الملخص

Trypanosoma evansi is commonly referred to as haemoflagellate infesting camels and other vertebrates. It is causative agent of number of diseases. T. evansi has several morphological forms. We have detected three forms in the blood of camels, slender, transitional and intermediate. The present study is the first investigation on the morphological forms of T. evansi in Arabian camels in Saudi Arabia

الملخص

This study represented a new host and geographic location for the parasite Caryospora maxima. Sporulated oocysts of this coccidian are spherical to sub-spherical, 42.8 X 41.2 [40.3-45.9 X 39.6-43.8] mum, with smooth brownish-yellow bi-layered wall, 1.9 [1.5-2.3] mum thickness. Micropyle and oocyst residuum are absent. Some oocysts had a small polar granule. Sporocysts are broadly ellipsoid, 22.1 X 16.8 [21.0-23.3 x 15.5-17.4]mum, with a prominent stieda and sub- stieda bodies. Sporocyst residuum is present consisting of many granules in a compact mass. Sporozoites are banana-shaped, each with two refractile globules. Oocyst measurements were similar to those reported from Psammophis schokari in Jordan. Except for the presence of a spherical polar granule, the oocyst morphology was identical to the original description of C. maxima

Micropyle is absent, but a single, spherical polar body is present. Oocysts residuum is present as coarse granular sphere. Sporocyst is ovoid 10.8 x 7.5 [10.1 - 11.7 x 6.8 - 8.1]. Stieda body is present, but sub and parastieda bodies are absent. Sporozoites are elongated laying head to tail in the sporocyst each with a large spherical refractile globule. E. Chiropteri is the 4th species from the genus Eimeria detected in bats of the genus Pipistrellus

الملخص

Large numbers of coccidian oocysts belonging to the genus Isospora were obtained from the intestinal contents of 10 legless lizards Diplometopon zarudnyi was collected from eastern region, Saudi Arabia. The oocysts are spherical to subspherical with a bilayered wall. Micropyle, polar granule and oocyst residuum were absent. The sporocysts are ellipsoid. A sporocyst residuum, stieda and substieda bodies were presented. Sporozoites are banana shaped, blunt at one end and tapered at the other and containing spherical anterior and posterior refractile bodies of the same size. Since this Isospora sp. does not resemble any other species of Isospora previously described from lizards of the genus Diplometopon, it has been identified as Isospora diplometoponi n. sp. after the host generic name
