RESUMO

Structurally well-defined discrete d/f heterometallic complexes show diverse application potential in electrooptic and magnetic materials. However, precise control of the component and topology of such heterometallic compounds with fine-tuned photophysical properties is still challenging. Herein, we report the stereocontrolled syntheses of a series of LnIII-PtII heterometallic cages through coordination-driven self-assembly of enantiopure alkynylplatinum-based metalloligands (L1R/S, L2R/S) with lanthanide ions (Ln = EuIII, YbIII, NdIII, LuIII). Taking advantage of the metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MLCT) excited state on the designed alkynylplatinum ligands, the excitation window for the sensitized near-infrared (NIR) luminescence on the YbIII- and NdIII-containing cages can be extended to the visible region (up to 500 nm). Linear temperature-dependent red and NIR emissions observed on the Ln4(L2R/S)6 (LnIII = EuIII and YbIII, respectively) complexes suggest their potential applications as luminescent temperature sensors, with sensitivities of -0.54% (LnIII = EuIII, 77-250 K) and -0.17% (LnIII = YbIII, 77-300 K) per K achieved. This work not only offers a good strategy to prepare new d/f heterometallic supramolecular cages but also paves the way for the design of stimuli-responsive luminescent materials.

RESUMO

Here we report two highly emissive perylene diimide (PDI)-based metallacages and explore their complexation with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, such as pyrene, triphenylene, and perylene. The fluorescence quantum yields of metallacages exceed 90% and their binding constants with perylene can reach as high as 2.41 × 104 M-1 in acetonitrile. These features enable further tuning of the emission of the host-guest complexes to obtain white-light emission based on the complementary orange emission of the metallacages and the blue emission of perylene. Moreover, owing to the huge differences of their quantum yields in solution and in the solid state, the host-guest complexes are successfully employed for information encryption. This study offers a general approach for the construction of emissive metallacages and explores their application for information encryption.

RESUMO

A variety of organic cages with different geometries have been developed during the last decade, most of them exhibiting a single cavity. In contrast, the number of organic cages featuring a pair of cavities remains scarce. These structures may pave the way towards novel porous materials with emergent properties and functions. We herein report on rational design of a three-dimensional hexaformyl precursor 1, which exhibits two types of conformers, i.e. Conformer-1 and -2, with different cleft positions and sizes. Aided by molecular dynamics simulations, we select two triamino conformation capturers (denoted CC). Small-sized CC-1 selectively capture Conformer-1 by matching its cleft size, while the large-sized CC-2 is able to match and capture both conformers. This strategy allows the formation of three compounds with twin cavities, which we coin diphane. The self-assembly of diphane units results in superstructures with tunable proton conductivity, which reaches up to 1.37×10-5 S cm-1.

RESUMO

A stereocontrolled self-assembly of 5d/4f heterometal-organic macrocycles has been realized by a post-assembly chiral auxiliary approach. Interligand π-π stacking interactions promoted chiral transfer from point-chirality of the auxiliary ligand to metal centers and then the helicates to produced CD and CPL active europium assemblies, facilitating a feasible enantiomeric excess determination by induced chiroptical signals.

RESUMO

A series of strongly luminescent 5d/4f heterometal-organic macrocycles formulated as Ln2(Pt-L)2 have been constructed from a preformed cis-blocked alkynylplatinum metalloligand (Pt-L) and lanthanide (Ln = LaIII, EuIII, LuIII) ions. Open metal sites on the lanthanide centres of the heterometal-organic macrocycles facilitate not only the post-assembly modification leading to great enhancement of the luminescence, but also the displacement sensing toward toxic thiophosphonates.
