RESUMO

Paraffin (PA)/expanded graphite (EG) is an important composite phase change material with low cost, high heat storage, good thermal conductivity and cycling stability. Its thermal conductivity needs to be further improved for application in the thermal management system of power lithium-ion batteries. In this paper, copper plated expanded graphite (CPEG) with 3D porous structure was prepared by electroless copper plating method, which was used as thermal conductivity enhancing material to replace part of EG in PA/EG composite materials. For the optimized phase change material composed of 80 %PA-14 %EG-6 %CPEG, the copper content is very low (0.768 wt %), but its thermal conductivity can be significantly improved without loss of latent heat and thermal cycling stability. Its thermal conductivity is increased from 11 times to 16.5 times that of paraffin while compared with the copper-free composite material (80 %PA-20 %EG). The PA/EG/CPEG composite material exhibits good temperature control effect on power lithium-ion batteries.

Bear bile powder (BBP) is one of the most famous traditional Chinese medicines derived from animals. It has a long history of medicinal use and is widely used in the treatment of hepatobiliary and ophthalmic diseases. Due to its similar morphological characterizations and chemical composition compared with other bile powders, it is difficult to accurately identify its authenticity. In addition, there are very few methods that could analyze the geographical origins of BBP. In this study, elemental analysis isotope ratio mass spectrometry (EA-IRMS) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) were used to determine stable isotope ratios and elemental contents, respectively. Combined these variables with chemometrics, the discrimination models were established successfully for identifying the authenticity and geographical origins of BBP. Meanwhile, the discrimination markers were identified by calculating the variable importance for the projection (VIP) value of each variable. A total of 13 discrimination markers (δ13C, δ15N, C, Li, Mg, K, Ca, Cr, Ni, Zn, As, Se, and Sr) were used to further establish the fingerprint of BBP. According to similarity analysis, the authenticity and geographical origins of BBP could be identified without chemometrics. In conclusion, the present study established a reliable method for authenticity identification and origin traceability of BBP, which will provide references for the quality control of bile medicines.

Iris recognition has been considered as one of the most accurate and reliable biometric technologies, and it is widely used in security applications. Iris segmentation and iris localization, as important preprocessing tasks for iris biometrics, jointly determine the valid iris part of the input eye image; however, iris images that have been captured in user non-cooperative and visible illumination environments often suffer from adverse noise (e.g., light reflection, blurring, and glasses occlusion), which challenges many existing segmentation-based parameter-fitting localization methods. To address this problem, we propose a novel double-center-based end-to-end iris localization and segmentation network. Different from many previous iris localization methods, which use massive post-process methods (e.g., integro-differential operator-based or circular Hough transforms-based) on iris or contour mask to fit the inner and outer circles, our method directly predicts the inner and outer circles of the iris on the feature map. In our method, an anchor-free center-based double-circle iris-localization network and an iris mask segmentation module are designed to directly detect the circle boundary of the pupil and iris, and segment the iris region in an end-to-end framework. To facilitate efficient training, we propose a concentric sampling strategy according to the center distribution of the inner and outer iris circles. Extensive experiments on the four challenging iris data sets show that our method achieves excellent iris-localization performance; in particular, it achieves 84.02% box IoU and 89.15% mask IoU on NICE-II. On the three sub-datasets of MICHE, our method achieves 74.06% average box IoU, surpassing the existing methods by 4.64%.

BACKGROUND: QP001, a novel meloxicam formulation, has been developed to manage moderate to severe postoperative pain. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of QP001 injections for moderate to severe pain following abdominal surgery. METHOD: This prospective, multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial enlisted patients experiencing moderate to severe pain following abdominal surgery. These patients were randomized to receive either QP001 injections (30 mg or 60 mg) or a placebo pre-surgery. The primary efficacy endpoint was the total morphine consumption within 24 h after the first administration. RESULTS: A total of 108 patients were enrolled, and 106 patients completed the study. The total morphine consumption in the QP001 30 mg group and 60 mg group, versus placebo group, were significantly lower over the following 24 h (5.11[5.46] vs 8.86[7.67], P = 0.011; 3.11[3.08] vs 8.86[7.67], P < 0.001), respectively. The total morphine consumption in the QP001 30 mg and 60 mg groups, versus placebo group, was also significantly decreased over the following 48 h, including the 24-48 h period (P ≤ 0.001). The QP001 30 mg and 60 mg groups, versus placebo, showed a significant decrease in the area under the curve for pain intensity-time as well as a significant decrease in the effective pressing times of the analgesic pump over the 24 h and 48 h periods (P < 0.05). The QP001 groups, versus placebo, show no significant different in Adverse Events or Adverse Drug Reactions (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: Preoperative/preemptive QP001 provides analgesia and reduces opioid consumption in patients with moderate to severe pain following abdominal surgery, while maintaining a favorable safety profile.

Repeatable printing of invisible multicolor luminescence patterns with long retention times on transparent substrates is of significant importance, but it remains a formidable challenge. Here, two novel hydrazone-based on/off fluorescent photoswitches with decent emission quantum efficiencies, good reversible photoisomerization properties, and extremely long thermal half-lives, were designed and synthesized. Excitingly, X-ray crystallography data of both Z and E isomers of one hydrazone-based photoswitch were obtained. Multiple emission colors of blue, cyan, green, yellow, and orange can be obtained readily for these two photoswitches upon coordination with various zinc salts. Moreover, the photo-controlled rewritable printing of invisible multicolor images with high resolution was achieved by using these photoswitches. Importantly, the legibility of the printed patterns can last at least over 3 months without detectable emission intensity loss under ambient conditions.

Excitation-wavelength-dependent (Ex-De) emission materials show excellent potential in diverse advanced photonic areas. Of significant importance is the on-demand regulation of the Ex-De luminescence behavior of these materials, which is previously unprecedented. In this study, we report on a platinum(II) complex-based phosphorescent soft salt S1 ([Pt(tpp)(ed)]+[Pt(ftpp)(CN)2]- (where ttp = 2-(4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)pyridine, ed = ethane-1,2-diamine, and ftpp = 2-(4-fluoro-3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)pyridine)) with Ex-De photoluminescence (PL) property. UV-visible absorption and PL spectra of S1 were recorded in DMSO-H2O mixture (1 × 10-3 M) with various H2O fractions to investigate its ground and excited states. Interestingly, the PL spectra of S1 powder show that its maximum emission peak is red-shifted from 595 to 644 nm upon excitation at different wavelengths from 360 to 520 nm, accompanied by an obvious emission color change from yellow-orange to red. Furthermore, confocal laser scanning fluorescence microscopy was employed to determine the PL property of self-assembled uniform S1 nanostructure, and the result shows that the Ex-De emission behavior is absent. On the basis of these results, we conclude the various Pt(II)···Pt(II) distances that exist are the major factor responsible for the properties of the Ex-De PL of S1 powder. Thus, for the first time, reversible on-off switching of Ex-De PL of S1 was achieved by manipulating its Pt(II)···Pt(II) distances through mechanical stress and vapor fuming. Finally, we demonstrate the high-level anticounterfeiting applications via on-demand multicolor displays.

BACKGROUND: Many options exist for the management of cholelithiasis and secondary choledocholithiasis. Among them, laparoscopic common bile duct exploration (LCBDE) with choledocotomy followed by laparoscopic cholecystectomy has gained popularity. However, efforts should be made to ensure minimally invasive or noninvasive management of the common bile duct (CBD). The purpose of this study was to explore the clinical experience of non-invasive surgical modality, i.e., laparoscopic transcystic dilation of the cystic duct confluence in CBD exploration (LTD-CBDE), including feasibility, safety, adverse events, and incidence. METHODS: In this retrospective analysis, 68 patients were offered the LTD-CBDE technique from December 2015 to April 2018 based on patient's own intention. During the surgery, the cystic duct confluence was dilated with separation forceps and/or a columnar dilation balloon. Subsequently, CBD exploration and stone extraction were performed with a choledochoscope. The entrance of the CBD was covered with a cystic duct stump wall and was subjected to primary closure at the end of surgery. RESULTS: Forty-nine females and 19 males with cholelithiasis and secondary choledocholithiasis were included. The mean age was 53 years old (18 to 72 year). Of these patients, 62 (91.2%) were successfully treated with the LTD-CBDE technique, and bile leakage was observed in 3 patients (4.4%). The mean operation time was 106 min, and the mean hospital stay was 5.9 days. Among the other 6 patients, 3 were converted to open cholecystectomy due to severe fibrosis, unclear anatomical structure at Calot's triangle (n = 2) or Mirizze syndrome (n = 1); LCBDE was performed in 3 patients due to cystic duct atresia (n = 2) and low level of flow from the gallbladder duct into the CBD (n = 1). These patients had a smooth postoperative course. In total, 43/68 of the patients presented no radiological evidence of retained CBD stones at the postoperative follow-up (40 patients treated with LTD-CBDE) 1 year later. CONCLUSIONS: The current work suggests that LTD-CBDE for the management of cholelithiasis and secondary choledocholithiasis is a feasible, safe and effective technique with a low complication rate. LTD-CBDE offers another alternative for surgeons to treat patients in similar scenarios. However, additional randomized, controlled studies are needed to demonstrate its efficacy, safety, and impact on CBD stenosis.

A new isobenzoisofuran(1) has been isolated from the whole plant of Cassia pumila using various chromatographic techniques, including silica gel, Sephadex, MCI-gel resin, and RP-HPLC, and its structure was determined as 9-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2,2-dimethyl-2H-furo[3,4-g]chromen-6(8H)-one. This compound was also evaluated for its antibacterial activity. The results showed that it had prominent antibacterial activity with MIC_(90) value of(45.2±4.2) µg·mL~(-1) for methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA) strain. This value was closed to that of levofloxacin [with MIC_(90) value(48.5±4.3) µg·mL~(-1)].

A new flavone( 1) has been isolated from the whole plant of Cassia nomame by using various chromatographic techniques,including silica gel,Sephadex,MCI-gel resin,and RP-HPLC,and its structure was determined as 8,4'-dimethoxy-7-( 2-oxopropyl)-flavone based on spectroscopic data. The biological activity test showed that this compound displayed potent cytotoxicity against NB4,SH-SY5 Y,PC3,A549 and MCF-7 cell lines with IC50 values 2. 2,1. 8,3. 4,4. 5 and 1. 6 µmol·L-1,respectively.

A new isobenzofuranone derivative was isolated from Chaenomeles sinensis by using various chromatographic techniques,including silica gel,Sephadex LH-20,MCI-gel resin and RP-HPLC. This compound was determined as 2,2-dimethyl-5-( 2-oxopropyl)-2 H-furo[3,4-h]chromen-7( 9 H)-one( 1) by NMR,MS,IR and UV spectra,and was also evaluated for its antibacterial activity. The results showed that it showed prominent antibacterial activity with MIC90 value of( 53. 7±4. 5) mg·L-1 for methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus( MRSA) strain. This value is close to that of levofloxacin [with MIC90 value( 50. 2± 4. 2) mg·L-1].

Although the preparation of single-handed helical inorganic and hybrid organic-inorganic nanotubes is well developed, approaches to the formation of single-handed organopolymeric nanotubes are limited. Here, left-handed helical m-phenylenediamine-formaldehyde resin and 3-aminophenol-formaldehyde resin nanotubes were prepared by using N-palmitoyl glucosamine that can self-assemble into left-handed twisted nanoribbons in a mixture of methanol and water. In the reaction mixture, the helical pitch of the nanoribbons decreased with increasing reaction time. The resin nanotubes were obtained after removing the N-palmitoyl glucosamine template, and circular dichroism spectroscopy indicated that the organopolymeric nanotubes had optical activity. Carbonaceous nanotubes were then prepared by carbonization of the 3-aminophenol-formaldehyde resin nanotubes.

A novel homochiral zeolite-like metal-organic framework (ZMOF), [(Cu4I4) (dabco)2]·[Cu2(bbimb)]·3DMF (JLU-Liu23, dabco =1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]-octane, H2bbimb =1,3-bis(2-benzimidazol)benzene, DMF = N,N-dimethylformamide), has been successfully constructed to host unprecedented DNA-like [Cu2(bbimb)]n polymers with double-helicity. The host-guest chirality interplay permitted the induced formation of an unusual gyroid MOF with homochirality and helical channels in the framework for the first time, JLU-Liu23. Importantly, the enantiomeric pairs (23P, 23M) can be promoted and isolated in the presence of appropriate chiral inducing agents, affording enantioselective separation of chiral molecules as well as small gas molecules.

BACKGROUND: Acute kidney injury (AKI) has become a worldwide public health problem, but little information is available about the disease burden in China. We aimed to evaluate the burden of AKI and assess the availability of diagnosis and treatment in China. METHODS: We launched a nationwide, cross-sectional survey of adult patients who were admitted to hospital in 2013 in academic or local hospitals from 22 provinces in mainland China. Patients with suspected AKI were screened out on the basis of changes in serum creatinine by the Laboratory Information System, and we reviewed medical records for 2 months (January and July) to confirm diagnoses. We assessed rates of AKI according to two identification criteria: the 2012 Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) AKI definition and an increase or decrease in serum creatinine by 50% during hospital stay (expanded criteria). We estimated national rates with data from the 2013 report by the Chinese National Health and Family Planning Commission and National Bureau of Statistics. FINDINGS: Of 2,223,230 patients admitted to the 44 hospitals screened in 2013, 154,950 (7·0%) were suspected of having AKI by electronic screening, of whom 26,086 patients (from 374,286 total admissions) were reviewed with medical records to confirm the diagnosis of AKI. The detection rate of AKI was 0·99% (3687 of 374,286) by KDIGO criteria and 2·03% (7604 of 374,286) by expanded criteria, from which we estimate that 1·4-2·9 million people with AKI were admitted to hospital in China in 2013. The non-recognition rate of AKI was 74·2% (5608 of 7555 with available data). Renal referral was done in 21·4% (1625 of 7604) of the AKI cases, and renal replacement therapy was done in 59·3% (531 of 896) of those who had the indications. Delayed AKI recognition was an independent risk factor for in-hospital mortality, and renal referral was an independent protective factor for AKI under-recognition and mortality INTERPRETATION: AKI has become a huge medical burden in China, with substantial underdiagnosis and undertreatment. Nephrologists should take the responsibility for leading the battle against AKI. In radial basis function neural network (RBFNN)-based real-time learning tasks, forgetting mechanisms are widely used such that the neural network can keep its sensitivity to new data. However, with forgetting mechanisms, some useful knowledge will get lost simply because they are learned a long time ago, which we refer to as the passive knowledge forgetting phenomenon. To address this problem, this article proposes a real-time training method named selective memory recursive least squares (SMRLS) in which the classical forgetting mechanisms are recast into a memory mechanism. Different from the forgetting mechanism, which mainly evaluates the importance of samples according to the time when samples are collected, the memory mechanism evaluates the importance of samples through both temporal and spatial distribution of samples. With SMRLS, the input space of the RBFNN is evenly divided into a finite number of partitions, and a synthesized objective function is developed using synthesized samples from each partition. In addition to the current approximation error, the neural network also updates its weights according to the recorded data from the partition being visited. Compared with classical training methods including the forgetting factor recursive least squares (FFRLS) and stochastic gradient descent (SGD) methods, SMRLS achieves improved learning speed and generalization capability, which are demonstrated by corresponding simulation results.

Na4Fe3(PO4)2P2O7/C (NFPP) is a promising cathode material for sodium-ion batteries, but its electrochemical performance is heavily impeded by its low electronic conductivity. To address this, pure-phase Mo6+-doped Na4Fe3-xMox(PO4)2P2O7/C (Mox-NFPP, x = 0, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15) with the Pn21a space group is successfully synthesized through spray drying and annealing methods. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that Mo6+ doping facilitates the transition of electrons from the valence to the conduction band, thus enhancing the intrinsic electron conductivity of Mox-NFPP. With an optimal Mo6+ doping level of x = 0.10, Mo0.10-NFPP exhibits lower charge transfer resistance, higher sodium-ion diffusion coefficients, and superior rate performance. As a result, the Mo0.10-NFPP cathode offers an initial discharge capacity of up to 123.9 mAh g-1 at 0.1 C, nearly reaching its theoretical capacity. Even at a high rate of 10 C, it delivers a high discharge capacity of 86.09 mAh g-1, maintaining 96.18% of its capacity after 500 cycles. This research presents a new and straightforward strategy to enhance the electrochemical performance of NFPP cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries.

Simultaneously enhancing the quantum yields and luminescence lifetimes of organic persistent room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) molecules is a priority in the organic photonic area, but it remains a formidable challenge. Here, an effective strategy was proposed to improve both quantum efficiencies and emission decay times for phosphorescent triphenylphosphine salts. This approach involves integrating an electron donor unit into a triphenylphosphine salt via an alkyl chain. This structure facilitates an intermediate through-space charge transfer excited state, which enhances the intersystem crossing process to boost RTP performance. Moreover, the electron donor moiety contributes additional triplet excitons to the triphenylphosphine salts through triplet-to-triplet energy transfer, substantially increasing the population of triplet excitons. Specifically, compared to butyl(naphthalen-1-yl) diphenylphosphonium bromide (Φphos. = 4.9% and τ = 255.79 ms), (2-(9H-carbazol-9-yl)ethyl)(naphthalen-1-yl)diphenylphosphonium bromide demonstrates a higher phosphorescence quantum yield of 19.6% and an extended emission lifetime of 800.59 ms. This advancement lays the groundwork for developing high-performance organic RTP materials, unlocking new possibilities for advanced photonic applications.

To investigate the effects of fertilization methods and types on wheat rhizosphere microorganisms, macroelement (N, K) and microelement (Zn) fertilizers were applied on wheat by foliar spraying (FS) and root irrigation (RI) methods in a field experiment. The results indicated that fertilization methods and types can have significant impacts on the diversity and structure of rhizospheric microorganisms in wheat. The application method produced more significant effects than the fertilizer type. RI-N played a more important role in improving the wheat yield and quality and affected the changes in some nitrogen-fixing bacterial communities. Finally, eight strains of bacteria belonging to Pseudomonas azotoformans and P. cedrina showed positive effects on the growth of wheat seedlings. Overall, our study provides a better understanding of the dynamics of wheat rhizosphere microbial communities and their relation to fertilization, yield, and quality, showing that plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria with nitrogen fixing may be a potential approach for more sustainable agriculture production.

Long-lived room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) of organic materials holds a significant potential for optical information. Circularly polarized organic ultralong room-temperature phosphorescence (CP-OURTP) with extremely high dissymmetry factor (glum ) values is even highly demanded and considerably challenging. Here, an effective strategy is introduced to realize CP-OURTP with an emission decay time of 735 ms and a glum value up to 1.49, which exceeds two orders of magnitude larger than previous records, through a system composed of RTP polymers and chiral helical superstructures. The system exhibits excellent stability under multiple cycles of photoirradiation and thermal treatment, and is further employed for information encryption based on optical multiplexing. The results are anticipated to lay the foundation for the development of CP-OURTP materials in advanced photonic applications.

Nutrients are important for growth and development of plants and microbes, and they are also important factors in plant disease control. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of a rock dust used as a fertilizer in maintaining health of soil and tomato plants under greenhouse conditions. Four treatments-including M (commercial organic fertilizer), A (rock dust soil amendment), M + A (commercial organic fertilizer + rock dust soil amendment) and CK (blank control)--were examined for their effect on soil properties, soil enzymatic activity, plant growth and control efficacy against tomato bacterial wilt. Treatments A and M + A were significantly better than other treatments in changing soil pH, increasing it from acidic (pH 5.13) to nearly neutral (pH 6.81 and 6.70, respectively). Enzymatic activities in soil were notably influenced by the different treatments--particularly treatment M + A, which increased the activities of alkaline phosphatase, urease, catalase and sucrase to a greater extent in soil. There was no significant difference (P < 0.05) in the effects of treatments A and M + A on tomato plant height, stem diameter and biomass. The effect of the four treatments on the chlorophyll content and photosynthetic rate (in decreasing order) were M + A, A, M and CK. The replicate greenhouse experiments showed that the control efficacies of treatments M + A, A, and M against bacterial wilt were respectively 89.99, 81.11 and 8.89 % in first experiment and with the efficacies of 84.55, 74.36, and 13.49 % in the replicate; indicating that rock dust played a key role in the plant-soil interaction. The raised soil pH and Ca content were the key factors for the rock dust amendment controlling bacterial wilt under greenhouse conditions.

The mixed-ligand metal-organic complex poly[(µ(3)-phthalato)[µ(2)-3-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-pyrazol-1-ido]dicopper(II)], [Cu(2)(C(8)H(4)O(4))(C(8)H(6)N(3))(2)](n), has been synthesized by the reaction of copper(II) acetate with 2-(1H-pyrazol-3-yl)pyridine (HL) and phthalic acid. The binuclear chelating-bridging L units are further linked by bridging phthalate ligands into a two-dimensional network parallel to the (010) plane. The two-dimensional networks are extended into a three-dimensional supramolecular architecture via π-π stacking interactions.
