RESUMO

There is an urgent need for vaccines against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) because of the ongoing SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. Among all approaches, a messenger RNA (mRNA)-based vaccine has emerged as a rapid and versatile platform to quickly respond to this challenge. Here, we developed a lipid nanoparticle-encapsulated mRNA (mRNA-LNP) encoding the receptor binding domain (RBD) of SARS-CoV-2 as a vaccine candidate (called ARCoV). Intramuscular immunization of ARCoV mRNA-LNP elicited robust neutralizing antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 as well as a Th1-biased cellular response in mice and non-human primates. Two doses of ARCoV immunization in mice conferred complete protection against the challenge of a SARS-CoV-2 mouse-adapted strain. Additionally, ARCoV is manufactured as a liquid formulation and can be stored at room temperature for at least 1 week. ARCoV is currently being evaluated in phase 1 clinical trials.

RESUMO

Thymic epithelial cell differentiation, growth and function depend on the expression of the transcription factor Foxn1; however, its target genes have never been physically identified. Using static and inducible genetic model systems and chromatin studies, we developed a genome-wide map of direct Foxn1 target genes for postnatal thymic epithelia and defined the Foxn1 binding motif. We determined the function of Foxn1 in these cells and found that, in addition to the transcriptional control of genes involved in the attraction and lineage commitment of T cell precursors, Foxn1 regulates the expression of genes involved in antigen processing and thymocyte selection. Thus, critical events in thymic lympho-stromal cross-talk and T cell selection are indispensably choreographed by Foxn1.

RESUMO

Atractylodes macrocephala III (ATL III), with anti-inflammatory and antitumor effects, is the main compound of Atractylodes macrocephala. Whether ATL III has an effect on cervical cancer and the specific mechanism are still unclear. Here, we investigated the effects of ATL III on cervical cancer cells at different concentrations and found that ATL III downregulates insulin-like growth factor 2 mRNA-binding protein 3 (IGF2BP3), which was found to be highly expressed in cervical cancer tissue by RNA-Seq. In this study, we found that ATL III promotes apoptosis and regulates epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in cervical cancer cells (HeLa and SiHa cells) and that IGF2BP3 is a common target gene of ATL III in HeLa and SiHa cells. The expression level of IGF2BP3 in cervical cancer cells was proportional to their migration and invasion abilities. This was verified by transfection of cells with a small interfering RNA and an IGF2BP3 overexpression plasmid. After ATL III treatment, the migration and invasion abilities of cervical cancer cells were obviously reduced, but these effects were attenuated after overexpression of IGF2BP3. In addition, the transcription factor IGF2BP3 was predicted by the JASPAR system. After intersection with our sequencing results, we verified the promotional effect of ETV5 (ETS translocation variant 5) on IGF2BP3 and found that ALT III inhibited ETV5. In general, our research showed that ATL III inhibits the migration and invasion of cervical cancer cells by regulating IGF2BP3 through ETV5.

RESUMO

Oxygen evolution reaction is the essential anodic reaction for water splitting. Designing tunable electronic structures to overcome its slow kinetics is an effective strategy. Herein, the molecular ammonium iron sulfate dodecahydrate is employed as the precursor to synthesize the C, N, S triatomic co-doped Fe(Al)OOH on Ni foam (C,N,S-Fe(Al)OOH-NF) with asymmetric electronic structure. Both in situ oxygen vacancies and their special electronic configuration enable the electron transfer between the d-p orbitals and get the increase of OER activity. Density functional theory calculation further indicates the effect of electronic structure on catalytic activity and stability at the oxygen vacancies. In alkaline solution, the catalyst C,N,S-Fe(Al)OOH-NF shows good catalytic activity and stability for water splitting. For OER, the overpotential of 10 mA cm-2 is 264 mV, the tafel slope is 46.4 mV dec-1, the HER overpotential of 10 mA cm-2 is 188 mV, the tafel slope is 59.3 mV dec-1. The stability of the catalyst can maintain ≈100 h. This work has extraordinary implications for understanding the mechanistic relationship between electronic structure and catalytic activity for designing friendly metal (oxy)hydroxide catalysts.

RESUMO

Efficient construction of proton transport channels in proton exchange membranes maintaining conductivity under varied humidity is critical for the development of fuel cells. Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) hold great potential in providing precise and fast ion transport channels. However, the preparation of continuous free-standing COF membranes retaining their inherent structural advantages to realize excellent proton conduction performance is a major challenge. Herein, a zwitterionic COF material bearing positive ammonium ions and negative sulphonic acid ions is developed. Free-standing COF membrane with adjustable thickness is constructed via surface-initiated polymerization of COF monomers. The porosity, continuity, and stability of the membranes are demonstrated via the transmission electron microscopy (TEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) characterization. The rigidity of the COF structure avoids swelling in aqueous solution, which improves the chemical stability of the proton exchange membranes and improves the performance stability. In the higher humidity range (50-90%), the prepared zwitterionic COF membrane exhibits superior capability in retaining the conductivity compared to COF membrane merely bearing sulphonic acid group. The established strategy shows the potential for the application of zwitterionic COF in the proton exchange membrane fuel cells.

RESUMO

The numerous naturally-fragmented sky islands (SIs) in the Hengduan Mountains Region (HMR) of southwestern China constitute discontinuous landscapes where montane habitats are isolated by dry-hot valleys which have fostered exceptional species diversification and endemicity. However, studies documenting the crucial role of SI on the speciation dynamics of native freshwater organisms are scarce. Here we used a novel set of comprehensive genetic markers (24 nuclear DNA sequences and complete mitogenomes), morphological characters, and biogeographical information to reveal the evolutionary history and speciation mechanisms of a group of small-bodied montane potamids in the genus Tenuipotamon. Our results provide a robustly supported phylogeny, and suggest that the vicariance events of these montane crabs correlate well with the emergence of SIs due to the uplift of the HMR during the Late Oligocene. Furthermore, ancestrally, mountain ridges provided corridors for the dispersal of these montane crabs that led to the colonization of moist montane-specific habitats, aided by past climatic conditions that were the crucial determinants of their evolutionary history. The present results illustrated that the mechanisms isolating SIs are reinforced by the harsh-dry isolating climatic features of dry-hot valleys separating SIs and continue to affect local diversification. This offers insights into the causes of the high biodiversity and endemism shown by the freshwater crabs of the HMR-SIs in southwestern China.

RESUMO

Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome caused by porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) is one of the most economically devastating viral diseases in the global pork industry. To further clarify the epidemic characteristics of the virus, 365 clinical samples were collected from diseased pigs suffering from abortion and respiratory disease from 2018 to 2023 on 63 pig farms in Henan and Shanxi provinces, and screened for the presence of PRRSV using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). A total of 62 clinical samples (62/365, 16.99 %) were positive for PRRSV, and subsequently, full-length ORF5 gene sequences of 29 PRRSV strains and the complete genome sequence of one PRRSV HeN-HC isolate were obtained and analyzed. Phylogenetic analysis based on the ORF5 gene showed that 22 of the 29 PRRSV2 strains belonged to sublineage 1.8 (NADC30-like), 5 belonged to sublineage 8.5 (HP-PRRSV), and 2 belonged to sublineage 5.1 (VR-2332-like), indicating that both HP-PRRSV and NADC30-like strains were mainly circulating in Henan and Shanxi provinces. Compared to VR-2332 strain, different types of amino acid mutations were found in the GP5 protein of these 29 strains, and the amino acid deletions were displayed in the Nsp2 protein of the HeN-HC isolate, leading to the variation of protein structures. It is noteworthy that recombination events were identified in the HeN-Ping and HeN-B strains. In addition, a total of 60, 094 pig serum samples from Henan province were collected, and the positive rate of specific antibodies against PRRSV was 86.37 % from 2019 to 2022, and 86.66 %, 84.85 %, 87.54 % and 86.30 % in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022, respectively. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into the molecular epidemiology and evolution of PRRSV circulating in central China.

RESUMO

Despite the advancements in cancer therapy, delivering active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) using nanoparticles remains challenging due to the failed conveyance of the required drug payload, poor targeting ability, and poor biodistribution, hampering their clinical translation. Recently, the appropriate design of materials with intrinsic therapeutic functionalities has garnered enormous interest in the development of various intelligent therapeutic nanoplatforms. In this study, we demonstrate the fabrication of transition metal (molybdenum, Mo)-doped manganese dioxide (MnO2) nanoarchitectures, exhibiting diagnostic (magnetic resonance imaging, MRI) and therapeutic (chemodynamic therapy, CDT) functionalities. The facile hydrothermal approach-assisted Mo-doped MnO2 flower-like nanostructures offered tailorable morphologies in altered dimensions, precise therapeutic effects, exceptional biocompatibility, and biodegradability in the tumor microenvironment. The resultant defects due to doped Mo species exhibited peroxidase and oxidase activities, improving glutathione (GSH) oxidation. The two sets of variable valence metal ion pairs (Mn2+/Mn4+ and Mo5+/Mo6+) and their interplay could substantially improve the Fenton-like reaction and generate toxic hydroxyl radicals (•OH), thus achieving CDT-assisted antitumor effects. As inherent T1-MRI agents, these MnO2 nanoparticles displayed excellent MRI efficacy in vitro. Together, we believe that these conformational Mo-doped MnO2 nanoarchitectures with two pairs of variable valence states could potentiate drugless therapy in pharmaceutics.

RESUMO

Emerging evidence shows that disrupted gut microbiota-bile acid (BA) axis is critically involved in the development of neurodegenerative diseases. However, the alterations in spatial distribution of BAs among different brain regions that command important functions during aging and their exact roles in aging-related neurodegenerative diseases are poorly understood. Here, we analyzed the BA profiles in cerebral cortex, hippocampus, and hypothalamus of young and natural aging mice of both sexes. The results showed that aging altered brain BA profiles sex- and region- dependently, in which TßMCA was consistently elevated in aging mice of both sexes, particularly in the hippocampus and hypothalamus. Furthermore, we found that aging accumulated-TßMCA stimulated microglia inflammation in vitro and shortened the lifespan of C. elegans, as well as behavioral impairment and neuroinflammation in mice. In addition, metagenomic analysis suggested that the accumulation of brain TßMCA during aging was partially attributed to reduction in BSH-carrying bacteria. Finally, rejuvenation of gut microbiota by co-housing aged mice with young mice restored brain BA homeostasis and improved neurological dysfunctions in natural aging mice. In conclusion, our current study highlighted the potential of improving aging-related neuro-impairment by targeting gut microbiota-brain BA axis.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) leads to severe inflammation and lung injury. Our previous study showed that Ac2-26 (an active n-terminal peptide of Annexin A1) can reduce acute lung injury. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of Ac2-26 on lung injury in CPB rats. METHODS: Forty rats were randomly divided into the sham, CPB, Ac, Ac/serine/threonine kinase 1 (AKT1), and Ac/ glycogen synthase kinase (GSK)-3ß groups. The rats in the sham group only received anesthesia, intubation, and cannulation. The rats in the other 4 groups received the standard CPB procedure. The rats in the CPB, Ac, Ac/AKT1, and Ac/GSK3ß groups were immediately injected with saline, Ac2-26 (1 mg/kg), Ac2-26 combined with short hairpin RNA (AKT1), or Ac2-26 combined with a GSK3ß inhibitor after CPB. At 12 h after the end of CPB, the PaO2/ fraction of inspired oxygen ratio, wet/dry weight ratio and protein content in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were recorded. The numbers of macrophages and neutrophils in the BALF and blood were determined. Cytokine levels in the blood and BALF were investigated. Lung tissue histology and apoptosis were estimated. The expression of nuclear factor kappa- B, AKT1, GSK3ß, endothelial nitric oxide synthase and apoptosis-related proteins was analyzed. The survival of all the rats was recorded. RESULTS: Compared with the rats in the sham group, all the parameters examined worsened in the rats that received CPB. Compared with those in the CPB group, Ac2-26 significantly improved pulmonary capillary permeability, reduced cytokine levels, and decreased histological scores and apoptosis. The protective effect of Ac2-26 on lung injury was significantly reversed by AKT1 short hairpin RNA or a GSK3ß inhibitor. CONCLUSIONS: Ac2-26 significantly reduced lung injury and inflammation after CPB. The protective effect of Ac2-26 mainly depended on the AKT1/GSK3ß/endothelial nitric oxide synthase pathway.

RESUMO

Polyoxometalates (POMs) are esteemed for their remarkable stability and exceptionally high proton conductivity, rendering them ripe for extensive exploration owing to their research significance. Herein, we synthesized two bimolybdenum-capped {AlMoVI8MoV6O44} cluster-based coordination polymers through a solvothermal method. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis elucidates that H[(H2bimb)3(AlMoVI8MoV6O44)] [bimb = 1,4-bis(imidazole-1-ylmethyl)benzene, compound 1] is the POMs-organic supramolecular structure. The introduction of zinc ions into the reaction environment facilitated the connection of initially dispersed ligands, which yielded the well-ordered structure H3[Zn2(bimb)4(AlMoVI8MoV6O44)]·4H2O (compound 2) with a layer distance of 11.8 Å. The proton conductivities (σ) of two compounds were measured under conditions of 85 °C and 98% relative humidity (RH), resulting in values of 3.89 × 10-2 and 4.76 × 10-2 S·cm-1, respectively. This study presents a novel approach to fabricating POMs as proton conductors through structural design and manufacturing adjustments.

RESUMO

Resistant bacteria have always been of research interest worldwide. In the urban water system, the increased disinfectant usage gives more chances for undesirable disinfection-resistant bacteria. As the strongest oxidative disinfectant in large-scale water treatment, ozone might select ozone-resistant bacteria (ORB), which, however, have rarely been reported and are inexplicit for their resistant mechanisms and physiological characteristics. In this study, six strains of ORB were screened from a water reclamation plant in Beijing. Three of them (O7, CR19, and O4) were more resistant to ozone than all previously reported ORB or even spores. The ozone consumption capacity of extracellular polymeric substances and cell walls was proved to be the main sources of bacterial ozone resistance, rather than intracellular antioxidant enzymes. The transcriptome results elucidated that strong ORB possessed a combined antioxidant mechanism consisting of the enhanced transcription of protein synthesis, protein export, and polysaccharide export genes (LptF, LptB, NodJ, LivK, LviG, MetQ, MetN, and GltU). This study confirmed the existence of ORB in urban water systems and brought doubts to the idea of a traditional control strategy against chlorine-resistant bacteria. A salient "trade-off" effect between the ozone resistance and propagation ability indicated the weakness and potential control approaches of ORB.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection can cause liver failure, while individuals with Acquired Immunodeficiency Virus Disease (AIDS) are highly susceptible to various opportunistic infections, which can occur concurrently. The treatment process is further complicated by the potential occurrence of immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome (IRIS), which presents significant challenges and contributes to elevated mortality rates. CASE PRESENTATION: The 50-year-old male with a history of chronic hepatitis B and untreated human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection presented to the hospital with a mild cough and expectoration, revealing multi-drug resistant pulmonary tuberculosis (MDR-PTB), which was confirmed by XpertMTB/RIF PCR testing and tuberculosis culture of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF). The patient was treated with a regimen consisting of linezolid, moxifloxacin, cycloserine, pyrazinamide, and ethambutol for tuberculosis, as well as a combination of bictegravir/tenofovir alafenamide/emtricitabine (BIC/TAF/FTC) for HBV and HIV viral suppression. After three months of treatment, the patient discontinued all medications, leading to hepatitis B virus reactivation and subsequent liver failure. During the subsequent treatment for AIDS, HBV, and drug-resistant tuberculosis, the patient developed disseminated cryptococcal disease. The patient's condition worsened during treatment with liposomal amphotericin B and fluconazole, which was ultimately attributed to IRIS. Fortunately, the patient achieved successful recovery after appropriate management. CONCLUSION: Enhancing medical compliance is crucial for AIDS patients, particularly those co-infected with HBV, to prevent HBV reactivation and subsequent liver failure. Furthermore, conducting a comprehensive assessment of potential infections in patients before resuming antiviral therapy is essential to prevent the occurrence of IRIS. Early intervention plays a pivotal role in improving survival rates.

RESUMO

Chemical reactions of organic molecules on metal surfaces have been intensively investigated in the past decades, where metals play the role of catalysts in many cases. In this review, first, we summarize recent works on spatial molecules, small H2O, O2, CO, CO2 molecules, and the molecules carrying silicon groups as the new trends of molecular candidates for on-surface chemistry applications. Then, we introduce spectroscopy and DFT study advances in on-surface reactions. Especially, in situ spectroscopy technologies, such as electron spectroscopy, force spectroscopy, X-ray photoemission spectroscopy, STM-induced luminescence, tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy, temperature-programmed desorption spectroscopy, and infrared reflection adsorption spectroscopy, are important to confirm the occurrence of organic reactions and analyze the products. To understand the underlying mechanism, the DFT study provides detailed information about reaction pathways, conformational evolution, and organometallic intermediates. Usually, STM/nc-AFM topological images, in situ spectroscopy data, and DFT studies are combined to describe the mechanism behind on-surface organic reactions.

RESUMO

Protocobitis species are typical cave-dwelling fish, exhibiting distinctive morphological adaptations such as colorless body, lack of eyes, and reduced scales and ribs in response to their extreme cave habitats. Distinct from the recorded species, P. anteroventris, P. polylepis, and P. typhlops, a new species, Protocobitis longicostatus sp. nov., is described from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. Protocobitis longicostatus sp. nov. can easily be distinguished from all known congeners by the following characteristics: whole body covered by scales except head, 12 branched caudal fin rays, and long ribs. These species face threats from habitat degradation, hydrological changes, and environmental pollution. Thus, the conservation of cavefish in China has become an urgent issue.

RESUMO

Vacuum foam drying (VFD) has been shown to improve the thermostability and long-term shelf life of Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV). This study optimized the VFD process to improve the shelf life of NDV at laboratory-scale and then tested the optimized conditions at pilot-scale. The optimal NDV to T5 formulation ratio was determined to be 1:1 or 3:2. Using the 1:1 virus to formulation ratio, the optimal filling volumes were determined to be 13-17% of the vial capacity. The optimized VFD process conditions were determined to be at a shelf temperature of 25℃ with a minimum overall drying time of 44 h. The vaccine samples prepared using these optimized conditions at laboratory-scale exhibited virus titer losses of ≤ 1.0 log10 with residual moisture content (RMC) below 3%. Furthermore, these samples were transported for 97 days around China at ambient temperature without significant titer loss, thus demonstrating the thermostability of the NDV-VFD vaccine. Pilot-scale testing of the NDV-VFD vaccine at optimized conditions showed promising results for up-scaling the process as the RMC was below 3%. However, the virus titer loss was slightly above 1.0 log10 (approximately 1.1 log10). Therefore, the NDV-VFD process requires further optimization at pilot scale to obtain a titer loss of ≤ 1.0 log10. Results from this study provide important guidance for possible industrialization of NDV-VFD vaccine in the future. KEY POINTS: • The process optimization and scale-up test of thermostable NDV vaccine prepared through VFD is reported for the first time in this study. • The live attenuated NDV-VFD vaccine maintained thermostability for 97 days during long distance transportation in summer without cold chain conditions. • The optimized NDV-VFD vaccine preparations evaluated at pilot-scale maintained acceptable levels of infectivity after preservation at 37℃ for 90 days, which demonstrated the feasibility of the vaccine for industrialization.

RESUMO

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a vision-threatening diabetic complication that is characterized by microvasculature impairment and immune dysfunction. The present study demonstrated that M2 microglia intensively participated in retinal microangiopathy in human diabetic proliferative membranes, mice retinas, retinas of mice with oxygen-induced retinopathy (OIR) mice, and retinas of streptozotocin-induced DR mice. Further in vivo and in vitro experiments showed that exosomes derived from M2 polarized microglia (M2-exo) could reduce pericyte apoptosis and promote endothelial cell proliferation, thereby promoting vascular remodeling and reducing vascular leakage from the diabetic retina. These effects were further enhanced by M2-exo that facilitated M2 polarization of retinal microglia. Collectively, the study demonstrated the capability of M2-exo to induce retinal microvascular remodeling, which may provide a new therapeutic strategy for the treatment of DR.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Aniridia is a rare eye disorder with a high incidence of glaucoma, and surgical intervention is often needed to control the intraocular pressure (IOP). Here, we reported a case of illuminated microcatheter-assisted circumferential trabeculotomy (MAT) performed on an aniridic glaucoma patient following a previous failed angle surgery. The surgical procedures for aniridic glaucoma were also reviewed. CASE PRESENTATION: A 21-year-old man, diagnosed with aniridic glaucoma, came to our hospital consulting for the poor control of left eye's IOP despite receiving goniotomy surgery 3 years ago. The IOP was 26 mmHg with maximum topical antiglaucoma eyedrops. The central cornea was opaque and the majority of iris was absent. The gonioscopy and ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) demonstrated that 360° anterior chamber angle was closed. The whole exome sequencing of peripheral blood confirmed a 13.39 Mb copy number loss at chromosome 11p15.1p13, containing PAX6 and WT1 gene. The 360° MAT surgery was performed on his left eye. At 1-year follow-up, the IOP was 19mmHg with 2 kinds of topical antiglaucoma medications, and the postoperative UBM demonstrated the successful incision of the anterior chamber angle. CONCLUSIONS: The case presented here exhibited a case of aniridic glaucoma treated by MAT surgery. The MAT surgery may be an effective option for IOP control in aniridic glaucoma patients following a previous failed angle surgery.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To analyse and discuss the association of gender differences with the risk and incidence of poststroke aphasia (PSA) and its types, and to provide evidence-based guidance for the prevention and treatment of poststroke aphasia in clinical practice. DATA SOURCES: Embase, PubMed, Cochrane Library and Web of Science were searched from January 1, 2002, to December 1, 2023. STUDY SELECTION: Including the total number of strokes, aphasia, the number of different sexes or the number of PSA corresponding to different sex. DATA EXTRACTION: Studies with missing data, aphasia caused by nonstroke and noncompliance with the requirements of literature types were excluded. DATA SYNTHESIS: 36 papers were included, from 19 countries. The analysis of 168,259 patients with stroke and 31,058 patients with PSA showed that the risk of PSA was 1.23 times higher in female than in male (OR = 1.23, 95% CI = 1.19-1.29, P < 0.001), with a prevalence of PSA of 31% in men and 36% in women, and an overall prevalence of 34% (P < 0.001). Analysis of the risk of the different types of aphasia in 1,048 patients with PSA showed a high risk in females for global, broca and Wenicke aphasia, and a high risk in males for anomic, conductive and transcortical aphasia, which was not statistically significant by meta-analysis. The incidence of global aphasia (males vs. females, 29% vs. 32%) and broca aphasia (17% vs 19%) were higher in females, and anomic aphasia (19% vs 14%) was higher in males, which was statistically significant (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: There are gender differences in the incidence and types of PSA. The risk of PSA in female is higher than that in male.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate (1) lateral atlantoaxial articulation (LAA) morphology in patients with basilar invagination (BI) with atlantoaxial dislocation (AAD) and healthy individuals and its relationship with the severity of dislocation and (2) the effect of the LAA morphology on reduction degree (RD) after surgery. METHODS: In this retrospective propensity score matching case-control study, imaging and baseline data of 62 patients with BI and AAD from 2011 to 2022 were collected. Six hundred thirteen  participants without occipitocervical junctional deformity served as controls. Logistic regression and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve were used for analysis. RESULTS: The age, BMI and sex did not differ significantly between the two groups after propensity score matching. Sagittal slope angle (SSA) and coronal slope angle (CSA) was lower and greater, respectively, in the patient group than in the control group. A negative SSA value usually indicates anteverted LAA. Regression analysis revealed a significant negative correlation between SSA and severity of dislocation. However, no relationship was found between CSA and the severity of dislocation. The multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that minimum-SSA emerged as an independent predictor of satisfactory reduction (RD ≥ 90%). The ROC curve demonstrated an area under the curve of 0.844, with a cut-off value set at -40.2. CONCLUSION: SSA in patients group was significantly smaller and more asymmetric than that in the control group. Dislocation severity was related to SSA but not to CSA. Minimum-SSA can be used as a predictor of horizontal RD after surgery.
