RESUMO

High open-circuit voltage (Voc) organic solar cells (OSCs) have received increasing attention because of their promising application in tandem devices and indoor photovoltaics. However, the lack of a precise correlation between molecular structure and stacking behaviors of wide band gap electron acceptors has greatly limited its development. Here, we adopted an asymmetric halogenation strategy (AHS) and synthesized two completely non-fused ring electron acceptors (NFREAs), HF-BTA33 and HCl-BTA33. The results show that AHS significantly enhances the molecular dipoles and suppresses electron-phonon coupling, resulting in enhanced intramolecular/intermolecular interactions and decreased nonradiative decay. As a result, PTQ10 : HF-BTA33 realizes a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 11.42 % with a Voc of 1.232 V, higher than that of symmetric analogue F-BTA33 (PCE=10.02 %, Voc=1.197 V). Notably, PTQ10 : HCl-BTA33 achieves the highest PCE of 12.54 % with a Voc of 1.201 V due to the long-range ordered π-π packing and enhanced surface electrostatic interactions thereby facilitating exciton dissociation and charge transport. This work not only proves that asymmetric halogenation of completely NFREAs is a simple and effective strategy for achieving both high PCE and Voc, but also provides deeper insights for the precise molecular design of low cost completely NFREAs.

RESUMO

Organic solar cells (OSCs) have achieved great progress, driven by the rapid development of wide bandgap electron donors and narrow bandgap non-fullerene acceptors (NFAs). Among a large number of electron-accepting (A) building blocks, thiazole (Tz) and its derived fused heterocycles have been widely used to construct photovoltaic materials, especially conjugated polymers. Benefiting from the electron deficiency, rigidity, high planarity, and enhanced intra/intermolecular interactions of Tz-containing heterocycles, some related photovoltaic materials exhibit proper energy levels, optimized molecular aggregation, and active layer morphology, leading to excellent photovoltaic performance. This review focuses on the progress of Tz-based photovoltaic materials in the field of OSCs. First, the Tz-based donor and acceptor photovoltaic materials are reviewed. Then, the materials based on promising Tz-containing heterocycles, mainly including thiazolo[5,4-d]thiazole (TzTz), benzo[1,2-d:4,5-d']bis(thiazole) (BBTz), and benzo[d]thiazole (BTz) are summarized and discussed. In addition, the new emerging Tz-fused structures and their application in OSCs are introduced. Finally, perspectives and outlooks for the further development of Tz-containing heterocycle-based photovoltaic materials are proposed.

RESUMO

Few-shot learning, especially few-shot image classification, has received increasing attention and witnessed significant advances in recent years. Some recent studies implicitly show that many generic techniques or "tricks", such as data augmentation, pre-training, knowledge distillation, and self-supervision, may greatly boost the performance of a few-shot learning method. Moreover, different works may employ different software platforms, backbone architectures and input image sizes, making fair comparisons difficult and practitioners struggle with reproducibility. To address these situations, we propose a comprehensive library for few-shot learning (LibFewShot) by re-implementing eighteen state-of-the-art few-shot learning methods in a unified framework with the same single codebase in PyTorch. Furthermore, based on LibFewShot, we provide comprehensive evaluations on multiple benchmarks with various backbone architectures to evaluate common pitfalls and effects of different training tricks. In addition, with respect to the recent doubts on the necessity of meta- or episodic-training mechanism, our evaluation results confirm that such a mechanism is still necessary especially when combined with pre-training. We hope our work can not only lower the barriers for beginners to enter the area of few-shot learning but also elucidate the effects of nontrivial tricks to facilitate intrinsic research on few-shot learning.

RESUMO

The genus Alcanivorax is common in various marine environments, including in hydrothermal fields. They were previously recognized as obligate hydrocarbonoclastic bacteria, but their potential for autotrophic carbon fixation and Fe(II)-oxidation remains largely elusive. In this study, an in situ enrichment experiment was performed using a hydrothermal massive sulfide slab deployed 300 m away from the Wocan hydrothermal vent. Furthermore, the biofilms on the surface of the slab were used as an inoculum, with hydrothermal massive sulfide powder from the same vent as an energy source, to enrich the potential iron oxidizer in the laboratory. Three dominant bacterial families, Alcanivoraceae, Pseudomonadaceae, and Rhizobiaceae, were enriched in the medium with hydrothermal massive sulfides. Subsequently, strain Alcanivorax sp. MM125-6 was isolated from the enrichment culture. It belongs to the genus Alcanivorax and is closely related to Alcanivorax profundimaris ST75FaO-1 T (98.9% sequence similarity) indicated by a phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences. Autotrophic growth experiments on strain MM125-6 revealed that the cell concentrations were increased from an initial 7.5 × 105 cells/ml to 3.13 × 108 cells/ml after 10 days, and that the δ13C VPDB in the cell biomass was also increased from 234.25‰ on day 2 to gradually 345.66 ‰ on day 10. The gradient tube incubation showed that bands of iron oxides and cells formed approximately 1 and 1.5 cm, respectively, below the air-agarose medium interface. In addition, the SEM-EDS data demonstrated that it can also secrete acidic exopolysaccharides and adhere to the surface of sulfide minerals to oxidize Fe(II) with NaHCO3 as the sole carbon source, which accelerates hydrothermal massive sulfide dissolution. These results support the conclusion that strain MM125-6 is capable of autotrophic carbon fixation and Fe(II) oxidization chemoautotrophically. This study expands our understanding of the metabolic versatility of the Alcanivorax genus as well as their important role(s) in coupling hydrothermal massive sulfide weathering and iron and carbon cycles in hydrothermal fields.
