Despite their limited vagility and pronounced habitat heterogeneity in the tropics, many anuran species have unexpectedly extensive geographic ranges. One prominent example of this phenomenon is Pithecopus hypochondrialis, which is found in the Cerrado, Guianan savanna, and Llanos domains, as well as isolated tracts of savanna and open habitat within the Amazon Forest. The present study employs an integrative species delimitation approach to test the hypothesis that P. hypochondrialis is in fact a species complex. We also reconstruct the relationships among the lineages delimited here and other Pithecopus species. In this study, we employ Ecological Niche Modelling (ENM) and spatiotemporal phylogeographic reconstruction approaches to evaluate a multitude of scenarios of connectivity across the Neotropical savannas. We identified three divergent lineages, two of which have been described previously. The lineages were allocated to a lowland Pithecopus clade, although the relationships among these lineages are weakly supported. Both the ENM and the phylogeographic reconstruction highlight the occurrence of periods of connectivity among the Neotropical savannas over the course of the Pliocene and Pleistocene epochs. These processes extended from eastern Amazonia to the northern coast of Brazil. The findings of the present study highlight the presence of hidden diversity within P. hypochondrialis, and reinforce the need for a comprehensive taxonomic review. These findings also indicate intricate and highly dynamic patterns of connectivity across the Neotropical savannas that date back to the Pliocene.

The endocannabinoid system interacts with the reward system to modulate responsiveness to natural reinforcers, as well as drugs of abuse. Previous preclinical studies suggested that direct blockade of CB1 cannabinoid receptors (CB1R) could be leveraged as a potential pharmacological approach to treat substance use disorder, but this strategy failed during clinical trials due to severe psychiatric side effects. Alternative strategies have emerged to circumvent the side effects of direct CB1 binding through the development of allosteric modulators. We hypothesized that negative allosteric modulation of CB1R signalling would reduce the reinforcing properties of morphine and decrease behaviours associated with opioid misuse. By employing intravenous self-administration in mice, we studied the effects of GAT358, a functionally-biased CB1R negative allosteric modulator (NAM), on morphine intake, relapse-like behaviour and motivation to work for morphine infusions. GAT358 reduced morphine infusion intake during the maintenance phase of morphine self-administration under a fixed ratio 1 schedule of reinforcement. GAT358 also decreased morphine-seeking behaviour after forced abstinence. Moreover, GAT358 dose dependently decreased the motivation to obtain morphine infusions under a progressive ratio schedule of reinforcement. Strikingly, GAT358 did not affect the motivation to work for food rewards in an identical progressive ratio task, suggesting that the effect of GAT358 in decreasing opioid self-administration was reward specific. Furthermore, GAT58 did not produce motor ataxia in the rotarod test. Our results suggest that CB1R NAMs reduced the reinforcing properties of morphine and could represent a viable therapeutic route to safely decrease misuse of opioids.

BACKGROUND: Specific guidelines to manage caesarean delivery anaesthesia are lacking. A European multicentre study, ACCESS investigates caesarean delivery anaesthesia management in European centres. In order to identify ACCESS participating centres, a registration survey was created. OBJECTIVE: The aim of the current report is to describe the characteristics of ACCESS study participating centres, the rationale for the ACCESS study and the study methodology. DESIGN AND SETTING: The ACCESS study is a European multicentre cross-sectional study to describe anaesthesia management for caesarean delivery (CD) using a snapshot (2-week) design. The ACCESS registration survey gathered: contact details for National Coordinators (NC); Lead Investigators (LI) per centre; centre annual CD volume; expected no. of CD during 2-week snapshot window; centre practice information; data collection language. The ACCESS registration survey was launched July 2022 (Google Forms, Google Inc., Mountain View, CA, USA) and distributed through personal connections, national and international societies, social media networks, during Euroanaesthesia 2023, through the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care newsletter. RESULTS: The ACCESS registration survey identified Lead Investigators for 418 centres, in 32 countries, representing an anticipated number of 15,073 CD cases over the planned 12-month study period. A median (range) of 20 (2 to 400) CD cases are anticipated per centre during the 2-week snapshot window. Most 366/418 (87.6%) centres are small, ≤2000 annual CD cases, 42 are medium 2000-5000 cases and 10 are large, ≥5000 annual CD cases. Registered centres reported in 134 (32.0%) centres that anaesthesia for caesarean delivery is performed mostly by a specialist obstetric anaesthesiologist. CONCLUSION: The ACCESS registration survey revealed variability in volume and CD practice as well as training-levels and staffing among European countries. The ACCESS study (https://www.access-study.org/) aims to generate practice data to guide CD anaesthetic management strategies.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infected millions of people worldwide, with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) being the most common severe condition of pulmonary involvement. Despite its involvement in the lungs, SARS-CoV-2 causes multiple extrapulmonary manifestations, including manifestations in the musculoskeletal system. Several cases involving bone, joint, muscle, neurovascular and soft tissues were reported shortly after pandemic onset. Even after the acute infection has resolved, many patients experience persistent symptoms and a decrease in quality of life, a condition known as post-COVID syndrome or long COVID. COVID-19 vaccines have been widely available since December 2020, preventing millions of deaths during the pandemic. However, adverse reactions, including those involving the musculoskeletal system, have been reported in the literature. Therefore, the primary goal of this article is to review the main imaging findings of SARS-CoV-2 involvement in the musculoskeletal system, including acute, subacute, chronic and postvaccination manifestations.

Atraumatic muscle disorders comprise a very wide range of skeletal muscle diseases, including metabolic, inflammatory, autoimmune, infectious, ischemic, and neoplastic involvement of the muscles. Therefore, one must take clinical and laboratory data into consideration to elucidate the differential diagnoses, as well as the distribution of the muscle compromise along the body-whether isolated or distributed along the body in a symmetric or asymmetrical fashion. Assessment of muscular disorders often requires imaging investigation before image-guided biopsy or more invasive procedures; therefore, radiologists should understand the advantages and limitations of imaging methods for proper lesion evaluation and be aware of the imaging features of such disorders, thus contributing to proper decision-making and good patient outcomes. In this review, we propose a systematic approach for the assessment of muscle disorders based on their main imaging presentation, dividing them into patterns that can be easily recognized.

Background: The average length of stay is often used to indicate health system efficiency; shorter stays are associated with reduced costs. In South Africa, mental healthcare expenditure is spent on inpatient care. Aim: To identify factors associated with a long stay in an acute psychiatric unit. Setting: A tertiary hospital. Methods: A case-control study review of inpatients diagnosed with psychotic symptoms was used. Sample was divided into two groups, length of stay (LOS) (LOS greater than 21 days, LOS less than 14 days). Total of 82 patients were divided into short stay group (SSG, n = 23) and long stay group (LSG) (n = 59). A comparison of demographic, clinical and system variables was conducted. Results: In demographics, LSG had fewer men compared to SSG (78.3%) and differed statistically from LSG with p = 0.05. Long stay groups were older in comparison to SSG with a p = 0.02. Illicit substance use in LSG was 44.1% and statistically less than SSG (73.91%; p = 0.02). A high proportion of LSG had medical or surgical and psychiatric comorbidities (67.8%) compared to SSG (43.5%) (p = 0.04). A total of 95% patients in SSG had family support. Conclusion: Longer stay was found to be associated with older females with primary psychotic disorders. Comorbidities with less availability of family support were associated with younger males presenting with psychotic symptoms that may be related to illicit substances that respond to rapid stabilisation. Contribution: Active surveillance of medical comorbidities amongst older female patients is necessary for early liaison services to reduce their length of stay.

Membrane coat proteins are essential players in the eukaryotic endomembrane traffic system. Previous work identified proteins with the membrane-coat architecture in prokaryotes, specifically in the Planctomycetes, Verrucomicrobia and Chlamydiae (PVC) superphylum, bacteria that display the most developed prokaryotic endomembrane system. Hence, the membrane coat-like (MCL) proteins are predicted to play a central role in this system but their actual function is still unknown. In this work we strengthened previous structure predictions for these prokaryotic MCL proteins. We also detected new putative MCL proteins in the Planctomycete Gemmata obscuriglobus. Structural analysis of these revealed the presence of additional domains apart from the ß-propeller and α-solenoid combination, characteristic of the membrane-coat architecture. Functions associated with these domains include some related to carbohydrate or membrane/lipid binding. Using homology-based methods, we found MCL proteins in other bacterial phyla, but the most abundant hits are still restricted to Planctomycetes and Verrucomicrobia. Detailed inspection of neighbouring genes of MCL in G. obscuriglobus supports the idea that the function of these proteins is related to membrane manipulation. No significant hits were found in Archaea, including Asgard archaea. More than 10 years after their original detection, PVC bacteria are still uniquely linked to eukaryotes through the structure of the MCL proteins sustaining their endomembrane system.

INTRODUCTION: Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is the most clinically relevant infectious agent following heart transplantation (HTX). Data on the beneficial effects of prophylactic use of CMV immunoglobulins (CMVIG) are scarce. METHODS: In this single-center, retrospective study, we reported patient outcomes following cardiac transplantation using prophylactic CMV treatment, including CMVIG. Distinct clinically relevant outcomes were compared across different CMV risk groups (CMV D-/R-, CMV D-/R+, CMV D+/R+, and CMV D+/R- or CMV high risk group). RESULTS: We included 272 heart transplant procedures, performed between 1/1/2009 and 1/11/2020. Sixty-one (22%) procedures belonged to the CMV high risk group, while 96 (35%), 50 (18%), and 65 (24%) were CMV D-/R-, CMV D-/R+, and CMV D+/R+, respectively. Baseline donor and recipient characteristics (sex, age, body mass index, cause of death, indication for HTX), ischemia times and baseline immunosuppressive regimens were similar across the different CMV risk groups, yet fewer patients were bridged with a mechanical circulatory support in the CMV D+/R- group. CMV disease following cardiac transplantation was more common in the CMV D+/R- risk group (n = 40 or 66.7%; p < .001), yet mortality and re-transplantation rates, cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV) severity, rejection episodes, and development of donor-specific antibodies (DSA), post-transplant lymphoproliferative diseases (PTLD), and EBV infections were similar across all four CMV risk groups. CONCLUSION: High risk CMV D+/R- patients had a similar survival compared to low and intermediate CMV risk groups using a prophylactic strategy combining CMVIG and viral DNA polymerase inhibitors. This may be related to a number of factors unrelated to prophylaxis strategy as two out of three CMV D+/R- recipients developed CMV primary infection after prophylaxis was discontinued.

BACKGROUND: Cognitive functioning is an important dimension among the elderly. Cognitive maintenance is vital for aging due to its association with autonomy and independence. Considering the importance of preventive programs in older adults' health, this study aims to share an intervention protocol of a falls prevention program for community-dwelling faller older adults with cognitive impairment. METHODS: This is the protocol of an experimental and longitudinal study, consisting of cognitive stimulation associated with physical exercise in a 16-week fall prevention program. For cognitive intervention, the APG Cognitive Training Protocol will be used. Participants will be assessed pre-and post-intervention and will be randomly allocated to experimental or control groups. The screening protocol is composed of the TUG, FES-I, LAWTON & BRODY, ACE-R, GAI and fall survey instruments, focusing on the assessment of balance and mobility, fear of falling, performance on IADL, cognitive and anxiety tracking, respectively. DISCUSSION: This study can determine the long-term effects of multimodal cognitive training, providing evidence for its replication in the provision of care for the elderly. The objective is to promote improvements in the cognitive performance, mobility and balance of the elderly, with a focus on reducing the number of falls, fractures, hospitalizations and institutionalization, serving as an alternative to interrupt the cycle of falls. TRIAL REGISTRATION: The research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee with Human Beings at the Federal University of São Carlos, CAAE: 3654240.9.0000.5504 and Brazilian Registry of Clinical Trials (REBEC) RBR-3t85fd, registered on the 25th of September, 2020.

Chagas disease, also known as American trypanosomiasis, is a neglected tropical disease caused by the protozoa Trypanosoma cruzi, affecting nearly 7 million people only in the Americas. Polyamines are essential compounds for parasite growth, survival, and differentiation. However, because trypanosomatids are auxotrophic for polyamines, they must be obtained from the host by specific transporters. In this investigation, an ensemble of QSAR classifiers able to identify polyamine analogs with trypanocidal activity was developed. Then, a multi-template homology model of the dimeric polyamine transporter of T. cruzi, TcPAT12, was created with Rosetta, and then refined by enhanced sampling molecular dynamics simulations. Using representative snapshots extracted from the trajectory, a docking model able to discriminate between active and inactive compounds was developed and validated. Both models were applied in a parallel virtual screening campaign to repurpose known drugs as anti-trypanosomal compounds inhibiting polyamine transport in T. cruzi. Montelukast, Quinestrol, Danazol, and Dutasteride were selected for in vitro testing, and all of them inhibited putrescine uptake in biochemical assays, confirming the predictive ability of the computational models. Furthermore, all the confirmed hits proved to inhibit epimastigote proliferation, and Quinestrol and Danazol were able to inhibit, in the low micromolar range, the viability of trypomastigotes and the intracellular growth of amastigotes.

The Southern Ocean greatly contributes to the regulation of the global climate by controlling important heat and carbon exchanges between the atmosphere and the ocean. Rates of climate change on decadal timescales are therefore impacted by oceanic processes taking place in the Southern Ocean, yet too little is known about these processes. Limitations come both from the lack of observations in this extreme environment and its inherent sensitivity to intermittent processes at scales that are not well captured in current Earth system models. The Southern Ocean Carbon and Heat Impact on Climate programme was launched to address this knowledge gap, with the overall objective to understand and quantify variability of heat and carbon budgets in the Southern Ocean through an investigation of the key physical processes controlling exchanges between the atmosphere, ocean and sea ice using a combination of observational and modelling approaches. Here, we provide a brief overview of the programme, as well as a summary of some of the scientific progress achieved during its first half. Advances range from new evidence of the importance of specific processes in Southern Ocean ventilation rate (e.g. storm-induced turbulence, sea-ice meltwater fronts, wind-induced gyre circulation, dense shelf water formation and abyssal mixing) to refined descriptions of the physical changes currently ongoing in the Southern Ocean and of their link with global climate. Neutron diffraction with empirical potential structure refinement (EPSR) show the deep eutectic solvent (DES) 1 : 4 choline chloride : butyric acid is amphiphilically nanostructured. Nanostructure results from solvophobic interactions between the alkyl chains of the butyric acid hydrogen bond donor (HBD) and is retained with addition of 10 wt% water. EPSR fits to the diffraction data is used to produce a three-dimensional model of the liquid which is interrogated to reveal the interactions leading to the solvophobic effect, and therefore nanostructure, in this DES at atomic resolution. The model shows electrostatic and hydrogen bond interactions cause the cation, anion and HBD acid group to cluster into a polar domain, from which the acid alkyl chains are solvophobically excluded into theapolar domain. The polar and apolar domains percolate through the liquid in a bicontinuous sponge-like structure. The effect of adding 10 wt% water is probed, revealing that water molecules are sequestered around the cation and anion within the polar domain, while the neat bulk structure is retained. Alkyl chain packing in the apolar domain becomes slightly better-defined indicating water marginally strengthens solvophobic segregation. These findings reveal bulk self-assembled nanostructure can be produced in DESs via an amphiphilic HBD.

Up to 1% of pregnant women undergo anaesthesia for non-obstetric surgery. This study investigated neurodevelopmental outcomes after prenatal anaesthesia for maternal surgery. A bidirectional cohort study of children born between 2001 and 2018 was performed: neurodevelopmental outcomes of children who had received prenatal anaesthesia for maternal surgery were prospectively compared with unexposed children, with exposure status being assessed retrospectively. Children exposed to anaesthesia for obstetric and fetal surgery were excluded. The primary outcome was the global executive composite of the behaviour rating inventory of executive function score. Our secondary outcomes were: total problems; internalising problems and externalising problems derived from the child behaviour checklist; psychiatric diagnoses; and learning disorders. In 90% of exposed children, there was a single mean (SD) antenatal anaesthesia exposure lasting 91(94) min. There was a broad spectrum of indications, with abdominal surgery being most frequent. Parents of 129 exposed (response rate 68%) and 453 unexposed (response rate 63%) children participated. There were no arguments for non-response bias. After propensity weighting, there were no statistically significant differences in primary outcome, with a weighted mean difference (95%CI) of exposed minus unexposed children of 1.9 (-0.4-4.2), p = 0.10; or any of the secondary outcomes. Sensitivity analyses confirmed the robustness. Exploratory analyses, however, showed significant differences in certain subgroups for the primary outcome, (e.g. for intra-abdominal surgery, exposure duration > 1 h) and some cognitive subdomains (e.g. working memory and attention). This bidirectional cohort study, the largest investigation on the subject to date, has found no evidence in the general population for an association between prenatal exposure to anaesthesia and impaired neurodevelopmental outcomes.

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study is to establish the prevalence bone marrow edema of the phalanges of the feet and hands before and during the COVID-19 pandemic on MRI studies and correlate with clinically chilblain skin lesions and epidemiological data. METHODS: This observational retrospective study. In patients with confirmed bone marrow edema of the phalanges, epidemiological data and clinical findings were collected, including the history of current or remote COVID-19 infection and vaccination status. The two-proportion test was used to compare the frequency of bone marrow edema in the phalanges before and during the pandemic, and the comparison between the categories variables was performed using the one-proportion test. RESULTS: Of the total of 7215 patients, only 20 presented isolated bone marrow edema of the digits in MRI studies; 2 (0.05%) were found two years before the pandemic's beginning, and 18 (0.64%) after the pandemic's onset, demonstrating an increase of 13-fold in this period. 16 were women with a mean age of 40.3 years and 4 were men with a mean age of 53.5 years. The most frequently reported clinical symptoms by the patients were pain (85.0%), and erythema of the skin (45.0%). Of the 18 patients found after the pandemic's onset, only 27.8% had COVID-19 infections confirmed by RT-PCR before the imaging study, and all cases were mild. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrated a significant increase in the prevalence of bone marrow edema of the phalanges after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in middle-aged and younger women.

Toxoplasmosis is a worldwide zoonosis caused by the protozoan parasite Toxoplasma gondii. Although this infection is generally asymptomatic in immunocompetent individuals, it can cause serious clinical manifestations in newborns with congenital infection or in immunocompromised patients. As current treatments are not always well tolerated, there is an urgent need to find new drugs against human toxoplasmosis. Drug repurposing has gained considerable momentum in the last decade and is a particularly attractive approach for the search of therapeutic alternatives to treat rare and neglected diseases. Thus, in this study, we investigated the antiproliferative effect of several repurposed drugs. Of these, clofazimine and triclabendazole displayed a higher selectivity against T. gondii, affecting its replication. Furthermore, both compounds inhibited spermine incorporation into the parasite, which is necessary for the formation of other polyamines. The data reported here indicate that clofazimine and triclabendazole could be used for the treatment of human toxoplasmosis and confirms that drug repurposing is an excellent strategy to find new therapeutic targets of intervention.

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) are a public health burden rising in developed and developing nations. The World Health Organization estimates nearly 374 million new cases of curable STIs yearly. Global efforts to control their spread have been insufficient in fulfilling their objective. As there is no vaccine for many of these infections, these efforts are focused on education and condom distribution. The development of vaccines for STIs is vital for successfully halting their spread. The field of immunoinformatics is a powerful new tool for vaccine development, allowing for the identification of vaccine candidates within a bacterium's genome and allowing for the design of new genome-based vaccine peptides. The goal of this review was to evaluate the usage of immunoinformatics in research focused on non-viral STIs, identifying fields where research efforts are concentrated. Here we describe gaps in applying these techniques, as in the case of Treponema pallidum and Trichomonas vaginalis.

Non-viral delivery is an important strategy for selective and efficient gene therapy, immunization, and RNA interference, which overcomes problems of genotoxicity and inherent immunogenicity associated with viral vectors. Liposomes and polymers are compelling candidates as carriers for intracellular, non-viral delivery, but maximal efficiencies of around 1% have been reported for the most advanced non-viral carriers. Here, we develop a library of dendronized bottlebrush polymers with controlled defects, displaying a level of precision surpassed only by biological molecules like DNA, RNA, and proteins. We test concurrent and competitive delivery of DNA and show for the first time that, while intracellular communication is thought to be an exclusively biomolecular phenomenon, such communication between synthetic macromolecular complexes can also take place. Our findings challenge the assumption that delivery agents behave as bystanders that enable transfection by passive intracellular release of genetic cargo and improve upon coarse strategies in intracellular carrier design lacking control over polymer sequence, architecture, and composition, leading to a hit-or-miss outcome. Understanding the communication that takes place between macromolecules will help improve the design of non-viral delivery agents and facilitate translation of genome engineering, vaccines, and nucleic acid-based therapies.

AbstractThe remarkable evolutionary success of placental mammals has been partly attributed to their reproductive strategy of prolonged gestation and birthing of relatively precocial, quickly weaned neonates. Although this strategy was conventionally considered derived relative to that of marsupials with highly altricial neonates and long lactation periods, mounting evidence has challenged this view. Until now the fossil record has been relatively silent on this debate, but here we find that proportions of different bone tissue microstructures in the femoral cortices of small extant marsupials and placentals correlate with length of lactation period, allowing us to apply this histological correlate of reproductive strategies to Late Cretaceous and Paleocene members of Multituberculata, an extinct mammalian clade that is phylogenetically stemward of Theria. Multituberculate bone histology closely resembles that of placentals, suggesting that they had similar life history strategies. A stem-therian clade exhibiting evidence of placental-like life histories supports the hypothesis that intense maternal-fetal contact characteristic of placentals is ancestral for therians. Alternatively, multituberculates and placentals may have independently evolved prolonged gestation and abbreviated lactation periods. Our results challenge the hypothesis that the rise of placental mammals was driven by unique life history innovations and shed new light on early mammalian diversification.

Human serum albumin (HSA) is the most abundant protein in human blood plasma. It plays a critical role in the native transportation of numerous drugs, metabolites, nutrients, and small molecules. HSA has been successfully used clinically as a noncovalent carrier for insulin (e.g., Levemir), GLP-1 (e.g., Liraglutide), and paclitaxel (e.g., Abraxane). Site-specific bioconjugation strategies for HSA only would greatly expand its role as the biocompatible, non-toxic platform for theranostics purposes. Using the enabling one-bead one-compound (OBOC) technology, we generated combinatorial peptide libraries containing myristic acid, a well-known binder to HSA at Sudlow I and II binding pockets, and an acrylamide. We then used HSA as a probe to screen the OBOC myristylated peptide libraries for reactive affinity elements (RAEs) that can specifically and covalently ligate to the lysine residue at the proximity of these pockets. Several RAEs have been identified and confirmed to be able to conjugate to HSA covalently. The conjugation can occur at physiological pH and proceed with a high yield within 1 h at room temperature. Tryptic peptide profiling of derivatized HSA has revealed two lysine residues (K225 and K414) as the conjugation sites, which is much more specific than the conventional lysine labeling strategy with N-hydroxysuccinimide ester. The RAE-driven site-specific ligation to HSA was found to occur even in the presence of other prevalent blood proteins such as immunoglobulin or whole serum. Furthermore, these RAEs are orthogonal to the maleimide-based conjugation strategy for Cys34 of HSA. Together, these attributes make the RAEs the promising leads to further develop in vitro and in vivo HSA bioconjugation strategies for numerous biomedical applications.

The clustering of small molecules implies the organization of a group of chemical structures into smaller subgroups with similar features. Clustering has important applications to sample chemical datasets or libraries in a representative manner (e.g., to choose, from a virtual screening hit list, a chemically diverse subset of compounds to be submitted to experimental confirmation, or to split datasets into representative training and validation sets when implementing machine learning models). Most strategies for clustering molecules are based on molecular fingerprints and hierarchical clustering algorithms. Here, two open-source in-house methodologies for clustering of small molecules are presented: iterative Random subspace Principal Component Analysis clustering (iRaPCA), an iterative approach based on feature bagging, dimensionality reduction, and K-means optimization; and Silhouette Optimized Molecular Clustering (SOMoC), which combines molecular fingerprints with the Uniform Manifold Approximation and Projection (UMAP) and Gaussian Mixture Model algorithm (GMM). In a benchmarking exercise, the performance of both clustering methods has been examined across 29 datasets containing between 100 and 5000 small molecules, comparing these results with those given by two other well-known clustering methods, Ward and Butina. iRaPCA and SOMoC consistently showed the best performance across these 29 datasets, both in terms of within-cluster and between-cluster distances. Both iRaPCA and SOMoC have been implemented as free Web Apps and standalone applications, to allow their use to a wide audience within the scientific community.
