RESUMO

The large-scale commercialization of the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) necessitates the development of cost-effective and highly efficient electrocatalysts. Although transition metal sulfides, such as MoS2 and Ni3 S2 , hold great potential in the field of HER, their catalytic performance has been unsatisfactory due to incomplete exposure of active sites and poor electrical conductivity. In this work, via a simple hydrothermal strategy, amorphous MoS2 nanoshells in the form of urchin-like MoS2 -Ni3 S2 core-shell heterogeneous structure is realized and in situ loaded on nickel foam (A-MoS2 -Ni3 S2 -NF). In particular, XPS analysis results show that the coupling of amorphous MoS2 and Ni3 S2 makes the electrode surface exhibit electron-abundant property, which will have a positive impact on HER catalytic activity. In addition, the fully exposed active site of amorphous MoS2 is another crucial factor contributing to its high catalytic performance of A-MoS2 -Ni3 S2 -NF electrode. In particular, at a current density of 10 mA cm⁻2 , the overpotential of electrode is 95 mV (1.0 m KOH) and 145 mV (0.5 m H2 SO4 ). This work highlights the importance of amorphous MoS2 and MoS2 -Ni3 S2 of sea-urchin core-shell structure in optimizing HER performance, which provides an important reference for HER research.

The complete genome sequence of a positive-sense single-stranded RNA (+ ssRNA) virus, Rhizoctonia beny-like virus 1 (RBLV1), isolated from binucleate Rhizoctonia AG-A strain A46, was determined. The RBLV1 genome is 10,280 nt in length and contains a short stretch of adenines at the 3' terminus. It contains a single open reading frame (ORF) encoding a 376.30-kDa protein with viral helicase and RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) motifs. The encoded protein exhibited the highest sequence similarity to Rhizoctonia cerealis beny-like virus 0928-1 (RcBeLV 0928-1, 45.25%), with a sequence coverage of 63%. Phylogenetic analysis based on ORF protein sequences revealed that RBLV1 is a novel unclassified mycovirus.

The Chinese white wax scale insect (CWWSI), Ericerus pela, can secret an amount of wax equivalent to their body weight. Previous studies demonstrated the fatty acyl-CoA reductase (far3) plays a pivotal role in wax secretion of CWWSI. The high expression of far3 is crucial for the massive wax secretion. However, the transcription regulation of far3 was not clear. To identify regulatory factors that control the expression of far3, the assay for transposase-accessible chromatin (ATAC) and yeast one-hybrid (Y1H) were carried out in this study. The ATAC sequencing of the CWWSI at the early wax-secretion stage ATAC-seq resulted in 22.75 GB raw data, generated 75,827,225 clean reads and revealed 142,771 peaks. There was one significant peak in the 3 kb upstream regulation regions. The peak sequence is located between -1000 and -670 bp upstream of the far3 transcription start site, spanning a length of 331 bp. This peak sequence served as bait for creating the pAbAi-peak recombinant vector, used in Y1H screenings to identify proteins interacting with far3 gene. The results indicate a successful CWWSI cDNA library construction with a capacity of 1.2 × 107 colony forming unit, a 95.8% recombination rate, and insert sizes between 1,000 and 2,000 bp. Self-activation tests established that 100 ng/mL of AbA effectively inhibited bait vector self-activation. Finally, a total of 88 positive clones were selected. After sequencing and removal of duplication, 63 unique clones were obtained from these screened colonies. By aligning the clone sequences with full-length transcriptome and genome of CWWSI, the full-length coding sequences of these clones were obtained. BlastX analysis identified a transcription factor, nuclear transcription factor Y beta, and two co-activators, cAMP-response-element-binding-protein-binding protein and WW domain binding protein 2. Reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction analysis confirmed that their expression patterns were consistent with the developmental stages preceding wax secretion and matched the wax secretion characteristics during ovulation periods. These results are beneficial for further research into the regulatory mechanisms of wax secretion of CWWSI.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to measure the incidence of parastomal hernia (PH) after radical cystectomy and ileal conduit. Secondary aims were the identification of risk factors for PH and to compare the health-related quality of life (QOL) between patients with and without PH. DESIGN: Retrospective review of medical records combined with cross-sectional administration of the QOL instrument and telephone follow-up. SUBJECTS AND SETTING: The study sample comprised 219 patients who underwent radical cystectomy and ileal conduit for urothelial cancer between February 2014 and December 2018. The study setting was Peking University First Hospital (Beijing, China). METHODS: Demographic and pertinent clinical data, including development of PH, were gathered via the retrospective review of medical records. Participants were also asked to complete the traditional Chinese language version of the City of Hope Quality of Life-Ostomy Questionnaire (C-COH). Multiple linear regression analysis was used to identify the effect of PH on C-COH scores. Logistic regression analysis was used to identify risk factors for PH development. RESULTS: At a median follow-up of 34 months (IQR = 21-48), 43 of 219 (19.63%) patients had developed a PH. A body mass index (BMI) indicating overweight (OR = 3.548; 95% CI, 1.562-8.061; P = .002), a prior history of hernia (OR = 5.147; 95% CI, 1.195-22.159; P = .028), and chronic high abdominal pressure postdischarge (CHAP-pd) (OR = 3.197; 95% CI, 1.445-7.075; P = .004) were predictors of PH after operation. There was no significant difference between C-COH scores of patients with or without PH. No significant differences were found when participants with PH were compared to those without PH on 4 factors of the C-COH: physical scores (ß= .347, P = .110), psychological scores (ß= .316, P = .070), spiritual scores (ß=-.125, P = .714), and social scores (ß= .054, P = .833). CONCLUSION: Parastomal hernia is prevalent in patients undergoing radical cystectomy and ileal conduit urinary diversion. Overweight, hernia history, and CHAP-pd were predictors of PH development. No significant differences in QOL were found when patients with PH were compared to those without PH.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the predictive value of preoperative pelvic floor electromyography (EMG) parameters for the risk of urinary incontinence after prostate cancer surgery. METHODS: This study retrospectively analyzed the medical records of 271 patients who underwent radical prostatectomy in the urology department of Peking University First Hospital from January 2020 to October 2022. The data included patient age, body mass index (BMI), international prostate symptom score (IPSS), prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, Gleason score, type of surgery, urethral reconstruction, lymph node dissection, nerve preservation, catheterization duration, D ' Amico risk classification, American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) score, Charlson comorbidity index, postoperative duration, prostate volume, and pelvic floor EMG parameters (pre-resting mean, fast muscle mean, and slow muscle mean scores). Independent risk factors affecting early postoperative urinary incontinence were identified through multivariate Logistic regression analysis. The predictive efficacy of pelvic floor EMG results was evaluated by calculating the area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, and the optimal threshold for early postoperative urinary incontinence was determined based on the Youden index and clinical significance. RESULTS: The study included 271 prostate cancer patients, with an 81.9% rate of voluntary urinary control post-surgery. The median score for fast pelvic floor muscles was 23.5(18.2, 31.6), and for slow muscles, it was 12.5(9.6, 17.3). Among the patients, 179 (66.1%) did not preserve nerves, and 110 (40.6%) underwent urethral reconstruction. Advanced age and low fast muscle scores were identified as independent risk factors for urinary incontinence. Patients aged ≤60 had 5.482 times the voluntary urinary control rate compared with those aged ≥70 (95%CI: 1.532-19.617, P < 0.05). There was a significant correlation between fast muscle scores and urinary incontinence recovery (OR=1.209, 95%CI: 1.132-1.291, P < 0.05). When the optimal threshold for preoperative fast muscle score was set at 18.5, the ROC sensitivity and specificity were 80.6% and 61.2%, respectively. CONCLUSION: Preoperative pelvic floor EMG parameters show good predictive accuracy and clinical applicability for the risk of urinary incontinence after prostate cancer surgery. These parameters can be used for early identification of urinary incontinence risk, with age and fast muscle scores being important predictors.

Rhizoctonia solani is a widely disseminated phytopathogen that is found in the soil and is capable of harming many important species of crops. Here, analysis of the R. solani AG-4 HG III strain A14 led to the identification of a novel mycovirus assigned the tentative name "Rhizoctonia solani partitivirus A14" (RsPV-A14), which was subjected to sequencing and associated analyses. This approach revealed that RsPV-A14 harbored two dsRNA segments, 2022 bp (dsRNA1) and 1905 bp (dsRNA2) in length. dsRNA1 was found to contain a single open reading frame (ORF1) that codes for a 622-amino-acid protein with conserved RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) motifs, and dsRNA2 was found to contain an ORF (ORF2) that is predicted to code for a 558-amino-acid capsid protein (CP). BLASTp analysis using the putative RdRp of RsPV-A14 showed sequence similarity to partitiviruses, including Rosellinia necatrix partitivirus 7 (50.53% identity), an unclassified partitivirus. Phylogenetic analysis based on RdRp protein sequences suggested that RsPV-A14 is a novel member of the family Partitiviridae.

A novel fungal immunomodulatory protein (FIP), identified as FIP-hma, was discovered in the genome of an edible mushroom Hypsizygus marmoreus. Bioinformatics analysis suggested FIP-hma contained the cerato-platanin (CP) conserved domain and was categorized into Cerato-type FIP. In phylogenetic analysis, FIP-hma was clustered into a new branch of the FIP family, displaying large system divergence from most of the other FIPs. The higher gene expression of FIP-hma was observed during the vegetative growth stages than that during the reproductive growth stages. In addition, the cDNA sequence of FIP-hma was cloned and successfully expressed in Escherichia coli (E. coli) BL21(DE3). The recombinant protein of FIP-hma (rFIP-hma) was neatly purified and isolated by Ni-NTA and SUMO-Protease. The iNOS, IL-6, IL-1ß, and TNF-α levels of RAW 264.7 macrophages were upregulated by rFIP-hma, indicating its activation of an immune response by regulating central cytokines. No cytotoxic effects were observed in an MTT test. The findings of this work discovered a novel immunoregulatory protein from H. marmoreus, provided a systematic bioinformatic profile, suggested an effective approach for its heterologous recombinant production, and reported its potent immunoregulatory activity in macrophages. This study sheds light on the physiological function research of FIPs and their further industrial utilization.

This study aimed to investigate the anti-fatigue effect and mechanism of Lubian(Cervi Penis et Testis) on kidney Yin deficiency and kidney Yang deficiency mice. After one week of adaptive feeding, 88 healthy male Kunming mice were randomly divided into a blank group, a kidney Yin deficiency model group, a kidney Yin deficiency-Panacis Quinquefolii Radix(PQR) group, kidney Yin deficiency-Lubian treatment groups, a kidney Yang deficiency model group, a kidney Yang deficiency-Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma(GR) group, and kidney Yang deficiency-Lubian treatment groups, with eight mice in each group. The kidney Yin deficiency model and kidney Yang deficiency model were prepared by daily regular oral administration of dexamethasone acetate and hydrocortisone, respectively, and meanwhile, corresponding drugs were provided. The mice in the blank group received blank reagent. The treatment lasted 14 days. The exhaustive swimming time was measured 30 min after drug administration on the 14th day. On the 15th day, blood was collected from eyeballs and the serum was separated to determine the content of lactic acid(LD), blood urea nitrogen(BUN), lactate dehydrogenase(LDH), cyclic adenosine monophosphate(cAMP), and cyclic guanosine monophosphate(cGMP). The liver was dissected to determine the content of liver glycogen and the protein expression of phosphoinositide 3-kinase(PI3K) and protein kinase B(Akt). Compared with the kidney Yang deficiency model group, the kidney Yang deficiency-Lubian treatment groups showed increased body weight(P<0.05), relieved symptoms of Yang deficiency, decreased cGMP content(P<0.01), increased cAMP/cGMP(P<0.01), prolonged exhausted swimming time(P<0.01), reduced LD(P<0.01), elevated BUN content(P<0.01), increased liver glycogen content(P<0.01), and increased protein expression of PI3K and Akt in the liver(P<0.05). Compared with the kidney Yin deficiency model group, the kidney Yin deficiency-Lubian treatment groups showed increased body weight(P<0.01), relieved symptoms of Yin deficiency, increased content of cGMP(P<0.01), decreased cAMP/cGMP(P<0.01), prolonged exhausted swimming time(P<0.01), decreased LD(P<0.01), decreased BUN content(P<0.01), increased liver glycogen content(P<0.01), and increased protein expression of PI3K(P<0.05) and Akt in the liver(P<0.05). To sum up, Lubian can regulate Yin deficiency and Yang deficiency and increase glycogen synthesis by affecting the PI3K-Akt pathway, thereby exerting an anti-fatigue role.

In this report, the full genome sequence of a novel mycovirus, designated as "Rhizoctonia solani partitivirus SM03" (RsPV-SM03), was determined in Rhizoctonia solani AG-4 HG III isolate SM03. RsPV-SM03 genome consists of two dsRNAs (dsRNA-1 and dsRNA-2), each of them contains one single open reading frame (ORF). ORF1 of dsRNA-1 encodes a putative RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp), while ORF2 of dsRNA-2 encodes a putative viral coat protein (CP). Phylogenetic analysis indicated that the RdRp and CP of RsPV-SM03 are closely related to those of other members of the genus Alphapartitivirus, family Partitiviridae, suggesting that RsPV-SM03 represents a novel species in the genus Alphapartitivirus.

The Chinese white wax scale insect, Ericerus pela, is an important resource insect in China. The rapid response of E. pela to decreasing temperatures plays key roles in the population distribution. In this study, we analyzed the gene expression of E. pela treated with low temperature using transcriptome analyses and weighted gene coexpression network analysis (WGCNA). The results showed that the cold resistance of E. pela involved changes in the expression of many genes. The genes were mainly involved in alcohol formation activity, lipid metabolism, membrane and structure, and oxidoreductase activity. According to the WGCNA results, some pathways related to cold resistance were found in the genes in the modules, such as cytoskeleton proteins, cytoskeleton protein pathway, biosynthesis of unsaturated fatty acids, glycerophospholipid metabolism, ether lipid metabolism, and thermogenesis. Some of the hub genes were nonspecific lipid-transfer proteins, DnaJ homolog subfamily C member 13, paramyosin, tropomodulin, and tubulin beta chain. In particular, the hub genes of the tan module included the heat shock protein (hsp) 10, hsp 60, hsp 70, and hsp 90 genes. Thirty-five antifreeze protein (afp) genes were identified according to the annotation results. Three afp genes were further identified among the hub genes. Six of these genes were selected for heterogeneous protein expression. One of them was expressed successfully. The thermal hysteresis activity (THA) analyses showed that the THA was 1.73°C. These results showed that the cytoskeleton, lipid metabolism, thermogenesis, HSPs and AFPs may play important roles in the cold resistance of E. pela.

Mutations may ultimately change the local conformation of proteins; however, little attention has been paid to alterations in protein function caused by the incidence of cis-peptide bonds (ICPB) in mammalian cells. In this study, a statistical approach, coimmunoprecipitation, and immunofluorescence staining have been used to confirm that S246→Y and S246→W missense mutations, which help increase the ICPB in Xaa246-P247 (Xaa is any amino acid) in human ß-catenin, can reduce the interactions between ß-catenin and adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) and between ß-catenin and Ca2+-dependent cell adhesion molecule family in epithelial tissue (E-cadherin), eventually leading to increased nuclear migration of ß-catenin in the HepG2 cell line (an immortalized cell line consisting of human liver carcinoma cells). Conversely, S246→L and S246→M missense mutations, which reduce the ICPB in Xaa246-P247 in human ß-catenin, can enhance interactions between ß-catenin and APC and between ß-catenin and E-cadherin, leading to decreased nuclear migration of ß-catenin. These results not only indicate that a change in the ICPB may be an important cause of functional protein changes but also provide a new basis for the study of genetic disease prediction, gene diagnosis, individualized treatment, and protein modification at the gene level for clinicians and other professionals.-Yu, S., Zhang, Y., Wu, Y., Yang, H., Chen, Y., Yang, Y., Zhang, Z. AIM: To explore interventions and strategies to prevent catheter-associated urinary tract infections in hospitalized patients with a short-term indwelling urinary catheter. BACKGROUND: Interventions and strategies to prevent catheter-associated urinary tract infections are reported in the literature, but it is not clear which might be relevant when the indwelling urinary catheter is in place for a short period of time. METHODS: An integrative review was performed. A search was undertaken in databases using the following search terms: "urinary catheter, bladder catheter OR urethral catheter*"and "bundl* OR care OR manag* OR intervent*." Electronic databases were searched up until June 2019. Manual searching of reference lists of included studies was undertaken. Twelve studies reported in 15 articles were identified and analysed by two independent reviewers. RESULTS: Multifaceted interventions were informed by evidence-based protocols or guidelines. Implementation strategies included local adaption of guidelines or protocols, use of an opinion leader, audit and feedback, multidisciplinary team involvement, reminders and stop orders, and education and training. CONCLUSION: Multifaceted, evidence-based interventions to prevent catheter-associated urinary tract infections are effective in preventing infections in patients with short-term urinary catheters. However, there is little evidence to inform which combined strategies are more likely to be effective.

Metal-based materials with exceptional intrinsic conductivity own excellent electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding performance. However, high density, corrosion susceptibility, and poor flexibility of the metal severely restrict their further applications in the areas of aircraft/aerospace, portable and wearable smart electronics. Herein, a lightweight, flexible, and anticorrosive silver nanowire wrapped carbon hybrid sponge (Ag@C) is fabricated and employed as ultrahigh efficiency EMI shielding material. The interconnected Ag@C hybrid sponges provide an effective way for electron transport, leading to a remarkable conductivity of 363.1 S m-1 and superb EMI shielding effectiveness of around 70.1 dB in the frequency range of 8.2-18 GHz, while the density is as low as 0.00382 g cm-3 , which are among the best performances for electrically conductive sponges/aerogels/foams by far. More importantly, the Ag@C sponge surprisingly exhibits super-hydrophobicity and strong corrosion resistance. In addition, the hybrid sponges possess excellent mechanical resilience even with a large strain (90% reversible compressibility) and an outstanding cycling stability, which is far better than the bare metallic aerogels, such as silver nanowire aerogels and copper nanowire foams. This strategy provides a facile methodology to fabricate lightweight, flexible, and anticorrosive metal-based sponge for highly efficient EMI shielding applications.

A facile, efficient and environmentally friendly process to exfoliate MoS2 is essentially critical to apply the obtained mono- and few-layer nanosheets in various electronic devices and sensors. Here we report a liquid phase exfoliation method for exfoliation of MoS2, which employs a surfactant of sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS) in water. The nonpolar benzene rings in SDBS can firmly bind to the MoS2 layer, facilitating the effective exfoliation of nanosheets in aqueous solution. It is found that the exfoliation efficiency and thickness of MoS2 nanosheets are related to the concentration of SDBS, and the mechanism was investigated. Defect free mono- and few-layer MoS2 nanosheets are obtained by controlling the amount of SDBS in solution, which exhibit stable dispersion in water over months, and it renders them as having great potential for solution-based device fabrication.

BACKGROUND: Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, which is a risk factor for resistant hypertension, is characterized by chronic intermittent hypoxia (CIH) and is associated with many cardiovascular diseases. CIH elicits systemic oxidative stress and sympathetic hyperactivity, which lead to hypertension. Rho kinases (ROCKs) are considered to be major effectors of the small GTPase RhoA and have been extensively studied in the cardiovascular field. Upregulation of the RhoA/ROCK signaling cascade is observed in various cardiovascular disorders, such as atherosclerosis, pulmonary hypertension, and stroke. However, the exact molecular function of RhoA/ROCK in CIH remains unclear and requires further study. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate the role of the NADPH oxidase 4 (Nox4)-induced ROS/RhoA/ROCK pathway in CIH-induced hypertension in rats. METHODS: Male Sprague-Dawley rats were exposed to CIH for 21 days (intermittent hypoxia of 21% O2 for 60 s and 5% O2 for 30 s, cyclically repeated for 8 h/day). We randomly assigned 56 male rats to groups of normoxia (RA) or vertically implemented CIH together with vehicle (CIH-V), GKT137831 (CIH-G), N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) (CIH-N), or Y27632 (CIH-Y). The rats in the RA group were continuously exposed to room air, whereas the rats in the other groups were exposed to CIH. Systolic blood pressure (BP) was monitored at the beginning of each week. After the experiment, renal sympathetic nerve activity (RSNA) was recorded, and serum and renal tissues were subjected to molecular biological and biochemical analyses. RESULTS: Compared with the BP of RA rats, the BP of CIH-V rats started to increase 2 weeks after the beginning of the experiment, subsequently stabilizing at a high level at the end of the third week. CIH increased both RSNA and oxidative stress. This response was attenuated by treatment of the rats with GKT137831 or NAC. Inhibiting Nox4 activity or ROS production reduced RhoA/ROCK expression. Treatment with Y27632 reduced both BP and RSNA in rats exposed to CIH. CONCLUSION: Hypertension can be induced by CIH in SD rats. The CIH-induced elevation of BP is at least partially mediated via the Nox4-induced ROS/RhoA/ROCK pathway.

PURPOSE: To investigate the radiation effects and acute damage in inoperable cervical cancer patients irradiated at different times as well as the underlying mechanisms. METHODS: 67 patients were randomized to a morning group (MG, 9:00 - 11:00 AM) and an evening group (EG, 9:00 - 11:00 PM) and both received external beam radiotherapy (RT) (50 Gy in 25 fractions) at different times. Brachytherapy (36 - 42 Gy in 6 - 7 fractions) was also performed to enhance the radiation response twice every week in all patients at the same time. Clinical therapeutic effects and acute toxicities were evaluated after RT. Flow cytometry was analyzed before and after RT. RESULTS: Patients' response to radiation was similar in the two groups. Incidences of overall and high-grade (III - IV) diarrhea in the MG vs. the EG were 75.0% vs. 57.6% and 12.5% vs. 6.1%, respectively. The incidence of severe hematological toxicity in the EG was significantly increased compared to the MG group. Cell apoptosis in the EG was significantly higher at 9:00 - 11:00 PM than that at 9:00 - 11:00 AM after RT. No significant differences were found in Gap Phase 0/Gap Phase 1 (G0/G1), Gap Phase 2/Metaphase Phase (G2/M), and Synthesis Phase (S) phase between different times and groups, nor were expressions of Per1, Per2, and Clock. But expressions of Per1, Per2, and Clock were significantly negative with G2/M phase and positively correlated with cell apoptosis. CONCLUSION: RT at different time intervals results in similar efficacy. However, RT in the morning reduces severe hematological toxicity. Radiation responses may be associated with circadian genes by influence of cell cycles and apoptosis.

Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) is a traditional medicinal plant for treating human diseases that is widely cultivated in many countries. However, the component and related metabolic pathways are still unclear. To understand the changes in expression of the component and related genes during seed development, this study employed metabolomic and transcriptomic analyses and integrative analysis to explore the metabolites and pathways involved in the growth of fenugreek. The antifungal activity of the fenugreek seeds was also analyzed. A total of 9499 metabolites were identified in the positive ion mode, and 8043 metabolites were identified in the negative ion mode. Among them, the main components were fatty acyls, prenol lipids, steroids, steroid derivatives, flavonoids, and isoflavonoids. Among these enriched pathways, the top 20 pathways were "flavone and flavonol biosynthesis", "isoflavonoid biosynthesis", and "flavonoid biosynthesis". 3,7-Di-O-methylquercetin, flavonoids, pseudobaptigenin, isoflavonoids, methylecgonine, alkaloids, and derivatives were the most significantly upregulated metabolites. There were 38,137 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) identified via transcriptomic analysis. According to the KEGG pathway enrichment analysis, 147 DEGs were significantly enriched in "flavonoid biosynthesis". Ten DEGs of the six key enzymes were found to be involved in three pathways related to flavonoid and alkaloid synthesis in fenugreek. The antifungal activity test revealed the inhibitory effect of the ethanol extract of fenugreek seeds on Alternaria tenuissima (Kunze)Wiltshire and Magnaporthe oryzae. These findings further prove that the use of botanical pesticides in fenugreek fruit has research value.

OBJECTIVES: The relationship between hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and gynecologic cancers is controversial. We aimed to evaluate the risk of gynecologic cancers associated with HBV infection using a meta-analysis. METHODS: Two independent reviewers identified publications in the PubMed, Embase and Cochrane Library databases that reported an association between HBV and the risk of gynecologic malignancy from inception to December 31, 2022. The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) was used to evaluate the quality of the included articles. Pooled odds ratios (ORs) and 95% corresponding confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated using a fixed effects model or random effects model. RESULTS: We collected data from 7 studies that met the inclusion criteria, including 2 cohort studies and 5 case-control studies. HBV was significantly associated with the risk of cervical cancer in the general population (OR 1.22, 95% CI 1.09-1.38, P = 0.001), although the same trend was not found in endometrial cancer (OR 1.30, 95% CI 0.95-1.77, P = 0.105) and ovarian cancer (OR 1.03, 95% CI 0.79-1.35, P = 0.813). Subgroup analysis showed that HBV infection was positively associated with the risk of cervical cancer (OR 1.27, 95% CI 1.13-1.44, P = 0.000) in case-control studies. Asian women infected with HBV have a significantly increased risk of cervical cancer (OR 1.24, 95% CI 1.10-1.40, P = 0.001) and endometrial cancer (OR 1.46, 95% CI 1.07-1.99, P = 0.018). Hospital-based studies were found to be associated with an increased risk of cervical cancer (OR 1.30, 95% CI 1.14-1.47, P = 0.000) and endometrial cancer (OR 1.61, 95% CI 1.04-2.49, P = 0.032). The results of Begg's and Egger's tests showed no publication bias. CONCLUSIONS: This meta-analysis shows a positive association between HBV infection and cervical cancer. HBV is positively correlated with the risk of cervical cancer and endometrial cancer in Asian women and hospital-based populations. More multicenter prospective studies are required to confirm the findings.

Depression is a prevalent mental disorder, but the side effects of antidepressants also make depressed patients resistant. Effective and safe antidepressants should be developed from traditional herbs, with the aim of reducing the side effects of antidepressants and improving the efficacy of drugs. In this study, the new macamide compound-4 (NMC-4) was synthesized for the first time, addressing the problem of difficult extraction, isolation, and low content of natural macamide. NMC-4 was characterized using mass spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance, and infrared spectroscopy. The protective effect of NMC-4 against cell injury was demonstrated to be stronger than that of natural macamide (N-benzylhexadecanamide, XA) using a PC12 cell injury model. The study explored the effects of NMC-4 on chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS)-induced depressive symptoms. NMC-4 significantly improved depressive-like behaviors. NMC-4 ameliorated CUMS-induced depressive-like behaviors by mitigating neuroinflammation and modulating the NF-κB/Nrf2 and BDNF/PI3K/Akt pathways.

We demonstrate a new method that can simultaneously improve the strength and toughness of the glass fiber-reinforced bismaleimide-triazine (BT) resin composites by using polyethylene glycol (PEG) to construct a flexible bridge at the interface. The mechanical properties, including the elongation, ultimate tensile stress, Young's modulus, toughness and dynamical mechanical properties were studied as a function of the length of PEG molecular chain. It was found that the PEG molecule acts as a bridge to link BT resin and glass fiber through covalent and non-covalent bondings, respectively, resulting in improved interfacial bonding. The incorporation of PEG produces an increase in elongation, ultimate tensile stress and toughness. The Young's modulus and Tg were slightly reduced when the length of the PEG molecular chain was high. The elongation of the PEG-modified glass fiber-reinforced composites containing 5 wt% PEG-8000 increased by 67.1%, the ultimate tensile stress by 17.9% and the toughness by 78.2% compared to the unmodified one. This approach provides an efficient way to develop substrate material with improved strength and toughness for integrated circuit packaging applications.
