RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Nowadays, both lateral mass screw (LMS) and pedicle screw were effective instrumentation for posterior stabilization of cervical spine. This study aims to evaluate the feasibility of a new free-hand technique of C7 pedicle screw insertion without fluoroscopic guidance for cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM) patients with C3 to C6 instrumented by lateral mass screws. METHODS: A total of 53 CSM patients underwent lateral mass screws instrumentation at C3 to C6 levels and pedicle screw instrumentation at C7 level were included. The preoperative 3-dimenional computed tomography (CT) reconstruction images of cervical spine were used to determine 2 different C7 pedicle screw trajectories. Trajectory A passed through the axis of the C7 pedicle while trajectory B selected the midpoint of the base of C7 superior facet as the entry point. All these 53 patients had the C7 pedicle screw inserted through trajectory B by free-hand without fluoroscopic guidance and the postoperative CT images were obtained to evaluate the accuracy of C7 pedicle screw insertion. RESULTS: Trajectory B had smaller transverse angle, smaller screw length, and smaller screw width but both similar sagittal angle and similar pedicle height when compared with trajectory A. A total of 106 pedicle screws were inserted at C7 through trajectory B and only 8 screws were displaced with the accuracy of screw placement as high as 92.5%. CONCLUSION: In CSM patients with C3 to C6 instrumented by LMS, using trajectory B for C7 pedicle screw insertion is easy to both identify the entry point and facilitate the rod insertion.

RESUMO

Practical approaches to the synthesis of atomically precise metal nanoclusters are in high demand as they provide the structural basis for investigating nanomaterials' structure-property correlations with atomic precision. The Brust-Schiffrin method has been widely used, while the essential reductive ligands (e.g., thiols) limit the application of this method for synthesizing metal nanoclusters with specific frameworks and surface ligands. In this work, we developed a photochemical route for synthesizing atomically precise metal nanoclusters by applying disulfide, which is a widely available, stable, and environmentally friendly sulfur source. This method enables the construction of structurally diverse metal nanoclusters and especially features the synthesis of PhS-protected metal nanoclusters that were not easily achieved previously and the gram-scale synthesis. A reduction-oxidation cascade mechanism has been revealed for the photochemical route. This work is expected to open up new opportunities for metal nanocluster synthesis and will contribute to the practical applications of this kind of nanomaterial.

RESUMO

Atomically precise metal nanoclusters have received tremendous attention due to their unique structures and properties. Although synthetic approaches to this kind of nanomaterial have been well developed, methods toward precision functionalization of the as-synthesized metal nanoclusters are extremely limited, hindering their interfacial modification and related performance improvement. Herein, an amidation strategy has been developed for the precision functionalization of the Au11 nanocluster based on preorganized nitrogen sites. The nanocluster amidation did not change the number of gold atoms in the Au11 kernel and their bonding mode to the surface ligands but slightly modified the arrangement of gold atoms with the introduction of functionality and chirality, thus representing a relatively mild method for the modification of metal nanoclusters. The stability and oxidation barrier of the Au11 nanocluster are also improved accordingly. The method developed here would be a generalizable strategy for the precision functionalization of metal nanoclusters.

RESUMO

Rationally tuning the emission position and narrowing the full width at half-maximum (FWHM) of an emitter is of great importance for many applications. By synergistically improving rigidity, strengthening the resonant strength, inhibiting molecular bending and rocking, and destabilizing the HOMO energy level, a deep-blue emitter (CZ2CO) with a peak wavelength of 440 nm and an ultranarrow spectral FWHM of 16 nm (0.10 eV) was developed via intramolecular cyclization in a carbonyl/N resonant core (QAO). The dominant υ0-0 transition character of CZ2CO gives a Commission Internationale de I'Éclairage coordinates (CIE) of (0.144, 0.042), nicely complying with the BT.2020 standard. Moreover, a hyper-fluorescent device based on CZ2CO shows a high maximum external quantum efficiency (EQEmax ) of 25.6 % and maintains an EQE of 22.4 % at a practical brightness of 1000 cd m-2 .

RESUMO

The development of photoinduced luminescent radicals with dynamic emission color is still challenging. Herein we report a novel molecular radical system (TBIQ) that shows photo-controllable luminescence, leading to a wide range of ratiometric color changes via light excitation. The conjugated skeleton of TBIQ is decorated with steric-demanding tertiary butyl groups that enable appropriate intermolecular interaction to make dynamic intermolecular coupling possible for controllable behaviors. We reveal that the helicenic pseudo-planar conformation of TBIQ experiences a planarization process after light excitation, leading to more compactly stacked supermolecules and thus generating radicals via intermolecular charge transfer. The photo-controllable luminescent radical system is employed for a high-level information encryption application. This study may offer unique insight into molecular dynamic motion for optical manufacturing and broaden the scope of smart-responsive materials for advanced applications.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Radiotherapy is the primary therapeutic option for glioblastoma. Some studies proved that radiotherapy increased the release of exosomes from cells. The mechanism by which these exosomes modify the phenotype of microglia in the tumor microenvironment to further determine the fate of irradiated glioblastoma cells remains to be elucidated. METHODS: We erected the co-culture system of glioblastoma cells and microglia. After radiation, we analyzing the immunophenotype of microglia and the proliferation of radiated glioblastoma cells. By whole transcriptome sequencing, we analyzed of circRNAs in exosomes from glioblastoma cells and microglia. We used some methods, which included RT-PCR, dual-luciferase reporter, et al., to identify how circ_0012381 from radiated glioblastoma cell-derived exosomes regulated the immunophenotype of microglia to further affect the proliferation of radiated glioblastoma cells. RESULTS: Radiated glioblastoma cell-derived exosomes markedly induced M2 microglia polarization. These M2-polarized microglia promoted the proliferation of irradiated glioblastoma cells. Circ_0012381 expression was increased in the irradiated glioblastoma cells, and circ_0012381 entered the microglia via exosomes. Circ_0012381 induced M2 microglia polarization by sponging with miR-340-5p to increase ARG1 expression. M2-polarized microglia suppressed phagocytosis and promoted the growth of the irradiated glioblastoma cells by CCL2/CCR2 axis. Compared with the effects of radiotherapy alone, the inhibition of exosomes significantly inhibited the growth of irradiated glioblastoma cells in a zebrafish model. CONCLUSIONS: Our data suggested that the inhibition of exosome secretion might represent a potential therapeutic strategy to increase the efficacy of radiotherapy in patients with glioblastoma.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Paroxysmal kinesigenic dyskinesia (PKD) is the most common type of paroxysmal dyskinesias. Only one-third of PKD patients are attributed to proline-rich transmembrane protein 2 (PRRT2) mutations. OBJECTIVE: We aimed to explore the potential causative gene for PKD. METHODS: A cohort of 196 PRRT2-negative PKD probands were enrolled for whole-exome sequencing (WES). Gene Ranking, Identification and Prediction Tool, a method of case-control analysis, was applied to identify the candidate genes. Another 325 PRRT2-negative PKD probands were subsequently screened with Sanger sequencing. RESULTS: Transmembrane Protein 151 (TMEM151A) variants were mainly clustered in PKD patients compared with the control groups. 24 heterozygous variants were detected in 25 of 521 probands (frequency = 4.80%), including 18 missense and 6 nonsense mutations. In 29 patients with TMEM151A variants, the ratio of male to female was 2.63:1 and the mean age of onset was 12.93 ± 3.15 years. Compared with PRRT2 mutation carriers, TMEM151A-related PKD were more common in sporadic PKD patients with pure phenotype. There was no significant difference in types of attack and treatment outcome between TMEM151A-positive and PRRT2-positive groups. CONCLUSIONS: We consolidated mutations in TMEM151A causing PKD with the aid of case-control analysis of a large-scale WES data, which broadens the genotypic spectrum of PKD. TMEM151A-related PKD were more common in sporadic cases and tended to present as pure phenotype with a late onset. Extensive functional studies are needed to enhance our understanding of the pathogenesis of TMEM151A-related PKD. © 2021 International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society.

RESUMO

Four blue-emissive iridium(III) complexes bearing a 3,3'-(1,3-phenylene)bis[1-isopropyl-6-(trifluoromethyl)-3H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridin-2-ylidene]-based pincer chelate, which are derived from PXn·H3(PF6)2, where n = 1-4, and a cyclometalating chelate given from 9-[6-[5-(trifluoromethyl)-2λ2-pyrazol-3-yl]pyridin-2-yl]-9H-carbazole [(PzpyCz)H2], were successfully synthesized and employed as both an emissive dopant and a sensitizer in the fabrication of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) devices. These functional chelates around a IrIII atom occupied two mutually orthogonal coordination arrangements and adopted the so-called bis-tridentate architectures. Theoretical studies confirmed the dominance of the electronic transition by the pincer chelates, while the dianionic PzpyCz chelate was only acting as a spectator group. Phosphorescent OLED devices with [Ir(PX3)(PzpyCz)] (B3) as the dopant gave a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 21.93% and CIExy of (0.144, 0.157) and was subjected to only ∼10% of roll-off in efficiency at a high current density of 1000 cd m-2. Blue-emissive narrow-band hyperphosphorescence was also obtained using B3 as an assistant sensitizer and ν-DABNA as a terminal emitter, giving both an improved EQE of 26.17% and CIExy of (0.116, 0.144), confirming efficient Förster resonance energy transfer in this hyperdevice.

RESUMO

Three multi-dentate coordinated chelates LnH2 (n = 1, 2, and 3), comprising a linked 1-(pyridin-2-yl)ethylbenzene and one pyrazolyl pyridine unit and showing either tridentate or tetradentate coordination modes, are successfully designed and synthesized. Dinuclear Ir(III) complexes [Ir(κ4-Ln)(µ-Cl)]2 bearing tetradentate coordinated κ4-Ln chelate (2a, n = 1; 2b, n = 2; 2c, n = 3) were next obtained en route from the respective intermediate [Ir(κ3-LnH)Cl(µ-Cl)]2 bearing the tridentate coordinated κ3-LnH chelate (1a, n = 1; 1b, n = 2; 1c, n = 3). Next, mononuclear Ir(III) complexes Ir(κ4-Ln)(thd) (3a, n = 1; 3b, n = 2; 3c, n = 3) with the tetradentate chelate were obtained upon treatment of 2 with 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedione (thd)H in the presence of K2CO3. Concurrently, methylation of 2c in the presence of MeI and nBu4NCl afforded tridentate Ir(κ3-L3HMe)Cl3 (4) and, next, can be converted to tetradentate Ir(κ4-L3Me)Cl2 (5) by further cyclometalation and HCl elimination in refluxing diethylene glycol monoethyl ether solution. The Ir(III) complexes 3a, 4, and 5 were unambiguously identified using spectroscopic methods, together with single-crystal X-ray structural analyses on Ir(III) derivatives 3a, 4, and 5. Their photophysical and ,electrochemical properties and device fabrication properties were also investigated and compared with results from theoretical studies.

RESUMO

A method is first established for the separation and determination of fenpropathrin enantiomer residues in apple puree, strawberry puree, and tomato puree considered a supplementary food for infants by supercritical fluid chromatography. After the sample was extracted with acetonitrile and cleaned up by a solid-phase extraction column, then it was separated by a CHIRALPAK AD-3 chiral column with gradient elution at a flow rate of 1.5 mL/min using methanol and supercritical carbon dioxide as the mobile phase, detected by ultraviolet detector at 230 nm wavelength and quantified with the external standard method. The limits of quantification of the two fenpropathrin enantiomers were both 0.2 mg/kg, the linear ranges were 1.0-20.0 mg/L with linear correlation coefficients greater than 0.9992, the recoveries in the spiked samples at 0.2, 0.4 and 2.0 mg/kg were from 80.6 to 105%, and the relative standard deviation reached 2.6-7.7%. This method has the advantages of convenient operation, good resolution, and environmental protection, which can satisfy the requirement of determination for fenpropathrin enantiomer residues in fruit and vegetable puree as supplementary food for infants.

RESUMO

Flueggea suffruticosa is a traditional Chinese medicine that has been commonly used for the treatment of inflammatory ailments, including rheumatism and lumbago. Suffrutines A and suffrutines B are a pair of novel E,E and Z,E isomeric indolizidine alkaloids isolated from the roots of F. suffruticosa. However, their anti-inflammatory activity has not been reported thus far. The aim of this study was to investigate the inhibitory effect of inflammatory mediators and possible mechanisms of suffrutines A and B in lipopolysaccharide-induced RAW264.7 cells. Results showed that suffrutines A and B could remarkably inhibit the production of nitric oxide, prostaglandin E2, interleukin-6, inducible nitric oxide synthase, and cyclooxygenase-2 in lipopolysaccharide-induced RAW264.7 cells. Further evaluation demonstrated that compared with suffrutines A, suffrutines B could more significantly inhibit the phosphorylation of IKKα/ß, the degradation of IκBα, and the nuclear translocation of the p65 and p52 subunits in the canonical and non-canonical nuclear factor-κB pathways. Therefore, suffrutines B exhibited more potent inhibitory activity on inflammatory mediators than suffrutines A.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Large amounts of thoracic curve correction had been considered as a risk factor for postoperative shoulder imbalance (PSI) in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) patients. This study aims to evaluate postoperative shoulder balance in Lenke type 1 AIS patients with large thoracic curve (Cobb angle ≥ 70 degrees) and compared it with those with moderate thoracic curve (Cobb angle < 70 degrees). METHODS: A total of 47 Lenke type 1 AIS patients underwent posterior correction surgery between Sept. 2016 to Nov. 2018 in our institution were included. All these patient were divided into 2 groups based on the severity of main thoracic (MT) curve. Group A consisted of 25 cases with MT curve equal to or more than 70 degree while Group B consisted of 22 cases with MT curve less than 70 degree. Proximal thoracic (PT) Cobb angle, MT Cobb angle, MT apical vertebral translation (AVT), T2-T5 kyphosis, T5-T12 kyphosis, and radiographic shoulder height (RSH) were compared between these 2 groups preoperatively, immediately after surgery, and at a minimum of two-year follow-up. RESULTS: Although all the correction of PT Cobb angle (15.8° ± 6.0° vs 12.5° ± 3.6°, P = 0.028), that of MT Cobb angle 47.3° ± 9.1° vs 30.9° ± 6.7°, P < 0.001) and that of MT AVT (35.1 mm ± 16.0 mm vs 24.1 mm ± 8.9 mm, P = 0.007) were significantly larger in Group A when compared with Group B, RSH was comparable between these 2 groups at last follow up (7.5 mm ± 7.4 mm vs 9.2 mm ± 4.2 mm P = 0.363). Most of the patients gained satisfactory shoulder balance with only 7 cases with minimal PSI in group A (28%) and only 6 cases with minimal PSI in group B (27.3%) at last follow-up (P > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Although Lenke type 1 AIS patients with large thoracic curve had more amounts of MT curve correction when compared with those with moderate thoracic curve, it did not lead to higher incidence of PSI if the correction rate is proper.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: There was a paucity of valid information on how to rectify the convex coronal imbalance effectively in dystrophic scoliosis secondary to Type I neurofibromatosis (DS-NF1), while postoperative inadvertent aggravation of CCI occurred regularly resulting in poor patient satisfaction. We aimed to identify the risk factors for persistent postoperative CCI in DS-NF1, and to optimize the coronal rebalancing strategies based on the lessons learned from this rare case series. METHODS: NF1-related scoliosis database was reviewed and those with significant CCI (> 3 cm) were identified, sorted and the outcomes of surgical coronal rebalance were analyzed to identify the factors being responsible for failure of CCI correction. RESULTS: CCI with dystrophic thoracolumbar/lumbar apex was prone to remain uncorrected (7 failure cases in 11) when compared to those with thoracic apex (0 failure cases in 4) (63.6% vs. 0.0%, p = 0.077). Further comparison between those with and without post-op CCI showed a higher correction of main curve Cobb angle (65.9 ± 9.1% vs. 51.5 ± 37.3%, p = 0.040), more tilted instrumentation (10.3 ± 3.6° vs. 3.2 ± 3.1°, p = 0.001) and reverse tilt and translation of upper instrumented vertebra (UIV) to convex side (8.0 ± 2.3° vs. -3.4 ± 5.9°, p < 0.001; 35.4 ± 6.9 mm vs. 12.3 ± 13.1 mm, p = 0.001) in the uncorrected imbalanced group. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that △UIV translation (pre- to post-operation) (ß = 0.832; p = 0.030) was significantly correlated with the correction of CBD. CONCLUSION: Thoracolumbar/lumbar CCI in dystrophic scoliosis was prone to suffer high risk of persistent post-op CCI. Satisfying coronal rebalance should avoid UIV tilt and translation to the convex side, tilted morphology of instrumentation and over correction maneuvers for main curve, the upper hemi-curve region in particular.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Rib head dislocation (RHD) in dystrophic scoliosis of type 1 neurofibromatosis (DS-NF1) is a unique disorder caused by skeletal dystrophy and scoliotic instability. No particular surgical manipulation is mentioned in the literature to instruct the spine surgeons to effectively obtain more migration of the dislocated rib head without resection. The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of screw/hook insertion at vertebrae with RHDs on the retraction of penetrated rib head from spinal canal. METHODS: 37 neurologically intact patients with DS-NF1 and concomitant 53 RHDs undergoing scoliosis surgery without rib head excision were retrospectively reviewed. We used pre and postoperative whole-spine radiographs to determine the Cobb angle and the vertebral translation (VT), and the CT scans to evaluate the intraspinal rib length (IRL) and rib-vertebral angle (RVA). The dislocated ribs were assigned into two groups according to the presence of screw/hook insertion at vertebrae with RHD: screw/hook group and non-screw/hook group. RESULTS: 37 dislocated ribs with screws/hooks insertion at corresponding vertebrae were assigned into the screw/hook group and the remaining 16 dislocated ribs consisted of the non-screw/hook group. In the screw/hook group, the correction rates of Cobb angle and VT were significantly higher than the non-screw/hook group after surgery (58.7 ± 16.0% vs. 30.9 ± 12.4%, p = 0.003; 61.8 ± 18.8% vs. 35.1 ± 16.6%, p = 0.001; respectively). Similarly, more correction rates of IRL and RVA were found in the screw/hook group than the non-screw/hook group (63.1 ± 31.3% vs. 30.1 ± 20.7%, p = 0.008; 17.6 ± 9.7% vs. 7.2 ± 3.6%, p = 0.006; respectively). Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that the correction rates of Cobb angle, VT and RVA contributed significantly to correction of IRL (ß = 0.389, 0.939 and 1.869, respectively; p = 0.019, 0.001 and 0.002, respectively). CONCLUSION: Screw/hook insertion at dystrophic vertebrae with RHDs contributed significantly to the degree of retraction of penetrated rib head from spinal canal. This effectiveness is mediated by more corrections of VT and RVA.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Although thoracic pedicle (TP) screw has gained increasingly popularity in the surgical treatment of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) patients, questions remain about the accurate selection of entry point for TP screw placement in these patient. The main objective of the present study was to evaluate the accuracy of TP screw placement in AIS patients using the entry point identified by new landmarks. METHODS: Thirty-four thoracic AIS patients treated with posterior TP screw instrumentation were included. All these TP screws were inserted through the entry point identified by new landmarks with free-hand technique. Postoperative CT scans were obtained to evaluate the screw position. The perforations of the pedicle were classified as grade 0 (no perforation), grade 1 (≤ 2 mm), grade 2 (2.1-4 mm), grade 3 (4.1-6 mm) and grade 4 (6.1-8.0 mm). Screws in grade 0, displaced either medially or anteriorly in grade 1 and displaced laterally in grades 1 to 2 were considered acceptable. RESULTS: Of the 495 TP screws inserted, 34 (6.9%) screws were displaced with 7 screws (1.4%) displaced medially, 20 screws (4.1%) displaced laterally and 7 screws (1.4%) displaced anteriorly (P < 0.05). Among the 34 displaced screws, 11 screws (32.4%) were considered as grade 1, 14 screws (38.2%) as grade 2 and 9 screws (29.4%) as grade 3 (P < 0.05). The overall rate of acceptable screws was 97.8%. No screw-related complication was noted. CONCLUSION: Our new method for selecting the entry point of TP screw in AIS patients is convenient and can achieve high accuracy of screw placement, which is worthy of being widely popularized.

RESUMO

In this paper, we used tannic acid (TA) functionalized carbon nanotubes (TCNTs), and silver nanowires (AgNWs) to construct a new type of transparent conductive film (TCF) with a double-layered conductive network structure. The hybrid film exhibits excellent light transmittance, high electrical conductivity, ultra-flexibility, and strong adhesion. These outstanding performances benefit from the filling and adhesion of hydrophilic TCNT layers to the AgNW networks. Besides, we introduced the post-treatment process of mechanical pressing and covering polymer conductive polymer PEDOT:PSS, which obtained three layers of TCNT/AgNW/PEDOT hybrid film and greatly improved the comprehensive properties. The hybrid film can reach a sheet resistance of 9.2 Ω sq-1 with a transmittance of 83.4% at 550 nm wavelength, and a low root mean square (RMS) roughness (approximately 3.8 nm). After 10 000 bends and tape testing, the conductivity and transmittance of the hybrid film remain stable. The resistance of the film has no significant degradation after 14 d of exposure to high temperature of 85 °C and humidity of 85%, indicating excellent stability. The organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) with TCNT/AgNW/PEDOT hybrid film as anode exhibit high current density and luminosity, confirming this process has considerable potential application in photovoltaic devices.

RESUMO

In this work, we report a series of bis-tridentate Ir(III) metal complexes, comprising a dianionic pyrazole-pyridine-phenyl tridentate chelate and a monoanionic chelate bearing a peripheral carbene and carboline coordination fragment that is linked to the central phenyl group. All these Ir(III) complexes were synthesized with an efficient one-pot and two-step method, and their emission hue was fine-tuned by variation of the substituent at the central coordination entity (i.e., pyridinyl and phenyl group) of each of the tridentate chelates. Their photophysical and electrochemical properties, thermal stabilities and electroluminescence performances are examined and discussed comprehensively. The doped devices based on [Ir(cbF)(phyz1)] (Cb1) and [Ir(cbB)(phyz1)] (Cb4) give a maximum external quantum efficiency (current efficiency) of 16.6% (55.2 cd/A) and 13.9% (43.8 cd/A), respectively. The relatively high electroluminescence efficiencies indicate that bis-tridentate Ir(III) complexes are promising candidates for OLED applications.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Paroxysmal kinesigenic dyskinesia is a spectrum of involuntary dyskinetic disorders with high clinical and genetic heterogeneity. Mutations in proline-rich transmembrane protein 2 have been identified as the major pathogenic factor. OBJECTIVES: We analyzed 600 paroxysmal kinesigenic dyskinesia patients nationwide who were identified by the China Paroxysmal Dyskinesia Collaborative Group to summarize the clinical phenotypes and genetic features of paroxysmal kinesigenic dyskinesia in China and to provide new thoughts on diagnosis and therapy. METHODS: The China Paroxysmal Dyskinesia Collaborative Group was composed of departments of neurology from 22 hospitals. Clinical manifestations and proline-rich transmembrane protein 2 screening results were recorded using unified paroxysmal kinesigenic dyskinesia registration forms. Genotype-phenotype correlation analyses were conducted in patients with and without proline-rich transmembrane protein 2 mutations. High-knee exercises were applied in partial patients as a new diagnostic test to induce attacks. RESULTS: Kinesigenic triggers, male predilection, dystonic attacks, aura, complicated forms of paroxysmal kinesigenic dyskinesia, clustering in patients with family history, and dramatic responses to antiepileptic treatment were the prominent features in this multicenter study. Clinical analysis showed that proline-rich transmembrane protein 2 mutation carriers were prone to present at a younger age and have longer attack duration, bilateral limb involvement, choreic attacks, a complicated form of paroxysmal kinesigenic dyskinesia, family history, and more forms of dyskinesia. The new high-knee-exercise test efficiently induced attacks and could assist in diagnosis. CONCLUSIONS: We propose recommendations regarding diagnostic criteria for paroxysmal kinesigenic dyskinesia based on this large clinical study of paroxysmal kinesigenic dyskinesia. The findings offered some new insights into the diagnosis and treatment of paroxysmal kinesigenic dyskinesia and might help in building standardized paroxysmal kinesigenic dyskinesia clinical evaluations and therapies. © 2020 International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society.

RESUMO

Coast-fitting tomographic inversion that is based on function expansion using three types of normal modes (the Dirichlet, Neumann, and open boundary modes) is proposed to reconstruct current fields from the coastal acoustic tomography (CAT) data. The superiority of the method was validated while using CAT data that were obtained in 2015 in the Dalian Bay. The semidiurnal tidal and residual current fields were accurately reconstructed over the entire model domain surrounded by coasts and open boundaries. The proposed method was effective, particularly around the peripheral regions of the tomography domain and the near-coast regions outside the domain, where accurate results are not expected from the conventional inverse method based on function expansion by Fourier function series with no coast fittings. The error velocity for the semidiurnal tidal currents was 2.2 cm s-1, which was calculated from the root-mean-square-difference between the CAT-observed and inverted range-averaged currents that were obtained along the nine peripheral transmission paths. The error velocity for the residual currents estimated from the 12-h mean net residual transport at the bay mouth was 0.9 cm s-1. The errors were significantly smaller than the amplitude of the tidal and residual currents.
