RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Physical activity (PA) has been linked with cancer incidence. However, the effects and mechanisms underpinning circadian PA trajectories on cancer remain elusive. This study aimed to explore the optimal PA patterns in reducing cancer incidence and the associated potential mediators. METHODS: Between 2006 and 2010, 502,400 participants were recruited from the UK Biobank. Out of these, 102,323 participants wore accelerometers, which allowed for collecting acceleration data continuously over 7 days. After excluding participants with previous cancer history, 96,687 participants were included in K-means cluster analysis to identify PA trajectories. The association between PA and cancer incidence was assessed using Cox regression analysis. Additionally, we investigated the mediating role of inflammation. RESULTS: A total of 5995 cancer cases were recorded during a median follow-up of 7.1 years. Four distinct PA trajectories (persistent low, single peak, double peak, and vigorous) were identified. The ideal PA patterns reduced the risk of 7 out of 17 site-specific cancers, with the lowest hazard ratios and 95% confidence intervals of cancer for bladder (0.59, 0.40-0.86), breast (0.73, 0.60-0.89), kidney (0.45, 0.26-0.78), lung (0.59, 0.41-0.84), myeloma (0.49, 0.27-0.88), and oral & pharynx (0.51, 0.26-0.98) in the vigorous pattern and for colorectal (0.71, 0.54-0.93) in the double peak pattern. Moreover, the mediating effects of inflammation were significant. CONCLUSION: Optimal PA trajectories reduced cancer incidence, especially in double peak and vigorous patterns. The protective effect was associated with both intensity and circadian rhythm. Crucially, this protection was mediated by inflammation regulation.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: There is a lack of relevant studies evaluating the long-term impact of cardiovascular health factor (CVH) metrics on chronic kidney disease (CKD). OBJECTIVE: This study investigates the long-term change in CVH metrics in older people and explores the relationship between CVH metrics trajectory and CKD. METHODS: In total, 27,635 older people aged over 60 from the community-based Tianjin Chronic Kidney Disease Cohort study were enrolled. The participants completed five annual physical examinations between January 01, 2014, and December 31, 2018, and a subsequent follow-up between January 01, 2019, and December 31, 2021. CVH metrics trajectories were established by the group-based trajectory model to predict CKD risk. The relationships between baseline CVH, CVH change (ΔCVH), and CKD risk were also explored by logistic regression and restricted cubic spline regression model. In addition, likelihood ratio tests were used to compare the goodness of fit of the different models. RESULTS: Six distinct CVH metrics trajectories were identified among the participants: low-stable (11.19%), low-medium-stable (30.58%), medium-stable (30.54%), medium-high-decreased (5.46%), medium-high-stable (18.93%), and high-stable (3.25%). After adjustment for potential confounders, higher CVH metrics trajectory was associated with decreased risk of CKD (P for trend < 0.001). Comparing the high-stable with the low-stable group, the risk of CKD decreased by 46%. All sensitivity analyses, including adjusting for baseline CVH and removing each CVH component from the total CVH, produced consistent results. Furthermore, the likelihood ratio test revealed that the model established by the CVH trajectory fit better than the baseline CVH and Δ CVH. CONCLUSION: The higher CVH metrics trajectory and improvement of CVH metrics were associated with decreased risk of CKD. This study emphasized the importance of improving CVH to achieve primary prevention of CKD in older people.

RESUMO

Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) is a complex syndrome characterized by multi-organ involvement that has emerged in the context of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) outbreak. The clinical presentation of MIS-C is similar to Kawasaki disease but predominantly presents with fever and gastrointestinal symptoms, and severe cases can involve toxic shock and cardiac dysfunction. Epidemiological findings indicate that the majority of MIS-C patients test positive for SARS-CoV-2 antibodies. The pathogenesis and pathophysiology of MIS-C remain unclear, though immune dysregulation following SARS-CoV-2 infection is considered a major contributing factor. Current treatment approaches for MIS-C primarily involve intravenous immunoglobulin therapy and symptomatic supportive care. This review article provides a comprehensive overview of the definition, epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical presentation, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of MIS-C.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) and porcine delta-coronavirus (PDCoV) are economically important pathogens that cause diarrhea in sows and acute death of newborn piglets. Moreover, the emerging PDCoV was reported to infect children. The current situation is that vaccine prevention has not met expectations, and emergency containment strategies following outbreaks cannot prevent the damages and losses already incurred. Therefore, a more sensitive detection method, that is both convenient and enables accurate and effective sequencing, that will provide early warning of PEDV and PDCoV is necessary. This will enable active, effective, and comprehensive prevention and control, which will possibly reduce disease occurrences. RESULTS: Duplex nested RT-PCR (dnRT-PCR) is an ideal method to achieve early warning and monitoring of PEDV and PDCoV diseases, and to additionally investigate any molecular epidemiological characteristics. In this study, two pairs of primers were designed for each virus based upon the highly conserved N protein sequences of both PEDV and PDCoV strains retrieved from the NCBI Genbank. After optimization of the reaction conditions, the dnRT-PCR assay amplified a 749-bp fragment specific to PEDV and a 344-bp fragment specific to PDCoV. Meanwhile, the specificity and sensitivity of the primers and clinical samples were tested to verify and establish this dnRT-PCR method. The limit of detection (LoD)for both PEDV and PDCoV was 10 copies/µL. The results showed that among 251 samples, 1 sample contained PEDV infection, 19 samples contained a PDCoV infection, and 8 samples were infected with both viruses, following the use of dnRT-PCR. Subsequently, the positive samples were sent for sequencing, and the sequencing results confirmed that they were all positive for the viruses detected using dnRT-PCR, and conventional RT-PCR detection was conducted again after the onset of disease. As these results were consistent with previous results, a detection method for PEDV and PDCoV using dnRT-PCR was successfully established. In conclusion, the dnRT-PCR method established in this study was able to detect both PEDV and PDCoV, concomitantly. CONCLUSIONS: The duplex nested RT-PCR method represents a convenient, reliable, specific, sensitive and anti-interference technique for detecting PEDV and PDCoV, and can additionally be used to simultaneously determine the molecular epidemiological background.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: To assess the anxiety and depression levels in patients with Posner-Schlossman syndrome (PSS) and to determine the potential risk factors. METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, a total of 195 participants, including 93 PSS patients and 102 healthy controls were recruited. Sociodemographic and clinical information were collected for all participants. Hospital Anxiety and Depression scale (HADS) was administered to evaluate the anxiety and depression levels. Visual function (VF) and quality-of-life (QOL) questionnaires were administered to assess variables potentially associated with anxiety and depression. RESULTS: Increased anxiety level was observed in 22 (23.7%) PSS patients as compared to 10 (9.8%) of controls (P = 0.009). While the frequency of depression between the two groups was not significantly different (P = 0.349). The mean anxiety and depression scores were 6.98 ± 4.20 and 6.44 ± 3.66 in PSS patients as compared to 6.67 ± 3.21 (P = 0.564) and 5.96 ± 2.93 (P = 0.311) in controls. Logistic regression analysis showed mental well-being was significantly associated with anxiety (odds ratio [OR] = 0.920, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.881-0.962, P < 0.001) and depression (OR = 0.959, CI = 0.926-0.994, P = 0.023) in PSS patients. CONCLUSION: More patients with PSS may experience anxiety as compared to healthy controls. Mental well-being is an independent risk factor for anxiety and depression. It is important for ophthalmologists to be aware of these factors and should pay more attention on mental health when PSS is managed in clinic.

RESUMO

This study aimed to investigate the effects of high-fat diet (HFD) supplemented with berberine on growth, lipid metabolism, antioxidant capacity and lipometabolism-related genes expression of AMPK signaling pathway in juvenile black carp (Mylopharyngodon piceus). Five hundred and forty healthy fish (4.04 ± 0.01 g) were randomly distributed into six groups, and fed six experimental diets: normal-fat diet (NFD, 5% fat), HFD (15% fat), and four HFDs supplemented with graded levels of berberine, respectively. The results showed that, compared with fish fed NFD, HFD had no effects on the growth of fish except for reducing survival rate, whereas HFD caused extensive lipid accumulation, oxidative stress injury and hepatic abnormalities. However, compared with the HFD group, fish fed HFD containing an appropriate berberine (98.26 or 196.21 mg/kg) improved the growth performance, increased hepatic lipid metabolism and antioxidant enzymes activities, and up-regulated the mRNA expression levels of ampk subunits and lipolysis genes such as pparα, cpt-1, acox, atgl and hsl (P < 0.05). Meanwhile, HFD supplemented with an appropriate berberine reduced crude lipid contents in liver and whole-body, decreased serum lipid contents, and ALT and AST activities, and down-regulated the mRNA expression levels of lipogenesis genes such as srebp-1, acc1, gpat, fas and pparγ, and lipid transporter genes such as fatp, fabp and fat/cd36 (P < 0.05). Thus, HFD supplemented with an appropriate berberine could improve growth of black carp, promote lipid metabolism and enhance antioxidant capacity. The lipid-lowering mechanism of berberine might be mediated by activating AMPK pathway, up-regulating lipolysis genes expression, and down-regulating lipogenesis and transport genes expression.

RESUMO

We show the first experiment of a transverse laser interference for electron injection into the laser plasma accelerators. Simulations show such an injection is different from previous methods, as electrons are trapped into later acceleration buckets other than the leading ones. With optimal plasma tapering, the dephasing limit of such unprecedented electron beams could be potentially increased by an order of magnitude. In simulations, the interference drives a relativistic plasma grating, which triggers the splitting of relativistic-intensity laser pulses and wakefield. Consequently, spatially dual electron beams are accelerated, as also confirmed by the experiment.

RESUMO

Making a hydrogel-based first-aid bandage with green resources, desirable biocompatibility, universal adhesive properties, low cost and simple production is a long-standing research aspiration. Considering this, three naturally existing organic acids, namely tannic acid, thioctic acid and phytic acid, were used to construct a novel adhesive gel (TATAPA hydrogel) for epidermal tissue bandage applications. This hydrogel could be synthesized under mild conditions with no need for a freeze-thawing shaping procedure, and was transparent, moldable and stretchable with good stability under continuous water immersion. In lap-shear tests, the TATAPA hydrogel could adhere to various hydrophilic and hydrophobic surfaces. Moreover, in the case of skin tissue adhesion, the hydrogel could be easily peeled off from the skin, meeting wearability requirements. Rheological tests showed that the hydrogel possessed thermal sensitive properties derived from multi-supramolecular interactions. The methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)-infected burn wound test demonstrated that the hydrogel had desirable antibacterial activity and was beneficial for wound healing. A femoral artery bleeding assay was also used to reveal that the TATAPA hydrogel could be directly pasted onto the bleeding site for hemostasis. Overall, this hydrogel demonstrates potential as a surgical bioadhesive for a broad range of medical applications.

RESUMO

This meta-analysis was performed to compare the influence of sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) on the efficacy and safety of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes with the young ones. PubMed, Medline, Web of Science, EMbase, and Cochrane Library were searched for literature published before March 2020 to identify studies comparing efficacy and safety of SGLT2i in elderly diabetes patients (≥65 years) and young controls (<65 years). A fixed or random-effect model was used to calculate the summary standard means difference and odds ratios. A total of 13 articles with data for 86,433 participants were included. Old patients receiving SGLT2i had a smaller reduction in hemoglobin A1c (SMD = -0.07, 95% CI -0.14 to -0.00, p = 0.044) than young ones. They had higher incidence of serious adverse events (SAEs) (OR 1.78, 95% CI 1.25-2.55, p = 0.001), AE leading to discontinuation (OR 2.34, 95%CI 1.53-3.59, p = 0.000), volume depletion (OR 2.80, 95% CI 1.82-4.32, p = 0.000) , and urinary tract infections (OR 1.37, 95% CI 1.18-1.60, p = 0.000), and renal function impairment (OR 2.61, 95% CI 1.78-3.81, p = 0.000) than young patients, and there was a opposite result in genital mycotic infections (OR 0.69, 95% CI 0.55-0.87, p = 0.002). No significant differences were recorded in the reduction of fasting blood glucose, blood pressure, body weight, and in incidence of overall AEs and fracture. In summary, relatively satisfying efficacy was observed in the elderly patients receiving SGLT2i. Although some AEs were more prevalent among older patients, the majority of them were generally mild.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The current study aims to investigate the expression and diagnostic value of ADAM12 in patients with cervical cancer before general anesthesia. METHODS: Seventy-eight cases of cervical cancer patients were included in the present study. RT-PCR and western blot were used to detect the expression of ADAM12 in cervical cancer tissues and adjacent tissues. Meanwhile, the expression of secretory ADAM12 in serum of cervical cancer patients and healthy people was detected by ELISA. The relationship between ADAM12 expression and prognosis of cervical cancer patients was analyzed. ROC analysis was carried out to explore the diagnostic value of ADAM12. RESULTS: Our data showed that the expression of ADAM12 mRNA and protein in cervical cancer tissues was significantly up-regulated compared with the adjacent tissues. ELISA assay showed that the content of ADAM12 in serum of cervical cancer patients was significantly higher than that of healthy people. Furthermore, ADAM12 expression was closely related to tumor invasion, TNM stage, lymph node metastasis and tumor differentiation. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that the overall survival rate of patients with high ADAM12 was significantly lower than that of patients with low ADAM12 expression. The AUC of ADAM12, CEA, CA125, and SCC for cervical cancer was 0.893, 0.510, 0.769 and 0.550, respectively, while the highest value of AUC was 0.946 by the combination of the four indexes. CONCLUSIONS: In summary, increased expression of ADAM12 in cervical cancer patients can be used as an independent prognostic marker.

RESUMO

Peeling of citrus fruits is the key procedure in the production of citrus products such as canned citrus and citrus vinegar. In order to facilitate this peeling process, Citrus reticulata Blanco is usually heated. The treatments of steam blanching and air cooling were carried out in the citrus peeling experiment. The anatomical details of citrus peel were also observed after steam blanching. The results indicated that the duration of steam blanching had a significant influence on peelability of Citrus reticulata Blanco (P < 0.01). With the proceeding of steam blanching, the maximum stripping force and the maximum stripping length of the citrus peel decreased. Two minutes after steam blanching, parenchyma cell structure and vascular elements were destroyed. The duration of cooling treatment has no significant impact on the peelability of the citrus (P > 0.05). The content of titratable acid, total soluble solid and vitamin C were considerably influenced by steam blanching. When steam blanching duration was within 2 min, the color change ∆Eij was less than 3.0, indicating no significant color change. This study determined 2 min to be the optimal steam blanching duration for achieving the best peelability and quality of peeled citrus, and 5 min or less to be optimal cooling duration. Overall, this study provides a theoretical guideline for the application of the steam blanching treatment in the citrus production.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: The health behaviors of hypertensive stroke patients in China are not satisfactory. In this study, we tested the effect of a Health Belief Model Comprehensive Reminder System on health behaviors and blood pressure control in hypertensive ischemic stroke patients after occurrence and hospital discharge. METHODS: A randomized, parallel-group, assessor-blinded experimental design yielded participation of 174 hospitalized hypertensive ischemic stroke patients. The intervention consisted of face-to-face and telephone health belief education, a patient calendar handbook, and weekly automated short-message services. Data were collected at baseline and 3 months after discharge. RESULTS: Three months after discharge, the intervention group showed statistically, significantly better health behaviors for physical activity, nutrition, low-salt diet, and medication adherence. The intervention group also had statistically, significantly decreased systolic blood pressure and increased blood pressure control rate. Smoking and alcohol use behaviors were not affected. CONCLUSION: At 3 months, use of the Comprehensive Reminder System based on the Health Belief Model, yielded improvement in most health behaviors and blood pressure control in hypertensive ischemic stroke patients. Continued implementation of this intervention protocol is warranted to determine the long-term effect. Smoking and alcohol use behaviors need to be targeted with a different intervention.

RESUMO

The aim of this study was to evaluate the inhibiting effect of apigenin on liver cancer in vivo based on the optical molecular imaging method. Subcutaneous liver tumor models were established using respective 1 × 106 firefly luciferase (fLuc) and green fluorescent protein (GFP) labeled human hepatocellular carcinoma cells (HepG2-fLuc and HepG2-GFP cells) in 20 BALB/c nude mice which were randomly divided into two groups, 10 in each group. After the tumor cells were implanted 15 days, apigenin was administered through intraperitoneal injection in group B, the other ten mice as control group A. Bioluminescence imaging (BLI) and fluorescence molecular imaging (FMI) were carried out for the follow-up of subcutaneous tumor model. As time goes on, intensity and distribution of bioluminescence and fluorescence of tumours increased gradually with the growth of tumours little by little. The whole process of observation was in accordance with known activities of HCC in the human liver. The tumor volume and tumor weight were significant lower in group B than in group A (p < 0.05), Subcutaneous tumours in the apigenin treatment group B based on BLI and FMI were significantly inhibited compared to the control group A (p < 0.05). Apigenin could be expected as a new drug to treat hepatocellular carcinoma. Optical molecular imaging technology enabled the non-invasive and reliable assessment of anti-tumor drug efficacy on liver cancer.

RESUMO

Proton-exchange membranes (PEMs) as separators have important technological applications in electrochemical devices, including fuel cells, electrochemical sensors, electrochemical reactors, and electrochromic displays. The composite membrane of a proton-conducting metal-organic framework (MOF) and an organic polymer combines the unique physical and chemical nature of the polymer and the high proton conductivity of the MOF, bringing together the best of both components to potentially fabricate high-performance PEMs. In this study, we have investigated the proton-transport nature of a zirconium(IV) MOF, MOF-808 (1). This superior-water-stability MOF shows striking proton conductivity with σ = 7.58 × 10-3 S·cm-1 at 315 K and 99% relative humidity. The composite membranes of 1 and poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) have further been fabricated and are labeled as 1@PVDF-X, where X represents the mass percentage of 1 (as X%) in 1@PVDF-X and X = 10-55%. The composite membranes exhibit good mechanical features and durability for practical application and a considerable proton conductivity of 1.56 × 10-4 S·cm-1 in deionized water at 338 K as well. Thus, the composite membranes show promising applications as alternative PEMs in diverse electrochemical devices.

RESUMO

Switchable conducting or dielectric materials, as the key component, show important technological applications in modern electrical and electronic devices, including data communication, phase shifters, varactors, and rewritable optical data storage. To explore new types of switchable conducting or dielectric materials could significantly accelerate the development of efficient electrical and electronic devices. Herein we present the first example of switchable conducting and dielectric material, which is based on an open-framework phosphate, (C2N2H10)0.5CoPO4. A reversible isostructural phase transition occurs at ∼348 K in this open-framework phosphate, to give both dielectrics and conductance anomaly around the critical temperature of phase transition. This study will provide a roadmap for searching new switchable conducting or dielectric materials as well as new applications of open-framework phosphates.

RESUMO

There are several therapeutic strategies available for the treatment of an acute gout attack and the prevention of recurrent gout flares, and they include nonsteroid anti-inflammatory drugs. This prospective study was aimed at evaluating the efficiency and safety of diacerein in combination with febuxostat on urate control, global assessments of disease activity, self-monitored gouty acute flare times, inflammatory markers, and clinical symptoms associated with their life quantity in patients with refractory gout. A total of 64 patients with refractory gout were sequentially recruited and prescribed with oral febuxostat alone or febuxostat plus diacerein daily for 12 weeks. The intensity of joint pain, numbers of acute flare, disease activity and the levels of serum amyloid A, mature IL-1ß, IL-18, C-reactive protein, and urate in individual subjects were routine analyzed. In comparison with that treatment with febuxostat alone, treatment with both drugs for 12 weeks had a better therapeutic effect on reducing the values of visual analog scales, acute flares, and healthy assessment questionnaire scores in these gout patients. Furthermore, treatment with both drugs also significantly reduced the mean daily dose of etoricoxib and the levels of serum IL-1ß and serum amyloid A. There was no significant difference in the frequency of patients with adverse effect between these 2 groups of patients. In conclusion, combination of diacerein and febuxostat had better therapeutic effect on reducing acute gout flares, inflammation, and clinical symptoms in patients with refractory gout.

RESUMO

Objective To observe the expressions of matrix metalloproteinase-7 (MMP-7) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1 ) in chronic stomach disease patients with different syn- dromes of Chinese medicine (CM) , and their relationships with Helicobacter pylori ( Hp ) infection. Meth- ods Totally 117 chronic stomach disease patients were recruited, and 11 healthy volunteers were also recruited. Chronic stomach disease patients were assigned to Pi-Wei dampness-heat syndrome (PWDHS, 57 cases) , disharmony of Gan and Wei syndrome (DGWS, 30 cases) , and Pi qi deficiency syndrome (PQDS, 30 cases) by syndrome typing. Healthy volunteers were recruited as the healthy con- trol group. Hp infection was detected using methylene blue dyeing and rapid urease test (RUT). The degree of inflammation was observed by conventional HE staining. The protein expressions of MMP-7 and TIMP-1 were detected qualitatively and positioningly using immunohistochemical method. Results Patients with PWDHS and patients with DGWS had equivalent Hp infection rate and degree. They showed a slightly increasing tendency than patients with PQDS, but with no statistical difference (P >0. 05). Com- pared with PWDHS and PQDS groups, more severe inflammation of mucosa occurred in patients with DG- WS (P <0. 05). More severe inflammation of mucosa occurred in patients with PWDHS than in those with PQDS, but with no statistical difference (P >0. 05). The severity of gastric mucosal inflammatory activity was sequenced from high to low as PWDHS, DGWS, PQDS, all with statistical difference (P <0. 05). Compared with Hp negative patients, the gastric mucosal inflammatory activity was more severe in Hp positive patients with PWDHS, DGWS, PQDS. The gastric mucosal inflammatory activity was more se- vere in Hp positive patients with PWDHS and PQDS (P <0. 05). Compared with the healthy control group, the expression level of TIMP-1 in gastric mucosa increased in patients with PWDHS, DGWS, PQDS (P <0. 05, P <0. 01) ; the expression level of MMP-7 increased in Hp negative patients with PWDHS (P < 0. 05). Compared with Hp negative patients with PWDHS, the expression level of MMP-7 decreased in Hp positive patients with PWDHS (P <0. 05). Compared with the PQDS group, the expression level of TIMP-1 decreased in the PWDHS group (P <0. 01). The severity of gastric mucosal inflammation was negatively correlated with the expression level of MMP-7, and positively correlated with the expression level of TIMP- 1 (P <0. 01). Hp infection degree was not obviously correlated with the expression level of MMP-7 in gastric mucosa (P >0. 05) , but positively correlated with the expression level of TIMP-1 in gastric mucosa (P <0. 05). Of them, the expression level of MMP-7 in gastric mucosa was positively correlated with the expression level of TIMP-1 in gastric mucosa (P <0. 01). Conclusions Comparatively lower expression of MMP-7 in gastric mucosal inflammation and imbalanced expression of TIMP-1 might be two of the pathogeneses of chronic stomach disease. Their various expressions in different CM syndromes might have certain expositions for microscopic research on "different syndromes of the same disease". Emotional fluctuation might also be one of important factors for chronic stomach disease.

RESUMO

Recent studies have been shown that voltage-dependent anion channel 1 (VDAC1) plays an important role in carcinogenesis. However, its molecular biological function in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has not been entirely clarified. This study investigated the expression of VDAC1 in HCC and its prognostic value for HCC patients. Furthermore, we also identify the relevant VDAC1 direct target. Western blot, real-time quantitative PCR (qRT-PCR), and immunohistochemical (IHC) staining were performed to detect the expression of VDAC1 in HCC. Furthermore, the relationship between the VDAC1 level and clinicopathological features and prognostic values was explored. The effects of VDAC1 on HCC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion were also investigated in vitro. Predicted target gene of VDAC1 was determined by dual-luciferase reporter assay, qRT-PCR, and Western blot analyses. Our results revealed elevated VDAC1 messenger RNA (mRNA) (P = 0.0020) and protein (P = 0.0035) expression in tumor tissue samples compared with paired adjacent non-tumorous tissue samples. High VDAC1 expression was correlated with distant metastasis (P = 0.025), differentiation (P = 0.002), and advanced tumor stage (P = 0.004) in HCC patients. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis demonstrated that high expression of VDAC1 was significantly correlated with a poor prognosis for HCC patients (P < 0.001). The multivariate analysis revealed that VDAC1 expression was an independent prognostic factor of the overall survival rate of HCC patients. Furthermore, knockdown of VDAC1 inhibits HCC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in vitro. Moreover, further study revealed that miR-7 was a putative target of VDAC1. Our study suggested that miR-7 suppressed the expression of VDAC1. VDAC1 plays an important role in tumor progression and may be used as a potential role in the prognosis of HCC patients.

RESUMO

The inorganic-organic hybrid metal hydrogenophosphate with a formula of (C2H10N2)[Mn2(HPO4)3](H2O) (1) shows layered crystal structure. The inorganic anion layer is built from Mn3O13 cluster units, and the interlayer spaces are filled by the charge-compensated ethylenediammonium dications together with the lattice water molecules. The thermogravimetry, variable-temperature powder X-ray diffraction, and the proton conductance under anhydrous and moisture environments were investigated for 1, disclosing that 1 shows high thermal stability and high proton transport nature, and the proton conductivity reaches to 1.64 × 10(-3) S·cm(-1) under 99%RH even at 293 K. The high proton conductivity is related to the formation of denser H-bond networks in the lattice.

RESUMO

A Zn-based metal-organic framework (MOF)/porous coordination polymer (PCP), (EMIM)[Zn(SIP)] (1) (SIP3- = 5-sulfoisophthalate, EMIM+ = 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium), was synthesized using the ionothermal reaction. The Zn2+ ion adopts distorted square pyramid coordination geometry with five oxygen atoms from three carboxylates and one sulfo group. One of two carboxylates in SIP3- serves as a µ2-bridge ligand to link two Zn2+ ions and form the dinuclear SBU, and such SBUs are connected by SIP3- ligands to build the three-dimensional framework with rutile (rtl) topology. The cations from the ion-liquid fill the channels. This MOF/PCP shows two-step dielectric anomalies together with two-step dielectric relaxations; the variable-temperature single-crystal structure analyses disclosed the dielectric anomaly occurring at ca. 280 K is caused by an isostructural phase transition. Another dielectric anomaly is related to the dynamic disorder of the cations in the channels. Electric modulus, conductance, and variable-temperature solid-state 13C CP/MAS NMR spectra analyses revealed that two-step dielectric relaxations result from the dynamic motion of the cations as well as the direct-current conduction and electrode effect, respectively.
