RESUMO

Influenza A viruses (IAV) are a prevalent respiratory pathogen that can cause seasonal flu and global pandemics, posing a significant global public health threat. Emerging research suggests that IAV infections may disrupt the balance of gut microbiota, while gut dysbiosis can affect disease progression in IAV patients. Therefore, restoring gut microbiota balance may represent a promising therapeutic target for IAV infections. Traditional Chinese medicine, with its ability to regulate gut microbiota, offers significant potential in preventing and treating IAV. This article provides a comprehensive review of the relationship between IAV and gut microbiota, highlighting the impact of gut microbiota on IAV infections. It also explores the mechanisms and role of traditional Chinese medicine in regulating gut microbiota for the prevention and treatment of IAV, presenting novel research avenues for traditional Chinese medicine-based IAV treatments.

RESUMO

This paper analyzes the Raman spectrum and Near Infrared Spectrum (NIR) with time-frequency method. The empirical mode decomposition spectrum becomes intrinsic mode functions, which the proportion calculation reveals the Raman spectral energy is uniform distributed in each component, while the NIR's low order intrinsic mode functions only undertakes fewer primary spectroscopic effective information. Both the real spectrum and numerical experiments show that the empirical mode decomposition (EMD) regard Raman spectrum as the amplitude-modulated signal, which possessed with high frequency adsorption property; and EMD regards NIR as the frequency-modulated signal, which could be preferably realized high frequency narrow-band demodulation during first-order intrinsic mode functions. The first-order intrinsic mode functions Hilbert transform reveals that during the period of empirical mode decomposes Raman spectrum, modal aliasing happened. Through further analysis of corn leaf's NIR in time-frequency domain, after EMD, the first and second orders components of low energy are cut off, and reconstruct spectral signal by using the remaining intrinsic mode functions, the root-mean-square error is 1.001 1, and the correlation coefficient is 0.981 3, both of these two indexes indicated higher accuracy in re-construction; the decomposition trend term indicates the absorbency is ascending along with the decreasing to wave length in the near-infrared light wave band; and the Hilbert transform of characteristic modal component displays, 657 cm⁻¹ is the specific frequency by the corn leaf stress spectrum, which could be regarded as characteristic frequency for identification.

RESUMO

It is well known that the second generation wavelet is the best de-noising means, but the result of de-noising depends on how to set up the basis function, decomposition layers and threshold parameters. Without parameter setting empirical mode decomposition (EMD) decomposes the signal into intrinsic mode functions (IMF), then structuring IMF filter and the de-noising process is adaptive. It is worth noting that the signal and the noise are mixed together in very high frequency, that is to say that there has been mode overlap, and what happened will affect the de-noising effect. It was found that ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) decomposes Raman spectrum into the signal and the noise effectively avoiding from mode overlap in high frequency in the experiments, and it is similar with wavelet in de-nosing effect fortunately. At first, a period of non-linear and non-smooth bean greases Raman spectrum was decomposed by EMD in the paper, there was mode overlap, but the authors have got clear characteristic components by EEMD. Secondly noisy spectrum was processed by fast Fourier transform (FFT), wave-let, EMD and EEMD independently, and signal to noise ratio, root mean square error and correlation coefficient indicate that FFT is the worse means in high frequency de-noising than EMD, and the appropriate wavelet is similar with EEMD in de-noising result, but the de-noising process of EEMD is adaptive. In the last section, a brief research direction of the spectrum study method in time frequency field and noise properties criterion on IMF are given for the future.

RESUMO

Pasteurella multocida (P. multocida) is an important zoonotic pathogen. In addition to lung lesions, necropsies have revealed macroscopic lesions in the heart in clinical cases. However, most previous studies focused on lung lesions while ignoring heart lesions. Therefore, to investigate the immune response of the P. multocida-infected heart, two murine infection models were established by using P. multocida serotype A (Pm HN02) and D (Pm HN01) strains. Histopathological examination revealed heterogeneous inflammatory responses, including immune cell infiltration in the epicardial and myocardial areas of the heart. Transcriptome sequencing was performed on infected cardiac tissues. To explore the traits of immune responses, we performed the functional enrichment analysis of differentially expressed genes, gene set enrichment analysis and gene set variation analysis. The results showed that the innate immune pathways were significantly regulated in both groups, including the NOD-like receptor signaling pathway, the complement and coagulation cascade and cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction. The Toll-like receptor signaling pathway was only significantly activated in the Pm HN02 group. For the Pm HN02 group, immunohistochemistry analysis further verified the significant upregulation of the hub component MyD88 at the protein level. In conclusion, this study reveals critical pathways for host heart recognition and defense against P. multocida serotypes A and D. Moreover, MyD88 was upregulated by P. multocida serotype A in the heart, providing a theoretical basis for future prevention, diagnosis and treatment research.

RESUMO

Ischemic stroke is a common issue that severely affects the human health. Between the central nervous system and the enteric system, the " Gut-Brain " axis, the bidirectional connection involved in the neuro-immuno-endocrine network, is crucial for the occurrence and development of ischemic stroke. Ischemic stroke can lead to change in the gut microbiota and gastrointestinal hormones, which will then reversely affect the disease development. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has unique advantages with reference to the treatment for ischemic stroke. The latest research revealed that a significant portion of medicines and prescriptions of TCM exert their therapeutic effects by improving the gut microbiota and regulating the secretion of gastrointestinal hormones. The present review summarized the Chinese medicines that play a therapeutic role in cerebral ischemia through regulating the "Gut-Brain" axis and described the corresponding mechanisms. This study attempts to provide reference for clinical selection of Chinese medicines and helps better understand the relevant mechanisms of action.

RESUMO

Spherical aluminum powder was added to an epoxy composite coating in order to improve its protection performance for metal materials. The strength of the coating before and after UV (Ultraviolet Light) aging, its yellowing value, and its barrier properties were tested to explore the influence of UV light on the barrier performance of aluminum powder/epoxy coating. The results show that the addition of the aluminum powder enhanced the strength of the epoxy coating and reflected environmental UV light. This improved the resistance of the coating to UV aging and prolonged its service life. The composite prepared with 6 wt.% aluminum power exhibited the highest strength values before and after aging: 64.5 MPa and 58.5 MPa, respectively. After aging, the strength loss rate of this epoxy coating was 9.3%, and its yellowing value was +1.43.

RESUMO

Ischemic stroke is a highly disabling and potentially fatal disease. After ischemic stroke, autophagy plays a key regulatory role as an intracellular catabolic pathway for misfolded proteins and damaged organelles. Mounting evidence indicates that astrocytes are strongly linked to the occurrence and development of cerebral ischemia. In recent years, great progress has been made in the investigation of astrocyte autophagy during ischemic stroke. This article summarizes the roles and potential mechanisms of astrocyte autophagy in ischemic stroke, briefly expounds on the crosstalk of astrocyte autophagy with pathological mechanisms and its potential protective effect on neurons, and reviews astrocytic autophagy-targeted therapeutic methods for cerebral ischemia. The broader aim of the report is to provide new perspectives and strategies for the treatment of cerebral ischemia and a reference for future research on cerebral ischemia.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Septic acute kidney injury (AKI) causes a sharp deterioration of renal function, and it is a major reason for mortality in intensive care units. Although miR-21 has been proven to be dysregulated in patients with sepsis, the evidence is scarce concerning its role in mediating cellular apoptosis in AKI. METHODS: Mice were injected intraperitoneally with 10 mg/kg of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) to establish septic AKI model, miR-21 mimic and inhibitor were used to manipulate the expression of miR-21, the creatinine levels were detected by a creatinine assay kit, the renal cell proliferation and apoptosis were detected by MTT assay, flow cytometry assay and acridine orange/ethidium bromide (AO/EB) fluorescence staining, the renal function was evaluated by renal histology and tubular injury score, western blot analysis was used to detect the target protein levels. Several bioinformatics tools were performed to show the downstream target of miR-21, and further confirmed by luciferase reporter assay and caspase-3 activity assay. RESULTS: miR-21 silencing was able to promote renal function and decrease LPS-stimulated renal cell apoptosis in vitro and in vivo, and it could decrease the Bax/Bcl-2 ratio and caspase-3 activity. On the contrary, miR-21 overexpression had the opposite effects. Cyclin-dependent kinase 6 (CDK6) was confirmed as a target gene of miR-21 and was associated with renal cell apoptosis. Moreover, miR-21 was also found to be up-regulated in septic AKI. CONCLUSIONS: Current evidences suggest that miR-21 has a potential application in treating septic AKI.

RESUMO

Waterborne polyurethane (WPU) coatings hold advantages of good toughness, low cost and environmental protection. However, the low water contact angle (WCA), poor wear and corrosion resistance make them unsuitable for application in the superhydrophobic coatings such as antipollution flashover coatings for transmission lines, self-cleaning coatings for outdoor equipment and waterproof textiles. A series of superhydrophobic WPU composites (SHWPUCs) with micro-rough surface structure was prepared by electrostatic spraying nano-SiO2 particles on WPU composites with low surface energy. It showed that as the hydrophobic system content rose the WCAs of the composites first increased and then remained stationary; however, the adhesion and corrosion resistance first increased and then decreased. An appropriate addition of the hydrophobic system content would lead to a dense coating structure, but an excessive addition could increase the interfaces in the coating and then reduce the coating performance. When the mass ratio of the WPU dispersion, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) particles and modified polydimethylsiloxane was 8:0.3:0.4, 10 g/m2 nano-SiO2 particles were sprayed on the uncured coating surface to construct the SHWPUC with a WCA of 156°. Compared with pure WPU coating, its adhesion and corrosion resistance increased by 12.5% and one order of magnitude, respectively; its wear rate decreased by 88.8%.

RESUMO

Zeolite imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) has emerged as an excellent candidate for the preparation of thin-film nanocomposite (TFN) membranes. Nevertheless, it still remains a great challenge to make the effective incorporation of ZIF-8 into the resulting TFN membrane feasible for facile application. Herein, we propose an in situ strategy to fabricate a ZIF-8 nanocrystal hybrid reverse osmosis membrane induced by the ultrafast surface modification of Noria-polyethyleneimine codeposition. By this method, ZIF-8 nanocubes with monodispersity were first formed on a modified support through the step-by-step deposition of precursor solutions. Afterward, a TFN membrane was fabricated by interfacial polymerization (IP) on a ZIF-8 loaded support. Due to the significantly altered IP process induced by the coexistence of Noria and ZIF-8 on the support surface, the TFN membrane depicts a distinct nanostrand-nanoparticle hybrid morphology, which endows the TFN membrane with excellent antifouling ability. Moreover, the permeance of the as-fabricated TFN membrane is up to 3.64 L·m-2·h-1·bar-1, nearly 2.7-fold higher than that of the nascent membrane, while it still maintains a high rejection toward NaCl. The in situ assembly strategy reported here could also pave a promising way for the fabrication of TFN membranes with other nanomaterials in future.
