RESUMO

Cerebral ischemic stroke and glioma are the two leading causes of patient mortality globally. Despite physiological variations, 1 in 10 people who have an ischemic stroke go on to develop brain cancer, most notably gliomas. In addition, glioma treatments have also been shown to increase the risk of ischemic strokes. Stroke occurs more frequently in cancer patients than in the general population, according to traditional literature. Unbelievably, these events share multiple pathways, but the precise mechanism underlying their co-occurrence remains unknown. Transcription factors (TFs), the main components of gene expression programmes, finally determine the fate of cells and homeostasis. Both ischemic stroke and glioma exhibit aberrant expression of a large number of TFs, which are strongly linked to the pathophysiology and progression of both diseases. The precise genomic binding locations of TFs and how TF binding ultimately relates to transcriptional regulation remain elusive despite a strong interest in understanding how TFs regulate gene expression in both stroke and glioma. As a result, the importance of continuing efforts to understand TF-mediated gene regulation is highlighted in this review, along with some of the primary shared events in stroke and glioma.

RESUMO

Stroke is a major contributor to mortality and impairment on a global scale, with few effective treatments available. Aberrant expression of various non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) has been identified after stroke onset, impacting neurogenesis, angiogenesis, apoptosis, and autophagy. The roles and mechanisms of ncRNAs hold great promise for future ischemic stroke treatments, as they could modify stroke impact and course on a well-controllable molecular level. Exploring the functions and underlying mechanisms of ncRNAs after stroke has the potential to unveil novel therapeutic targets for the treatment of stroke and may also pave the way toward novel and more precise diagnostic options for stroke and stroke outcomes. This review emphasizes the importance of ncRNAs in the treatment of stroke and their potential as therapeutic targets.

BACKGROUND: The halophilic bacterium Halomonas elongata is an industrially important strain for ectoine production, with high value and intense research focus. While existing studies primarily delve into the adaptive mechanisms of this bacterium under fixed salt concentrations, there is a notable dearth of attention regarding its response to fluctuating saline environments. Consequently, the stress response of H. elongata to salt shock remains inadequately understood. RESULTS: This study investigated the stress response mechanism of H. elongata when exposed to NaCl shock at short- and long-time scales. Results showed that NaCl shock induced two major stresses, namely osmotic stress and oxidative stress. In response to the former, within the cell's tolerable range (1-8% NaCl shock), H. elongata urgently balanced the surging osmotic pressure by uptaking sodium and potassium ions and augmenting intracellular amino acid pools, particularly glutamate and glutamine. However, ectoine content started to increase until 20 min post-shock, rapidly becoming the dominant osmoprotectant, and reaching the maximum productivity (1450 ± 99 mg/L/h). Transcriptomic data also confirmed the delayed response in ectoine biosynthesis, and we speculate that this might be attributed to an intracellular energy crisis caused by NaCl shock. In response to oxidative stress, transcription factor cysB was significantly upregulated, positively regulating the sulfur metabolism and cysteine biosynthesis. Furthermore, the upregulation of the crucial peroxidase gene (HELO_RS18165) and the simultaneous enhancement of peroxidase (POD) and catalase (CAT) activities collectively constitute the antioxidant defense in H. elongata following shock. When exceeding the tolerance threshold of H. elongata (1-13% NaCl shock), the sustained compromised energy status, resulting from the pronounced inhibition of the respiratory chain and ATP synthase, may be a crucial factor leading to the stagnation of both cell growth and ectoine biosynthesis. CONCLUSIONS: This study conducted a comprehensive analysis of H. elongata's stress response to NaCl shock at multiple scales. It extends the understanding of stress response of halophilic bacteria to NaCl shock and provides promising theoretical insights to guide future improvements in optimizing industrial ectoine production.

INTRODUCTION: The prevalence of hyperthyroidism in Pakistan is 2.9%, which is two times higher than in the United States. Most high-quality hyperthyroidism clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) used internationally originate from high-income countries in the West. Local CPGs in Pakistan are not backed by transparent methodologies. We aimed to produce comprehensive, high-quality CPGs for the management of hyperthyroidism in Pakistan. METHODS: We employed the GRADE-ADOLOPMENT approach utilizing the 2016 American Thyroid Association Guidelines for Diagnosis and Management of Hyperthyroidism and Other Causes of Thyrotoxicosis as the source CPG. Recommendations from the source guideline were either adopted as is, excluded, or adapted according to our local context. RESULTS: The source guideline included a total of 124 recommendations, out of which 71 were adopted and 49 were excluded. 4 recommendations were carried forward for adaptation via the ETD process, with modifications being made to 2 of these. The first addressed the need for liver function tests (LFTs) amongst patients experiencing symptoms of hepatotoxicity while being treated with anti-thyroid drugs (ATDs). The second pertained to thyroid status testing post-treatment by radioactive iodine (RAI) therapy for Graves' Disease (GD). Both adaptations centered around the judicious use of laboratory investigations to reduce costs of hyperthyroidism management. CONCLUSION: Our newly developed hyperthyroidism CPGs for Pakistan contain two context-specific modifications that prioritize patients' finances during the course of hyperthyroidism management and to limit the overuse of laboratory testing in a resource-constrained setting. Future research must investigate the cost-effectiveness and risk-benefit ratio of these modified recommendations.

Nano zero-valent (nZVI) based composite have been widely utilized in environmental remediation. However, the rapid agglomeration and quick deactivation of nZVI limited its application on large scale. In this work, CaCO3 supported nZVI-Ni catalyst, namely nZVI-Ni@CaCO3 was prepared and used for the efficient removal of trichloroethylene (TCE) in PS oxidation process. The successful disbursement of nZVI-Ni on CaCO3 support material not only increased the surface area of nZVI-Ni@CaCO3 (69.45 m2/g) with respect to CaCO3 (5.92 m2/g) and bare nZVI (13.29 m2/g) but also improved the catalytic activity. XRD, XPS and FTIR analysis confirmed the successful formation of nZVI-Ni@CaCO3 nanoparticles. The nZVI-Ni@CaCO3 nanoparticles combined with PS had achieved complete removal of TCE (99.8%) with dosage of 36 mg/L and 1.34 mM respectively. These results showed that the use of CaCO3 as support material for nZVI-Ni could have significant influence on contaminant removal process. Scavenging and EPR tests validated the existence of SO4•-, OH• and O2•- radicals in PS/nZVI-Ni@CaCO3 system and highlighted the dominant role of SO4•- radicals in TCE removal process. HCO3- ions and humic acid have shown adverse effect on TCE removal due to radical scavenging and buffering effect. Owing to improved catalytic activity and easy preparation, the nZVI-Ni@CaCO3 nanoparticles could be served as an alternative strategy for environmental remediation.

The semiconductor/insulator blends for organic field-effect transistors are a potential solution to improve the charge transport in the active layer by inducing phase separation in the blends. However, the technique is less investigated for long-chain conducting polymers such as Poly[2,5-(2-octyldodecyl)-3,6-diketopyrrolopyrrole-alt-5,5-(2,5-di(thien-2-yl)thieno [3,2-b]thiophene)] (DPPDTT), and lateral phase separation is generally reported due to the instability during solvent evaporation, which results in degraded device performance. Herein, we report how to tailor the dominant mechanism of phase separation in such blends and the molecular assembly of the polymer. For DPPDTT/PMMA blends, we found that for higher DPPDTT concentrations (more than 75%) where the vertical phase separation mechanism is dominant, PMMA assisted in the self-assembly of DPPDTT to form nanowires and micro-transport channels on top of PMMA. The formation of nanowires yielded 13 times higher mobility as compared to pristine devices. For blend ratios with DPPDTT ≤ 50%, both the competing mechanisms, vertical and lateral phase separation, are taking place. It resulted in somewhat lower charge carrier mobilities. Hence, our results show that by systematic tuning of the blend ratio, PMMA can act as an excellent binding material in long-chain polymers such as DPPDTT and produce vertically stratified and aligned structures to ensure high mobility devices.

BACKGROUND: Despite a large burden of life-limitingillness, there exists a dearth of services of palliative care in Pakistan. International guidelines have questionable applicability in Pakistan due to the socioeconomic differences. We generated a protocol describing the process of developing comprehensive palliative care guidelines and palliative care referral pathways for primary care practitioners to adopt in Pakistan. METHODS: A GRADE-ADOLOPMENT approach with modification has been employed to create guidelines for a Pakistani context. The "National Comprehensive Cancer Network Guidelines Insights: Palliative Care, Version 2.2021" was used as the source guideline. Recommendations from the source guideline were reviewed by two local palliative care specialists to either "Adopt," "Adapt" or "Exclude". The finalized recommendations were incorporated into the local palliative care guideline. Clinical diagnosis and referral pathways were made from the finalized guideline. Any gaps in management found in the pathways were filled by taking existing recommendations from other credible guidelines. RESULTS: Twenty-seven recommendations were adopted without modification. No recommendations were deemed to be adapted and 15 were excluded. The referral care pathways created were reflective of the local guideline and included elements of initial assessment, preliminary management, reassessment, and referral. 6 additional recommendations were made. CONCLUSION: The described clinical practice guidelines and primary care clinical referral pathways will aid to standardize palliative care provision in Pakistan. These can be used by other resource constrained settings to develop guidelines within their own local context.

Chlorogenic acids (CGAs) are bioactive compounds widely used in the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. Carthamus tinctorius is an important economic crop, and its suspension cells are rich in CGAs. However, little is known about the biosynthesis and regulation of CGAs in Carthamus tinctorius cells. This study first elucidated the regulatory mechanism of CGA biosynthesis in methyl jasmonate (MeJA)-treated Carthamus tinctorius cells and the role of the MeJA-responsive hydroxycinnamoyl transferase (HCT) gene in enhancing their CGA accumulation. Firstly, temporal changes in intracellular metabolites showed that MeJA increased the intracellular CGA content up to 1.61-fold to 100.23 mg·g-1. Meanwhile, 31 primary metabolites showed significant differences, with 6 precursors related to increasing CGA biosynthesis. Secondly, the transcriptome data revealed 3637 new genes previously unannotated in the Carthamus tinctorius genome and 3653 differentially expressed genes. The genes involved in the plant signaling pathway and the biosynthesis of CGAs and their precursors showed a general up-regulation, especially the HCT gene family, which ultimately promoted CGA biosynthesis. Thirdly, the expression of a newly annotated and MeJA-responsive HCT gene (CtHCT, CtNewGene_3476) was demonstrated to be positively correlated with CGA accumulation in the cells, and transient overexpression of CtHCT enhanced CGA accumulation in tobacco. Finally, in vitro catalysis kinetics and molecular docking simulations revealed the ability and mechanism of the CtHCT protein to bind to various substrates and catalyze the formation of four hydroxycinnamic esters, including CGAs. These findings strengthened our understanding of the regulatory mechanism of CGA biosynthesis, thereby providing theoretical support for the efficient production of CGAs.

OBJECTIVE: To measure and compare the serum levels of resistin and lipid profile parameters in primigravida females with and without preeclampsia. Methods: The analytical cross-sectional study was conducted at the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology, University of Health Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan, from 2018 to 2020, and comprised primigravida females having gestational age 30-36 weeks. Those with preeclampsia constituted group 1, while normotensive females constituted group 2. All the participants were subjected to detailed history and general physical examination. Serum resistin levels were measured by enzymelinked immunosorbent assay, and lipid profile parameters were measured using the colorimetric method. Data was analysed using SPSS 20. RESULTS: Of the 80 women, 40(50%) were in group 1 with mean age 23.07±2.10 years and mean gestation age 33.45±2.30 weeks. There were 40(50%) women in group 2 with mean age 23.02±2.11 years and mean gestational age 34.45±1.75 weeks. Mean serum resistin was significantly higher in group 1 compared to group 2 (p<0.02). Mean levels of lipid parameters were significantly different between the groups (p˂0.05). Conclusion: Preeclampsia was found to be associated with higher levels of resistin and lipid parameters compared to normal pregnancy.

Stem cell therapies have emerged as a promising treatment strategy for various diseases characterized by ischemic injury such as ischemic stroke. Cell survival after transplantation remains a critical issue. We investigated the impact of oxidative stress, being typically present in ischemically challenged tissue, on human dental pulp stem cells (hDPSC) and human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSC). We used oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD) to induce oxidative stress in hDPSC and hMSC. OGD-induced generation of O2•- or H2O2 enhanced autophagy by inducing the expression of activating molecule in BECN1-regulated autophagy protein 1 (Ambra1) and Beclin1 in both cell types. However, hDPSC and hMSC pre-conditioning using reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavengers significantly repressed the expression of Ambra1 and Beclin1 and inactivated autophagy. O2•- or H2O2 acted upstream of autophagy, and the mechanism was unidirectional. Furthermore, our findings revealed ROS-p38-Erk1/2 involvement. Pre-treatment with selective inhibitors of p38 and Erk1/2 pathways (SB202190 and PD98059) reversed OGD effects on the expression of Ambra1 and Beclin1, suggesting that these pathways induced oxidative stress-mediated autophagy. SIRT3 depletion was found to be associated with increased oxidative stress and activation of p38 and Erk1/2 MAPKs pathways. Global ROS inhibition by NAC or a combination of polyethylene glycol-superoxide dismutase (PEG-SOD) and polyethylene glycol-catalase (PEG-catalase) further confirmed that O2•- or H2O2 or a combination of both impacts stems cell viability by inducing autophagy. Furthermore, autophagy inhibition by 3-methyladenine (3-MA) significantly improved hDPSC viability. These findings contribute to a better understanding of post-transplantation hDPSC and hMSC death and may deduce strategies to minimize therapeutic cell loss under oxidative stress.

Carburization is a promising surface-hardening approach to maximize the tribological and mechanical properties of metals and alloys by making thin-layer surface carbides. The current study investigates the effect of carburizing on the electrodeposited Fe-W alloy coating. This process involeves the thermal decomposition of ethanol in an argon (Ar) atmosphere at varying temperatures. The amorphous electrodeposits of Fe-W alloy coating formed at optimized current density (500 A/cm2) are transformed to the uniform W-rich reinforced bimetallic carbide (Fe3W3C) layers at a carburizing temperature of 850 °C. The sample Fe-50WC (850 °C) shows enhanced hardness and highest wear resistance with a lowest specific wear rate (10-7 mm3/Nm) as compared to the as-electrodeposited Fe-W alloy and other Fe-W, Co-W, and hard chromium coatings reported in the literature. The present strategy can be applied to develop alternative, low cost, and environmentally friendly W-based composite coatings to replace the toxic chromium coatings.

Porcine circovirus type-2 capsid protein contains a major immunodominant epitope used as a subunit vaccine. Transient expression in mammalian cells is an efficient process for producing recombinant proteins. However, there is still a lack of research on the efficient production of virus capsid proteins in mammalian cells. Here we present a comprehensive study to investigate and optimize the production process of a model "difficult-to-express" virus capsid protein, PCV2 capsid protein in HEK293F transient expression system. The study evaluated the transient expression of PCV2 capsid protein in the mammalian cell line HEK293F and investigated the subcellular distribution by confocal microscopy. In addition, the RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) was used to detect the differential expression of genes after cells transfected with pEGFP-N1-Capsid or empty vectors. The analysis revealed that the PCV2 capsid gene affected a panel of differential genes of HEK293F cells involved in protein folding, stress response, and translation process, such as SHP90ß, GRP78, HSP47, and eIF4A. An integrated strategy of protein engineering combined with VPA addition was applied to promote the expression of PCV2 capsid protein in HEK293F. Moreover, this study significantly increased the production of the engineered PCV2 capsid protein in HEK293F cells, reaching a yield of 8.7 mg/L. Conclusively, this study may provide deep insight for other "difficult-to-express" virus capsid proteins in the mammalian cell system.

The disproportionate potency of dyes in textile wastewater is a global concern that needs to be contended. The present study comprehensively investigates the adsorption of Navy-Blue dye (NB) onto bentonite clay based geopolymer/Fe3O4 nanocomposite (GFC) using novel statistical and machine learning frameworks in the following steps; (1) synthesis and characterization of GFC, (2) experimental testing and modelling of NB adsorption onto GFC following Box-Behnken design and three response surface prediction models namely stepwise regression analysis (SRA), Support vector regression (SVR) and Kriging (KR), (3) parametric, sensitivity, thermodynamic and kinetic analysis of pH, GFC dose and contact time on adsorption performance, and (4) finding global parametric solution of the process using Latin Hypercube, Sobol and Taguchi orthogonal array sampling and combining SRA-SVR-KR predictions with novel hybrid simulated annealing (SA)-desirability function (DF) approach. Under the given testing range, parametric/sensitivity analysis revealed the critical role of pH over others accounting ∼37% relative effect and primarily derived the NB adsorption. The statistical evaluation of models revealed that all models could be utilized for elucidating and predicting the NB removal using GFC, however, SVR accuracy was better among others for this particular work, as the overall computed root mean squared error was only 0.55 while the error frequency counts remained <1 for 90% predictions. GFC showed 86.29% NB removal for the given experimental matrix which can be elevated to 96.25% under optimum conditions. The NB adsorption was found to be physical, spontaneous, favorable and obeyed pseudo-2nd order kinetics. The results demonstrate the suitability of GFC as the promising cost-effective and efficient alternative for the decolourization of urban and drinking water streams and elucidate the potential of machine learning models for accurate prediction & elevation of adsorption processes with less experimentation in water purification applications.

INTRODUCTION: In Pakistan, chronic respiratory conditions contribute a large burden of morbidity and mortality. A major reason for this is the lack of availability of local evidence-based clinical practice guidelines (EBCPGs) in Pakistan, particularly at the primary care level. Thus, we developed EBCPGs and created clinical diagnosis and referral pathways for the primary care management of chronic respiratory conditions in Pakistan. METHODS: The source guidelines were selected by two local expert pulmonologists after a thorough literature review on PubMed and Google Scholar from 2010 to December 2021. The source guidelines covered idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorders, and bronchiectasis. The GRADE-ADOLOPMENT process consists of three key elements: adoption (using recommendations as is or with minor changes), adaptation (effective context-specific changes to recommendations) or additions (including new recommendations to fill a gap in the EBCPG). We employed the GRADE-ADOLOPMENT process to adopt, adapt, adopt with minor changes, or exclude recommendations from a source guideline. Additional recommendations were added to the clinical pathways based on a best-evidence review process. RESULTS: 46 recommendations were excluded mainly due to the unavailability of recommended management in Pakistan and scope beyond the practice of general physicians. Clinical diagnosis and referral pathways were designed for the four chronic respiratory conditions, explicitly delineating the role of primary care practitioners in the diagnosis, basic management, and timely referral of patients. Across the four conditions, 18 recommendations were added (seven for IPF, three for bronchiectasis, four for COPD, and four for asthma). CONCLUSION: The widespread use of the newly created EBCPGs and clinical pathways in the primary healthcare system of Pakistan can help alleviate the morbidity and mortality related to chronic respiratory conditions disease in the country.

Background and Objectives: Juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) is an angiomatous hamartoma of the nasal cavity. It is a benign but locally aggressive vascular tumor of the nasopharynx affecting adolescent males. Many surgical procedures are in practice, but the extended endonasal endoscopic (EEE) approach for JNAs is a suitable and effective technique. Materials and Methods: Fifteen adolescent patients having JNA who underwent extended endonasal endoscopic (EEE) surgery from January 2010 to January 2022 were studied retrospectively. Patients having residual and recurrent JNAs and those who underwent surgery other than EEE were excluded. Results: The average age of the patients was 18.3 years of age. A total of six patients (40%) each had stage V and IV while three patients (20%) had stage III JNAs. Gross total removal was achieved in eight (53.3%) patients and seven (43.7%) had partial removal. There was no per or postoperative mortality. All the patients had at least 3 years of postoperative follow-up and during follow-ups, seven patients were found to have residual tumors, and two had recurrences. Discussion: During the last decades, the endoscopic approach for the resection of JNAs has gained increasing popularity due to its obvious advantages over transfacial approaches. The magnified and angled field of view "behind the corner" helping in a more complete inspection for the resection and shorter hospitalization time makes it a better choice than the other approaches. Conclusions: Endoscopy is an excellent approach for primary JNA. It allows well visualization and precise removal of the angiofibroma. An endoscopic multiangle, multicorridor skull base approach including Denker's anteromedial maxillotomy is suitable and preferable for the resection of extensive JNAs.

The "design-build-test-learn" (DBTL) cycle has been adopted in rational high-throughput screening to obtain high-yield industrial strains. However, the mismatch between build and test slows the DBTL cycle due to the lack of high-throughput analytical technologies. In this study, a highly efficient, accurate, and noninvasive detection method of gentamicin (GM) was developed, which can provide timely feedback for the high-throughput screening of high-yield strains. First, a self-made tool was established to obtain data sets in 24-well plates based on the color of the cells. Subsequently, the random forest (RF) algorithm was found to have the highest prediction accuracy with an R2 value of 0.98430 for the same batch. Finally, a stable genetically high-yield strain (998 U/mL) was successfully screened out from 3005 mutants, which was verified to improve the titer by 72.7% in a 5 L bioreactor. Moreover, the verified new data sets were updated on the model database in order to improve the learning ability of the DBTL cycle.

Currently, treating coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients, particularly those afflicted with severe pneumonia, is challenging, as no effective pharmacotherapy for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) exists. Severe pneumonia is recognized as a clinical syndrome characterized by hyper-induction of pro-inflammatory cytokine production, which can induce organ damage, followed by edema, dysfunction of air exchange, acute respiratory distress syndrome, acute cardiac injury, secondary infection and increased mortality. Owing to the immunoregulatory and differentiation potential of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), we aimed to outline current insights into the clinical application of MSCs in COVID-19 patients. Based on results from preliminary clinical investigations, it can be predicted that MSC therapy for patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 is safe and effective, although multiple clinical trials with a protracted follow-up will be necessary to determine the long-term effects of the treatment on COVID-19 patients.

Orange peel waste (OPW), a discarded part of orange fruit, is a rich source of essential constituents that can be transformed into highly value-added bioproducts. OPW is being generated in million tonnes globally and returns to the environment without complete benefit. Thus, a high volume of annually produced OPW in the industry requires effective valorization. In this regard, limited data is available that summarizes the broader spectrum for the sustainable fate of OPW to produce value-added bioproducts. The main objective of this treatise is to explore the sustainable production of bioproducts from OPW. Therefore, this review covers all the aspects of OPW, from its production to complete valorization. The review encompasses the extraction technologies employed for extracting different valuable bioactive compounds, such as: essential oil (EO), pectin, and carotenoids, from OPW. Furthermore, the suitability of bioconversion technologies (digestion/fermentation) in transforming OPW to other useful bioproducts, such as: biochemicals (lactic acid and succinic acid), biopolysaccharides (xanthan and curdlan gum), and bioenergy (biomethane and bioethanol) is discussed. Also, it includes the concept of OPW-based biorefineries and their development that shall play a definite role in future to cover demands for: food, chemicals, materials, fuels, power, and heat. Lastly, this review focuses on OPW-supplemented functional food products such as: beverages, yogurts, and extruded products. In conclusion, insights provided in this review maximize the potential of OPW for commercial purposes, leading to a safe, and waste-free environment.

BACKGROUND: Magnetic materials mediated by mechanical forces to combat cancer cells are currently attracting attention. Firstly, the magnetic force penetrates deeper into tissues than the NIR laser alone to destroy tumours. Secondly, the synergistic effect of nano-magnetic-material characteristics results in a viable option for the targeted killing of cancer cells. Therefore, mechanical force (MF) produced by magnetic nanomaterials under low frequency dynamic magnetic field combined with laser technology is the most effective, safe and efficient tool for killing cancer cells and tumour growth. RESULTS: In this study, we synthesized novel urchin-like hollow magnetic microspheres (UHMMs) composed of superparamagnetic Fe3O4. We demonstrated the excellent performance of UHMMs for killing laryngocarcinoma cancer cells through mechanical force and photothermal effects under a vibrating magnetic field and near-infrared laser, respectively. The killing efficiency was further improved after loading the synthesised UHMMs with Chlorin e6 relative to unloaded UHMMs. Additionally, in animal experiments, laryngocarcinoma solid tumour growth was effectively inhibited by UHMMs@Ce6 through magneto-mechanic force, photothermal and photodynamic therapy. CONCLUSIONS: The biocompatibility and high efficiency of multimodal integrated therapy with the UHMMs prepared in this work provide new insights for developing novel nano therapy and drug loading platforms for tumour treatment. In vivo experiments further demonstrated that UHMMs/Ce6 are excellent tools for strongly inhibiting tumour growth through the above-mentioned characteristic effects.

Traditional advertising techniques seek to govern the consumer's opinion toward a product, which may not reflect their actual behavior at the time of purchase. It is probable that advertisers misjudge consumer behavior because predicted opinions do not always correspond to consumers' actual purchase behaviors. Neuromarketing is the new paradigm of understanding customer buyer behavior and decision making, as well as the prediction of their gestures for product utilization through an unconscious process. Existing methods do not focus on effective preprocessing and classification techniques of electroencephalogram (EEG) signals, so in this study, an effective method for preprocessing and classification of EEG signals is proposed. The proposed method involves effective preprocessing of EEG signals by removing noise and a synthetic minority oversampling technique (SMOTE) to deal with the class imbalance problem. The dataset employed in this study is a publicly available neuromarketing dataset. Automated features were extracted by using a long short-term memory network (LSTM) and then concatenated with handcrafted features like power spectral density (PSD) and discrete wavelet transform (DWT) to create a complete feature set. The classification was done by using the proposed hybrid classifier that optimizes the weights of two machine learning classifiers and one deep learning classifier and classifies the data between like and dislike. The machine learning classifiers include the support vector machine (SVM), random forest (RF), and deep learning classifier (DNN). The proposed hybrid model outperforms other classifiers like RF, SVM, and DNN and achieves an accuracy of 96.89%. In the proposed method, accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, precision, and F1 score were computed to evaluate and compare the proposed method with recent state-of-the-art methods.
