[Treatment of anemia in pregnant women by a complex method with application of carbostimulin]. / Lechenie anemii beremennykh kompleksnym metodom s priemenniem karbostimylina.

The medicinal effect of carbostimulin was studied under conditions of anemia in pregnant women. A group of pregnant women (n-54) who were given carbostimulin in addition to the ordinary antianemic therapy showed a 2.5-fold increase of erythrocytes and 1.6-fold rise of hemoglobin as compared to the control group. The number of labour complications decreased: a 5-fold decrease was observed for the intrauterine hypoxia of the fetus and the amount of delayed labour. The percentage of labour with surgical intervention lowered from 40.0 down to 18.5. The frequency of the instrumental examination of the womb cavity and digital removal of the placenta were 6 and 3.4 times as low, respectively. The number of children of small weight became more than twice as low (from 27 up to 12.2%). There were less newborns in the state of light and heavy asphyxia (1.5 and 3.7 times, respectively). No cases of perinatal mortality were observed. Parameters of the newborns peripheral blood improved.

[Possibilities of combined diathermo-cryodestruction in the treatment of hyperplastic processes of the cervix uteri]. / Vozmozhnosti kombinirovannoi diatermokriodstruktsii v lechenii giperplasticheskikh protsessov sheiki matki.

The authors analyze the results of two-year follow-up of 82 patients operated on for hypertrophy of the cervix uteri. Traditional cone-shaped diathermo-excision and diathermo-cryodestruction in the authors' modification were used. Good results were achieved in all the cases.

[Diagnosis of chronic fetal anoxia]. / Diagnostika khronicheskoi gipoksii ploda.

The intrauterine fetal status was assessed in women at 34-42 week gestation; the pregnancies were complicated by obstetric and extragenital disease (nephropathy, prolonged gestation, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, renal disease). Computer-assisted analysis of the diagnostic value of fetal cardiotocography, uterine-placental hemodynamics, and acid-base status of maternal capillary blood showed that the following parameters are most informative for the diagnosis of chronic fetal hypoxia: stable rhythm duration; oscillation amplitude; acceleration/deceleration number, amplitude, and duration; volume flow rate of the uterine-placental unit; and pH and base deficiency in the blood taken from the cervix uteri.

[Toxicological properties of benzanthrone and its derivatives in relation to their chemical structure]. / Toksikologicheskie osobennosti benzantrona i nekotorykh ego proizvodnykh s uchetom ikh khimicheskoi struktury.

The paper presents a comparative study covering toxicological characteristics of benznthrone, brombenzanthrone, dibrombenzanthrone, methoxybenzanthrone, dibenzanronyl, dibenanthrone (violanthrone). The mentioned compounds were found to have a low acute and marked subchronic toxicity manifesting itself in the damaging action on the blood and liver. Here the reaction of the lympho-histiocytic elements along with the appearance of plasmatic and mast cells is typical. In the series of the study compounds most toxic are benzanthrone and its bromine-derivatives. Incorporation of a methoxy-group in the benzanthrone molecule and conjugation of two benzanthrone molecules help lessen the toxic action.

[Several parameters of cellular immunity in uncomplicated pregnancy and in threatened abortion]. / Nekotorye pokazateli kletochnogo immuniteta pri neoslozhnennoi beremennosti i pri ugroze nevynashivaniia.

Levels of T and B lymphocytes have been assessed in 117 patients with probable loss of pregnancy during its various terms. The results compared with those obtained from 47 females with normally advancing pregnancies and 25 healthy nonpregnant women demonstrate that during the normal pregnancy, the number of T and B lymphocytes tends to decrease while that of lymphocytes is increasing. The signs of pregnancy interruption, particularly pronounced in threatened premature labor are found to be followed with a pronounced activation of the immunity T-system.
