RESUMO

Viruses pose a great threat to animal and plant health worldwide, with many being dependent on insect vectors for transmission between hosts. While the virus-host arms race has been well established, how viruses and insect vectors adapt to each other remains poorly understood. Begomoviruses comprise the largest genus of plant-infecting DNA viruses and are exclusively transmitted by the whitefly Bemisia tabaci. Here, we show that the vector Janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK/STAT) pathway plays an important role in mediating the adaptation between the begomovirus tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) and whiteflies. We found that the JAK/STAT pathway in B. tabaci functions as an antiviral mechanism against TYLCV infection in whiteflies as evidenced by the increase in viral DNA and coat protein (CP) levels after inhibiting JAK/STAT signaling. Two STAT-activated effector genes, BtCD109-2 and BtCD109-3, mediate this anti-TYLCV activity. To counteract this vector immunity, TYLCV has evolved strategies that impair the whitefly JAK/STAT pathway. Infection of TYLCV is associated with a reduction of JAK/STAT pathway activity in whiteflies. Moreover, TYLCV CP binds to STAT and blocks its nuclear translocation, thus, abrogating the STAT-dependent transactivation of target genes. We further show that inhibition of the whitefly JAK/STAT pathway facilitates TYLCV transmission but reduces whitefly survival and fecundity, indicating that this JAK/STAT-dependent TYLCV-whitefly interaction plays an important role in keeping a balance between whitefly fitness and TYLCV transmission. This study reveals a mechanism of plant virus-insect vector coadaptation in relation to vector survival and virus transmission.

RESUMO

The use of precise epitope peptides as antigens is essential for accurate serological diagnosis of viral-infected individuals, but now it remains an unsolvable problem for mapping precise B cell epitopes (BCEs) recognized by human serum. To address this challenge, we propose a novel epitope delimitation (ED) method to uncover BCEs in the delineated human IgG-reactive (HR) antigenic peptides (APs). Specifically, the method based on the rationale of similarities in humoral immune responses between mammalian species consists of a pair of elements: experimentally delineated HR-AP and rabbit-recognized (RR) BCE motif and corresponding pair of sequence alignment analysis. As a result of using the ED approach, after decoding four RR-epitomes of human papillomavirus types 16/18-E6 and E7 proteins utilizing rabbit serum against each recombinant protein and sequence alignment analysis of HR-APs and RR-BCEs, 19 fine BCEs in 17 of 22 known HR-APs were defined based on each corresponding RR-BCE motifs, including the type-specificity of each delimited BCE in homologous proteins. The test with 22 known 16/20mer HR-APs demonstrated that the ED method is effective and efficient, indicating that it can be used as an alternative method to the conventional identification of fine BCEs using overlapping 8mer peptides.

RESUMO

ABSTRACT: Aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2) protects the ischemic heart by activating adenosine 5'-monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) signaling. However, the molecular mechanisms linking ALDH2 and AMPK signaling are not fully understood. This study aimed to explore the potential mechanisms linking ALDH2 and AMPK in myocardial ischemic injury. An ischemic model was established by ligating the left anterior descending coronary artery in rats. The overexpression or knockdown of ALDH2 in H9c2 cells treated with oxygen-glucose deprivation was obtained through lentivirus infection. Transferase-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling was used to evaluate apoptosis in an ischemic rat model and oxygen-glucose deprivation cells. ALDH2 activity, mitochondrial oxidative stress markers, adenosine triphosphate, respiratory control ratio, and cell viability in H9c2 cells were evaluated using a biological kit and 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5 diphenyl tetrazolium bromide. Protein expression of ALDH2 , 4-hydroxynonenal, thioredoxin-1 (Trx-1), and AMPK-proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator-1 alpha (PGC-1α) signaling pathway was detected through Western blotting. ALDH2 activation reduced ischemic-induced myocardial infarct size and apoptosis. ALDH2 protected mitochondrial function by enhancing mitochondrial respiratory control ratio and adenosine triphosphate production, alleviated mitochondrial oxidative stress, and suppressed myocardial apoptosis. Moreover, ALDH2 attenuated ischemia-induced oxidative stress and maintained Trx-1 levels by reducing 4-hydroxynonenal, thereby promoting AMPK-PGC-1α signaling activation. Inhibiting Trx-1 or AMPK abolished the cardioprotective effect of ALDH2 on ischemia. ALDH2 alleviates myocardial injury through increased mitochondrial biogenesis and reduced oxidative stress, and these effects were achieved through Trx1-mediating AMPK-PGC1-α signaling activation.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Metabolism dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), is the most common chronic liver disease. Few MAFLD predictions are simple and accurate. We examined the predictive performance of the albumin-to-glutamyl transpeptidase ratio (AGTR), plasma atherogenicity index (AIP), and serum uric acid to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (UHR) for MAFLD to design practical, inexpensive, and reliable models. METHODS: The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2007-2016 cycle dataset, which contained 12,654 participants, was filtered and randomly separated into internal validation and training sets. This study examined the relationships of the AGTR and AIP with MAFLD using binary multifactor logistic regression. We then created a MAFLD predictive model using the training dataset and validated the predictive model performance with the 2017-2018 NHANES and internal datasets. RESULTS: In the total population, the predictive ability (AUC) of the AIP, AGTR, UHR, and the combination of all three for MAFLD showed in the following order: 0.749, 0.773, 0.728 and 0.824. Further subgroup analysis showed that the AGTR (AUC1 = 0.796; AUC2 = 0.690) and the combination of the three measures (AUC1 = 0.863; AUC2 = 0.766) better predicted MAFLD in nondiabetic patients. Joint prediction outperformed the individual measures in predicting MAFLD in the subgroups. Additionally, the model better predicted female MAFLD. Adding waist circumference and or BMI to this model improves predictive performance. CONCLUSION: Our study showed that the AGTR, AIP, and UHR had strong MAFLD predictive value, and their combination can increase MAFLD predictive performance. They also performed better in females.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This paper aims to provide an evidence-based summary of the most effective strategies for comprehensive healthcare of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) in cancer patients. METHOD: Following the "6S" model, relevant evidence on CIPN management was collected from reputable evidence-based resource websites and databases nationally and internationally. The included articles were evaluated for methodological quality, and evidence was extracted using the Australian JBI Evidence-based Health Care Center's literature evaluation standard (2016 edition). RESULTS: A total of 60 articles were included in this study, comprising 2 guidelines, 5 expert consensus statements, and 53 systematic reviews. The findings of these articles were summarized across 7 dimensions, including risk factor screening, assessment, diagnosis, prevention, treatment, management, and health education, resulting in the identification of 42 relevant pieces of evidence. CONCLUSIONS: This study provides a comprehensive synthesis of evidence-based recommendations for managing CIPN in cancer patients, offering guidance for healthcare professionals engaged in clinical practice. However, when implementing these recommendations, it is crucial to consider the individual patient's clinical circumstances, preferences, and expert judgment, ensuring feasibility and applicability in real-world clinical settings.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Patient follow-up is an essential component of hospital management. In the current information era, the patient follow-up scheme is expected to be replaced by Internet technology. This study constructed a cloud follow-up platform for gynecological chemotherapy patients and assessed its cost-effectiveness and patients' feedback. METHODS: A total of 2,538 patients were followed up using a cloud follow-up system between January and October 2021. Prior to this, 690 patients were followed manually via telephone calls. Patients' characteristics, follow-up rate, satisfaction, and session duration were compared between the cloud follow-up and manual follow-up groups. In addition, the read rate of health education materials in the cloud follow-up group was analyzed. RESULTS: General information, including age, education attainment, cancer stage, and disease category, and follow-up rate (cloud: 6,957/7,614, 91.4%; manual: 1,869/2,070, 90.3%; P = 0.13) did not significantly differ between the two groups. The follow-up satisfaction of the cloud follow-up patients was significantly better than that of the manual follow-up group (cloud: 7,192/7,614, 94.5%; manual: 1,532/2,070, 74.0%; P<0.001). The time spent on the follow-up was approximately 1.2 h for 100 patients in the cloud follow-up group and 10.5 h in the manual follow-up group. Multivariate analysis indicated that the cloud follow-up group had significantly greater follow-up satisfaction (odds ratio: 2.239, 95% CI: 1.237 ~ 5.219). Additionally, the average follow-up duration of the cloud follow-up group decreased by 9.287 h (coefficient: -9.287, 95% CI: -1.439~-0.165). The read rate of health education materials was 72.9% in the cloud follow-up group. CONCLUSIONS: The follow-up effect of the cloud follow-up group was not inferior to that of the manual follow-up group. The cloud follow-up was more effective for prevention and control requirements in the post-epidemic era. Cloud follow-up can save medical resources, improve cost-effectiveness, provide sufficient health education resources for patients, and improve their satisfaction.

RESUMO

Female mosquitoes transmit numerous devastating human diseases because they require vertebrate blood meal for egg development. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play critical roles across multiple reproductive processes in female Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. However, how miRNAs are controlled to coordinate their activity with the demands of mosquito reproduction remains largely unknown. We report that the ecdysone receptor (EcR)-mediated 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E) signaling regulates miRNA expression in female mosquitoes. EcR RNA-interference silencing linked to small RNA-sequencing analysis reveals that EcR not only activates but also represses miRNA expression in the female mosquito fat body, a functional analog of the vertebrate liver. EcR directly represses the expression of clustered miR-275 and miR-305 before blood feeding when the 20E titer is low, whereas it activates their expression in response to the increased 20E titer after a blood meal. Furthermore, we find that SMRTER, an insect analog of the vertebrate nuclear receptor corepressors SMRT and N-CoR, interacts with EcR in a 20E-sensitive manner and is required for EcR-mediated repression of miRNA expression in Ae. aegypti mosquitoes. In addition, we demonstrate that miR-275 and miR-305 directly target glutamate semialdehyde dehydrogenase and AAEL009899, respectively, to facilitate egg development. This study reveals a mechanism for how miRNAs are controlled by the 20E signaling pathway to coordinate their activity with the demands of mosquito reproduction.

RESUMO

Hollow bimetallic nanoparticles (NPs) formed from metal oxide NP templates are widely used catalysts for hydrogen evolution and CO2 reduction reactions. Despite their importance in catalysis, the details of how these NPs form on the NP templates remain unclear. Here, using in situ liquid-phase transmission electron microscopy (TEM) imaging, we describe the conversion of Cu2O template NPs to hollow PdCu NPs. Our observations show that a polycrystalline PdCu shell forms on the surface of the template via a galvanic replacement reaction while the template undergoes anisotropic etching. This study provides important insights into the synthesis of hollow metallic nanostructures from metal oxide templates.

RESUMO

Objective To investigate the status and influencing factors of pressuring feeding style among caregivers in remote rural areas of Sichuan province. Methods Multistage sampling was conducted to select infants of 6-11 months old who had received complementary food and their caregivers in remote rural areas of Sichuan province.A questionnaire was used to collect sociodemographic characteristics of infants and their caregivers, pressuring feeding behaviors, feeding environment, and caregivers' negative emotions.Quantile regression was employed to analyze the factors influencing pressuring feeding among caregivers of infants. Results A total of 1358 pairs of infants and their caregivers were included, with the pressuring feeding behavior score of 11 (8,14).Parity was the protective factor for caregivers' pressuring feeding (ß25=-1.17,P<0.001;ß50=-1.40,P=0.002;ß75=-2.18,P<0.001).Whether infants played with toys while eating (ß25=1.00,P<0.001;ß50=1.20,P=0.003;ß75=1.42,P<0.001) and whether infants watched TV/mobile phones (ß25=0.50,P=0.048;ß50=1.07,P=0.004) were the risk factors. At the 75th percentile, caregivers' negative emotions were the risk factor for pressuring feeding (ß75=0.94,P=0.015).Caregivers' education background (ß25=0.83,P=0.034;ß50=0.87,P=0.021) and family income (ß75=1.09,P=0.012) were also significantly associated with pressuring feeding scores at different quartile points. Conclusion Pressuring feeding behaviors of caregivers in remote rural areas of Sichuan province need to be improved.Based on the characteristics of infants and their families, guidance should be carried out to improve the feeding environment and the mental health of caregivers, thereby promoting reasonable feeding behaviors among caregivers of infants in rural areas.

RESUMO

Objective To investigate the current status of physical activity and depressive symptoms among middle-aged and older adults in Chengdu,Sichuan and explore the relationship between physical activity and depressive symptoms. Methods Multi-stage proportional stratified random sampling was employed to select middle-aged and older adults aged ≥45 years as the participants, and face-to-face interviews were carried out to collect data.Logistic regression was adopted to explore the relationship between physical activity and depressive symptoms in middle-aged and older adults. The trend test was performed for the relationship between different levels of physical activity and depressive symptoms. The subgroup analysis and the test for multiplicative interactions were conducted for the relationship between physical activity and depressive symptoms. Results A total of 4376 middle-aged and older adults were included.Among them,14.58% (638/4376),25.98% (1137/4376),and 27.83% (1218/4376) had depressive symptoms, failed to reach the guideline-recommended standards of physical activity, and were at low levels of physical activity, respectively. There was a negative association between reaching guideline-recommended physical activity standard and depressive symptoms in middle-aged and older adults (OR=0.713,95%CI=0.589-0.861,P<0.001).In addition, moderate levels (OR=0.714,95%CI=0.586-0.871,P=0.001) and high levels of physical activity (OR=0.705,95%CI=0.548-0.906,P=0.006) had negative associations with the presence of depressive symptoms. The trend test revealed that the negative association between physical activity and depressive symptoms in middle-aged and older adults enhanced as the level of physical activity increased (Pfor trend=0.001).The subgroup analysis and the test for multiplicative interactions revealed that neither reaching guideline-recommended physical activity standards or not nor the physical activity level had an interaction with each of the subgroups (all Pfor interaction>0.05). Conclusion The current status of depressive symptoms among middle-aged and older adults in Chengdu,Sichuan needs to be ameliorated.A negative association existed between reaching the guideline-recommended physical activity standard and presence of depressive symptoms, and the negative association enhanced as the physical activity level elevated.

RESUMO

Deeply electrolytic reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) to high-value ethylene (C2H4) is very attractive. However, the sluggish kinetics of C-C coupling seriously results in the low selectivity of CO2 electroreduction to C2H4. Herein, we report a copper-based polyhedron (Cu2) that features uniformly distributed and atomically precise bi-Cu units, which can stabilize *OCCO dipole to facilitate the C-C coupling for high selective C2H4 production. The C2H4 faradaic efficiency (FE) reaches 51% with a current density of 469.4 mA cm-2, much superior to the Cu single site catalyst (Cu SAC) (~0%). Moreover, the Cu2 catalyst has a higher turnover frequency (TOF, ~520 h-1) compared to Cu nanoparticles (~9.42 h-1) and Cu SAC (~0.87 h-1). In situ characterizations and theoretical calculations revealed that the unique Cu2 structural configuration could optimize the dipole moments and stabilize the *OCCO adsorbate to promote the generation of C2H4.

RESUMO

Neutral aqueous organic redox flow batteries (AORFBs) hold the potential to facilitate the transition of renewable energy sources from auxiliary to primary energy, the commercial production of anolyte materials still suffers from insufficient performance of high-concentration and the high cost of the preparation problem. To overcome these challenges, this study provides a hydrothermal synthesis methodology and introduces the charged functional groups into hydrophobic naphthalene diimide cores, and prepares a series of high-performance naphthalene diimide anolytes. Under the synergistic effect of π-π stacking and H-bonding networks, the naphthalene diimide exhibits excellent structural stability and the highest water solubility (1.85 M for dex-NDI) reported to date. By employing the hydrothermal method, low-cost naphthalene diimides are successfully synthesized on a hundred-gram scale of $0.16 g-1 ($2.43 Ah-1), which is also the lowest price reported to date. The constructed full battery achieves a high electron concentration of 2.4 M, a high capacity of 54.4 Ah L-1, and a power density of 318 mW cm-2 with no significant capacity decay observed during long-duration cycling. These findings provide crucial support for the commercialization of AORFBs and pave the way for revolutionary developments in neutral AORFBs.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: We aimed to develop and validate a plasma extracellular vesicle circular RNA (circRNA)-based signature that can predict overall survival (OS) in first-line abiraterone therapy for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) patients. METHODS: In total, 582 mCRPC patients undergoing first-line abiraterone therapy from four institutions were sorted by three phases. In the discovery phase, 30 plasma samples from 30 case-matched patients with or without early progression were obtained to generate circRNA expression profiles using RNA sequencing. In the training phase, differentially expressed circRNAs were examined using digital droplet PCR in a training cohort (n = 203). The circRNA signature was constructed using a least absolute shrinkage and selection operator Cox regression to predict OS. In the validation phase, the prognostic ability of this signature was prospectively validated in two external cohorts (Cohort I, n = 183; Cohort II, n = 166). RESULTS: We developed a five-circRNA signature, based on circCEP112, circFAM13A, circBRWD1, circVPS13C and circMACROD2, which successfully stratified patients into high-risk and low-risk groups. The prognostic ability of this signature was prospectively validated in two external cohorts (P < 0.0001, P < 0.0001). Patients with high-risk scores had shorter OS than patients with low-risk scores. CONCLUSION: This five-circRNA signature is a reliable predictor of OS for mCRPC patients undergoing abiraterone.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Epilepsy is the second most prevalent neurological disease. Although there are many antiseizure drugs, approximately 30% of cases are refractory to treatment. Temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) is the most common epilepsy subtype, and previous studies have reported that hippocampal inflammation is an important mechanism associated with the occurrence and development of TLE. However, the inflammatory biomarkers associated with TLE are not well defined. METHODS: In our study, we merged human hippocampus datasets (GSE48350 and GSE63808) through batch correction and generally verified the diagnostic roles of inflammation-related genes (IRGs) and subtype classification according to IRGs in epilepsy through differential expression, random forest, support vector machine, nomogram, subtype classification, enrichment, protein‒protein interaction, immune cell infiltration, and immune function analyses. Finally, we detected the location and expression of inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP1) in epileptic patients and kainic acid-induced epileptic mice. RESULTS: According to the bioinformatics analysis, we identified TIMP1 as the most significant IRG associated with TLE, and we found that TIMP1 was mainly located in cortical neurons and scantly expressed in cortical gliocytes by immunofluorescence staining. We detected decreased expression of TIMP1 by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and western blotting. CONCLUSION: TIMP1, the most significant IRG associated with TLE, might be a novel and promising biomarker to study the mechanism of epilepsy and guide the discovery of new drugs for its treatment.

RESUMO

Nitrate allocation in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) represents an important mechanism for mediating plant environmental adaptation. However, whether this mechanism occurs or has any physiological/agronomic importance in the ammoniphilic plant rice (Oriza sativa L.) remains unknown. Here, we address this question through functional characterization of the Nitrate transporter 1/Peptide transporter Family (NPF) transporter gene OsNPF7.9. Ectopic expression of OsNPF7.9 in Xenopus oocytes revealed that the gene encodes a low-affinity nitrate transporter. Histochemical and in-situ hybridization assays showed that OsNPF7.9 expresses preferentially in xylem parenchyma cells of vasculature tissues. Transient expression assays indicated that OsNPF7.9 localizes to the plasma membrane. Nitrate allocation from roots to shoots was essentially decreased in osnpf7.9 mutants. Biomass, grain yield, and nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) decreased in the mutant dependent on nitrate availability. Further analysis demonstrated that nitrate allocation mediated by OsNPF7.9 is essential for balancing rice growth and stress tolerance. Moreover, our research identified an indica-japonica divergent single-nucleotide polymorphism occurring in the coding region of OsNPF7.9, which correlates with enhanced nitrate allocation to shoots of indica rice, revealing that divergent nitrate allocation might represent an important component contributing to the divergent NUE between indica and japonica subspecies and was likely selected as a favorable trait during rice breeding.

RESUMO

An actinomycete, designated strain HSS6-12T, was isolated from hot spring sediment collected from Ranong province, Thailand. The strain showed taxonomic characteristics consistent with those of members of the genus Micromonospora. HSS6-12T produced a single spore directly on the substrate mycelium, and no aerial mycelium was detected. The isomer of diamino acid presented in cell wall peptidoglycan was meso-diaminopimelic acid. Arabinose, xylose, glucose, and ribose were detected in whole-cell hydrolysates. MK-10(H4), MK-9(H4), and MK-10(H6) were major menaquinones. Major cellular fatty acids were iso-C16:0, iso-C15:0, and iso-C17:0. Phospholipid profile was composed of diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylinositol, and phosphatidylinositolmannosides. 16S rRNA gene analysis revealed that HSS6-12T shared the highest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity with Micromonospora inositola DSM 43819T (99.3%). In contrast, the genome analysis showed that HSS6-12T formed a tight taxonomic position in a phylogenomic tree with Micromonospora endolithica DSM 44398T. Moreover, the average nucleotide identity-blast, the digital DNA-DNA hybridization, and the average amino acid identity values between HSS6-12T and M. inositola DSM 43819T and M. endolithica DSM 44398T were 83.1-84.0%, 27.5-28.7%, and 80.4-82.2%, respectively, indicating that HSS6-12T was different species with both closely related Micromonospora-type strains. In addition, HSS6-12T could be discriminated from its closely related type strains by many physiological and biochemical characteristics. Thus, HSS6-12T could be considered a novel species of the genus Micromonospora, and the name Micromonospora thermarum is proposed for the strain. The type strain is HSS6-12T (= BCC 41915T = JCM 17127T).

RESUMO

An actinomycete strain, AA8T, which produced a long straight chain of spores (verticillati type), was isolated from the rhizosphere soil of Mangifera indica in Bangkok, Thailand. A polyphasic taxonomic study was carried out to establish the taxonomic position of the strain. Strain AA8T formed a tight taxonomic position in the 16S rRNA gene tree with Streptomyces roseifaciens MBT76T. In contrast, the genome-based taxonomic analysis showed that strain AA8T shared low average nucleotide identity-BLAST (94.1%), the digital DNA-DNA hybridization (58.2%), and the average amino acid identity (93.6%) values with S. roseifaciens MBT76T. Moreover, a combination of physiological and biochemical properties indicated that strain AA8T was distinguished from all Streptomyces species with effectively published names. Strain AA8T, therefore, represents a novel species of Streptomyces, and the name Streptomyces telluris is proposed for the strain. The type strain is AA8T (= TBRC 8483T = NBRC 113461T). The chemical investigation led to the isolation of nine known compounds (compounds 1-9). Among these compounds, compound 7 (3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde) possesses strong antioxidant activity equal to ascorbic acid, a powerful antioxidative agent.

RESUMO

An actinobacterium strain, SW21T, was isolated from seawater collected in the upper Gulf of Thailand. Cells were Gram-stain-positive, aerobic and rod-shaped. Growth was observed from 15 to 37 °C and at pH 6-8. Maximum NaCl for growth was 14 % (w/v). meso-Diaminopimelic acid, arabinose, galactose, glucose, rhamnose and ribose were detected in the whole-cell hydrolysate. Diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylinositol and phosphatidylinositol mannoside were detected as the phospholipids in the cells. The major menaquinones were MK-9(H2) and MK-7(H2). The major cellular fatty acids were C16 : 0, C18 : 1 ω9c, C18 : 0 and C18 : 010-methyl (TBSA). The 16S rRNA gene sequence data supported the assignment of strain SW21T to the genus Gordonia and showed that Gordonia mangrovi KCTC 49383T (98.7 %) was the closest relative. Moreover, the average nucleotide identity-blast (85.5 %) and digital DNA-DNA hybridization (30.7 %) values between strain SW21T and its closest neighbour were below the threshold values for delineation of a novel species. The combination of genotypic and phenotypic data indicated that strain SW21T is representative of novel species of the genus Gordonia. The name Gordonia aquimaris sp. nov. is proposed for strain SW21T. The type strain is SW21T (=TBRC 15691T=NBRC 115558T).

RESUMO

An actinobacterium strain, PPF5-17T, was isolated from hot spring soil collected from Chiang Rai province, Thailand. The strain exhibited morphological and chemotaxonomic properties similar to those of members of the genus Micromonospora. Colonies of PPF5-17T were strong pinkish red and turned black after sporulation in ISP 2 agar medium. Cells formed single spores directly on the substrate mycelium. Growth was observed from 15 to 45 °C and at pH 5-8. Maximum NaCl concentration for growth was 3 % (w/v). PPF5-17T was found to have meso-diaminopimelic acid, xylose, mannose and glucose in the whole-cell hydrolysate. Diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylinositol and phosphatidylinositolmannosides were observed as the membrane phospholipids. MK-10(H6), MK-9(H6), MK-10(H4) and MK-9(H4) were the major menaquinones. The predominant cellular fatty acids were iso-C15 : 0, iso-C17 : 0, anteiso-C17 : 0 and iso-C16 : 0. PPF5-17T shared the highest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity with Micromonospora fluminis LMG 30467T (99.3 %). A genome-based taxonomic study revealed that PPF5-17T was closely related to Micromonospora aurantinigra DSM 44815T in the phylogenomic tree with an average nucleotide identity by blast (ANIb) of 87.7 % and a digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) value of, 36.1 % which were below the threshold values for delineation of a novel species. Moreover, PPF5-17T could be distinguished from its closest neighbours, M. fluminis LMG 30467T and M. aurantinigra DSM 44815T, with respect to a broad range of phenotypic properties. Thus, PPF5-17T represents a novel species, for which the name Micromonospora solifontis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is PPF5-17T (= TBRC 8478T = NBRC 113441T).
