RESUMO

Based on the electron-withdrawing effect of the Pt(bpy)Cl2 molecule, a simple post-modification amide reaction was firstly used to graft it onto the surface of NH2-MIL-125, which formed a highly efficient electron acceptor that induced the conversion of the photoinduced charge migration pathway from internal BDC→TiOx migration to external BDC→PtNx migration, significantly improving the efficiency of photoinduced electron transfer and separation. Furthermore, precise control over the first coordination sphere of Pt single atoms was achieved using further post-modification with additional bipyridine to investigate the effect of Pt-Nx coordination numbers on reaction activity. The as-synthesized NML-PtN2 exhibited superior photocatalytic hydrogen evolution activity of 7.608 mmol g-1 h-1, a remarkable improvement of 225 and 2.26 times compared to pristine NH2-MIL-125 and NML-PtN4, respectively. In addition, the superior apparent quantum yield of 4.01% (390 nm) and turnover frequency of 190.3 h-1 (0.78 wt% Pt SA; 129 times compared to Pt nanoparticles/NML) revealed the high solar utilization efficiency and hydrogen evolution activity of the material. And macroscopic color changes caused by the transition of carrier migration paths was first observed. It holds profound significance for the design of MOF-Molecule catalysts with efficient charge carrier separation and precise regulation of single-atom coordination sphere.

Objective: This report aimed to investigate the potential mechanism of polymeric immunoglobulin receptor (PIGR) in promoting cancer development in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods: PIGR expression was investigated in Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), Oncomine, The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and The Human Protein Atlas (HPA) databases. Relationships between PIGR and HCC survival and clinico-pathological features were conducted in TCGA. RNAseq of PIGR overexpression and knockdown samples in Bel-7404 cells were performed for identifying potential mechanisms. Results: PIGR was significantly overexpressed in tumors compared to nontumors and in HCC serum peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) than in healthy individuals (all p < 0.05). In TCGA, PIGR was highly altered in 14% HCC patients. PIGR upregulation was significantly associated with poor disease-free survival (p < 0.05). More patients recurred/progressed in PIGR altered group compared to unaltered group (p < 0.01). PIGR was significantly higher in HCC patients with incomplete cirrhosis (p < 0.001) and established cirrhosis (p < 0.05). Fewer patients had N0 lymph node stage in PIGR altered group than those in the unaltered group (p < 0.05). PIGR RNAseq revealed that ribosome signaling was the common pathway in PIGR overexpression and PIGR knockdown samples. RNAseq analysis indicated that RPL10, RPL10A, RPL12, RPL19, RPL36, RPL38, RPL41, RPL6, RPL8, RPS12, RPS14, RPS15A, RPS2, RPS27A and RPSA were significantly upregulated in PIGR overexpression group and downregulated in PIGR underexpression group (all p < 0.05). Conclusions: Aberrant PIGR was associated with HCC recurrence, and PIGR stimulated ribosome pathway might be a potential mechanism.

AIM: The present study was designed to assess the role of family function and social support in the context of different phases of schizophrenia. METHODS: First-episode patients with experiences of schizophrenia (FEP), ultra-high risk for psychosis (UHR), first-degree relatives (FDR) of patients with experiences of schizophrenia, and healthy controls (HC) (40 per group) were subjected to in-person clinical interviews. The results of these interviews were then used to gauge social support and family function using the Perceived Social Support Scale (PSSS) and the Family Adaptability and Cohesion Scales (FACESII-CV). Data were analyzed through ANCOVA, correlation analysis and logistic regression analyses. RESULTS: We found that family function and social support showed a approximately gradual downward trend through the HC, FDR, UHR, and FEP groups but no significant differences were found in the family function of the FDR, UHR and FDR group. Logistic regression analyses indicated that UHR group patients exhibited decreased family support and family cohesion relative to members of the HC group, but had greater perceived social support than did members of the FEP group. Results for members of the FDR group were in line with those of members of the UHR group. CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggested that both UHR and FDR individuals experience impaired family functionality and social support which expanded the understanding of the psychological characteristics of the prodromal period of schizophrenia. Further explorations are warranted to develop optimal psychosocial interventions.

The seriousness of the energy crisis and the environmental impact of global anthropogenic activities have led to an urgent need to develop efficient and green fuels. Hydrogen, as a promising alternative resource that is produced in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner by a water splitting reaction, has attracted extensive attention in recent years. However, the large-scale application of water splitting devices is hindered predominantly by the sluggish oxygen evolution reaction (OER) at the anode. Therefore, the design and exploration of high-performing OER electrocatalysts is a critical objective. Considering their low prices, abundant reserves, and intrinsic activities, NiFe-based bimetal compounds are widely studied as excellent OER electrocatalysts. Moreover, recent progress on NiFe-based OER electrocatalysts in alkaline environments is comprehensively and systematically introduced through various catalyst families including NiFe-layered hydroxides, metal-organic frameworks, NiFe-based (oxy)hydroxides, NiFe-based oxides, NiFe alloys, and NiFe-based nonoxides. This review briefly introduces the advanced NiFe-based OER materials and their corresponding reaction mechanisms. Finally, the challenges inherent to and possible strategies for producing extraordinary NiFe-based electrocatalysts are discussed.

BACKGROUND: Violence against patients with schizophrenia is very common, however it is rarely studied in China, especially in primary health care institutions of rural areas. Therefore, we investigated the frequency of violence against patients with community-living schizophrenia in rural China and examined its associated factors and impact on quality of life (QoL) and social function. METHOD: A survey was conducted among 487 patients with schizophrenia living in rural communities. Data about violent victimization experiences in the past 6 months, demographic information, and clinical characteristics were collected by questionnaires. RESULTS: We found that 92 (18.9%) of 487 subjects experienced at least one type of violent event in the past 6 months. Logistic regression analysis suggested that a history of conducting dangerous behaviors(OR = 1.702, P = 0.02, 95%CI: 1.05-2.73), higher Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (anxiety domain) score (OR = 1.15, P = 0.02, 95%CI: 1.01-1.304) and lower hospitalization rates (OR = 0.89, P = 0.04, 95%CI: 0.81-0.99) were significantly associated with violent victimization in patients with schizophrenia. Analysis of covariance showed the victims of violence tended to have worse social function in patients with schizophrenia living in rural communities of China (P = 0.04). CONCLUSIONS: Individuals with schizophrenia living in rural China had a high risk of being exposed to violence and violent victimization of patients with schizophrenia had adverse consequences for social function. More attention is needed for those patients experiencing violent events, because they are simultaneously possible to conduct dangerous behaviors.

BACKGROUND/AIMS: Although oxaliplatin is one of the most effective chemotherapeutic drugs used to treat colorectal cancer (CRC), long-term administration usually induces acquired drug resistance during the course of treatment. Thus, there is an urgent need to explore novel strategies to improve the efficiency of cancer therapy. The aim of this study was to explore the effect of microRNA-122 (miR-122) on reversing oxaliplatin resistance in CRC. METHODS: The expression of miR-122 in CRC cells was examined by quantitative reverse transcriptase real-time PCR. The cytotoxicity of oxaliplatin against CRC cells was evaluated by Cell Counting Kit-8 assays. Mitochondrial membrane potentials and cell apoptotic rates were measured by flow cytometry. Cellular protein expression and interactions were detected by western blot and co-immunoprecipitation. RESULTS: Established oxaliplatin-resistant SW480 and HT29 cells (SW480/OR and HT29/OR) expressed significantly higher levels of X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein (XIAP) and lower levels of miR-122 compared with normal SW480 and HT29 cells, respectively. Our results showed that the downregulation of miR-122 was responsible for the overexpression of XIAP in these oxaliplatin-resistant CRC cells. We then found that the recovery of miR-122 expression can sensitize SW480/OR and HT29/OR cells to oxaliplatin-mediated apoptosis through the inhibition of XIAP expression. CONCLUSION: Upregulation of XIAP in CRC cells is responsible for the acquired resistance to oxaliplatin. Furthermore, miR-122 reversed oxaliplatin resistance in CRC by targeting XIAP.

This paper describes the introduction of a thin titanium dioxide interlayer that serves as passivation layer and dopant source for hematite (α-Fe2 O3 ) nanoarray photoanodes. This interlayer is demonstrated to boost the photocurrent by suppressing the substrate/hematite interfacial charge recombination, and to increase the electrical conductivity by enabling Ti4+ incorporation. The dendritic nanostructure of this photoanode with an increased solid-liquid junction area further improves the surface charge collection efficiency, generating a photocurrent of about 2.5 mA cm-2 at 1.23 V versus the reversible hydrogen electrode (vs. RHE) under air mass 1.5G illumination. A photocurrent of approximately 3.1 mA cm-2 at 1.23 V vs. RHE could be achieved by addition of an iron oxide hydroxide cocatalyst.

Nanotubular Fe2 O3 is a promising photoanode material, and producing morphologies that withstand high-temperature calcination (HTC) is urgently needed to enhance the photoelectrochemical (PEC) performance. This work describes the design and fabrication of Fe2 O3 nanotube arrays that survive HTC for the first time. By introducing a ZrO2 shell on hydrothermal FeOOH nanorods by atomic layer deposition, subsequent high-temperature solid-state reaction converts FeOOH-ZrO2 nanorods to ZrO2 -induced Fe2 O3 nanotubes (Zr-Fe2 O3 NTs). The structural evolution of the hematite nanotubes is systematically explored. As a result of the nanostructuring and shortened charge collection distance, the nanotube photoanode shows a greatly improved PEC water oxidation activity, exhibiting a photocurrent density of 1.5 mA cm-2 at 1.23 V (vs. reversible hydrogen electrode, RHE), which is the highest among hematite nanotube photoanodes without co-catalysts. Furthermore, a Co-Pi decorated Zr-Fe2 O3 NT photoanode reveals an enhanced onset potential of 0.65 V (vs. RHE) and a photocurrent of 1.87 mA cm-2 (at 1.23 V vs. RHE).

Surface reaction kinetics and bulk charge separation are both critical to the efficiency of solar water splitting. In addition to the well-documented surface catalytic effect, the promotion of bulk charge separation upon loading of cocatalysts has rarely been reported. This paper describes the synergetic enhancement of surface reaction kinetics and bulk charge separation by introducing discrete nanoisland p-type Co3O4 cocatalysts onto n-type BiVO4, forming a p-n Co3O4/BiVO4 heterojunction with an internal electric field to facilitate charge transport. Being highly dispersed on the surface of photoanodes, the nanoisland cocatalysts could suppress the formation of recombination centers at the photoanode/cocatalyst interface. This cocatalyst-loading method achieved a charge separation efficiency of up to 77% in the bulk and 47% on the surface of catalysts. An AM 1.5G photocurrent of 2.71 mA/cm(2) at 1.23 V versus the reversible hydrogen electrode for water oxidation was obtained, which is the highest photocurrent yet reported for Co-catalyzed undoped BiVO4 photoanodes, with a photoconversion efficiency of 0.659%.

Solar energy utilization is one of the most promising solutions for the energy crises. Among all the possible means to make use of solar energy, solar water splitting is remarkable since it can accomplish the conversion of solar energy into chemical energy. The produced hydrogen is clean and sustainable which could be used in various areas. For the past decades, numerous efforts have been put into this research area with many important achievements. Improving the overall efficiency and stability of semiconductor photocatalysts are the research focuses for the solar water splitting. Tantalum-based semiconductors, including tantalum oxide, tantalate and tantalum (oxy)nitride, are among the most important photocatalysts. Tantalum oxide has the band gap energy that is suitable for the overall solar water splitting. The more negative conduction band minimum of tantalum oxide provides photogenerated electrons with higher potential for the hydrogen generation reaction. Tantalates, with tunable compositions, show high activities owning to their layered perovskite structure. (Oxy)nitrides, especially TaON and Ta3N5, have small band gaps to respond to visible-light, whereas they can still realize overall solar water splitting with the proper positions of conduction band minimum and valence band maximum. This review describes recent progress regarding the improvement of photocatalytic activities of tantalum-based semiconductors. Basic concepts and principles of solar water splitting will be discussed in the introduction section, followed by the three main categories regarding to the different types of tantalum-based semiconductors. In each category, synthetic methodologies, influencing factors on the photocatalytic activities, strategies to enhance the efficiencies of photocatalysts and morphology control of tantalum-based materials will be discussed in detail. Future directions to further explore the research area of tantalum-based semiconductors for solar water splitting are also discussed.

Introducing asymmetric elements and breaking the geometric symmetry of traditional metal-N4 site for boosting oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) are meaningful and challenging. Herein, the planar chlorination engineering of Fe-N4 site is first proposed for remarkably improving the ORR activity. The Fe-N4/CNCl catalyst with broken symmetry exhibits a half-wave potential (E1/2) of 0.917 V versus RHE, 49 and 72 mV higher than those of traditional Fe-N4/CN and commercial 20 wt% Pt/C catalysts. The Fe-N4/CNCl catalyst also has excellent stability for 25 000 cycles and good methanol tolerance ability. For Zn-air battery test, the Fe-N4/CNCl catalyst has the maximum power density of 228 mW cm-2 and outstanding stability during 150 h charge-discharge test, as the promising substitute of Pt-based catalysts in energy storage and conversion devices. The density functional theory calculation demonstrates that the adjacent C─Cl bond effectively breaks the symmetry of Fe-N4 site, downward shifts the d-band center of Fe, facilitates the reduction and release of OH*, and remarkably lowers the energy barrier of rate-determining step. This work reveals the enormous potential of planar chlorination engineering for boosting the ORR activity of traditional metal-N4 site by thoroughly breaking their geometric symmetry.

BACKGROUND: Internet is gradually reshaping adolescents' behaviors in China. It is important to identify the prevalence and risk factors to predict Internet addiction among adolescent psychiatric patients. METHODS: The survey was conducted among inpatient or outpatient adolescent patients with mental disorders. All participants were interviewed face-to-face and completed Young Internet Addiction Test and other relevant assessments. Binary logistic regression analysis was used to exam between-group differences of internet addiction. RESULT: The prevalence for internet addiction (mild to severe) in adolescent psychiatric patients was 80.2%, where the prevalence for "medium and severe internet addiction was 25.5%. Logistic regression analysis identified two independent predictors for "medium and severe internet addiction" including the total score of Adolescent Non-suicidal-self-injury (NSSI) Behavior Function Assessment Scale (ANBFAS) and the diagnosis of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) (R2 =0.27, p = .02 for total ANBFAS score, p = .01 for GAD) in psychiatric adolescent patients. CONCLUSION: The prevalence of internet addiction is notably high among adolescent psychiatric patients in China. Coping for Internet addiction in adolescent psychiatric patients should conclude the coping of NSSI and GAD.

BACKGROUND: Childhood trauma has a significant impact on the development of adolescents, which may lead to interpersonal and psychological problems. Determining the incidence and consequences of childhood trauma in psychiatric clinical practice is of great significance. METHODS: A survey was conducted among adolescents with mood disorders. Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ), the Adolescent Non-Suicidal-Self-Injury Behavior Function Assessment Scale (ANBFAS) and a series of psychological scales were filled face to face. Path analysis was used to examine the causation structure of childhood trauma-related symptoms. RESULTS: A total of 117 participants (74.5%) had experienced at least one type of trauma. Interpersonal and psychological features of adolescent patients with childhood trauma were detailed in this study. The path analysis model showed that the relationships between childhood trauma and NSSI were mediated by depressive symptoms and thinking disorders, respectively, whereas depressive symptoms individually mediated the correlation between childhood trauma and sleep disturbances in adolescent patients with psychiatric disorders (χ2 /df = 1.23). CONCLUSION: For adolescent patients with childhood trauma, psychological counseling for interpersonal relationships should start with families and peers. It is important to treat their depressive symptoms and thinking disorders and alleviate NSSI behavior and sleep disorders.

Background: Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) has attracted more and more attention from schools, mental health workers and even the whole society in China. The aim of this study was to explore influencing factors and clinical characteristics of NSSI in adolescent psychiatric patients in China, and provide valuable information for the intervention and treatment of NSSI. Methods: The sample included 157 adolescents, 114 were female (72.6%), aged 12-18 years (M = 15.39, SD = 1.81). Assessments were performed using Childhood Trauma Questionnaire-Short Form, the Revised Olweus Bully/Victim Questionnaire, the modified version of Adolescents Self-Harm Scale, Montgomery-Asberg Depression Rating Scale, Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale, the Young Mania Rating Scale and the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview. Clinical characteristics were collected from electronic medical record system. Results: Adolescent patients with NSSI experienced more adverse life events including peer bullying, childhood trauma and romantic relationship trouble. They had more times of hospitalization, higher dosage of psychotic medication, and more severe depressive symptoms. Conclusions: It is very necessary to evaluate negative life events, including childhood trauma, peer bullying etc., in adolescent patients with NSSI. It has important clinical implications for evaluating the risk factors of NSSI and giving effective intervention treatment. Timely and effective treatment of these patients' depressive symptoms will also contribute to the relief of NSSI.

OBJECTIVE: Our study is aimed at investigating the efficacy and safety of Qiwei Tongbi oral liquid in patients with stable long-standing rheumatoid arthritis (RA). METHOD: 140 patients with stable long-standing RA were recruited into the Qiwei Tongbi oral liquid group or the control group. At study recruitment and after 12 weeks of treatment, their C-reactive protein (CRP) levels, interleukin-6 (IL-6) levels, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ), visual analogue scale (VAS), and Disease Activity Score (DAS) 28 were compared in two groups. RESULTS: Patients in the Qiwei Tongbi oral liquid group had a lower level of CRP, IL-6, VAS scale, and HAQ score compared to patients in the control group (CRP: 3.51 ± 1.57 vs.5.47 ± 1.72 mg/L, P < 0.001; IL-6: 1.62 ± 0.8 vs. 2.19 ± 0.88 pg/mL, P < 0.001; VAS scale: 1.59 ± 0.69 vs. 2.66 ± 1.02, P < 0.001; and HAQ score: 1.19 ± 0.46 vs. 1.41 ± 0.50, P = 0.005). The ESR and DAS28 did not reach statistical difference. No damage to liver and kidney functions was observed in both groups. CONCLUSION: Qiwei Tongbi oral liquid has the tendency to decrease the inflammation levels and pain score and improve patients' outcomes in patients with stable long-standing RA.

To suppress the aggregation behavior caused by the high surface energy of quantum dots (QDs), ZnCdS QDs were grown in situ on a g-C3N4 support. During the growth process, the QDs tightly adhered to the support surface. The ZnCdS QDs were prepared by low-temperature sulfurization and cation exchange with a zeolitic imidazolate framework precursor under mild conditions. The heterojunction of g-C3N4/ZnCdS-2 (CN/ZCS-2, with a g-C3N4 to ZIF-8 ratio of 2.0) not only showed excellent optical absorption performance, abundant reactive sites, and a close contact interface but also effectively separated the photogenerated electrons and holes, which greatly improved its photocatalytic hydrogen production performance. Under visible light irradiation (wavelength > 420 nm) without a noble metal cocatalyst, the hydrogen evolution rate of the CN/ZCS-2 heterojunction reached 1467.23 µmol g-1 h-1, and the durability and chemical stability were extraordinarily high.

Sluggish charge transfer is the major problem which restricts the development of metal-organic framework (MOF)-based photocatalysts. Recently, facet-engineering has been proven to be an effective method for solving this issue. However, due to difficulties in regulating the exposed facets of MOFs, there are few reports about the facet-engineering of MOF-based photocatalysts. Here, we firstly report facet-engineering for promoting the photocatalytic activity of NH2-UiO-66 crystals. In this study, by regulating the influence of kinetics and thermodynamics, cubic, tetra-decahedral, and octahedral forms of NH2-UiO-66 are synthesized. The photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate of tetra-decahedral NH2-UiO-66 with co-exposed (100) and (111) crystal facets reaches 64.06 µmol g-1 h-1, which is approximately 2 and 1.5 times greater than that of the cubic and octahedral forms of NH2-UiO-66, respectively. The density functional theory (DFT) calculation and ultrafast spectroscopy results indicate that a slight staggering exists in the band structure of (100) and (111) facets, causing the facets junction to appear. The facet junction promotes the charge separation efficiency and prolongs the lifetime of the charge carriers, thereby giving tetra-decahedral NH2-UiO-66 optimal photocatalytic performance. This study demonstrates the feasibility and potential of facet-engineering for photocatalytic applications of MOFs.

ZCS-C (ZnCdS/CdS) QDs were synthesized via low-temperature vulcanization using zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) nanoparticles as a precursor, cation exchange, and heterojunction construction. Without any precious metal as a cocatalyst, the photocatalytic hydrogen production rate of ZCS-C-3 QDs reached 2.7 mmol g-1 h-1 under visible light irradiation. The optimized sample exhibited an outstanding chemical stability and recyclability, which is superior to most of the reported Zn1-xCdxS-based photocatalysts.

Efficient charge separation and utilization are critical factors in photocatalysis. Herein, it is demonstrated that the complete spatial separation of oxidation and reduction cocatalysts enhances the efficacy of charge separation and surface reaction. Specifically, a Pt@NH2 -UiO-66@MnOx (PUM) heterostructured photocatalyst with Pt and MnOx as cocatalysts is designed for the optimization of the NH2 -UiO-66 photocatalyst. Compared with the pristine NH2 -UiO-66, Pt@NH2 -UiO-66 (PU), and NH2 -UiO-66@MnOx (UM) samples, the PUM sample exhibits the highest hydrogen production activity. As cocatalysts, Pt favors trapping of electrons, while MnOx tends to collect holes. Upon generation from NH2 -UiO-66, electrons and holes flow inward and outward of the metal-organic framework photocatalyst, accumulating on the corresponding cocatalysts, and then take part in the redox reactions. The PUM photocatalyst greatly prolongs the lifetime of the photogenerated electrons and holes, which favors the electron-hole separation. Furthermore, the PUM sample facilitates overall water splitting in the absence of sacrificial agents, thereby demonstrating its potential as a modification method of MOF-type semiconductors for the overall water-splitting reaction.

OBJECTIVE: With the growing incidence of ischemic stroke worldwide, there is an urgent need to identify blood biomarkers for ischemic stroke patients. Thus, our aim was to identify potential circulating microRNA (miRNA) as a potential biomarker and to explore its potential mechanism for ischemic stroke in rats. METHODS: The mRNA dataset GSE97537 and miRNA dataset GSE97532 were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) GSE97537 including 7 middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) rat brain tissues and 5 sham-operated rat brain tissues GSE97532 including 6 MCAO rat blood samples and 3 sham-operated rat blood samples. Differentially expressed mRNAs and miRNAs with corrected p value ≤ 0.01 and fold change ≥2 or ≤0.05 were identified. To explore potential biological processes and pathways of differentially expressed mRNAs, functional enrichment analysis was performed. The target mRNAs of differentially expressed miRNAs were predicted using DNA Intelligent Analysis (DIANA)-microT tools. The target mRNAs and differentially expressed mRNAs were intersected. RESULTS: 1228 differentially expressed mRNAs in MCAO rat brain tissues were identified. Highly expressed mRNAs were mainly enriched in the inflammatory responses. Nine differentially expressed miRNAs were identified in MCAO rat blood samples. A total of 673 target mRNAs were predicted to significantly bind these differentially expressed miRNAs. Among them, 54 target mRNAs were differentially expressed in MCAO rat blood samples. Enrichment analysis results showed that these 54 target mRNAs were closely related to neurological diseases and immune responses. Among all miRNA-mRNA relationship, miR-3552-CASP3 interaction was identified, indicating that CASP3 might be mediated by miR-3552. Functional enrichment analysis revealed that CASP3 was involved in the apoptosis pathway, indicating that miR-3552 might participate in apoptosis by CASP3. CONCLUSION: Our findings reveal that circulating miR-3552 shows promise as a potential biomarker for ischemic stroke in rats.
