At the Robert-Picqué army training hospital in Bordeaux, an information and exchange day for carers was set up in 2018. It takes place once every term. It aims to favour the expression of experiences, suffering, conflicts, problems as well as discussions about potential improvements or solutions. The themes of these supervised exchanges are varied and numerous. They might cover violent acts against oneself or others in order to lessen or prevent such violence and dangerousness. Support groups are often supervised and facilitated by psychologists, frequently accompanied by nurses when they take place within a healthcare setting.

The theme of growing up is addressed through the presentation of the support group for around twenty hospitalised adolescents at the Maison de Solenn. In this weekly group, the subjects discussed are diverse in terms of their content and tone, depending on the atmosphere or changes: sharing daily life in hospital, the tastes and ideas of each participant, issues related to adolescence, to topics bordering on the philosophical or existential. The analysis of the themes discussed over the course of a year revealed that many provide the basis for thinking about the process of separation/individuation.

When a major event such as a terrorist attack occurs, caregivers may not only be confronted with a life-endangering situation as they tend to the victims but are also faced with particularly harrowing scenes, the massive influx of seriously injured victims, the distress of the injured and their families and the disorganisation of the care structure. The psychological trauma must be treated on an individual or collective level.

The question of health-justice coordination has been present since the law of 18th January 1994. Since then, professional relations between prison staff and health carers have been regularly questioned in terms of their aims. The texts structuring this interinstitutional health-justice coordination constitutes a framework which the various professionals must appropriate and implement by drawing on specific knowledge and skills. It is an invitation to work together around the same population, on their respective and different missions. The implementation of a structured therapeutic group with sex offenders constitutes a positive experience.

Within the framework of the weekly discussion group for young people hospitalized at the Maison de Solenn-Maison des adolescents of the Cochin Hospital in Paris, the latter were able, thanks to group containment and its dynamics, to think about their care and to take an active part in it.

The treatment of patients suffering from bulimic disorders requires a multidisciplinary approach combining a somatic approach and a psychiatric approach. The Maison des adolescents of the Cochin Hospital offers a therapeutic education program focused on the management of compulsive binge eating. Its modalities have been modified over the years in order to better adjust to the needs of these patients. Monthly discussion groups have been added to the individual interviews, and have been key points in structuring the treatment.

The management of patients suffering from anorexia nervosa involves the intervention of several professionals in a complementary manner. While the benefits of support groups are proven, caregivers are still a little wary of them. There are multiple reasons for this reticence. However, wherever they take place, talking becomes freer, relationships become more fluid and cooperation is facilitated.

The association France Alzheimer provides carers with resources. It runs training programmes and organises "Memory Cafes". These initiatives give carers the opportunity to talk about their daily struggles, close to home, and to obtain advice on how to better manage their situation.
