AIMS: Blood stasis is crucial in developing left atrial (LA) thrombi. LA appendage peak flow velocity (LAAFV) is a quantitative parameter for estimating thromboembolic risk. However, its impact on LA thrombus resolution and clinical outcomes remains unclear. METHODS AND RESULTS: The LAT study was a multicentre observational study investigating patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and silent LA thrombi detected by transoesophageal echocardiography (TEE). Among 17 436 TEE procedures for patients with AF, 297 patients (1.7%) had silent LA thrombi. Excluding patients without follow-up examinations, we enrolled 169 whose baseline LAAFV was available. Oral anticoagulation use increased from 85.7% at baseline to 97.0% at the final follow-up (P < 0.001). During 1 year, LA thrombus resolution was confirmed in 130 (76.9%) patients within 76 (34-138) days. Conversely, 26 had residual LA thrombi, 8 had thromboembolisms, and 5 required surgical removal. These patients with failed thrombus resolution had lower baseline LAAFV than those with successful resolution (18.0 [15.8-22.0] vs. 22.2 [17.0-35.0], P = 0.003). Despite limited predictive power (area under the curve, 0.659; P = 0.001), LAAFV ≤ 20.0 cm/s (best cut-off) significantly predicted failed LA thrombus resolution, even after adjusting for potential confounders (odds ratio, 2.72; 95% confidence interval, 1.22-6.09; P = 0.015). The incidence of adverse outcomes including ischaemic stroke/systemic embolism, major bleeding, or all-cause death was significantly higher in patients with reduced LAAFV than in those with preserved LAAFV (28.4% vs. 11.6%, log-rank P = 0.005). CONCLUSION: Failed LA thrombus resolution was not rare in patients with AF and silent LA thrombi. Reduced LAAFV was associated with failed LA thrombus resolution and adverse clinical outcomes.

BACKGROUND: It remains controversial whether a cancer history increases the risk of cardiovascular (CV) events among patients with myocardial infarction (MI) who undergo revascularization.Methods and Results: Patients who were confirmed as type 1 acute MI (AMI) by coronary angiography were retrospectively analyzed. Patients who died in hospital or those not undergoing revascularization were excluded. Patients with a cancer history were compared with those without it. A cancer history was examined in the in-hospital cancer registry. The primary outcome was a composite of cardiac death, recurrent type 1 MI, post-discharge coronary revascularization, heart failure hospitalization, and stroke. Among 551 AMI patients, 55 had a cancer history (cancer group) and 496 did not (non-cancer group). Cox proportional hazards model revealed that the risk of composite endpoint was significantly higher in the cancer group than in the non-cancer group (adjusted hazard ratio [HR]: 1.78; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.13-2.82). Among the cancer group, patients who were diagnosed as AMI within 6 months after the cancer diagnosis had a higher risk of the composite endpoint than those who were diagnosed as AMI 6 months or later after the cancer diagnosis (adjusted HR: 5.43; 95% CI: 1.55-19.07). CONCLUSIONS: A cancer history increased the risk of CV events after discharge among AMI patients after revascularization.

BACKGROUND: Catheter ablation (CA) for atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients on hemodialysis (HD) is reported to have a high risk of late recurrence (LR). However, the relationship between early recurrence (ER) within a 90-day blanking period after CA in AF patients and LR in HD patients remains unclear.Methods and Results: Of the 5,010 patients in the Kansai Plus Atrial Fibrillation Registry, 5,009 were included in the present study. Of these patients, 4,942 were not on HD (non-HD group) and 67 were on HD (HD group). HD was an independent risk factor for LR after the initial CA (adjusted hazard ratio 1.6; 95% confidence interval 1.1-2.2; P=0.01). In patients with ER, the rate of sinus rhythm maintenance at 3 years after the initial CA was significantly lower in the HD than non-HD group (11.4% vs. 35.4%, respectively; log-rank P=0.004). However, in patients without ER, there was no significant difference in the rate of sinus rhythm maintenance at 3 years between the HD and non-HD groups (67.7% vs. 74.5%, respectively; log-rank P=0.62). CONCLUSIONS: ER in HD patients was a strong risk factor for LR. However, even HD patients could expect a good outcome without ER after the initial CA.

BACKGROUND: It has not been fully elucidated which patients with persistent atrial fibrillation (PerAF) should undergo substrate ablation plus pulmonary vein isolation (PVI). This study aimed to identify PerAF patients who required substrate ablation using intraprocedural assessment of the baseline rhythm and the origin of atrial fibrillation (AF) triggers.Methods and Results: This was a post hoc subanalysis using extended data of the EARNEST-PVI trial, a prospective multicenter randomized trial comparing PVI-alone and PVI-plus (i.e., PVI with added catheter ablation) arms. We divided 492 patients into 4 groups according to baseline rhythm and the location of AF triggers before PVI: Group A (n=22), sinus rhythm with pulmonary vein (PV)-specific AF triggers (defined as reproducible AF initiation from PVs only); Group B (n=211), AF with PV-specific AF triggers; Group C (n=94), sinus rhythm with no PV-specific AF trigger; Group D (n=165), AF with no PV-specific AF trigger. Among the 4 groups, only in Group D (AF at baseline and no PV-specific AF triggers) was arrhythmia-free survival significantly lower in the PVI-alone than PVI-plus arm (P=0.032; hazard ratio 1.68; 95% confidence interval 1.04-2.70). CONCLUSIONS: Patients with sinus rhythm or PV-specific AF triggers did not receive any benefit from substrate ablation, whereas patients with AF and no PV-specific AF trigger benefited from substrate ablation.

In this study, a public seminar on risk communication methods was conducted to raise awareness and disseminate accurate knowledge about residual pesticides to consumers. Additionally, surveys on consumer awareness were conducted on the attendees before and after the seminar to evaluate its effectiveness. Responses were obtained from 84 participants. The paired t-test was used to analyze the changes in awareness before and after the seminar. The results showed significant improvements in "trust in the government" and "understanding of residual pesticides." Furthermore, step-wise multiple regression analysis was performed to explore the factors influencing satisfaction with the risk communication seminar, and the item "understanding of the safety of residual pesticides in food" was extracted. Understanding food safety is a crucial concern in daily life for consumers. To enable consumers to have an accurate understanding of food risks and make appropriate judgments, it is essential to continue implementing risk communication and conveying information about food safety and security in the future.

Methylotrophic yeasts can utilize methanol as the sole carbon and energy source, and the expression of their methanol-induced genes is regulated based on the environmental methanol concentration. Our understanding of the function of transcription factors and Wsc family of proteins in methanol-induced gene expression and methanol sensing is expanding, but the methanol signal transduction mechanism remains undetermined. Our study has revealed that the transcription factor KpMxr1 is involved in the concentration-regulated methanol induction (CRMI) in Komagataella phaffii (Pichia pastoris) and that the phosphorylation state of KpMxr1 changes based on methanol concentration. We identified the functional regions of KpMxr1 and determined its multiple phosphorylation sites. Non-phosphorylatable substitution mutations of these newly identified phosphorylated threonine and serine residues resulted in significant defects in CRMI. We revealed that KpMxr1 receives the methanol signal from Wsc family proteins via KpPkc1 independent of the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) cascade and speculate that the activity of KpPkc1 influences KpMxr1 phosphorylation state. We propose that the CRMI pathway from Wsc to KpMxr1 diverges from KpPkc1 and that phosphoregulation of KpMxr1 plays a crucial role in CRMI.

In nature, methanol is produced during the hydrolysis of pectin in plant cell walls. Methanol on plant leaves shows circadian dynamics, to which methanol-utilizing phyllosphere microorganisms adapt. In the methylotrophic yeast Komagataella phaffii (Kp; also known as Pichia pastoris), the plasma membrane protein KpWsc1 senses environmental methanol concentrations and transmits this information to induce the expression of genes for methanol metabolism and the formation of huge peroxisomes. In this study, we show that KpWsc1 and its downstream MAPK, KpMpk1, negatively regulate pexophagy in the presence of methanol concentrations greater than 0.15%. Although KpMpk1 was not necessary for expression of methanol-inducible genes and peroxisome biogenesis, KpMpk1, the transcription factor KpRlm1 and phosphatases were found to suppress pexophagy by controlling phosphorylation of KpAtg30, the key factor in regulation of pexophagy. We reveal at the molecular level how the single methanol sensor KpWsc1 commits the cell to peroxisome synthesis and degradation according to the methanol concentration, and we discuss the physiological significance of regulating pexophagy for survival in the phyllosphere. AIMS: The effectiveness of pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) guided by VISITAG SURPOINT (VS) has been demonstrated in Western populations. However, data for Asian populations are limited. VS settings may differ for Asians, given their smaller body size. This study aimed to describe outcomes of radiofrequency atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation guided by VS in a large Asian population. METHODS AND RESULTS: The prospective, observational, multicentre MIYABI registry collected real-world data from patients undergoing VS-guided AF ablation using ThermoCool SmartTouch and ThermoCool SmartTouch SF catheters from 50 Japanese centres. All patients had paroxysmal AF or persistent AF for <6 months. Primary adverse events (PAEs) were evaluated for safety. The primary efficacy endpoint was the proportion of patients with PVI at the end of the procedure. Mid-term effectiveness (up to 12 months) was evaluated by freedom from documented atrial arrhythmias. Of the 1011 patients enrolled, 1002 completed AF ablation. The mean number of VS values per procedure was 428.8 on the anterior wall and 400.4 on the posterior wall. Nine patients (0.9%) experienced PAEs. Upon procedure completion, 99.7% of patients had PVI. Twelve-month freedom from atrial arrhythmia recurrence was 88.5%; 5.7% of patients were re-ablated. At repeat ablation, 54% of RSPV, 73% of RIPV, 70% of LSPV, and 86% of LIPV evaluated remained durably isolated. CONCLUSION: Despite lower anterior wall VS values compared with the CLOSE protocol (≥550), the present study demonstrated comparable efficacy outcomes, indicating that a VS of ≥550 for the anterior wall may not be necessary for Asian patients.

Cannabidiol (CBD) oil products are available in Japan as cosmetics, fragrances, food and items. Herein, quality testing of cannabinoid profiling in CBD oil products and the evaluation of possible residual tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in these products using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) was conducted. A simple, sensitive, and selective LC-MS/MS assay (electrospray positive ion mode) was employed for the simultaneous quantification of eight cannabinoids. This quantification with three different oil samples showed that accuracy rates ranged from 87.7 to 106.9% (RSD > 3.5%). Furthermore, the quantification limit of THC is 0.001 mg/g of CBD oil products for suitable levels lower than the regulatory value. Notably, this method was used to evaluate CBD oil products from the Japanese market. Additionally, we investigated the THC conversion in CBD oil products at a high temperature (70°C) which has a minor effect on CBD stability in oil products with additives. Herein, the developed LC-MS/MS assay is applied to monitor the quality of CBD, trace THC and other components in CBD oil products.

BACKGROUND: Coexisting sick sinus syndrome (SSS) is associated with both electrical and structural atrial remodelling in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). Limited data are available concerning catheter ablation (CA) for AF in this condition. This study investigated the efficacy of CA as a curative therapy for AF and SSS in a large-scale prospective multicentre registry. METHODS: The Kansai Plus Atrial Fibrillation (KPAF) registry enrolled 5,010 consecutive patients who underwent CA for AF; this included 3,133 patients with paroxysmal AF (mean age, 66 years; male, 69.3%; mean CHA2DS2-VASc score, 2.05±1.50; SSS, n=315 [tachy-brady syndrome, n=285]). The endpoints included the recurrence of AF with a blanking period of 90 days after CA, and de novo pacemaker implantation during the follow-up period (median duration, 2.93 years). RESULTS: The AF-free survival did not significantly differ between patients with and those without SSS (n=2,818) after the initial (log-rank p=0.864) and final sessions (log-rank p=0.268). Pacemakers were implanted in 48 patients with SSS, and implantation in this group was significantly associated with AF recurrence, including early recurrence (adjusted odds ratio, 3.57; 95% confidence interval, 1.67-7.64; p=0.002). The remaining 85.3% of patients with SSS did not require pacemaker implantation at 3 years after CA. CONCLUSIONS: Coexisting SSS did not adversely affect recurrence-free survival after CA for paroxysmal AF. Pacemaker implantation was not required in most patients with SSS, with AF recurrence serving as a strong predictor for this.

Schwann cells play an important role in peripheral myelination, and dysfunction of these cells leads to axonal damage. Schwann cells degenerate following peripheral nerve injury. Immature Schwann cells proliferate, differentiate, and support axonal regeneration and extension during recovery. There are a lot of intracellular signals involved in the myelination process. Although serum- and glucocorticoid-inducible kinase (SGK1) in Schwann cells is supposedly involved in developmental myelination, its significance during peripheral nerve injury and repair remains unknown. In this study, we examined the dynamics of SGK1 during peripheral nerve repair and the potential role of SGK in the process. Axonal crush injury was first generated in the right sciatic nerve under anesthesia in mice, which exhibited apparent paralysis and subsequent recovery of the injured hindlimbs. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed the appearance of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP)-positive immature Schwann cells around injured nerves, and SGK1 was present in these cells. Next, we employed S16 cells, a Schwann cell line, to explore the impact of SGK1 on Schwann cells. Administration of the SGK inhibitor gsk650394 decreased cell proliferation and increased cell size. SGK inhibition did not cause cellular injury, suggesting that it suppresses proliferation and enlarges Schwann cells without causing cell death. Furthermore, quantitative PCR and immunoblotting revealed that SGK inhibition upregulated the gene expression of BDNF, MBP, and Krox20, which are facilitating factors for myelination and neural regeneration, and downregulated that of Sox10. Taken together, these findings indicate that SGK1 inactivation in Schwann cells diverts cell fate from proliferation to differentiation.

AIMS: Heart failure (HF) prognosis has been reported similar in patients with preserved vs. reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). This study compared the long-term prognosis of HF patients undergoing radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) for atrial fibrillation (AF). METHODS AND RESULTS: Among 5010 patients undergoing RFCA in Kansai Plus AF registry, 656 patients (13.1%) with a documented history of HF were enrolled in the study before RFCA. The primary endpoint was a composite of all-cause death, HF hospitalization, and stroke or systemic embolism. Patients with reduced (<40%), mid-range (40-49%), and preserved (≥50%) LVEF were 98 (14.9%), 107 (16.3%), and 451 (68.8%) patients, respectively. The prevalence of ischaemic heart disease and cardiomyopathies was higher among patients with reduced as compared with preserved LVEF (27.6% vs. 10.0%, P < 0.05 and 36.7% vs. 15.3%, P < 0.05, respectively). The median follow-up period was 2.9 years. The 3-year cumulative risk for the primary endpoint was higher in patients with reduced LVEF (32.7%) compared to those with mid-range (11.7%) or preserved (11.6%) LVEF (P < 0.001). Reduced LVEF was the most significant independent risk factor for primary endpoint (hazard ratio, 2.83; 95% confidence interval 1.74-4.61, P < 0.001). The 3-year arrhythmia recurrence rate was similar among the groups (48.2%, 42.8%, and 47.3%, respectively, P = 0.75). CONCLUSION: This study raises hypothesis that patients with HFrEF and AF had approximately three times higher risk for a composite of all-cause death, HF hospitalization, and stroke or systemic embolism after AF ablation compared with patients with HFmrEF or HFpEF.

BACKGROUND: Women experience more severe arrhythmogenic substrates. This study hypothesized that an extensive ablation strategy, such as linear ablation and/or complex fractionated atrial electrogram (CFAE) ablation in addition to pulmonary vein isolation (PVI-plus), might be effective for women, whereas the PVI alone strategy (PVI-alone) might be sufficient for men to maintain sinus rhythm. The aim of this study was to test this hypothesis.Methods and Results: This study is a post-hoc subanalysis of the EARNEST-PVI trial focusing on sex differences in the efficacies of different ablation strategies. The EARNEST-PVI trial was a prospective, multicenter, randomized, and open-label non-inferiority trial in patients with persistent AF. The primary endpoint was recurrence of AF, atrial flutter, or atrial tachycardia. The EARNEST-PVI trial randomized 376 (76%) men (PVI-alone 186, PVI-plus 190) and 121 (24%) women (PVI-alone 63, PVI-plus 58). The event rate was significantly lower for men and numerically lower for women in the PVI-plus than the PVI-alone group, and there was no interaction between men and women (hazard ratio, 0.641; 95% confidence interval, 0.417-0.985; P value, 0.043 for men vs. hazard ratio, 0.661; 95% confidence interval, 0.352-1.240; P value, 0.197 for women; P value for interaction, 0.989). CONCLUSIONS: The superiority of the extensive ablation strategy vs. the PVI-alone strategy for persistent AF was consistent across both sexes.

BACKGROUND: The superiority of a fully magnetically levitated centrifugal-flow left ventricular assist device (LVAD) in terms of overall survival, stroke events and pump thrombosis has been demonstrated in previous international analyses, so we evaluated a Japanese cohort for the same.Methods and Results: This retrospective observational study was conducted at Osaka University Medical Hospital and the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center in Japan. A total of 75 consecutive patients who underwent HeartMate3 (HM3) implantation were included. The primary endpoint was on-device survival, and the secondary endpoint was the incidence of LVAD-related complications at 2 years. All parameters were compared with those of the previously performed HeartMate II (HMII) implantation in 197 cases. The on-device survival rates were 94.7% and 92.3% in the HM3 and HMII groups, respectively, at the 2-year follow-up (P=0.62). The rehospitalization-free rate after implantation was 61.8% in the HM3 group, which was significantly higher than that in the HMII group (relative risk, 0.35; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.23-0.55; P<0.0001). Event-free survival rates from cerebral cerebrovascular events and pump thrombosis in the HM3 group were significantly higher than those in the HMII group, at 97.2% and 100%, respectively (relative risk, 0.14; 95% CI 0.03-0.58); P=0.0015 and relative risk, not calculated; P=0.049, respectively). CONCLUSIONS: Satisfactory short-term outcomes were observed after HM3 implantation in a Japanese cohort.

Left atrial (LA) function can help predict various cardiovascular events. Catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF) modifies baseline LA function through the maintenance of sinus rhythm and myocardial injury. We investigated the impact of post-ablation LA function on recurrence of AF after ablation and identified the predictors of reduced post-ablation LA function. A total of 616 patients who underwent AF ablation (paroxysmal, N = 310; non-paroxysmal, N = 306) were retrospectively examined with cardiac computed tomography at baseline and 3 months after the final ablation procedure. Post-ablation LA emptying fraction (LAEFpost) was calculated. We evaluated the association between LAEFpost and recurrence of AF after the final ablation procedure. Further, we assessed the predictors of reduced LAEFpost. The recurrence rate of AF was 72.7% after the final ablation procedure [median follow-up 48 months (48.0, 48.0), total number of ablation sessions: 1.4 ± 0.7]. Multivariate analysis revealed that LAEFpost was associated with the recurrence of AF (hazard ratio/10% increase: 0.62, 95% confidence interval: 0.51-0.75, P < 0.0001). LAEFpost had a mild predictive power for recurrence of AF (c-statistics: 0.670, optimal cutoff: 26.36%, P < 0.0001). The recurrence-free proportion among patients with reduced LAEFpost (< 26.36%, N = 100) and those with preserved LAEFpost (≥ 26.36%, N = 516) was 40% and 79%, respectively (P < 0.0001). The predictors of reduced LAEFpost were low pre-ablation LAEF, high pre-ablation LA volume, low body mass index (BMI), and female sex. Further, reduced LAEFpost was associated with the total number of ablation sessions and extra-pulmonary vein LA ablation. In conclusion, reduced LAEFpost was associated with recurrence of AF after ablation. Advanced LA remodeling, low BMI, and female sex could predict reduced LAEFpost. Although additional ablation was associated with reduced LAEFpost, it remains unclear whether reduced LAEFpost resulted from the additional ablation. Reduced LAEFpost might help stratify patients with ablation-refractory AF.

Red cell distribution width (RDW) is reportedly associated with cardiovascular events, including atrial fibrillation (AF). We investigated whether the RDW values were associated with the outcomes of catheter ablation for AF. This retrospective multicenter study included 501 patients with AF (239 paroxysmal AF cases, 196 persistent AF cases, and 66 long-standing persistent AF cases) who underwent initial AF ablation between March 2017 and May 2018. The RDW values were evaluated before and at 1-3 months after the procedure. The patients were stratified based on the recurrence of AF within 1 year after the index procedure with a blanking period of 3 months into recurrence group (107 patients, 21.4%) and no-recurrence group (394 patients, 78.6%). There were no significant differences in preoperative RDW values between the groups (p = 0.37). The RDW value did not change significantly after the ablation in the recurrence group (13.55-13.60%, p = 0.37), although it decreased significantly in the no-recurrence group (13.64-13.37%, p < 0.001). Multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression analyses revealed that a postoperative change in RDW (ΔRDW) was independently associated with AF recurrence (hazard ratio 2.00, 95% confidence interval 1.42-2.76, p < 0.001). Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis revealed that a ΔRDW cut-off value of - 0.1% provided a c-statistic of 0.65 for predicting AF recurrence. Decrease in RDW during the blanking period after ablation independently predicted the 1-year success of AF ablation.

Thrombus formation is a troublesome and sometimes lethal complication occurring in patients with severe heart failure and supported by a left ventricular assist device (LVAD). Appropriate treatment for pump thrombosis especially in emergency cases with severe pump failure is difficult to choose. Herein, we present important findings of a case of unexpected LVAD pump thrombosis that rapidly developed into serious pump failure and circulatory arrest due to total obstruction of the LVAD inflow tract by a huge thrombus.

Cannabidiol (CBD), a major non-psychoactive cannabinoid, has a lot of attention due to its potential relaxing properties and led the trend in commercial CBD aroma/oral hemp seed oil from the Japanese market. In this study, a routine assay for evaluating CBD oil samples was performed using LC coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) and was used to apply the convertible tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in acetic acid conditions. Based on the electrospray positive ion mode, the detection of cannabidiolic acid (CBDA; m/z 359 > 219), cannabigerolic acid (CBGA; m/z 361 > 343), cannabigerol (CBG; m/z 317 > 193), CBD (m/z 315 > 193), THC (m/z 315 > 193) and cannabinol (CBN; m/z 311 > 223) was performed by satisfying separation with high density of C18 column. Oil samples (50 mg) were diluted with isopropanol (5 mL), to which stable isotope internal standards were added by dilution with methanol/water (50/50), and accuracy rates ranged from 97.8 to 102.2%. This method was used to evaluate the CBD oil products (5 kinds) from the Japanese market. Our survey found obvious counterfeit (non-detectable CBD) CBD oil from Japanese market. Following that, we investigated the conversion of THC in CBD oil samples in simple conditions such as 10% acetic acid and 70 °C for 6 h and discovered that converts THC proportions are approximately 5% ((THC content/CBD content) × 100) and <1.0%. Thus, our developed LC-MS/MS assay could be applied to monitor the CBD concentration and convertible THC from CBD oil.

Due to the globalization of food production and distribution, the food chain has become increasingly complex, making it more difficult to evaluate unexpected food changes. Therefore, establishing sensitive, robust, and cost-effective analytical platforms to efficiently extract and analyze the food-chemicals in complex food matrices is essential, however, challenging. LC/MS-based metabolomics is the key to obtain a broad overview of human metabolism and understand novel food science. Various metabolomics approaches (e.g., targeted and/or untargeted) and sample preparation techniques in food analysis have their own advantages and limitations. Selecting an analytical platform that matches the characteristics of the analytes is important for food analysis. This review highlighted the recent trends and applications of metabolomics based on "foodomics" by LC-MS and provides the perspectives and insights into the methodology and various sample preparation techniques in food analysis.

We report on the recommendation of the simple and versatility of methylated reference (MR) to improve applications in the single reference (SR)-LC based on relative molar sensitivity (RMS). Three curcuminoids (Curs) such as curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin in turmeric products were determined using authentic standards and methylated curcumin. In addition, high-speed countercurrent chromatography (HSCCC) purification is necessary to separate Curs for indicating the RMS. For HSCCC separation, a biphasic solvent system was used to obtain these fractions, which were then subjected to 1H quantitative NMR to determine their contents in each test solution. Using these solutions, the RMS of Curs are calculated from slopes ratios of calibration curves (three ranges from 0-100 µmol/L, r2 > 0.998). The averaged RMS of Curs were 8.92 (relative standard deviation (RSD), 1.17%), 8.97 (2.18%), and 9.61 (0.77%), respectively. Cur concentrations in turmeric products can be determined using RMS, peak area, and MR content added in these samples. This proposed method, which is based on chemical methylation and the SR-LC assay has been successfully applied for the simple and reliable estimation of Curs in turmeric products.
