RESUMO

Patients with ischemic heart disease and with hyperlipidemia of the IIa, IIb and IV types as well as not exhibiting any pronounced alterations in cholesterol metabolism were treated with various amounts of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) introduced into the basic antiatherosclerotic diet: 1 group--content of the essential factor 0.2 g/day, 2 group--increased content of natural products with PUFA up to 1 g/day, 3 group--increased PUFA content due to the drug "euconol" 5 g/day. Administration of the PUFA omega-3 into the basic antiatherosclerotic diet contributed to development of adequate clinico-biochemical alterations; under these conditions content of alpha-cholesterol in blood correlated directly to concentration of polyunsaturated cholesterol esters and PUFA omega-3 (eicosapentaenate and docosahexaenate) as well as reverse correlation was found between content of total cholesterol and these molecular forms of cholesterol esters studied. Enrichment of the diet with PUFA omega-3 did not cause any alterations in content of primary bile acids in blood thus suggesting that PUFA omega-3 did not affect the cholesterol catabolism. These data enabled us to plot the graph for individual evaluation of cholesterol metabolism in patients with ischemic heart disease involving alterations in the spectrum of esterified cholesterols in blood before and after the treatment course.

RESUMO

A decrease in content of total cholesterol, triglycerides, fibrinogen, and atherogeneity index as well as increase in fibrinolytic activity and prolongation of the hemorrhage time were observed in blood serum of 20 patients with ischemic heart disease and hyperlipidemia of the IIa and IIb types maintained on anti-atherosclerotic diet containing 20 g of ichthyenic oil within 4 weeks. Relative content of polyunsaturated fatty acids omega 6 was decreased while the content of omega 3 fatty acids was distinctly increased in erythrocytes and blood platelets membranes, thus demonstrating the high efficiency of ichthyenic oil.

RESUMO

Anti-atherosclerotic diet containing 10 or 20 g of ichthyenic oil, used for treatment of 29 patients with cardiovascular diseases, caused an increase in content of polyunsaturated omega 3 fatty acids species in the patients erythrocyte membranes; this pattern may be used as a sensitive criterion of evaluation of the diet fatty component effect. Despite an increase of oxidation potential substrates in tissues, elevation of malonyl dialdehyde in blood plasma and hemolysis of erythrocytes in presence of H2O2 were not observed. This suggests absence of lipid peroxidation induction in adequate consumption of antioxidants.

RESUMO

The therapeutic effect of diets was studied in chronic enteritis patients during 5 years of dispensary follow-up. A scheme has been proposed for dietotherapy of patients under conditions of a long-term dispensary follow-up, after a course of inpatient treatment. The results obtained have proved the effectiveness of the diets used, their corrective action both on the clinical state of the patients, and on disorders in the digestive organs and metabolism.

RESUMO

The data of clinical, laboratory-biochemical and immunological investigations conducted in 75 patients with chronic pancreatitis have been analyzed. The patients who received diet therapy were investigated under clinical conditions and during dispensary follow-up (6-9 months after the discharge from the clinic). The ration, sparing mechanically and chemically the digestive organs, included on an average 120 g protein, 85 g fat and 350 g carbohydrates. The main clinical symptoms of the disease diminished under the influence of the diet therapy. Improvement of the pancreas function was recorded in the absolute majority of the patients (normalization of activity of proteolytic enzymes assayed in the blood serum: trypsin, trypsin-inhibitor, amylase, lipase). Favourable changes were also observed in immunological parameters. When the patients followed the dietetic recommendations at home, the positive effect of the diet therapy was enhanced. A conclusion has been made that patients with chronic pancreatitis should be given diet therapy not only under clinical but also under dispensary conditions, thus inhibiting the disease progressing.

RESUMO

A total of 27 patients received an anti-atherosclerotic diet containing fatty fish Greenland halibut, 100 g/day. Significant reduction of the total cholesterol level, cholesterol levels of very low and low density proteins, triglycerides, atherogenic index, elevation of blood fibrinolytic activity in the presence of lowered levels of arachidonic acid and an increased relative content of omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) were recorded in membranes of red blood cells and platelets. The results of the investigations conducted have shown that even rather low doses of omega 3 PUFA introduced in the presence of the hypolipidemic diet are conductive to the alimentary correction of the blood serum lipid spectrum of the fatty-acid content in cellular membrane structural lipids.

RESUMO

Fifty-five patients with ischemic heart disease, familial hyperlipoproteinemia type IIb and essential hypertension kept anti-atherosclerosis diet incorporating 20 g of ichthyenic oil for 4 weeks. The diet resulted in positive shifts in clinical manifestations, a fall in blood levels of total cholesterol, triglycerides, atherogenic coefficient. The clotting time and duration of hemorrhage proved longer. As to fatty acid composition of red cell and platelet membranes, proportion of omega-6 reduced, while the share of omega-3 rose. This may underly inhibited synthesis of PGE2 and PGF2 alpha noted in the examinees.
