DNA self-assembly allows the construction of nanometre-scale structures and devices. Structures with thousands of unique components are routinely assembled in good yield. Experimental progress has been rapid, based largely on empirical design rules. Herein, we demonstrate a DNA origami technique designed as a model system with which to explore the mechanism of assembly. The origami fold is controlled through single-stranded loops embedded in a double-stranded DNA template and is programmed by a set of double-stranded linkers that specify pairwise interactions between loop sequences. Assembly is via T-junctions formed by hybridization of single-stranded overhangs on the linkers with the loops. The sequence of loops on the template and the set of interaction rules embodied in the linkers can be reconfigured with ease. We show that a set of just two interaction rules can be used to assemble simple T-junction origami motifs and that assembly can be performed at room temperature.

The objective of this research is to analyze the influence of various factors on glycemic control in pediatrics with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). The study, a cross-sectional analysis, involved 221 T1DM patients below 18 years old who visited our clinic between 2011 and 2020, predating the COVID-19 outbreak. Out of the initial pool, 204 participants were chosen based on specific criteria. By computing odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals, we determined the correlation between these factors and achieving optimal glycemic control (HbA1c < 7.5%). Of the 204 individuals, 55.9% (113 patients) were female. The average age at diagnosis was 6.93 ± 3.9 years. Mean HbA1c (A1C) level of optimal and suboptimal groups were 6.97, 95% CI 6.84 to 7.1 and 8.86, 95% CI 8.68 to 9.03, respectively (p-value < 0.001). Fifty patients had optimal glycemic control and 154 people experienced suboptimal glycemic control during the follow-up that the prevalence of each of them was 24.51, 95% CI 18.7 to 31 and 75.49, 95% CI 68.99 to 81.22, respectively. In the assessment of risk factors associated with suboptimal glycemic control, patients aged 10-14 years had the highest likelihood of experiencing suboptimal glycemic control (crude odds ratio [COR] 3.12, 95% CI 1.04 to 9.3), followed by duration of diabetes (COR 2.85, 95% CI 1.2 to 6.8), which both were significant. By utilizing multivariable logistic regression analysis, a noteworthy finding emerged. It was revealed that patients aged 10-14 years exhibited a significant association with suboptimal glycemic control, [adjusted odds ratio (AOR) 4.85, 95% CI 1.32 to 17.7]. Additionally, a statistically significant correlation was identified between individuals with a body mass index (BMI) falling within the ≥ 95th percentile category and suboptimal glycemic control, Cramer's V = 0.21, p-value = 0.01. Our research has revealed a significant correlation between patients aged 10-14 years and obese individuals (BMI ≥ 95th) with suboptimal glycemic control. It is crucial to consider these factors as they can offer valuable insights during diagnosis, highlighting the increased risk of long-term suboptimal glycemic control.

Background: Thymocyte selection-associated high mobility group box protein (TOX) and members of the nuclear receptor 4A (NR4A) are known as transcription factors involved in T cell exhaustion. Objective: To evaluate the mRNA expression of TOX and NR4A1-3 in CD8+ T cells in acute leukemia. Methods: Blood samples were obtained from 21 ALL and 6 AML patients as well as 20 control subjects. CD8+ T cells were isolated using MACS. Relative gene expression of TOX and NR4A1-3 was then evaluated using qRT-PCR. Results: Comparison of mRNA expression of TOX in CD8+ T cells showed no significant difference among the study groups (p>0.05), while the expression of NR4A1 was significantly lower in AML patients than in the control group (p=0.0006). Also, the expression of NR4A2 and NR4A3 was significantly lower in both ALL (p=0.0049 and p=0.0005, respectively) and AML (p=0.0019 and p=0.0055, respectively) patients. Conclusion: NR4As expressions were found to be lower in CD8+ T cells from patients with AML and ALL compared to controls, whereas the mRNA expression of TOX showed no significant difference. Although TOX and NR4As are associated with CD8+ T cell exhaustion in solid tumors, they might play different roles in acute leukemia, which requires further investigation.

BACKGROUND: Despite advances in science and technology, human resources are of the major capital for organizations. Workforce retention is required to improve organizational efficiencies. OBJECTIVE: Therefore, in this study, the relationship between organizational justice (as one of the most influential factors) and turnover intention was investigated. METHODS: This descriptive-analytic study was done in the Comprehensive Jame Women's Hospital of Tehran in 2015. The statistical sample consisted of 135 nursing staff members. The data were collected using a questionnaire of Beugre's organizational justice and analyzed by the use of Spearman's and Anova statistical tests. RESULTS: Averages of organizational justice was obtained to be 68.85 ± 7.67 . Among different sorts of organizational justice, the highest average score of 75.24 ± 16.68 was achieved relevant to interactional justice. A significant relationship was observed between organizational justice (r = -0.36), interactional justice (r = -0.38), and procedural justice (r = -0.36) and turnover intention, but no relation was found between turnover intention and systemic and distributive justice. Furthermore, there was no relationship between demographic variables, organizational justice, and turnover intention. CONCLUSION: Considering the prominent role of organizational justice in the personnel's intention to stay or leave and due to the high costs of recruiting and training new staff, managers should pay especial attention to justice and provide their employees' satisfaction and stability in their organizations by creating a positive mindset in them.
