OBJECTIVE: To assess and compare, through a systematic review of the literature, the biomechanical performance of endocrowns and traditional core-crowns (with and without intracanal post) for the rehabilitation of endodontically treated teeth with severe coronal structure damage. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A systematic search was performed in MEDLINE/PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases. In-vitro studies comparing endocrowns with (post-)core-crown restorations were selected and screened by two independent reviewers. The included studies were submitted to the risk of bias analysis using the RoBDEMAT tool and the biomechanical outcomes were collected for qualitative analysis. The extracted data were presented based on comparative analyses among the included studies. RESULTS: Thirty-one studies were included: 9 studies evaluated restorations of molars, 14 for premolars, and 8 studies evaluated anterior restorations. For the majority of the studies, endocrowns showed either similar or greater survival rates under fatigue and monotonic load than (post-)core-crown restorations, irrespectively of the tooth. The endocrowns showed more favorable failure patterns than (post-)core-crowns, irrespectively of the tooth. Endocrowns produced lower stresses in the restorative material for molars and premolars and in the luting material for premolars than (post-)core-crown restorations. The included studies presented adequate information for most items of the RoBDEMAT risk of bias tool. CONCLUSION: Endocrowns showed similar or greater biomechanical performance than the traditional (post-)core-crown restorations in most of the evaluated studies. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: This systematic review showed that endocrowns present either similar or greater biomechanical performance than core-crown restorations for anterior and posterior endodontically treated teeth with severe structural damage.

Variation in tooth crown morphology plays a crucial role in species diagnoses, phylogenetic inference, and the reconstruction of the evolutionary history of the primate clade. While a growing number of studies have identified developmental mechanisms linked to tooth size and cusp patterning in mammalian crown morphology, it is unclear (1) to what degree these are applicable across primates and (2) which additional developmental mechanisms should be recognized as playing important roles in odontogenesis. From detailed observations of lower molar enamel-dentine junction morphology from taxa representing the major primate clades, we outline multiple phylogenetic and developmental components responsible for crown patterning, and formulate a tooth crown morphology framework for the holistic interpretation of primate crown morphology. We suggest that adopting this framework is crucial for the characterization of tooth morphology in studies of dental development, discrete trait analysis, and systematics.

Early caries diagnosis is crucial to treatment decisions in dentistry and requires identification of lesion activity: whether a carious lesion is active (progressively demineralizing) or arrested (progressively remineralizing). This study aimed to identify microtomographic (micro-CT) differences between active and arrested smooth surface enamel lesions, to quantify those micro-CT differences by creating thresholds for ex vivo caries activity assessment to serve as a future reference standard, and to validate those thresholds against the remaining sample. Extracted human permanent teeth (n = 59) were selected for sound surfaces and non-cavitated smooth surface carious lesions. Each surface was then examined for caries activity by calibrated individuals via visual-tactile examination using the International Caries Classification and Management System (ICCMS) activity criteria. Each tooth was scanned via micro-CT and the mineral density was plotted against lesion depth. The area under the curve (AUC) was calculated and represented the loss of density for the outermost 96 µm of enamel. AUC thresholds obtained from micro-CT were established to classify sound, remineralized, and demineralized surfaces against the gold standard examiner's lesion assessment of sound, inactive, and active lesions, respectively. The established AUC thresholds demonstrated moderate agreement with the assessment in identifying demineralized lesions (k = 0.45), with high sensitivity (0.73) and specificity (0.77). This study demonstrated quantifiable differences among demineralized lesions, remineralized lesions, and sound surfaces, which contributes to the establishment of micro-CT as a reference standard for caries activity that may be used to improve clinical and laboratorial dental caries evaluations.

BACKGROUND: The variability in tooth crown size (TCS) is influenced by genetic factors and might be regulated by the difference in hormonal response. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study aimed to evaluate the association between variations in TCS of permanent teeth with associated factors and genetic polymorphisms in hormonal-related genes (ESR1, ESR2 and PTH). This cross-sectional study involved dental casts from 86 individuals of both sexes. Dental casts were used to determine the maximum TCS of all fully erupted permanent teeth (except third molars) in the mesiodistal (MD) and buccolingual (BL) dimensions. Data such as sex, ethnicity, dental group (incisor, canine, premolar and molar), dental arch (upper and lower) and genetic polymorphisms of hormonal-related genes were used. The DNA from each patient was collected to evaluate the genetic polymorphisms in ESR1 (rs2234693 and rs9340799), ESR2 (rs1256049 and rs4986938) and PTH (rs694, rs6256 and rs307247) through real-time PCR. The data were submitted to statistical analysis with a significance level of 0.05. RESULTS: In the MD dimension, the sex, dental group and dental arch were associated with variation in TCS (P < .05). In the BL dimension, the sex, dental group, dental arch and polymorphism in rs694 and rs307247 were associated with variation in TCS. CONCLUSIONS: In short, this study suggests that genetic polymorphisms of PTH are associated with variations in the BL TCS of permanent human teeth.

This study aimed to assess the difference in the mesiodistal (MD) and buccolingual (BL) dimensions of primary first molars between Taiwanese boys and girls using a three-dimensional (3D) scanner (Microscribe G2 digitizer), record the coordinates in the 3D systems of Graph-R Project and reconstruct 3D images for subsequent analysis. We also determined whether the differences in these parameters between primary first molars and stainless steel crowns (SSC, 3M ESPE, No. 2-7) could be used as a reference for selecting a suitably-sized SSC and performing adjustments during restoration. The results indicated a statistically significant difference in the mesiodistal distance of lower primary first molar crowns between boys (7.75 ± 0.38 mm) and girls (7.41 ± 0.41 mm) (p < 0.05) but no differences in the mesiodistal distance of upper primary first molars between the two sexes. The mean mesiodistal distances of the upper and lower primary first molars of boys were close to SSC size 4 and 3, respectively, while those of girls were close to size 3 in both arches. Overall, the buccolingual distance between the first maxillary and mandibular molars of Taiwanese children was greater than the buccolingual distance between the 3M ESPE SSC. Reducing the buccolingual length of the abutment teeth might quickly help achieve a better fit, reduce chair time, and minimize patient discomfort. In addition, trimming the mesial and distal metal margins of SSCs might help reduce microleakage from the crown margins and improve its retention and survival rate. In conclusion, the 3D scanning and analysis method used in this study can serve as a reference for fabricating SSC to achieve better crown adaptation and improve dental procedures.

OBJECTIVE: Earlier results based on dental casts and radiographs have shown that additional X and Y chromosomes influence permanent and deciduous tooth crown sizes, with 47,XYY males exhibiting greater crown heights than 46,XY males. We studied here the effect of both X and Y chromosomes on tooth crown heights. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The series consisted of 48 47,XXY males, 22 of their male relatives, and seven 47,XXX females with five female relatives. The population controls consisted of 27 males and 33 females. Measurements of all applicable teeth except for the third molars on both sides of the jaws were made on panoramic radiographs with a sliding digital calliper. RESULTS: Apart from a few teeth, the mean crown heights in the 47,XXY males were greater than those in the male population controls, the differences being statistically significant for one tooth in the maxilla and ten teeth in the mandible. With the exception of two teeth, the 47,XXX females had taller tooth crowns than the female population controls, the differences in the two teeth being statistically significant. The 47,XXY males had greater tooth crown heights than the 47,XXX females, except in one tooth, and the differences were significant in two teeth. The tooth crown heights of the male relatives of the 47,XXY males and the female relatives of the 47,XXX females were close to those in the general population. CONCLUSIONS: The present results demonstrated the effect of additional X and Y chromosomes in increasing crown heights. The differences between the 47,XXY males and 47,XXX females indicated a stronger effect of a Y chromosome on tooth crown height than of an X chromosome.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the construction process of the digital reference crown models, and to initially establish the digital reference crown models of the primary teeth to lay the foundation for the establishment of the standardized crown models and the future related applications of computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacture (CAD/CAM) technology to pediatric dentistry. METHODS: This study randomly selected children who were caries free, aged from 4 to 5 years in several kindergartens of Haidian District of Beijing.Plaster dental models were made for the children after taking complete impressions.The digital dental models were reconstructed by using the three-dimensional (3D) dental model scanner.And then, Geomagic Studio, a 3D reverse engineering software, was employed to extract the single dental crown data, the mesiodistal and buccolingual diameters and the height of the crowns were measured.The object was reduced or enlarged by a numerical factor, and then the size of each dental crown was standardized.A total of 3-5 points features on the crown were created, and all the objects were aligned through the functions of feature-based alignment.Finally, through average-based object creation and smoothing, the digital models of reference crowns of the primary teeth were established. RESULTS: A total of 40 plaster dental models from 16 boys and 26 girls were selected out for our further study.The digital dental models were reconstructed, and the mesiodistal and buccolingual diameters and the height of the crowns were measured by using reverse engineering technology.Comparing the results of using mesiodistal diameter, buccolingual diameter and height as the standards, we chose the mesiodistal diameters of crowns to do the standardization, and successfully established the digital reference models of 20 primary teeth crowns with detailed surface characteristics. CONCLUSION: In this study, the digital reference crown models of the primary teeth were established by reverse engineering technology, providing reference value for the standardized crown models and application for clinical practice, scientific research and teaching.Furthermore, this study also contributes to the extensive application of CAD/CAM technology in pediatric dentistry and the development of CAD/CAM dental systems with independent intellectual property rights.

As the tissue most directly responsible for breaking down food in the oral cavity, the form and function of enamel is obviously of evolutionary significance in humans, non-human primates and other vertebrates. Accordingly, a standard metric, relative enamel thickness (RET), has been used for many decades to provide insights into vertebrate and human palaeobiology. Relatively thick enamel has evolved many times in vertebrates including hominoids (the group to which living humans and fossil hominins belong), and this pattern is thought to provide information about taxonomy, phylogeny, functional anatomy and diet. In particular, relatively thick enamel is thought to make tooth crowns strong so that they resist fractures associated with eating mechanically resistant foods. Here, we use current models of tooth biomechanics to show that RET is at best only moderately informative of function and diet in living hominoids and fossil hominins, and at worst provides misleading information. We propose a new metric, absolute crown strength, to assess the resistance of teeth to fracture, and identify what may be a novel characteristic of tooth strength in fossil hominins.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of naturally occurring small non-coding RNAs that post-transcriptionally regulate gene expression in organisms. Most mammalian miRNAs influence biological processes, including developmental changes, tissue morphogenesis and the maintenance of tissue identity, cell growth, differentiation, apoptosis, and metabolism. The miR-206-3p has been correlated with cancer; however, developmental roles of this miRNA are unclear. In this study, we examined the expression pattern and evaluated the developmental regulation of miR-206-3p during tooth morphogenesis using ex-vivo culture method. The expression pattern of miR-206-3p was examined in the epithelium and mesenchyme of developing tooth germ with stage-specific manners. Perturbation of the expression of miR-206-3p clearly altered expression patterns of dental-development-related signaling molecules, including Axin2, Bmp2, Fgf4, Lef1 and Shh. The gene expression complemented with change in cellular events including, apoptosis and proliferation which caused altered crown and pulp morphogenesis in renal-capsule-calcified teeth. Especially, mislocalization of ß-Catenin and SMAD1/5/8 were observed alongside dramatic alterations in the expression patterns of Fgf4 and Shh. Overall, our data suggest that the miR-206-3p regulate the cellular physiology during tooth morphogenesis through modulation of the Wnt, Bmp, Fgf, and Shh signaling pathways to form proper tooth pulp and crown.

OBJECTIVE: This clinical case report addresses the step-by-step of the application of a core-and-post system that uses a single resin composite material to fiber post cementation and core build-up in a maxillary left central incisor. CLINICAL CONSIDERATIONS: The literature reports several materials and methods for the restoration of endodontically treated teeth with coronal destruction that require an intra-radicular fiber post for the core build-up. The present case report describes a core-and-post or "monoblock" technique. A dual resin composite (Core-X Flow; Dentsply DeTrey) highly filled material and cement was used for luting the fiber post (Blue X-Post) and build-up the core structure in an easy application. CONCLUSIONS: The "core-and-post" technique that uses a single material system protocol minimizes the material interfaces, steps of procedures, and chair-time in comparison to conventional techniques. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The use of different materials for post cementation and core build-up requires more steps, which increases the chair-time and number of interfaces among the materials. Since the "monoblock" technique uses only one material, it can streamline the clinical procedures, thus, saving time and materials. Moreover, techniques based on core-and-post systems are easily applied, versatile, and esthetics, and can be applicable to posterior and anterior teeth.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the esthetic proportions of maxillary anterior teeth in term of the apparent widths proportion of the adjacent teeth and width/height ratio of the clinical crown in 120 Chinese adults. METHODS: Maxillary gypsum casts were obtained from the dental laboratories of stomatological hospitals in North China, Southeast China, and Southwest China, according to the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria. Standardized digital photographs of each cast were recorded. The apparent widths and actual widths and heights of the central incisors, lateral incisors and canines were determined by ImageJ software for the calculation of apparent widths proportion of the adjacent teeth and width/height ratio of the clinical crown. The ideal apparent widths proportion (Golden proportion and Preston proportion) and width/height ratio (0.80) were tested. The gender, arch side, and regional differences were investigated. RESULTS: The apparent widths proportion of the lateral/central incisor was 0.724±0.047, of the canine/lateral incisor was 0.814±0.092. The width/height ratio of the central incisor was 0.848±0.072, of the lateral incisor was 0.834±0.094, of the canine was 0.883±0.098. The esthetic proportions were different from the predicted ideal ratio (P < 0.001). The apparent widths proportion of lateral/central incisor was significantly larger in the right side than that in the left side (0.730± 0.044 vs. 0.718±0.050), and was significantly smaller in North China than that in Southwest China (0.711±0.051 vs. 0.731±0.044). The width/height ratio of the central incisor was significantly larger in the female than that in the male (0.855±0.074 vs. 0.835±0.068), and in the right side than that in the left side (0.855±0.073 vs. 0.842±0.072). The width/height ratio of the lateral incisor was significantly larger in the female than that in the male (0.843±0.097 vs. 0.817±0.084). CONCLUSION: The apparent widths proportion of adjacent teeth and the width/height ratio of the clinical crown in Chinese adults are different from the foreigner's. The esthetic proportion parameters have significant population specificity, and the measurements cannot be generalized as well as it should be applied with caution.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical success of the treatment of maxillary anterior primary incisors caries with composite resin strip crowns. METHODS: Children who presented with severe early childhood caries and were treated comprehensive caries under general anesthesia from January to December 2016 were enrolled in this study. Composite crowns using preformed celluloid crown (3M ESPE, USA) called as "strip crown technique" were applied to treat vital primary incisors with two or multiple surface cavities. Selective etchings of enamel, Universal Bond adhesive and 3M Z350 resin were used to make strip crowns. The patients returned at the end of 6, 12 and 18 months and received clinical and radiologic examinations. Dentists who did not attend the treatment evaluated the strip crowns clinically by modified United States Public Health Service (USPHS) criteria. RESULTS: Four hundred eighteen restorations, placed in 127 children aged 1.17-5.75 years (average of 3.22), were evaluated. The overall retention rate was 97.8% at the end of 6 months, 93.6% at 12 months and 89.2% at 18 months. After 18 months, 28 restorations (6.7%) were totally lost and 4.1% were rated as having lost some resin material. Only four teeth (1.0%) had secondary caries at the end of 18 months and 1.4% teeth had pulpal pathology requiring root canal treatment. Composite crowns had good performance in contour and adjacent contact and improved aesthetics significantly. Twenty-nine teeth (6.9%) showed mild gingivitis and 93.1% showed healthy gingival. 11.2% of the teeth demonstrated color change because plaque accumulation and the polish could remove the stains. The complete loss of strip crowns was mainly related to eating bites. CONCLUSION: Strip crowns performed well for restoring primary incisors with large or multisurface caries for periods of over 18 months. The strip crowns can be a durable and aesthetic restoration for vital carious primary incisors with adequate tooth structure after caries removal. Functional movement is an important cause of complete loss. Because of the high technical sensitivity and its requirement of the cooperation of children, strip crowns are more suitable for older and cooperative children as well as children receiving dental treatment under sedation or general anesthesia.

The objective of the research was to determine odontological (odontometric and odontoscopic) and morpho-aesthetic variations of the upper central and lateral incisors in 14-year-old children residing in Udmurt Republic. 200 adolescent respondents (100 boys and 100 girls) were included in the study. We accessed morphological aspects of the permanent upper right and left central incisors (URCI and ULCI) in 14-year-old children born and permanently residing in conditionally ecologically favorable districts of the Udmurt Republic. Odontological variations of the permanent tooth crown shapes in early adolescent children (14-year-old) are shown; morphological, ethnic, age and gender, aesthetic features are determined. The determined odontoscopic and odontometric features of the permanent tooth crown shapes matter of scientific and practical terms and can be used to clarify ethnicity and possibly gender. The identified patterns can change and multiply the information-statistical interpretation of the ethnic and morpho-aesthetic features of the permanent teeth, and hence have an important impact when restoring damaged teeth crowns, which affect the permanent dentition smile harmony in 14-year-old adolescents born and permanently residing in the Udmurt Republic.

OBJECTIVE: Introduction: It is generally accepted that the prognosis of endodontic treatment positively correlates with the technical quality of root filling. This seems logical in the sense that the root filling is intended to create a bacterial tight seal on the root canal, so oral bacteria cannot reach the periapical tissues and cause disease. The materials that are available to seal the root canal system are not flawed, and a number of studies using different methods have suggested that even seeming adequate root fillers may not be effective over time. The aim of the study was to evaluate the possible relationship between the quality of restorative crown of the tooth, obturation of the root canal and the periapical status of the teeth that were subjected to endodontic treatment. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and methods: A series of X-ray images of randomly selected outpatient cards from patients in the dental department of the Dnipropetrovsk State Medical Academy clinic were investigated. A total of 1001 teeth that were subjected to endodontic treatment, restored by permanent restoration, were evaluated independently by two experts. According to the predetermined set of radiological criteria, the quality of filling the root canals of the tooth was assessed as good (GE), or poor (PE). In turn, the quality of thetooth crown restoration was also evaluated and recognized as good (GR) or poor (PR). Subsequently, the roots of the teeth and surrounding tissues were investigated, and according to existing or present abnormalities, the outcome of treatment was determined to be either successful or unsuccessful. RESULTS: Results: The successful outcome of endodontic treatment among all the teeth tested was found at 66.4& (n = 1001). The positive result of treatment of teeth with root posts reached 72.7& (n = 527), the success of treatment of teeth without pins was 64.6& (n = 472). The effectiveness of dental treatment, where the technically satisfactory endodontics was found to be the highest. Thus, in combination with technically satisfactory restorations, the success rate reached 82& (GE + GR), and when the restoration was technically unsatisfactory, positive results of treatment were observed in 72& of cases (GE + PR). At the same time, in those groups where endodontics was considered technically unsatisfactory, the positive result of treatment was observed significantly less often, in combination with unsatisfactory restoration, only 55& (PE + GR). If restorations were satisfactory, then somewhat more often, in 57& of the examined teeth (PE + PR). CONCLUSION: Conclusions: Thus, according to the results of the X-ray assessment of non-vital teeth, it became clear that in order to achieve a positive result, technically qualitative endodontics is more important, with the same characteristic of restoration of the crown of the tooth.

OBJECTIVES: Studies have shown that the mandibular permanent first molar (M1inf ) in young children with isolated cleft palate is characterized by delay in maturation and has reduced crown width. Consequently, it is of interest to investigate the early maturation and width of the follicle and crown of M1inf in children with combined cleft lip and palate. DESIGN: Retrospective, longitudinal study. Cephalometric X-rays of 47 consecutive Danish children with UCCLP (37 males; 10 females) and 44 with unilateral incomplete cleft lip (UICL) (29 males; 15 females) examined at 2 and 22 months of age. UICL served as control group. Maturation (according to Haavikko), width of follicle (FW) and crown (CW) of M1inf were assessed. RESULTS: The maturation of the first mandibular molar was delayed in both genders at 2 and 22 months of age. FW and CW were smaller in children with UCCLP at both 2 and 22 months of age. There was a positive correlation between maturation and FW. CONCLUSIONS: Maturation of the first mandibular molar is delayed in both genders, and FW and CW were reduced in UCCLP compared to controls. Maturation was correlated with FW.

The aim of the present study was to assess the validity of tooth-coronal index (TCI) in the age estimation. This retrospective charts review was conducted at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi from January 2016 to March 2016, and comprised 315 teeth of 80 individuals. The teeth were analysed on Orthopantomogram. TCI was calculated for unrestored mandibular premolars and molars. Pearson\\\'s correlation was applied to assess correlation between chronological age and TCI. Besides, 30(37.5%) subjects were male and 50(62.5%) female, and 140(44.4%) teeth were of male subjects and 175(55.6%) were of females. The mean correlation coefficient between chronological age and TCI was -0.27. The highest negative correlation was observed for tooth No.47 in males (r=-0.72) whereas among females the highest negative correlation was noted for tooth No.36 (r=-0.61).There was very weak correlation between age and TCI of a tooth. Therefore, TCI index could not be predictably used for age estimation in the studied population.

BACKGROUND: Laser techniques have been introduced into dentistry to overcome the drawbacks of traditional treatment methods. The existing methods in dental clinical operations for tooth crown preparation have several drawbacks which affect the long-term success of the dental treatment. OBJECTIVE: To develop an improved robotic system to manipulate the laser beam to achieve safe and accurate three-dimensional (3D) tooth ablation, and thus to realize automatic tooth crown preparation in clinical operations. METHOD: We present an automatic laser ablation system for tooth crown preparation in dental restorative operations. The system, combining robotics and laser technology, is developed to control the laser focus in three-dimensional motion aiming for high speed and accuracy crown preparation. The system consists of an end-effector, a real-time monitor and a tooth fixture. A layer-by-layer ablation method is developed to control the laser focus during the crown preparation. Experiments are carried out with picosecond laser on wax resin and teeth. RESULTS: The accuracy of the system is satisfying, achieving the average linear errors of 0.06 mm for wax resin and 0.05 mm for dentin. The angle errors are 4.33° for wax resin and 0.5° for dentin. The depth errors for wax resin and dentin are both within 0.1 mm. The ablation time is 1.5 hours for wax resin and 3.5 hours for dentin. CONCLUSIONS: The ablation experimental results show that the movement range and the resolution of the robotic system can meet the requirements of typical dental operations for tooth crown preparation. Also, the errors of tooth shape and preparation angle are able to satisfy the requirements of clinical crown preparation. Although the experimental results illustrate the potential of using picosecond lasers for 3D tooth crown preparation, many research issues still need to be studied before the system can be applied to clinical operations.

OBJECTIVE: Previous results regarding human sex chromosome aneuploidies have shown that the X and Y chromosomes affect tooth size and morphology. This study looked for the effect of sex chromosome deficiency on permanent tooth crown heights. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The material, from the Finnish KVANTTI Research Project, consisted of 97 45,X females and 15 45,X/46,XX females. The controls were 32 sisters and 28 mothers of the 45,X females, eight sisters and two mothers of the 45,X/46,XX females and 35 female population controls. Crown heights of all the available teeth except third molars on both sides of the jaws were measured from panoramic radiographs with a digital calliper according to the defined procedure. RESULTS: The tooth crown heights were significantly smaller in the 45,X females than in the female population controls, except for the incisors and one canine in the maxilla, whereas the tooth crown heights of the 45,X/46,XX females were close to those of the normal control females. The differences between the 45,X and 45,X/46,XX females were statistically significant, excluding the upper incisor area and a few teeth in the mandible. CONCLUSIONS: The effect of the sex chromosome deficiency on permanent tooth crown height is due to the magnitude of lacking sex chromosome material. The present results regarding the 45,X females are parallel to previous findings in Turner patients regarding reduced mesiodistal and labiolingual dimensions and tooth crown heights in the permanent dentition.

Tooth enamel thickness is widely studied in primates and is important in differentiating taxa and in interpreting diet and feeding behavior. The objective of this study was to measure enamel thickness and discuss whether the results can be associated with different feeding patterns. Thirty-four syncraniums of Alouatta guariba clamitans, Alouatta caraya, and Sapajus nigritus were subjected to cone beam computed tomographic (CBCT) scans, and the dental enamel was measured in different regions of the crown using the multiplanar reconstruction tool. The differences observed indicate that for many variables and teeth, A. guariba clamitans showed significantly higher values compared to the other 2 species, with the exception of the cuspid region. Although the A. guariba clamitans is a folivorous species, it showed thicker enamel for most of the variables. CBCT was efficient in performing the measurements, allowing analysis of the syncraniums.
