RESUMO

The abdominal appendages of larval insects have a complex evolutionary history of gain and loss, but the regulatory mechanisms underlying the abdominal appendage development remain largely unclear. Here, we investigated the embryogenesis of abdominal prolegs in the scorpionfly Panorpa liui Hua (Mecoptera: Panorpidae) using in situ hybridization and parental RNA interference. The results show that RNAi-mediated knockdown of Ultrabithorax (Ubx) led to a homeotic transformation of the first abdominal segment (A1) into the third thoracic segment (T3) and changed the distributions of the downstream target Distal-less (Dll) expression but did not affect the expression levels of Dll. Knockdown of abdominal-A (abd-A) resulted in malformed segments, abnormal prolegs and disrupted Dll expression. The results demonstrate that the gene Ubx maintains an ancestral role of modulating A1 appendage fate without preventing Dll initiation, and a secondary adaptation of abd-A evolves the ability to specify abdominal segments and proleg identity. We conclude that changes in abdominal Hox gene expression and their target genes regulate abdominal appendage morphology during the evolutionary course of holometabolous larvae.

RESUMO

The aim is to investigate the relationship between serum coagulation parameters (PT, APTT, D-D and FDP) before hospitalization and recurrence of chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH). 236 patients with CSDH who were diagnosed for the first time and had complete medical records were followed up for at least 90 days. Fifty patients (21.2%) had relapsed. Univariate analysis was conducted including general data, imaging data and test results. Serum coagulation parameters (PT, APTT, D-D and FDP) were detected for all CSDH patients. The study identified several factors that exhibited a significant correlation with chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) recurrence. These factors included advanced age (p = 0.01), hypertension (p = 0.04), liver disease (p = 0.01), anticoagulant drug use (p = 0.01), antiplatelet drug use (p = 0.02), bilateral hematoma (p = 0.02), and single-layer hematoma (p = 0.01). In addition, the presence of fibrin/fibrinogen degradation products (FDP) exceeding 5 mg/L demonstrated a significant relationship with CSDH recurrence (P < 0.05). Notably, the combined assessment of D-dimer (D-D) and FDP exhibited a significant difference, particularly regarding recurrence within 30 days after surgery (P < 0.05). The simultaneous elevation of serum FDP and D-D levels upon admission represents a potentially novel predictor for CSDH recurrence. This finding is particularly relevant for patients who experience recurrence within 30 days following surgical intervention. Older individuals with CSDH who undergo trepanation and drainage should be closely monitored due to their relatively higher recurrence rate.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND & AIMS: We aimed to develop a Transformer-based deep learning (DL) network for prognostic stratification in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients undergoing RFA. METHODS: A Swin Transformer DL network was trained to establish associations between magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) datasets and the ground truth of microvascular invasion (MVI) based on 696 surgical resection (SR) patients with solitary HCC ≤3 cm, and was validated in an external cohort (n = 180). The multiphase MRI-based DL risk outputs using an optimal threshold of .5 was employed as a MVI classifier for prognosis stratification in the RFA cohort (n = 180). RESULTS: Over 90% of all enrolled patients exhibited hepatitis B virus infection. Liver cirrhosis was significantly more prevalent in the RFA cohort compared to the SR cohort (72.2% vs. 44.1%, p < .001). The MVI risk outputs exhibited good performance (area under the curve values = .938 and .883) for predicting MVI in the training and validation cohort, respectively. The RFA patients at high risk of MVI classified by the MVI classifier demonstrated significantly lower recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival rates at 1, 3 and 5 years compared to those classified as low risk (p < .001). Multivariate cox regression modelling of a-fetoprotein > 20 ng/mL [hazard ratio (HR) = 1.53; 95% confidence interval (95% CI): 1.02-2.33, p = .047], high risk of MVI (HR = 3.76; 95% CI: 2.40-5.88, p < .001) and unfavourable tumour location (HR = 2.15; 95% CI: 1.40-3.29, p = .001) yielded a c-index of .731 (bootstrapped 95% CI: .667-.778) for evaluating RFS after RFA. Among the three risk factors, MVI was the most powerful predictor for intrahepatic distance recurrence. CONCLUSIONS: The proposed MVI classifier can serve as a valuable imaging biomarker for prognostic stratification in early-stage HCC patients undergoing RFA.

RESUMO

Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are attracting considerable attention around the world. Phosphor materials, as crucial color-converted components, play central roles in LED development. The demands for phosphor materials have become increasingly stringent over the past decades, from high brightness to narrowband emission or function-dependent spectrum engineering. Although substantial progress has been made for currently developed phosphor materials, simultaneously satisfying all requirements for high-level applications remains challenging. In this review, we aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of the development of phosphor materials in different generations and to elucidate the key designed mechanisms concerning the activators and the host structures to fulfill the aforementioned aspects. We highlight the developments in phosphor materials through the classification of demands for high luminescence, high thermal stability, narrowband emission for high color gamut, and broadband emission for near-infrared. We also focus on elucidating the key designed mechanisms of phosphor materials in different generations. Furthermore, future perspectives about micro-LED applications and nanoluminescent materials are provided. This study opens up an avenue for designing the luminescent materials of the future.

RESUMO

SNARE proteins (soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptors) play a key role in mediating a variety of plant biological processes. Currently, the function of the SNARE gene family in phytohormonal and abiotic stress treatments in grapevine is currently unknown, making it worthwhile to characterize and analyze the function and expression of this family in grapevine. In the present study, 52 VvSNARE genes were identified and predominantly distributed on 18 chromosomes. Secondary structures showed that the VvSNARE genes family irregular random coils and α-helices. The promoter regions of the VvSNARE genes were enriched for light-, abiotic-stress-, and hormone-responsive elements. Intraspecific collinearity analysis identified 10 pairs collinear genes within the VvSNARE family and unveiled a greater number of collinear genes between grapevine and apple, as well as Arabidopsis thaliana, but less associations with Oryza sativa. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) analyses showed that the VvSNARE genes have response to treatments with ABA, NaCl, PEG, and 4 °C. Notably, VvSNARE2, VvSNARE14, VvSNARE15, and VvSNARE17 showed up-regulation in response to ABA treatment. VvSNARE2, VvSNARE15, VvSNARE18, VvSNARE19, VvSNARE20, VvSNARE24, VvSNARE25, and VvSNARE29 exhibited significant up-regulation when exposed to NaCl treatment. The PEG treatment led to significant down-regulation of VvSNARE1, VvSNARE8, VvSNARE23, VvSNARE25, VvSNARE26, VvSNARE31, and VvSNARE49 gene expression. The expression levels of VvSNARE37, VvSNARE44, and VvSNARE46 were significantly enhanced after exposure to 4 °C treatment. Furthermore, subcellular localization assays certified that VvSNARE37, VvSNARE44, and VvSNARE46 were specifically localized at the cell membrane. Overall, this study showed the critical role of the VvSNARE genes family in the abiotic stress response of grapevines, thereby providing novel candidate genes such as VvSNARE37, VvSNARE44, and VvSNARE46 for further exploration in grapevine stress tolerance research.

RESUMO

Sentiment analysis in Chinese natural language processing has been largely based on words annotated with sentiment categories or scores. Characters, however, are the basic orthographic, phonological, and in most cases, semantic units in the Chinese language. This study collected sentiment annotations for 3827 characters. The ratings demonstrated high levels of reliability, and were validated through a comparison with the ratings of some characters' word equivalents reported in a previous norming study. Relations with other lexico-semantic variables and character processing efficiency were investigated. Furthermore, analyses of the association between constituent character valence and word valence revealed semantic compositionality and sentiment fusion characteristic of larger Chinese linguistic units. These ratings for characters, expanding current Chinese sentiment lexicons, can be utilized for the purposes of more precise stimuli assessment in research on Chinese character processing and more efficient sentiment analysis equipped with annotations of single-character words.

RESUMO

Objective To evaluate the effects of total intravenous anesthesia on the circadian rhythms in the patients undergoing cardiac transcatheter closure. Methods Thirty patients undergoing cardiac transcatheter closure under elective intravenous anesthesia were included in this study.Paired t-tests were performed to compare the mRNA levels of the genes encoding circadian locomotor output cycles kaput(CLOCK),brain and muscle ARNT-1 like protein-1(BMAL1),cryptochrome 1(CRY1),and period circadian clock 2(PER2),the Munich Chronotype Questionnaire(MCTQ)score, and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)score before and after anesthesia.Multiple stepwise regression analysis was performed to screen the factors influencing sleep chronotype and PSQI total score one week after surgery. Results The postoperative mRNA level of CLOCK was higher [1.38±1.23 vs.1.90±1.47;MD(95%CI):0.52(0.20-0.84),t=3.327,P=0.002] and the postoperative mRNA levels of CRY1 [1.56±1.50 vs.1.13±0.98;MD(95%CI):-0.43(-0.81--0.05),t=-2.319,P=0.028] and PER2 [0.82±0.63 vs.0.50±0.31;MD(95%CI):-0.33(-0.53--0.12),t=-3.202,P=0.003] were lower than the preoperative levels. One week after surgery, the patients presented advanced sleep chronotype [3∶03±0∶59 vs.2∶42±0∶37;MD(95%CI):-21(-40--1),t=-2.172,P=0.038],shortened sleep latency [(67±64)min vs.(37±21)min;MD(95%CI):-30.33(-55.28--5.39),t=-2.487,P=0.019],lengthened sleep duration [(436±83)min vs.(499±83)min;MD(95%CI):62.80(26.93-98.67),t=3.581,P=0.001],increased sleep efficiency [(87.59±10.35)% vs.(92.98±4.27)%;MD(95%CI):5.39(1.21-9.58),t=2.636,P=0.013],decreased sleep quality score [1.13±0.78 vs.0.80±0.71;MD(95%CI):-0.33(-0.62--0.05),t=-2.408,P=0.023],and declined PSQI total score [6.60±3.17 vs.4.03±2.58;MD(95%CI):-2.57(-3.87--1.27),t=-4.039,P<0.001].Body mass index(BMI)(B=-227.460,SE=95.475,t=-2.382,P=0.025),anesthesia duration(B=-47.079,SE=18.506,t=-2.544,P=0.017),and mRNA level of PER2(B=2815.804,SE=1080.183,t=2.607,P=0.015)collectively influenced the sleep chronotype, and the amount of anesthesia medicine(B=0.067,SE=0.028,t=2.385,P=0.024)independently influenced the PSQI one week after surgery. Conclusions Total intravenous anesthesia can improve sleep habits by advancing sleep chronotype.BMI,anesthesia duration, and mRNA level of PER2 collectively influence sleep chronotype one week after surgery. The amount of anesthesia medicine independently influences the PSQI total score one week after surgery.

RESUMO

The Homeotic Complex (Hox) genes encode conserved homeodomain transcription factors that specify segment identity and appendage morphology along the antero-posterior axis in bilaterian animals. The Hox gene Abdominal-B (Abd-B) is mainly expressed in the posterior segments of the abdomen and plays an important role in insect organogenesis. In Mecoptera, the potential function of this gene remains unclear yet. Here, we performed a de novo transcriptome assembly and identified an Abd-B ortholog in the scorpionfly Panorpa liui. Quantitative real-time reverse transcription PCR showed that Abd-B expression increased gradually in embryos 76 h post oviposition, and was mainly present in the more posterior abdominal segments. Embryonic RNA interference of Abd-B resulted in a set of abnormalities, including developmental arrest, malformed suckers and misspecification of posterior segment identity. These results suggest that Abd-B is required for the proper development of the posterior abdomen. Furthermore, in Abd-B RNAi embryos, the expression of the appendage marker Distal-less (Dll) was up-regulated and was additionally present on abdominal segments IX and X compared with wild embryos, suggesting that scorpionfly Abd-B may act to suppress proleg development and has gained the ability to repress Dll expression on the more posterior abdominal segments. This study provides additional information on both the functional and evolutionary roles of Abd-B across different insects.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: The present study aimed to explore whether and how omega-3 (ω-3) supplementation could interact with genetic factors to modulate cognitive functions, amyloid pathologies, and Alzheimer's disease (AD) risk. METHODS: A total of 1,670 non-demented participants (mean age 73 years, 47% females, 41% APOE ε4 carriers) were followed up for 10 years. Hierarchical regressions, linear mixed-effects models, and Cox proportional hazards models were used to examine the interaction effects of ω-3 supplementation with APOE ε4 and polygenic hazard scores, after adjusting for age, gender, education, cognitive diagnosis, insomnia, depression, anxiety, and cardiovascular risk score. RESULTS: Individuals who progress to AD during the follow-up tend to take a shorter duration of ω-3 at baseline than those stable, for whom the difference remained significant only amongst APOE ε4 carriers (p < 0.01). The interaction term (APOE ε4 × ω-3) accounted for a significant amount of variance in cognition and cerebral amyloid burden. Long-term ω-3 use protected cognition (especially memory function) and lowered amyloid burden and AD risk only amongst APOE ε4 carriers. Mediation analysis suggested that amyloid pathologies, brain reserve capacities, and brain metabolism mediated the relationships of ω-3 use with memory and global cognition for APOE ε4 (+) carriers. Similar interaction and mediation effects were also indicated amongst high-risk subjects defined by polygenic hazard scores. CONCLUSIONS: Long-term ω-3 intake may have a role in AD prevention in genetically at-risk populations.

RESUMO

Organic-inorganic hybrid metal halides have recently attracted attention in the global research field for their bright light emission, tunable photoluminescence wavelength, and convenient synthesis method. This study reports the detailed properties of (C10H16N)2MnBr4, which emits bright green light with a high photoluminescence quantum yield. Results of powder X-ray diffraction, photoluminescence, thermogravimetric analysis, and Raman spectra show the phase transition of (C10H16N)2MnBr4 at 430 K. This phase transition was identified as the solid to liquid state of (C10H16N)2MnBr4. Moreover, the pressure- and temperature-induced relationship between structural and optical properties in (C10H16N)2MnBr4 can be identified. This investigation provides deep insights into the luminescent properties of metal halide crystals and promotes further research.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is one of the leading causes of death in human being, and an effective diagnostic biomarker is still lacking. Whilst some gene association with AMI has been identified by RNA sequencing (RNA-seq), the relationship between alternative splicing and AMI is not clear. METHODS: We retrieved myocardial tissues within 24 h from mice with induced AMI and sham, and analysed the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and differential alternative splicing genes (DASGs) by RNA-seq. The Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis and protein interaction network analysis were performed on DEGs-DASGs-overlap genes. PCR was used to verify the expression levels of representative genes and alternative splicing in myocardial tissues of AMI and sham mice. RESULTS: 1367 DEGs were identified, including 242 up-regulated and 1125 down-regulated genes, among which there were 42 DASGs. GO analysis showed that the cellular component was primarily enriched in plasma membrane, cell membrane integrity and extracellular region. The molecular function was enriched in protein binding and metal ion binding. The biological process was primarily enriched in cell adhesion, immune system process and cell differentiation. KEGG analysis showed the enrichment was mainly in JAK-STAT and PI3K-AKT signalling pathway. Postn, Fhl1, and Fn1 were low-expressed while Postn alternative splicing was high-expressed in myocardial tissue of AMI mice, which was consistent with sequencing results. CONCLUSIONS: The pathogenesis of AMI involves differentially expressed genes and differential alternative splicing. These differentially expressed genes and their alternative splicing, especially, Fhl1, Fn1 and Postn may become new biomarkers of AMI.

RESUMO

Traumatic mating is the male wounding his mate during mating using specialized anatomy. However, why males have evolved to injure their mates during mating remains poorly understood. We studied traumatic mating in Dicerapanorpa magna to determine its effects on male and female fitness. The sharp teeth on male gonostyli penetrate the female genitalia and cause copulatory wounds, and the number of scars on the female genitals is positively related to the number of times females mated. When the injurious teeth were encased with low-temperature wax, preventing their penetration of the female's genitalia during mating, male mating success and copulation duration were reduced significantly, indicating the importance of the teeth in allowing the male to secure copulation, remain in copula and effectively inseminate his mate. The remating experiments showed that traumatic mating had little effect on the female mating refractory period, but significantly reduced female remating duration with subsequent males, probably benefiting the first-mating male with longer copulation duration and transferring more sperm into the female's spermatheca. The copulatory wounds reduced female fecundity, but did not accelerate the timing of egg deposition. This is probably the first report that traumatic mating reduces female remating duration through successive remating experiments in animals. Overall, our results provide evidence that traumatic mating in the scorpionfly helps increase the male's anchoring control during mating and provides him advantage in sperm competition, but at the expense of lowering female fecundity.

RESUMO

Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is an important method for the treatment of early esophageal cancer. However, post-procedure stenosis is one of the most common long-term complications. This meta-analysis aimed to investigate whether stent placement is effective in the stenosis prevention, and which type of stent would be more effective. A systematic and electronic search of clinical trials and observational studies conducted before March 2020 on the efficacy of stent placement in preventing esophageal stricture after ESD was performed. Search terms included "ESD," "esophageal stenosis," "esophageal stricture," and "stents." We conducted a bias risk assessment of the eligible reports and a meta-analysis of the data using Revman 5.3 software. We included two randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and a prospective cohort study involving 163 patients with esophageal mucosal defects encompassing at least three-quarters of the esophagus circumference after ESD. The meta-analysis results showed that post-ESD stenosis rates (RR, 0.37; 95% CI, 0.22-0.64; P = 0.0003) and the number of endoscopic balloon dilations (EBDs) (MD, -1.74; 95% CI, -2.46 to -1.01; P < 0.00001) were reduced in the pooled analysis of three studies, indicating that stent placement was effective for stenosis prevention, especially a polyglycolic acid (PGA) sheet combined with stent placement can prevent stenosis (RR, 0.41; 95% CI, 0.23-0.74; P = 0.003) and reduce the number of EBDs (MD, -1.65; 95% CI, -2.40 to -0.90; P < 0.0001) significantly. Stent placement can reduce the rate of esophageal stenosis after ESD, especially when stents are covered with PGA sheets. However, more high-quality, low-bias RCTs with a sufficient sample size are needed to demonstrate its effectiveness.

RESUMO

In host-parasitoid interactions, antagonistic relationship drives parasitoids to vary in virulence in facing different hosts, which makes these systems excellent models for stress-induced evolutionary studies. Venom compositions varied between two strains of Tetrastichus brontispae, Tb-Bl and Tb-On. Tb-Bl targets Brontispa longissima pupae as hosts, and Tb-On is a sub-population of Tb-Bl, which has been experimentally adapted to a new host, Octodonta nipae. Aiming to examine variation in parasitoid virulence of the two strains toward two hosts, we used reciprocal injection experiments to compare effect of venom/ovarian fluids from the two strains on cytotoxicity, inhibition of immunity and fat body lysis of the two hosts. We found that Tb-Onvenom was more virulent towards plasmatocyte spreading, granulocyte function and phenoloxidase activity than Tb-Blvenom. Tb-Blovary was able to suppress encapsulation and phagocytosis in both hosts; however, Tb-Onovary inhibition targeted only B. longissima. Our data suggest that the venom undergoes rapid evolution when facing different hosts, and that the wasp has good evolutionary plasticity.

RESUMO

Bowel preparation is the basis of colonoscopy, and adequate bowel preparation is essential to the success of colonoscopy. Studies have been reported that telephone intervention can improve the quality of bowel preparation, while it remains unclear regarding effectiveness with the elderly. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of telephone intervention on the quality of bowel preparation for colonoscopy in elderly outpatients. In total, 162 outpatients older than 65 years were enrolled and randomly divided into a control group and a study group. Patients in the study group were re-educated through telephone by a specific nurse 2 days before colonoscopy, whereas participants in the control group received education only on the day of appointment. The Ottawa score was used to evaluate the quality of bowel preparation between the two groups. In this study, no significant differences were observed in age, gender, body mass index, educational level, smoking and/or alcohol drinking, waiting time to colonoscopy, reasons for colonoscopy, and colonoscopic findings between the control group and the study group. Participants in the study group had higher adequate bowel preparation and compliance than the control group (83.1% vs. 59.5%, p = .03; 96.4% vs. 74.7%, p < .001). Univariate analysis showed that only noncompliance with start time was significantly associated with satisfactory bowel preparation in elderly patients. In conclusion, telephone intervention 2 days before colonoscopy can improve the quality of bowel preparation in the elderly.

RESUMO

The beneficial function of gastrodin towards many inflammatory diseases has been identified. This study designed to see the influence of gastrodin in a cell model of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). MRC-5 cells were treated by LPS, before which gastrodin was administrated. The effects of gastrodin were evaluated by conducting CCK-8, FITC-PI double staining, Western blot, qRT-PCR and ELISA. Besides this, the downstream effector and signalling were studied to decode how gastrodin exerted its function. And dual-luciferase assay was used to detect the targeting link between miR-103 and lipoprotein receptor-related protein 1 (LRP1). LPS induced apoptosis and the release of MCP-1, IL-6 and TNF-α in MRC-5 cells. Pre-treating MRC-5 cells with gastrodin attenuated LPS-induced cell damage. Meanwhile, p38/JNK and NF-κB pathways induced by LPS were repressed by gastrodin. miR-103 expression was elevated by gastrodin. Further, the protective functions of gastrodin were attenuated by miR-103 silencing. And LRP1 was a target of miR-103 and negatively regulated by miR-103. The in vitro data illustrated the protective function of gastrodin in LPS-injured MRC-5 cells. Gastrodin exerted its function possibly by up-regulating miR-103 and modulating p38/JNK and NF-κB pathways.

RESUMO

The role of antithymocyte globulin (ATG) in patients with hematologic diseases undergoing umbilical cord blood transplantation (UCBT) remains controversial. This systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to comprehensively evaluate this issue. PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library were systematically searched. Clinical studies reporting the impact of ATG- vs non-ATG-containing conditioning regimens on transplantation outcomes were identified. Twenty-five studies were included. ATG significantly prevented grade II-IV and grade III-IV acute graft-vs-host disease (GVHD) (11 studies, 5020 patients, HR: 0.49, 95% CI: 0.42-0.56, P < .001; 5 studies, 5490 patients, HR: 0.60, 95% CI: 0.46-0.80, P < .001) but not chronic GVHD (8 studies, 5952 patients, HR: 0.78, 95% CI: 0.51-1.20, P = .266). However, use of ATG was associated with increased transplantation-related mortality and inferior overall survival (9 studies, 4244 patients, HR: 1.79, 95% CI: 1.38-2.33, P < .001; 8 studies, 5438 patients, HR: 1.96, 95% CI: 1.56-2.46, P < .001). Our study did not recommend routine use of ATG in UCBT. Individualizing the ATG timing and dose based on patient characteristics to retain the prophylactic effects of ATG on GVHD without compromising the survival of UCBT recipients may be reasonable.

RESUMO

Myocardial cell death during acute myocardial infarction occurs because of acute ischemia, persistent ischemia, reperfusion-associated injury, and the inflammatory infiltrate as a response to cell necrosis. In the present study, quantitative real-time PCR showed that lncRNA Gm4419 was highly upregulated in ischemia/reperfusion myocardial tissues and hypoxia/reoxygenation H9C2 cells, whereas miR-682 was downregulated. Knocking down Gm4419 with sh-Gm4419 resulted in the rescue of myocardial infarction and apoptosis induced by ischemia/reperfusion or hypoxia/reoxygenation. Our study further demonstrated that Gm4419 may bind with miR-682 directly. Moreover, in vitro experiments further demonstrated that miR-682 could bind to tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 3 (TRAF3) directly. Most importantly, TRAF3 overexpression could counteract the effect of sh-Gm4419. Taken together, our study indicated that Gm4419 may target miR-682 via sponging to increase TRAF3 expression, thereby contributing to myocardial I/R injury. Therefore, the Gm4419/miR-682/TRAF3 axis may be an important regulatory mechanism in myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury.

RESUMO

Two types of infrared fluoride phosphors, Cr3+-doped K3AlF6 and K3GaF6, were developed in this research. The K3Al1-xF6:xCr3+ and K3Ga1-yF6:yCr3+ fluoride phosphors were proven to be pure phase via X-ray diffraction refinement, which demonstrated that the procedure can be applied to large-scale production. Electron paramagnetic resonance measurements indicated that Cr3+ ions in cubic with respect to noncubic are coupled better with K3GaF6 than with K3AlF6. The main differences between these two phosphors, the site symmetry and pressure behavior of the spectra, were obtained in temperature- and pressure-dependent spectra. According to the calculation results, Cr3+ in fluorine coordination at ambient pressure indicates an intermediate crystal field. For the phosphor-converted light-emitting diodes (LEDs) fabricated from these two phosphors, the spectral range is from 650 to 1000 nm, which resulted in a radiant flux of 7-8 mW with an input power of 1.05 W. The research reveals detailed luminous properties, which will lead to a new way of studying Cr3+-doped fluoride phosphors and their application in LEDs.

RESUMO

Near-infrared (NIR) phosphors are fascinating materials that have numerous applications in diverse fields. In this study, a series of La3Ga5GeO14:Cr3+ phosphors, which was incorporated with Sn4+, Ba2+, and Sc3+, was successfully synthesized using solid-state reaction to explore every cationic site comprehensively. The crystal structures were well resolved by combining synchrotron X-ray diffraction and neutron powder diffraction through joint Rietveld refinements. The trapping of free electrons induced by charge unbalances and lattice vacancies changes the magnetic properties, which was well explained by a Dyson curve in electron paramagnetic resonance. Temperature and pressure-dependent photoluminescence spectra reveal various luminescent properties between strong and weak fields in different dopant centers. The phosphor-converted NIR light-emitting diode (pc-NIR LED) package demonstrates a superior broadband emission that covers the near-infrared (NIR) region of 650-1050 nm. This study can provide researchers with new insight into the control mechanism of multiple-cation-site phosphors and reveal a potential phosphor candidate for practical NIR LED application.
