In Brazil, the setbacks generated by the capitalist crisis in the scope of social rights and social policies have intensified in the context of the health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which exposed social inequalities and consequently has led to the growth of social and healthneeds segments of the population. This situation has presented challenges to be faced in the sphere of intervention, science, higher education, research and training, with emphasis on professional training in and in Social Service. It is in this context that we seek to reflect on the professional training of social workers, taking place at the interfaces between the educational process of and at the university, and we do so mediated by the challenge of building proposals for facing this context of crisis of capitalism and of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is an analytical and conceptual discussion based on the specialized literature on the subject
