Atuação dos enfermeiros frente à política nacional de atenção integral a saúde do homem: um estudo exploratório / The role of nurses in the nationail policy of integral health care for men: an exploratory study
The non-adherence of men to health services is a challenge for nursing. The barrier of male resistance must be overcome regarding preventive care, encouraging continuous care habits and costumes among such population before reaching the tertiary care level. This study also aims at knowing how nurses develop the National Health CarePolicy for Men. This is a descriptive-exploratory research with a qualitative approach carried out with nurseswhowork at primary care. Data was collected from April to July 2015 using semi-structured interviews, which were recorded and transcribed. The number of participants was determined using the data saturation criterion and the discourses were analyzed using the Bardin content analysistechnique. According to the nurses' discourse, three categories could be defined the nurses' training and knowledge in relation to the National Health CarePolicy for Men; the health of men in nurses' training; and the demand of malehealth care and actions developed in the city. The study respected the ethical aspects in compliance with Resolution No. 466, from 2012 issued by the National Health Council. The study showed the need to foster changes on how to address this population, searching for trainingnurses to broaden their view on the process of diseases in the malepopulation to aid in the promotion of actions and strategies that can attract men to health centers.
