RESUMO

The perinatal period is a time of significant adjustment for mothers, which may lead to alterations in mood that affect maternal mental health, which may also impact child development. The current article details the effectiveness of the addition of a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) and mental health training for nurses on the anxiety and depression screening scores of mothers enrolled in a home visitation program. For clients with elevated anxiety and depression scores, the percentages of those who were referred to and received mental health services increased after the program's addition of the PMHNP and mental health training. Implications for future research and practice include continued focus on maternal mental health with improved access to assessment and treatment for all clients within home visitation. RESUMO

Anxiety is one of the most prevalent psychological conditions in the pediatric population, and its associated impairments often persist into adulthood. Pediatricians are in a unique position to screen, briefly intervene, and facilitate treatment to prevent long-term impacts. However, they often do not have adequate training to do so. The current study addressed this gap by providing a brief online educational workshop aimed to promote: (1) screening for anxiety and (2) follow-up with appropriate evidence-based interventions. Fifty-three providers participated, and 38 completed surveys pre- and post-training. Findings indicate acceptability of the training to providers, improved knowledge related to anxiety, and increased readiness to manage anxiety during a medical visit. This study supports the utility of a brief, online training on screening and provision of evidence-based treatment for anxiety in pediatric primary care.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Art therapy (AT) has been widely utilized as a therapeutic approach for clinical nurses. In recent years, more and more researchers have applied art therapy to enhance clinical nurses' mental well-being. However, many studies conducted in this area have suffered from limited sample sizes and insufficient research evidence. AIM: This study aims to conduct a systematic evaluation of the efficacy of art therapy on the mental health of clinical nurses. METHODS: RCTs on art therapy for clinical nurses were searched across databases such as PubMed, Embase, etc., the results were analysed using RevMan 5.3. RESULTS: There were 19 RCTs encompassing 1338 clinical nurses involved in this analysis. The Meta-analysis revealed that art therapy exhibited a significant reduction in anxiety levels (measured by the SAS) among clinical nurses, as well as depression levels and perceived stress levels (measured by the CPSS). Furthermore, art therapy demonstrated a reduction in negative coping style and an improvement in positive coping style. DISCUSSION: Findings indicate that art therapy can reduce anxiety, depression and stress levels in clinical nurses, while also enhance positive coping styles and promote mental well-being. Therefore, the widespread implementation of art therapy in this context is highly recommended. DECLARATION: I hereby declare that my article is directly relevant to the field of mental health nursing. It highlights the critical importance of psychological well-being and supplements the evidence on The effects of art therapy on the occupational mental health of clinical nurses.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Healthcare workers (HCWs) have been significantly impacted by the pandemic. Elderly health care workers carry out a variety of duties at work and have years of clinical expertise. Anxiety and insomnia are among the more commonly encountered problems in senior physicians and other geriatric medical professional populations. OBJECTIVE: The study aims to determine the effect of vagal nerve stimulation on anxiety and sleep disturbances among geriatric medical professionals. METHODS: 42 participants were enrolled in this study based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The participants were divided into two groups using the closed envelope approach, and they took part in therapy sessions lasting 30 minutes, three times per week for a period of four weeks. The Experimental group A received non-invasive transcutaneous auricular vagal nerve stimulation (taVNS) and Control group A received Jacobson's progressive muscle relaxation technique. RESULTS: With a p value of 0.001, taVNS stimulation significantly improved sleep quality and reduced anxiety after 4 weeks. The post-intervention assessment revealed a highly significant improvement in Group A, with a T value of 251 (p < 0.001). CONCLUSION: The findings suggest that taVNS may be an effective intervention for addressing anxiety and sleep issues in geriatric medical professionals. These results contribute to the exploration of non-invasive strategies to enhance the well-being of healthcare professionals working in demanding environments.
