RESUMO
In this work, bisarsine oxides were evaluated as novel bridging ligands, aiming to develop practical and efficient luminescent lanthanide coordination polymers. We have synthesized one-dimensional (1D) Eu3+ coordination polymers that incorporate bisarsine oxide bridging ligands and hexafluoroacetylacetonate anions. These polymers exhibited a denser packing of chains compared to analogous polymers bridged with bisphosphine oxides. The coordination polymers demonstrated exceptional thermal stability and substantial emission quantum yields. Additionally, the bisarsine oxides induced a pronounced polarization effect, facilitating a sensitive electric dipole transition that yields considerably narrow band red emission. Remarkably, the Eu3+ coordination polymers with bisarsine oxides maintained intense emission even at 550â K. A distinctive feature of these polymers is their heating-induced emission enhancement observed when the temperature was increased from 300â K to 400â K.
RESUMO
Efficient charge injection and radiative recombination are essential to achieving high-performance perovskite light-emitting diodes (Pero-LEDs). However, the perovskite emission layer (EML) and the electron transport layer (ETL) form a poor physically interfacial contact and non-negligible charge injection barrier, limiting the device performance. Herein, we utilize a phosphine oxide, 2,4,6-tris[3-(diphenylphosphinyl)phenyl]-1,3,5-triazine (PO-T2T), to treat the perovskite/ETL interface and form a chemically bonded contact. Specifically, PO-T2T firmly bonds on the perovskite's surface and grain boundaries through a dative bond, effectively passivating the uncoordinated lead defects. Additionally, PO-T2T has high electron mobility and establishes an electron transport highway to bridge the ETL and EML. As a result, a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQEmax) of 22.06% (average EQEmax of 20.02 ± 1.00%) and maximum luminance (Lmax) of 103286 cd m-2 have been achieved for the champion device. Our results indicate that EML/ETL interface modifications are crucial for the fabrication of highly efficient Pero-LEDs.
RESUMO
Efficient ultraviolet (UV) electroluminescent materials remain a great challenge, since short peak wavelength <400â nm and narrow full width at half maximum (FWHM) <50â nm are simultaneously required. In this sense, multi-resonance (MR) thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters featuring narrow-band emissions hold the promise for UV applications. Herein, a novel MR-TADF skeleton featuring carbazole-phosphine oxide (P=O) fused aromatics is developed to construct the first two UV MR emitters named CzP2PO and tBCzP2PO. In addition to synergistic resonance effects of P=O and N atom, sp3 -hybrid P atom renders the curved polycyclic planes of CzP2PO and tBCzP2PO, giving rise to their narrowband UV emissions with peak wavelengths <390â nm and FWHM<35â nm. Besides configuration quasi-planarization for radiation enhancement and quenching suppression, P=O moiety further enhances singlet-triplet coupling to facilitate reverse intersystem crossing, resulting in the state-of-the-art photoluminescence quantum yield of 62 % in tBCzP2PO doped films. As consequence, tBCzP2PO endowed its UV organic light-emitting diodes with the peak at 382â nm and FWHM of 32â nm, and especially the record-high external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 15.1 % among all kinds of UV devices. Our results demonstrate great potential of P=O based MR emitters in practical applications including optoelectronics, biology and medicine science.

Asymmetric catalytic transformations of N-unprotected cyclic carboxyimides such as succinimides, hydantoins, oxazolidinediones, and glitazones, is a powerful way of directly accessing variety of biologically valuable chiral compounds. Herein, a bis(trichlorosilyl) nucleophilic intermediate formed from cyclic carboxyimides was reacted with aldehydes via (S)-SEGPHOS dioxide (SEGPHOSO), proceeding the aldol reaction in highly enantioselective fashion through a cyclic transition state. Furthermore, N-unprotected carboxyimides were chemoselectively activated, even in the presence of N-alkylated carboxyimides, to undergo stereoselective and chemoselective aldol reactions via inâ situ silicon tetrachloride activation. The functionalized cyclic carboxyimides is readily derived to the several synthetic units derivatization to various chiral building blocks without unnecessary protection/deprotection steps.
RESUMO
Recently, surface passivation has been proved to be an essential approach for obtaining efficient and stable perovskite light-emitting diodes (Pero-LEDs). Phosphine oxides performed well as passivators in many reports. However, the most commonly used phosphine oxides are insulators, which may inhibit carrier transport between the perovskite emitter and charge-transporter layers, limiting the corresponding device performance. Here, 2,7-bis(diphenylphosphoryl)-9,9'-spirobifluorene (SPPO13), a conductive molecule with two phosphine oxide functional groups, is introduced to modify the perovskite emitting layer. The bifunctional SPPO13 can passivate the nonradiative defects of perovskite and promote electron injection at the interface of perovskite emitter and electron-transporter layers. As a result, the corresponding Pero-LEDs obtain a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 22.3%. In addition, the Pero-LEDs achieve extremely high brightness with a maximum of around 190â¯000 cd/m2.
RESUMO
Ligands play a critical role in promoting transition-metal-catalyzed C-H activation reactions. However, owing to high sensitivity of the reactivity of C-H activation to metal catalysts, the development of effective ligands has been a formidable challenge in the field. Rh(I)-catalyzed C-H cyclization of benzimidazoles with alkenes has been faced with low reactivity, often requiring very harsh conditions. To address this challenge, a phosphine oxide-enabled Rh(I)-Al bimetallic catalyst was developed for the reaction, significantly promoting the reactivity and allowing the reaction to run at 120 °C with up to 97% yield.

The selective activation of C-F bonds under mild reaction conditions remains an ongoing challenge of bond activation. Here, we present a cooperative [Rh/P(O)nBu2 ] template for catalytic hydrodefluorination (HDF) of perfluoroarenes. In addition to substrates presenting electron-withdrawing functional groups, the system showed an exceedingly rare tolerance for electron-donating functionalities and heterocycles. The high chemoselectivity of the catalyst and its readiness to be deployed at a preparative scale illustrate its practicality. Empirical mechanistic studies and a density functional theory (DFT) study have identified a rhodium(I) dihydride complex as a catalytically relevant species and the determining role of phosphine oxide as a cooperative fragment. Altogether, we demonstrate that molecular templates based on these design elements can be assembled to create catalysts with increased reactivity for challenging bond activations.
RESUMO
Unprecedented Staudinger reaction modes of secondary phosphine oxides (SPO) and organic azides are herein disclosed. By the application of various additives, selective nitrogen atom exclusion from the azide group has been achieved. Chlorotrimethylsilane mediates a stereoretentive Staudinger reaction with a 2-N exclusion which provides a valuable method for the synthesis of phosphinic amides and can be considered complementary to the stereoinvertive Atherton-Todd reaction. Alternatively, a 1-N exclusion pathway is promoted by acetic acid to provide the corresponding diazo compound. The effectiveness of this protocol has been further demonstrated by the total synthesis of the diazo-containing natural product LL-D05139ß, which was prepared as a potassium salt for the first time in 6â steps and 26.5 % overall yield.
RESUMO
ALK gene rearrangements are oncogenic drivers in approximately 5% of NSCLC. Crizotinib, a first generation ALK inhibitor, is widely prescribed for ALK-positive NSCLC in clinic. Resistance to crizotinib and other ALK inhibitors has been problematic. Addressing resistance, here we describe discovery and development of a novel, proprietary spirocyclic diamine-substituted aryl phosphine oxide series of inhibitors, which led to the identification of WX-0593 (16a) as a potent ALK inhibitor. WX-0593 inhibited the activity of both wild type and resistant mutants of ALK in vitro, showed strong antitumor activity in a crizotinib-resistant mouse PDX model. WX-0593 is currently under development in phase II/III clinical trials.

Reaction of [YbCp2(dme)] (Cp = cyclopentadienyl, dme = 1,2 dimethoxyethane) with bis(diphenylphosphano)methane dioxide (H2dppmO2) leads to deprotonation of the ligand H2dppmO2 and oxidation of ytterbium, forming an extremely air-sensitive product, [YbIII(HdppmO2)3] (1), a six-coordinate complex with three chelating (OPCHPO) HdppmO2 ligands. Complex 1 was also obtained by a redox transmetallation/protolysis synthesis from metallic ytterbium, Hg(C6F5)2, and H2dppmO2. In a further preparation, the reaction of [Yb(C6F5)2] with H2dppmO2, not only yielded compound 1, but also gave a remarkable tetranuclear cage, [Yb4(µ-HdppmO2)6(µ-F)6] (2) containing two [Yb(µ-F)]2 rhombic units linked by two fluoride ligands and the tetranuclear unit is encapsulated by six bridging HdppmO2 donors. The fluoride ligands of the cage result from C-F activation of pentafluorobenzene and concomitant formation of p-H2C6F4 and m-H2C6F4, the last being an unexpected product.
RESUMO
In this study, we present results of a detailed topological analysis of electron density (ED) of 145 halogen-bonded complexes formed by various fluorine-, chlorine-, bromine-, and iodine-containing compounds with trimethylphosphine oxide, Me3PO. To characterize the halogen bond (XB) strength, we used the complexation enthalpy, the interatomic distance between oxygen and halogen, as well as the typical set of electron density properties at the bond critical points calculated at B3LYP/jorge-ATZP level of theory. We show for the first time that it is possible to predict the XB strength based on the distance between the minima of ED and molecular electrostatic potential (ESP) along the XB path. The gap between ED and ESP minima exponentially depends on local electronic kinetic energy density at the bond critical point and tends to be a common limiting value for the strongest halogen bond.
RESUMO
We report herein a new family of carbene ligands based on an indolizine-ylidene (Indolizy) moiety. The corresponding gold(I) complexes are easily obtained from the gold(I)-promoted cyclization of allenylpyridine precursors. Evaluation of the electronic properties by experimental methods and also by DFT calculations confirms strong σ-donating and π-accepting properties of these ligands. Cationization of the gold(I) complexes generates catalytic species that trigger diverse reactions of (poly)unsaturated precursors. When armed with a methylene phosphine oxide moiety on the stereogenic center adjacent to the nitrogen atom, the corresponding bifunctional carbene ligands give rise to highly enantioselective heterocyclizations. DFT calculations brought some rationalization and highlighted the critical roles played by the phosphine oxide group and the tosylate anion in the asymmetric cyclization of γ-allenols.
RESUMO
An unprecedented one-pot fully electrochemically driven Wittig olefination reaction system without employing a chemical reductant or sacrificial electrode material to regenerate triphenylphosphine (TPP) from triphenylphosphine oxide (TPPO) and base-free in situ formation of Wittig ylides, is reported. Starting from TPPO, the initial step of the phosphoryl P=O bond activation proceeds through alkylation with RX (R=Me, Et; X=OSO2 CF3 (OTf)), affording the corresponding [Ph3 POR]+ X- salts which undergo efficient electroreduction to TPP in the presence of a substoichiometric amount of the Sc(OTf)3 Lewis acid on a Ag-electrode. Subsequent alkylation of TPP affords Ph3 PR+ which enables a facile and efficient electrochemical in situ formation of the corresponding Wittig ylide under base-free condition and their direct use for the olefination of various carbonyl compounds. The mechanism and, in particular, the intriguing role of Sc3+ as mediator in the TPPO electroreduction been uncovered by density functional theory calculations.
RESUMO
We outline two methodologies to selectively characterize the Brønsted acidity of the external surface of FAU-type zeolites by IR and NMR spectroscopy of adsorbed basic probe molecules. The challenge and goal are to develop reliable and quantitative IR and NMR methodologies to investigate the accessibility of acidic sites in the large pore FAU-type zeolite Y and its mesoporous derivatives often referred to as ultra-stable Y (USY). The accessibility of their Brønsted acid sites to probe molecules (n-alkylamines, n-alkylpyridines, n-alkylphosphine- and phenylphosphine-oxides) of different molecular sizes is quantitatively monitored either by IR or 31 P NMR spectroscopy. It is now possible, for the first time to quantitatively discriminate between the Brønsted acidity located in the microporosity and on the external surface of large pore zeolites. For instance, the number of external acid sites on a Y (LZY-64) zeolite represents 2 % of its total acid sites while that of a USY (CBV760) represents 4 % while the latter has a much lower framework Si/Al ratio.
RESUMO
Carbazole structures are of high interest in photopolymerization due to their enhanced light absorption properties in the near-UV or even visible ranges. Therefore, type I photoinitiators combining the carbazole chromophore to the well-established phosphine-oxides were proposed and studied in this article. The aim of this article was to propose type I photoinitiators that can be more reactive than benchmark phosphine oxides, which are among the more reactive type I photoinitiators for a UV or near-UV light emitting diodes (LED) irradiation. Two molecules were synthesized and their UV-visible light absorption properties as well as the quantum yields of photolysis and photopolymerization performances were measured. Remarkably, the associated absorption was enhanced in the 350-410 nm range compared to benchmark phosphine oxides, and one compound was found to be more reactive in photopolymerization than the commercial photoinitiator TPO-L for an irradiation at 395 nm.

An extensive series of 128 halogen-bonded complexes formed by trimethylphosphine oxide and various F-, Cl-, Br-, I- and At-containing molecules, ranging in energy from 0 to 124 kJ/mol, is studied by DFT calculations in vacuum. The results reveal correlations between R-Xâ â â O=PMe3 halogen bond energy ΔE, Xâ â â O distance r, halogen's σ-hole size, QTAIM parameters at halogen bond critical point and changes of spectroscopic parameters of phosphine oxide upon complexation, such as 31P NMR chemical shift, ΔδP, and P=O stretching frequency, Δν. Some of the correlations are halogen-specific, i.e., different for F, Cl, Br, I and At, such as ΔE(r), while others are general, i.e., fulfilled for the whole set of complexes at once, such as ΔE(ΔδP). The proposed correlations could be used to estimate the halogen bond properties in disordered media (liquids, solutions, polymers, glasses) from the corresponding NMR and IR spectra.

Extensive DFT calculations provide detailed mechanistic insights into the metal-free reduction of phosphine oxide Ph3 P=O by using chlorination reagents O=CClX (X=COCl, Cl, OCCl3 and Ph) and H2 . Fast electrophilic attack to the P=O group oxygen atom is favored by exergonic CO2 release to form phosphonium Ph3 PCl+ and chloride Cl- , which may slowly cleave H2 by an unstable HPh3 PCl complex yielding Ph3 PH+ and Cl- ions in solution. Moderate heating is required to accelerate the slow H2 -activation step and to eliminate HCl to form phosphine Ph3 P instead of Ph3 PH+ Cl- salt as the desired product. Though partially quenched by Ph3 P (and reactant Ph3 P=O if present), borane B(2,6-F2 C6 H3 )3 can be still combined with Cl- and Ph3 P as reactive frustrated Lewis pair (FLP) catalysts.
RESUMO
Chiral phosphine oxides successfully catalyze asymmetric cross-aldol reactions of various carbonyl compounds in a highly enantioselective manner. The phosphine oxide catalysts coordinate to chlorosilanes to form chiral hypervalent silicon complexes in situ, which activate both aldol donors and acceptors, thus realizing cross-aldol reactions between a ketone and an aldehyde, between two aldehydes, between two ketones, and of 2,6-diketones. The use of phosphine oxide catalysis can be further extended to achieve the first catalytic enantioselective double aldol reactions, realizing one-pot stereoselective construction of up to four stereogenic centers.

RESUMO
As an example of acyclic P-chiral phosphine oxides, the resolution of ethyl-(2-methylphenyl)-phenylphosphine oxide was elaborated with TADDOL derivatives, or with calcium salts of the tartaric acid derivatives. Besides the study on the resolving agents, several purification methods were developed in order to prepare enantiopure ethyl-(2-methylphenyl)-phenylphosphine oxide. It was found that the title phosphine oxide is a racemic crystal-forming compound, and the recrystallization of the enantiomeric mixtures could be used for the preparation of pure enantiomers. According to our best method, the (R)-ethyl-(2-methylphenyl)-phenylphosphine oxide could be obtained with an enantiomeric excess of 99% and in a yield of 47%. Complete racemization of the enantiomerically enriched phosphine oxide could be accomplished via the formation of a chlorophosphonium salt. Characterization of the crystal structures of the enantiopure phosphine oxide was complemented with that of the diastereomeric intermediate. X-ray analysis revealed the main nonbonding interactions responsible for enantiomeric recognition.
