ABSTRACT

Objective: To analyze the prevalence and risk factors of self-reported cancer in adults in China in 2015. Methods: The data used in this study were from China Chronic Disease and Risk Factors Surveillance in 2015. The frequency and proportion of the classified variables were analyzed by descriptive statistics, the disordered classified variables were compared by χ2 test, and the possible risk factors of cancer patients were screened by univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses. Results: In 2015, there were 1 809 self-reported tumors patients in China, including 689 males (0.63%), 1 120 females (1.03%), 769 (0.71%) in the eastern region, 465 (0.43%) in the central region and 575 (0.53%) in the western region. The patients were mainly distributed in people aged 45- and 55- years old, being overweight or obese, living in eastern urban area, having low education level, being married, having low annual household income and being occupational population. The results of multivariate logistic regression showed that compared with the western region, the prevalence rate of cancer was higher in the eastern region (OR=1.05, 95%CI: 1.04-1.06), while lower in the central region (OR=0.94, 95%CI: 0.93-0.95); the risk for cancer in people with family history of malignancy was higher than that in people without family history of malignancy (OR=1.95, 95%CI:1.94-1.96) the risk for cancer in people with an annual household income of less than 10 000 yuan or between 10 000 and 50 000 yuan was higher than that in people with an annual household income of more than 50 000 yuan (<10 000 yuan: OR=1.59, 95%CI: 1.58-1.60; between 10 000 and 50 000 yuan: OR=1.27, 95%CI: 1.26-1.28); and the risk for cancer in people living urban areas was lower than that in people living in rural areas (OR=0.98, 95%CI: 0.97-0.99). In terms of personal behavior and diet, the risk for cancer in smokers was 1.25 times higher than that in non-smokers (OR=1.25, 95%CI: 1.24-1.26), and the risk for cancer in alcoholics was 1.16 times higher than that in non-alcoholics (OR=1.16, 95%CI: 1.15-1.17), the risk for cancer in people with insufficient vegetable and fruit intakes was 1.29 times and 1.03 times higher than those in people with sufficient intakes of vegetables and fruits, respectively (OR=1.29, 95%CI: 1.28-1.30;OR=1.03,95%CI: 1.02-1.04). People with low frequency of high-intensity exercise had a higher risk for cancer compared with those with high frequency of high-intensity exercise (OR=1.32, 95%CI: 1.31-1.33), the risk for cancer was higher in people with low frequency of moderate exercise than in people with high frequency of moderate exercise (OR=1.08, 95%CI: 1.07-1.09). The risk for cancer in people with sedentary time less than 2 hours was higher than that in those with sedentary time more than 2 hours (OR=1.69, 95%CI: 1.68-1.70), and the risk for cancer in people who ate moderate amount of red meat was lower than that in people who ate excessive amount of red meat (OR=0.86, 95%CI: 0.85-0.87). Conclusions: The number of female self-reported cancer was more than that in males, and the number of self-reported cancer in the eastern region was higher than that in the central and western regions. Living in eastern region, with family history of malignancy, having low annual household income, smoking, drinking, insufficient vegetable intake, insufficient fruit intake and low frequency of high-intensity exercise and low frequency of moderate intensity exercise were the main risk factors for cancer, while living in central region, living in urban area and low red meat intake were protective factors.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the effect of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) on the status of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, and provide data for clarifying the relationship between autoimmunity and infection.Methods:SLE patients in the department of rheumatology and immunology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University from January 2016 to December 2019 were screened. A retrospective case-control study was carried out. SLE patients with positive hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) were gender and age matched with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) in a 1∶4 ratio. Chi-square test was used to compared the positive rates of hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) and Paired-Samples t test or Signed rank Wilcoxon test was used to compare the HBV DNA load and HBsAg titer. Results:The positive rate of HBsAg in SLE patients was lower than the prevalence rate of HBsAg in general population in the second Chinese National Hepatitis Seroepidemiological Survey in 2006 [2.2%(27/1 227) vs 7.2%], but the positive rate of HBcAb was not obviously different from that in general population in China [33.9%(416/1 227) vs 34.1%]. Compared with matched CHB patients, the positive rate of HBeAg [37.0%(10/27) vs 58.3%(63/108), χ2=3.94, P=0.047], the HBV DNA load [0(0, 3.7) lg U/ml vs 4.8(2.2, 3.7) lg U/ml, Z=-5.37, P<0.001] and HBsAg titer [(2.0±1.5) lg U/ml vs (3.3±1.1) lg U/ml, t=-4.26, P<0.001] in SLE patients were lower. Conclusion:The HBV infection status of SLE patients is different from that of patients with chronic hepatitis B and the HBV infection is more likely to be controlled.

@#Due to the complex components of polysorbate 80, analysis is time-consuming and labor-intensive, so there is an urgent need to find a method for rapid analysis of polysorbate 80 components.In this study, 10 batches of samples collected from 3 domestic and foreign enterprises were analyzed by UHPLC-HRMS, with the being further results were analyzed by the ExcipientProfiler software and supplemented by the extended database.The results showed that the ExcipientProfiler software could quickly identify the [M+Na]+ peak in the mass spectrogram, and obtain the information of component distribution, the numbers of components and the degree of polymerization of the sample.Meanwhile, the numbers of components obtained by the ExcipientProfiler software could be used to distinguish the injection grade samples from the ordinary grade samples by systematic clustering analysis.In addition, it was found through further supplement that the sample contained other fatty acid ester components by manually searching the relevant extended database.The polyoxyethylene sorbitan tetraoleate components were found in the sample according to the analysis of mass spectrum data.Therefore, although this method is fast and simple, it is necessary to add polyoxyethylene sorbitan tetraoleate components and other fatty acid ester components to further supplement the information in the ExcipientProfiler software, so that it can be better used for the analysis of polysorbate 80.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the expressions and clinical significances of breast cancer susceptibility gene 1 (BRCA1) and tubulin β3 (TUBB3) in patients with gastric cancer, so as to provide a basis for accurate diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer.Methods:The data of 46 hospitalized patients with gastric cancer who underwent gastroscopebiopsy or operation in Maanshan People's Hospital in Anhui Province from December 2018 to May 2020 were collected. The expressions of BRCA1 and TUBB3 in tumor tissues and peritumoral tissues were determined by immunohistochemistry. Real-time fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was used to detect BRCA1 and TUBB3 mRNA expressions in tumor tissues and peritumoral tissues. The correlations between expressions of BRCA1 and TUBB3 in gastric cancer tissues and clinicopathologic features were analyzed.Results:The positive rates of BRCA1 and TUBB3 proteins in gastric cancer tissues were higher than those in peritumoral tissues [43.5% (20/46) vs. 16.7% (5/30), 65.2% (30/46) vs. 6.7% (2/30), both P < 0.05]. qRT-PCR showed that the relative expression of BRCA1 mRNA in gastric cancer tissues was higher than that in peritumoral tissues (15.5±6.8 vs. 5.0±1.6, t = 9.41, P < 0.01); the relative expression of TUBB3 mRNA in gastric cancer tissues was higher than that in peritumoral tissues (22.1±6.3 vs. 5.7±1.9, t = 3.51, P < 0.01). The positive rate of TUBB3 protein in female patients was lower than that in male patients [15.4% (2/13) vs. 84.8% (28/33)], the positive rate of BRCA1 protein in patients with positive human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) was higher than that in patients with negative HER2 [87.5% (7/8) vs. 47.4% (18/38)], the positive rate of BRCA1 protein in patients with family history was higher than that in patients without family history [85.7% (6/7) vs. 35.9% (14/39)], and the differences were statistically significant (all P < 0.05). The positive expressions of BRCA1 and TUBB3 proteins in gastric cancer tissues were both correlated with tumor stage and differentiation (all P < 0.05), and the expressions of BRCA1 and TUBB3 proteins were correlated ( χ2 = 33.52, P < 0.01). Conclusions:BRCA1 and TUBB3 may be related to the occurrence and development of gastric cancer, and there may be a certain relationship between BRCA1 and TUBB3, BRCA1 and HER2. BRCA1 and TUBB3 may have significances in the diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To evaluate the effects of intrathecal morphine and fentanyl on interferon (IFN)-γ levels in hippocampus and plasma of rats with incisional pain.Methods:Ninety-six healthy male Sprague-Dawley rats in which intrathecal catheters were successfully inserted, weighing 180-220 g, aged 6-8 weeks, were divided into 4 groups ( n=24 each) using a random number table method: normal saline group (group NS), incisional pain group (group P), morphine and fentanyl group (group MF) and morphine and fentanyl with incisional pain group (group MFP). Incisional pain model was established in group P and group MFP.At 20 min before the model was established, a 50 μl mixture of morphine 5 μg/kg and fentanyl 0.25 μg/kg was intrathecally injected in group MF and group MFP, while normal saline 50 μl was injected intrathecally in group NS and group P. At 24 h before establishment of the model (T 0) and at 1, 6, 24, 48 and 72 h after establishment of the model (T 1-5), 6 mice were randomly selected from each group for determination of the mechanical paw withdrawal threshold (MWT) and thermal paw withdrawal latency (TWL). The animals were sacrificed and hippocampal tissues and blood samples from the inferior vena cava were collected for determination of IFN-γ levels in hippocampal tissues and plasma (by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay). Results:Compared with group NS, MWT was significantly decreased and TWL was shortened at T 1-5, and IFN-γ concentration in plasma was decreased at T 2, 3 and T 5 in group P, MWT was increased and TWL was prolonged at T 1-3 in group MF, MWT was decreased and TWL was shortened at T 1-3 in group MFP, and IFN-γ concentration in plasma was decreased at T 2 in MF and MFP groups ( P<0.05). Compared with group P, MWT was increased, TWL was prolonged at T 1-5, and IFN-γ concentration in plasma was increased at T 2, 3 and T 5 in MF and MFP groups ( P<0.05). Compared with group MF, MWT was decreased and TWL was shortened at T 1-4, and IFN-γ concentration in plasma was increased at T 2 and T 3 in MFP ( P<0.05). There was no significant difference in IFN-γ concentration at each time point among the 4 groups ( P>0.05). Conclusion:Intrathecal morphine and fentanyl can increase plasma IFN-γ concentration, and improve peripheral immunosuppression.

The development of DNA radiation damage detection technology is helpful for researchers to assess the extent of biological radiation damage and to diagnose and treat patients with nuclear radiation. In this paper, the domestic and abroad research progress in DNA radiation damage detection methods was reviewed, in which the principles, functions, advantages and disadvantages of relevant detection methods were described, and the future development direction of DNA radiation damage detection methods was prospected.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the frequency of myeloid dendritic cells (mDC) and plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDC) in peripheral blood of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and their relationship with renal injury.Methods:The frequency of peripheral mDC and pDC in 102 SLE patients and 10 healthy controls were detected by flow cytometry. The quantitative data were expressed by [ M( P25, P75)]. The measurement data of the two groups with non-normal distribution was analyzed by Mann Whitney U test. The correlation between the two groups was analyzed by Spearman rank correlation analysis and multiple linear regression. Results:The frequency of pDC [14.00%(7.92%, 19.65%) vs 24.55%(19.68%, 32.90%), Z=-3.163, P<0.01] and mDC [21.25%(13.28%, 32.83%) vs 34.85%(24.58%, 41.93%), Z=-2.607, P<0.01] in the peripheral blood of 102 patients with SLE were significantly lower than those of healthy controls. The frequency of pDC [9.09%(7.31%, 17.38%) vs 24.55%(19.68%, 32.90%), Z=-3.033, P=<0.01] and mDC [9.40%(7.88%, 21.60%) vs 34.85%(24.58%, 41.93%), Z=-3.231, P<0.01] in 12 patients with newly diagnosed SLE were also significantly lower than those in healthy controls. After adjustedfor confounding factors, multivariate analysis showed that SLEDAI level was the main factor influencing the frequency of pDC ( P=0.019) and mDC ( P<0.01). In addition, pDC[8.02%(2.25%, 9.97%) vs 16.70%(11.80%, 24.60%), Z=-2.490, P=0.015] and mDC[8.80%(5.99%, 12.80%) vs 20.20%(11.20%, 42.80%), Z=-2.226, P=0.029] in patients with active LN were also significantly lower than that of patients with stable LN. The mDC frequency was positively correlated with the levels of complement C3 ( r=0.455, P<0.01) and C4 ( r= 0.289, P, P<0.01). Conclusion:The frequency of mDC and pDC in SLE patients is significantly abnormal, which is closely related to disease activity. In addition, pDC and mDC may be involved in the occurrence and development of LN.

ABSTRACT

The present study investigated the differences in pharmacokinetics and intestinal absorption of six alkaloids in Sanmiao Pills and Simiao Pills in rats and explored the different efficacies of the two formulae. After oral administration of Sanmiao Pills and Simiao Pills in rats, blood samples were collected at different time points. Samples were prepared for the determination of six alkaloids in plasma by UPLC-MS/MS. The chromatography was performed on an ACE Excel 3 C_(18 )column with acetonitrile-0.1% formic acid in water as the mobile phase for gradient elution. Analytes were detected in the positive ion mode. Plasma concentrations and pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated. Intestinal absorption of alkaloids was investigated by single-pass intestinal perfusion and absorption parameters of ingredients were calculated. The results showed that the UPLC-MS/MS method for simultaneous determination of concentrations of six alkaloids in plasma was developed and validated by methodological investigations, such as specificity, calibration curves, precision, accuracy, recovery, matrix effect, and stability. The results of the pharmacokinetic assay revealed that C_(max) and AUC values of phellodendrine, berberine, magnoflorine, berberrubine, and jatrorrhizine in Simiao Pills were significantly increased, and CL/F values were reduced as compared with those in Sanmiao Pills, which indicated the increase in plasma concentrations of alkaloids. The intestinal absorption parameters K_(a )and P_(eff) values of phellodendrine, berberine, and jatrorrhizine in Simiao Pills were higher than those in Sanmiao Pills. The intestinal absorption and plasma concentrations of alkaloids in Simiao Pills were significantly higher than those in Sanmiao Pills, suggesting that the composition of Simiao Pills was more conducive to the alkaloids into the blood to resist inflammation and lower uric acid.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND@#Functional dyspepsia (FD) has rarely been investigated in areas with a high prevalence of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). This study aims to reveal the epidemiological and clinical features of FD and organic dyspepsia (OD) in such a population.@*METHODS@#A middle-aged and elderly population-based study was conducted in a region with a high incidence of ESCC. All participants completed the Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease Questionnaire and Functional Gastrointestinal Disease Rome III Diagnostic Questionnaire, and they underwent gastroscopy. After exclusion of gastroesophageal reflux disease, uninvestigated dyspepsia (UID) was divided into OD and FD for further analyses.@*RESULTS@#A total of 2916 participants were enrolled from July 2013 to March 2014 in China. We detected 166 UID cases with questionnaires, in which 17 patients with OD and 149 with FD were diagnosed via gastroscopy. OD cases presented as reflux esophagitis (RE), ESCC, and duodenal ulcer. Heartburn (52.94%) and reflux (29.41%) were common in OD, but no symptomatic differences were found between FD and OD. Male sex, low education level, and liquid food were the risk factors for OD, while frequent fresh vegetable consumption was a protective factor. FD included 56 (37.58%) cases of postprandial distress syndrome (PDS), 52 (34.89%) of epigastric pain syndrome (EPS), nine (6.04%) of PDS + EPS, and 32 (21.48%) of FD + functional esophageal disorders. The Helicobacter pylori infection rate in FD patients was not higher than that in the control group (34.23% vs. 42.26%, P = 0.240). Frequent spicy food consumption was associated with PDS (odds ratio [OR]: 2.088, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.028-4.243), while consumption of deep well water was protective for PDS (OR: 0.431, 95% CI: 0.251-0.741).@*CONCLUSIONS@#The prevalence of FD was 5.11% in the studied population. Gastroscopy should be prescribed for dyspepsia patients in case that ESCC and RE would be missed in UID cases diagnosed solely by the Rome III questionnaire.@*TRIAL REGISTRATION@#ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT01688908; https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/record/NCT01688908.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To observe the effect of transplanting neural stem cells (NSCs) and nerve growth factor (NGF) nanoparticles on hippocampal synaptophysin (SYN) levels in APP/PS1 double-transgenic mice and on their behavior.Methods:NSCs from the brains of transgenic mouse fetuses were cultured in vitro. Twenty-four 12-month-old male APP/PS1 mice with Alzhaimer′s disease (AD ) were randomly divided into an NSC combined with NGF transplantation group (NSCs+ NGF-NP group), an NSC transplantation group (NSCs group) and an AD control group (AD group), each of 8. Another 8 healthy male counterparts formed a normal control group (WT group). The rats in the NSCs+ NGF-NP and NSCs groups had NSCs combined with NGF nanoparticles or NSCs alone injected into their brains, while the bilateral hippocampi of the other two groups were injected with the same volume of phosphate buffer. Four weeks later the Morris water maze test was used to quantify the rats′ learning and memory functioning. The migration and differentiation of the transplanted cells were measured using fluorescence immunohistochemistry, while the level of synaptophysin protein in the hippocampus was detected using western blotting.Results:Neurospheres cultured in vitro showed positive expression of enhanced green fluorescent protein(EGFP) and nestin, which are specific markers of neural stem cells. Four weeks after the transplantation, cells traced using EGFP had survived and migrated to the corpus callosum and deep into the hippocampus and dentate gyrus. Transplanted cells had differentiated into DCX-positive neurons and GFAP-positive glial cells. The samples from the NSCs+ NGF-NP group showed a larger number of viable cells with longer protrusions, and some had crossed the hippocampal granular layer. The average synaptophysin levels in the WT, NSCs and NSCs+ NGF-NP groups were significantly higher than that of the AD group. The average synaptophysin level of the NSCs+ NGF-NP group was significantly higher than in the NSCs group but not significantly different from the WT group′s average. The Morris water maze results showed that compared with the AD group the time in the platform quadrant and the platform crossing times increased significantly in the WT, NSCs and NSCs+ NGF-NP groups. The average platform crossing time of the NSCs+ NGF-NP group was greater than that of the NSCs group but not significantly different from the WT group′s average.Conclusion:Injecting NSCs combined with NGF nanoparticles can promote the survival and maturation of the transplanted cells in vivo, increase hippocampal synapses, and thus improve learning and memory, at least in AD mice.

Objective:To investigate the effect of predictive nursing intervention on immune function, psychological state and self-efficacy of patients with advanced gastric cancer (AGC) in tumor immunotherapy.Methods:Fifty patients with AGC who underwent tumor immunotherapy from February 2016 to November 2018 were enrolled in the study. They were divided into two groups according to the principle of numerical randomization. The control group (25 cases) was routinely used. In the nursing mode, the observation group (25 cases) used predictive nursing intervention. The venous blood was collected at the time of admission, 1 day and 2 days before discharge, and the T lymphocyte subsets were measured. The Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), the Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS), Self-Efficacy Scale, and Quality of Life were used to assess the patient's mental state, subjective feelings, and quality of life.Results:There were no significant differences in CD 3+, CD 4+, CD 8+ and CD 4+/CD 8+ between the two groups before intervention ( P>0.05). CD 3+, CD 4+, CD 8+ and CD 4+/CD 8+ after intervention was 0.576 3±0.071 7, 0.496 3±0.067 7, 0.292 1±0.061 4, 1.75±0.48 in the observation group and 0.552 4±0.074 2, 0.489 2±0.070 4, 0.294 1±0.062 5, 1.63±0.51 in the control group. There were significant differences in CD 3+, CD 4+, and CD 4+/CD 8+ between the two groups after intervention ( t values were 3.158, 1.954, 2.347, all P<0.05). There was no significant difference in SAS and SDS scores between the two groups before intervention ( P>0.05). The SAS, SDS score after intervention in the observation group was (51.4±4.2), (50.8±3.5) points, and (55.7±3.6), (56.5±4.0) points in the control group, there was significant difference between the two groups ( t values were 3.887, 5.362, all P<0.01). There was no significant difference in self-efficacy between the two groups and the total score ( P>0.05). The total score of self-efficacy after intervention was (137.7±14.4) in the observation group, and (121.5±11.8) points in the control group, there was significant difference between the two groups( t value was 4.351, P<0.01). The quality of life score was (52.5±13.4) points in the observation group and (45.3±11.0) points in the control group, there was significant difference between the two groups ( t value was 2.077, P<0.05). The excellent and good rate of the quality of life score was 76.0%(19/25) in the observation group, and 56.0%(14/25) in the control group, there was no significant difference between the two groups ( χ2 value was 2.228, P>0.05). Conclusions:Tumor immunotherapy for the treatment of patients with AGC uses predictive care and significantly relieves their mental state and self-efficacy, promotes the recovery of their physical functions and improves the quality of life.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To evaluate the efficacy and safety of less invasive surfactant administration (LISA) in the treatment of neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (NRDS).@*METHODS@#PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, China Biology Medicine disc, China Scientific Journal Database, CNKI Database, and Wanfang Database were searched for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on the use of LISA strategy in the treatment of NRDS. Literature screening and quality assessment were performed according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Review Manager 5.3 software was used to perform the Meta analysis.@*RESULTS@#A total of 9 RCTs were included, with a total of 1 212 children with NRDS. There were 611 children in the experimental group (treated with LISA strategy) and 601 children in the control group [treated with intubation-surfactant-extubation (INSURE) strategy]. The Meta analysis showed that the use of LISA strategy reduced the rate of mechanical ventilation within 72 hours after birth (OR=0.39, 95%CI: 0.29-0.51, P0.05). There was no significant difference in the rate of repeated use of pulmonary surfactant (PS) between the two groups (P>0.05), but there was a higher incidence rate of PS reflux observed by LISA strategy (OR=2.60, 95%CI: 1.64-4.12, P<0.001).@*CONCLUSIONS@#Compared with INSURE strategy, LISA strategy has advantages in reducing the need for mechanical ventilation and the incidence rates of bronchopulmonary dysplasia and pneumothorax in children with NRDS.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the effect of Yisui Jiedu prescription on hippocampal neuron damage in vascular dementia (VD) rats and to regulate phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (Akt)/recombinant Bcl-2 associated death promoter (Bad) mechanisms of signaling pathways of neuronal apoptosis. Method:The 40 SD rats were divided into sham operation group, model group, donepezil hydrochloride group and Yisui Jiedu prescription group, with 10 rats in each group.VD animal model was prepared by bilateral carotid artery permanent ligation (2-VO) method.The sham operation group and the model group were intragastrically administered with normal saline, the donepezil hydrochloride group was intragastrically administered with donepezil hydrochloride 0.52 mg·kg-1. The Yisui Jiedu prescription group was administered with Yisui Jiedu prescription (11.11 g·kg-1), 1 time/d . After 30 days, Morris water maze was used to test the learning and memory ability of rats, hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining was used to observe the histomorphological structure of hippocampal CA1 region. Ultrasound of neuron in rat hippocampal CA1 region was observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM).Real-time fluorescent quantitative(Real-time PCR) was used to detect the Akt, Bad mRNA expression.Western blot was used to detect the Akt, p-Akt and Bad protein expression in hippocampus. Result:Compared with sham operation group, the learning and memory ability of model group decreased significantly(P<0.05). The pathological structure and neuronal ultrastructure of the hippocampus were changed obviously. Hippocampal tissue Akt mRNA and the Akt,p-Akt protein expression level decreased significantly(P<0.05), and the levels of Bad mRNA and protein were significantly increased (P<0.05). Compared with model group, Yisui Jiedu prescription group can significantly improve the learning and memory ability of rats, improve the neuronal cells and ultrastructural changes in hippocampal CA1 area,and increase the expression of Akt mRNA and Akt,p-Akt protein in hippocampus. Decreased Bad mRNA and Bad protein expression levels (P<0.05). Conclusion:Yisui Jiedu prescription can significantly improve the learning and memory ability of VD rats, improve the ultrastructural pathological changes of hippocampus and neurons, and repair damaged neurons, which may promote Akt phosphorylation and activate PI3K/Akt/Bad. The signaling pathway plays a role in the defense of neurons against apoptosis.

The minimum amount of tooth preparation that can be fully controlled is crucial in achieving long-term, stable, and effective aesthetic restoration, which is also a major difficulty in aesthetic restoration. The tooth preparation can be imple-mented efficiently and accurately through digital technology based on the fixed-deep hole guiding technology. Prior the actual tooth preparation, the technology first designs the virtual contour, layering, and virtual occlusion of the prosthesis on the computer. Then, virtual tooth preparation is carried out by cutting back according to the virtual prosthesis. Next, the virtual drilling operation plan is designed according to the shape of the virtual tooth preparation and the contour of the abutment tooth. Finally, the tooth preparation guide plate is designed and printed in 3D. It realizes the whole process of quantitative and precise guidance of dental preparation, visualizes the restoration space, reduces the clinical operation time, and guarantees the quality of dental preparation. It also promotes the improvement of the teaching quality of digital practical exercises.

ABSTRACT

Background@#The exact relationship between gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and esophageal squamous cell cancer (ESCC) is far from clarification. The aim of this study was to investigate the epidemiology of GERD in a region with high prevalence of ESCC in China.@*Methods@#A population-based, cross-sectional study was conducted in a high ESCC prevalent area, Anyang, Henan, China. All subjects fulfilled questionnaires and underwent gastroendoscopy with routine esophageal biopsy. The subjects were divided into GERD subtypes (reflux esophagitis [RE] and non-erosive reflux disease [NERD]) and controls. Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated to examine risk factors for RE and NERD.@*Results@#A total of 2844 subjects were finally enrolled. The prevalence of GERD (RE + NERD) was 17.3%. Among them, 271 (9.53%) adults were diagnosed with RE. The prevalence of RE increased with age (7.09% in 45–50 years, 8.00% in 51–60 years, and 9.53% in 61–69 years, χ2 = 62.216, P < 0.001). Sixty-seven (2.36%) subjects were diagnosed with the silent RE. A total of 221 (7.77%) subjects were diagnosed with NERD. Frequent liquid food consumption (OR [95% CI]: 1.502 [1.076–2.095]) was independent risk factor for RE as well as age, male gender, high body mass index (BMI), ever smoking. Age was independent risk factor for NERD. For silent RE, age, male gender, and frequent liquid food consumption were risk factors.@*Conclusions@#In the population with high prevalence of ESCC, a high prevalence of GERD and inverted proportion of RE/NERD were presented. Age was an independent risk factor for GERD. The male gender, high BMI, smoking, and frequent liquid food consumption may be risk factors for RE but not for NERD.

Methods:From June, 2016 to September, 2017, 60 inpatients with ischemic stroke were randomly divided into sham rTMS group (n = 19), 3 Hz-rTMS group (n = 21) and 10 Hz-rTMS group (n = 20). All the patients received routine training and their own rTMS for two weeks. Their rest motor threshold (RMT) was measured, and they were assessed with modified Ashworth Scale (MAS), Fugl-Meyer Assessment-Upper Extremities (FMA-UE) and modified Barthel Index (MBI) before and after treatment, and at six weeks follow-up. Results:There were 48 patients completing the trial, while five in 3 Hz-rTMS group, five in 10 Hz-rTMS group and two in the sham rTMS group dropped. The RMT increased in 3 Hz and 10 Hz rTMS groups (t > 2.390, P < 0.05) after treatment, but there was no significantly difference among the three groups (F = 0.164, P > 0.05). The MAS scores of elbow and wrist decreased gradually over time in 3 Hz and 10 Hz rTMS groups (P < 0.05), and the MAS scores of elbow was less in 3 Hz and 10 Hz rTMS groups than in the sham rTMS group at follow-up (P < 0.05). The interaction of time and group was significant on the FMA-UE scores (F = 14.243, P < 0.001), and the FMA-UE scores improved more in 3 Hz and 10 Hz rTMS groups than in the sham rTMS group at different stages (P < 0.01). The interaction of time and group was not significant in MBI score (F = 1.481, P > 0.05), and there was no significant difference among the three groups at any time (F < 2.925, P > 0.05). Conclusion:Both 3 Hz and 10 Hz rTMS can promote the recovery of upper limb motor function in ischemic stroke patients safely and effectively, and 10 Hz rTMS is recommended as less time is needed.

ABSTRACT

This paper reports a case of atypical cholesterol side chain enzyme deficiency caused possibly by CYP11A1p.A359V heterozygous mutation. The patient was diagnosed as congenital adrenal hyperplasia because he was born with gonadal dysplasia and there were manifestations of salt losing and pigment changing, combined with high level of plasma ACTH. Further genetic screening revealed CYP11A1p.A359V heterozygous mutations in patients with a final diagnosis of cholesterol side chain enzyme deficiency which was treated effectively to glucocorticoid.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the prevalence and associated risk factors for pterygium among people aged 50 years and above in Funing County,Jiangsu Province.Methods A cluster random sampling method was performed,the subjects aged 50 years or above were randomly selected from 30 survey sites in Funing County,Jiangsu Province.Questionnaires,visual acuity tests,the examinations of eye surface,anterior segment,fundus examinations were conducted.Pterygium was diagnosed and graded clinically by slit lamp examination.The risk factors were acquired from questionnaires and analyzed by the multivariate logistic regression analysis.This study protocol was approved by Ethic Committee of Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University (NO.2010-05).Written informed consent was obtained from each subject prior to entering study cohort.Results A total of 6 145 persons aged 50 years and above were enumerated,and actually 5 947 (96.8%) participants were examined.Among them,1 950 cases were diagnosed as pterygium in either eye and 1 228 cases were diagnosed as pterygium in binoculus,which was equivalent to the 32.79% [95% confidence interval(CI):31.60%-33.98%] of pterygium in either eye and 20.65% (95% CI:19.62%-21.68%) in bilateral pterygium.Among 2467 male subjects,838 were diagnosed as pterygium (33.97%,95% CI:32.10%-35.84%).Among 3480 female subjects,1 112 were diagnosed as pterygium (31.95%,95% CI:30.40%-33.51%).There was no significant difference in the prevalence of pterygium between genders (P =0.135).Multivariate Logistic analysis showed that,older age (50 ~ <60 years:odds ratio [OR] =1.00;60 ~ <70 years:OR=1.54,P<0.001;70 ~ <80 years,OR=1.83,P<0.001;≥80 years:OR=1.99,P<0.001),low educational level (no education:OR =1.00;<primary:OR =0.87,P =0.031;primary education:OR =0.72,P =0.002;≥ secondary education:OR =0.63,P =0.002),farmer occupations (OR =1.34,P =0.020),and long outdoor work time (OR =1.13,P =0.026) were independent risk factors for pterygium.Gender,marriage,income,hypertension,diabetes,smoking and alcohol use history were not associated with pterygium (all at P>0.05).Conclusions The prevalence of pterygium in Funing County is 32.79% in people aged 50 years and above.The high prevalence of pterygium may be associated with older age,low education level and long outdoor work time.

ABSTRACT

Objective The secretion level of inflammatory factors is closely related to the severity of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS). This paper mainly discussed the effect of SFTSV infection on the expression of Toll-like receptor 2(TLR2) and inflammatory factors in macrophages in mice. Methods The expression of TLR2 andTNF-α, IFN-β, IL-6, IL-10 and other inflammatory factors were observed at 0, 6, 12, 24, 36, 48, 72 hours after SFTSV infected mice macrophages by qPCR, Western blot and ELISA. Results QPCR results showed that the mRNA levels of TNF-α at 0, 6, 12, 24, 36, 48, 72 h were 0.85±0.14, 15.23±2.45, 28.67±1.59, 94.52±7.05, 55.86±1.82, 23.55±6.15, 9.76±2.03, and the mRNA levels of IFN-β were 0.93±0.21, 1.55±0.33, 14.51±1.98, 55.16±3.64, 26.57±1.49, 9.22±0.51, 5.18±1.06. QPCR results showed that the mRNA levels of TNF-α and IFN-β produced by abdominal macrophages in the infected mice showed a trend of first increasing (the highest at the 24 hour) and then decreasing, and the difference of TNF-α and IFN-β mRNA levels at other time points was statistically significant compared with that at the 0 hour (P<0.05). However, IL-6 and IL-10 mRNA levels continued to increase, and the difference at other time points was statistically significant (P<0.05). ELISA results showed that the expression of four inflammatory factors showed a trend of gradual increase: TNF-α 0 and 72 h were (38.31±4.25, 140.41±23.45) pg/mL; IFN-β 0th and 72th were (17.56±0.66, 1084.93±111.42) pg/mL; IL-6 protein 0 and 72 h were (113.30±0.07, 2302.32±134.09) pg/mL; IL-10 protein 0 and 72 h were (515.00±21.21, 2590.40±226.19) pg/mL, respectively, with significant increases at the 24, 36, 48 and 72 hours compared with that at the 0 hour (P<0.05). The expression of TLR2 mRNA generated by mouse peritoneal macrophages showed a trend of first increasing and then decreasing, and increased to the highest level at 24 h, and the difference between each time point and 0 h was statistically significant (P<0.01). The expression of TLR2 gradually increased after infection with time extension. Conclusion SFTSV infection can up-regulate the expression of TLR2 in macrophages, thereby leading to the increased secretion of the cytokines.
