a total of 120 LNs, including 36 in the benign group and 84 in the malignant group. The results showed that malignant LNs were usually characterized by the disappearance of lymphatic hilum, round ness index (L/T) <2, irregular morphology, and the manifestation of uneven perfusion (P<0.05). The differences in the quantitative parameters peak enhancement (PE), rise time (RT), time to peak (TTP), wash-in rate (WIR), and wash-out rate (WOR) were statistically significant (P<0.05). The result showed that RT and TTP in the malignant LNs were higher than those in the benign LNs, while the PE, WIR, and WOR were lower. A comparison of the ∆ values showed that the differences in ∆PE, ∆WIR, and ∆fall time (FT) were statistically significant (P<0.05), Among them, the ∆PE and ∆WIR of malignant LNs were higher than those of benign LNs, while the ∆FT was lower than that of benign LNs. Conclusions: Quantitative analysis of CEUS features is valuable in the diagnosis of benign and malignant LNs, and US combined with CEUS helps to improve the accuracy of identifying the nature of LNs.

OBJECTIVE: To examine the association between the combination of central and general obesity measures and the risk of pelvic organ prolapse (POP). METHODS: Waist/height ratio and body mass index (BMI, calculated as weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared) for 251,143 participants (aged 39-71 years) without pre-existing POP from the UK Biobank were collected at enrollment between 2006 and 2010. Participants were followed through December 19, 2022. Incident POP was identified using International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision codes and operating procedure codes in the medical records. Cox proportional hazards model was used to estimate the association between obesity measures and incident POP. Population-attributable fractions were calculated to indicate the proportion of cases that were attributable to obesity measures. RESULTS: During a median follow-up of 13.8 years, 9,781 POP cases were recorded. Central obesity (waist/height ratio 0.5 or greater) was associated with a 48% increased risk of POP regardless of BMI (hazard ratio [HR] 1.48; 95% CI, 1.41-1.56). Approximately 21.7% (95% CI, 19.1-24.4%) of all POP cases were attributable to central obesity. In addition, overweight without central obesity (BMI 25-29.9 and waist/height ratio less than 0.5) was associated with a 23% higher risk of POP (HR 1.23; 95% CI, 1.14-1.34), and this accounted for 2.0% (95% CI, 1.1-2.9%) of all POP cases. The magnitude of increased POP risk associated with central obesity varied by age (younger than 60 years vs 60 years or older: 57% vs 39%) and by history of hysterectomy (no vs yes: 54% vs 27%). CONCLUSION: Central obesity and overweight without central obesity are risk factors for POP.

When organic matter, especially sodium oxalate (Na2C2O4), accumulates to a certain extent, it will seriously affect the alumina production process in the refinery and therefore urgently needs to be removed. This work attempts to illuminate the benefits of ultrasonic intensification of the crystallization process of Na2C2O4, taking the alumina refinery waste liquor, i.e., flat plate washing liquor, as a case study. The effects of different operating parameters (seed crystal addition amount, caustic soda concentration, reaction time, ultrasonic power) on the crystallization behavior and yield are discussed, and it is found that ultrasonic can increase the Na2C2O4 removal rate to 70.4%. The addition of ultrasonic promotes the morphological evolution of Na2C2O4 and is of great significance to the optimization of the components of the precipitated Na2C2O4. Specifically, the proportion of Na2C2O4 in the crystallized product reaches 64% with conventional conditions, while it reaches 77% with ultrasonic conditions. Therefore, ultrasonic can greatly reduce the alkali loss caused by the crystallization process of Na2C2O4 in flat plate washing liquor, which has great economic benefits.

Micro/nanomaterials are widely used in optoelectronics, environmental materials, bioimaging, agricultural industries, and drug delivery owing to their marvelous features, such as quantum tunneling, size, surface and boundary, and Coulomb blockade effects. Recently, microreactor technology has opened up broad prospects for green and sustainable chemical synthesis as a powerful tool for process intensification and microscale manipulation. This review focuses on recent progress in the microreactor synthesis of micro/nanomaterials. First, the fabrication and design principles of existing microreactors for producing micro/nanomaterials are summarized and classified. Afterwards, typical examples are shown to demonstrate the fabrication of micro/nanomaterials, including metal nanoparticles, inorganic nonmetallic nanoparticles, organic nanoparticles, Janus particles, and MOFs. Finally, the future research prospects and key issues of microreactor-based micro/nanomaterials are discussed. In short, microreactors provide new ideas and methods for the synthesis of micro/nanomaterials, which have huge potential and inestimable possibilities in large-scale production and scientific research.

In this study, a new metallurgical system for treating electrolytic manganese anode sludge by microwave roasting and alkaline leaching system was developed, and the lead leaching behaviour was studied. The XRD results show that Pb in anode sludge is mainly in the form of PbSO4 after microwave roasting at 850°C, as a result, the leaching rate of Pb is improved. The results show that the leaching rate of lead can reach 93.89% under the conditions of liquid-solid ratio of 7:1, leaching time of 30 min, leaching temperature of 40°C, and the concentration of sodium hydroxide of 8%. The addition of tartaric acid can further improve the lead leaching rate, FT-IR analysis showed that the coordination form of lead and tartaric acid. Lead and tartaric acid ions (L) form three coordination compounds, PbL, Pb2L2 and Pb2L3, which can only exist in alkaline solution.
