Malignant rhabdoid tumor of the orbit in an infant.

We present the case of an infant with rapidly progressing orbital tumor that had initial radiological and clinical features of both rhabdomyosarcoma and capillary hemangioma. The patient was eventually diagnosed with malignant rhabdoid tumor of the orbit. We discuss the salient histological and radiological features of our case and review the literature on orbital malignant rhabdoid tumors.

Emoji use in social media posts: relationships with personality traits and word usage.

Prior research has demonstrated relationships between personality traits of social media users and the language used in their posts. Few studies have examined whether there are relationships between personality traits of users and how they use emojis in their social media posts. Emojis are digital pictographs used to express ideas and emotions. There are thousands of emojis, which depict faces with expressions, objects, animals, and activities. We conducted a study with two samples (n = 76 and n = 245) in which we examined how emoji use on X (formerly Twitter) related to users' personality traits and language use in posts. Personality traits were assessed from participants in an online survey. With participants' consent, we analyzed word usage in posts. Word frequencies were calculated using the Linguistic Inquiry Word Count (LIWC). In both samples, the results showed that those who used the most emojis had the lowest levels of openness to experience. Emoji use was unrelated to the other personality traits. In sample 1, emoji use was also related to use of words related to family, positive emotion, and sadness and less frequent use of articles and words related to insight. In sample 2, more frequent use of emojis in posts was related to more frequent use of you pronouns, I pronouns, and more frequent use of negative function words and words related to time. The results support the view that social media users' characteristics may be gleaned from the content of their social media posts.

Society for Endocrinology guidelines for the diagnosis and management of post-bariatric hypoglycaemia.

Post bariatric hypoglycaemia (PBH) is typically a post-prandial hypoglycaemia occurring about 2-4 hours after eating in people who have undergone bariatric surgery. PBH develops relatively late after surgery and often after discharge from post-surgical follow-up by bariatric teams, leading to variability in diagnosis and management in non-specialist centres. AIM: to improve and standardise clinical practice in the diagnosis and management of PBH. OBJECTIVES: (1) to undertake an up-to-date review of the current literature; (2) to formulate practical and evidence-based guidance with regards on the diagnosis and treatment of PBH; (3) to recommend future avenues for research in this condition. METHOD: A scoping review was undertaken after an extensive literature search. A consensus on the guidance and confidence in the recommendations was reached by the steering group authors prior to review by key stakeholders. OUTCOME: We make pragmatic recommendations for the practical diagnosis and management of PBH including criteria for diagnosis and recognition, as well as recommendations for research areas that should be explored.

On the penaeid shrimps of the genus Parapenaeopsis Alcock, 1901 (Crustacea, Decapoda) from Taiwan.

Five species in the penaeid shrimp genus Parapenaeopsis Alcock, 1901 are reported from Taiwan. Parapenaeopsis amicus V.C. Nguyn, 1971 and P. venusta De Man, 1907 are formally recorded in Taiwan for the first time. Taxonomic problems related to the species reported from Taiwan are discussed, and a key to the species of Parapenaeopsis in Taiwan is provided.
