PURPOSE: The objective of this study was to validate a scale that could help surgeons evaluate patients' psychological readiness to return to sport (RTS) after peroneal tendon pathology surgery. METHODS: The Ankle Ligament Reconstruction-Return to Sport after Injury (ALR-RSI) scale, which had previously been validated in ankle ligament reconstruction patients, was adapted to evaluate the psychological preparedness for RTS in athletic patients who underwent peroneal tendinopathy surgery. The Foot and Ankle Outcome Score (FAOS) and Foot Ankle Ability Measurement (FAAM) scores were employed as patient-related outcome measurement (PROM) instruments. RESULTS: This study included 57 patients. There was a strong correlation between ALR-RSI and both FAOS and FAAM (r = -0.68 and 0.74, respectively). ALR-RSI was considerably higher in patients who returned to sports than in those who did not. The mean score was 72.9 ± 19.0 in patients who returned to the same preinjury level, 48.5 ± 24.0 in those who returned to a lower level and 53.6 ± 31.1 in patients who changed their athletic activity (p < 0.0001). Furthermore, ALR-RSI showed at least a similar discrimination ability when compared to FAOS and FAAM. The test-retest intraclass correlation coefficient was 0.95. The Cronbach's α statistic used to measure the internal consistency was high (0.95). A Youden index of 0.65 was observed for a cut-off score of 68 points. CONCLUSION: ALR-RSI is a valid instrument for assessing psychological readiness to RTS in an athletic population following peroneal tendon surgery. When compared to the most commonly used PROMs, it was strongly correlated and demonstrated at least similar discrimination capacity. This could assist surgeons in identifying athletes who will have poor postoperative results and advising them on their capability to RTS. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Level III.

As a typical component of remote sensing signals, remote sensing image (RSI) information plays a strong role in showing macro, dynamic and accurate information on the earth's surface and environment, which is critical to many application fields. One of the core technologies is the object detection (OD) of RSI signals (RSISs). The majority of existing OD algorithms only consider medium and large objects, regardless of small-object detection, resulting in an unsatisfactory performance in detection precision and the miss rate of small objects. To boost the overall OD performance of RSISs, an improved detection framework, I-YOLO-V5, was proposed for OD in high-altitude RSISs. Firstly, the idea of a residual network is employed to construct a new residual unit to achieve the purpose of improving the network feature extraction. Then, to avoid the gradient fading of the network, densely connected networks are integrated into the structure of the algorithm. Meanwhile, a fourth detection layer is employed in the algorithm structure in order to reduce the deficiency of small-object detection in RSISs in complex environments, and its effectiveness is verified. The experimental results confirm that, compared with existing advanced OD algorithms, the average accuracy of the proposed I-YOLO-V5 is improved by 15.4%, and the miss rate is reduced by 46.8% on the RSOD dataset.

Ankle injuries account for 15% to 25% of all sports injuries resulting in significant pain and loss of function. The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to validate a scale to help surgeons quantify the psychological readiness to Return To Sport (RTS) in patients undergoing ankle fracture surgery. ALR-RSI was used to assess the psychological readiness for RTS in athletic patients who underwent ankle fracture fixation between January 2020 and January 2021. Participants filled out ALR-RSI and 2 Patient-Related Outcome Measurement (PROM) tools: Olerud-Molander Ankle Score (OMAS) and Self-Reported Foot and Ankle Score (SEFAS). A total of 93 patients were included. There was a strong correlation between ALR-RSI and both OMAS and SEFAS, with Pearson coefficients of r = 0.58 and 0.53, respectively. ALR-RSI was significantly higher in the RTS group than in those who no longer practiced their main preinjury sport. Moreover, the discriminant validity of ALR-RSI (AUC = 0.81) was better than that of the SEFAS and OMAS (AUC = 0.64 and 0.65, respectively, p = .001). The intra-class correlation coefficient ρ of 0.94 showed excellent reproducibility. At an optimal cutoff value of 76.7, ALR-RSI had a sensitivity of 81% and a specificity of 75% with a Youden index of 0.56. In conclusion, ALR-RSI was a valid and reproducible tool to evaluate the psychological readiness for RTS in an active population after an ankle fracture. This score could help surgeons identify athletes who may have unfavorable postoperative outcomes and provide support on the ability to RTS.

PURPOSE: The return to sport is one of the main goals following Achilles tendon tear repair. Several psychological factors influence the return to sport after a sports injury. The traditional tools to assess the return to sport do not take into account psychological factors. The ankle ligament reconstruction-return to sport injury (ALR-RSI), validated for ankle instability, is a score to evaluate psychological readiness to return to sport. The goal of this study was to validate the ALR-RSI score for the assessment of the readiness to return to sport after Achilles tendon repair. METHODS: The ALR-RSI score, adapted from the anterior cruciate ligament-return to sport injury (ACL-RSI) score used following knee ligament reconstruction, was validated according to the international COSMIN methodology. Patients operated for Achilles tendon repair responded to the questionnaire during the rehabilitation period. The EFAS, FAAM and VISA-A scores were used as reference questionnaires. RESULTS: A total of 50 patients were included. The ALR-RSI score was strongly (r > 0.5) correlated to the EFAS score: r = 0.68 [0.50-0.80] the FAMM sport score: r = 0.7 [0.52-0.84] the FAAM AVQ score (r = 0.6 [0.35-0.78]), and the VISA-A score (r = 0.54 [0.26-0.76]). The discriminant validity was good with the ALR-RSI, which was significantly lower in the patients that did not return to sport: 60.7 (40-81.4) compared to those that did: 83.2 (64.3-100) p = 0.001. Reproducibility was excellent with an intra-class correlation coefficient ρ of 0.99 [097-1.00]. The internal consistency was excellent (alpha coefficient = 0.95). CONCLUSION: The ALR-RSI score provides a valid, reproducible assessment of the psychological readiness to return to sport in patients who undergo surgical Achilles tendon suture repair. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: III.

BACKGROUND: Prehospital neuroprotective strategies aim to prevent secondary insults (SIs) in traumatic brain injury (TBI). This includes haemodynamic optimisation in addition to oxygenation and ventilation targets achieved through rapid sequence intubation (RSI).The primary aim was to report the incidence and prevalence of SIs (prolonged hypotension, prolonged hypoxia and hyperventilation) and outcomes of patients with TBI who were intubated in the prehospital setting. METHODS: A retrospective cohort study of adult patients with TBI who underwent RSI by a metropolitan road-based service in South-East Queensland, Australia between 1 January 2017 and 31 December 2020. Patients were divided into two cohorts based on the presence or absence of any SI sustained. Prolonged SIs were defined as occurring for ≥5 min. The association between SIs and mortality was examined in multivariable logistic regression and reported with adjusted ORs (aORs) and 95% CIs. RESULTS: 277 patients were included for analysis. Median 'Head' Abbreviated Injury Scale and Injury Severity Score were 4 (IQR: 3-5) and 26 (IQR: 17-34), respectively. Most episodes of prolonged hypotension and prolonged hypoxia were detected with the first patient contact on scene. Overall, 28-day mortality was 26%. Patients who sustained any SI had a higher mortality than those sustaining no SI (34.9% vs 14.7%, p<0.001). Prolonged hypoxia was an independent predictor of mortality (aOR 4.86 (95% CI 1.65 to 15.61)) but not prolonged hypotension (aOR 1.45 (95% CI 0.5 to 4.25)) or an end-tidal carbon dioxide <30 mm Hg on hospital arrival (aOR 1.28 (95% CI 0.5 to 3.21)). CONCLUSION: SIs were common in the early phase of prehospital care. The association of prolonged hypoxia and mortality in TBI is potentially more significant than previously recognised, and if corrected early, may improve outcomes. There may be a greater role for bystander intervention in prevention of early hypoxic insult in TBI.

In 2020 and 2021, the cryptocurrency market attracted millions of new traders and investors. Lack of regulation, high liquidity, and modern exchanges significantly lowered the entry threshold for new market participants. In 2021, over 5 million Americans were regularly involved in cryptocurrency trading. At that time, the interest in market indicators and trading strategies remained low, leading to the conclusion that most investors did not use decision-support indicators. The correct and backtested use of technical analysis signals can give the trader a significant advantage over most market participants. This work introduces an algorithmic approach to examining the effectiveness of the signals generated by one of the most popular market indicators, the Relative Strength Index (RSI). A model corresponding to an actual cryptocurrency exchange was used to backtest the strategies. The results show that the RSI as a momentum indicator in the cryptocurrency market involves high risk. Using alternative RSI applications can allow traders to gain an advantage in the cryptocurrency market. Comparing the results with the traditional buy and hold strategy shows the credible potential of the indicated method and the usage of signals generated by the technical analysis indicators.

Perilla frutescens leaves are hypothesized to possess antioxidant and amyloid-ß (Aß) aggregation inhibitory properties primarily due to their polyphenol-type compounds. While these bioactivities fluctuate daily, the traditional methods for quantifying constituent contents and functional properties are both laborious and impractical for immediate field assessments. To address this limitation, the present study introduces an expedient approach for on-site analysis, employing fluorescence spectra obtained through excitation light irradiation of perilla leaves. Standard analytical techniques were employed to evaluate various constituent contents (chlorophyl (Chl), total polyphenol content (TPC), total flavonoid content (TFC), and rosmarinic acid (RA)) and functional attributes (DPPH radical scavenging activity, ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP), oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC), and Aß aggregation inhibitory activity). Correlations between the fluorescence spectra and these parameters were examined using normalized difference spectral index (NDSI), ratio spectral index (RSI), and difference spectral index (DSI) analyses. The resulting predictive model exhibited a high coefficient of determination, with R2 values equal to or greater than 0.57 for constituent contents and 0.49 for functional properties. This approach facilitates the convenient, simultaneous, and nondestructive monitoring of both the chemical constituents and the functional capabilities of perilla leaves, thereby simplifying the determination of optimal harvest times. The model derived from this method holds promise for real-time assessments, indicating its potential for the simultaneous evaluation of both constituents and functionalities in perilla leaves.

BACKGROUND: There are few studies examining anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) and RAMP lesion repair. However, no studies have investigated the level of functional performance and psychological state after ACLR and all-inside RAMP lesion repair. HYPOTHESIS/PURPOSE: The aim of this study is to determine the effect of ACLR and RAMP lesion repair on psychological status. ACLR and meniscal RAMP lesion repair were hypothesized to be associated with better psychological outcomes. STUDY DESIGN: This is a cohort study. METHODS: Patients who underwent ACLR with semitendinosus and gracilis autografts by a single surgeon were determined retrospectively. Fifteen patients who underwent ACLR and all-inside meniscus RAMP lesion repair (ACLR-RR) and 15 patients who underwent isolated ACLR were compared. Patients were evaluated by a physiotherapist at least 9 months after surgery. The primary outcome measure was anterior cruciate ligament-return to sports after injury (ACL-RSI), and the psychological status of the patients was examined. Secondary outcomes were visual analog scale (VAS), Tegner activity score, Lysholm knee score, single hop tests, and limb symmetry index (LSI). While pain intensity at rest and during movement was evaluated with VAS, functional performance level was evaluated with the Tegner activity score, the Lysholm knee score, single hop tests, and limb symmetry index (LSI). RESULTS: A significant difference was found in the ACL-RSI values in the ACLR-RR group compared to the isolated ACLR group (p = 0.02). The results of the groups in VAS scores at rest and during movement, Tegner activity levels, and Lysholm knee scores, in the intact and operated leg single hop tests (single leg hop, cross hop, triple hop, and six-meter hop test), and the LSI values in the single leg hop tests showed no significant difference. CONCLUSIONS: This study revealed different psychological outcomes and similar functional levels for ACLR and all-inside meniscus RAMP repair compared with isolated ACLR. It was observed that the psychological status of patients with RAMP lesions should also be evaluated.

PURPOSE: Restriction spectrum imaging (RSI) decomposes the diffusion-weighted MRI signal into separate components of known apparent diffusion coefficients (ADCs). The number of diffusion components and optimal ADCs for RSI are organ-specific and determined empirically. The purpose of this work was to determine the RSI model for breast tissues. METHODS: The diffusion-weighted MRI signal was described using a linear combination of multiple exponential components. A set of ADC values was estimated to fit voxels in cancer and control ROIs. Later, the signal contributions of each diffusion component were estimated using these fixed ADC values. Relative-fitting residuals and Bayesian information criterion were assessed. Contrast-to-noise ratio between cancer and fibroglandular tissue in RSI-derived signal contribution maps was compared to DCE imaging. RESULTS: A total of 74 women with breast cancer were scanned at 3.0 Tesla MRI. The fitting residuals of conventional ADC and Bayesian information criterion suggest that a 3-component model improves the characterization of the diffusion signal over a biexponential model. Estimated ADCs of triexponential model were D1,3 = 0, D2,3 = 1.5 × 10-3 , and D3,3 = 10.8 × 10-3 mm2 /s. The RSI-derived signal contributions of the slower diffusion components were larger in tumors than in fibroglandular tissues. Further, the contrast-to-noise and specificity at 80% sensitivity of DCE and a subset of RSI-derived maps were equivalent. CONCLUSION: Breast diffusion-weighted MRI signal was best described using a triexponential model. Tumor conspicuity in breast RSI model is comparable to that of DCE without the use of exogenous contrast. These data may be used as differential features between healthy and malignant breast tissues.

KEY MESSAGE: PWR, an epigenetic regulator, and PIF4, a transcription factor coordinately regulate both local resistance and systemic acquired resistance in Arabidopsis. A plant that gets infected once becomes resistant to subsequent infections through the development of systemic acquired resistance (SAR). Primary-infected tissues generate mobile signals that travel to systemic tissues and cause epigenetic changes associated with the SAR activation. Epigenetic regulators and the process of infection memory development are largely obscure for plants. POWERDRESS (PWR), a SANT domain-containing histone deacetylation (HDAC) promoting gene, is essential for thermomorphogenesis. Here we show that PWR is required for the SAR activation in Arabidopsis. The pwr mutants in Ler and Col-0 background possess normal local resistance but are defective in SAR. PHYTOCHROME-INTERACTING FACTOR 4 (PIF4) genetically interacts with PWR for flowering and thermomorphogenesis and is a negative regulator of basal immunity. We found a cooperative function for suppressing basal immunity and SAR activation by PIF4 and PWR, respectively. PWR promotes the expression of SA biosynthesis genes and the accumulation of SA in the systemic tissues. RSI1/FLD, which influences histone methylation and acetylation, is essential to infection memory development in Arabidopsis. Our results show that PWR and RSI1 positively regulate each other's expression. Exogenous application of HDAC inhibitor sodium butyrate abolishes SAR-mediated SA accumulation, expression of PR1 gene, and protection against pathogens after challenge inoculation. The results indicate the possibility of the involvement of HDAC activity of PWR in the formation of infection memory development in Arabidopsis.

OBJECTIVE: To explore whether use of baclofen as adjunct treatment to voice therapy (VT) led to improvement in subjective throat symptoms in patients with primary muscle tension dysphonia (MTD). MTD is associated with excessive paralaryngeal muscle contraction, and baclofen is a muscle relaxant. STUDY DESIGN: Cross-sectional, questionnaire-based study. METHODS: An initial pool of patients, who were diagnosed with primary MTD and received 1+ VT session(s) at a single tertiary-care center from 2015 to 2019, were placed into either a baclofen group (prescribed 10 mg baclofen t.i.d. PRN along with VT) based on symptomatology or non-baclofen group (VT alone). They were administered questionnaires via postage mail or phone that included the Voice Handicap Index-10 (VHI-10), Reflux Symptom Index (RSI), and other survey elements. A retrospective chart review collected demographic and other clinical data from recruited participants. RESULTS: A total of 314 non-baclofen and 63 baclofen patients met the inclusion criteria of this study, with 37 non-baclofen patients (mean age = 47.5 years, 62.2% female) and 15 baclofen patients (mean age = 45.5 years, 73.3% female) recruited. There was no significant difference in mean [SD] VHI-10 scores (11.30 [8.20] vs. 12.60 [10.75]; p = 0.638) and RSI scores (13.46 [10.44] vs. 16.20 [10.65]; p = 0.398) between non-baclofen and baclofen groups, respectively. CONCLUSION: There was no significant difference in voice psychometric outcomes between non-baclofen and baclofen groups, measured primarily by the VHI-10 and RSI questionnaire components. Further studies are warranted to assess the efficacy and safety of baclofen as a therapeutic option for MTD.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the diagnostic efficacy of pepsin concentration in saliva for laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) disease. METHODS: In this study, we recruited 40 participants with abnormal sensation of throat into the study who visited our hospital from March 2020 to December 2020. The 24 h multichannel intraluminal impedance and pH monitoring (24 h MII-pH), reflux symptom index (RSI) and reflux finding score (RFS), pepsin concentration in saliva were collected. The Cohen's kappa test and receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curves were performed to determine and compare the sensitivity and specificity of five diagnostic methods: RSI; RFS, pepsin concentration, RSI + RFS, RSI + RFS + pepsin concentration. RESULTS: The area under the curve (AUC) of RSI, RFS, pepsin concentration, RSI + RFS, RSI + RFS + pepsin concentration were 0.767, 0.733, 0.870, 0.750,0.867, respectively. That is, the pepsin concentration has maximum AUC (the cutoff point is 219.47 (ng/mL); the sensitivity and 1-specificity is 0.300, 0.933, respectively.). The positive predictive value was 90.3% (28/31), and the negative predictive value was 77.8% (7/9). The Cohen's kappa coefficients of the five diagnostic subgroups were: RSI 0.486 (95% CI 0.207-0.764, P = 0.001); RFS 0.333 (95% CI 0.021-0.644, P = 0.032); RSI + RFS: 0.517 (95% CI 0.205-0.829, P = 0.001); pepsin concentration: 0.699 (95% CI 0.379-0.931, P = 0.001); RSI + RFS + pepsin concentration: 0.500 (95% CI 0.181-0.819, P < 0.001). CONCLUSION: The pepsin concentration has the maximum AUC area and highest consistency with the 24 h MII-pH. Therefore, it has certain value in the screening and diagnosis of diseases related to LPR disease.

PURPOSE: The timing of psychological and physical recovery after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction represents an open issue in current orthopedic practice. Several tools have been developed to evaluate these factors, with the most recent being represented by the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) return to sport injury scale (ACL-RSI). The aims of this study were to provide a validated Italian translation of the ACL-RSI in a population of sport patients, and to identify a possible correlation of the ACL-RSI score with the return to sport (RTS) time and the level of sport participation in comparison to the pre-injury one. METHODS: The Italian translation and cultural adaptation of the scale were completed using a using the "translation-back translation" method. A total of 130 patients were enrolled and completed the study questionnaires 6 months after ACL reconstruction. Randomly, 65 of them were re-tested for the ACL-RSI within 2 weeks. The internal consistency, reliability, feasibility, and construct validity of the Italian version of ACL-RSI were assessed and compared to Italian version of the KOOS, the Lysholm Score, the AKPS and the IKDC subjective score. Responsiveness was tested comparing patients returning to sport at 6 and 12 months. The Tegner activity scale was collected at baseline, 6 and 12 months to identify the level of activity after return to sport, in relation to the ACL-RSI score. RESULTS: The Italian adaptation of the ACL-RSI demonstrated excellent internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = 0.953), reliability (test-retest ICC = 0.916) and feasibility, with no ceiling or floor effect. Construct validity was confirmed by the moderate to strong correlation with all the other scales (p < 0.0001). Slight and non-significant higher ACL-RSI score was shown by patients returned to sport at 6 or 12 months after surgery. Nevertheless, the ACL-RSI score at 6 months was significantly different between patients who returned and those who did not returned to the same level of sport activity 12 months after the procedure. CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrated that the Italian ACL-RSI is a reliable tool for evaluating the psychological readiness for return to sports of athletes who underwent ACL reconstruction, especially when collected at the end of the rehabilitation process. Since the IT ACL-RSI used in this study is a faithful translation of the original English version, this finding can be generalized to other cultural contexts and languages too. PURPOSE: Psychological readiness scores have been developed to optimize the return to play in many sports-related injuries. The purpose of this study was to statistically validate the ankle ligament reconstruction-return to sport injury (ALR-RSI) scale after modified Broström-Gould (MBG) procedure. METHODS: A similar version of the ACL-RSI scale with 12 items was adapted to quantify the psychological readiness to RTS after MBG and to describe construct validity, discriminant validity, feasibility, reliability and internal consistency of the scale, according to the COSMIN methodology. The term "knee" was replaced by "ankle". The AOFAS and Karlsson scores were used as references patient-related outcome measurements (PROMs). RESULTS: A total of 71 patients were included. The ALR-RSI score after MBG procedure was highly (r > 0.5) correlated to the AOFAS and Karlsson scores, with a Pearson coefficient r = 0.69 [0.54-0.80] and 0.72 [0.53-0.82], respectively. The mean ALR-RSI score was significantly greater in the subgroup of 55 patients who resumed sports activity compared to those that no longer practiced sport: 61.9 (43.8-79.6) vs 43.4 (25.0-55.6), (p = 0.01). The test-retest showed an "excellent" reproducibility with a ρ intraclass correlation coefficient of 0.93 [0.86-0.96]. The Cronbach's alpha statistic was 0.95, attesting an "excellent" internal consistency between the 12 ALR-RSI items. CONCLUSION: The ALR-RSI score is a valid and reproducible tool for the assessment of psychological readiness to RTS after an MBG procedure for the management of CLAI, in a young and active population. The ALR-RSI score may help to identify and counsel athletes on their ability to return to sport. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: III.

BACKGROUND: Hypotension following intubation and return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) after cardiac arrest is associated with poorer patient outcomes. In patients with a sustained ROSC requiring emergency anaesthesia, there is limited evidence to guide anaesthetic practice. At the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust, a UK-based helicopter emergency medical service, we assessed the relative haemodynamic stability of two different induction agents for post-cardiac arrest medical patients requiring prehospital emergency anaesthesia (PHEA). METHODS: We performed a retrospective database review over a 5-year period between December 2014 and December 2019 comparing ketamine-based and midazolam-based anaesthesia in this patient cohort. Our primary outcome was clinically significant hypotension within 30 min of PHEA, defined as a new systolic BP less than 90 mm Hg, or a 10% drop if less than 90 mm Hg before induction. RESULTS: One hundred ninety-eight patients met inclusion criteria. Forty-eight patients received a ketamine-based induction, median dose (IQR) 1.00 (1.00-1.55) mg/kg, and a 150 midazolam-based regime, median dose 0.03 (0.02-0.04) mg/kg. Hypotension occurred in 54.2% of the ketamine group and 50.7% of the midazolam group (p=0.673). Mean maximal HRs within 30 min of PHEA were 119 beats/min and 122 beats/min, respectively (p=0.523). A shock index greater than 1.0 beats/min/mm Hg and age greater than 70 years were both associated with post-PHEA hypotension with ORs 1.96 (CI 1.02 to 3.71) and 1.99 (CI 1.01 to 3.90), respectively. Adverse event rates did not significantly differ between groups. CONCLUSION: PHEA following a medical cardiac arrest is associated with potentially significant cardiovascular derangements when measured up to 30 min after induction of anaesthesia. There was no demonstrable difference in post-induction hypotension between ketamine-based and midazolam-based PHEA. Choice of induction agent alone is insufficient to mitigate haemodynamic disturbance, and alternative strategies should be used to address this.

An important component of wildlife management and conservation is monitoring the health and population size of wildlife species. Monitoring the population size of an animal group can inform researchers of habitat use, potential changes in habitat and resulting behavioral adaptations, individual health, and the effectiveness of conservation efforts. Arboreal monkeys are difficult to monitor as their habitat is often poorly accessible and most monkey species have some degree of camouflage, making them hard to observe in and below the tree canopy. Surveys conducted using uninhabited aerial vehicles (UAVs) equipped with thermal infrared (TIR) cameras can help overcome these limitations by flying above the canopy and using the contrast between the warm body temperature of the monkeys and the cooler background vegetation, reducing issues with impassable terrain and animal camouflage. We evaluated the technical and procedural elements associated with conducting UAV-TIR surveys for arboreal and terrestrial macaque species. Primary imaging missions and analyses were conducted over a monkey park housing approximately 160 semi-free-ranging Japanese macaques (Macaca fuscata). We demonstrate Repeat Station Imaging (RSI) procedures using co-registered TIR image pairs facilitate the use of image differencing to detect targets that were moving during rapid sequence imaging passes. We also show that 3D point clouds may be generated from highly overlapping UAV-TIR image sets in a forested setting using structure from motion (SfM) image processing techniques. A point cloud showing area-wide elevation values was generated from TIR imagery, but it lacked sufficient point density to reliably determine the 3D locations of monkeys.

Background and Objectives: Low back pain is a worldwide health problem. An early diagnosis is required to develop personalized treatment strategies. The Risk Stratification Index (RSI) was developed to serve the purpose. The aim of this pilot study is to cross-culturally translate the RSI to a French version (RSI-F) and evaluate the test-retest reliability of RSI-F using a French active population. Materials and Methods: The RSI was translated from German to French (RSI-F) based on the guidelines of cross-cultural adaptation of self-report measures. A total of 42 French recreational athletes (age 18−63 years) with non-specific low back pain were recruited and filled in the RSI-F twice. The test-retest reliability was examined using intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC1,2) and Pearson correlation coefficient. Results: Finally, 33 questionnaires were analyzed (14 males and 19 females, age 31 ± 10 years, 9.5 ± 3.2 h/week of training). The test-retest of RSI-F CPI and DISS were excellent (CPI: ICC1,2 = 0.989, p < 0.001; r = 0.989, p < 0.001; DISS: ICC1,2 = 0.991, p < 0.001; r = 0.991, p < 0.001), as well as Korff pain intensity (ICC1,2 = 0.995, p < 0.001; r = 0.995, p < 0.001) and disability (ICC1,2 = 0.998, p < 0.001; r = 0.998, p < 0.001). Conclusion: The RSI-F is linguistically accurate and reliable for use by a French-speaking active population with non-specific low back pain. The RSI-F is considered a tool to examine the evolution of psychosocial factors and therefore the risk of chronicity and the prognostic of pain. Further evaluations, such as internal, external validity, and responsiveness should be evaluated in a larger population.

BACKGROUND: The timing of a return to sport (RTS) after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) represents a major subject of debate in sports medicine practice. Recently, the Knee Santy Athletic Return to Sport (K-STARTS) composite test was validated. This consists of a battery of physical tests and a psychological evaluation using the anterior cruciate ligament-return to sport after injury scale (ACL-RSI). This study aimed to translate the ACL-RSI and K-STARTS from English to Italian and determine the scale's reliability and validity in an Italian context. METHODS: The translation and cultural adaptation process was performed according to the guidelines for the cross-cultural adaptation of self-report measures. The patients were asked to fill an anonymized online form created for this purpose that included the KOOS, the Lysholm, the IKDC-SKF, and the Italian translation of the ACL-RSI (ACL-RSI-It). After 1 week, the attendees were asked to repeat the ACL-RSI-It to investigate the test-retest reliability. RESULTS: The final study population comprised 115 patients who underwent ACLR, with a mean follow-up of 37.37 ± 26.56 months. The ACL-RSI-It showed axcellent internal consistency (Cronbach's α = 0.963), reliability (test-retest ICC = 0.966), and good construct validity (positive correlations with the other scales were above 75%). CONCLUSIONS: The ACL-RSI-It is valid, reliable, and comparable to the original English version of the questionnaire for Italian-speaking patients. It can be used to assess the psychological readiness of patients for a RTS after primary and unilateral ACLR, and can be integrated into the Italian K-STARTS test. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Level II.

WRKY transcription factors have been implicated in plant response to pathogens but how WRKY-mediated networks are organized and operate to produce appropriate transcriptional outputs remains largely unclear. Here, we identify a member of the WRKY family from pepper (Capsicum annuum), CaWRKY28, that physically interacts with CaWRKY40, a positive regulator of pepper immunity and thermotolerance. We confirmed CaWRKY28-CaWRKY40 interaction by coimmunoprecipitation, bimolecular fluorescence complementation, and microscale thermophoresis. Our findings supported the idea that CaWRKY28 is a nuclear protein that acts as positive regulator in pepper responses to infection by the pathogenic bacterium Ralstonia solanacearum. It performs its function not by directly modulating the W-box containing immunity-related genes but by promoting CaWRKY40 via physical interaction to bind and activate its immunity-related target genes, including CaPR1, CaNPR1, CaDEF1, and CaABR1, but not its thermotolerance-related target gene, CaHSP24. All of these data indicate that CaWRKY28 interacts with and potentiates CaWRKY40 in regulating immunity against R. solanacearum infection but not thermotolerance. Importantly, we discovered that CaWRKY28 Cys249, shared by CaWRKY28 and its orthologs probably only in the family Solanaceae, is crucial for the CaWRKY28-CaWRKY40 interaction. These results highlight how CaWRKY28 associates with CaWRKY40 during the establishment of WRKY networks, and how CaWRKY40 achieves its functional specificity during pepper responses to R. solanacearum infection.[Formula: see text] Copyright © 2021 The Author(s). Apnoeic oxygenation (ApOx) has been demonstrated to reduce the incidence of desaturation, although evidence of benefit has been conflicting depending on the technique used. The aim of this study was to compare the incidence of desaturation between patients who received ApOx via conventional nasal cannula (NC) and those who did not, using a large, multicentre airway registry. METHODS: This study is an analysis of 24 months of prospectively collected data in the Australia and New Zealand Emergency Department Airway Registry (June 2013-June 2015). The registry includes information on all intubated adults from 43 emergency departments. Patients intubated during cardiac arrest (n=393), those who received active ventilation prior to the first intubation attempt (n=486), and where the use of ApOx was not recorded either way (n=312) were excluded. The proportion of patients who desaturated (Sa02 <93) in the group that received ApOx and those that did not were compared. To evaluate the association of ApOx with patient desaturation, a logistic regression model based on factors expected to influence desaturation was performed. RESULTS: Of 2519 patients analysed, 1669 (66.3%) received ApOx via NC while 850 (33.7%) did not. Desaturation in the cohort receiving ApOx was 10.4% compared with standard care (no ApOx) 13.7%. ApOx had a protective effect for desaturation (OR 0.71 95% CI 0.53 to 0.95). Single intubation attempt was associated with reduced risk of desaturation of (OR 0.10, 95% CI 0.06 to 0.17); this was increased on second attempt (OR 0.37, 95% CI 0.21 to 0.68). Desaturation was also associated with the physician recording that they had anticipated a difficult airway (OR 1.83, 95% CI 1.34 to 2.48). CONCLUSION: This large multicentre registry study provides evidence that ApOx delivered through a conventional NC is associated with a lower incidence of desaturation in patients undergoing rapid sequence intubation.
